Ventilation is a process in which our body extracts oxygen from the atmosphere and releases
carbon dioxide as a byproduct. Overall, this process exchanges air between our lungs and the
atmosphere.
According to Boyle s Law, at a constant temperature, pressure of a gas is inversely proportional to
volume. Therefore, when we breathe in, the chest cavity expands, and the pressure inside the lungs
becomes slightly lower than the atmospheric pressure.
When the muscles relax and the volume of the chest cavity decreases, the air inside the lungs is
forced out. This is the process of expiration .

Many things are fantasy, but now since I have learned what magical realism is, I see magical

Throughout the many months he spends on the road he meets many people who have a deep
impact on him, even though he probably would not admit to that until the end. As a final test of the
change in his mentality and confirmation of his independency from civilization and all the negative
aspects it represents, Christopher makes his way to Alaska. The storyline follows two different parts
of his life, including flashbacks to his childhood and adolescence, intertwined with the deep disdain

My first source is a monograph from a scholarly journal Journalism and Communication
Monographs . It is an in depth research article that explores areas of journalism like how certain
stories get covered and how come some don t. It gives specific examples of how internal and
external factors that influence that decision. The article is extremely relevant to my research. The
author is very credible, with a PhD in Mass Communication along with other degrees. She is also a
Professor at the Reed College of Media, West Virginia

Cell Phone Polling
In the 2012 United States presidential election, many pre election polls believed that Mitt Romney
would win, even by just a small margin. However, Barack Obama won the election easily, with a
win by about five million votes (The Week Staff). Obama s victory upset many Americans, mainly
the Republican party and those supporting it. A few factors came into play that made polling
inconsistent and incorrect in this election. The growth of cell phones caused automatic calling to
fail to reach many people. Also, the decrease in response rate caused less accurate polls for
representing a whole. However, some methods may help combat these issues, such as calling more.

In the late 1970s, an 80 percent response rate was acceptable, but people taking the polls still
feared over inaccurate results (Zukin). Now, that fell to about nine percent in 2012 (DeSilver
and Keeter) and even to eight percent in 2014 (Zukin). Some of the causes for the low turnout
include people being harder to contact, people wanting their opinions private, and that people
think surveys are burdens (DeSilver and Keeter). People live busier lives, so they feel that taking
a survey would take too much time and has no worth. Some may also think that the survey results
would not change if they do not answer because many people would receive calls, so they do not
answer. Lower turnout means that the results do not represent most of the population, so they
become less accurate and lead to more false predictions (Zukin). Low response rate has been a
problem for voting, and it also affects surveying
