which is authored by Sebastian Junger and published by Hatchett Book Group in May of 2010.
Sebastian Junger was an embedded reporter with the 2nd Platoon, Battle Company of the 173rd
Airborne Brigade for Vanity Fairmagazine, and was entirely dependent on the U.S. military for
food, shelter, security, and transportation.1
This book is the result of five trips taken to Korengal Valley in eastern Afghanistanthat were taken

The search for reform in rural Canada during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries reveals a deep
connection between educational movements and social reform. The readings for the first three
weeks of this course have provided an overview of how social reformers during this period were
keen to promote an urban and modern orientation to direct social reformmovements in rural
Canada. Often, this perspective came into conflict with the needs of the rural society at the time.
Therefore, the widespread discontent within the rural society was illustrated through the various
efforts of social reform in Canada during the 1860s 1960s.
The first set of readings of this course outline the ways in which the hopes of the social reformers
were to promote reform based on an urban and modern orientation through movements in
agriculture, social welfare, and education. In doing so, the social reformers encouraged three kinds
of developments: i) the promotion of an urban orientation through the reform of agricultural

I was desperately lost while studying theater during my first semester at Brigham Young
University Idaho. It was what I enjoyed during high school, but I want a career where I am able to
spend time with my family and one where I d be in a position to improve the lives of others. After
taking my first acting class I knew it wasn t what I wanted to do. Since then, I have considered
everything from psychology to accounting. Research and volunteer opportunities, advice from
trusted mentors, and my educationplayed roles in my decision process. I learned to manage my
time wisely in order to spend time with my family. Most importantly, I was able to decide on a
career in optometry, and have since planned out what I want to do after optometry school.
After my first semester at BYU Idaho, I took a two year break from school to serve as a missionary
for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Africa. I dedicated my time to serve the
people surrounding me. Usually the service was simple things: helping wash laundry by hand,
preparing meals, cleaning or even building a mud home. I enjoyed every bit of service I was
able to offer. My parents taught me the importance of hard work, and my upbringing is the reason
I find joy in serving others. This joy has guided me as I have chosen my career path.

My Experience At The Teton Valley Ranch Camp Essay
When I was taking a photo of the purple sky and two stretching lakes across the Bonney Pass in
the Teton Mountains; I knew this place that I loved had transformed me into a better person and a
more confident woman.
When I submitted the lengthy application to the Teton Valley Ranch Camp in Dubois, Wyomingmy
mind kept sinking back to the fear of flying away to my comfortable close knit home to work at a
ranch camp 2,610 miles away. My mom persisted that I should do something different with my
summer. After being a camper at the Teton Valley Ranch Camp, I thought it would be nice to
contribute some of my time to the place that made me outdoorsy and confident woman. However,
I did not want to leave the summer before college started. I wanted to stay in the same routine
with my friends who lived on Nantucket Island. I did not want to meet new coworkers, far away
from home was daunting. I enjoyed my circle of friends in Nantucket because I was comfortable
with my everyday routine. Visions of anxiety swept over my mind; the fear crept over my mind
with the years of high school which constrained my personality. The boarding school years
trapped me in like a prison with no welcoming smiles. I wanted to return to my happy place in
Nantucket with my friends. Despite my fears, I continued to think of the outcome of going to a
new place far away, that could be life changing. Life is not about being sheltered and always

Summary Of The Foundation And Manifesto Of Futurism By...
The first Manifesto I read was The Foundation and Manifesto of Futurism by Marinetti. Marinetti
highlights various concepts behind the futurist movement. Throughout his manifesto he describes
old versus new and personifies several places and machines. Like when he spoke of his automobile
he said We approach the the three panting beasts to stroke their burning breasts, full of love and
admiration. (Marinetti 643). He says that finally the old and mystical ideals and myths are far
behind them. He portrays these engines as demonic, but however his description sounds he isn t
demonizing technology, he is in fact admiring it. He also encourages people to take these risky
leaps of faith. He highlights the point that humans need conflict and revolutions bring out change....
Like Marinetti in the previous manifesto, Duxiu also talks about the change from old to new,
however he states Revolution means the elimination of the old and the changeover to the new...
