Protein World Advertisement Analysis
Despite the great strides women s rights activists have made into accessing and challenging the
inequalities women have faced in recent years, there still remains a lingering tone of misogyny and
sexism within American popular culture. From television shows and magazines, to advertisements,
mass media frequently enforces negative stereotypes regarding body, race, and sex, with many of
these platforms wholeheartedly employing them in order to gain popularity through shock tactics. The
Protein World Weight Loss Collection advertisement is one such example of the negative ways in
which women are portrayed within the media, with women being objectified and portrayed as sex
objects in order to market not only their product, but the idea of beachbody readiness . It is through the
Protein World advertisement that viewers are given insight into how women of various body types are
marginalized within American society.
Before even analyzing the Protein World advertisement, which markets their weightloss collection,
viewers are immediately alerted by the jarringly bright yellow background the advertisement features.
Along with this, the advertisement depicts a thin, blonde haired woman wearing a bikini coupled with

The text or slogan written for the Protein World advertisement is especially significant as it conveys a
body shaming sentiment. The statement Are you beachbody ready? in accompaniment with a thin
woman conveys a sentiment that thin bodies are acceptable but also inversely, that any body that does
not fit the portrayed mold is unready. In doing so, the Protein World shames larger women and further
pushes the narrative of skinny bodies being desirable or a goal. It is important to note that skinny
figures are not the only healthy body type, and any advertisement that depicts them as goal, innately

Analyzing Coastal Management Strategies Essay
Analyzing Coastal Management Strategies Coastal Management strategies need to consider not only
physical processes but also factors associated with human geography. Analyse why this is the case.
Coastal management is a means of controlling development and change in the coastal zone and
undertaking work according to agreed principles and criteria. By taking into account physical and
human geography factors and people who come from the local areas views will help to ensure that
there is good coastal management strategy. There are usually three stages in a management strategy,

undertaking the project must look at possible solutions that would be best in relation to physical
factors the chosen scheme will be the best scheme to limit or stop the thing that is occurring. They are
likely to take into account the rock type in the area the height of land, shape of the land and the cause
of the problem. Possible and reasonable solutions would be put forward and the best solution in
relation to the physical geography is likely to be put in place. On top of the physical considerations

going to cause conflict between local people and the local government. Human Factors that effect
whether a coastal management scheme is put into place would be things such as, how many people

Technical Education Vs. Vocational Education
Technical education, also more commonly known as vocational education, has been around for a long
period of time, first starting to appear federally funded in high school classrooms in mid 1917. Picture
a high school student that is struggling in their classes and sees no other option but to drop out of
school and work at a fast food restaurant. Then they walk into their first day of Agriculture (A.G.)
where they will be learning about welding and the fine arts of fabrication. After the first couple days
of how to be safe in the shop, they discover that they really enjoy welding small structures, so they
decide to stay in school. Several years later they graduate, and instead of mainstreaming and going to
college, they are able to receive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Houle always had an attraction for teaching welding because he had a close relationship with his high
school welding teacher. However, in order for Houle to teach, he needed to receive his teaching
credentials, which in turn meant he would have to go to college. And when it came to academics,
Houle was far behind because the highest level of math he had taken was Algebra 1. The goal was to
get people to work (Houle) Vocational education was not intended to prepare students for college.
More than 117 years ago, an assortment of groups of people started advocating for the use of new
vocational education programs in schools. A majority of supporters for vocational education consisted
of businessmen and labor unions, who saw it as an answer to problems of skilled labor shortages and a
way to help heal unemployment in a swiftly industrializing society. There are also two sides to the
story. While employers were anticipating the weakening of labor unions, the workers saw it as
opportunity for not only individual advancement, but also a means of dignifying labor. Many people
regarded vocational training as an opportunity to teach and learn the value of work because they
believed the value was being washed out of modern society. Actually, educators and teachers were
excited about vocational education because they could practice new teaching methods that emphasized
children s interests

Why Is Athena Important In The Odyssey
The Weavyssy
This was her latest masterpiece of guile: she set up a great loom in the great halls and she began to
weave, and the weaving finespun, the yarns endless, and she would lead us on: Young men, my
suitors, now that King Odysseus is no more, go slowly, keen as you are to marry me, until I can finish
off this web...so my weaving won t all fray and come to nothing. This is a shroud for old lord Laertes,
for that day when the deadly fate that lays us out at last will take him down. I dread the shame my
countrywomen would heap upon me, yes, if a man of such wealth should lie in state without a shroud

She also uses weaving as a way to ignore the situation and become free in herself. She also is accused
later in the book by Odysseus as crafting a plan, since she wanted him to stay on the island, but then
suddenly wished him off, as per god s request. Calypso is weaving a plan to keep Odysseus on the
island, but another immortal, Hermes visited and commanded that Odysseus be sent away.
Besides the hearth she sits in the fire s glare, spinning yarn on a spindle, sea blue wool a stirring sight,

Arete, Nausicaa s mother, wife of King Alcinous, is shown spinning yarn. Spinning yarn identifies
Arete with Athena. Arete is considered wise because she is shown as spinning yarn. Women in her city
also have a skill in weaving. Further stating that the women in Phaeacia are wise women. The queen
also shows she is wise when she questions Odysseus later. Her interactions with Odysseus further
show that Athena is shown through her, Athena being skilled in human relations. The queen also

Relationship Between Vivian And Molly
In any genuine friendship there are the differences between the people that spark curiosity, yet, it is
similarities that draw two together to form a tight bond. This is evident in the friendship that starts
between Vivian and Molly. Vivian, from outward show, does not display the slightest similarity with
Molly. It is not until one examines the often tragic back stories of both that striking parallels begin to
be made clear. By the time all is uncovered, the likenesses shared between Vivian and Molly far
outweigh any disparities. In examining the relationship between Vivian and Molly, a perfect balance is
struck in Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline. In Orphan Train, Christina Baker Kline weaves a
strong friendship between two characters, Vivian and Molly, despite a lengthy list of differences. The
most blatant contrast, and the root cause of many other differences, is age and the separate eras both
Vivian and Molly grow up in. In the span of her life, Vivian Nielsen, a ninety one year old widow,
experiences the Great Depression, World War II, and a technology boom impossible to keep up with.
On the other hand, Molly Ayer is a sixteen year old tech savvy foster child who uses her Goth persona
like armor against an unsympathetic society (Kline 4). Another dissimilarity is ethnicity. Vivian is a
first generation Irish immigrant and in being a Penobscot Native American Indian, Molly is unable to
be more different than Vivian. While these differences seem apparent, the

Economic Overview In Auto Industry Essay
Economic Overview of the Automotive Industry
The automotive industry is without a doubt an industry that has massive implications relating to the
United States economy as well as affecting every American household. Shifts in the supply and
demand of automobiles influence the current and future household purchases. Households must
determine what amount of their hard earned income to allocate to certain necessities. Because most
households have a budget, the amount spent on transportation it limited. While most industries have
an effect on the economy, the automotive industry has far reaching implications for most Americans.
Not only are the workers affected but the many spin off jobs created as well as the consumers that

Few American households live without some form of transportation. The amount of money spent on
the transportation proves whether the automobile is a necessity or a luxury. Higher priced models sell
more when the economy is stronger. When the economy is slow lower cost cars are more popular.
Transportation as a whole is a necessity. The form of the transportation is what determines if it is a
luxury. (Collier, 1981) The fluctuations in the supply and demand of automobiles have an effect on
other industries. One such industry that is affected in a measurable way is the after market automobile
parts industry. When the demand for new automobiles is high the demand for after market parts is
lower. When the demand for new automobiles is low the demand for after market parts rises. The only
explanation is uncovered when looking at individual households. Individual households have a limited
amount of money to budget for transportation. If new cars are in high demand the income is higher for
individual households. If new cars are not in high demand individual households have less money to
budget for transportation. With less money to budget for transportation, individuals are more likely to
use after market parts to make repairs on their existing vehicle rather than purchase a new vehicle
when their current vehicle needs costly repairs. The cost to repair a vehicle is far less than the cost to
purchase a new vehicle. (Lamonica,

Art Criticism Of The Gold Lustreware Bowl By Galileo Chini
A Gold Lustreware Maiolica Bowl by Galileo Chini
(fig.1) Maiolica bowl polychrome gold, grey and bronze colour. Circa 1902 1904.Galileo Chini. L
Arte della Ceramica Fontebuoni, Florence. Museo Galileo Chini, Borgo San lorenzo.
The gold lustreware bowl by Galileo Chini is an object which could seem on first glance devoid of
special significance: just a beautiful decorative object enjoyed at face value. (Fig.1) But in the
seeming void I saw a repository of layered meanings which I attempted to interpret by examining the
artistic cross cultural influences in Florence in the late nineteenth century. And to address the question
of why the Mediaeval Hispano Moresque gold lustreware and the design motifs of the Gothic
Revivalist repertoires were found on this bowl. I examine why Chini became inspired to use these
designs and what they may have meant to him.
In this essay I will examine why there was a taste for lustreware in the Florentine workshops and how
their clients saw themselves reflected by these golden objects. ... Show more content on

The ceramics produced by Galileo Chini show a large repertoire of historical motifs and cross cultural
influences which blended to create a unique creation and distinctly Stile Liberty. From my own
observations of his artistic output I would suggest that Chini did not imitate Renaissance maiolica to
attract a certain erudite clientele, as in the case of the Cantagalli workshop, but developed his own
voice adapting design motifs from the past and projecting them into a new language which is
demonstrably modern

Valjean s Internal Conflict In Les Mise Segarables
Valjean s Internal Conflict
In Les Misérables a storyline of tragedy introduces a character named Valjean who has had a rough
life. From being into prison to living in the streets, he meets a bishop who changed his life. Valjean s
future seems to go smoothly until another character comes into play his parole officer Javert. Javert is
now put into a situation that could either ruin the good in him or the people around him. When
adapting a novel into other mediums, such as a movie or a musical, there are details about internal
conflict that are lost, and potentially added. This is the case when adapting Les Misérables by Victor
Hugo, the song Who Am I? from the musical, and the 1998 film adaptation.
In the novel of Les Misérables Valjean, internal conflict can be seen in a more descriptive form rather
than a visual form compared to the film. Valjean s internal conflict starts off when inspector Javert
brings Monsieur Madeleine who is Valjean news about that the convict Valjean who has been found
and will be put on trial and sent to prison. Valjean fights within himself trying to make the right
decision of either to speak up and take the blame for being the real Valjean or let this innocent man go
to prison for him and live his life with this burden. Valjean can be seen going back and forth in the
novel about if he should turn himself in or stay a free man. He gives reasons why he should not go and
speak up for the innocent man. One of those reasons being The

Psychoanalysis and Sigmund Freud
Psychoanalysis is one of the founding approaches to psychotherapy and this specific approach was
founder by Austrian born psychoanalyst, Sigmund Freud. This approach to psychotherapy has evolved
ever since the 1800s when it was first developed and this will be very clear in the following essay in
that different theories and components of the approach will be discussed and they will also be used to
analyse Wendy and come to decisions about how she is presenting in therapy based on these
components of psychoanalysis approach. Psychoanalysis as an approach founded by Freud focuses on
what is called the unconscious material and how this material affects the individual (Yakeley, 2014).
This essay will specifically look at Freud s drive theory and the Object Relations Theory as these are
the theories of the psychoanalytic approach that are best suited to Wendy s, thus evidence supporting
this statement will be presented in the essay. The second part of the essay will be a discussion
regarding the cultural aspects of Wendy s case and how this impacts on the psychoanalysis approach.
However, before that can be done, one will need to provide the reader with insight on what
psychoanalysis is.
The psychoanalysis approach deals with improving disorders that interfere with the day to day
function of an individual. Therapists who make use of this approach focus mainly on the individual s
developmental history (Ivey, 1997) and the unconscious of the client in order to reach a point at

Perseverance in Robert Frost s Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening
Epictetus once wrote, First say what you would be; and then do what you have to do. This aphorism of
self discovery and obligation clearly describes Robert Frost s poem, Stopping by Woods on a Snowy
Evening. In the course of the poem, Frost s speaker is confronted with two choices: he can either
forget his problems or he can follow through with his responsibilities and make the most of life. It is
through Frost s remarkable presentation of the speaker s thoughts that the reader may see how difficult
this decision can be. Through powerful elements, such as alliteration, rhythm, and imagery, Frost
stresses the importance of perseverence and facing one s fears and ... Show more content on

Through clever and distant alliteration, Frost displays the importance of deciding whether to remain
strong and press forward or to cowardly give up.
Despite its possibly being the more difficult path, Frost signifies the essence of perseverence through
rhythm. Throughout the poem, Frost employs a repetitive, trance like rhythm to compliment the
speaker s struggle to fight off reality and remain in his carefree world. Furthermore, Jhan Hochman
explains it as an ingenious form of interlocking rhyme: the third unrhymed line of the first three
stanzas provokes the subsequent stanza s rhymed sound (Hochman 4). Frost s use of rhythm is an
eloquent and clever element that expresses the weak and weary state of the speaker in his moment of a
life changing decision. Yet, in the last stanza frost brings his flowing lines to an abrupt halt with But I
have promises to keep (Frost 13). With this line, Frost not only shifts the meter of the poem, but also
signifies the speaker s realization that he cannot give up or quit because of the life commitments he
has made. Frost powerfully uses the rhythm in Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening to emphasize
the importance of choosing the path of life and all of its responsibilities instead of the easy way out.
With imagery, Frost again stresses the significance of persevering over one s fears. The

Organizational structure Organizational structure is the way in witch an organization s activities (job

A useful example is retail banking or the work of building societies. Here the operations have to be
standardized, not only in all branches of the same bank but also between competing banks, so that
customers find the system easy to deal with. The work of bank clerks and, in a different way, bank
managers requires knowledge, skill and accuracy, but it must be carried out strictly in accordance with
the rules and there is little scope for individuality apart from one s manner in talking with customers
and manual dexterity in counting banknote. Bureaucracy provides scope for economies of scale and
extensive specialization at the expense of flexibility and product innovation. Their predictability
provides a secure environment for the employee and a clear line of safe career progression.
Chief Executive
The matrix structure
As the entrepreneurial and bureaucratic structures have such obvious drawbacks, a third general mode
has been evolved and used IV some situations: the matrix. The method is simply to overlay a second
set of hierarchical connections over a first, but at right angles to it. This was first developed in the
American aerospace industry because of government demands for a single project manager who
would be responsible for the progress of each government contract and to whom government officials
could channel all their queries and instruction. Companies

Strategy and Strategic Management
STRATEGY AND STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT
What is Strategy?
A strategy is a long term approach to implementing a firm s business plans to achieve its business
objectives. It is also defined as the art and science of planning and marshalling resources for their
most efficient and effective use.
However, Johnson and Scholes (Exploring Corporate Strategy) define strategy as follows:
Strategy is the direction and scope of an organization over the long term: which achieves advantage
for the organization through its configuration of resources within a challenging environment, to meet
the needs of markets and to fulfill stakeholder expectations .
In other words, strategy is about: * Where is the business trying to get to in the long term ... Show

It entails specifying the organization s mission, vision and objectives, developing policies and plans,
often in terms of projects and programs, which are designed to achieve these objectives, and then
allocating resources to implement the policies and plans, projects and programs. A balanced scorecard
is often used to evaluate the overall performance of the business and its progress towards objectives.
Recent studies and leading management theorists have advocated that strategy needs to start with
stakeholders expectations and use a modified balanced scorecard which includes all stakeholders.
Strategic management is an ongoing process that evaluates and controls the business and the industries
in which the company is involved; assesses its competitors and sets goals and strategies to meet all
existing and potential competitors; and then reassesses each strategy annually or quarterly [i.e.
regularly] to determine how it has been implemented and whether it has succeeded or needs
replacement by a new strategy to meet changed circumstances, new technology, new competitors, a
new economic environment., or a new social, financial, or political environment. (Lamb, 1984)

Reactions To Evil In Watership Down By Richard Adams
Evil takes a prominent role in the classic adventure novel Watership Down, and the author, Richard
Adams, introduces many old and new reactions to evil as the story progresses. Richard Adams makes
his point very clear, there is evil everywhere on Earth, and it can even be present the downs of the
English countryside. Richard Adams explores this idea of evil through many different forms: foxes,
badgers, birds, humans, and the earth itself. The novel shows the readers these responses so, in turn,
the reader knows the correct way to respond to evil accordingly. In Watership Down, while running
away was the easiest way to respond to evil, the rabbits looked to the natural world and fought back as
well.
Running away is the most noticeable and explainable reaction to evil in Watership Down. Being the
most common reaction to anything intimidating or frightening in the world of humans, readers can
assume the rabbits will do the same. After all, are they not just rabbits? One quote from the book
explains this perfectly, Oh, Hazel! This is where it comes from! I know now something very bad!
Some terrible thing coming closer and closer....We have to leave (27 30). The whole novel essentially
revolves around the rabbits running away from their warren. Although the rabbits have other reaction
events occur, everything all comes back to the novel s core reaction; running away. Another quote
explaining this reaction is one from Captain Holly, I got away with what I did (154). However,

Psychological Theory In The Outsiders
The Outsiders People make many impactful decisions that will affect their future. Psychological
theory explains the motive of a person s actions. It helps understand or analyze a character s actions
and motives. Maslow s hierarchy of needs states that in order to achieve self actualization, one must
acquire his/her basic and psychological needs (Maslow). Basic needs include physiological and safety
needs (Maslow). Psychological needs include belongingness and love and esteem needs (Maslow). A
person would need this to reach his/her truest potential (Maslow). According to Maslow s hierarchy of
needs, Johnny does not have the requirements he needs to reach self actualization. In order for a

Chivalry Code
However, Chaucer not only recognized pride within the hierarchies of the common man, but also
recognized the immorality of the knighthood. Knights were usually born into their class and raised to
serve their lords, thus decorating them with a sense of nobility and pride (McLean and Signman 18).
Because of their role of protection, knights were commanded to adhere to a code of conduct.
According to the book, What Life Was Like In the Age of Chivalry, this code of conduct was
constructed by the king and enforced the idea of a strict sense of honor, morale, and duty (53). This
code of conduct was vital for the morality of the knights and was commonly believed to be a
mechanism used to elevate the status of women; however, according to Natalie Demasi, chivalry isn t
about women at all. It is a code written for knights, for the men. Chivalry s true purpose was meant to
elevate the religious and social status of male knights, not the women. This ... Show more content on

the Knight, haughty in his mindset of his social status, did not realize the unfaithfulness of his own
wife. Because the knights were regarded as the ideal warrior and man, pride naturally formed in their
behavior. Therefore, Chaucer portrayed the hypocrisy within their ideals and attacked the knighthood

Islam And The Common Cause Of Unity
In the religion of Islam, Muslims believe in the common cause of unity. United under one creed that is
the first pillar of Islam and the primary and absolute faith that one should devote to. It is the Shahada,
which says, I believe in no gods but Allah and Muhammad (PBUH) is the messenger of Allah , but
even though this is the common creed among all Muslims around the world, many chose to divide
themselves and separated themselves under a slightly different and innovated creed.
Since the Prophethood of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Islam started to embed into the lives of the
people of Arabia and as the number of people taking Shahada started to grow, they followed and
trailed behind the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Soon After the demise of Prophet
Muhammad (PBUH) in the 7th century the divide started to arise inside the Muslim communities in
the land of Arabia when disagreements over the successor to the Prophet Muhammad arose.
The Sunnis maintain to believe that there was going to be a formal selection of who the Prophet s
successor or Caliph was going to be because according to Quran that is the rightful way of selection
that includes the consensus of the majority votes. But the admirers of Ali(RA), who was the son in law
of the Prophet Muhammad, protested and believed that the Prophet(PBUH) had chosen His son in law
to be His rightful successor. According to the Shia Muslims, they believe Prophet Muhammad(PBUH)
designated Imam Ali(RA) as His successor by Allah s

Compare And Contrast The New England Middle And Southern...
Introduction
The New England, Middle and Southern colonies were the part of the New World which used to
belong to the British. Although the colonies all had good things, all of the regions had things that didn
´t help them grow as a region. Some colonies had rocky soil for example. Having a good climate and a
good topography is part of agriculture, having materials to work is part of manufacturing. If no one
has the right materials than the most probable thing to happen is that people will not be as productive
as with the right materials.
Industry
Each of the three regions had different types of industry. The New England colonies used to do

The end state is any personal value the consumer may have. The theory also suggests using five
elements when creating ads that include the product s attributes, the benefits the consumer receives
from the product, a leverage point, personal values, and executional framework. I feel that Geico takes
this theory into consideration when designing their ads. The product attribute of low cost is linked to
the specific benefit of consumer savings. The leverage point for Geico is the link between the savings
benefit and the personal values of accomplishment (saving money) and security. The brand s number

appeals have been used throughout the years to create successful ads. Seven major types of ad appeals
exist and they include: fear, humor, sex, rationality, music, emotion, and scarcity. After reviewing the
creative brief, the type of appeal should be chosen for the product/service. More than one appeal can
be employed if account executives and their client feel it is appropriate. Geico uses humor as their
chief appeal in designing their advertisements. Ironically car insurance is not a fun or humorous
product so to speak. On the contrary, it is necessary coverage that consumers hope to never use. Geico

By staying close to the royal family, Rasputin was able to obtain court power, having influence on

Rasputin s influence on the royal family, such as the removal of Grand Duke Nikolai Nikolevich in the
summer of 1915. Rasputin was perceived as able to remove and appoint high officials, all while
managing to stay out of governmental documentation. It does appear that Rasputin did not have any
political motives, and that it was merely the consolidation of personal power and prestige. His primary
motive was to maintain his position through manipulation of appointments. When it came to the First

Living In The City Vs City Life
Living in the city can be an exciting experience for a greater opportunity than living in the country.
The country provides a relaxing environment that the city may not provide. Some would prefer to live
the city life, others prefer the country life. People who live in the country would probably have
hobbies like fishing, hunting, and riding dirt bikes versus people living in the city; People living in the
city would much rather go out to nice restaurants, live close to other people, and have an expensive
lifestyle. Living in the city is very different from living in the country because they are different
lifestyles with different atmospheres.
Residence in the city can have a greater variety of things to do and different varieties of people to
meet. Residing in the city can give you better opportunities to make friends than the country because
everyone lives so close together and the county has property at a farther distance. Even though the
property is separated out the country area, it would be hard not to run into an individual that you may
be familiar with because they are usually in small towns. City life would be great for individuals that
love meeting new people every day and doing a variety of things in their free time.
In the city, there are more to be entertained with like shopping outlet s, bowling alleys, and special
events that the country may not have. Individuals that are twenty one and up can stop at bars and

killing his family is not what a man does. Krishna confronts Arjuna by explaining his pure dharmic

without considering the consequences. Meaning a masculine character follows his dharmic duty

part and women largely staying at home. This is not the case in today s society where women are also
expected to get jobs most of the time. In this way, the burden on men to bring in the money has
lessoned but women still face the pressure of being beautiful. Tannen exposes this more current set of
problems for women when she discusses the expectation that women look presentable at work. She
writes, The range of women s hairstyles is staggering, but a woman whose hair has no particular style
is perceived as not caring about how she looks, which can disqualify her for many positions, and will
subtly diminish her as a person in the eyes of some. Whereas men do not have to think about their
hairstyles and general appearance for work men s hair has to be unusual to be marked and no makeup
is unmarked for men women must consider how much makeup and what hair do they will do. Every
style for women is marked and not taking the time to decide on a style marks a woman as not put

Effective altruism, philanthropic locals, and conservative philanthropy. Personally, I believe that if
every individual has the same philanthropy mindset, all of these would be successful and solve social
problems that the world is facing. Obviously, in today s society, everyone has their beliefs and support

The cost of custom software development to build a mobile solution is far beyond the budget of most

There are a multitude of patient privacy (HIPAA) and patient information concerns related to the use

Augustus Superstition
Suetonius describes Augustus in a negative light. At first it didn t seem that way. The Roman historian
touched on Augustus interest in Greek literature and almost a hunger to understand and respect it.
From this description it felt more like admiration for Augustus attempting to understand what he did
not. Yet Suetonius then goes to discuss Augustus sensitivity and immense superstition. More time was
spent detailing his fears and strange behavior than depicting his interests in another culture. It almost
seemed as though Suetonius was mocking Augustus, showcasing someone that was interested in
everything Hellenistic yet who was also afraid to go out on certain days of the week. If his shoes were

But considering that Suetonius is a Roman historian, I believe that is safe to assume that it cannot be

Greek wasn t a first language, if it had been Augustus would ve known it. For if he had occasion to use
the language, he wrote what he had to say in Latin and gave it to someone else to translate (Suetonius
89). This seems to prove that the first language learned by the Romans was Latin not Greek, meaning
that Greek culture came second to Roman culture. Greek culture wasn t a priority. So when
considering whether these accounts are real, it s debatable for two reasons. One, the accounts may be
real in the sense that Suetonius is depicting through his own narrative how Romans view anyone who
is interested in Greek culture. They might seem simple minded and fickle, the way that he seems to
describe Augustus. The second reason being that these events could be untrue; Augustus could have
had a few small superstitions that Suetonius merely exaggerated because of his potential disapproval
of his interest in Greek culture. This would mean that August was curious about Greek culture and the
world around him but it was presented to us in a negative way. Personally, because the examples of
Augustus worries seemed to be exaggerated, coupled with Suetonius being a Roman historian, I do not
trust his account of Augustus completely. I believe that Augustus was curious but not too curious for

A Real Life Maycomb
Harper Lee wrote To Kill a Mockingbird about a little Alabama town called Maycomb. What is

someone almost as much as someone who actually smokes, depending on how often he/she is around
it. Young children are a huge target for this subject because many biological and medical researchers
have found second hand smoke causing lifetime damage, and many other negative effects to children
as they grow. Smoking bans in certain areas around the world has caused the number of children s
hospital visits for asthma to drop significantly (Louis 1). Children are also greatly affected by second
hand smoke and some parents do not realize the harm that they are causing to their young children.
Young children are growing fast and their lungs are also growing very fast and second hand smoke
can seriously damage their lungs temporarily or even permanently. Children can t walk away from
second hand smoke, either because they are too young to walk or their parents won t let them. When
children are riding in the back of a car and an adult decides they want to smoke, the child or children
have no other choice but to breathe in the thick, chemical filled smoky air. 16 percent of the world s

Rumours, by Fleetwood Mac Essay
In 1977, when Fleetwood Mac released their multi platinum album Rumours, I was 4 years old and far
too young to appreciate music. As I entered my mid 20s, I had acquired a passion for music of the
1970s and fell in love with the Eagles, Rush, Led Zeppelin, but most importantly, Fleetwood Mac.
Their music had become a part of me. It had developed into my personal therapeutic outlet and helped
to keep me sane during any emotional upheaval that I might have been experiencing. It was then that I
realized that the passionate, heartfelt music of Fleetwood Mac captured the very being of my soul and
I became entranced. At any point of the day, whether at home or driving in my car, you could catch me
listening to any one of their many albums. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was not a single song on the album that did not come to life and cause all of us to relate to every
emotion within their songs. When listening to Go Your Own Way one hears the lyrics, Loving you isn
t the right thing to do. / How can I ever change things that I feel? / If I could baby I d give you my
world. / How can I when you won t take it from me? / You can go your own way, go your own way.
These lyrics capture your soul. They speak of the pain that accompanies the demise of a relationship.
On the other hand, Don t Stop provokes feelings of hope and optimism instead of wallowing in the
past. The entire playlist of Rumors causes lovers to reflect upon their own past heartbreak and relate.
The album s ability to make that kind impression on a person s heart makes it phenomenal. We all
desire to be able to relate to others and to feel understood. Once we make that connection, it remains
with us always.
Moreover, according to the Recording Industry Association of America, Rumours was certified
platinum in America and in the UK within months of its release ( RIAA: Gold Platinum ).
Furthermore, the album spent 31 weeks on top of the Billboard charts and won the Grammy award
Album of the Year in 1978 ( Christgau, Robert. Christgau s Record Guide ) ( Grammy Rewind ).
Additionally, as of this year, it is the 10th best selling album in US History ( Diamond Awards.
Recording Industry Association of America ).
As mentioned before,

  • 2. Protein World Advertisement Analysis Despite the great strides women s rights activists have made into accessing and challenging the inequalities women have faced in recent years, there still remains a lingering tone of misogyny and sexism within American popular culture. From television shows and magazines, to advertisements, mass media frequently enforces negative stereotypes regarding body, race, and sex, with many of these platforms wholeheartedly employing them in order to gain popularity through shock tactics. The Protein World Weight Loss Collection advertisement is one such example of the negative ways in which women are portrayed within the media, with women being objectified and portrayed as sex objects in order to market not only their product, but the idea of beachbody readiness . It is through the Protein World advertisement that viewers are given insight into how women of various body types are marginalized within American society. Before even analyzing the Protein World advertisement, which markets their weightloss collection, viewers are immediately alerted by the jarringly bright yellow background the advertisement features. Along with this, the advertisement depicts a thin, blonde haired woman wearing a bikini coupled with text ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In doing so, the Protein World shames larger women and further pushes the narrative of skinny bodies being desirable or a goal. It is important to note that skinny figures are not the only healthy body type, and any advertisement that depicts them as goal, innately project unhealthy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Vocational Education Technical education, also more commonly known as vocational education, has been around for a long period of time, first starting to appear federally funded in high school classrooms in mid 1917. Picture a high school student that is struggling in their classes and sees no other option but to drop out of school and work at a fast food restaurant. Then they walk into their first day of Agriculture (A.G.) where they will be learning about welding and the fine arts of fabrication. After the first couple days of how to be safe in the shop, they discover that they really enjoy welding small structures, so they decide to stay in school. Several years later they graduate, and instead of mainstreaming and going to college, they are able to receive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, in order for Houle to teach, he needed to receive his teaching credentials, which in turn meant he would have to go to college. And when it came to academics, Houle was far behind because the highest level of math he had taken was Algebra 1. The goal was to get people to work (Houle) Vocational education was not intended to prepare students for college. More than 117 years ago, an assortment of groups of people started advocating for the use of new vocational education programs in schools. A majority of supporters for vocational education consisted of businessmen and labor unions, who saw it as an answer to problems of skilled labor shortages and a way to help heal unemployment in a swiftly industrializing society. There are also two sides to the story. While employers were anticipating the weakening of labor unions, the workers saw it as opportunity for not only individual advancement, but also a means of dignifying labor. Many people regarded vocational training as an opportunity to teach and learn the value of work because they believed the value was being washed out of modern society. • 6. Relationship Between Vivian And Molly In any genuine friendship there are the differences between the people that spark curiosity, yet, it is similarities that draw two together to form a tight bond. This is evident in the friendship that starts between Vivian and Molly. Vivian, from outward show, does not display the slightest similarity with Molly. It is not until one examines the often tragic back stories of both that striking parallels begin to be made clear. By the time all is uncovered, the likenesses shared between Vivian and Molly far outweigh any disparities. In examining the relationship between Vivian and Molly, a perfect balance is struck in Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline. In Orphan Train, Christina Baker Kline weaves a strong friendship between two characters, Vivian and Molly, despite a lengthy list of differences. The most blatant contrast, and the root cause of many other differences, is age and the separate eras both Vivian and Molly grow up in. In the span of her life, Vivian Nielsen, a ninety one year old widow, experiences the Great Depression, World War II, and a technology boom impossible to keep up with. On the other hand, Molly Ayer is a sixteen year old tech savvy foster child who uses her Goth persona like armor against an unsympathetic society (Kline 4). Another dissimilarity is ethnicity. Vivian is a first generation Irish immigrant and in being a Penobscot Native American Indian, Molly is unable to be more different than Vivian. While these differences seem apparent, the ... Economic Overview In Auto Industry Essay Economic Overview of the Automotive Industry The automotive industry is without a doubt an industry that has massive implications relating to the United States economy as well as affecting every American household. Few American households live without some form of transportation. The amount of money spent on the transportation proves whether the automobile is a necessity or a luxury. Higher priced models sell more when the economy is stronger. When the economy is slow lower cost cars are more popular. Transportation as a whole is a necessity. The form of the transportation is what determines if it is a luxury. (Collier, 1981) The fluctuations in the supply and demand of automobiles have an effect on other industries. One such industry that is affected in a measurable way is the after market automobile parts industry. When the demand for new automobiles is high the demand for after market parts is lower. When the demand for new automobiles is low the demand for after market parts rises. The only explanation is uncovered when looking at individual households. Individual households have a limited amount of money to budget for transportation. If new cars are in high demand the income is higher for individual households. If new cars are not in high demand individual households have less money to budget for transportation. With less money to budget for transportation, individuals are more likely to use after market parts to make repairs on their existing vehicle rather than purchase a new vehicle when their current vehicle needs costly repairs. The cost to repair a vehicle is far less than the cost to purchase a new vehicle. (Lamonica, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Perseverance in Robert Frost s Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening Epictetus once wrote, First say what you would be; and then do what you have to do. This aphorism of self discovery and obligation clearly describes Robert Frost s poem, Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening. In the course of the poem, Frost s speaker is confronted with two choices: he can either forget his problems or he can follow through with his responsibilities and make the most of life. It is through Frost s remarkable presentation of the speaker s thoughts that the reader may see how difficult this decision can be. Through clever and distant alliteration, Frost displays the importance of deciding whether to remain strong and press forward or to cowardly give up. Despite its possibly being the more difficult path, Frost signifies the essence of perseverence through rhythm. Throughout the poem, Frost employs a repetitive, trance like rhythm to compliment the speaker s struggle to fight off reality and remain in his carefree world. Furthermore, Jhan Hochman explains it as an ingenious form of interlocking rhyme: the third unrhymed line of the first three stanzas provokes the subsequent stanza s rhymed sound (Hochman 4). Frost s use of rhythm is an eloquent and clever element that expresses the weak and weary state of the speaker in his moment of a life changing decision. Yet, in the last stanza frost brings his flowing lines to an abrupt halt with But I have promises to keep (Frost 13). With this line, Frost not only shifts the meter of the poem, but also signifies the speaker s realization that he cannot give up or quit because of the life commitments he has made. Frost powerfully uses the rhythm in Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening to emphasize the importance of choosing the path of life and all of its responsibilities instead of the easy way out. With imagery, Frost again stresses the significance of persevering over one s fears. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since the Prophethood of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Islam started to embed into the lives of the people of Arabia and as the number of people taking Shahada started to grow, they followed and trailed behind the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Soon After the demise of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in the 7th century the divide started to arise inside the Muslim communities in the land of Arabia when disagreements over the successor to the Prophet Muhammad arose. The Sunnis maintain to believe that there was going to be a formal selection of who the Prophet s successor or Caliph was going to be because according to Quran that is the rightful way of selection that includes the consensus of the majority votes. But the admirers of Ali(RA), who was the son in law of the Prophet Muhammad, protested and believed that the Prophet(PBUH) had chosen His son in law to be His rightful successor. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sander s essay focuses on his childhood when men were working in manual labor jobs for the most part and women largely staying at home. This is not the case in today s society where women are also expected to get jobs most of the time. In this way, the burden on men to bring in the money has lessoned but women still face the pressure of being beautiful. Tannen exposes this more current set of problems for women when she discusses the expectation that women look presentable at work. She writes, The range of women s hairstyles is staggering, but a woman whose hair has no particular style is perceived as not caring about how she looks, which can disqualify her for many positions, and will subtly diminish her as a person in the eyes of some. Whereas men do not have to think about their hairstyles and general appearance for work men s hair has to be unusual to be marked and no makeup is unmarked for men women must consider how much makeup and what hair do they will do. Every style for women is marked and not taking the time to decide on a style marks a woman as not put together. But considering that Suetonius is a Roman historian, I believe that is safe to assume that it cannot be trusted. The Greeks and Romans at the time had tension from past wars and disagreements. In Rome, Greek wasn t a first language, if it had been Augustus would ve known it. For if he had occasion to use the language, he wrote what he had to say in Latin and gave it to someone else to translate (Suetonius 89). This seems to prove that the first language learned by the Romans was Latin not Greek, meaning that Greek culture came second to Roman culture. Greek culture wasn t a priority. So when considering whether these accounts are real, it s debatable for two reasons. One, the accounts may be real in the sense that Suetonius is depicting through his own narrative how Romans view anyone who is interested in Greek culture. They might seem simple minded and fickle, the way that he seems to describe Augustus. The second reason being that these events could be untrue; Augustus could have had a few small superstitions that Suetonius merely exaggerated because of his potential disapproval of his interest in Greek culture. This would mean that August was curious about Greek culture and the world around him but it was presented to us in a negative way.
