Soma Mİne Disaster
Regardless of the counted years, death is inevitable; in other words, everybody dies. Though, death
appears for a special purpose such as health problems, accidents or cruelty, but not destiny. After the
sorrowful mine disaster in Soma, finding logical reasons for 301 people s death has become
indispensable for the Turkish government. However, the government claimed that destiny led to Soma
mine disaster, which was completely inaccurate and unsatisfactory. As the government has become
unreliable, opponents questioned the issue and found out the actual causes: Soma mine disaster has
happened due to economic and political goals in favor of the government and the companies and
ignorance of human rights. To begin with, economic aims caused to Soma mine disaster due to
capitalism, allowing illegal workers and extra coal policy. Initially, as long as capitalism is applied, the
disastrous race between companies, including Soma Holding keeps existing. For example, in order to
beat each other, firms regard fraud and cruel attitudes as a useful policy; hence, the race never ends in
spite of the devastating consequences. Accordingly, considering the urgent job needs of poor people,
companies employ illegal workers to make profit which does not provide security for these workers.
Thus, after an accident, illegal workers end up in wretched conditions as they cannot benefit from
legal rights or any kind of insurance. Moreover, as a result of the race, the policy of mining extra coal

At 10:00 we got on our plane to head to Fort Myers, Florida. The plane ride was long and tiring, and
on the plane I was sitting next to a very nice lady while I was doing my homework.
Do you need to turn on the lights? she asked.
No I m okay, I replied. Thank you though. We went on with the rest of our plane ride. Before landing
our pilot did a little overview of the ocean and Florida, even though we couldn t see, the lights from
Florida looked amazing! When we got off the plane and everyone was tired at 2:00 in the morning and
we got our rental car and headed off to the hotel. Of course we jumped in bed when we got there and
slept until morning.
The first day in Florida was really exciting for me because I ve never been there and it was a first time
experience with Florida. We went to go get breakfast and I saw the lady that was on the plane with me
there! After breakfast we decided to meet up with family that stayed in Florida and we went to some
shops and explored around the city. The weather in Florida was kind of chilly that day so we didn t get
to do much. After that we went to go eat, then went back to the hotel. At the hotel we all decided to go
out to the pool. We put on our swimming suits and headed downstairs to the nice outdoor pool. After a
while we went inside and watched Netflix on our phones while some of us slept. The next day was
kind of a random day. We drove

The During The Dutch Golden Age
Portraiture During The Dutch Golden Age
The 17th century was a very successful period for the Dutch Republic, as the golden age started,
trading has increased, exploration was at its peak, and merchants were becoming very wealthy and
powerful. At this time paintings were a form of communication to express power, value, and social
class. During the golden age Dutch artists have specialized and master the genre of still life,
portraiture, scene s of everyday life, and landscape painting. Middle class merchants and wealthy
people were the driving force for the demand of art, because luxury was associated with power (De
Vries). As a result people wanted to express through art their power and wealth in paintings.
Furthermore, paintings also let painters express the current fashion and luxurious lives of people. Even
though everyone interprets a painting in a very different way, portraits from the Dutch golden age
usually emphasized a certain predominant value in its paintings. Portraiture, from the Dutch golden
age, mainly focused on emphasizing, pride, power, prosperity, and idealism in its paintings.
During the 17th century, as the Dutch golden age was thriving the trading and collecting of artwork
has gained interest in people. More middle class citizens were in larger cities for easy access to
merchandise. It was a time where Dutch trade, science, warfare, and art were the most well known
around the world. During the golden age one of the main luxury items was art, more

Not True Love in William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet Essay
Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet popularly considered by many to be the quintessential love story of
all time is a play that we are all familiar with in one way or another. Whether it be through the plethora
of portrayals, adaptations and performances that exist or through your own reading of the play,
chances are you have been acquainted with this tale of tragic love at some point in your life. Through
this universal familiarity an odd occurrence can be noted, one of almost canonical reverence for the
themes commonly believed to be central to the plot. The most widely believed theme of Romeo and
Juliet is that of the ideal love unable to exist under the harsh social and political strains of this world.
Out of this idea emerge two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, he is the one who seems to have the faulty reasoning and who relies on fancy words to
convey his otherwise weak emotions. It is the attention he receives that causes me to scrutinize him
with a keener eye; after all, we must hold those we revere most highly accountable for their actions . .
.
From the moment we first hear about Romeo, it is in the context of his suffering at the hands of love.
Romeo s father, Montague, perplexed by his son s behavior states that, Many a morning hath he there
been seen, / With tears augmenting the fresh morning s dew, / Adding to clouds more clouds with his
deep sighs (1.1.124 26). While this may be the first time we encounter Romeo s melancholy humour,
it certainly isn t the last. In fact, one of the primary sources of our infatuation with Romeo rests in our
sympathy for him. From the very start this poor boy is plagued by affections for girls that fate, it
seems, will not let him be with. At first, it s Rosaline, a girl who has sworn that she will still live
chaste (1.1.210), a vow that sets Romeo reeling and complaining because from love s weak childish
bow she lives unharmed (1.1.204). His depression over Rosaline is enough to draw the attention of his
father, Montague, who has observed that Romeo shuts himself up in his room all day in order to
wallow in the darkness. These are the actions of someone who is undeniably quite

The sequences of events regarding accident causation are explained in a one dimension by both
models of Heinrich and Bird (Kjellen, 1987, HSC, 1983). Reason (1990) introduced by the end of the
1980s the causality of accidents in numerous formats. He saw the involvement and active participation
by the management on top as a key ingredient in the avoidance of interaction of active and latent
failures in the causation of accidents. Causes of accidents are easily identified from active failures.
Whereas instances of poor design, lack of training and gaps in supervision that are inherently latent
failures in organisations are usually present for many years in the system but tend to be hidden and
hard to detect. Investigation of a complex accident needs a comprehensive combination of methods to
be used as the areas of application have deficiencies and different qualities. There are many
underlying factors at work that lead to accidents usually neglected because at times they are minor but
only come to light when they result into serious damage to health and/or death. All accidents at work
must be investigated irrespective of their size (www.hse.gov.uk). The Health and Safety at Work Act
1974, S2(1)(2) imposes a duty on all employers to ensure workers safe premises, safe working
conditions and adequate welfare services and public health as reasonably practicable. Events based on

Accrual Accounting And Cash-Flow Accounting Principles
The fundamental accounting principle that firms are compelled to follow when presenting their
performances of a certain period is based on earnings, not realised cash flows. That is, recording a
transaction as it happens regardless of the collection of cash which involved in it (Marshall,
McManus Viele, 2014, p.18). The notions that the use of accrual accounting in measuring a firm s
performance would provide higher quality and accuracy than cash flow accounting is addressed by
Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) in a statement in 1978. They affirmed the concept in

The Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) suggested that firm performance is measured
more accurately by using accrual accounting instead of cash flow accounting. The main reason to
adopt accrual accounting as a standard when reporting earnings is that it measures short term firm
performance better, as it efficiently mitigates timing and matching problem in cash flow accounting.
Another fact that supports accrual accounting is that earnings has proven to be a better indication of
future share returns and share prices. However, the costs of adopting accrual accounting are firm make
assumptions and estimations when recorded the information. There are intentional errors, such as
managements manipulate the classifications of the data in their preferences. Also, the unintentional
errors will arise especially in the firm which have long operating cycle and/or the firms that have huge
fluctuations in working capital requirements. The disadvantages will thus reduce the beneficial role of
accrual accounting. The importance of cash flow accounting is that it helps the public inspect the firm
s short term solvency. Also, cash flows accounting prevent the errors caused by firm management
deliberately manipulate over recording accounting data. Therefore, the information that accrual
accounting and cash flow accounting provided are incremental to each other in explaining firm

Tony Quiet Strength
Professional football coach, Tony Dungy, is a man of honor and strength throughout his book Quiet

Tony portrayed his son s suicide in his book, considering the stigmas tied to suicide. A Godly leader is
someone who is humble, of an honorable character, as well as someone who has devoted themselves
to God. Tony s siblings are doctors and dentists, due to the nature of their work, Tony is humble since
football is just that, football, while his siblings are saving lives. I do not follow sports nor do I

I Was Sick At An Alley, After The Funeral Essay
I was sick in an alley, after the funeral. It was the last time I wore black, and I was making a mess of
it. After sitting in the damp for a few hours I crawled out of that hellhole to what I thought was the
nearest bar, and ordered two neat whiskeys one for me and the duke, just like we used to after the
particularly stupid missions. A bowl of soup was put out in front of me, as it slowly dawned upon me
that the bar I walked into was a diner, and the tender a waitress. Her eyes were a hazy hazel blue,
sparkly grand from the last of the ludes in my system, and she smiled some pity to me. I went to the
bathroom, cleaned myself up, and had the most goddammned delicious chicken noodle of my life. I
put my last twenty on the counter, conjured up a smile, went on my way and that s how I started

the next. I kept ordering coffee, chatting her up, getting the story down and trying to tell what I could
of mine. I felt compelled to be there I liked being around her, she was funny, quirky, fresh air from the
usual choke and gloom and violence of mage s life. It was hard for me to come to terms with the fact
that as I spent time with her, it was more than liking her company than I liking her. She was different

Jeannette Walls Conclusion
It can be said that despite literal simplicity some objects or places have a much deeper metaphorical
meaning to certain individuals. For Jeannette Walls, the Glass Castle is more than just the title of her
memoir. To begin, Jeannette lived most of her childhood in poverty, running from town to town in
order to avoid federal agents who are actually just bill collectors. Even so, the family dreamed of a
much brighter future in a place called the Glass Castle. Jeannette s father, Rex Walls, planned A great
big house he was going to build for us in the desert. It would have a glass ceiling and thick glass walls
and even a glass staircase...solar cells on the top that would catch the sun s rays...even have its own

Additionally, it meant pulling themselves out of poverty and living a lavish lifestyle. In reality, they
would never build the Glass Castle, mainly due to Rex s inability to hold a job and make enough
money. Although this may be true, the Glass Castle was what held Rex and the children s relationship
together. Furthermore, when times became arduous, [Rex would] pull the blueprints out and let us
work on the design for our rooms (Walls 25). It kept their faith in Rex alive, even when he didn t
deserve it, as the Glass Castle was complete fiction and failed to do anything but give Jeannette and
her siblings false hope. Rex s plans for the future were flamboyant, but tended to resemble glass
fragile and elusive. With this in mind, as long as Jeannette lived with her parents, the improvement in
her quality of life would be too little and insignificant to mean anything. This reality begins to set in
when she is a teenager, starting when she lived in Welch, West Virginia. Brian, her brother, and
Jeannette take matters into their own hands and dig a hole for the foundation. Just like all his other
promises, Rex fails to actually set the foundation, so Brian and [Jeanette] watched the hole for the
Glass Castle s foundation slowly filled with garbage (Walls

Comparing The Epic Of Gilgamesh
Pride
The Epic of Gilgamesh was translated by Andrew George and the Iliad was written by Homer. These
are both heroic epics that show some similarities in their stories. The Epic of Gilgamesh came to us in
a fragmentary form and was written in some form we no longer have. It possibly influenced the Iliad
because the Iliad showed some modification of the epic and was written later than Gilgamesh. Both
stories show some similarities in theme, such as pride, morality, friendship, love, fate, and free will. In
both the books, pride seems like a big topic. Comparing the pride in the character Gilgamesh in the,

In tablet III, The Preparation for the Expedition to the Forest of Cedar, Gilgamesh and Enkidu were
scared to go on this journey and because of the pride they could go back home, and they had to
succeed. In the end of tablet II, Gilgamesh heard the words of the senior advisers, he looked with a
[laugh at] Enkidu...: [ Now, my friend, how frightened I am!] [In fear of him shall I change my mind]
(22). The elders warned Gilgamesh and Enkidu that they should not go into the forest because this is
not an accomplishable journey. Even the goddess Ninsun, Gilgamesh s mother, warns them not to go,
but they still went. In tablet IV, The Journey of the Cedar Forest, Gilgamesh got scared and had
multiple dreams. When he woke up, Gilgamesh said, [The dream that I had [was an utter confusion:]

Issue of Gay Marriage
The Issue of Gay Marriage
Summary
This essay debates the issue of same sex marriage in the United States. It considers the pros and cons
and examines the constitutional issues involved.
Introduction
Two strangers become friends and later fall in love. They tell their friends and family that they have
each found their soul mate and they intend to get married as soon as possible. There is only one issue
preventing them from getting married, not financial issues, and there are no love triangles. Depending
on where they live, their marriage may not be recognized in the state they live in. The right of gay and

Some research suggests same sex marriages could save money for federal and state governments. And
for corporate America, the costs of extending benefits to the partners and families of homosexual
employees are small. More and more companies, state and municipal governments, and colleges and
universities are granting benefits to homosexual workers and children. One big reason: It s cheap. On
average, it would add 1 2 percent tops to employers benefit costs.
At the state level, studies by homosexual research or advocacy groups also find or predict a positive
impact on budgets from same sex marriage or domestic partner legislation. This is primarily because
the changed law would reduce the number of people utilizing means tested programs, such as
Medicaid and food stamps. The incomes of domestic partners would be merged for means testing, and
some partners would look after each other without state help. Conservatives that oppose homosexual
marriages discount these cost benefit studies because they deal with the short term impact, and not the
long term effect of redefining marriage.
Many will argue that children of lesbian and gay parents do not grow up the same as children of
heterosexual parents. Opponents argue that children raised by gay parents were more likely to
consider homosexual relationships. Sexual orientation of a parent is critical to the upbringing of a
child. Society is based on the ideal of having heterosexual parents, and it goes against

Disadvantages Of Flexible Work
According to Hernreich, 2008 flextime or flexible can made our work force more efficient and more

Impacts Of The Great Depression
What was the Great Depression and what impact did it have? The Great Depression was the worst
economic situation known to man. It started in the late 1920s, 1929 1939 to be exact. It was the very
first severe depression ever encountered to our world. The impacts it had was that the stock market

Franklin D. Roosevelt took charge and created a New Deal, unlike the previous president, Hubert

The Evolution Of Pointe Shoes
Pointe shoes are the symbol of the ballerina and they have had a huge impact on the history of dance.
They are way more complex than what we tend to think and throughout this essay we will go over
their creation, how they re structured, and how they impacted ballet.
In the early 1700s, the technique of ballet developed rapidly and incorporated a new emphasis on
graceful foot technique. In 1726, Marie Camargo debuted at the Paris Opéra Ballet in a performance
of Les Caractères de la Danse, dancing in slippers instead of heeled shoes. She had also shortened her
stage skirt to show off the turnout of her legs and feet as well as her bas de jambe during entrechats.
After the French Revolution in 1789, emphasis was placed on the functional aspect ... Show more

This resulted in a demand for more elaborate pointe shoes. A wide range of designs were on the
market: from soft block shoes, which are designed for transition from soft shoes to pointe shoes, to
extremely hard shoes, which give extra strength, to machine manufactured rehearsal pointes for dance
students operating on a smaller budget. About thirty five ballet shoe manufacturers, such as Freed,
Grishko, Bloch, Capezio, and Gaynor Minden operate in the market. At the end of the twentieth
century, the fashion industry picked up the idea of ribbons and look alike pointe shoes, and designer
brands such as Manolo Blahnik, Sonia Rykiel, Etro, and Blumarine have used the pointe shoe style to
create ballerina fashion shoes.
At the beginning of the nineteenth century, an increasingly challenging ballet technique, en demi
pointe, allowed dancers to carry out multiple pirouettes and jumps. While men were identified as
playing a secondary role in the performance, from this point onward ballerinas rose to the toes and
contributed to a new dance aesthetic. This overt emphasis on the lightness of dancers was reflected by
Marie Taglioni, who appeared sur les pointes in the first performance of La Sylphide in 1832. Some
early examples of pointe shoes from this period are exhibited in the Haydn Museum in

Caesar Augustus Contributions
History is made up of individuals who were just living the life they wanted to live. Their actions ended
up making an impact on our world as we know it. At the time they probably had no clue that the
actions they put forth in their time would eventually lead up to the world we know today. Their life
events may not have been grand, but they were enough to make an impact. Caesar Augustus is one
example of a person in history who led a successful life.
Born Gaius Octavius on September 23, 63 B.C., in Velletri, Italy. Augustus was a sickly child with few
connections. Although, one connection he did have was being the great nephew of Julius Caesar.
Augustus was known by three different names throughout his life. From birth to 44 B.C. he was
known as Octavius, in 44 B.C. he was adopted and changed his name to Octavian and in 26 B.C. the
Roman Senate conferred on him the name Augustus. His father was a senator and governor in the
Roman Republic and passed away when Augustus was four years old; his mother Atai was Caesar s
niece. In his younger years his grandmother Julia Ceasaris helped raise him; she was the sister of
Julius Caesar.
Augustus donned the toga, the Roman sign of manhood, at age 16, and began taking on
responsibilities through his family connections. At the time Rome was dangerous and engulfed in a
civil war, one faction of the war was led by his great uncle Caesar. He started on his path of
responsibilities by leaving for Hispania to fight alongside his

Mechanical Turk s provides human intelligence task services, referring to tasks computer AI find
difficult where humans find simple. Mechanical Turk s target market is innately unique it provides a
large market of low skill solvers and seekers needing a large volume of low skill workers.
With it s large employee reach and freedom for what employers charge, Mechanical Turk is optimal
for microwork . Mechanical Turk s value is thus in its ability to source low skill, short term tasks
which require a large volume of workers to complete, with little to no interaction with the solver. This
also makes it valuable as a simple source of income for low skill solvers. The seeker gains value from
Mechanical Turk as it greatly saves on time, costs and is convenient. The solver gains value from
Mechanical Turk from the monetary incentive, freedom and ease of the work, and the convenience of
working online.

Thinking, Fractions And Decimals Are Extremely Important...
Multiplicative thinking, fractions and decimals are extremely important areas of mathematics children
are required to develop. The concepts within these three areas are related and it is critical for educators
to support these relationships in the classroom. Multiplicative thinking involves recall of basic facts,
the relationship between multiplication and division and underpins the development of fractions.
Comprehension of fractions includes the division of objects, fractions as numbers, the multiple ways
equal fractions can be represented, as well as being represented as decimals. Place value is a very
important underpinning concept of decimals. Place value aids the ability to read, write and work with
decimals. There are a number of difficulties children can come across when developing these concepts
and relationships. With a vast mathematical content knowledge and pedagogical content knowledge
educators can provide effective instruction to help children over come their difficulties. Developing a
deep understanding of multiplicative thinking, fractions and decimals will assist children in later
mathematics.
To become a multiplicative thinker the ability to recall basic multiplication facts and understanding of
the relationship between multiplication and division must be developed. If children do not develop the
ability to recall basic multiplication facts they can be in danger of developing negative feelings
towards mathematics and becoming withdrawn (Booker, Bond,

Henry M Case Study
Henry M. was a patient who underwent a radical brain surgery in hopes to cure his epilepsy, a brain
disorder that causes episodes of seizures. Diagnosed at a young age, Henry suffered from numerous
seizures, thus making it hard for him to live a normal life.
Despite the lack of treatments for epilepsy in 1953, Henry and his family took an extra leap of faith
and sought out Dr. William Scoville to help with Henry s condition. Although the idea of the surgery
was straight forward, the surgery of removing large sections of his temporal lobes, as well as the
hippocampus and amygdala, unfortunately left him only living in his past memories, unable to
produce new, present memories. After having lost chunks of his brain, Henry suffers anterograde

First I think we need to discuss Terry Bollea professionally known Hulk Hogan s situation. For many

a whole different person, and when he was suing Gawker Media it was not a wrestling angel but from

Tension Between Mental Health And Social Care
There is significant tension between care and control in current legislation and guidance in mental
health and social care. Politicians face severe pressure from the media, service users and their
families, the public and advocacy groups on these topics. Professionals involved in social care have a
duty of care towards people with mental ill health. However, there is also a duty of care towards
members of the public and family members of people with mental illnesses. Some people with mental
illness can display aggressive behaviour, injuring themselves or others. There have been some high
profile cases where people with mental illnesses have committed murders or assaults. This has created
tension between the policies of increasing the availability

Historical And Contemporary Of Ghetto
Ghetto, the word so frequently and severely misused due to the lack of attention to its historical and
social contexts. A word with a bevy of associations due to some of the characteristics of a ghetto. A
ghetto arises partially due to the forced spatial enclosure of the group through de jure or de facto
segregation, yet the enclosed group is ridiculed for something they have no control over. Effectively,
the lack of information contributes to mindsets and behaviors that instill a prejudicial behavior against
the affected group. As a means to deconstruct the definition of the word ghetto, four characteristics are
attached to its makeup, stigma, constraint, spatial confinement, and institutional encasement
(Wacquant). Although the ideology about ghettos are negative and irrefutably misinformed, the
seclusion actually has the potential for cultural enrichment and the ability to minimize institutional
discrimination. Due to the disentangling of race and race based discrimination from many policies in
the twentieth century, the ghetto was dissolved back to the slums in principal. This essay will attempt
to explain some of the historical and contemporary context of a ghetto, the components of a ghetto and
how these meanings have modern applications. One of the earliest usages of the term ghetto can be
seen when the Jews were forced to live in separate restricted districts to minimize any communication
between Jews, Christian, and catholic individuals. Furthermore, the ulterior

Why I Want To Understand The Brain By Anne Sexton
Sexton s poem allowed me to understand what it must feel like to live with a mental illness such as
depression. I was quite frightened to find that Sexton constantly wanted to kill herself. Her
confessional style of poetry allowed me to understand that this type of mental illness is a reality for
people. The way in which Anne Sexton describes her desire for death, allowed me to understand the
power depression held on her mind and body. The need to end her life must have meant that dying
outweighed any need to live. Anne Sexton had two children and I am shocked she would abandon
these two children for an escape from the world. I realised Sexton s drive to kill herself was greater
than the love for her own family. Even though it was selfish of

Auditing Standard No. 18
Auditing Standard No. 18, Related Parties
The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board adopted a new auditing standard concerning related
party transactions, significant unusual transactions, and a company s financial relationships and
transactions with its executive officers (PCAOB Standard No. 18, 2014). The goal of these new
regulations is to improve auditor performance requirements with regard to evaluating and responding
to the risks of material misstatements associated with related parties (Cohn, SEC, 2014). Investors will
benefit from these new adaptations to the auditing standards because the auditors will perform a more
thorough examination of related parties resulting in a better understanding of these relations (Cohn,
PCAOB, 2014). The old standards in these areas were seen to be insufficient by the Board. If action
was not taken, the transactions with these close relationships could increase the risk of material
misstatements in a company s financial statements. The new auditing standard and amendments we
adopted today address transactions and relationships that have been contributing factors in a number
of financial reporting frauds, said James R. Doty, PCAOB Chairman. Subjecting these areas to
enhanced auditor scrutiny may help avert corporate failures and avoid harm to investors (PCAOB
Standard No. 18, 2014). Doty also pointed out that Enron was brought down by related party
transactions and a company, Dynegy, was almost destroyed by significant

  • 2. Soma Mİne Disaster Regardless of the counted years, death is inevitable; in other words, everybody dies. Though, death appears for a special purpose such as health problems, accidents or cruelty, but not destiny. After the sorrowful mine disaster in Soma, finding logical reasons for 301 people s death has become indispensable for the Turkish government. However, the government claimed that destiny led to Soma mine disaster, which was completely inaccurate and unsatisfactory. As the government has become unreliable, opponents questioned the issue and found out the actual causes: Soma mine disaster has happened due to economic and political goals in favor of the government and the companies and ignorance of human rights. To begin with, economic aims caused to Soma mine disaster due to capitalism, allowing illegal workers and extra coal policy. Initially, as long as capitalism is applied, the disastrous race between companies, including Soma Holding keeps existing. For example, in order to beat each other, firms regard fraud and cruel attitudes as a useful policy; hence, the race never ends in spite of the devastating consequences. Accordingly, considering the urgent job needs of poor people, companies employ illegal workers to make profit which does not provide security for these workers. Thus, after an accident, illegal workers end up in wretched conditions as they cannot benefit from legal rights or any kind of insurance. At first, it s Rosaline, a girl who has sworn that she will still live chaste (1.1.210), a vow that sets Romeo reeling and complaining because from love s weak childish bow she lives unharmed (1.1.204). That is, recording a transaction as it happens regardless of the collection of cash which involved in it (Marshall, McManus Viele, 2014, p.18). The notions that the use of accrual accounting in measuring a firm s performance would provide higher quality and accuracy than cash flow accounting is addressed by Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) in a statement in 1978. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) suggested that firm performance is measured more accurately by using accrual accounting instead of cash flow accounting. The main reason to adopt accrual accounting as a standard when reporting earnings is that it measures short term firm performance better, as it efficiently mitigates timing and matching problem in cash flow accounting. Another fact that supports accrual accounting is that earnings has proven to be a better indication of future share returns and share prices. On average, it would add 1 2 percent tops to employers benefit costs. At the state level, studies by homosexual research or advocacy groups also find or predict a positive impact on budgets from same sex marriage or domestic partner legislation. This is primarily because the changed law would reduce the number of people utilizing means tested programs, such as Medicaid and food stamps. The incomes of domestic partners would be merged for means testing, and some partners would look after each other without state help. In the early 1700s, the technique of ballet developed rapidly and incorporated a new emphasis on graceful foot technique. In 1726, Marie Camargo debuted at the Paris Opéra Ballet in a performance of Les Caractères de la Danse, dancing in slippers instead of heeled shoes. Their life events may not have been grand, but they were enough to make an impact. Caesar Augustus is one example of a person in history who led a successful life. Born Gaius Octavius on September 23, 63 B.C., in Velletri, Italy. Augustus was a sickly child with few connections. Although, one connection he did have was being the great nephew of Julius Caesar. • 23. Thinking, Fractions And Decimals Are Extremely Important... Multiplicative thinking, fractions and decimals are extremely important areas of mathematics children are required to develop. The concepts within these three areas are related and it is critical for educators to support these relationships in the classroom. Multiplicative thinking involves recall of basic facts, the relationship between multiplication and division and underpins the development of fractions. Comprehension of fractions includes the division of objects, fractions as numbers, the multiple ways equal fractions can be represented, as well as being represented as decimals. Place value is a very important underpinning concept of decimals. Place value aids the ability to read, write and work with decimals. There are a number of difficulties children can come across when developing these concepts and relationships. With a vast mathematical content knowledge and pedagogical content knowledge educators can provide effective instruction to help children over come their difficulties. Developing a deep understanding of multiplicative thinking, fractions and decimals will assist children in later mathematics. To become a multiplicative thinker the ability to recall basic multiplication facts and understanding of the relationship between multiplication and division must be developed. If children do not develop the ability to recall basic multiplication facts they can be in danger of developing negative feelings towards mathematics and becoming withdrawn (Booker, Bond, ... • 24. Henry M Case Study Henry M. was a patient who underwent a radical brain surgery in hopes to cure his epilepsy, a brain disorder that causes episodes of seizures. Diagnosed at a young age, Henry suffered from numerous seizures, thus making it hard for him to live a normal life. • 27. Historical And Contemporary Of Ghetto Ghetto, the word so frequently and severely misused due to the lack of attention to its historical and social contexts. A word with a bevy of associations due to some of the characteristics of a ghetto. A ghetto arises partially due to the forced spatial enclosure of the group through de jure or de facto segregation, yet the enclosed group is ridiculed for something they have no control over. Effectively, the lack of information contributes to mindsets and behaviors that instill a prejudicial behavior against the affected group. As a means to deconstruct the definition of the word ghetto, four characteristics are attached to its makeup, stigma, constraint, spatial confinement, and institutional encasement (Wacquant). Although the ideology about ghettos are negative and irrefutably misinformed, the seclusion actually has the potential for cultural enrichment and the ability to minimize institutional discrimination. Due to the disentangling of race and race based discrimination from many policies in the twentieth century, the ghetto was dissolved back to the slums in principal. This essay will attempt to explain some of the historical and contemporary context of a ghetto, the components of a ghetto and how these meanings have modern applications. One of the earliest usages of the term ghetto can be seen when the Jews were forced to live in separate restricted districts to minimize any communication between Jews, Christian, and catholic individuals. • 28. Why I Want To Understand The Brain By Anne Sexton Sexton s poem allowed me to understand what it must feel like to live with a mental illness such as depression. I was quite frightened to find that Sexton constantly wanted to kill herself. Her confessional style of poetry allowed me to understand that this type of mental illness is a reality for people. The way in which Anne Sexton describes her desire for death, allowed me to understand the power depression held on her mind and body. The need to end her life must have meant that dying outweighed any need to live. Anne Sexton had two children and I am shocked she would abandon these two children for an escape from the world. I realised Sexton s drive to kill herself was greater than the love for her own family. Even though it was selfish of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. Auditing Standard No. 18 Auditing Standard No. 18, Related Parties The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board adopted a new auditing standard concerning related party transactions, significant unusual transactions, and a company s financial relationships and transactions with its executive officers (PCAOB Standard No. 18, 2014). The goal of these new regulations is to improve auditor performance requirements with regard to evaluating and responding to the risks of material misstatements associated with related parties (Cohn, SEC, 2014). Investors will benefit from these new adaptations to the auditing standards because the auditors will perform a more thorough examination of related parties resulting in a better understanding of these relations (Cohn, PCAOB, 2014). The old standards in these areas were seen to be insufficient by the Board. If action was not taken, the transactions with these close relationships could increase the risk of material misstatements in a company s financial statements. The new auditing standard and amendments we adopted today address transactions and relationships that have been contributing factors in a number of financial reporting frauds, said James R. Doty, PCAOB Chairman. Subjecting these areas to enhanced auditor scrutiny may help avert corporate failures and avoid harm to investors (PCAOB Standard No. 18, 2014). Doty also pointed out that Enron was brought down by related party transactions and a company, Dynegy, was almost destroyed by significant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
