Clara Barton Accomplishments
Clara Barton, born Clarissa Harlowe Barton, is one of the most significant figures in US history.
Barton is well known for being a female pioneer in the field of teaching, as well as for her work
in the US patent office during the Civil war. These feats alone make her a historical figure;
however, she is also known for something which far surpasses these accomplishments. Clara Barton
is recognized and remembered today for her extraordinary work as a nurse during the American
Civil War, and for going on to establish the American Red Cross
. (Clara Barton; Clara Barton)
Clarissa Harlowe Barton was born in Massachusetts on December 25, 1821. Barton was the
youngest of 5 siblings born to Sarah Stone and Stephen Barton. Barton was raised on a small ...

Hougen Hd115 Unit 5
So, just over the weekend, we had a chance to get our hands on a brand new magnetic base drill
from one of our local dealers. The model was the HMD115 Ultra Low Profile Right Angle Drill
from Hougen. And as expected, our test experience was beyond our expectations.
Basically, mag drills, such as the HMD115, are essential pieces of equipment that should never be
missing in your work area. What s great about them is that they combine the power of a drill press
and an electromagnetic base, allowing the handyman to handle carbon steel surfaces. In other
words, they are specially designed for heavy steel sections. Now, I don t want you to wait any
longer, so let me finally begin with my review of the Hougen HMD115. Let s see if this is

case, a lubricant, and a safety strap.

Hougen HMD115 Magnetic Base Drill: The Verdict
If you re looking for a compact mag drill that can complete numerous tasks, then walk right
towards the Hougen HMD115. Unlike other models that we ve tested before, I can say that this
one is truly perfect for tight spaces. What I personally loved about it is the fact that it uses RotaLoc
Cutters, which requires no tools for removal and installations. I also liked its overall construction.
The machine is very handy and lightweight, making it portable for any drilling operations. Simply
put, the HMD115 is a powerful equipment that can meet the demands of your metalworking

Improving Quality And Safety For Patient Safety
The Role of the Leader in Evaluating Data to Improve Quality and Safety
Patient safety is a growing concern among healthcare professionals and the public (Goh, Chan,
Kuziemsky, 2013). As professional nurses, it is our duty to demonstrate improved safety for our
patients, visitors and guests to the facilities in which we serve. It is also our duty to prevent
adverse events and to view unfortunate incidents as learning opportunities to achieve a holistic
view of patient care. By improving patient safety, we accept responsibility for more positive patient
outcomes and a successful hospital stay. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the importance of
data evaluation and interpretation to improve patient quality and safety.

In reviewing the data set provided for this study, a large number of falls occurred between the
hours of 3 a.m. and 7 a.m. This is the time that a phlebotomist typically enters the room for a
morning blood draw or the nurse wakes the patient for a vital sign check. The patients are still in a
daze, and it is possible after the clinical personnel leaves, the patient tries to climb out of bed
unattended, resulting in a fall (Stempniak, 2015). Lee (2015), states You disturb them, wake them
up and they re groggy; then they try to get up and go to the restroom by themselves. They
overestimate their ability to function and walk, resulting in a fall (Stempniak, 2015).
In addition to the falls data, the Walden University case study (2015) reported One full time
employee (FTE) of nursing assistants was moved from the night shift to the evening shift (Data
Dashboard, 2015). This change in staff may contribute to the increased falls seen during the
overnight hours. An extra nursing assistant would be helpful as a variable rounder, someone to
help the nurses and other nursing assistants respond quickly if a patient s call bell is ringing or the
patient is in distress.
Our report shows an increase in fall risks from 7 am to 11 am daily. This time coincides with
patient care, where nursing staff may be attending to one individual patient, often

Animal Products And Its Effects On Myanmar
In Myanmar, NTFPs is defined as all kinds of forest produce other than timber and firewood. This
includes animals, vegetables, and mineral products (Khin Maung Lwin 1995). Myanmar Forest
Law 1992 called NTFPs as minor forest produce. According to the Forest Law 1992, NTFPs are
declared for revenue collection. ForestDepartment levy tax on 29 kinds of forest products
including NTFPs according to the law. The production of NTFPs from 2010 to 2014 is shown in

2.2.2NTFPs for Medicine
Medicinal plants have been important in human healthcare throughout history, and continue to
play a key role amongst forest communities (Shackleton et. al. 2011). In Myanmar, most of the
rural areas are lacking modern medicine and health services. Some of the areas are very far from
the urban area and sometimes difficult to access. Sometimes modern medicine and healthcare
services are expensive and they are not affordable. Traditional medicines obtained from local
plant and animal species are easily available and free or low cost (Shackleton et. al. 2011). Rural
people have good knowledge on medicinal plants their uses. In Myanmar, medicinal plants play a
role in both modern and traditional health care system (Khin Maung Lwin 1995). Some example

American Childhood Analysis
The stories An American Childhood , by Anne Dillard and Once more to the lake by E.B. White
illustrates the author s childhood memories with description and imagery theme but have different
personal experiences and issues. An American Childhood , by Anne Dillard was about her old
neighborhood. Dillard depicts her childhood from the age of five through high school, in 1950 s
America. According to Dillard, to find the source of happiness, one must resist the world to try to
seal that character out and in Once more to the lake by E.B. White also reflects his childhood
memories with his parents and later with his son and express those certain elements of life, such as
the enjoyment of the youth, continue forever for a different generation. The main idea of the
Dillard s essay is maintaining cheerfulness and joy even in adulthood, by narrating her childhood as
a template for developing and maintaining happiness and White includes descriptions and imagery
theme from his past and present. This reflection allows the readerto imagine the memories of a son
and a father enjoying the America dream, a vacation. While both An American Childhood by Annie
Dillardand Once more to the Lake by E.B. White are descriptions and imagery sprung from the
same childhood memories, they have explored the experience of a child from a different perspective.
In Both essays, Dillard s An American Childhood and White s One more to the Lake the authors
are using descriptive and imagery pattern to share their Childhood memories, which gives the
readers the sense of freedom and joy. An American Childhood was about Dillard s old
neighborhood. She used a narrative tone in her story that described her childhood memories. As
Dillard said: Boys welcomed me at baseball, too, for I had through enthusiastic practice, what
was weirdly known as a boy s arm (pp. 141). Dillard uses a lot of description in her story. She
creates a clear image for the readers with her descriptions throughout. As Dillard indicated: We
smashed through a gap in another hedge, entered a scruffy backyard and ran around its back porch
and tight between houses to Edgerton Avenue...... (pp. 143). E.B. White s essay Once More to the
Lake also illustrates his

Secondary Data Essay
Secondary data is already present for the public domain. The fact that everything that is already
available can be termed into secondary data and that it doesn t have to be published makes it
differentiate in more types of secondary data which are recognized by:
official statistical sources which are produced quite frequently by the government or agencies
official statistical sources produced rarely by government or agencies
official statistical sources which are focused on a specific issue and are produce by the public or
private organisations.
Newspapers, books, journals, academic papers or reports which represent published documents and
are produced as digital material or hard copy.
Reports, websites, emails, blogs which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fourth issues which we are presented now is when secondary research is used to compare data
from different areas or different time periods. Its purpose is to highlight the differences and
similarities surrounding the desired data. Certain things should be taken into consideration like the
definitions which were used to create data categories are the same or the fact that the way in which
the collected data was presented should not change over time.
The final issue presented in using a secondary research method is quality. Based on the source of the
data, if it is in the public domain and the source is a trustworthy one, than its more than unlikely
that it s deliberately incorrect. Also, more research is essential to see other types of data from a
different stance as not always the full picture is presented regarding it. (Newby, 2010)
Secondary research tends to be far less costly and time consuming when applied compared to
primary research. Most of the times, secondary data is available at no cost with the use of internet
or through certain preparations with the company or a certain government agency. (Vartanian, 2010)
At the same time, this type of data allows you to access information based on a large and diverse
subject, business, project which access could be hard to obtain in order to gather primary data.

Dan Ariely s Predictably Irrational By Dan Ariely
Dan Ariely, the author of В«Predictably IrrationalВ», conducted a comprehensive research related
to human behaviour and its influence on our decision making. In the seventh chapter of the book,
Dan explains why people overvalue their possessions and how this overestimation hinders our life.
He considers that our perspectives can be changed dramatically due to overvaluing what we have
and gives several instances of proving his thoughts.
The first example is the experiment at Duke University where students should spend an enormous
amount of time in tents to get a ticket for a basketball game. Dan Ariely called ticketholders and
those who did not get any ticket and asked them about the price at which they were willing to sell
this ticket or pay ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People generally are not concerned about this problem because they cannot sometimes distinguish
it. Dan Ariely presented the extensive research to explain to people how the overvaluing of what
we have complicates rational decision making about our possessions. The examples appeared in the
chapter help in revealing the interesting aspects of human behavior related to the ownership. People
may find several instances relatable because all of them reflect our situations in life. The author
provides the broad explanations about why overvaluing influences on our decision making. He
makes it easier for us to understand how ownership can dramatically alter our perspectives.
Summarizing all above mentioned it seems that the chapter is managed appropriately to make the
main issue clear for the readers. Dan Ariely raises the problem of overvaluing to warn people
about its danger that can disturb their life. He covers the whole topic by providing the
comprehensive instances and answering the central questions related to the problem. The chapter
clarifies how the issue of

Inequality And Oppression
The aim of this essay is to address the problem of inequality and oppression through three separate
texts, The Second Sex, The Death of the Profane and Killing Rage. The Second Sex focuses on the
woman and her role compared to man. The Death of the Profane and Killing Rage are both texts
that describe experiences about the constant racism felt by blacks. To thoroughly examine these
texts and how they are related to oppression and inequality it is important to first define what each
mean. Oppression and inequality each have different definitions but they go hand in hand.
Oppression is the state of being subject to prolonged unjust treatment. While inequality is defined
as lacking equality, equality is the state of being equal especially in status,... Show more content on

Simone de Beauvoir focuses on women and their permanent otherness, women will always be
this other . They are never the subject or absolute like man is. This constant oppression of
women is different of others, women are not a minority, they are numerically almost equal to
man and yet man has still been able to create dominance over them. Man is the superior, they are
the absolute and women are the other. Oppositely, bell hooks and Patricia Williams speak on the
inequality of minorities, specifically blacks. Racism and killing rage are heavily connected.
Racism is strong and deep; it is the phantom in the room. Killing rage is a rage that is felt after
constant unjust treatment, it is a rage that is healing. This killing rage should be viewed as a
passion for freedom. I think a passion for freedom should be the forefront change. This passion for
freedom can be connected to each author. A passion for freedom can aid in changing the permanent
otherness women have faced and continue to face. Otherness is expressed through inequalities in
pay and the way women are viewed. Simone de Beauvoir s text brought up important and relevant
inequalities women and minorities face. Patricia Williams text focusing on the inequality blacks
face is relevant and important. Again a passion for freedom from oppression and inequality should
be expressed. By Patricia Williams continually

Pompei Amphitheatre Research Paper
Now lets visit a couple of places in Pompei. Some famous and interesting places are The Villa of
the Mysteries, The Garden of fugitives , and The Pompeii Amphitheatre. The Villa of Mysteries is
famous for the series of Frescos in many rooms. It was a country house built around 65 50 BC.
The mural painting that gives this house its name is found in the dining room, or triclinium, of the
house. It s associated with Dionysian cult practices that are known to have flourished in the area.
Dionysus, was the Greek god of wine and ecstasy. Dionysian cult members were all female, called

higher seats were for plebeians, commoners.

women wore stolas, which are very similar to togas. They wore these over their tunics, under

What Is My Commitment Essay
My Commitment
The best day of my life was the day that I became a dad. Becoming a dad taught me so much.
Most importantly it taught me how to be committed to someone and an idea that you don t even
know. I remember when my girlfriend told me that she was pregnant. Although we had been
seeing each other for a while and not practicing safe sex, the idea of her carrying my child
shocked me. She called me up on a Thursday and asked me to come over her place because she
wanted to show me something. I had no idea what this something was. My girlfriend Natalie was
always up to something and my best guess was that she was going to show me these new pair of
shoes that she got on sale. When I arrived at her apartment, she had a different look on her face.

I was speaking and in a shaky voice I said, How did this happen? Did you do this on purpose? She
looked at me and I could tell that she was disappointed in me but I also knew that she was mad.
She stood there shaking her head. Then she started walking back and forth. I knew then that not
only was she mad but she was angry. She put her head down to stare at the ground for a moment
and when she lifted her head up she pierced her eyes at mine and she said, How the hell do you

Coral Reef Importance
Sustainable Biomes
What Are Coral Reefs?
Livescience.com states that:
Coral reefs are expansive underwater structures which are built from stony corals that secrete
calcium carbonate to create their hard exoskeleton to protect their soft bodies. These corals consist
of polyps which are abnormal growths within the coral that cluster together to form groups. Coral
reefs make up one of the most significant marine ecosystems in the world today. (https:/
/www.livescience.com/40276 coral reefs.html )
Why Are Coral Reefs Important?
Alongside being one of the largest marine ecosystems in the world, coral reefs are significant for
many reasons, most of which fall under protection. But what do they protect and how do they
protect it?
Coral reefs provide coastal protection as they stop and lower wave action and erosion in shallow
shores which prevents damage to any nearby properties
Coral reefs protect the productive wetlands that lie along the coast as well as the highly productive
wetlands that are around ports and harbours
Human recreation such as fishing, snorkelling and scuba diving are all provided by the coral reefs.
The human recreation that is provided by the coral reefs benefit the people who work in the tourism
industry as they earn more money
Our earth s coral reefs are the spiritual and cultural centre for many people. For example, the
indigenous aborigines of Australia are spiritually connected to the coral reefs due to their traditional

Demmings Fourteen Points Essay
Demming s Fourteen Points
Demming s formulation of his Fourteen Points is seen by many as the management equivalent of
the 10 Commandments . Like many quality driven approaches, the fourteen points take a holistic
view of an organization, how it works, and its relationships with its stakeholders.
Point 1: Create constancy of purpose towards improvement of product and service, wth the aim to
become competitive, to stay in business and to provide jobs.
Constancy revolves around the customer. Success depends on how well a company evalutes its
processes, products and markets in order to understand future requirements. This requires a

relationship of long term loyalty and trust.
Price means nothing without a measure of the quality being delivered. When thinking about quality,
the idea of buyng from the lowest bidder gets abandoned.
Point 5: Improve constantly and forever the system of production and service to improve quality
and productivity, then thus constatnly decreasing costs.
The concept of quality should be built in at the design stage of the product. Each product should
be viewed as one of a kind and there is only

one chance of success.
Point 6: Institute training on the job.
Too often workers learn their skill from other workers who do not have adaquate training. It is
useful to train as many workers as possible to detract from costly mistakes.
Point 7: Institute leadership. The aim of supervision should be to help people and machines to do a
better job.
Managers should be trainers, not policemen. Since management plays a key role in quality, reviews
should include discussion on problems and potential solutions.
Point 8: Drive out fear so that eveyone may work effectively

The Funeral Of Baroness Thatcher
The amazing thing about the funeral of Baroness Thatcher was the size of the crowds, and the next
amazing thing was that they were so relatively well behaved. The BBC had done its best to foment
an uprising.
With habitual good taste, they played Ding Dong the witch is dead on taxpayer public radio. Asked
to find some commentators to give an instant reaction to the death of Britain s greatest post war
prime minister an event that was not exactly unforeseen they reached instinctively for Gerry Adams
and Ken Livingstone, two of her bitterest foes if you exclude the Tory wets, that is.
As her cortege wound its way from St Brides to St Paul s there were a few people so stupid that
they heckled the mortal remains of an 87 year old woman. A few turned their backs. Some wore
twerpish Guy Fawkes masks or carried signs saying Boo . But the mass of humanity was on her
side, and when the dissenters erupted they were swiftly drowned by cries of shhh or calculated
volleys of applause.
I know all this partly from media accounts and partly because I walked through the crowds and I
saw how various her mourners were. There were some tweedy types and some suited thrusters, and
people who would generally not look out of place at a Tory party conference.
But there were also people from all over London, immigrants of every race and colour people that
the BBC might not have marked down, perhaps, as natural Thatcherites and yet who had come to

Different Types of Ducks
There were many different types of ducks in these locations but there were only a few I was
able to recognize: Ruddy ducks dive for their food Very easy to spot these ducks because the
male has a bright blue bill, the bottom of their head is white and the top is black. The female is
not as easy to recognize but the top of its head is a darker brown whereas the bottom is a lighter
brown/ white. Mallard dabbling These ducks are the most common ducks found around New
York state. They have a yellow bill with a green head and a white band around its neck. Common
goldeneye dive for their food The reason why this duck is called the goldeneye, is because it
actually has gold colored eyes. The male ducks have a shiny green head with a white circle on
its cheek. Its body is black and white. The female, like every there female, does not have as
many colors. The head is brown and like the male, has golden eyes. The body is grey/white. 2. a)
Flamingo: Its feet are long, skinny and webbed. They have 4 toes in total, three toes pointing
towards the front and one smaller toe in the back. This is because these birds are almost always
in the water and using their webbed feet for swimming and stirring up food from the bottom.
Their beak is hooked shaped, and their lower bill is much thicker than the top. This allows for the
flamingo to be filter feeders, looking for tiny shrimp. Heron: The heron s feet have three long toes,

Analysis Of The Book War By Sebastian Junger
There is a very large majority of material written and taken down about the Iraq/Afghan war, and
our libraries hold majority of these works of literature. This is a book review of the book War
which is authored by Sebastian Junger and published by Hatchett Book Group in May of 2010.
Sebastian Junger was an embedded reporter with the 2nd Platoon, Battle Company of the 173rd
Airborne Brigade for Vanity Fairmagazine, and was entirely dependent on the U.S. military for
food, shelter, security, and transportation.1
This book is the result of five trips taken to Korengal Valley in eastern Afghanistanthat were taken
between June 2007 and June 2008. Junger states that he was never asked directly or indirectly to
alter his reporting in any way or to show the contents of his camera. Junger is an American citizen
and has recollections of the terrorist s attacks that took place on September 11, 2001. With this in
mind, it could be cause for some bias reporting that may be presented and talked about through this
book review.
This memoir was written for the main reason of Junger being interested in Americans in
Afghanistan. He was interested in what it was like to serve in a platoon of combat infantry in the
U.S. Army.2 With this memoir in mind, Junger wanted to reach the American citizens as his
audience to show just what mindset the American soldiers were placed in during their time in
Afghanistan. Junger states that the moral basis of the war didn t seem to interest

Abraham Lincoln s Accomplishments During his Presidency...
Today our nations built upon equality and the idea that every man is created equal. Abe Lincoln
helped establish equality and the mindset that comes with these beliefs were introduced to early
americans from Abraham Lincoln. He helped abolish slavery and introduce a new era and shape
america how it is today. Not only is he one of the most prominent leaders of the Civil War but an
early influence and catalyst on the later Civil Rights Movement.
Abe Lincoln accomplished many things during the civil war. Abe Lincoln was a great leader and
president. He ended slavery in the U.S. during his time period. During the year 1860, slavery was
one of the biggest problems in america. Abe Lincoln, president at the time, was against slavery.

If the U.S. had split apart after the civil war the world would be a lot different to this day. The
emancipation helped the northern states. After the emancipation proclamation was passed the slaves
were still being discriminated. A famous quote from abe Lincoln was Those who deny freedom to
others deserve it not for themselves , this quote means that abe believed everyone should be treated
equal and if those who did not should not have freedom for themselves(Goodreads). Lincoln
believed in equality and thats all he wanted for america, is to have equality throughout the whole
country.
Abraham Lincoln influenced america and other historical figures. Martin Luther King Jr. and
Lincoln were one of the most prominent leaders when it came to slavery. He showed courage to

Genesis Vs Gilgamesh Research Paper
Many people all over the world have read the famous story of Genesis; after all it is one of the
most widely read books in the world. The main concept from the Gilgamesh flood story and the
Genesis flood story is the biggest similarity of the two. They also differ in smaller details in the
events that take place. The stories are particularly the same, but when comparing the details within,
the two flood stories highly stories highly differ. In both versions of the flood story something
angers God (Genesis) and the gods (Gilgamesh). Looking closely at both stories, the reason for
taking out humanity immensely differs. The humans are so wicked and evil: It repented the Lord

Thatcher and Thatcherism Essay
Thatcher and Thatcherism
It is now twenty years since Margaret Thatcher was elected Prime Minister of Great Britain, and
over eight years since she left office. So this seems a good opportunity to look back at what
Thatcher and Thatcherism may have achieved, and what may be the lessons for today.
I must start with a disclaimer. I m the British High Commissioner and normally speak on behalf
of the British Government in Australia. But I hope you will realise that in addressing a subject
such as this I am speaking in a personal capacity. I am not quite sure what the Foreign Office
would say if I asked them for the official line on Thatcherism. Given some of their run ins with her

But the bulk of my career was in fact working for Ministers who to a greater or lesser extent fell
out with her. Nigel Lawson, who was Chancellor of the Exchequer, and in many ways one of those
who most closely shared her philosophy on freeing markets and on cutting spending and taxes. But
who disagreed with her strongly on exchange rate policy and on the poll tax, leading eventually to
his resignation.
And then I worked for John Major, when he was Prime Minister, and in effect her anointed
successor. But who found it hard sometimes to cope with the voices off from Mrs Thatcher or her
friends criticising him for not following her policies or her advice.
So I welcome this opportunity to step back and reflect on Thatcher and Thatcherism.
By any standard, she is a remarkable figure. The longest serving British Prime Minister this
century. The only one to have won three successive General Elections and indeed she was never
defeated at a General Election. The only woman Prime Minister. The only one with an ism
associated with her.
I want to concentrate on her period as Prime Minister. But I first should put it in context by setting
out some of the background. For she became Prime Minister at a time when some of the accepted
nostrums that had guided British

Race, Incarceration, And American Values Essay
A Summary of Race, Incarceration, and American Values
The book Race, Incarceration, and American Values describes mass incarceration as essentially a
legalized form of genocide that is slowly destroying the fiber of African American families and
communities. It provides explanations for the origin of mass incarceration as well as the reasons
for the disproportionate level of African Americans in the prisonsystem. Glenn Loury, along with
Pamela Karian, Tommie Shelby, and Loic Wacquant discuss how America has let fear and greed
cause an inequitable landscape for citizens who have the misfortune of being born the wrong
color and of the wrong social economic class. The principals of equality and freedom on which
America was founded has become nothing more than smoke and mirrors. Maybe the pride
America displays to the World as a Global power incapable of wrong doing is what is holding it
back from recognizing the mistakes it made and undergoing to process of change. Or, maybe it is
what we fear most. It is what we know in our heads and hearts; but never dared to say. That it is a
careful crafted system to keep those with power in power!
Glenn Loury explains why incarceration became so popular and how it affects the African American
community more than all others. The early 1990s was dubbed the age of crime, fueled by drive by
shootings, drug deals gone bad, crack cocaine, and gangster rap. Crime became the new social hot
button issue. A study from 1960 to 1990 of New Haven, a

Tuberculosis Vaccination Research
The decision to vaccinate or to not vaccinate a child against a particular disease is a modern
controversial subject. When in regard to the tuberculosis vaccination, parents in the United States
should vaccinate their children. Tuberculosis is a disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis
that most commonly affects the lungs. The etiologic agent can be expelled from one infected
person via a sneeze or a cough, and enter the air and then the body of another person, leading to
another infected person ( Tuberculosis, 2012). According to What is TB? (n.d.), someone who has
diagnosed tuberculosis but is not receiving any form of treatment can pass the disease to up to
15 people in on year. Treatment of TB is necessary, so if symptoms are ignored, an infected
person could die. Prevalence of this disease is not as common in the United States as it is in other
countries. In 2014, there were approximately 9,421 reported cases; trends show that TB prevalence
continues to decreases each year. Of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

infected by tuberculosis. The vaccination has about an 80% effectiveness in prevention of
tuberculosis for 15 years, but as people get older, BCG seems to be decreasingly effective. One of
the more crucial prevention techniques for avoiding tuberculosis is simply by having a healthy and
non compromised immune system. Adults who are considered to have a healthy immune system
are automatically at an advantage; their immune systems will most likely be able to kill
Mycobacterium tuberculosis on its own. About 6/10 of all adults will have immune systems that

Analysis Of John Womack s Zapata And The Mexican Revolution
The Mexican Revolution brought multiple parties and movements out of the woodwork. In John
Womack s Zapata and the Mexican Revolution, a story of one state s drive for agrarian reform
and its people s evolving mission was told, with Emiliano Zapata as a pivotal leader. The dynamics
of the revolution, however, reach deeper than Womack s account portrays. While Womack
documents the revolutionary path of the Zapatistas from the southern state of Morelos, the story of
Pancho Villa, an arguably parallel character fighting for states in the North against the repressive
powers of General Victoriano Huerta, reads more as a subplot. The writings of Samuel Brunk, Ana
Maria Alonso, and Mariano Azuela shed light on the less simplistic dynamics of... Show more

His careful language exemplifies a quasi diplomatic approach in controlling his followers. Brunk
also emphasizes that many other jefes [...] resented what Zapatista headquarters had become: the
centralizing product of Zapata s interaction with urban intellectual parties (350). This internal
struggle stemming different actor s perspective on what was happening to Zapatismo provides a
more nuanced look at a pivotal group in the Mexican Revolution.
The image of a somewhat cohesive revolutionary party working towards peace put forth by
Womack draws a stark line between the bandit enemy described by General Huerta and the
Zapatistas. Brunk, in his writings on Zapata, challenges this narrative by exploring the gray space
that does not allow for easy delineation between revolutionaries and bandits. Rather than existing
as an arbitrary offshoot of Zapatismo, banditry represented the pursuit of local political (and
economic) goals (Brunk, 349). Womack does acknowledge the insoluble village rivalries that only
compromise could ease , but does not relate them directly to feuds involving bandits (Womack,
233). The nature of local politics was arguably defined by the multiplicity of intrinsic power
struggles over local democratization.
As each jefe sought to delegitimize the other in the eyes of Zapatista headquarters and this to gain
an advantage in the local power struggle , a similar struggle emerged among

Cj Industries and Heavey Pumps – Discussion Questions Essay
CJ Industries and Heavey Pumps Discussion Questions 1. What are all the issues here, from both
CJI s and Heavey s perspectives, that need to be researched by Mr. Ashby?
CJ Industries (CJI)
The first issue presented for CJ Industries was its contract with Great Lakes. Though CJI had
sufficient excess capacity to ramp up production on the parts to be supplied in the Great Lakes
contract, they were not sure about the ability or willingness of Heavey Pumps to increase their
production of the bilge pumps. The problem is that CJ Industries had signed the contract with Great
Lakes prior to any discussions about ramping up production with Heavey Pumps.
The next issue for CJ Industries was whether or not Heavey Pumps could guarantee ... Show more

With about nine months remaining until the contact start date, Heavey Pumps would need to look
at their existing customer orders to see if they had enough capacity to quadruple production of bilge
pumps for CJ Industries.
Furthermore, Heavey Pumps would need to evaluate the costs associated with this contract (i.e.
labor, production, warehousing, purchasing, transportation, etc.) to determine a new unit price for
the bilge pumps associated with CJ Industries contract.
Finally, as with CJ Industries cost benefit analysis, Heavey Pumps ought to decide if they should
continue to service CJ Industries. If so, perhaps consider changing from their current informal,
noncontract basis to a more long term agreement.
2. Should CJI continue to use Heavey to supply pumps, should they make them in house, should
they consider one of the other suppliers, or should they do some combination of these alternatives?
Discuss the advantages, disadvantages, and risks of each of these alternatives.
Option 1 continue to use Heavey Pumps. This would be probably the easiest decision since
Heavey Pumps had been a reliable supplier for CJI for a number of years. This is also contingent
on Heavey Pumps and the issues discussed above, i.e. quality and performance, price, delivery
timing and volume requirements. The disadvantage would be CJ Industries may need to consider
another supplier which might not prove to be as reliable.

French And Indian War, Tea Act, And The Boston Tea Party
Did you know the word independence never appears in the Declaration of Independence, rather, it s
titled The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America. ? The American
Revolution ended two centuries of British rule for most of the North American colonies and created
the modern United Statesof America. Many key events including the French and Indian War, the Tea
Act, and the Boston Tea Party all contributed to the independence of America.
To start off, The French and Indian War, also known as the Seven Years War, was a key event in the
American Revolution. The French and Indian War was a conflict between Great Britain and
France. The French and Indian War began in 1754 and ended with the Treaty of Paris in 1763. The
results of the war ended French political and cultural influence in North America. England gained a
large amount of land and strongly grasped its hold on the continent. On the other hand, the war
created tension between the English and the Native Americans. This war created an unpleasant
relationship between England and its colonies. For example, the amount of taxes put into the
colonists hands from war debt. Therefore, the French and Indian War was beneficial to the
American Revolution. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Peter Singer s Argument Affluence And Morality
In this essay I am going to argue that affluent citizens have a moral obligation to address severe
poverty. I will start by examining the premises in Peter Singer s argument in Famine Affluence and
Morality and will show that his argument is valid by going through each of the premises and
showing that the conclusion logically follows from them. I will then consider a number of
objections to each of the premises and will show that the criticisms fail to vilify his argument. I will
finally point out the two main issues with Singer s argument and propose a way of strengthening
his argument.
Singer s argument can be formulated as follows:
P1: Suffering and death from lack of food, shelter and medical care is bad.
P2: If it is in our power ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, imagine that I was going to spend ВЈ100 on a pair of shoes for myself but instead,
decide to give the money to an aid organization. That particular aid project loses 90% of their
donations due to administrative costs and inefficiencies and the final ВЈ10 results in 5 people in
Nigeria receiving malaria injections. These injections prevent malaria and consequently prevent
the deaths of these 5 people. In a case like this, the good that is caused in Nigeria saving 5 lives,
outweighs the good that would have occurred if I had spent the money on shoes the pleasure I
would have received from new shoes, regardless of the high rate of ineffectiveness. What is
important to Singer, is whether the bad that is be prevented by one s actions outweighs whatever
inconvenience which may be involved in carrying out the action and that is the case in this
example and is also the case for many affluent citizens today. Singer s argument is still
acceptable; they should prevent harm and give aid when it is in their power to do so. However,
Singer should have elaborated on his argument and added a caveat that we also need to tackle aid
effectiveness. Just because one doesn t know whether the aid they are giving is effective doesn t
mean that they should cease from donating or that they should donate blindly. It should instead
encourage them to find ways to

California Heritage Language
The United States is known as the world s melting pot. However, California adopts this title to a
greater extent, as California accepts immigrants from a variety of different countries. Heritage
languages specifically have impacted the state of California as the diverse languages enable first,
second, and third generation speakers to all connect and communicate. Throughout California, there
are specific regions in which a particular languageis most prevalent. Languages like Hebrew, Italian,
Armenian, Korean, and variations of Chinese are represented with their own sector in California.
These areas strengthen the ethnolinguistic vitality of these languages. Previously to this class, I was
not aware of the different dialects that were common in California. If I were to hear someone
speaking Chicano English or African American English I would unrightfully assume that they were
speaking English incorrectly. However, throughout this course I learned each of these dialects
contains their own unique rules, which make them grammatically and linguistically correct. Even
though these dialects are linguistically equal, that does not make them socially equal. Besides

process of sanctification only begins in discipleship.
Win, Grow, and Send There are 3 major concepts regarding being a disciple and making disciples:
(1) Win, (2) Grow, and (3) Send. These are the most important stages of discipleship. The first one
is winning of souls into the body of Christ. Winning represents the fact that there is a loser Satan.
Being in unification with the Holy Spirit, the disciple wins souls by telling the good news through
evangelism. Prayer is the first step in effective evangelism to win the lost souls. John 17:20 says,
Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word

Review Of The Book Into The Wild By Jon Krakauer
Life is an adventure, life is a journey through a time that is only experienced once. Most people

The Reform Movement Of Rural Canada During The Nineteenth...
The search for reform in rural Canada during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries reveals a deep
connection between educational movements and social reform. The readings for the first three
weeks of this course have provided an overview of how social reformers during this period were
keen to promote an urban and modern orientation to direct social reformmovements in rural
Canada. Often, this perspective came into conflict with the needs of the rural society at the time.
Therefore, the widespread discontent within the rural society was illustrated through the various
efforts of social reform in Canada during the 1860s 1960s.
The first set of readings of this course outline the ways in which the hopes of the social reformers
were to promote reform based on an urban and modern orientation through movements in
agriculture, social welfare, and education. In doing so, the social reformers encouraged three kinds
of developments: i) the promotion of an urban orientation through the reform of agricultural
education, ii) the promotion reform through social legislation, and finally iii) the promotion of
reform in rural education to progressive systems of education. Although the reformers saw the
promotion of progressivism as a solution to the various problems within the rural society, the
widespread discontent from the rural society depicted the ways in which the needs of the urbanites
and the rural society came into conflict.
I will explore the ways in which the

World War II World War II was a pivotal event of the 20th century and a defining moment for
America and the world. It shifted the borders of the globe. It forever changed those who lived
through it, and shaped generations to come. It has been called the last great war. Nothing could
have prepared
the soldiers at Omaha Beach for the battle they are about to wage. Filled with hope and resolve,
none of them knows if they will survive the small strip of beach ahead of them. As his eyes scan
the Normandy coast, Captain John Miller (TOM HANKS) believes that getting himself and his men

Some recoiled at the graphic violence, others praised the realism, while some questioned whether
war is really like that at all. The percentage of an audience who can accurately comment is surely
small.
What is abundantly clear is that in the massive body of films that deal with World War II, this is
one that pulls no punches. It consistently explores the unpredictable and random violence that
engulfs and blinds the men within it. The plot serves only to drag a squad of characters through
uncharted peril with few fitting the normal pre determined hero tag of war films. They re off on a
PR mission to find a Private James Ryan and take him home to his mother, who is shortly to learn
that her other three sons are dead.
While the men are constantly under threat from the Germans, they are not engaged in a key
battle that will help win the war. Without a major event to eclipse proceedings, a greater
examination of each man s personal fears is allowed to shine through. This is not a film that will
please everyone and quite rightly so. But no movie about any war can seek to provide answers to
every question. What Spielberg does is create a world of frightening carnage in which a small story
is played out. As such, this is an important film that deconstructs

Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of Trade Blocs
Trade Blocs
A regional trading bloc is an intergovernmental agreement or treaty among a group of countries,
acting together for a common purpose of removing or reducing trade barriers of trading between the
participating nations. It is a form of economic integration, creating high level of globalization and
regionalisation. Economic integration is the integration of economies on different aspects of trade
and thus, reduction of its barriers among the countries. World trade is being shaped by economic
integration, whose level defines the degree and nature of economic relationship among countries.
Types of Trade Blocs:

Disadvantages of trading blocs
1.Loss by Trade Policies
Free Trade benefits from trading among different blocs are lost.
The countries may also, lose their resources while trading it to the more efficient members and
may become a country will less resources for future and cause its downfall.
2.Competitiveness of trade
Trading blocs may like to distort world trade, and thus, reduce the benefits of the specialisation and
exploit the competitive advantages of the members.
3.Monopoly
The firms of the member countries may merge to become a largest and leading monopoly. This
would lead to the diseconomies of Scale, if this becomes very large.
4.Trade diversion Inefficiencies
When trade gets diverted from an efficient producer which are outside the trading area, is called
Trade Diversion. This would lead to the loss of efficient producers. Example: Inefficient farmers of
European Union protected from low cost imports that may come from developing countries.
5.Trade Disputes
One regional trading bloc lead to the making of another trading bloc, leading to the trade disputes.
Example: In 1970s, reacting to the UK joining European Market, various former UK colonies
formed own trading

My First Semester At Byu Idaho
I was desperately lost while studying theater during my first semester at Brigham Young
University Idaho. It was what I enjoyed during high school, but I want a career where I am able to
spend time with my family and one where I d be in a position to improve the lives of others. After
taking my first acting class I knew it wasn t what I wanted to do. Since then, I have considered
everything from psychology to accounting. Research and volunteer opportunities, advice from
trusted mentors, and my educationplayed roles in my decision process. I learned to manage my
time wisely in order to spend time with my family. Most importantly, I was able to decide on a
career in optometry, and have since planned out what I want to do after optometry school.
After my first semester at BYU Idaho, I took a two year break from school to serve as a missionary
for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Africa. I dedicated my time to serve the
people surrounding me. Usually the service was simple things: helping wash laundry by hand,
preparing meals, cleaning or even building a mud home. I enjoyed every bit of service I was
able to offer. My parents taught me the importance of hard work, and my upbringing is the reason
I find joy in serving others. This joy has guided me as I have chosen my career path.
I have a beautiful wife and a one year old daughter. Being a father has taught me how to manage
my time more efficiently. Our daughter was born the week before finals. The first

Analysis Of Nothing Gold Can Stay
Nothing gold can stay was written by Robert Frost in 1923. Frost was a U.S. citizen. Frost did
write a different copy dealing with his fear of a second world war because he thought that might
be the end of humanity. He only gave the original to people he trusted but released this copy to the
world instead. although the original poem is about the world ending this version is about losing
something new and good so it becomes a story which makes it a narrative.
The meaning of the title of the poem is slightly hidden because it refers to the meeting of the poem,
but the meaning of the poem is hidden by figurative language. Nothing Gold can Stay could be
interpreted different from person to person however there are only 2 meanings to the title. There is
no antithesis or historical reference to this poem.
There is little repetition in this poem and there are no repeated phrases but one repeated word is
gold .
This poem time frame is from spring to winter because the poem starts with the a bud then it
becomes a flower it changes then begins to die and you can arrive at this conclusion by the phrase
dawn goes down to day and nothing gold can stay. Those phrases both refer to a change whether
metaphorically or literally.
Eden is mentioned in this poem however Eden wasn t really a character in my eyes but rather a
form of personification, so kind of like mother nature but not exactly the same.
This version of the poem isn t the whole poem but rather is pieces of another different

Napalm Vietnam War
This is about the Vietnam War; Weapons used such as chemicals, areas of the war, the effects of
it, and why it happened. There was a variety of chemical weapons used during the Vietnam War.
One was Napalm. Napalm was used extensively by the U.S. Napalm was first used in
flamethrowers for U.S. ground troops; they burned down sections of forest and bushes in hopes of
eliminating any enemy guerrilla fighters. Later on in the war B 52 Bombers began dropping
napalm bombs and other incendiary explosives. They created an aluminum soap mixed with
naphthenic acid from crude oil and palmitic acid from coconut oil. The new agent, when combined
with gasoline, made for a cheap, brutally effective weapon; Napalm. Another chemical used during

It s natural that a historical film would include period specific songs, music played an outsized
role in the Vietnam War era. Whereas during past wars, musicians wrote songs to unite
Americans, Vietnam era music spoke to the growing numbers of disillusioned citizens, and
brought attention to the cultural fissures that were beginning to emerge. Young people
embraced swing music for what historians David Stowe and Lewis Erenberg describe as the
genre s democratic ethos; the way Americans of different races and ethnicities enjoyed a new
kind of sound with an upbeat tempo and new dance moves such as the Lindy Hop. Music started
bringing the people together on both sides of the war. Music also filled a void in the country s
media landscape. Hollywood didn t release films that probed the complex nature of the Vietnam
War until years after the fall of Saigon. While television news broadcasting became more critical
after the Tet Offensive, the big networks were hesitant to promote entertainers who were vocally
opposed to the war. Popular programs would censor artists who planned to perform protest
music. People would use music and music lyrics to do protests against the war. Lots of artwork
was made during this time, many artwork was about the Vietnam War in some way. Other
artwork was about nations coming together and civilians coming together as a nation. Fashion
during the Vietnam War. Women in the 1960s usually worn bell bottom pants, decorated felt
poodle skirts, and blue jeans, inspired by James Dean, became fairly popular. They were often
worn with collared army style jackets. Accompanied by pointed toe stiletto heels, blue suede
loafers, and saddle shoes. And hair styled in a ponytail for girls and a crew cut or flat top for
boys. Due to the involvement of the French in the Vietnam War, French fashion became well
known in the United States. Men s fashion was inspired by the uniforms worn my soldiers fighting

John Adams And Abraham Lincoln
Despite the disparity in the popularity ratings between the two presidents, John Adams and
Abraham Lincoln are both indispensable figures in American history. In times of crisis, both of
these men made big, consequential decisions to keep the country from falling apart. However,
while Lincoln is commemorated for abolishing slavery and leading the Union in the Civil War,
John Adamsis remembered for the mistakes of his presidency the Alien and Sedition Acts he issued
that took away certain constitutional rights endowed to the American people. Both presidents
thought they were doing what was necessary at the time to keep the United Statesfrom falling apart,
but the contrasting approaches they used left opposite impressions. This can be contributed to the
fact that almost all aspects of their lives, personal and professional, were opposite. So, while both
presidents essentially did the same thing in saving America from falling apart, their reputations are
so different now because of the way their lives and situations influenced the decisions they made.
HBO s John Adams begins in 1770, as the colonies are on their way to revolting against the
British Crown. The series begins with Adams life right before the revolution and follows the rest
of his life for the first fifty or so years of American history. Before having anything to do with
politics, John was a lawyer, a fairly successful one. He and his wife Abigail have an amazing
relationship. Abigail makes up for all of John s

Child Protective Services In Child Abuse Cases
Child Protective Services (CPS) promotes the safety and well being of children through
intervention in reported child abuse cases. The goal of CPS is to keep children in their homes
when it is deemed safe, and to provide them with a safe environment when they are determined to
be at risk. CPS workers have a wide range of roles that they must play on a day to day basis.
Firstly, they must do a lot of desk work, receiving and evaluating reports of child abuse cases, most
of which are made over the phone. They then must use reasoning and investigative skills to
determine if the child is at risk. If so, then CPS workers counsel and rehabilitate the child and
family. They often provide support for each family for up to one year. If a child cannot be put
back into their home, then workers also must coordinate an adoptive home, foster parents, or refer
the child and their family to other support services. CPS workers follow a standard protocol when
responding to a child abuse report. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the child s immediate safety is not at risk, then the worker will work with the family to reduce
the risk of future maltreatment and help the child cope with the effects of previous maltreatment.
If the child s environment is deemed a risk to their well being, then the CPS worker will
intervene to protect the child from harm. The child typically goes to a foster home as counseling
begins. While the goal of the CPS worker is to be able to reunite the child with their family after
intensive counseling, they also begin to develop a concurrent plan. This means seeking out a safe

The Korean Art Exhibition At The Los Angeles County Museum...
Korea has met many religious ideas and practices throughout the nation s history. Other than the
more indigenous ideologies like shamanism, Confucianism and Buddhism have been most
influential in ancient Korea prior to the onset of Japanese colonialism. The Korean Art Exhibition at
the Los Angeles County Museum of Art showed multiple ritual objects such as incense burners and
ritual bottles (kundika) used in Buddhist practices during the KoryЕЏ period, suggesting that the
religion was prevalent during that time. The museum also displayed a wooden tablet (wonpae) used
in the ChosЕЏn period for Buddhist rituals; however, the exhibit did not forget to mention that
Confucianism was the official ideology of the ChosЕЏn. The relationship between the two set of
beliefs has been dynamic throughout Korean history. Buddhism dominated religious practices in
the KoryЕЏ period, but during the transition from the KoryЕЏ to the ChosЕЏn period, Neo
Confucian scholars overpowered its counterpart by calling for anti Buddhism reforms. The
bringing of new ideas by Neo Confucians was necessary in replacing the rich and overpowered
Buddhism religion and attaining a new order of virtuous and meritorious leadership. Buddhism, for
most of Koreas history, was the prominent religion that exerted influence over the Korean people,
both elites and commoners. It reached its peak in the KoryЕЏ period, during which many Buddhist
monasteries were built. The Buddhist community grew extensively along with the

Greg And Kino
Greg and Kino Have you ever seen or experienced changes such as someone s personality, morals,
or lifestyle in your life or someone else s because of a significant event? In the novel, The Pearl,
By John Steinbeck and the story The Treasure Of Lemon Brown by Walter Dean Myers, the
main characters are affected and changed both negatively and positively by an event that
happens to them. In The Pearl the main character a poor, Native American man named Kino
lives with his family and is content with his life even though he doesn t live a luxurious life.
Early in the story Kino s son Coyotito is stung by a scorpion, but Kino doesn t have enough
money to pay for a doctor. Later in the story, Kino s life takes a strange turn when he finds a very...

One example of how Kino feels about his family is Sometimes it rose to an aching chord that
caught the throat saying, this is safety, this is warmth, this is the whole. (3 Steinbeck). I know
that Kino feels positive about his family because the quote tells me that when Kino hears the
song of the family he feels complete. The quote also shows that Kino enjoys the song of the
family because it gives off a feeling of safety and warmth. Later in the story, Kino becomes
corrupted by the pearl and focuses more on selling the pearl instead of the safety of his family.
In chapter 5 Juana tries to throw the pearl in the ocean and Kino reacted violently, according to
the text He struck her in the face with a clenched fist and she fell among the boulders, and he
kicked her in the side. (59 Steinbeck). By analyzing the text I can infer that Kino cares about
Juana less than he did in the beginning of the story because of how he struck her to stop her from
throwing the pearl, instead of stopping her in a more gentle manor. I also believe that Kino is
more violent and has more rage because he struck Juana again with his foot when she fell to the
ground. Overall I think the pearl had very negative effects on Kino and corrupted him with

The Advantages Of Vernacular Architecture
Architecture is inhabited sculpture to serving human needs, apparently forgotten in modern age
architecture. However, there has been a dependence and increase on energy expending such as
cooling, heating, ventilation and lighting frameworks to accomplish human solace in structures. the
pattern has sensibly swung the other way. designers are grasping regionalism and cultural building
tradition, given that these structures have turned out to be vitality productive and sustainable. In
this season of urbanization and rapid technological advancement, there is still much to be gained
from the customary information of vernacular architecturein order to achieve sustainable.
Vernacular building design started when humanity was compelled to make utilization of the natural
resources from the region, and give them self house and solace which is receptive to the
atmosphere. It is an immaculate response to a distinctive individual s or society s building needs,
even before the architect, to built house as per their situation. The humanistic longing to be socially

Indeed, even during a time where materials are accessible well past our district, it is important to
consider the exemplified energy lost in the transportation of the materials to the development site.
The advantages of vernacular building design have been acknowledged all through the vast piece of
history, and are currently making an arrival among green structural engineering and draftsmen. So
as to advance later on of structural planning and manageable building, we should first pick up
learning not as an investigation of past tradition, but rather as a commitment to new techniques,

The Study Of Patterns In Psychology
The participants in the sample of this study were 64 young (18 38; 41 female), right hand native
speakers of German. The study s design was observing and comparing brain activity patterns during
study of visually presented words to examine remembering and forgetting in a later oral free recall
task, while manipulating deep versus shallow processing during the presentation of stimuli. Deep
encoding was operationalized by fMRI increased activity in the left hippocampus, eliciting
functional connectivity with larger scale semantic networks. Shallow encoding was operationalized
by increased activity in the same brain areas as deep encoding (although weaker) in addition to
qualitatively distinct connectivity changes. Procedures for the study... Show more content on

In both study conditions, successful encoding was associated with significant activations in the
bilateral hippocampus in addition to the dorsolateral and ventrolateral prefrontal cortex. These
activations were more pronounced during deep processing verses shallow processing. The results
of this study is consistent with recent research by showing that successful encoding for later
episodic memory is associated with increased neural connectivity, which is the precondition during
successful retrieval. Memory traces reside in neocortical areas, coordinated by the hippocampus.
This hippo campal cortical connectivity increases during successful encoding and we can see that
this was more pronounced during successful deep level encoding, which means deep level
encoding leaves behind more distinctive and retrievable memory traces. I think this study has good
construct validity. Depth of processing (deep level and shallow level) was measured by the
hypothesized activated brain regions during the successful deep and shallow encoding of verbal
information, which was consistent with previous literature on brain scans in levels of processing
and successful memory formation. This study would not be very high on external validity. The

Diabetic Care Plan For Diabetes
Diabetic Care Plan African Americans are almost twice as likely to be diagnosed with diabetes as
non Hispanic whites and suffer from the complications of this chronic illness (US Department of
Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health, 2015). Some of the complications includes
vision loss, amputation of a limb, and end stage renal disease. The reason for choosing this illnessis
because a family member was recently diagnosed with diabetes mellitustype two at the age of thirty
two. She is from the African Americandescent and has been living with this chronic illness since
her teenager years. After the family member began to learn about diabetes and the symptoms
associated with this disease, she realized some of the symptoms of diabetes was displayed
during her teenager years. The family member is willing and eager to learn about diabetes
mellitus. She is ready to regain control over her health and find the ways to effectively manage
this chronic illness. As a health care professional empowering and bringing awareness to the
African American culture, can help reduce some of the complications associated with this
chronic illness. Diabetes is one of the Healthy People 2020 topic and their goal is to Reduce the
disease and economic burden of diabetes mellitus (DM) and improve the quality of life for all
persons who have, or are at risk for, DM (United States Department of Health and Human Services

My Experience At The Teton Valley Ranch Camp Essay

more confident woman.
When I submitted the lengthy application to the Teton Valley Ranch Camp in Dubois, Wyomingmy
mind kept sinking back to the fear of flying away to my comfortable close knit home to work at a
ranch camp 2,610 miles away. My mom persisted that I should do something different with my
summer. After being a camper at the Teton Valley Ranch Camp, I thought it would be nice to
contribute some of my time to the place that made me outdoorsy and confident woman. However,
I did not want to leave the summer before college started. I wanted to stay in the same routine
with my friends who lived on Nantucket Island. I did not want to meet new coworkers, far away
from home was daunting. I enjoyed my circle of friends in Nantucket because I was comfortable
with my everyday routine. Visions of anxiety swept over my mind; the fear crept over my mind
with the years of high school which constrained my personality. The boarding school years
trapped me in like a prison with no welcoming smiles. I wanted to return to my happy place in
Nantucket with my friends. Despite my fears, I continued to think of the outcome of going to a
new place far away, that could be life changing. Life is not about being sheltered and always
feeling comfortable, the bumpy rollercoaster is the best way to

Summary Of The Foundation And Manifesto Of Futurism By...
The first Manifesto I read was The Foundation and Manifesto of Futurism by Marinetti. Marinetti
highlights various concepts behind the futurist movement. Throughout his manifesto he describes
old versus new and personifies several places and machines. Like when he spoke of his automobile
he said We approach the the three panting beasts to stroke their burning breasts, full of love and
admiration. (Marinetti 643). He says that finally the old and mystical ideals and myths are far
behind them. He portrays these engines as demonic, but however his description sounds he isn t
demonizing technology, he is in fact admiring it. He also encourages people to take these risky
leaps of faith. He highlights the point that humans need conflict and revolutions bring out change....

Like Marinetti in the previous manifesto, Duxiu also talks about the change from old to new,
however he states Revolution means the elimination of the old and the changeover to the new...
(Duxiu 647) He then speaks about how Europe has their own literary revolution but the people of
his culture do not revolt due to Ethics, morality, and culture (Duxiu 647) He then proceeds to talk
about the revolutions or advancements they had within their literature. He also mentions how other
writers only skills were in imitating the ancients and deceiving people... (Duxiu 650) The whole
thing is basically a criticism of the three mentioned in the manifesto and why European Literature

As professional nurses, it is our duty to demonstrate improved safety for our patients, visitors and guests to the facilities in which we serve. It is also our duty to prevent adverse events and to view unfortunate incidents as learning opportunities to achieve a holistic view of patient care. By improving patient safety, we accept responsibility for more positive patient outcomes and a successful hospital stay. In reviewing the data set provided for this study, a large number of falls occurred between the hours of 3 a.m. and 7 a.m. This is the time that a phlebotomist typically enters the room for a morning blood draw or the nurse wakes the patient for a vital sign check. The patients are still in a daze, and it is possible after the clinical personnel leaves, the patient tries to climb out of bed unattended, resulting in a fall (Stempniak, 2015). In addition to the falls data, the Walden University case study (2015) reported One full time employee (FTE) of nursing assistants was moved from the night shift to the evening shift (Data Dashboard, 2015). This change in staff may contribute to the increased falls seen during the overnight hours. An extra nursing assistant would be helpful as a variable rounder, someone to help the nurses and other nursing assistants respond quickly if a patient s call bell is ringing or the patient is in distress. Our report shows an increase in fall risks from 7 am to 11 am daily. This time coincides with patient care, where nursing staff may be attending to one individual patient, often ... White illustrates the author s childhood memories with description and imagery theme but have different personal experiences and issues. An American Childhood , by Anne Dillard was about her old neighborhood. Dillard depicts her childhood from the age of five through high school, in 1950 s America. According to Dillard, to find the source of happiness, one must resist the world to try to seal that character out and in Once more to the lake by E.B. White also reflects his childhood memories with his parents and later with his son and express those certain elements of life, such as the enjoyment of the youth, continue forever for a different generation. This reflection allows the readerto imagine the memories of a son and a father enjoying the America dream, a vacation. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fourth issues which we are presented now is when secondary research is used to compare data from different areas or different time periods. Its purpose is to highlight the differences and similarities surrounding the desired data. Certain things should be taken into consideration like the definitions which were used to create data categories are the same or the fact that the way in which the collected data was presented should not change over time. The final issue presented in using a secondary research method is quality. Based on the source of the data, if it is in the public domain and the source is a trustworthy one, than its more than unlikely that it s deliberately incorrect. Also, more research is essential to see other types of data from a different stance as not always the full picture is presented regarding it. (Newby, 2010) Secondary research tends to be far less costly and time consuming when applied compared to primary research. Most of the times, secondary data is available at no cost with the use of internet or through certain preparations with the company or a certain government agency. (Vartanian, 2010) At the same time, this type of data allows you to access information based on a large and diverse subject, business, project which access could be hard to obtain in order to gather primary data. In the seventh chapter of the book, Dan explains why people overvalue their possessions and how this overestimation hinders our life. He considers that our perspectives can be changed dramatically due to overvaluing what we have and gives several instances of proving his thoughts. The first example is the experiment at Duke University where students should spend an enormous amount of time in tents to get a ticket for a basketball game. • 11. Inequality And Oppression The aim of this essay is to address the problem of inequality and oppression through three separate texts, The Second Sex, The Death of the Profane and Killing Rage. The Second Sex focuses on the woman and her role compared to man. The Death of the Profane and Killing Rage are both texts that describe experiences about the constant racism felt by blacks. To thoroughly examine these texts and how they are related to oppression and inequality it is important to first define what each mean. Oppression and inequality each have different definitions but they go hand in hand. Oppression is the state of being subject to prolonged unjust treatment. While inequality is defined as lacking equality, equality is the state of being equal especially in status,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Simone de Beauvoir focuses on women and their permanent otherness, women will always be this other . They are never the subject or absolute like man is. This constant oppression of women is different of others, women are not a minority, they are numerically almost equal to man and yet man has still been able to create dominance over them. Man is the superior, they are the absolute and women are the other. Oppositely, bell hooks and Patricia Williams speak on the inequality of minorities, specifically blacks. Racism and killing rage are heavily connected. Racism is strong and deep; it is the phantom in the room. Killing rage is a rage that is felt after constant unjust treatment, it is a rage that is healing. This killing rage should be viewed as a passion for freedom. I think a passion for freedom should be the forefront change. This passion for freedom can be connected to each author. A passion for freedom can aid in changing the permanent otherness women have faced and continue to face. Otherness is expressed through inequalities in pay and the way women are viewed. In John Womack s Zapata and the Mexican Revolution, a story of one state s drive for agrarian reform and its people s evolving mission was told, with Emiliano Zapata as a pivotal leader. The dynamics of the revolution, however, reach deeper than Womack s account portrays. While Womack documents the revolutionary path of the Zapatistas from the southern state of Morelos, the story of Pancho Villa, an arguably parallel character fighting for states in the North against the repressive powers of General Victoriano Huerta, reads more as a subplot. The image of a somewhat cohesive revolutionary party working towards peace put forth by Womack draws a stark line between the bandit enemy described by General Huerta and the Zapatistas. Brunk, in his writings on Zapata, challenges this narrative by exploring the gray space that does not allow for easy delineation between revolutionaries and bandits. Rather than existing as an arbitrary offshoot of Zapatismo, banditry represented the pursuit of local political (and economic) goals (Brunk, 349). Womack does acknowledge the insoluble village rivalries that only compromise could ease , but does not relate them directly to feuds involving bandits (Womack, 233). Heritage languages specifically have impacted the state of California as the diverse languages enable first, second, and third generation speakers to all connect and communicate. Throughout California, there are specific regions in which a particular languageis most prevalent. Languages like Hebrew, Italian, Armenian, Korean, and variations of Chinese are represented with their own sector in California. These areas strengthen the ethnolinguistic vitality of these languages. Previously to this class, I was not aware of the different dialects that were common in California. If I were to hear someone speaking Chicano English or African American English I would unrightfully assume that they were speaking English incorrectly. However, throughout this course I learned each of these dialects contains their own unique rules, which make them grammatically and linguistically correct. Even though these dialects are linguistically equal, that does not make them socially equal. Besides accented English, non English speakers are generally judged based on their accent. This however, is linguistic profiling, which is illegal in the United States. It is hard... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The meaning of discipleship is found in Luke 9:23 when Jesus said Then he said to them al: Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily, and follow me (NIV). Jesus called men into discipleship and completed His mission with disciples. Placing Jesusfirst is the starting focus of a disciple, for if you do not place Jesus first, you cannot truly be a follower. Reimar Schultze stated that We cannot become sanctified prior to discipleship, even as we cannot cross an ocean prior to getting into a boat. The process of sanctification only begins in discipleship. Win, Grow, and Send There are 3 major concepts regarding being a disciple and making disciples: (1) Win, (2) Grow, and (3) Send. These are the most important stages of discipleship. The first one is winning of souls into the body of Christ. Winning represents the fact that there is a loser Satan. Being in unification with the Holy Spirit, the disciple wins souls by telling the good news through evangelism. Prayer is the first step in effective evangelism to win the lost souls. John 17:20 says, Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word (KJV). Through prayer we offer ourselves for the lost, just as the Bible stated in John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this that a man lay down his life for his friends (KJV). • 34. The Reform Movement Of Rural Canada During The Nineteenth... The search for reform in rural Canada during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries reveals a deep connection between educational movements and social reform. The readings for the first three weeks of this course have provided an overview of how social reformers during this period were keen to promote an urban and modern orientation to direct social reformmovements in rural Canada. Often, this perspective came into conflict with the needs of the rural society at the time. Therefore, the widespread discontent within the rural society was illustrated through the various efforts of social reform in Canada during the 1860s 1960s. The first set of readings of this course outline the ways in which the hopes of the social reformers were to promote reform based on an urban and modern orientation through movements in agriculture, social welfare, and education. In doing so, the social reformers encouraged three kinds of developments: i) the promotion of an urban orientation through the reform of agricultural education, ii) the promotion reform through social legislation, and finally iii) the promotion of reform in rural education to progressive systems of education. Although the reformers saw the promotion of progressivism as a solution to the various problems within the rural society, the widespread discontent from the rural society depicted the ways in which the needs of the urbanites and the rural society came into conflict. Admission costs $4 for adults, $3 for children and seniors, and $2 for college students with ID proof. The museum was a complex rather than one building. The complex was surrounded by a black metal fence. The main building itself maintained its original style. In the late 1920s, the area was build as the Southern Pacific Depot freight line. It ran from Brownsville to Edinburg until 1952. Then, the loading/unloading building began restoration to become a museum. Finally, the Historic Brownsville Museum opened its doors in 1986. The complex contained three buildings: the main culture building, a transportation gallery, and the educational building. The main culture building included artifacts in different categories. Young people embraced swing music for what historians David Stowe and Lewis Erenberg describe as the genre s democratic ethos; the way Americans of different races and ethnicities enjoyed a new kind of sound with an upbeat tempo and new dance moves such as the Lindy Hop. Music started bringing the people together on both sides of the war. Music also filled a void in the country s media landscape. Hollywood didn t release films that probed the complex nature of the Vietnam War until years after the fall of Saigon. While television news broadcasting became more critical after the Tet Offensive, the big networks were hesitant to promote entertainers who were vocally opposed to the war. He highlights the point that humans need conflict and revolutions bring out change.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
