The Annual Address starts off discussing the foundation of this nation. Into a few paragraphs, he
addresses the civil rights struggle and the reason behind it. About half of his speech address some
advice and suggestions for the future of the black people. Joseph Jackson writes the Annual Address,
telling the black people to put an action in their beliefs and for justice, in a way contradicting King s
perspective on peaceful protests. In page two, Jackson states, What is this struggle for civil rights? I
answer, it is an effort of American citizens to get full equality of opportunity. It is the resolution and
the determination that there shall be in these United States one class of citizens and that is first class

Contribution Of Marxist Historiography
Every point in history is an undeniable reaction to the events of the past. Marxist historiographical
thinking provides a method by which the world can interpret past and current events in an attempt to
evaluate and predict future struggle and resolution. Throughout the centuries never has there been a
greater need for Marxist dialectical methodologies in examining the past events than that of the 21st
century; as ideological tensions rise due to the transvaluation that western societies go through as a
result of post modernist thinking and the rejection of 18th and 20th Century Enlightenment and
Modernist values respectively. In an attempt to understand the role of Marxist historiography in the
21st Century one must first understand the fundamentals of Marx s prepositions and their relation to
Postmodernist thinking. Marxist historiography stems from class consciousness which concerns itself
with the inequality and injustices associated with the presence of a hierarchical class system.* It also
proposes in a dialectical light that human action and reaction comes out of materialist influences on
the subject, which in turn shapes the material world. That being said, the relevance of this historical
viewpoint cannot be understood without first getting a firm grasp of Hegel s theory of alienation;
