How to calculate cement, sand, and aggregates in concrete
• Density of cement = 1440 kg/m3
• Desity of Sand = 1450-1500 kg/m3
• Density of Aggregate = 1450-1550 kg/m3
• 1 Bag of cement = 50 kg
• 1 Bag of cement = 34.7 liters
• 1 Bag of cement = 0.0347 cubic meter
• Specific gravity of cement = 3.15
Where 33, 43, 53, compressive strength of cement in N/mm2
How to calculate cement, sand, and aggregates in concrete
Consider volume of concrete = 1m3 M-20 = 1:1.5:3 = 5.5
cement:sand:aggregates
Where, M = Mix 20 = characteristic compressive strength
Dry volume of concrete = 1 ×1.5 = 1.54m3
Cement =

×1.54 = 0.28𝑚3
Density of cement is 1440/𝑚3
= 0.28 × 1440 = 403.2 kg
We have each bag of cement is 50 kg
=

= 8 Bags
We know in one bag of cement = 1.226 CFT
= 8 × 1.226 = 9.8 CFT

Consider volume of concrete = 1m3 M-20 = 1:1.5:3 = 5.5

Where, M = Mix 20 = characteristic compressive strength

Density of sand is 1450/𝑚3
=0.42 ×1450= 609 kg/𝑚3
As we know that 1𝑚3 = 35.31 CFT
=0.42 × 35.31 = 14.83 CFT

Where, M = Mix 20 = characteristic compressive strength

As we know that 1𝑚3 = 35.31 CFT
=0.84 × 35.31 = 29.66 CFT
To verify the calculation we can add 0.28𝑚3
+0.42𝑚3
+0.84𝑚3
= 1.54m3
