Descriptive Essay On Ballet Slippers
The young, fashionable man contrasted starkly against other High Ground patrons, who were nearly
all dressed casually. However, this casual clothing took different forms; from the woman in the casual
dress to the outdoorsy looking man, there were many variations on casual wear. For example, there
was one young woman in the line who was wearing the same shorts and a tee combination as many
other patrons. Hanging off the back of her backpack were a pair of pink leather shoes, soft and supple,
with worn pads on the bottom where the material was gathered in from the top. They were hooked
onto her backpack with a carabiner through the criss crossed elastic bands which pulled the two sides
of the shoe together. Through iconic reasoning, I recognized them as ballet slippers. This lead me to
assume that this young woman was a dancer, coming from or going to class or rehearsal. This
indexical assumption was based on my recognizing the ballet slippers and understanding what ballet
slippers are generally used for, as well as knowing that rarely, if ever, someone would hang a pair of
well used ballet slippers off of their backpack as a sort of fashion statement. After mentally cataloging
the woman in the summer dress, the hiker, the fashionable young man, and now the ballerina based on
clothes and accessories, I tried to find a sign that was not clothing. I noticed the young woman at the
table next to mine, who was industriously typing away on her laptop, referring every now and

Of Michaelangelo Merisi Da Caravaggio s Young Sick Bacchus
Wine and Rome have an intertwined history, both developing and expanding together. Wine is an
integral part of Italian daily life, it was even consumed regularly in ancient times and was a staple of
social life. Viticulture began as early as 1200 BC and continued to grow into what it is today
(Lorenzo). Therefore, wine is just as old as Rome itself. Throughout Rome s history, it is clear that
wine plays an important role in art and in daily social life. It is integral to understand the importance
of wine in order to grasp the basics of Roman daily life as it was thousands of years ago. In art, wine
is depicted in various ways either through gods, grapes, symbols, or quite simply, a cup of wine. In
Michaelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio s painting created in 1594 entitled Young Sick Bacchus, wine is
portrayed through the representation of the Roman god of wine, Bacchus (also referred to as
Dionysus) (Aronson). Young Sick Bacchus demonstrates how important wine was due to the fact that
it is being represented through a god with an interesting history and religion that can be explored, and
it also gives a glimpse into the history of Italy s most renowned artist, Caravaggio. This paper will
discuss the appeal and importance of the painting due to its portrayal of ... Show more content on

Although originally Greek and called Dionysus, Bacchus was important in Roman society. Bacchus
was the god of wine and ecstasy and was worshipped as early as 13th century BC ( Dionysus ).
Bacchus was the son of Zeus and Semele, one of Zeus s mistresses, who was a mortal ( Dionysus ). To
prove his love, Semele requested that Zeus reveal his true form and upon complying, Semele exploded
because Zeus s power was too great to handle. Bacchus, who was still in his mother s womb at the
time, was saved by Zeus and was sewn into his thigh until he was ready to be reborn

Edward s Life Had Been Perfect
Edward slowly stalked out of the dark, dusty cell. A guard lay motionless next to the open door, his
throat slit and his face drained of color. He had been trapped in the tiny room for months and he was
finally free. He inhaled deeply, taking in the ancient, musty air. The corridor that contained his cell
was dark, damp, and humid. There were streaks of red along the walls, most likely due to the massive
iron deposits above his underground prison. Edward took all of this in as he crept through the unlit
hallway, a small, jagged piece of bloody glass in hand. Seven years ago, Edward s life had been
perfect. He was healthy, rich, and respected. Many people looked up to him and he had no enemies. At
least, he thought that he had no enemies. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His captors hadn t told him anything about where they were going and how long it would take. If he
remained like this, he would go insane. Hey, he demanded, how far away are we from the jail? One of
his kidnappers calmly replied, You had better not say anything else. Otherwise, my friend here will
gladly put a lead bullet into your privileged little skull. The rest of the car ride was dead silent.
Eventually, the car slowly came to a halt. He heard the 2 men in the front of the car shift in their seats.
Hey, he said, what are you Edward heard a dull thud and was knocked backward. The last things he
could remember were feeling a sharp, stinging pain in the front of his skull and slowly losing
consciousness. When he awoke, Edward noticed a throbbing pain in his head. He couldn t see
anything, thanks to the blindfold, and couldn t say anything due to the gag. His hands were tied behind
his back, his arms were bound with rope, and his feet were lashed together. His body was completely
immobilized. Behind him, Edward could hear some men whispering and metal scraping against the
floor. He strained to hear what they were discussing until his blindfold was removed. His eyes were
immediately blinded by the sudden reintroduction to the light and he instinctively shut them. When
they readjusted, Edward s eyes saw an extraordinary sight; he was in what appeared to be an
underground city. His captors severed the rope

General Electric And Transformation Of Company
This case study follows General Electric, and the transformation that company made over two decades
of business. General Electric was founded in 1878 by Thomas Edison, and according to the case study,
[GE] grew from its early focus on the generation, distribution, and use of electric power to become, a
hundred years later, one of the world s leading diversified industrial companies (Wozny, 2005, p.1).
General Electric grew its name in business through their work in power generation, lighting, and
household appliances. The case study also mentions that General Electric worked with aircraft
engines, medical systems, and diesel motors. GE was a company that was constantly changing and
adapting. It was in the 1950s, that the company had delegated work to hundreds of managers for
different departments of the company. In 1973 a new CEO came up the ranks of the company, Reg
Jones inherited the company and started a complete reorganization. According to the case study, Reg
Jones started by
overlaying its 10 groups, 46 divisions, and 190 departments were 43 strategic business units designed
to support the strategic planning that was so central to GE s management process. Jones raised
strategic planning to an art form, and GE again became the benchmark for hundreds of companies that
imitated its SBU based structure and its sophisticated planning processes. Soon, however, Jones was
unable to keep up with reviewing and approving the massive volumes of information generated by 43

Randomized Control Study
Randomized control trials are considered the gold standard for evaluating medical interventions and
there are numerous variations that can be applied to the study design. The cluster randomized
crossover design is one such variation and has been gaining popularity in trial settings when individual
randomization is not possible (1). In order to investigate the effectiveness of advanced access booking
compared to traditional booking at reducing average wait times for seeking and receiving an
appointment a cluster crossover RCT should be used. The study population will consist of the 70% of
family practices in the Sydney area of Cape Breton that have previously agreed to participate. Clusters
will be assigned at the clinic level, as it is

The Political System Of Alexander II
Alexander II also established trial by jury, relinquishing authority to a judicial system independent of
the the autocracy. However, the influence of socialism had spread to St. Petersburg intellectuals from
Germany and France, and Constitutionalism was seen as insufficient. The importance of political
system became less important, as concerns over social and economic forces moved to the forefront.
Socialism seemed appealing to Westernizers due to the application of modern European thought, while
traditionalists saw it as a return to the old Russian populist values.
The rift between the aristocracy and the general public had become completely unbridgeable. The
intelligentsia and nobility had grown to hate one another, each feeling as though the survival of Russia
depended on the destruction of the other. On March 1, 1881, after seven other attempts, Alexander II
was assassinated. Ironically, the most liberal Tsar of the century had become the primary target of
radical revolutionaries, and was killed mere hours after approving the Loris Melikov reform which
established a national representative body. Before his death, he asked that he be taken to die in the
Winter Palace. Due to the death of Alexander II, Alexander III devoted his thirteen year rule to
quashing any rebellion toward the autocracy. He instituted a police state, and revoked the Loris
Melikov reform. He refused to live in the Winter Palace, as he found it to be too stark and cold.
Instead, he took residence

Theme Of The Illustrated Man
The Illustrated Man, a science fiction novel written by Ray Bradbury, reaches the first publication in
1951, post World War II society and a current Cold War environment. The time period and
characteristics of World War II, the Cold War, and foreshadowing of the Civil Rights Movement serve
as important influences for Bradbury s subject and themes of the novel. Recurring ideas of censorship,
technology, justice, and largely death, exist in events and fears of the day. Leading all themes to tie
into an allegorical warning Bradbury directs to an audience of American youth, fearful of nuclear war
with the Soviet Union, artist in Hollywood during the age of McCarthyism, or anyone fearful of a

The subject of Lespere s accomplishments are nothing special or moral, multiple wives on multiple
planets, but it gives a meaning to Lespere, that Hollis fails to find in his own life, and for that reason
Hollis s reaction speaks of sadness and jealousy. These memories and feelings of achievement comfort
Lespere in death, and the lack of those same feelings leave Hollis broken and fearful. Bradbury takes
the time to generalize the characterization of Hollis in this manner, shaping the inner conflict of the
rocket man s death. With the radio out of reach, Bradbury expounds upon Hollis internal conflicts,
Hollis questions if there is, anything I can do now to make up for a terrible and empty life [...] a good
thing (39). Drifting alone in space, with an ultimate end of burning up in the atmosphere, fear of pain
does not overwhelm him, but the lack of meaning in life causes him a more daunting and permanent
perception on death. The obvious internal struggle of Hollis, is Bradbury s way of communicating this
in a thematic way. Ultimately, Hollis discovers that his death appears like a meteor, and desires that it
will provide joy for somebody. That pleases him, because he dies with a purpose after not living with
one. Bradbury conveys the struggle of Hollis death through the amount of struggle and internal
conflict he faces prior to his death, the desires he expresses

George S Patton And Odysseus From The Odyssey
The sun is just setting over the men of the Third Army. They are overtaking one of the most prized
Nazi strongholds, Metz. These men who will wage war within the hour are heroes in their own right
but the hero they all look up to is their general, George S. Patton. He truly is the hero of this theatre of
war. These, and all heroes, look at danger as little more than an obstacle to overpass. General George
S Patton and Odysseus from The Odyssey, by Homer, are both heroes. They reached fame at very
different times but they both exhibited the same qualities and abilities that allowed them to overcome
any and every challenge thrown at them. Patton fought Nazis in North Africa and Western Europe,
Odysseus battled Cyclops and other beasts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He would not have been called a coward if he walked away from those odds. He didnt walk away. He
stood and fought with his son and they prevailed. He decided that his home and his family were worth
the risk. Patton, as a general in WWII, knew that each man under his control was worth it. He told
them that, Each man has a purpose in my army and each man before me will be expected to fulfill that
duty (O Reilly.14). Patton did more than just inspire his men from a concealed hideout, far from the
danger of the front lines, he also journeyed in his Willy Jeep to the front lines to guide the assault. He
was a high value target and escaped death on numerous occasions but he maintained his composure on
these ever increasing excursions. When leaving the front lines he would find soldiers and make a point
of, placing his hand on their shoulder, looking them in the eyes and saying, Don t disappoint me
soldier. (O Reilly.15). He expected a lot of his men just as Odysseus did as evidenced by his
disappointment when members of his crew became disloyal and even acted as cowards when faced
with challenges.. Odysseus himself did great things but he expected to be a role model to his men as
well. When in a grim situation, a hero needs to remain composed to allow for his wisdom and strategic
mindset to come through and save the day as displayed by both Odysseus and Patton. Odysseus was
trapped in a cave with a stone, that no group of men could move, separating him from the

Pietas In Homer s Metamorphoses
Pietas is the duty to your family but more importantly it is the duty to the community you are in
Ancient Rome. In ancient Rome there is a large emphasis on serving for your community. In Ancient
Greece, an individual wanted Kleos for your own benefit. The opposite was wanted in Ancient Rome,
an individual wanted to serve their community and make sure all the people and the community was
taken care of. It can also be described as a persons respect for the natural order socially, politically,
and religiously. This includes the ideas of patriotism and devotions to others. In book four of
Metamorphoses, Pietas is challenged by the stories told by the three daughters of minyas while they
are weaving. All three of the stories told are love stories with unhappy endings. The first ... Show

Pyramus and Thisbe fall in love and are forced to run away to be together because their fathers do not
approve. The story of these two ends when Pyramus kills himself because he believes the lioness
killed Thisbe but that was not the case. Thisbe then returns and then sees Pyramus dead and she
proceeds to kill herself also. This story complicates pietas because first they ran away which is not an
act to help the community but more of a selfish act. Also, with both of them killing themselves, they
are doing a disservice to their family. The second story told was another love story about Venus, the
goddess of love, and Mars, the god of war. The sun, who can see everything that is going on on earth,
saw the two together and the sun told Vulcan who is Venus s husband. This story continues with all
different people trying to get revenge on each other and then finally ends with Leucothoe, who is the
daughter of the king of Persia, being buried alive by her father once he figures out she is not a virgin
anymore. This story complicates pietas because it shows many people

Comparing Tyram-James Rumble Fish And The Outsiders
Things are rough all over. S.E Hinton quoted in her book The Outsiders . Rumble Fish and The
Outsiders are both very similar books. Although there are many differences. Some major differences
between the main characters, Rusty James and Ponyboy, are love, strength, and confidence.
In both books, Rusty James and Ponyboy look up to and love their brothers greatly, but they reveal
their love separately. Rusty James expresses his love by trying to act just like his brother, Motorcycle
Boy. In other words, he acts cool, tough, and tries to be a leader. Ponyboy and his brothers bond is so
great that Ponyboy doesn t need to show much more love unlike Rusty James and Motorcycle Boy.

Maria, Tony, Anita, Riff, Bernardo, Jets and Sharks
In this number, all the participants talk about the eventful evening they feel is ahead, each with their
own thoughts on what will happen.
There are three trains of thought:
1 Riff and Bernardo thinking (in terms of their own gangs) of the fight arranged for later that evening
2 Anita thinking about her nocturnal activities with Bernardo after the fight
3 Tony and Maria more romantic love, idealised, though Tony has to agree with Riff, in exasperation,

The Life Of Lise Meitner
The Life of Lise Meitner
In the beginning of the life of one of the most significant female scientist to date, there was obscurity.
Born in Vienna, Austria on November 7th of 1878 during turmoil of war and persecution that would
seem to not cease throughout her life, she was bound to surpass her limitations as a necessity to
prosper the scientific status. Born the third child out of eight in a Jewish family, she still was not one
to go unnoticed or to be persuaded, as a strong minded individual tends to be. At the time of her birth,
her family was fairly wealthy, and though of Jewish background, did not practice the religious beliefs
of the Jewish heritage. This meant that although she was Austrian in nationality, her ancestors
practiced the Jewish way of life, yet it was not as discernable in Meitner or her direct family. Her
mother Hedwig Skovran, a musician, was not well known but of enough skill to continue the
occupation, while her father, Philipp Meitner, was a lawyer and a master of chess. Her siblings, much
like her parents, grew up to be detached from the Jewish culture, which would lead them towards
Christianity during a time of maltreatment of those of Jewish features or religion. This change of
religious beliefs would be reflected in Meitner as well in 1908 at the age of thirty as she converted to
the Lutheran church. This change of religious practice would not make a difference after the rise of
Hitler, which catalyzed the already present disfavor towards the

Each ghost marks an important step in Scrooge s journey towards being a better person. Explain

learns and masters all the teaches his professors have to give him. Victor becomes intrigued with the

Myth Of The Jezebel Myth
During the early 1500s and throughout the early 1900s, slavery was committed by white men, against
African Americans in order to maintain white supremacy. Slavery consisted of farming, working hard
labor, and turning African Americans into servant by their white owners. Enslaved African Americans
would not receive any form of money for hard labor because black men and women were thought of
as property. Black enslaved and freed men and women were also raped by both white men and
women, because white people believed that black people were hypersexual. Many white men believed
that it was impossible to rape a black woman because the belief was that black women were inherently
rapeable (Block 141).
One of the myths that reflected the belief that black women were inherently rapeable was the Jezebel
myth. When white men first visited Africa, they noticed that black women wore little to no clothes
because of the hot African heat, therefore created the believe that all black women were sexually
submissive (29). Deborah White states that white men believed that... [black women] invited sexual
overtures from white men, and that any resistance they displayed was mere feigning. (30). This is how
the Jezebel myth came into play. Jezebel was characterized as the opposite of the mid nineteenth
Victorian lady and were defined as sexual beings (29). By creating a believe that black enslaved
women wanted to be raped by white men not only created a sense of power to white men but it was

A Diagnosis for Mr. Fix-it
Mr. Fix it is a 59 year old man with a history of alcohol abuse and diabetic hypertension. Mr. Fix it has
been currently experiencing symptoms such as: rambling speech, poor short term memory, weakness
on the left side of his body, neglects both visual and auditory stimuli to his left side, difficulty with
rapid visual scanning, difficulty with complex visual, perceptual and constructional tasks, unable to
recall nonverbal materials, and mild articulatory problems. The diagnosis for Mr. Fix it s problem is
most likely a right hemisphere stroke. A right hemisphere stroke is occurs when a blood clot blocks a
vessel in the brain, or when there is a torn vessel bleeding into the brain. A right hemisphere stroke is
common in adults who have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Broca s area gives an individual the motor ability to speak. Damage to this area may cause an
individual to have difficulty speaking. For instance, not only does Mr. Fix it demonstrate incoherent
speech, he also has a mild articulatory problem, in which it would be difficult for the patient to say
certain words or say it in an unusual accent.
This type of symptom is very common in people who have suffered from a right hemisphere stroke.
Since the frontal lobe is also responsible for the ability to sequence tasks successfully, damage to this
lobe has caused the patient with difficulty to execute constructional tasks. For example, Mr. Fix it may
have difficulty in things such as building a bike or putting pieces of a puzzle together, in which the
patient can possibly now have constructional apraxia due to the stroke taking place in the right
hemisphere. Because the patient has suffered damage from a right hemisphere stroke; he has
experienced paresis to the left side of the body. Right sided hemiparesis causes injury to the left side
of the brain, in which its functions include the ability of language and speaking ( Hemiparesis , 2011).
The damage that occurred on the right hemisphere may cause Mr. Fix it, to have acute balance on the
left side of his body, in which it may be difficult for the patient to perform everyday tasks, such as,
putting on his clothes. Furthermore, due to weakness on the left side of the body the

I know all of my past lives now so there s more than Ash thinks I know, but I not going to tell her that

Peter Pan Motherhood
The novel Peter Pan by J. M. Barrie illustrates how Peter Pan, an aggressive
adolescent, attempts the abduction of younger male children in order to bring them to his
magical island called Neverland. These young males then serve him and serve on
expeditions and as soldiers in a youthful gang. In an unusual phenomenon, Mr. Pan brings
Wendy, a young female, to his island in order that she might tell him and his lost boys about
the tale of Cinderella and to be their mother. In chapter 6, readers observe that Peter Pan is
extremely protective of Wendy, even to the point of staying awake on guard at night. At the
finally of the book, Peter then promises to bring Wendy back to Neverland, promising to

tuck us in at night, [said he] And you could darn our clothes and make pockets for us. None
of us has any pockets. (42). Peter emphasis that the boys need a mother to work for them.
However, Peter himself is too slothful to learn how to sew and too proud to tuck his own
children into bed. Mr. Pan s selfishness controls his actions which then influence his
compassion. In these minute instances, we can see his true character and his true adoration
show. Towards the end of the novel, Peter returns only once to Wendy after she left
Neverland. This may be because he has realized that she no longer cares to serve him as
she once did. She will no longer be his mother, rather a friend. This does not please him, and
he returns once after, to steal Jean, Wendy s daughter, as a new mother. Peter Pan s
ignorance and cruel leadership is a sign that he does not care for Wendy as a person, rather
as a product or as something to aid him. Mr. Pan sees Wendy beneficial for story telling, for
being his mother, and for serving him. In Peter Pan, readers are shown the cruelty that an
innocent child can impact upon a multitude of fellow

The Ancient Civilizations of Central and South America Essay
The Ancient Civilizations of Central and South America
Central and South America was once home to some of the ancient world s most magnificent and
glorious civilizations. The Incas, Aztecs, and Mayas were just three of these civilizations. These
civilizations ruled the area for many years, and flourished greatly in their own different ways. They
were the cause for much advancement in arts, architecture, politics, religion, and society in the world.
These civilizations created pyramids, temples, and monuments in honor of their gods and rulers. Their
people proved to be intellectually advanced, and they were able to successfully create calendars,
alphabets, and predict solar eclipses. They all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They began as a tribe of nomads and hunter gatherers. They were not used to settling and living in one
area for many years, and so it was after a few years that they began to form permanent settlements. At
this time the Aztecs were not even near being a major empire, as their arrival in the region had
absolutely no impact on the other tribes that were already settled there. It took many hundreds of years
for the Aztecs to make a strong hold in Central America. As this process took place they started to
grow as a tribe and made more enemies. Many battles were fought with their neighboring tribes, and
the Aztecs had to flee to the islet located on Lake Texcoco. It was there, as an island city, that
Tenochititlan was first built by the Aztec tribe and made their capital city. Overtime it matured into
their largest city as well.[1]
The city of Tenochititlan went through many hardships, and many wars. But, in the end the Aztec
people prevailed and finally began to show their true colors with the makings of a unique civilization
and culture that would dominate the Americas for many years. This showed great resilience on their
part, and proved to people that they would fight for their survival against anyone.¹
Tenochititlan was situated perfectly for farming and agriculture. The city was surrounded by about
five rivers, and every year these rivers would flood and the soil was

Questions On Religion And Religion Essay
1. Orthodoxy is placing the importance on correct belief rather than correct practice. An example of
this would be Christianity where to be a disciple there are certain beliefs that aren t optional. These
beliefs include the Trinity, Jesus as the Son of God, and the Resurrection.
2. Orthopraxy is placing the importance on correct practice rather than correct belief. An example of
this would be Judaism where the acts you do hold great value. These practices include Shabbat and
keeping the Sabbath. The practice of keeping kosher is stricter within Orthodox Judaism than within
Conservative or Reform Judaism but all three fall under orthopraxy.
3. Polytheism is the belief in more than one god whereas monotheism is the belief in only one god.
There are many examples of polytheistic religions such as Druids (Àr nDraíocht Féin or the Order of
Bards, Ovates, Druids) which cover multiple pantheons depending on which culture you focus on.
Druidry mainly covers the Celtic or Norse pantheons but can cover the Egyptian, Roman, or Greek
pantheons as well as encompassing Native American gods.
4. The two types of agnostic are weak and strong agnosticism. While one is unsure of whether or not
there s a god, the other believes that god is unknowable. Both believe in the possibility of a god, but
they differ on whether or not they believe they can find and know said god.

World Change Wednesday
This year in my Sports and Entertainment Marketing class, my teacher has given my class an
astonishing amount of freedom. Every Wednesday that I have the class, I am allowed to research a
topic of my choosing just as long as I am not already an aficionado on the subject. Apparently many
other schools around the nation are doing this as well. It is called Genius Hour or World Change
Wednesday, and it is challenging me to think about learning in a different way.
When I was first given the assignment, I had no idea what I was supposed to do. I found myself
getting increasingly more frustrated as I came into class. The most important question that I kept
asking myself was what do I care about? My school is on block scheduling so I only have a
Wednesday class every other week which gave me plenty of time to think. The problem was that I just
had no idea what to research. Finally, the answer fell into my lap while I was listening to the music on
my Ipod. I am an avid Billy Joel enthusiast and have at least ten of his songs readily available in my
music library. We Didn t Start the Fire started to play, and I was singing along when it hit me. Why not

Food Stamp Program Research Paper
Recommendation: White House budget proposal for the U.S. Department of Agriculture Supplemental
Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The administration wants to slash the program by 30 percent,
which is about 2 percent of the Federal Budget. Under the proposal SNAP recipients would lose much
of their ability to choose the food they buy with their SNAP benefits because in lieu of that they will
receive a monthly box of food. The proposed plan would be in enacted in 2019. It would require
approval from Congress before any significant changes are made.
Overview of the SNAP program in the U.S.
The U.S. Dept. of Agriculture oversees the program, but the Food and Nutrition Service runs the
actual SNAP program. The program was implemented with the sole purpose of giving nutrition
assistance to millions of Americans that are eligible. It provides families and low income individuals
with a voucher to buy food in turn provides economic benefits in the local communities. So, it s a win
win situation all the way you look at it. The program is the largest of its kind and provides a hunger ...

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the implications of healthcare reform in the United States and
specifically, Ohio. The impact of healthcare reform in Ohio will be discussed with distinct focus

In Ohio, the financial aspects of ACA implementation are numerous. A large amount of Ohioans
received an average tax credit of $244 per month while about half that number, 41% of enrollees, were
able to secure insurance for $100 or less (United States of America, 2015). One million dollars was
received in research grants for Marketplace innovation and improvement and funds that were
originally spent on salaries and marketing were diverted to care improvement through the 80/20 rule
(United States of America, 2015). Large amounts of funds were made available to combat premium
increases which have saved approximately one billion dollars nationally (United States of America,
2015). Over $217 million has been made available for primary care services in community health
settings with an additional $33 million ear marked for prevention and public health needs (United
States of America, 2015). I believe this feature will have the greatest impact on health in Ohio.
Increased funding for community projects naturally leads to increased preventative measures and
decreased health care costs overall. Close to $235 million was saved in prescription costs by those
enrolled in Ohio Medicare through the closure of the medication coverage gap (United States of
America, 2015). This results in an average saving of $980 per

Difference Between Fishbein And Ajzen s Theory Of Behaviour
According to Ajzen s (1991) theory models, behavior is depend to the behavioral intention. There are
three factors which influence the behavioral intention, which are the attitude towards behavior,
subjective norms and perceived behavior control. Attitudes are a complete mental state involving
belief, feelings, values and temperament to act in certain ways. A subjective norm is the sanctions of
certain behavior of one or more individuals about their perception and the extent how the behavior
will mould up the perception. Perceived behavioral control refers to an individual s perception
regarding the extent of control he or she has over a particular behavior. According to Fishbein and
Ajzen (1975), the rating by an individual for an event will be either positive or negative. This
evaluation can affect an individual s attitude. Furthermore, Bobek (1997) expressed that attitude of an

Culture has many definitions, and it affects everything people do in their society because of their
ideas, values, attitudes, and normative or expected patterns of behaviour. Culture is not genetically
inherited, and cannot exist on its own, but is always shared by members of a society (Hall 1976, p.
16). Hofstede (1980, pp. 21 23) defines culture as the collective programming of the mind which
distinguishes the members of one group from another , which is passed from generation to generation,
it is changing all the time because each generation adds something of its own before passing it on. The
social capital literature has shown that socially held beliefs can shape not only collective actions but
government and economic performance (North 1981; Knack and Keefer, 1997; Landes, 1998; La
Porta et al., 1999; Putnam, 1993). Indeed, La Porta et al. (1999:223) argued that some societies are so

An Evaluation Of The Economic Benefits And Ethical Issues...
Working Title
Population control: an evaluation of the economic benefits and ethical issues of population control
through the use of eugenics
Background
The topic of population has been prevalent in the study of economics but particularly since Thomas
Malthus published his book Essay on the Principle of Population (1798). Malthus was the first
economist to propose a systematic theory of population. Malthus proposed in his book that humans
grow exponentially whereas the food supply grows at an arithmetic rate. This scenario of arithmetic
food growth with simultaneous geometric human population growth predicted a future when humans
would have no resources to survive on. To avoid such a catastrophe, Malthus urged controls on
population growth.
Economically there are two approaches to the debate on how much the human population can grow.
One debate is the natural science approach which is adopted by biologists, chemists and physicists.
The natural science approach stands by the fundamental idea that earths capacity to supply is fixed
and human population is constrained by physical limits and of scarce natural resources. They state that
human biological requirements don t change. For example; everyone on the planet today needs 2000
2500 calories per day to be healthy, this is the same amount of calories our ancestors would have
needed 1000 years ago, however, the earth is now vastly more populated than 1000 years ago,
consequentially, there will come a time when there

Is Walden Still Relevant
Is Walden still relevant?
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and
see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.
This quote by Thoreau shows the way he wanted to live, deliberately, people need a purpose it s how
we work, therefore Walden is relevant. Even though Walden is redundant and Thoreau is believed to
be hypocritical, and he didn t isolate himself as it seems in the memoir. Walden is more relevant than
ever, because the core idea is that by living frugally and naturally, you can have more time to spend as
you like with purpose. Simplicity allows us to have a richer life.
Thoreau existed simply ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Without a purpose, live would be empty. One can t live deliberately, the way Thoreau wanted to live.
To live deliberately in the way Thoreau wrote about was to spend time simply observing with a
purpose, even if to extend one s knowledge. Life s purpose depends on the person, Thoreau states that
he doesn t expect everyone to fall into his step. Many say Walden is redundant and Thoreau is
believed to be hypocritical, and he didn t isolate himself as it seems in the memoir. Yes, Thoreau may
have been condescending, scolding, and judgmental, but these traits don t reflect on the quality of
Thoreau s writing. Reading Walden isn t for everyone, nor is Thoreau s lifestyle. Thoreau writes as
though he lived in the middle of nowhere while he truly lived a half an hour walk from the town.
Conversely this idea of isolation Thoreau portrays for himself doesn t dispute the ideas and philosophy
in Walden .
In conclusion, Walden is more relevant than ever. Thoreau lived simple unmaterialistic existence as he
stayed at Walden Pond, for he believed the material wealth lead to spiritual downfalls. The ideas of
purposeful living and the living amongst nature is still prevalent to this day. Thoreau wrote of nature,
and how he coexisted with it, learned from it. Observing nature gave Thoreau a purpose while he was
at Walden Pond. Through living simply and unmaterialistic one can live life to the

  • 2. Descriptive Essay On Ballet Slippers The young, fashionable man contrasted starkly against other High Ground patrons, who were nearly all dressed casually. However, this casual clothing took different forms; from the woman in the casual dress to the outdoorsy looking man, there were many variations on casual wear. For example, there was one young woman in the line who was wearing the same shorts and a tee combination as many other patrons. Hanging off the back of her backpack were a pair of pink leather shoes, soft and supple, with worn pads on the bottom where the material was gathered in from the top. They were hooked onto her backpack with a carabiner through the criss crossed elastic bands which pulled the two sides of the shoe together. Through iconic reasoning, I recognized them as ballet slippers. This lead me to assume that this young woman was a dancer, coming from or going to class or rehearsal. This indexical assumption was based on my recognizing the ballet slippers and understanding what ballet slippers are generally used for, as well as knowing that rarely, if ever, someone would hang a pair of well used ballet slippers off of their backpack as a sort of fashion statement. After mentally cataloging the woman in the summer dress, the hiker, the fashionable young man, and now the ballerina based on clothes and accessories, I tried to find a sign that was not clothing. I noticed the young woman at the table next to mine, who was industriously typing away on her laptop, referring every now and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Of Michaelangelo Merisi Da Caravaggio s Young Sick Bacchus Wine and Rome have an intertwined history, both developing and expanding together. Wine is an integral part of Italian daily life, it was even consumed regularly in ancient times and was a staple of social life. Viticulture began as early as 1200 BC and continued to grow into what it is today (Lorenzo). Therefore, wine is just as old as Rome itself. Throughout Rome s history, it is clear that wine plays an important role in art and in daily social life. It is integral to understand the importance of wine in order to grasp the basics of Roman daily life as it was thousands of years ago. In art, wine is depicted in various ways either through gods, grapes, symbols, or quite simply, a cup of wine. In Michaelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio s painting created in 1594 entitled Young Sick Bacchus, wine is portrayed through the representation of the Roman god of wine, Bacchus (also referred to as Dionysus) (Aronson). Young Sick Bacchus demonstrates how important wine was due to the fact that it is being represented through a god with an interesting history and religion that can be explored, and it also gives a glimpse into the history of Italy s most renowned artist, Caravaggio. This paper will discuss the appeal and importance of the painting due to its portrayal of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although originally Greek and called Dionysus, Bacchus was important in Roman society. Bacchus was the god of wine and ecstasy and was worshipped as early as 13th century BC ( Dionysus ). To prove his love, Semele requested that Zeus reveal his true form and upon complying, Semele exploded because Zeus s power was too great to handle. • 4. Edward s Life Had Been Perfect Edward slowly stalked out of the dark, dusty cell. A guard lay motionless next to the open door, his throat slit and his face drained of color. He had been trapped in the tiny room for months and he was finally free. He inhaled deeply, taking in the ancient, musty air. The corridor that contained his cell was dark, damp, and humid. There were streaks of red along the walls, most likely due to the massive iron deposits above his underground prison. Edward took all of this in as he crept through the unlit hallway, a small, jagged piece of bloody glass in hand. Seven years ago, Edward s life had been perfect. He was healthy, rich, and respected. Many people looked up to him and he had no enemies. At least, he thought that he had no enemies. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His captors hadn t told him anything about where they were going and how long it would take. If he remained like this, he would go insane. Hey, he demanded, how far away are we from the jail? One of his kidnappers calmly replied, You had better not say anything else. Otherwise, my friend here will gladly put a lead bullet into your privileged little skull. The rest of the car ride was dead silent. Eventually, the car slowly came to a halt. He heard the 2 men in the front of the car shift in their seats. Hey, he said, what are you Edward heard a dull thud and was knocked backward. The last things he could remember were feeling a sharp, stinging pain in the front of his skull and slowly losing consciousness. When he awoke, Edward noticed a throbbing pain in his head. He couldn t see anything, thanks to the blindfold, and couldn t say anything due to the gag. His hands were tied behind his back, his arms were bound with rope, and his feet were lashed together. His body was completely immobilized. Behind him, Edward could hear some men whispering and metal scraping against the floor. He strained to hear what they were discussing until his blindfold was removed. His eyes were immediately blinded by the sudden reintroduction to the light and he instinctively shut them. When they readjusted, Edward s eyes saw an extraordinary sight; he was in what appeared to be an underground city. His captors severed the rope ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. General Electric And Transformation Of Company This case study follows General Electric, and the transformation that company made over two decades of business. General Electric was founded in 1878 by Thomas Edison, and according to the case study, [GE] grew from its early focus on the generation, distribution, and use of electric power to become, a hundred years later, one of the world s leading diversified industrial companies (Wozny, 2005, p.1). General Electric grew its name in business through their work in power generation, lighting, and household appliances. The case study also mentions that General Electric worked with aircraft engines, medical systems, and diesel motors. GE was a company that was constantly changing and adapting. It was in the 1950s, that the company had delegated work to hundreds of managers for different departments of the company. In 1973 a new CEO came up the ranks of the company, Reg Jones inherited the company and started a complete reorganization. According to the case study, Reg Jones started by overlaying its 10 groups, 46 divisions, and 190 departments were 43 strategic business units designed to support the strategic planning that was so central to GE s management process. Jones raised strategic planning to an art form, and GE again became the benchmark for hundreds of companies that imitated its SBU based structure and its sophisticated planning processes. Soon, however, Jones was unable to keep up with reviewing and approving the massive volumes of information generated by 43 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Randomized Control Study Randomized control trials are considered the gold standard for evaluating medical interventions and there are numerous variations that can be applied to the study design. The cluster randomized crossover design is one such variation and has been gaining popularity in trial settings when individual randomization is not possible (1). In order to investigate the effectiveness of advanced access booking compared to traditional booking at reducing average wait times for seeking and receiving an appointment a cluster crossover RCT should be used. The study population will consist of the 70% of family practices in the Sydney area of Cape Breton that have previously agreed to participate. • 7. The Political System Of Alexander II Alexander II also established trial by jury, relinquishing authority to a judicial system independent of the the autocracy. However, the influence of socialism had spread to St. Petersburg intellectuals from Germany and France, and Constitutionalism was seen as insufficient. The importance of political system became less important, as concerns over social and economic forces moved to the forefront. Socialism seemed appealing to Westernizers due to the application of modern European thought, while traditionalists saw it as a return to the old Russian populist values. The rift between the aristocracy and the general public had become completely unbridgeable. The intelligentsia and nobility had grown to hate one another, each feeling as though the survival of Russia depended on the destruction of the other. On March 1, 1881, after seven other attempts, Alexander II was assassinated. Ironically, the most liberal Tsar of the century had become the primary target of radical revolutionaries, and was killed mere hours after approving the Loris Melikov reform which established a national representative body. Before his death, he asked that he be taken to die in the Winter Palace. Due to the death of Alexander II, Alexander III devoted his thirteen year rule to quashing any rebellion toward the autocracy. He instituted a police state, and revoked the Loris Melikov reform. He refused to live in the Winter Palace, as he found it to be too stark and cold. Instead, he took residence ... • 8. Theme Of The Illustrated Man The Illustrated Man, a science fiction novel written by Ray Bradbury, reaches the first publication in 1951, post World War II society and a current Cold War environment. The time period and characteristics of World War II, the Cold War, and foreshadowing of the Civil Rights Movement serve as important influences for Bradbury s subject and themes of the novel. Recurring ideas of censorship, technology, justice, and largely death, exist in events and fears of the day. Leading all themes to tie into an allegorical warning Bradbury directs to an audience of American youth, fearful of nuclear war with the Soviet Union, artist in Hollywood during the age of McCarthyism, or anyone fearful of a relevant issue, such as, the possibilities of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The subject of Lespere s accomplishments are nothing special or moral, multiple wives on multiple planets, but it gives a meaning to Lespere, that Hollis fails to find in his own life, and for that reason Hollis s reaction speaks of sadness and jealousy. These memories and feelings of achievement comfort Lespere in death, and the lack of those same feelings leave Hollis broken and fearful. Bradbury takes the time to generalize the characterization of Hollis in this manner, shaping the inner conflict of the rocket man s death. With the radio out of reach, Bradbury expounds upon Hollis internal conflicts, Hollis questions if there is, anything I can do now to make up for a terrible and empty life [...] a good thing (39). Drifting alone in space, with an ultimate end of burning up in the atmosphere, fear of pain does not overwhelm him, but the lack of meaning in life causes him a more daunting and permanent perception on death. The obvious internal struggle of Hollis, is Bradbury s way of communicating this in a thematic way. Ultimately, Hollis discovers that his death appears like a meteor, and desires that it will provide joy for somebody. That pleases him, because he dies with a purpose after not living with one. Bradbury conveys the struggle of Hollis death through the amount of struggle and internal conflict he faces prior to his death, the desires he expresses ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. George S Patton And Odysseus From The Odyssey The sun is just setting over the men of the Third Army. They are overtaking one of the most prized Nazi strongholds, Metz. These men who will wage war within the hour are heroes in their own right but the hero they all look up to is their general, George S. Patton. He truly is the hero of this theatre of war. These, and all heroes, look at danger as little more than an obstacle to overpass. General George S Patton and Odysseus from The Odyssey, by Homer, are both heroes. They reached fame at very different times but they both exhibited the same qualities and abilities that allowed them to overcome any and every challenge thrown at them. Patton fought Nazis in North Africa and Western Europe, Odysseus battled Cyclops and other beasts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He would not have been called a coward if he walked away from those odds. He didnt walk away. He stood and fought with his son and they prevailed. He decided that his home and his family were worth the risk. Patton, as a general in WWII, knew that each man under his control was worth it. He told them that, Each man has a purpose in my army and each man before me will be expected to fulfill that duty (O Reilly.14). Patton did more than just inspire his men from a concealed hideout, far from the danger of the front lines, he also journeyed in his Willy Jeep to the front lines to guide the assault. He was a high value target and escaped death on numerous occasions but he maintained his composure on these ever increasing excursions. When leaving the front lines he would find soldiers and make a point of, placing his hand on their shoulder, looking them in the eyes and saying, Don t disappoint me soldier. (O Reilly.15). He expected a lot of his men just as Odysseus did as evidenced by his disappointment when members of his crew became disloyal and even acted as cowards when faced with challenges.. Odysseus himself did great things but he expected to be a role model to his men as well. When in a grim situation, a hero needs to remain composed to allow for his wisdom and strategic mindset to come through and save the day as displayed by both Odysseus and Patton. • 10. Pietas In Homer s Metamorphoses Pietas is the duty to your family but more importantly it is the duty to the community you are in Ancient Rome. In ancient Rome there is a large emphasis on serving for your community. In Ancient Greece, an individual wanted Kleos for your own benefit. The opposite was wanted in Ancient Rome, an individual wanted to serve their community and make sure all the people and the community was taken care of. It can also be described as a persons respect for the natural order socially, politically, and religiously. This includes the ideas of patriotism and devotions to others. In book four of Metamorphoses, Pietas is challenged by the stories told by the three daughters of minyas while they are weaving. All three of the stories told are love stories with unhappy endings. The story of these two ends when Pyramus kills himself because he believes the lioness killed Thisbe but that was not the case. This story complicates pietas because first they ran away which is not an act to help the community but more of a selfish act. Also, with both of them killing themselves, they are doing a disservice to their family. The second story told was another love story about Venus, the goddess of love, and Mars, the god of war. The sun, who can see everything that is going on on earth, saw the two together and the sun told Vulcan who is Venus s husband. This story continues with all different people trying to get revenge on each other and then finally ends with Leucothoe, who is the daughter of the king of Persia, being buried alive by her father once he figures out she is not a virgin anymore. In both books, Rusty James and Ponyboy look up to and love their brothers greatly, but they reveal their love separately. Rusty James expresses his love by trying to act just like his brother, Motorcycle Boy. In other words, he acts cool, tough, and tries to be a leader. There are three trains of thought: 1 Riff and Bernardo thinking (in terms of their own gangs) of the fight arranged for later that evening 2 Anita thinking about her nocturnal activities with Bernardo after the fight 3 Tony and Maria more romantic love, idealised, though Tony has to agree with Riff, in exasperation, to be present at the fight Each group/individual states their case with their own line (Anita s is related to Riff/Bernardo but adapted) and then the different melodic lines are ... • 14. The Life Of Lise Meitner The Life of Lise Meitner In the beginning of the life of one of the most significant female scientist to date, there was obscurity. Born in Vienna, Austria on November 7th of 1878 during turmoil of war and persecution that would seem to not cease throughout her life, she was bound to surpass her limitations as a necessity to prosper the scientific status. Born the third child out of eight in a Jewish family, she still was not one to go unnoticed or to be persuaded, as a strong minded individual tends to be. At the time of her birth, her family was fairly wealthy, and though of Jewish background, did not practice the religious beliefs of the Jewish heritage. This meant that although she was Austrian in nationality, her ancestors practiced the Jewish way of life, yet it was not as discernable in Meitner or her direct family. Her mother Hedwig Skovran, a musician, was not well known but of enough skill to continue the occupation, while her father, Philipp Meitner, was a lawyer and a master of chess. Her siblings, much like her parents, grew up to be detached from the Jewish culture, which would lead them towards Christianity during a time of maltreatment of those of Jewish features or religion. This change of religious beliefs would be reflected in Meitner as well in 1908 at the age of thirty as she converted to the Lutheran church. This change of religious practice would not make a difference after the rise of Hitler, which catalyzed the already present disfavor towards the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Explain In Dickens five stave novella each ghost in A Christmas Carol contributes to the final redemption of his journey to becoming a better person. The ghosts take Scrooge on a journey, physically, taking him to visit important aspects of his past, present and future and these journeys metaphorically empathy enlightenment that he needs to change into a more humane person. The five staves outline how he grows as a person, and eventually redeems himself. Scrooge seemed uneasy in his mind; It is here that Scrooge begins to regret the way he treats Fans only son, Scrooges only nephew and become remorseful for rejecting him from his life. We then are introduced to Scrooges old place of work where he was apprenticed by Old Fezziwig. Scrooge is reminded of the way he was treated by his employer. He was respected and was respectful towards him, and the example of Old Fezziwig demonstrates how Scrooge is the exact opposite. This was an example of what a good employer can be, and he wishes to speak to his clerk. Slavery consisted of farming, working hard labor, and turning African Americans into servant by their white owners. Enslaved African Americans would not receive any form of money for hard labor because black men and women were thought of as property. Black enslaved and freed men and women were also raped by both white men and women, because white people believed that black people were hypersexual. Many white men believed that it was impossible to rape a black woman because the belief was that black women were inherently rapeable (Block 141). One of the myths that reflected the belief that black women were inherently rapeable was the Jezebel myth. When white men first visited Africa, they noticed that black women wore little to no clothes because of the hot African heat, therefore created the believe that all black women were sexually submissive (29). Deborah White states that white men believed that... [black women] invited sexual overtures from white men, and that any resistance they displayed was mere feigning. (30). This is how the Jezebel myth came into play. Jezebel was characterized as the opposite of the mid nineteenth Victorian lady and were defined as sexual beings (29). Working Title Population control: an evaluation of the economic benefits and ethical issues of population control through the use of eugenics Background The topic of population has been prevalent in the study of economics but particularly since Thomas Malthus published his book Essay on the Principle of Population (1798). Malthus was the first economist to propose a systematic theory of population. Malthus proposed in his book that humans grow exponentially whereas the food supply grows at an arithmetic rate. This scenario of arithmetic food growth with simultaneous geometric human population growth predicted a future when humans would have no resources to survive on. To avoid such a catastrophe, Malthus urged controls on population growth. Economically there are two approaches to the debate on how much the human population can grow. One debate is the natural science approach which is adopted by biologists, chemists and physicists. The natural science approach stands by the fundamental idea that earths capacity to supply is fixed and human population is constrained by physical limits and of scarce natural resources. They state that human biological requirements don t change. For example; everyone on the planet today needs 2000 2500 calories per day to be healthy, this is the same amount of calories our ancestors would have needed 1000 years ago, however, the earth is now vastly more populated than 1000 years ago, consequentially, there will come a time when there ...
