WHAT IS BOLT AND NUT ?
• A bolt is an externally threaded fastener
which is primarily used as bolted joint with a
nut
• Nut is a small metal block with internal screw
thread to be fitted onto a bolt

COST EFFICIENCY OF COLD FORGING
• Raw materials can be directly purchased with
included annealing and peeling making it ready for
process.
• Raw material is limited, more expensive
• To minimize cost, cold heading wire preferred small
in size
• Efficient lubrication system guarantees high quality
of final product and eliminate additional cost
COST EFFICIENCY OF HOT FORGING
• Minimization of energy cost by using indicator and
billet with matching diameter
• Automatization of all forging presses essential for
the cost efficiency of the hot forging manufacturing
process, especially for industries that require high
volume production runs as the automotive
• All applied tools should be optimized for the

  • 2. WHAT IS BOLT AND NUT ? • A bolt is an externally threaded fastener which is primarily used as bolted joint with a nut • Nut is a small metal block with internal screw thread to be fitted onto a bolt APPLICATION

PROS AND CONS… ADVANTAGES DISADVANTAGES COLD FORGING • Mass production • High volume bolts produced • High accuracy • Excellent surface quality • High strength • Simple shapes • Less ductile • Not suitable for every steel • Limitation in size and shape HOT FORGING • High ductility • Excellent surface quality • Low volume bolts produced • Additional cost in production • Less dimensional tolerance MACHINING • Best for customized and intricated shape • Low volume bolts produced • Low in strength • Produces more scrap • Less strength

COST OF PRODUCTION OF BOLT AND NUT… COST EFFICIENCY OF COLD FORGING • Raw materials can be directly purchased with included annealing and peeling making it ready for process. • Raw material is limited, more expensive • To minimize cost, cold heading wire preferred small in size • Efficient lubrication system guarantees high quality of final product and eliminate additional cost COST EFFICIENCY OF HOT FORGING • Minimization of energy cost by using indicator and billet with matching diameter • Automatization of all forging presses essential for the cost efficiency of the hot forging manufacturing process, especially for industries that require high volume production runs as the automotive • All applied tools should be optimized for the following innovative technologies: (a) Metallurgy (b) Reloading (c) Heat treatment (d) Surface treatment
