2. REQUIRED PROPERTIES
FOR DOOR PANEL
• need to be able to withstand and channel loads
into the body of the car while being thin
• able to protect occupants from serious injury
when having collision from the side.
• therefore, materials with high energy-absorbing
properties.
• door panel with honeycomb-based plastics is
tougher and able to absorb more energy
compared to injection-molded panel, however
the cost also higher.

4. ADVANTAGES OF INJECTION
MOLDING
• the cost of finished product is relatively low due to
automation
• High strength
• Because the mold is permanent, the cycle of molding is
significantly higher at a given period of time
• High accuracy – finished product does not differ much than
prototype
• Molding process is highly efficient – very few waste is
generated
• Detailed features i.e. leather surface can be molded
