Mackenzie King Leadership
Unforgettable actions that will always be remembered in honour of Mackenzie King, which made him
such a great leader. In my opinion William Lyon Mackenzie King showed that he was an effective
leader through his duty of being Canada s 10th Prime Minister for 29 years. King made huge impacts
on many lives and both world wars in being Canada s best Prime Minister. Mackenzie King did many
effective actions throughout his years of being Prime Minister, however three events stood out the
most. King showed that he was an effective leader because he created crown corporations, had a
dream to start the British Commonwealth Air Training Program and created Unemployment Insurance
for people who needed it. Not only did he serve the longest time as Canada s Prime Minister but he
successfully affected many lives.
Firstly, Mackenzie King showed great leadership towards the people because of this dream of starting
the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan (BCATP). Mackenzie King was determined in 1939 to
have a dream which he believed was a sign of the power of the airplane in determining ultimate
victory . All over the country, Canadians decided to mobilized to take part in this event. In order to
take on this event an army of experts would have to be assembled, a development in airfields and
equipment, including airplanes. Between the years 1940 1945 there was 151 schools established and
thousands civilians that were members of the Royal Canadian Air Force, mainly the Women s division
trained and worked for BCATP facilities. By the end of the Second World War, the BCATP had
produced 131,553 aircrew, including pilots, wireless operators, air gunners, and navigators for the Air
Forces of Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. This all Started when Canada s
government realized it was an opportunity for them to make a significant commitment to the Allied
war efforts. The final agreement was made on December 17, 1939 and all countries that were involved
in this dream signed the papers, which listed the percentages of trainees they need to send, the cost
they would need to pay, schedule of training times. This all came to a close in March on the 31st 1945.
King was so confident in this dream he had envisioned that

George Gershwin Essay
George Gershwin was born Jacob Gershowitz on September 26, 1898 in Brooklyn, New York. George
began his professional career in quot;Tin Pan Alley, quot; a location in New York City where aspiring
composers and songwriters would bring their scores to a publisher trying to sell the tunes for cash.
Two years after he started work for Jerome Remick, George had his first song published. quot; When
You Want Em You Can t Get Em quot; was not an instantly famous, but it did begin to attract the
attention of some of the Broadway composers of the day. During this time of professional growth,
George kept his job as a rehearsal pianist and studied piano, theory and orchestration with the best of
the best. George s first big hit was a song ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Songs featured from these musicals include quot;Clap Yo Hands, quot; quot;Strike Up the Band quot;
and one which has enjoyed a recent resurgence in popularity, quot;Someone to Watch Over Me. quot;
Despite his success on Broadway, George decided to follow his success of Rhapsody in Blue with a
few more pieces for piano and orchestra as well as piano solo, including Concerto in F (1925),
Preludes for Piano (1926), and An American in Paris (1928). An American in Paris, which was written
after George took a trip to the French city, is a tone poem, which transports the listener to the streets of
Paris during the 1920 s. In efforts to paint a realistic portrait of the quot;City of Lights. quot; An
American in Paris represents the second most popular work for orchestra written by George. George
became one of America s first premier composers and his compositions are still used today by teachers
everywhere as examples of the American entrance to the musical world of Stravinsky, Chopin,
Beethoven, and Mozart.
When George started to forget portions of his compositions while performing them, his friends and
family encouraged him to see a physician. Doctors informed him that he had a brain tumor and
suggested emergency surgery. Unfortunately, George did not survive the surgery and died on July 11,

How Did Hillary Clinton Impact The World
You have to be true to yourself (BrainyQuote). This is a quote by Hillary Rodham Clinton, a very
important woman in the decade of the 1990s. Many events occurred in the 1990s that still impact the
entire world today.
One important public figure in the 1990s was Hillary Rodham Clinton. Hillary Clinton is a politician.
She is most well known for being the First Lady of the United States and Bill Clinton s wife. While
she was the First Lady, she brought attention to the issues of women and children. Over Clinton s time
in the political world, she has won various awards. These awards include the Freedom Medal,
Margaret Sanger Award, Arkansas Woman of the Year, Philippine Legion of Honor (Rob Nagel). She

These events of protest occurred in 1999. Protesters around the world gathered in places like Seattle,
India, and all over Europe p rallied against capitalism. At these events, people asked for a peaceful
change from capitalism to communism. Even though these places stayed capitalist, many people still
believe that there should be governments using the communist ways. Although these protests didn t
reach their goal, the debate is still fought over(Patricia Levy). In the 1990 s, an invention was created
that is now used in everyday life, The World Wide Web also known as the WWW. In the year of 1990,
Tim Berners Lee created the World Wide Web.It was invented in the United States and was later
released to the public in 1991. The World Wide Web has become very important and people could not
imagine a life without it. Overall, the World Wide Web has become very important to the world (Tim
Berners Lee). During the 1990 s Beanie Babies were all the craze for teenage girls. Within the first
three years after being released, more than 100 million Beanie Babies were sold. Beanie Babies were
stuffed animals with plastic beans given with names and birthdates. They mainly appealed to teenage
girls. Today, Beanie Babies aren t as popular as the used to be , but they are still bought all the time.

Hillary Clinton Is Not The Right Choice
Hillary Clinton
President of the United States, the highest office in our nation. A respected title, a praiseworthy title,
an honorable title, but some may ask why anyone would want to be President.
For the fame or power? Well, that is how most people think the candidate, Hillary Clinton, thinks of it.
Trump, Cruz, Kasich, Clinton, and Sanders are the remaining candidates still in the race for the
presidency. All candidates have their faults, but Hillary s biggest fault is how she is campaigning.
When people listen to her presidential campaigns, they are not hearing politics or how she is going to
improve our country; they are hearing Hillary attacking her competitors, trying to make her fellow
candidates look weak. Our President should not behave in that way, their actions reflects on us, the
people of the United States. Hillary Clinton is not the right choice to be our upcoming President of the
United States.
Hillary Rodham Clinton was born on October 26, 1947, she is the daughter of Hugh
Rodham, owner of a fabric store, and Dorothy Rodham, an uneducated stay at home mother.
Clinton is the oldest of her two brothers and grew up in Park Ridge, a suburb in Chicago, Illinois.
She did very well in school and wanted to make a change in children s rights, Clinton made her own
fundraisers, such as a small circus and sporting events, to benefit children living in poverty.
Clinton was a member of Student Council, Class President of her high school, a member of

Similarities Between The Gift And The Giver
The two tales focus on gratitude. The two tales are about the importance of giving to others and
showing appreciation for the gifts received.
The tale entitled The Gift And The Giver is based on giving a gift to others with nothing in return. In
this tale, there is a farmer that grows an apple with perfect color, shape, and shine. The farmer decides
to give this precious apple to the king. In the text, it states, that the king was surprised by the feeling
he got when he heard that the farmer didn t want anything in return. But there was a rich merchant that
wanted a gift from the king, so he offered the king his best horse. Then the king gave the merchant the
apple. This shows the reader, that the merchant was disappointed and that the

The Importance Of Personal Income Tax In Texas
I think personal income tax in Texas should not become adopted; I feel it is an immoral thing towards
the state. I am against this because taxing a person from their personal income tax may leave them
with less money to pay their bills with more responsibilities. The personal income tax is paid by
people with the money they earn, and it sounds like a corrupted way of taking away their hard earned
wages. It may feel as though we pay personal income tax, but it is not included in our income tax
system. Many people still have to pay federal income tax, because it revenues them in governing its
share over three federal income taxes like; Social Security, Medicare and Unemployment.

Taser Research Paper
Taser Misuse and Police Use of Force
Introduction
Officers endure about six months of training in the academy. After the academy they continue to train
yearly. Although they train yearly many do not have the training in dealing with people that have
mental health problems. Not being trained properly in the mental health can lead to the misuse of the
officer s weapons. Officers know who not to tase but sometimes have mishaps and tase people who
are pregnant. If needed officers tase people who are on drugs but people who are on drugs have a
much higher chance of death. The misuse of tasers by law enforcement can cause serious injury.
Officers need to be aware of who they tase and how much force they use.
Taser Misuse Tasers are a less lethal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is safer for the officer to use a taser against a combative suspect rather than using hand to hand
combat. Using hand to hand combat puts the officer and suspect at greater risk for potential injury.
Researchers conducted an analysis of 12 of the largest agencies on the east coast. The analysis
confirms that in those 12 agencies using a taser was safer than using hand to hand combat
(Bulman,2010). Tasers are safe when used on a healthy person. Although they are safe to use on health
person the officer has to follow the guidelines of the manufacture to ensure the safety of the people. If
the person is on stimulant drug while being tased it increases their chance of injury. Those stimulant
drugs include methamphetamine, crack, cocaine, ecstasy, and caffeine. Not all officers are trained to
tell what kind of drug a suspect is on just by the way they act. Officers are careful when dealing with
suspects who are on drugs but only are able to do so much before they have to use force to ensure their

The World Of North America
The continent of North America had been inhabited by native Indian cultures for centuries prior to
European expansion. The Indians had established their community systems around North and South
America including what is now the northern, southern and western United States. Despite their
existence in the Americas, Europeans countries still attempted to colonize the continent. While some
historians might have argued the arrival of Europeans meant a better, freer life for most if not all
people , this was primarily true for white Christian Europeans. Even though some colonists
experienced more political freedoms, these freedoms were very limited. In reality, economic freedom
was also limited for both Europeans and Indians; additionally, both groups suffered religious
persecution at the hands of the government and missionaries.
The rights given to Catholics and Quakers to serve in political positions were not allowed in England.
So, when the Europeans arrived to the new world, these new ideas were introduced. In 1680
Pennsylvania was founded by William Penn (46, Foner) and later promoted religious tolerance. This
soon promoted political freedoms ... all person who also profess to believe in Jesus Christ...shall be

around 1632, in Maryland ...the early colonists included a number of Catholic gentlemen and priests,
and Calvert appointed many Catholics to public office. (27,

Essay on The Hiking Trail of American Fork Canyon
The hiking trail begins with a pile of loose rocks, a talus slope, thanks to rocks that fall down one of
the walls of the American Fork Canyon. The walls of the American Fork Canyon were widened by
erosion. Many of the rocks are cracked. This is caused by the presence of vegetation. The trees and
other plants that grow in the rocky area dig their roots down deep into the rocks, causing cracking.
This is known as physical organic weathering. The valley of the American Fork Canyon has a V shape
when viewed from a distance. This is indicative of its age, meaning it is young and was never covered
over in ice, or glaciated. If this had occurred, the valley would have a U shape instead, and it would
mean that the valley is older. The tunnel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that the fault is created by angular fragments of rock caused by movement along the fault.
There are three caves, the Hansen cave, the Middle Cave, and the Timpanogos cave. There is a fault
line located right at the entrance of the Middle Cave. The minerals found most commonly in caves
everywhere are carbonite minerals, two of which, calcite and aragonite, are the two found in these
caves. Inside the caves, there are many different formations. There are 43 recorded formations, or
speleothems. One example is the stalactites found in Hansen cave that are 77 years old. Another
example is of the many helictites that have formed in Timpanogos cave. Helictites form from the
pulling of water through pores in the coverings of the walls. Calcite forms around the tiny openings
and water continues to fall through the straw like structure, which continues to form in the direction
the water is falling. Branches are formed on the helictites when a passage through one way closes or
clogs and the water is forced to find another exit. There is an area that is called Father Time s Jewel
Box. There is another formation that was just recently discovered and identified. It is known as
Christmas Tree Coral. There is also frostwork, which are thin spreads of aragonite crystals. Carbon
dioxide from a possible number of sources and rain combine and react to make carbonic acid. This
acid dissolves limestone, which causes any water

A380 Essay
The Airbus A380 is a double deck, wide body, four engine jet airliner manufactured by the European
corporation Airbus, a subsidiary of EADS. It is the largest passenger airliner in the world. Due to its
size, many airports had to modify and improve facilities to accommodate it. Designed to challenge
Boeing s monopoly in the large aircraft market, the A380 made its maiden flight on 27 April 2005 and
entered commercial service in October 2007 with Singapore Airlines. The aircraft was known as the
Airbus A3XX during much of its development, before receiving the A380 designation. The nickname

Revenge In The Tempest
Imagine someone embarrassing you in front an audience, what would you do? Normally in situations
like these, we would try and get back at them to feel what we ve felt.Instead of trying to get back at
them we should be able to forgive and forget because in reality it probably wasn t their
intentions.Forgiving someone is something that helps us in many ways. While some may argue that
vengeance teaches people their lesson, there is more value in forgiveness than vengeance because it
helps you with your well being, correlation, and makes you feel empowering. Some argue that
vengeance educates people on what they shouldn t do. In the play The Tempest written by William

The Clause And Other Clauses Of The Constitution
The vesting clause and other clauses of Article II of the Constitution vaguely define the powers and
duties of the President, allowing the presidential power to be flexible enough to adapt to times of
national emergency. Through the system of checks and balances, the president s immense powers are
limited. In Article II of the Constitution, the vesting clause and other clauses account, but poorly
describe, the powers, role in foreign policy, and duties of the president granting room for
interpretation and adaptation to national emergencies. The first sentence of Article II states The
executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America (U.S. Constitution. Art.
II). This designates the president the powers of the executive branch of government and the position as
the head of the cabinet and executive departments. The president also has the Power to grant
Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States (U.S. Constitution. Art. II). With the
exception of impeachment, the president has the power to grant postponement of punishment or

Recruitment Of A Female Nurse
In the North attempts were made to organize nurses and in June 1861 Dorothea Dix was put in charge
of recruiting nurses for military hospitals, first in Washington and later other areas. Dix, like the rest of
society, had some very strong ideas about what a nurse should and shouldn t be and in a document
dated July 14, 1862 she specified those ideas. No candidate for service in the Women s Department for
nursing in the military hospitals of the United States, will be received below the age of thirty five
years, (35) nor above fifty. Only women of strong health, not subjects of chronic disease, nor liable to
sudden illnesses, need apply. The duties of the station make large and continued demands on strength.

In the field there were no regular hospitals, nurses cared for injured soldiers in railway cars, tents,
open fields, and abandoned buildings. They were like soldiers, they ate the same food, slept in tents,
endured rough weather, and came under fire from the enemy. Nurse Clara Barton was nearly shot on
the battlefield, a bullet sliced through her shirt sleeve before hitting and killing the soldier she was
caring for. Many of these nurses risked their lives, the Sisters of Mercy were known to run out on the
battle field when bullets were still flying. Nursing, whether in the field or in hospitals, was not easy
and it took a toll physically and emotionally, periodic furloughs were common and some had to resign.
Writer Louisa May Alcott had to resign her nursing position after becoming sick, she contracted
typhoid fever. These strong women experienced horrible things, but many refused to give up and they
saved countless lives. Which seems fitting, the main reason that women became nurses was their
desire to help. Did women act as spies and smugglers? There was another group of women who put
their lives and in many cases their reputations at risk to help during the war. These women worked as
spies, smugglers, couriers, and guides. As in other areas, the exact number of women that served in

The Importance Of Access For Safe And Abundant Clean Water
Motivation Access to safe and abundant clean water is a foundational core that separates advanced
nations from underdeveloped nations across the globe. Countries with reliable infrastructure that
facilitates water security enjoy economic and social stability enabling health and prosperity for its
citizenry. Subsequently, vigilant safeguarding of the water supply is among the highest priorities for
developed nations. Climate change, technological advancements and the overall modernization of the
population present threats to water stability in the form of widespread drought, contaminated runoff
and deficient water management. The dramatic increase in the use of pharmaceuticals is one area of
specific concern for scientists charged with mitigating the effect of contaminants on the water supply.
Close to 70% of Americans take at least one prescription drug, and that number has been steadily
increasing over the past several decades1. With this high level of ingestion of both prescription and
over the counter medications, consideration of the total lifetime effect of pharmaceuticals in the
environment is paramount. After consumption or disposal of medications, the drugs typically accrue in
the water supply. Once in environmental waters, these potent chemicals can interact with aquatic life
or end up in human s drinking supply. Pharmaceutical Entry into the Environment The pharmaceutical
contamination of waters is first determined by the human interaction with

Everything comes from somewhere, said Luger. He finds that his passion for jazz music and Italian
American music can be easily interconnected since all music influences one another. One thing I
found interesting about Luger s music is that when I asked him to tell me more about the Italian music
that he plays, he corrected me, and stated that the music he plays should be referred to as Italian
American because Italian music has a broad range of styles. He said as much as he loves to play
instruments and sing, he is aware that he does not have an opera voice, which would allow him to sing
authentic Italian music. Classical Italian music is considered to be Opera. Opera was born in Italy in
1600 during the Italian Renaissance and by the late 16th century. Now, when thinking about Classical
Italian music, I think of one of the most famous Italian opera composers, Giuseppe Verdi (1813 1901).
Verdi s works are most noted for their emotional intensity, tuneful melodies, and dramatic
characterizations. Verdi transformed the Italian opera into a unified musical and dramatic entity. Verdi
composed over twenty eight operas. Macbeth, a performance by Verdi based off the work of William

Zenefits (Manjoo, 2015). Workable software was designed to substitute email and spreadsheets with a
modest way of marketing jobs, accepting applications, clarifying them, interviewing and hiring
experienced applicants. Glancing at qualified candidates and work effectively with your appointed
team on a podium that retains your records, communication, agenda, remarks and analytics in one
place ( Workable Hiring without Hassle , 2015). Zenefit software was created for smaller companies
to assist with their daily HR functions. The software is distributed free as an incentive, however if they
decide to purchase health coverage for their workers, Zenefits is then compensated for the cost of the

boss wanted to give a person a raise, she would manually type the new salary into the software, and it
would take care of the changes in all your personal information with every other service provider

to the customer s house wearing the new red shoes.
About a block from the house Ralph saw the two foot patrol cops step out of Alvord s Market. They
waited for him to pass then flowed behind him. Ralph was worried but talked himself down. He had
packaged the gin to look like bread and the house was just around the corner, besides he didn t
recognize them and they likely didn t recognize him. He got to the house and went through the gate
and around to the side door and knocked; no answer. He knocked again and stepped back to make sure
the cops had passed. They were standing just

The Role Of Jonas In The Giver
In The Giver, Jonas was a young man who was different from his others classmates as he had been
selected to be the new Receiver of Memory. This task was very challenging for Jonas at first because
it required plenty of hard work, dedication, and courage as well. Definitely, distant from being an
honor, it was a punishment for Jonas for being selected as the new Receiver. At the beginning of his
training with the Giver, he had problems adapting to his new lifestyle for three reasons. Jonas
renounced to his old activities, his responsibilities increased, and he couldn t talk to anyone about his
conversations with the Giver. Since Jonas was chosen to be a Receiver, he stopped doing certain
activities he used to do for fun that was part of his daily assignments. As Jonas spent most of his time
of training with the Giver, he had no longer had enough time to work as a volunteer. Before Jonas was
selected to be the new Receiver of Memory, he used to spend more time with his family and bathe the
elderly along with his friend Fiona. Your turn Larissa. I ll just start the water and then help you up.

together...I waited for you for a little while. But it was getting late, so I went home. (Lowry, 113).
Fiona waited for Jonas to end his conversations with the Giver; however, as the hours passed, she
knew he wouldn t spent time with her. Therefore, she preferred to leave him alone so Jonas could

Personal Finance Syllabus
Should all high schoolers take courses in personal finance?
#19, By: Creedance
ARTICLE 1: Yes, Education system overhaul should include a new emphasis on financial literacy.
This article was all for making personal finance instruction a top concern. It was all about how many
high schools are failing badly when it comes to teaching students about how to manage money and
only 17 states require high school students to take courses in personal finance. Nan J. Morrison
believes that for kids to be successful, they don t need to learn advanced ideas. However she believes,
students do need to know how to open a bank account and how much they need to save each month to
reach their goals, she said. They also should know how much money they will need to earn to pay
back the money they borrow. She believes that for kids to enter adulthood ready and prepared they
should have to take personal finance making them aware of how to open a bank account and many
other things you need to know to be a successful adult.

ARTICLE 2: No. Better we get back to basics. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He believes that making tougher requirements for teaching personal finance would be a waste of time
and money. The Programme for International Student Assessment measured students around the
world. In science, U.S. students now rank behind those of Vietnam, Slovenia, Portugal, South Korea
and 19 other nations. In reading skills, American students rank 24th, behind Ireland, Estonia, Macao,
and France. America s report card in math is awful. It ranks 39th, behind Russia, Spain, Poland and
Macao. Therefore he believes that making personal finance instruction a top concern would weaken

Super Ego Research Paper
Egos
Our ID ego is our wants and needs. If these needs and wants are not met we become a very tense
person. We get very anxious and upset because out wants and needs have not been met. There are
many things that can explain this. For example when people are hungry and in a line for food, they
could not be getting there wants and needs right away because they want that food now and cannot
wait another second for it. So instead of waiting to get to their table, they start stuffing their face right
away while they are in the line of food. On the other hand, when this really happens, most people have
respect and realize that everyone has their wants and needs in their life. So with respect they deal with
these things just as well as others do. For the person in a food line that is hungry can deal with this.
They could be at a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The super ego is about morals and judgement. It is about right and wrong, and our choice we make
because of what we think. The super ego is why we make certain decisions about certain things. For
example we know we can steal things from work, the store, friends and many other places and things.
With our super ego we know that stealing is wrong and so we then make the choice and choose not to
steal.
Defense mechanisms help get rid of unwanted feelings that we tend to get. They also make good
things feel better for a person. If your egos are too weak, you then tend to break with anxiety because
it becomes too much for you. There are many examples of defense mechanisms. There is denial.
People who smoke tend to have this a lot. They will not admit to themselves that smoking is bad for
them and their health, they are in denial about it. When
something is too much to handle they will deny it. There is also repression. This is where you keep
your threatening thought from being conscious. We get very large amounts of guilt from theses so we
use our ego defense to fight them off. There are many different defense mechanisms that we

Let There Be Light
Since the Razzo screening of this week consists of multiple movies. I would like to divide my
response into two parts. The first part focuses on the key qualities that make Let There Be Light such
an iconic documentary and also the source of its supression by the government. The second part
focuses on the experimental films: Meshes of the Afternoon, Fireworks, and Rose Hobart.
Let There Be Light stood out in the documentary genre firstly because of its reliance on unscripted
interviews. It is mentioned in the article that some thousand hours was spent on footage that would
meaningfully make up a 1 hour documentary. All of the interviews are exemplary of showing the
narrative the documentary was trying to convey: how war affected the soldier ... Show more content

Meshes of the Afternoon is the most visually appealing one. Mentioned in the article, the film has a
sort of rhythm that is symbolic in most of Deren s movies. It deals a lot with identities and
identifications, like the scene of multiple instances of the protagonist, or the scene with the hooded
man with a reflective face. Here, I interpreted the scene as that there were a lot of side to the
protagonist and the mirror is to reflect into self, which later on in the movie we can see that in the
reflection is the husband. Also dreamlike in narrative is Fireworks, which was basically considered to
be within the post war avant garde genre in the article. This short, primarily a comedy, has a lot of
sexual inuendos embeded into the visual coding. It portrays that the protagonist is in search for
fullfilment and sexual satisfaction within the depths of his conscience. The article mentioned about the
not so subtle imagery and symbolism in the film , with the aforementioned pyrotechnic phallus, the
river of milk standing in for semen . The third short is a montage, which is a brilliant one with
concentrated but dreamlike and open to interpretion narrative, with all the footage from East of
Borneo. Surrealism is achieved once the narrative of the East of Borneo, with all of its drama, is
stripped off to become something more mysterious and less revealing. And with the soundtrack, the
blue tint, the image of the solar eclipse and the

Analysing Benjamin Percy s Refresh, Refresh Essay
The Idolization of My Father
In Benjamin Percy¡¦s ¡§Refresh, Refresh¡¨ the boys develop into men while trying to become like their
fathers. They also want their fathers to be proud of them. Freud¡¦s psychoanalytical approach would
suggest that the boys are trying to step into the shoes of their fathers. His Oedipus Complex states that
the son must metaphorically kill his father, except the fathers in the story really do die, so the sons
step into their fathers¡¦ shoes by signing up for the war. In this essay I will show how the boys become
men while training themselves to be like their fathers, and using a psychoanalytical approach I will
show how the sons step into their fathers¡¦ shoes and how the thwarted Oedipus Complex has ... Show

Also when they fought they painted their faces with the camo grease that their fathers had left behind.
This shows that they wanted to feel the way their fathers felt at war, with painted faces for camouflage
as they fought almost how their fathers were fighting the Iraqis.
Another piece of significance is when Josh states that he could just hop on his bike and ride away
from it all. ¡§On this bike I could ride and ride and ride, away from here, up and over the Cascade,
through the Willamette Valley, until I reached the ocean, where the broad black backs of whales
regularly broke the surface of the water, and ever farther.¡¨ This shows how he could easily just run
away from everything that is happening. He¡¦s stating that he doesn¡¦t have to become a man yet and
could just have fun and live free. He doesn¡¦t do this though; he just wants us to know that he can.
This shows that he is ready to become a man just like his father.
¡§He drank too much beer and smoked too many cigarettes and spent too much time with his buddies,
fishing, hunting, bullshitting.¡¨ Over the course of the story the boys imitate these actions of their
fathers. After every boxing match they would smoke cigarettes. In November they went hunting, and
smoked cigarettes, drank beers and bullshitted just like their fathers did. Gordon even acted like a
soldier in the woods and wore his father¡¦s overlarge

Analyzing Climate Change
Climate change has become one of the most important issues on the global political agenda. This is
largely due to the fact that the developments that influence climate change also impact the way in
which life is conducted at local, regional, national, and global level.
The present paper aims to analyze climate change from a general perspective with due consideration
for aspects that eventually define climate change as an essential challenge as well as for humanity in
its entirety and for the individual as a single element of society.
The first part of the research provides background information on what climate change is, what are its
most important constituent elements, and what are its implications. Climate change represents in
essence a global challenge that can only be tackled at the global level. This is why it is important to
consider the views and perspectives of global organizations such as the United Nations, through the
United Nations Environment Program among other organisms under the coordination of the United
Nations. Climate change has been at the center of vivid debates in recent decades particularly because
it affects all strata of human life, from food supplies to education, health, and sustainable
development. Its complex impact on human life makes climate change an all the more important
aspect to be taken into account by policy makers, world leaders, and decision takers around the world.
The second part of the research focuses on the initiatives

Corporate Responsibility Of The Sarbanes Oxley Act
It is clear that the bringing about of the Sarbanes Oxley Act followed up one of the rougher times in
US corporate history. The public downfall of the large companies like Enron and WorldCom damaged
any trust in US corporations and it cost investors many billions of dollars. It even led to the
destruction of one of the largest accounting firms in the US, Arthur Anderson. Sarbanes Oxley Act
was the response that the government gave in hopes that by mandating that companies report honest,
accurate, and valuable financial records, it will renew investor s trust in public corporations (Stults,
Gregg). To grasp how Sarbanes Oxley affects information security, looking into two key sections can
be very insightful. Section 302, Corporate responsibility for financial reports , and section 404,
Management assessment of internal controls. Section 302 discusses the requirement of both the Chief
Financial Officer and the Chief Executive Officer must personally approve and certify the accuracy of
financial reports. They are also required to inspect and assess the effectiveness of internal operations
as it pertains to financial reporting. This is the section the clearly places the weight of honest and
accurate financial records on the shoulders of senior level management, clearly stating that Chief
Financial Officers and Chief Executive Officers can now face criminal charges (The Sarbanes Oxley
Act 2002). Section 404 talks about how a corporation must report all of its assessments

Endangered Species Essay
Richard Nixon once said, Nothing is more priceless and worthy of preservation than the rich array of
animal life with which our country has been blessed. The world is full of a wide variety of animal and
plants. On the other hand, some of that variety is endangered. The definition of an endangered species
is a species that is at a critical risk of extinction. Not only can different species be endangered, they
can also be categorized into six major categories which are; vulnerable, endangered, critically
endangered, and extinct in the wild. The IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) is
one of the main resources for the categorization of these species. The Genus name is Macaca silenus
and it is a part of the endangered species category. This lion tailed macaque is endangered because of
deforestation of their habitat. It is estimated that there are less than one thousand individuals
remaining in their habitats in India. During the last few decades there has been a dramatic decrease.
This species has declined due to habitat fragmentation (Singh). This form of deforestation is caused
because of the major increase in agriculture in the Indian mountains. While deforestation is the leading
cause in their endangered status, it is not the only reason. Over the years there has been an increase in
shelters and safe zones for this species, but will their population continue to decrease? lion tailed
macaque is also called the Wanderoo, which is the common name, is a primate that spends most of
their lifespan in the trees of the Western Ghats mountain range in three southern states in India. Which
are, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. This species can weigh up to twenty two pounds and can
reach the length of twenty four inches long when in adulthood (IUCN). They have a dark black slim
body with a lighter area with a grey silvery fur that hangs down surrounding the face. They receive the
name the lion tailed macaque because of their tail, which is long tuft and slender. The lion tailed
macaque is considered the most endangered and smallest group of the species the macaque monkey.
Monkeys of this species type only live in small family groups of three to four which usually are
composed of a female, her

Emollient Agents Make Our Skin Smoother Essay
Emollients
Emollients are agents that soften and make the skin smoother. They are also called moisturizers.
Emollients are used for dry skin or eczema. When a moisturizer is applied to skin, it covers the skin
with a protective layer that reduces the amount of water loss in the skin and prevents dryness.
Emollients also prevent the skin form itching and eczema from flaring up.
Are emollients, emulsifiers, and lotions polar or non polar?
Most lotions contain oil or other non polar ingredients. They also contain large quantities of water
which is polar. The oil in the lotion is emulsified so it can be mixed with the water. But, both
ingredients still remain in the lotion which makes it both polar and non polar. Emulsifiers are used to

Many people buy lotions thinking that it has special ingredients that will help moisturize their skin,
but in fact water is the widely held ingredient in hand lotions.
Oil: oil is another important ingredient in hand lotions. Some lotions use liquid oils and others use
solid oils or butters. Avocado, coconut, Shea, and olive oils are some of the most popular oils used in
lotions.
Glycerin: it is also known as a humectant. It attracts moisture from the air to the skin and it is also
used as a lubricant to make the lotion smooth.
Citric acid: this is used as a preservative to prevent the other ingredients from spoiling. Citric acid also
helps lower the PH of the lotion and it makes it more suitable for the different skin types.
Other ingredients that are used are scents, color, etc.
How do hand lotions work?
When hand lotion is applied, it creates a barrier on the skin that prevents the oils from escaping and
does not allow any harmful substance to enter the skin that can cause dryness or irritation. It also
blocks water from leaving the skin and attracts water, this helps to maintain moisture in the skin.
The purpose of hand lotions
There are hand creams designed for different purposes. Most people use hand lotions for dry skin,
usually in the winter time. Lotions soften the hand and it looks more visually appealing. Some people
use lotions because they have eczema, and lotion prevents it from flaring up. Others may use

Introduction
Ventria is a biotechnology firm that developed a process to produce pharmaceutical proteins in the
seeds of rice (Lawrence amp; Weber, 2011). Ventria was a small start up company that received
funding from venture capital. Ventria believed that its first product would be well received since it was
a medicine that would lessen the severity of diarrhea in children (Lawrence amp; Weber, 2011). Plant
made medicines could be developed much cheaper than using mammalian or microbial cell cultures.

Social Well being
The implication of non compliance to the social well being is extremely great. If a biotech company
has a product that is needed by humans then non compliance could delay or terminate this product
before it can do any public good. Compliance on the other had will allow the company to produce
many worthwhile products that may lessen human suffering and provide a safer, healthier society.
Recommendations
Ventria should consider the following recommendations to help ensure their future success. 1. Seek
additional private sector funding 2. Initiate safe, non environmentally threatening products that can
come to market relatively sooner than other projects. 3. Realign goals and objectives to fit more with
what will appeal to investors 4. Design an internal quality assurance team that would have standards
as high as regulatory agencies.
Ventria must not allow initial setbacks in the early years of their existence to dictate their future
success. Many companies do not usually succeed after only two years (Lawrence amp; Weber, 2011).
They must allow the network of industry organization serve as mentors and partners to get them to the
next level of research and later success.

The Components of Mishel’s Uncertainty of Illness Theory...
BACKGROUND
Mishel s Uncertainty of Illness Theory is a middle range theory (Black, 2014). This means the theory
is not overly broad or narrow. The theory was developed from studying men with prostate cancer who
were watchfully waiting for the advancing signs of their disease (Black, 2014). The theory has three
main components, which incorporate: the antecedents of uncertainty, impaired cognitive appraisal, and
coping with uncertainty in illness (Neville, 2003). The antecedents of Mishel s theory are the stimulus
frame, cognitive capacities and event congruence (Neville, 2003). The stimulus frame concerns three
parts including: symptom pattern, event familiarity and event congruency (Neville, 2003). Symptom
pattern may be when symptoms of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This study is based on uncertainty management intervention (UMI) treatment option. The candidates
for the study were men who are 65 and older with a low stage and grade prostate disease. The UMI
study used a system of nursing telephone follow up care to help patients with their psychosocial and
educational disease needs (Kazer, Whittemore, Baily, 2010). The nursing intervention with the patients
focused on helping the patients examine illness related events and restructure their beliefs... to
incorporate uncertainty into a new life view. (Kazer, Whittemore Baily, 2010) The nursing
intervention s goal was to create a cognitive plan from events that are uncertain and use the plan to
change their view of the uncontrollable situation presented to them.
Miho Suzuki s study aimed to explore the relationships between uncertainty and the quality of life in
patients with head and neck cancer in pre and post treatment periods. Suzuki intended to discover
whether patients with head and neck cancer experience less uncertainty when they think they are able
to express their concerns to their doctor. Also, Suzuki wanted to assess if the patients experienced less
uncertainty when involved with treatment decision making and sufficient information about
symptoms. Suzuki used a prospective correlational

  • 2. Mackenzie King Leadership Unforgettable actions that will always be remembered in honour of Mackenzie King, which made him such a great leader. In my opinion William Lyon Mackenzie King showed that he was an effective leader through his duty of being Canada s 10th Prime Minister for 29 years. King made huge impacts on many lives and both world wars in being Canada s best Prime Minister. Mackenzie King did many effective actions throughout his years of being Prime Minister, however three events stood out the most. King showed that he was an effective leader because he created crown corporations, had a dream to start the British Commonwealth Air Training Program and created Unemployment Insurance for people who needed it. Not only did he serve the longest time as Canada s Prime Minister but he successfully affected many lives. Firstly, Mackenzie King showed great leadership towards the people because of this dream of starting the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan (BCATP). Mackenzie King was determined in 1939 to have a dream which he believed was a sign of the power of the airplane in determining ultimate victory . All over the country, Canadians decided to mobilized to take part in this event. In order to take on this event an army of experts would have to be assembled, a development in airfields and equipment, including airplanes. Between the years 1940 1945 there was 151 schools established and thousands civilians that were members of the Royal Canadian Air Force, mainly the Women s division trained and worked for BCATP facilities. By the end of the Second World War, the BCATP had produced 131,553 aircrew, including pilots, wireless operators, air gunners, and navigators for the Air Forces of Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. This all Started when Canada s government realized it was an opportunity for them to make a significant commitment to the Allied war efforts. The final agreement was made on December 17, 1939 and all countries that were involved in this dream signed the papers, which listed the percentages of trainees they need to send, the cost they would need to pay, schedule of training times. This all came to a close in March on the 31st 1945. King was so confident in this dream he had envisioned that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. George Gershwin Essay George Gershwin was born Jacob Gershowitz on September 26, 1898 in Brooklyn, New York. George began his professional career in quot;Tin Pan Alley, quot; a location in New York City where aspiring composers and songwriters would bring their scores to a publisher trying to sell the tunes for cash. Two years after he started work for Jerome Remick, George had his first song published. quot; When You Want Em You Can t Get Em quot; was not an instantly famous, but it did begin to attract the attention of some of the Broadway composers of the day. During this time of professional growth, George kept his job as a rehearsal pianist and studied piano, theory and orchestration with the best of the best. George s first big hit was a song ... Songs featured from these musicals include quot;Clap Yo Hands, quot; quot;Strike Up the Band quot; and one which has enjoyed a recent resurgence in popularity, quot;Someone to Watch Over Me. quot; Despite his success on Broadway, George decided to follow his success of Rhapsody in Blue with a few more pieces for piano and orchestra as well as piano solo, including Concerto in F (1925), Preludes for Piano (1926), and An American in Paris (1928). An American in Paris, which was written after George took a trip to the French city, is a tone poem, which transports the listener to the streets of Paris during the 1920 s. In efforts to paint a realistic portrait of the quot;City of Lights. quot; An American in Paris represents the second most popular work for orchestra written by George. George became one of America s first premier composers and his compositions are still used today by teachers everywhere as examples of the American entrance to the musical world of Stravinsky, Chopin, Beethoven, and Mozart. When George started to forget portions of his compositions while performing them, his friends and family encouraged him to see a physician. Doctors informed him that he had a brain tumor and suggested emergency surgery. Unfortunately, George did not survive the surgery and died on July 11, 1937 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Protesters around the world gathered in places like Seattle, India, and all over Europe p rallied against capitalism. At these events, people asked for a peaceful change from capitalism to communism. Even though these places stayed capitalist, many people still believe that there should be governments using the communist ways. • 5. Hillary Clinton Is Not The Right Choice Hillary Clinton President of the United States, the highest office in our nation. A respected title, a praiseworthy title, an honorable title, but some may ask why anyone would want to be President. For the fame or power? Well, that is how most people think the candidate, Hillary Clinton, thinks of it. Trump, Cruz, Kasich, Clinton, and Sanders are the remaining candidates still in the race for the presidency. All candidates have their faults, but Hillary s biggest fault is how she is campaigning. When people listen to her presidential campaigns, they are not hearing politics or how she is going to improve our country; they are hearing Hillary attacking her competitors, trying to make her fellow candidates look weak. Our President should not behave in that way, their actions reflects on us, the people of the United States. Hillary Clinton is not the right choice to be our upcoming President of the United States. Hillary Rodham Clinton was born on October 26, 1947, she is the daughter of Hugh Rodham, owner of a fabric store, and Dorothy Rodham, an uneducated stay at home mother. Clinton is the oldest of her two brothers and grew up in Park Ridge, a suburb in Chicago, Illinois. • 7. The Importance Of Personal Income Tax In Texas I think personal income tax in Texas should not become adopted; I feel it is an immoral thing towards the state. I am against this because taxing a person from their personal income tax may leave them with less money to pay their bills with more responsibilities. The personal income tax is paid by people with the money they earn, and it sounds like a corrupted way of taking away their hard earned wages. It may feel as though we pay personal income tax, but it is not included in our income tax system. Many people still have to pay federal income tax, because it revenues them in governing its share over three federal income taxes like; Social Security, Medicare and Unemployment. Although they train yearly many do not have the training in dealing with people that have mental health problems. Not being trained properly in the mental health can lead to the misuse of the officer s weapons. Officers know who not to tase but sometimes have mishaps and tase people who are pregnant. If needed officers tase people who are on drugs but people who are on drugs have a much higher chance of death. The misuse of tasers by law enforcement can cause serious injury. It is safer for the officer to use a taser against a combative suspect rather than using hand to hand combat. Using hand to hand combat puts the officer and suspect at greater risk for potential injury. Researchers conducted an analysis of 12 of the largest agencies on the east coast. The analysis confirms that in those 12 agencies using a taser was safer than using hand to hand combat (Bulman,2010). Tasers are safe when used on a healthy person. Although they are safe to use on health person the officer has to follow the guidelines of the manufacture to ensure the safety of the people. • 9. The World Of North America The continent of North America had been inhabited by native Indian cultures for centuries prior to European expansion. The Indians had established their community systems around North and South America including what is now the northern, southern and western United States. Despite their existence in the Americas, Europeans countries still attempted to colonize the continent. While some historians might have argued the arrival of Europeans meant a better, freer life for most if not all people , this was primarily true for white Christian Europeans. Even though some colonists experienced more political freedoms, these freedoms were very limited. In reality, economic freedom was also limited for both Europeans and Indians; additionally, both groups suffered religious persecution at the hands of the government and missionaries. The rights given to Catholics and Quakers to serve in political positions were not allowed in England. So, when the Europeans arrived to the new world, these new ideas were introduced. In 1680 Pennsylvania was founded by William Penn (46, Foner) and later promoted religious tolerance. This soon promoted political freedoms ... all person who also profess to believe in Jesus Christ...shall be capable...to serve this Government in any capacity, both legislatively and executively. • 10. Essay on The Hiking Trail of American Fork Canyon The hiking trail begins with a pile of loose rocks, a talus slope, thanks to rocks that fall down one of the walls of the American Fork Canyon. The walls of the American Fork Canyon were widened by erosion. Many of the rocks are cracked. This is caused by the presence of vegetation. The trees and other plants that grow in the rocky area dig their roots down deep into the rocks, causing cracking. This is known as physical organic weathering. The valley of the American Fork Canyon has a V shape when viewed from a distance. This is indicative of its age, meaning it is young and was never covered over in ice, or glaciated. If this had occurred, the valley would have a U shape instead, and it would mean that the valley is older. The tunnel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This means that the fault is created by angular fragments of rock caused by movement along the fault. There are three caves, the Hansen cave, the Middle Cave, and the Timpanogos cave. The minerals found most commonly in caves everywhere are carbonite minerals, two of which, calcite and aragonite, are the two found in these caves. Inside the caves, there are many different formations. There are 43 recorded formations, or speleothems. One example is the stalactites found in Hansen cave that are 77 years old. Another example is of the many helictites that have formed in Timpanogos cave. Helictites form from the pulling of water through pores in the coverings of the walls. Calcite forms around the tiny openings and water continues to fall through the straw like structure, which continues to form in the direction the water is falling. Branches are formed on the helictites when a passage through one way closes or clogs and the water is forced to find another exit. There is an area that is called Father Time s Jewel Box. There is another formation that was just recently discovered and identified. It is known as Christmas Tree Coral. There is also frostwork, which are thin spreads of aragonite crystals. The Clause And Other Clauses Of The Constitution The vesting clause and other clauses of Article II of the Constitution vaguely define the powers and duties of the President, allowing the presidential power to be flexible enough to adapt to times of national emergency. Through the system of checks and balances, the president s immense powers are limited. In Article II of the Constitution, the vesting clause and other clauses account, but poorly describe, the powers, role in foreign policy, and duties of the president granting room for interpretation and adaptation to national emergencies. The first sentence of Article II states The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America (U.S. Constitution. Art. II). This designates the president the powers of the executive branch of government and the position as the head of the cabinet and executive departments. In the field there were no regular hospitals, nurses cared for injured soldiers in railway cars, tents, open fields, and abandoned buildings. They were like soldiers, they ate the same food, slept in tents, endured rough weather, and came under fire from the enemy. Nurse Clara Barton was nearly shot on the battlefield, a bullet sliced through her shirt sleeve before hitting and killing the soldier she was caring for. Many of these nurses risked their lives, the Sisters of Mercy were known to run out on the battle field when bullets were still flying. These strong women experienced horrible things, but many refused to give up and they saved countless lives. Which seems fitting, the main reason that women became nurses was their desire to help. The Importance Of Access For Safe And Abundant Clean Water Motivation Access to safe and abundant clean water is a foundational core that separates advanced nations from underdeveloped nations across the globe. Countries with reliable infrastructure that facilitates water security enjoy economic and social stability enabling health and prosperity for its citizenry. Subsequently, vigilant safeguarding of the water supply is among the highest priorities for developed nations. Climate change, technological advancements and the overall modernization of the population present threats to water stability in the form of widespread drought, contaminated runoff and deficient water management. The dramatic increase in the use of pharmaceuticals is one area of specific concern for scientists charged with mitigating the effect of contaminants on the water supply. Close to 70% of Americans take at least one prescription drug, and that number has been steadily increasing over the past several decades1. With this high level of ingestion of both prescription and over the counter medications, consideration of the total lifetime effect of pharmaceuticals in the environment is paramount. Here, I interpreted the scene as that there were a lot of side to the protagonist and the mirror is to reflect into self, which later on in the movie we can see that in the reflection is the husband. Also dreamlike in narrative is Fireworks, which was basically considered to be within the post war avant garde genre in the article. This short, primarily a comedy, has a lot of sexual inuendos embeded into the visual coding. It portrays that the protagonist is in search for fullfilment and sexual satisfaction within the depths of his conscience. The article mentioned about the not so subtle imagery and symbolism in the film , with the aforementioned pyrotechnic phallus, the river of milk standing in for semen . The third short is a montage, which is a brilliant one with concentrated but dreamlike and open to interpretion narrative, with all the footage from East of Borneo. This means the theory is not overly broad or narrow. The theory was developed from studying men with prostate cancer who were watchfully waiting for the advancing signs of their disease (Black, 2014).
