Simon Bolivar Essay
THE BEGINNING
Simon Jose Antonio de la Santisima Trinidad Bolivar was born in Caracas on July 24, 1783 to don
Juan Vicente Bolivar y Ponte y dona Maria de la Concepcion Palacios y Blanco. Simon received an
excellent education from his tutors, Simon Rodriquez and Andres Bello. By the age of nine Bolivar
lost both his parents, and was being taken care of by his uncle don Carlos Palacios. At the age of
fifteen in 1799 he traveled to Spain to receive a better education. In Spain, Bolivar met Maria Teresa
Rodriquez del Toro y Alaysa, they married in 1802. Right after Bolivar and his new wife returned to
Venezuela, she died of malaria or yellow fever. Her death greatly effected Bolivar, he vowed not to

However he was able to recoup his troops in 1813 and institute the Venezuelan Second Republic with
himself as the ruler. By this time Bolivar had not fully established himself as a leader from the
warlords and other patriots. Without their support he was chased out of Venezuela. He took refuge in
Jamaica, till 1817. With the help of King of Haiti who provided him with guns he returned to his
continent. While returning he escaped assination several times, and was constantly on the move in the
rainforests. While doing this he gained support of the plainsman, internationals, and his own
countrymen.
THE WIN
The Battle of Boyaca of August 7, 1819 ended as a victory for Bolivar, and his army. That year he
created the Gran Colombia, a federation including Venezuela, Colombia, Panama, and Ecuador.
Bolivar served as president of the new Republic. On May 23, 1822 all of northern S. America was
liberated and all Royalist opposition eliminated. Bolivar had larger plans for the continent, he wanted
to liberate Peru. In September of 1823 Bolivar arrived in Peru by August 1824 Bolivar s troops
defeated the Spanish army in the battle of Junin. On December 9, 1824 all Spains presence was
eliminated in S. America. On August 6, 1825 Congress of Peru created the Republic of Bolivia in
honor of Bolivar.

Citizen Kane Argumentative Essay
Penelope Huston, a film critic said, On seeing the first time, one got the feeling that if the cinema
could do that, it could do anything. Yes! He is talking about Citizen Kane (1941), a film directed by
Orson Welles, which undoubtedly made cinematic advances on many fronts. In this argumentative
piece of writing I will be identifying significant characteristic of narrative form shared by two films:
Citizen Kane and on the other hand, A Tale of Two Sisters. Strictly focusing on the manipulation of
story time by the plot.
Citizen Kane regarded as a classical film, which employs creative storytelling techniques. Acting
almost as a biographical film, Citizen Kane portrays a long period of time realistically, allowing the
characters to age as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the first flashback, Thatcher s diary tells of a scene in which Kane loses control of his newspapers
during the Depression. By this time Kane is a middle aged man. Yet in the second flashback, Bernstein
describes young Kane s arrival at the inquirer office and his engagement to Emily. The plot demands
that we sort these events into chronological story order. How can we forget Rosebud ? Citizen Kane
doesn t reveal that much of the story action about Rosebud, thus restricting the narration until the final
part of the film. There is definitely uncertainty about Rosebud throughout the story. Citizen Kane uses
different narrators to transmit story information fulfills several functions. It offers a plausible
depiction of the process of investigation, since we expect any reporter to hunt down information
through interviews. More deeply, the plot s portrayal of Kane himself become more complex by
showing somewhat different sides of him, depending on who s talking about him. Moreover, the
multiple narrators make the film resemble one of Susan s jigsaw puzzles. We must put things together
piece by piece. The pattern of gradual revelation enhances curiosity what is it in Kane s past that he
associates with Rosebud? And suspense and also

John Robby Personality
High school is its own society. There is a social standard that everyone must follow. It is not like when
people are children. When someone is a child, they are friends with everyone. The moment that they
walk up to someone they are instant friends. They could talk for hours, and just start playing games
with each other. High school is not like that. Everyone is in groups, and what group a student is in will
influence their personality. Once someone is in a group, it is almost impossible to change. In Our Time
, John Wideman shows how many things influence Robby s personality, which in the end, caused him
to commit crimes. Society and his friend group are just two of those things. Robby s life may have
turned out much differently if he would have grown up in a different neighborhood that had more
people of the same race as himself. His life would ve also been very different if he started hanging
around a different type of people. You know, partying and stuff in Garfield because that s where the
niggers were (Wideman 643). Robby hung out with people who liked to party, which caused him to do
the same.Robby s life was influenced by his surroundings, and so did mine when I first entered high
school. High school also causes people to grow up faster. There is a mountain of responsibility that
affects people s lives . In Our Secret , Susan Griffin tells the reader about the pressure that Heinrich
Himmler s father put on Heinrich. The weight of that hand could not be comforting.

Persuasive Essay On Service Dogs
If the fake service dog scam continues to escalate, real service dogs, and the privileges and respect
they are entitled to, will be in jeopardy. (Lichtenberg). Service dogs are needed for people with PTSD,
Disabilities, Clinical Depression and GAD. A lot of people rely on these wonderful animals to help
them get through the day. For example, people who use dogs to help with depression ,what if they get
into a bad mood and attempt suicide, the dog will get someone s attention or can even call 911.
Soldiers with PTSD suffer from flashbacks and the dog can calm soldiers down and help them know
what is real and not. They are not meant to help people who just want to take their dog into the store
or have stressful or bad days. We all get those. Service dogs are beneficial to the world and save lives,
you should not be able to just order a kit off the Internet to license your dog to be a service dog. Lives
are at risk and its wrong to mock the need of a service dog.
The beginnings of therapy dog programs started in World War II with a yorkshire named Smoky. The
first systematic use of therapy dogs is attributed to Elaine Smith. Smith noticed how well people
responded to their dog and that a trained dog could help people with medical needs. By the time 1976
came around, Smith opened a program for training dogs to visit institutions and these programs started
to grow.
There are 3 different types of service dogs people can have: Emotional Support Animals, Therapy
Animals, and Service Animals. Emotional Support Animals have one task and that is to provide
comfort and support, emotionally, to someone who needs it and has a documented health condition.
Therapy Animals are registered through an agency and their purpose is to provide therapeutic value to
those who need it. Service animals are trained to perform tasks the owner simply cannot do on their
own, guiding blind people, detecting seizures, helping people who have lost legs or arms.
Not any dog can just be a service dog. The dogs take almost up to a year to train! A service dog has to
learn behaviors to help whoever the dog is supposed to help. Some examples of what they need to do
is call 911, answer a doorbell, bring water for medications or provide a

Any +ve int. 2 is sum of 2 prime numbers. Two questions. How do we prove this, but also CAN we
ever prove it. Third problem became the great mathematical challenge of the age. Turing solved it, but
in the process established a system that is still useable today. Am indebted to Oxford university course
on computing for the following, which I reproduce without a full understanding. Turing s (successful)
approach to the decidability problem involved the design and use of an imaginary machine. This is the
same technique...gedanken...that was used by Albert Einstein, in relation to relativity and in
Schrodinger s Cat reference quantum mechanics. Turing s machine used a continuous tape, which can
be as long as required, which carries a series of cells. This passes under a read/write head that can read
and if required change the symbol under it. The head views one symbol at a time and, can: move, or
not move, the tape one cell in either direction; read and /or change the symbol written on that cell; or
change states. The states are a finite number of conditions, e.g. start, add, carry, return and stop.
Different sets of states will be needed for different problems. Turing was able to show that if we first
assume a solution does exist then we can show that this would lead to a completely impossible
situation. Hence a solution does not exist (proof by contradiction, a standard method in mathematics.).
When Turing went to show his

Decision making is the most important aspect of any matter...
Decision making is the most important aspect of any matter one confronts in the physical world. The
success or failure of a project, business, operation, company etc. is directly proportional to the logical
reasoning carried out to reach a decision. Bad/ suboptimal decisions can ruin/damage business,
project, reputation and careers. Past few decades of research into the decision making paradigm has
highlighted that bad decisions are a byproduct of distortions and biases that incapacitate our reasoning.
Most of our decision making is heuristic in nature that serves perfectly well in most of the situations.
However, when the problem is large enough, one tends to ignore or poorly identify the details that
must be taken into account in order ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problem of finding an optimal solution under given constraints belongs to the discipline of
mathematical optimization that includes methods like linear programming, dynamic programming,
integer programming, Pontryagin s maximum principle and nonlinear programming. Linear
programming has been popular since its introduction and has helped solve many real world problems
yet it suffers from a grave limitation i.e. the real world is not linear which restricts its use to linear
optimization problems or to the ones that can be approximated as linear models. Problems with strong
nonlinearities will not give a feasible solution if approximated via linear models. Nonlinear
programming addresses these limitations but is far more difficult to implement and needs more
computational power to solve problems. In this paper we review the nonlinear programming technique
and the way it can help solve a complex optimization problem. The paper is organized as follows. In
section 2 we define the optimization problem and its mathematics. In section 3 we discuss the
nonlinear programming, its origin, uses and the software programs that can be used to aid problem
solving. Section 4 is an example of optimization problem and its solution via nonlinear programming.
In section 5, we give the conclusion.

Mathematically an optimization problem is defined as follows: where is called the objective or cost
function to be optimized subject to m inequality constraints

Active Listening Can Be Described In Brief As Listening
Active listening can be described in brief as listening to a person carefully and with an open mind,
which endeavors to fetch a grasp of the other on a greatly profound level. Guidelines for active
listening is to give people your attention, be ready to paraphrase, use questions if you don t
understand, acknowledge the others person feelings, encourage if the other person appears uncertain,
do not react or respond in other ways until it is clear that the other person has finished. (The role of
Active listening in conflict resolution, 2012). [1] For example, you are the accounting manager of a
company and you have two accountants Sarah and John. John was employed since two months and

Clarification includes questions that seek to clear uncertainties and fetch more understanding of the
other person s intentions and fears. Misunderstood or inadequate information is the main barrier to
understanding; that s why clarification is important. After that, you should recognize the other person s
feelings. This is called digging. It concentrates on the feelings of a person without making them the
clear focus of the argument. Observing emotional reactions adds a further aspect to the understanding
of a person s situation. It is mainly helpful when there seems to be an inconsistency between the
content of a message and the person s feelings as it permits us to discover the speaker s actual
approach toward a subject. Subsequently, you should see if the other person seems to be doubtful or
uncertain. You should acknowledge the feelings that a person is experiencing as it is an influential
evidence of our awareness and serious attempt to understand his situation. (The role of Active
listening in conflict resolution, 2012). [3] Once more, it s essential that, once these workers are
required to resolve their arguments, you should attempt to understand their feelings and make them
feel noticed. If the accounting division is small and you cannot reschedule employees or workers
straightforwardly, you may think of modifying their work structure, so they should not work together
as much as possible. This is not perfect in most cases, but it s a tiny compromise to

Massachusetts Bay Colonies Dbq
In the spring of 1630, John Winthrop and his group of Puritan immigrants arrived on the shores of the
Massachusetts Bay. There they founded the Massachusetts Bay Colony, an exclusively Puritan
settlement based on the strict religious ideas of the colonists. As the colony expanded from the 1630s
to the 1660s, these strict Puritan ideas and values influenced its economic development by putting the
focus of the colony on the religion instead of on the creation of a settlement for monetary or expansive
profit, its political development, by and its social development, by regulating the way other religions,
women, and education were treated. While some of the other new colonies in America were founded

Their government was to allow no religious freedom, much like that of England. Though the Puritan
colonists had left England to flee religious persecution, they continued with the persecution of other
religions in their own colony. Nathaniel Ward states, He that is willing to tolerate any religion, or
discrepant way of religion, besides his own, unless it be in matters merely indifferent, either doubts of
his own or is not sincere in it... (Doc F). His words, and the beliefs of the colonists, show that only the
Puritan religion was socially acceptable. This resulted in a split between many of the Puritan colonists.
When Roger Williams, a prominent Puritan preacher spoke out about religious freedom, he was exiled
from the colony. Anne Hutchinson, whose strong religious convictions were also at odds with Puritan
theology, was banished from the colony, along with her family and group of followers, and
excommunicated from the church. Hutchinson s treatment was even harsher than Williams s, however,
because she was a woman, and the Puritan s religious beliefs also governed the treatment of women in
the colony. John Cotton, who wrote on the subject of God s power denoting the civil law, said, it is
good for the wife to acknowledge all power and authority to the husband... (Doc G). Married women

Liberal Arts Should Be Taught In College Essay
What is Being Taught in College?
What should colleges be teaching, is a question that many people are wanting an answer to. Should
colleges be teaching students liberal arts or should they just let liberal arts classes slip away? This a
controversy between students on every college campus. It is important to the students, because they
want what is best for themselves during college. I believe that students need to be taught liberal arts to
help better their learning abilities. In my own experience, I have learned that liberal arts classes may
be frustrating, but in the long run they have really helped to develop a better grasp on general
education. Liberal arts classes are a good way to begin college, instead of just jumping right in to a
major.
Colleges should teach liberal arts because they help students develop better learning skills. ... Show

Students will still learn the same way, whether there are a lot of students or a little. Smaller class size
do not make a student perform better, that is up to the student, not the class size. Students can learn in
any type of environment; class size does not matter when it comes to a students learning ability.
Learning is not about where the knowledge is learned, it is about how it is learned and if a student is
willing to learn it. Some might also oppose that colleges should not make students take liberal arts
classes. Liberal arts classes do not always help a student develop better learning skills. Some liberal
arts classes are not even relevant to a students major. Having to take classes that are not relevant to a
student can be overwhelming and frustrating for them. It is too expensive for them to have to pay for
classes that are not relevant to their major. Students should be able to choose what classes they want to

There are two types of power. Power over and power to. Power OVER is having the ability to get

would be the the KKK, police present during the civil rights protests, and Dr. King. Examples of
power to would be Dr. King, his family, and his civil rights supporters. I would even say the KKK is

violence against black and white civil rights activists in the process. In the movie, they beat and

Advantages And Effects Of Refugee Refugees
Refugee warriors are citizens of one state who crossed the border as a refugee and live in in a
neighboring country. Citizens live in camps on the borders of the state that they were born. In the
camps the refugees live in the refugee warriors conduct war against the regime that is in power or
control. Sometimes we feel sympathy for what they do and in other instances we may disapprove.
Whether we approve or disapprove their actions they are refugee warriors and if they have and if they
flee from their home and live in neighboring countries like refugee communities and start attacks
against the regime that is in power in their home from bases in the neighboring countries. There are
conditions in being a refugee warrior and to be a member a person s parents or grandparents fled from
a region in their place of origin and secondly the person uses violence to remove the regime that is in
control. The base for carrying on the conflict is placed in refugee communities in neighboring
countries. Refugee warriors weaken the regime in their home country and their host state but that
doesn t mean that refugee warriors are bad because free their own people from persecution.

Socialism is the general term for the political and economic theory that advocates a system of
collective or government ownership and management of the means of production and distribution of
goods. In Russia socialism was creating many problems such as bad harvests, industrial strikes and the
war with Japan in 1904, leading to economic difficulties and confidence in the Tsar faltering. In 1905
Father Gapon led a peaceful demonstration to see the Tsar hoping to alleviate the pressures on the
working class. However, troops opened fire on the group and many were killed or wounded. This
sparked off a revolution so the government made concessions, the Tsar promised working hours to be
reduced and a Duma was created to hear the working class grievances.
Socialism threatened the balance of power as each country needs its people to believe in their leader,
they also need the working class to be productive. Russia s working class lost faith in the Tsar after the
Duma was dissolved and the promises made by the Tsar were broken.

Vietnamese Migration To Australia Essay
Vietnamese Migration to Australia
Introduction
Vietnamese migration to Australia has had a large impact on Australia. There is a rich history on
Vietnamese migration to Australia. Prior to 1975, the numbers of Vietnamese migrants to Australia
and Victoria were low. These numbers were low but included many tertiary students, orphans from the
Vietnam War that was on during that time, and wives of Australian servicemen. Today, 48 years after
1970, the Vietnamese people form the sixth largest migrant group in Australia. The majority of people
with a Vietnamese heratige have settled in or around NSW or VIC.
Vietnam war
Before the Vietnam War in the 1960s and 1970, there were only about 700 Vietnamese people living in
Australia.
The 137,000 Vietnamese asylum seekers who arrived in Australia after the end of the Vietnam War in
1975 were the first he arrivals to come after the White Australia Policy ended Some came as boat
people, while others were from refugee camps in Southeast Asian countries. After the 1980s, family
reunion became the Australian government s focus for Vietnamese people seeking to live in Australia.

After the initial intake of refugees in the late 1970s, there was a second immigration peak in 1983 84,
most likely a result of the 1982 agreement between the Australian and Vietnamese governments (the
Orderly Departure Program) which allowed relatives of Vietnamese Australians to leave Vietnam and
migrate to Australia. A third immigration peak in the late 1980s seems to have been mainly due to
Australia s family reunion scheme. Over 90,000 refugees were processed, and entered Australia during
this time. relevant

In 1999, for the second time in American history, the President of the United States was impeached.
For those who don t know, impeachment means to bring a government official to trial over accusations
of illegal or shameful activity. President William Jefferson Clinton, more commonly known as Bill
Clinton, took office in 1992 as a leader who had promised to bring a more honest and better
government to the American people. This Democratic politician would have his two terms in office
defined by self inflicted shameful events. Clinton s affair with Monica Lewinsky would go down as
one of the most talked about scandals known to man.

Yes. There are more and more clogging up our roads. Most are cycling for leisure and not transport.
Cyclists on busy transport roads are slowing traffic and must be restricted to cycling paths off the
main roads. It is dangerous to move around cyclists when double white lines are present and difficult

Phonological Awareness Definition
A definition of phonological awareness from Yopp and Yopp (2000, p. 13) states that: Phonological
awareness is the ability to attend to and manipulate units of sound in speech independent of meaning .
Phonological awareness has two scopes and progresses from holistic and simple forms of awareness to
more complex forms. (Treiman Zukowski 1991; Cisero Royer 1995; Anthony et al. 2003). The first
scope is the size of a sound unit being attended to and manipulated. The second scope is the type of
manipulation of the sound of units and the child s ability not just to recognise the manipulation but to
also perform it. For example, adding or removing sounds from words, blending them together to make
words. The use of syllable awareness arises

Stents that deliver anti proliferative drugs from durable polymer, have reduced both clinical and
angiographic restenosis compared with bare metal stents without increasing adverse events (AEs)
including death or myocardial infarction (MI) (1 2). However, permanent polymers may be associated
with hypersensitivity reactions, delayed and/or incomplete vascular healing which may contribute to
an increased risk of both late (30 days to 1 year) and very late (beyond 1 year) stent thrombosis (ST)
which was particularly evident following first generation DES (5,6). Even newer durable polymers
with enhanced biocompatibility and improved clinical outcomes have still been incriminated in
chronic inflammation, thrombosis and neoatherosclerosis (which occurs earlier and with increased
prevalence following both 1st and 2nd generation DES (7,8,9). To reduce the risk of stent thrombosis

Patients With Coronary Artery Disease provides guidance regarding the duration of dual antiplatelet
therapy following DES deployment for both stable coronary artery disease (CAD) as well as acute
coronary syndromes (ACS) (10). Patients should receive clopidogrel (or an alternative P2Y12

Franks Casket and Beowulf
Runic inscriptions have been found not only in Anglo Saxon poetry but also in archaeologicial
discoveries like the Clermont or Franks casket.
Runic inscriptions have been discovered on coins and various other objects, the most important being
the beautiful Clermont or Franks casket. The top and three of the sides are now in the British Museum,
the fourth side is in the Museo Nazionale at Florence. The casket is made of whalebone, and the
scenes carved on it represent an episode from the Welandsaga, the adoration of the Magi, Romulus

Mono-Modal Image Registration
Image registration is a method of capturing images of varying modalities and (or) images obtained at
separate time periods and aligning them with one another [11]. Image registration is necessary as the
transformation of these varying images into the same coordinate system allows critical information,
such as structural components, to be observed and studied by medical professionals. This will provide
the medical professionals with improved insight into making important decisions regarding diagnosis
and treatment [11]. There are four steps involved in image registration. There four steps are as follows:
Feature detection which is detecting a feature of interest on a reference image and a sensed image
Feature matching which is ensuring ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2.4 Methods of image registration Various methods of image registration exist. However, this paper

useful method to track the progression of a disease or to observe the response to treatment. Mono
modal registration primarily uses temporal images. The images are intrasubject images [14] [15]. An
example of mono modal image registration is fMRI which is discussed in detail above. 2.4.2 Multi

observing varying degrees of information. This proves useful is diagnosis as well as in surgery that

Essay On Drug Addiction
When a person has a drug addiction, they have a disease that has the ability to affect and hurt the
entire family. Everyone in the addict s immediate family is affected in one way or another. Addiction
impacts a family s finances, physical health as well as psychological wellbeing. It can also cause
tension, miscommunication, and more frequent arguments within a household which in turn creates an
unhealthy environment for everyone involved. The addict can be very unpredictable which can cause
anxiety, emotional pain, stress, and a loss of trust because that person cannot be counted on to follow
through with what they say. Frequently, the people who are addicted don t even realize or believe they
are causing these problems within their families. And unfortunately, they don t view themselves as
sick or suffering from a problem, so they don t reach out for help. When the person finally realizes
they may have a problem, they believe the solution is to escape and run away from their addiction.
In Sonny s Blues, Sonny tells his brother I couldn t tell you when Mama died but the reason I wanted

behind to run away from his addiction. But it also shows how misguided he was, or rather all drug
addicts, to think he could just run away from the drugs. Because in the end, he ends

The Journey of Romulus and Remus Many centuries ago,in the kingdom of Latium there lived a king

Amulius hoped that Princess Silvia wouldn t give birth to any child/ren who could reclaim the
kingdom/throne.However his plan failed as she married Mars(god of war) and gave birth to twins
Romulus and Remus (1717BC). When the evil king Amulius found out he sent his slave to kill the
twins by throwing them into the sea in a cradle at night time while everyone was asleep.
It was dawn, the babies were still afloat. They had already reached the other side of the kingdom where
a female wolf saw them crying. Even though the wolf generally harm humans, her motherly instance

Zen Meditation Techniques
Meditation Techniques Simple Zen Meditation
Using a simple Zen meditation, you will learn the art of stillness. Zen is all about stillness. Zen monks
have been known to simply sit still and let the knowledge come through.
Preparing For The Simple
Usually sitting is done in the full lotus position, however this posture is quite difficult to learn unless
you have practice for quite a while.
So if you are not comfortable using the lotus position, you can also use the chair position as the
posture mentioned in the zen meditation with the back straight and the body slightly brought forward.
First make sure that you are sitting comfortable yet errect on the chair (or in the lotus or semi lotus
position). Next, make sure that your mouth is closed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Keep doing this simple zen meditation every day for 20 minutes by simply sitting in your comfortable
position, looking at one of your hands, starting to feel that side of your body from the feet upwards
and then starting to count.
Each alternate day start with the other side of your body. If today you have started with the left,
tomorrow start the meditation while focusing on the right hand and feeling your right side.
After one or two weeks, when you feel that you are counting automatically, without having to focus on
counting at all, stop counting. Now simply focus on your breathing in and out without counting.
Once you get used to this new technique as well, stop focusing on your breathing altogether. Simply
breath in and out, just the way you do it naturally, by your birthright. All you will do now is sit still in

Wage Gap Among Immigrants
The pooled OLS regression estimates by six different specifications are reported in Table 2. Under the
unconditional immigrant wage differential (only immigrant dummy variable is included), immigrants
earn 10 percent less than the Canadian natives. After adding the characteristics about gender,
immigration years, work experience, education, language skill, family factors, industry, occupation
and provinces in column (2), I find that the wage differential widens to 50.8 percent lead to an
increase of 40.8 percent when controlling other characteristics. These considerable changes arise
mainly from the inclusion of variables that affect the wage gap between immigrants and natives. For
example, immigrants accumulating more years since migration and more work experience, the wage
gap will decrease ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These effects are not considered in the unconditional wage regression model (the first column) so a
lower wage gap is observed. Thus, if theses variables are controlled, the wage differential will widen
significantly. I find one additional immigration year will increase the weekly immigrant wage by 2.7
log percentage points at the beginning. Moreover, in the higher immigration years, wage starts to
increase at a decreasing rate due to the factor that immigrant workers are too old to work less
efficiently than before. The similar situation can also be found in the work experience variable. All
positive coefficients of provinces imply that workers who reside in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Quebec,
Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia have wage advantages than workers residing in Atlantic
provinces. Compared with that of the Atlantic provinces, the provincial wage difference is largest in
Alberta at 24.67%, followed by Ontario at 21.95%, and British Columbia at 15.02%. This
phenomenon reflects that people in large immigrant provinces have significant wage advantages
relative to people in other

Moreover, smoking particularly adversely affects women s reproductive health, and smoke exposure

Alabama required documentation on birth certificates of tobacco use of mothers (Woolbright, 1994).

Minnesota, Florida and Texas and agreed to pay thirty six billion dollars within a twenty five year

percent of a person s personal medical care costs is used to treat illnesses, diseases and deadly
conditions attributed to smoking, mainly lung cancer, COPD, and heart disease. These numbers,
however, do not reflect the costs of other less severe ailments that result from exposing to smoking

Sigmund Freud s Representation of Three Tall Women Essay
A Deeper Understanding of Three Tall Women
According to Sigmund Freud, psychoanalysis is a procedure for the investigation of mental processes
which are almost inaccessible in any other way (Fodor and Gaynor 147). It becomes a deeper contrast
of a person s mentality to consider the design of interplay within the urging and checking forces of the
conscious and unconscious (Fodor and Gaynor 147). Freud s representation of Three Tall Women,
relate the characters by the neuroses that sometimes result from the suppression of memories and
desires too painful to deal with (Freud, The Dependent Relationship of the Ego). While not completely

The play expresses the idea of virtue and C s hope of avoiding the fate of A, which in turn shows that
there exists a strong desire to maintain a life that consists in pleasing an authoritative figure or higher
power (such as God). It may be discovered, with the help of the analytical mind of Carl Jung, that the
study of religious experience [can] be regarded...as the study of the fundamental, natural and
therapeutic psychic process, in which the individual seeks self knowledge, self regulation, and self
fulfillment (Palmer 109). Freud teaches us his idea of the ego, superego, and the id. The ego consists
of the conscious thought, which is understood as the cartoon character [that] has a devil on one
shoulder and an angel on the other (Freud, The Dependent Relationship of the Ego). Literally
speaking, character A was faced with the battle between devil and angel, good and evil, and it is the
branches of herself in B and C that such a contrast is shown.
Character C is the object of the angel and represented by innocence, the character traits of a child,
because she is the little one, the character with the least amount of experience in the world (Albee 39).
While Freud may claim that this character represents the id in that she takes the majority of her
influence from the unconscious part of her mind that says what she wants, Jung looks at the character
with the idea of an archetypal self. Based on Jung s study, archetypes

Minimum Legal Drinking Age
Young adults drinking under the age of 21 only has negative impacts on today s society and will only
get worse by lowering the minimum legal drinking age. Currently, the legal drinking age in the United
States is 21 years old and it should stay that way. Reason being, that only positive results have come
from making the minimum legal drinking age 21. These positive results include lower costs, less
alcohol related car crashes, and avoiding other dangers like unwanted pregnancy and young adults
being unable to defend themselves while under the influence of dangerous characters. At the age of

Underage drinking actually costs the United States a lot of money. In 2007, underage drinking cost the
U.S. $68 billion or $1 for every single drink consumed (Haynes, Melodee). You may ask, how can this
be? Well to get to our total of $68 billion, first, there are the medical bills from accidents related to the
consuming of alcohol underage which totaled to about $7.4 billion. Also, $14.9 billion from income
loss and $45.7 billion from pain and suffering which totals to $68 billion, the total amount of money
spent towards this issue (Haynes, Melodee). Since lowering the drinking age will increase car crashes,
insurance rates will rise because of higher premiums from traffic accidents or convictions for driving
under the influence. Other things that may cost you money are the unwanted pregnancies from teens
being drunk and having unprotected sex. This will either lead to an abortion, which costs money, or
you will need to take care of the baby, which can cause an endless amount of money. Also, the child
could be born with fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS) which would add even more expenses for treatment.

Camila Essay
The 1984 Argentine melodrama film, Camila, directed and co written by María Luisa Bemberg is
based on the true story of Camila O Gorman. The film is centred on the life of its main protagonist,
Camila, who is from a wealthy and well respected family which supports the dictatorship of Juan
Manuel de Rosas. In particular, the film captures Camila s affair with Father Ladislao Gutiérrez and
what is distinctively interesting is that regardless of his oath to the cloth, Father Ladislao is unable to
resist Camila s advances. As such, both are forced to elope and live under false pretences. Yet, this
sacrilegious union is not without consequences as both Camila and Ladislao are sentenced, imprisoned
and executed on Rosas order. In this regard, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Interestingly, Bemberg juxtaposes entrapment with resistance to patriarchy. Therefore, we can posit
that Camila s choice to pursue Ladislao goes against the patriarchal system in more ways than one. On
one hand, she disobeys and refuses the choice her paternal father has made for her, that is Ignacio, as
her mate and on the other hand, Camila s choice of mate depicts the failure of Rosas dictatorship as he
is unable to truly propagate and enforce his ideologies but more importantly it underlines an insolence
to the patriarchal values on which the government and all other social institutions including the family
and church are built. The physical entrapment of Camila and La Perichona in the film highlights the
function of the patriarchal system that has suppressed females expression of love in Argentina during
the reign of Rosas. However, the issue of female entrapment leads to resistance. Camila s entrapment
with her passion has led her to act against values of the patriarchal system so as to satisfy her desires,
whereas the physical entrapment is an indication that she has rebelled against the system, as such her
privileges has been restricted. Thus, in the event that Camila had not challenged the patriarchal system
then she would not have faced imprisonment and her life would have been

Causes Of The Weimar Republic
1918 was a particularly tumultuous year for Germany, and ultimately served as a catalyst in the
creation of the Weimar Republic, which spanned from 1919 to 1933. For starters, in 1918 Kaiser
Wilhelm II abdicated after a mutiny formed regarding the German decision to launch a suicidal assault
against the British navy in an attempt to salvage some honor following World War I . To avoid future
chaos, a new constitution was created in the spring of 1919. The result was a compromise, intended to
appease both sides of the German political spectrum. Specifically, the basic format of the government
was based around a president, a chancellor, and a parliament or Reichstag . Furthermore, the president
was an elected official, which indicated that the Germans were moving away from a monarchy
towards a democracy ( The Weimar Republic ). Although the creation of this constitution suggested
political progression, conflict continued. One of most infamous example of the Weimar Republic s
failure to maintain order occurred in 1920, when right wing paramilitaries seized power , known as the
Kapp Putsch. Then three years later, mayhem nearly reigned again with Hitler s attempted coup .
However, Hitler s, the Beer Hall Putsch, was stopped as the result of military intervention ( The
Weimar Republic ). Socially, the Weimar Republic was a time when Jews still served in high office,
held important places in the civil service and the judiciary, and studied and taught in Germany s great

Accounting Standards Boards
The field of accounting is constantly evolving. This is true not only for the theory of accounting itself
but also the entities that govern its theory and practice. Presently, the Financial Accounting Standards
Board (FASB) and the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) are faced with some of the
biggest challenges to date. To understand the significance of these two boards, it is necessary to
understand their histories, relations between the boards, and the standards that they set. Also how the
knowledge of these boards and the field they lead, gained through the masters of science in

The works of the APB were known as APB Opinions. The APB was criticized as well, so the AICPA
appointed two committees, from whose recommendations the FASB was founded in 1973 (Schroeder,
Clark, Cathey, 2011, p. 5 9).
International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) As stated earlier, the IASB arose from specific
needs of the accounting industry and the public. As international trade has increased, the need for
transnational accounting information has increased as well. This sparked the demand for development
of international accounting standards to make financial data between countries more comparable. In
1973, the International Accounting Standards Committee (IASC) was formed to develop these
international standards. The standards issued by the IASC, prior to 2001, were called International
Accounting Standards (IASs). In 2001, the IASC made the International Accounting Standards Board
(IASB) the official international standard setting body. The standards issued by the IASB are called
International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs) (Schroeder, Clark, Cathey, 2011, p. 82 87).
FASB and IASB Convergence The purpose of convergence by the two boards is to create a common
set of standards for use by both domestic and foreign entities to create internationally comparable
statements. The boards initially met in 2002 for a meeting known as the Norwalk

Lifestyle Theory By Glenn Walters
Lifestyle Theory
Lifestyle Theory is a theory in Criminology created by Glenn Walters in 1990. Unsurprisingly this
theory is just as the name would suggest, a lifestyle choice to be a criminal. This theory focuses
heavily on the biological factors that influence a person s ability to commit crime. Walters wrote three
concepts to his theory: conditions, choice, and cognition. To start, I will address conditions. In Walters
s theory, he discusses the environmental and biological conditions that are involved in entering the
criminal lifestyle. The environmental condition is based around your environment like the name
suggests. What that means is that the decision to commit crime is due in part by your living situations
and needs. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As one last final crime they plan on robbing a bank but end up calling off the heist after another
couple tries to rob the bank before them. While this movie is a comedy, the conditions that force Dick
and Jane to a life of crime are quite serious and go a long way to supporting this theory. While the
conditions of bankruptcy and potential foreclosure forced the hand of Jim Carrey s character to
commit crime in order to support his family he also made the choice to pursue crime. Choice is the
second concept of Lifestyle Theory and addresses the offender s choice to commit a crime. The
choices criminals make can be directly affected by the third concept, Cognition. Cognition is the
offender s mental state and things that can potentially lead them to be convinced to commit crimes.
For example, someone may exploit the low IQ of a non offender by convincing them to commit
crimes to avoid getting in trouble themselves. Another factor is the offender s compulsiveness, this is
when the offender acts without thinking and is purely in the heat of the moment. Compulsiveness is
both cognition and choice; it is cognition because the potential offender is not giving themselves time
to think and rationalize their actions. It is also choice because they are choosing to commit a crime,
even if certain conditions, either biological or environmental, are influencing their acts.

cognitive or developmental symptoms that may not be noticeable at birth or in the early stages of life.
Cognitive or developmental symptoms can cause problems as the child grows older and they begin to
integrate into their community and start school. A more serious outcome of prenatal alcohol exposure
is miscarriage, stillbirth, or a baby born prematurely. Premature babies lungs are not yet fully
developed by the time they need to start using them so they may not be able to breathe on their own
yet. They also may not have enough fat on them yet to regulate their body temperature or have heart
defects like ventricular septal defect or atrial septal

The Five Forms Of Ancient Greece
With one cursory overview of Ancient Greece and its diverse topography, it only stands to reason that
ruling the related multitude of distinct poleis scattered throughout its territories, might require
different forms of governments, as well. In fact, befitting of such a landscape, Greece employed a
variety of unique ruling structures within its collective borders. The principal five forms, to be further
examined here within, were monarchy, aristocracy, oligarchy, tyranny, and democracy. (Brand, n.d.)
When early settlers first started forming their polis, the inhabitants would select one of their group as
its leader. For the successful survival of the group, this person was often the strongest, most powerful
member. With time, this position ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eventually this led to two different political responses from the aristocrats. Some tried weak attempts
to spread the power of influence beyond the richest, such as Solon and his reforms for Athens. (Brand,
n.d.) Others saw this as a sign of weakness and redoubled their efforts to maintain the real authority
among the strongest, wealthiest and most influential. This latter method gave rise to the third regime
structure, called oligarchy, from the Greek, oligarkhia, meaning, government of the few. (oligarchy,

The Chief s Daughters And The Girl Who Was Not Satisfied...
It is human nature for people to always want more, but sometimes things are not as they appear. Two
Native American tales, The Chief s Daughters and The Girl Who Was Not Satisfied with Simple
Things, testify that just because it appears to be the best, does not mean it is as it appears. Despite the
fact the characters in The Chief s Daughters and The Girl Who Was Not Satisfied with Simple Things
are similar in their desires to have the best but get the opposite in reality, they both receive help from
old men, and both eventually end up back at home; the characters differ because one character
intentionally leaves her home whereas one does not, and one listens to the old man and one does not.

A very attractive stranger came about to take the girls hand and she accepted. He took her to his home
and asked her to put on a dress made of the same material of his clothes or she could not meet his
people, but she refused because everything smelled like fish. He left her for a while and told her not to
leave or be afraid of the things she might see. A horned black and yellow serpent came in and stared at
her, and when it left she looked outside to find the house surrounded by serpents who she realized
were her new husbands people and they could disguise themselves as humans. Her grandpa came to
her in a dream and told her to run and climb the tall steep cliff at the edge of the village to escape and
he would help her if she did not turn back. When she awoke she did as he said, and when she reached
the top of the steep cliff her grandpa struck the serpents with lightning bolts. He told her she was
brave, and that in the future he may need her help again. After returning to her village she married a
good man and had children and always told them Be satisfied with simple

Relationship Between Science And Science
Policymakers use science daily to inform decisions that affect our health and safety. Scientists are
confronted with greater demands for productivity and effectiveness from industrialists, social actors,
and policymakers, who are expecting answers to diverse issues afflicting present day lives: from
human diseases to environmental perils, technological needs, or public controversies. At the same
time, there are growing fears from the public vis à vis the side effects of modern scientific and
technological innovations. These concerns are not incompatible but provide the basis for recognizing
the role of science in democratic societies (Pereira, 2004).
The relationship between science and democracy is an age old conundrum with continuing public
controversy and a fruitful but difficult co existence (MacLeod, 1997). As Fischer explains, democracy
and science are both characteristics of the Western society and the tension between them is a long
standing critical theme in contemporary politics (Fischer, 2003). While democracy represents open
discussion on the part of all citizens, science has always represented the sphere of the knowledge
society. While democracy strives to promote a broad array of viewpoints and perspectives, science for
its part, attempts to restrict the number of participants seeking the right answer or assessment (ibid,
2003).
As more countries attempt to run their governments on democratic principles with their performance
failing to meet the growing

Lieutenant Cross Chapter Summary
Even though the entire chapter is written in third person omniscient, the author characterized
Lieutenant Cross the most out of all the soldiers introduced, revealing his sentimental nature,
unrequited love for Martha, and later on, guilt for Lavender s death because of his fantasies. Unlike
other soldiers who packed their personal belongings with snacks, entertainment, or extra weapons
suitable for their occupations, Cross kept small remembrances of Martha, including her letter, photo,
and as given in this passage, a small pebble. The author used extensive detail as well as a smile to
signify the importance of this small item. For Cross, it symbolized the message: separate but together.

Stereotypes In The Keepers
The Keepers is a docu series that follows the journey of Abbie Shaub and Gemma Hoskins as they dig
into the murder of their former teacher from Archbishop Keough High School in Baltimore, MD. The
murder of their teacher, Nun Cathy Cesnik, occurred in 1969. Cesnik s murder is still unsolved to this
day. This could be in part because there was so much more to the murder than who killed Cesnik. As
Abbie and Gemma began digging into what they thought was only a murder, they found that their
main suspect, Joseph Maskell, who was a chaplain at Keough, had sexual allegations against him.
While the show is about finding the killer of Nun Cathy Cesnik, the sexual abuse allegations basically
took over the entire series. Abbie and Gemma found that their ... Show more content on

Franz says his mother was a very protective mother to her kids. Shortly after she had made aware of
the abuse to the Archbishop, Franz received a call from the pastor of St. Clement s. He told Franz that
Maskell was removed from his school and that he would be back on the basketball and baseball teams.
This is when Maskell came to Keough, where he abused dozens of girls there. Moving Maskell to a
different school may have given him a fresh start, free from his past abuse victim, but it didn t stop
him from abusing children from the next school. The Catholic church shouldn t have let it slide under
the rug and move him to a different school, avoiding any controversy that may have come up. Shifting
forward to Keough, Franz is positive that the Catholic church knew about his abuse from Maskell
prior to 1992 when Jane Doe came forward. While the Archbishop denied this, they also said that the
initial allegation could not be corroborated and Father Maskell returned to active ministry in 1993 to
1994 (The Conclusion). With Franz s account of what happened with Maskell prior to Keough, Jane
Doe would have had the corroboration she needed to make the case against Maskell. Jane Doe, of
course, had no idea about Franz, until The Keepers was

This will make the donation process easy. The next step is identifying the charity to donate the hair.
This information can be obtained by contacting the nearby charity organizations and enquiring about
their current requirements. There are also online fundraiser organizations that request the donors to
mail the hair. In that case, the guidelines given by them should be followed for carrying out the

The Gangster Genre of Films Essays
The Godfather is the most revolutionary gangster film of all time, it rewrote the gangster genre in such
a stylized way that all latter gangster films have conformed to this genre but also evolved it as films
have progressed.
Directed by Francis Ford Coppola The Godfather re invented the gangster genre elevating it to a
Hollywood status and making it commercially profitable. It looks into the life of the Corleone family
and represents America at that point in time. It portrays the violence and power, corruption and justice,
honour and obligation apparent at that time.
Previous to The Godfather s release the American Dream was born, to idealists America was the

All gangster movies have been judged by the standards of this one, it has a very strong script that is
well plotted, although at times difficult to understand.
Two other gangster directors are Quentin Tarantino, famous for many films but Pulp Fiction stands
out, and Guy Ritchie, the writer of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels . and Snatch . Both of these
writers have been influenced by The Godfather , its stereotypes, plots and gangster families, and
although both writers have both influenced the genre in their separate ways, neither of them have
made quite the impact that The Godfather did. However, Pulp Fiction adopted a large cult status, it
became increasingly popular and became a Hollywood blockbuster, it did in its own re invent the
gangster genre regarding the association of humour and the subversion of the original Godfather
genre.
Tarantino made Pulp Fiction in 1994 and it was regarded as innovative and different, he plays around
with the timeline of the three inter connecting storylines that leaves you dazed and confused, but
strangely satisfied. Tarantino manages this by introducing the protagonist of each story in the previous
story, either as a minor character or a stock character.
This gives you the impression that you have

Fuel Your Muscles Essay
Fuel Your Muscles with Amino Acids
If you are trying to build up your body and help boost your athletic performance, you need more than
just time in the gym. Amino acids should be added to any serious athlete s routine if you want to
provide your body with what it needs in order to build stronger, more powerful muscles. Your muscles
store fatty acids, glucose, as well as amino acids from protein and all three are used as energy and fuel
during exercise. However, in order to help preserve muscle mass, your muscles will burn off fatty
acids and glucose first before it uses amino acids as fuel. Used as your last line of defense, amino
acids are used as a building block for new muscle. When your muscles are consistently contracting it
results in micro trauma, which are microscopic tears in the muscle. These tears require repair ... Show

the muscles, which can help prevent muscle damage, muscle soreness, and fatigue. This will also help
increase your endurance and increase your recovery time. You can find carnitine in two different

The Automotive Industy s Use of Structural Composite...
The automotive industry s use of structural composite materials began in the 1950s. Since those early
days, it has been demonstrated that composites are lightweight, fatigue resistant and easily molded to
shape. In other words, composite structures are seemingly attractive alternative to metals. Not only are
composites used in the field of automotive but in all other fields such as aerospace, construction
industry, and the entertainment industry.
Composite materials have numerous features that led the automotive industry in using it in automobile
designs. Its many key benefits include being lightweight, has high strength, corrosion resistant,
chemical resistant, elastic, and non conductive. Composite materials are extremely strong and are
highly resistant to chemical, never having to rust or corrode. Fiber reinforced composites have
excellent elastic properties. When composites are bent, they snap back into place. Fiberglass based
composites are non conductive.
With all these benefits and features, what exactly are composites? Composite materials are developed
by the combination of two or more materials, with quite different properties. When composite
materials are made, one material is called the matrix or binder, which surrounds and holds a cluster of
pieces of a much stronger reinforcement material called fiber, which is the second material.
So why does the automotive industry use composites in automobile designs? What are its specific
benefits? The use of

Use Of Social Media Platforms On Consumer Behavior
Looking for information is a highly important driver for a consumer to use social media platforms.
Information quality refers to a consumer s assessment of the information presented on a website based
on accuracy, relevance, helpfulness, currency (being up to date), and unbiasness (Cao et al., 2005; Ou
Sia, 2010; Zhang von Dran, 2000). Information is considered to be a key website feature that
influences consumer behavior. Past research (Cao et al.; Day, 1997; Huizingh, 2000; Iyer, 2001;
Katerattanakul Siau, 1999; Ou Sia; Zhang von Dran) has found that information is highly important to
the development of a company s website to draw in and continue to attract online customers.
Interacting with information is described as the process people use in interacting with content (Toms,
2002). If a brand post contains information about the brand or product, then the brand fans
motivations to participate or consume the content of the brand post are realized.
Information content is considered to influence the cognitive (seeking, attending, interpreting, and
critiquing information), affective (excitement toward the information and ultimately the brand and
satisfaction), and behavioral (interacting with the information) components of online brand
engagement. Based on these, the following hypotheses are derived:
H1A: Perceived information quality on a Twitter brand s account that a consumer has followed
positively predicts cognitive online brand engagement.
H1B: Perceived

  • 5. Citizen Kane Argumentative Essay Penelope Huston, a film critic said, On seeing the first time, one got the feeling that if the cinema could do that, it could do anything. Yes! He is talking about Citizen Kane (1941), a film directed by Orson Welles, which undoubtedly made cinematic advances on many fronts. In this argumentative piece of writing I will be identifying significant characteristic of narrative form shared by two films: Citizen Kane and on the other hand, A Tale of Two Sisters. Strictly focusing on the manipulation of story time by the plot. Citizen Kane regarded as a classical film, which employs creative storytelling techniques. Acting almost as a biographical film, Citizen Kane portrays a long period of time realistically, allowing the characters to age as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the first flashback, Thatcher s diary tells of a scene in which Kane loses control of his newspapers during the Depression. By this time Kane is a middle aged man. Yet in the second flashback, Bernstein describes young Kane s arrival at the inquirer office and his engagement to Emily. The plot demands that we sort these events into chronological story order. How can we forget Rosebud ? Citizen Kane doesn t reveal that much of the story action about Rosebud, thus restricting the narration until the final part of the film. There is definitely uncertainty about Rosebud throughout the story. Citizen Kane uses different narrators to transmit story information fulfills several functions. It offers a plausible depiction of the process of investigation, since we expect any reporter to hunt down information through interviews. More deeply, the plot s portrayal of Kane himself become more complex by showing somewhat different sides of him, depending on who s talking about him. Moreover, the multiple narrators make the film resemble one of Susan s jigsaw puzzles. We must put things together piece by piece. The pattern of gradual revelation enhances curiosity what is it in Kane s past that he associates with Rosebud? And suspense and also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. John Robby Personality High school is its own society. There is a social standard that everyone must follow. It is not like when people are children. When someone is a child, they are friends with everyone. The moment that they walk up to someone they are instant friends. They could talk for hours, and just start playing games with each other. High school is not like that. Everyone is in groups, and what group a student is in will influence their personality. Once someone is in a group, it is almost impossible to change. In Our Time , John Wideman shows how many things influence Robby s personality, which in the end, caused him to commit crimes. Society and his friend group are just two of those things. Robby s life may have turned out much differently if he would have grown up in a different neighborhood that had more people of the same race as himself. His life would ve also been very different if he started hanging around a different type of people. You know, partying and stuff in Garfield because that s where the niggers were (Wideman 643). Robby hung out with people who liked to party, which caused him to do the same.Robby s life was influenced by his surroundings, and so did mine when I first entered high school. High school also causes people to grow up faster. There is a mountain of responsibility that affects people s lives . In Our Secret , Susan Griffin tells the reader about the pressure that Heinrich Himmler s father put on Heinrich. The weight of that hand could not be comforting. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Persuasive Essay On Service Dogs If the fake service dog scam continues to escalate, real service dogs, and the privileges and respect they are entitled to, will be in jeopardy. (Lichtenberg). Service dogs are needed for people with PTSD, Disabilities, Clinical Depression and GAD. A lot of people rely on these wonderful animals to help them get through the day. For example, people who use dogs to help with depression ,what if they get into a bad mood and attempt suicide, the dog will get someone s attention or can even call 911. Soldiers with PTSD suffer from flashbacks and the dog can calm soldiers down and help them know what is real and not. They are not meant to help people who just want to take their dog into the store or have stressful or bad days. We all get those. Service dogs are beneficial to the world and save lives, you should not be able to just order a kit off the Internet to license your dog to be a service dog. Lives are at risk and its wrong to mock the need of a service dog. The beginnings of therapy dog programs started in World War II with a yorkshire named Smoky. The first systematic use of therapy dogs is attributed to Elaine Smith. Smith noticed how well people responded to their dog and that a trained dog could help people with medical needs. By the time 1976 came around, Smith opened a program for training dogs to visit institutions and these programs started to grow. There are 3 different types of service dogs people can have: Emotional Support Animals, Therapy Animals, and Service Animals. Emotional Support Animals have one task and that is to provide comfort and support, emotionally, to someone who needs it and has a documented health condition. Therapy Animals are registered through an agency and their purpose is to provide therapeutic value to those who need it. Service animals are trained to perform tasks the owner simply cannot do on their own, guiding blind people, detecting seizures, helping people who have lost legs or arms. Not any dog can just be a service dog. The dogs take almost up to a year to train! A service dog has to learn behaviors to help whoever the dog is supposed to help. Some examples of what they need to do is call 911, answer a doorbell, bring water for medications or provide a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How do we prove this, but also CAN we ever prove it. Third problem became the great mathematical challenge of the age. Turing solved it, but in the process established a system that is still useable today. Am indebted to Oxford university course on computing for the following, which I reproduce without a full understanding. Turing s (successful) approach to the decidability problem involved the design and use of an imaginary machine. This is the same technique...gedanken...that was used by Albert Einstein, in relation to relativity and in Schrodinger s Cat reference quantum mechanics. Turing s machine used a continuous tape, which can be as long as required, which carries a series of cells. This passes under a read/write head that can read and if required change the symbol under it. The head views one symbol at a time and, can: move, or not move, the tape one cell in either direction; read and /or change the symbol written on that cell; or change states. The states are a finite number of conditions, e.g. start, add, carry, return and stop. Different sets of states will be needed for different problems. Turing was able to show that if we first assume a solution does exist then we can show that this would lead to a completely impossible situation. Hence a solution does not exist (proof by contradiction, a standard method in mathematics.). When Turing went to show his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Decision making is the most important aspect of any matter... Decision making is the most important aspect of any matter one confronts in the physical world. The success or failure of a project, business, operation, company etc. is directly proportional to the logical reasoning carried out to reach a decision. Bad/ suboptimal decisions can ruin/damage business, project, reputation and careers. Past few decades of research into the decision making paradigm has highlighted that bad decisions are a byproduct of distortions and biases that incapacitate our reasoning. Most of our decision making is heuristic in nature that serves perfectly well in most of the situations. The problem of finding an optimal solution under given constraints belongs to the discipline of mathematical optimization that includes methods like linear programming, dynamic programming, integer programming, Pontryagin s maximum principle and nonlinear programming. Linear programming has been popular since its introduction and has helped solve many real world problems yet it suffers from a grave limitation i.e. the real world is not linear which restricts its use to linear optimization problems or to the ones that can be approximated as linear models. Problems with strong nonlinearities will not give a feasible solution if approximated via linear models. Nonlinear programming addresses these limitations but is far more difficult to implement and needs more computational power to solve problems. In this paper we review the nonlinear programming technique and the way it can help solve a complex optimization problem. The paper is organized as follows. In section 2 we define the optimization problem and its mathematics. In section 3 we discuss the nonlinear programming, its origin, uses and the software programs that can be used to aid problem solving. Section 4 is an example of optimization problem and its solution via nonlinear programming. In section 5, we give the conclusion. 2. Optimization Problem Mathematically an optimization problem is defined as follows: where is called the objective or cost function to be optimized subject to m inequality constraints ... Active Listening Can Be Described In Brief As Listening Active listening can be described in brief as listening to a person carefully and with an open mind, which endeavors to fetch a grasp of the other on a greatly profound level. Guidelines for active listening is to give people your attention, be ready to paraphrase, use questions if you don t understand, acknowledge the others person feelings, encourage if the other person appears uncertain, do not react or respond in other ways until it is clear that the other person has finished. Clarification includes questions that seek to clear uncertainties and fetch more understanding of the other person s intentions and fears. Misunderstood or inadequate information is the main barrier to understanding; that s why clarification is important. After that, you should recognize the other person s feelings. This is called digging. It concentrates on the feelings of a person without making them the clear focus of the argument. Observing emotional reactions adds a further aspect to the understanding of a person s situation. It is mainly helpful when there seems to be an inconsistency between the content of a message and the person s feelings as it permits us to discover the speaker s actual approach toward a subject. Subsequently, you should see if the other person seems to be doubtful or uncertain. You should acknowledge the feelings that a person is experiencing as it is an influential evidence of our awareness and serious attempt to understand his situation. (The role of Active listening in conflict resolution, 2012). • 13. Massachusetts Bay Colonies Dbq In the spring of 1630, John Winthrop and his group of Puritan immigrants arrived on the shores of the Massachusetts Bay. There they founded the Massachusetts Bay Colony, an exclusively Puritan settlement based on the strict religious ideas of the colonists. As the colony expanded from the 1630s to the 1660s, these strict Puritan ideas and values influenced its economic development by putting the focus of the colony on the religion instead of on the creation of a settlement for monetary or expansive profit, its political development, by and its social development, by regulating the way other religions, women, and education were treated. When Roger Williams, a prominent Puritan preacher spoke out about religious freedom, he was exiled from the colony. Anne Hutchinson, whose strong religious convictions were also at odds with Puritan theology, was banished from the colony, along with her family and group of followers, and excommunicated from the church. Hutchinson s treatment was even harsher than Williams s, however, because she was a woman, and the Puritan s religious beliefs also governed the treatment of women in the colony. Should colleges be teaching students liberal arts or should they just let liberal arts classes slip away? This a controversy between students on every college campus. It is important to the students, because they want what is best for themselves during college. I believe that students need to be taught liberal arts to help better their learning abilities. In my own experience, I have learned that liberal arts classes may be frustrating, but in the long run they have really helped to develop a better grasp on general education. Socialism is the general term for the political and economic theory that advocates a system of collective or government ownership and management of the means of production and distribution of goods. In Russia socialism was creating many problems such as bad harvests, industrial strikes and the war with Japan in 1904, leading to economic difficulties and confidence in the Tsar faltering. In 1905 Father Gapon led a peaceful demonstration to see the Tsar hoping to alleviate the pressures on the working class. However, troops opened fire on the group and many were killed or wounded. This sparked off a revolution so the government made concessions, the Tsar promised working hours to be reduced and a Duma was created to hear the working class grievances. Socialism threatened the balance of power as each country needs its people to believe in their leader, they also need the working class to be productive. Russia s working class lost faith in the Tsar after the Duma was dissolved and the promises made by the Tsar were broken.

There is a rich history on Vietnamese migration to Australia. Prior to 1975, the numbers of Vietnamese migrants to Australia and Victoria were low. These numbers were low but included many tertiary students, orphans from the Vietnam War that was on during that time, and wives of Australian servicemen. Today, 48 years after 1970, the Vietnamese people form the sixth largest migrant group in Australia. The majority of people with a Vietnamese heratige have settled in or around NSW or VIC. The physical entrapment of Camila and La Perichona in the film highlights the function of the patriarchal system that has suppressed females expression of love in Argentina during the reign of Rosas. However, the issue of female entrapment leads to resistance. Camila s entrapment with her passion has led her to act against values of the patriarchal system so as to satisfy her desires, whereas the physical entrapment is an indication that she has rebelled against the system, as such her privileges has been restricted. • 38. Causes Of The Weimar Republic 1918 was a particularly tumultuous year for Germany, and ultimately served as a catalyst in the creation of the Weimar Republic, which spanned from 1919 to 1933. For starters, in 1918 Kaiser Wilhelm II abdicated after a mutiny formed regarding the German decision to launch a suicidal assault against the British navy in an attempt to salvage some honor following World War I . To avoid future chaos, a new constitution was created in the spring of 1919. The result was a compromise, intended to appease both sides of the German political spectrum. Specifically, the basic format of the government was based around a president, a chancellor, and a parliament or Reichstag . Furthermore, the president was an elected official, which indicated that the Germans were moving away from a monarchy towards a democracy ( The Weimar Republic ). Although the creation of this constitution suggested political progression, conflict continued. One of most infamous example of the Weimar Republic s failure to maintain order occurred in 1920, when right wing paramilitaries seized power , known as the Kapp Putsch. Then three years later, mayhem nearly reigned again with Hitler s attempted coup . However, Hitler s, the Beer Hall Putsch, was stopped as the result of military intervention ( The Weimar Republic ). • 42. Lifestyle Theory By Glenn Walters Lifestyle Theory Lifestyle Theory is a theory in Criminology created by Glenn Walters in 1990. Unsurprisingly this theory is just as the name would suggest, a lifestyle choice to be a criminal. This theory focuses heavily on the biological factors that influence a person s ability to commit crime. Walters wrote three concepts to his theory: conditions, choice, and cognition. To start, I will address conditions. In Walters s theory, he discusses the environmental and biological conditions that are involved in entering the criminal lifestyle. The environmental condition is based around your environment like the name suggests. What that means is that the decision to commit crime is due in part by your living situations and needs. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As one last final crime they plan on robbing a bank but end up calling off the heist after another couple tries to rob the bank before them. While this movie is a comedy, the conditions that force Dick and Jane to a life of crime are quite serious and go a long way to supporting this theory. While the conditions of bankruptcy and potential foreclosure forced the hand of Jim Carrey s character to commit crime in order to support his family he also made the choice to pursue crime. Choice is the second concept of Lifestyle Theory and addresses the offender s choice to commit a crime. The choices criminals make can be directly affected by the third concept, Cognition. Cognition is the offender s mental state and things that can potentially lead them to be convinced to commit crimes. For example, someone may exploit the low IQ of a non offender by convincing them to commit crimes to avoid getting in trouble themselves. Another factor is the offender s compulsiveness, this is when the offender acts without thinking and is purely in the heat of the moment. Compulsiveness is both cognition and choice; it is cognition because the potential offender is not giving themselves time to think and rationalize their actions. It is also choice because they are choosing to commit a crime, even if certain conditions, either biological or environmental, are influencing their acts. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The most severe cases of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome are typically linked to alcohol consumption within the first trimester of pregnancy, more specifically the first few weeks after conception which can often be before the woman even knows she is pregnant. Physical deformities are the easiest to detect initially and are the first indication that a fetus may have Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. Abnormal facial features include small head, low nasal bridge, small eye openings, flat midface, epicanthal folds, thin upper lip, smooth philtrum, underdeveloped jaw, and short nose. • 44. The Five Forms Of Ancient Greece With one cursory overview of Ancient Greece and its diverse topography, it only stands to reason that ruling the related multitude of distinct poleis scattered throughout its territories, might require different forms of governments, as well. In fact, befitting of such a landscape, Greece employed a variety of unique ruling structures within its collective borders. The principal five forms, to be further examined here within, were monarchy, aristocracy, oligarchy, tyranny, and democracy. (Brand, n.d.) When early settlers first started forming their polis, the inhabitants would select one of their group as its leader. Eventually this led to two different political responses from the aristocrats. Some tried weak attempts to spread the power of influence beyond the richest, such as Solon and his reforms for Athens. This latter method gave rise to the third regime structure, called oligarchy, from the Greek, oligarkhia, meaning, government of the few. (oligarchy, 2018) Sparta was the most famous of Greek ... • 46. Relationship Between Science And Science Policymakers use science daily to inform decisions that affect our health and safety. Scientists are confronted with greater demands for productivity and effectiveness from industrialists, social actors, and policymakers, who are expecting answers to diverse issues afflicting present day lives: from human diseases to environmental perils, technological needs, or public controversies. At the same time, there are growing fears from the public vis à vis the side effects of modern scientific and technological innovations. These concerns are not incompatible but provide the basis for recognizing the role of science in democratic societies (Pereira, 2004). The relationship between science and democracy is an age old conundrum with continuing public controversy and a fruitful but difficult co existence (MacLeod, 1997). As Fischer explains, democracy and science are both characteristics of the Western society and the tension between them is a long standing critical theme in contemporary politics (Fischer, 2003). While democracy represents open discussion on the part of all citizens, science has always represented the sphere of the knowledge society. While democracy strives to promote a broad array of viewpoints and perspectives, science for its part, attempts to restrict the number of participants seeking the right answer or assessment (ibid, 2003). The murder of their teacher, Nun Cathy Cesnik, occurred in 1969. Cesnik s murder is still unsolved to this day. This could be in part because there was so much more to the murder than who killed Cesnik. As Abbie and Gemma began digging into what they thought was only a murder, they found that their main suspect, Joseph Maskell, who was a chaplain at Keough, had sexual allegations against him.
