The Ideal of a Man The Ideal of a Woman of the Heian...
The ideal of a man and the ideal of a woman of the Heian court differs significantly from what people
of our modern society might consider ideal, but that is to be expected as our modern society has had
much time to be exposed to and affected by the influences of many different cultures viewpoints. In
comparison, the Heian court was a more closed society, so back then, the notions of what was
acceptable and unacceptable and the standards to which men and women were measured were more
defined. Genji monogatari suggests the standards to which the sexes should be measured and gives
examples of people who meet the standards. It goes without saying that Genji, the hero of the tale, is
the perfect man. Throughout the tale, every character, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He obeyed, among others, the convention of sending poems to women after staying the night with
them. Genji was a prodigy when it came to the playing the kin, and he could even play the sō no koto.
Judging by the way that he was portrayed, I would not be surprised if there was not an instrument that
he could not play. When Genji and Tō no Chūjō performed Blue Sea Waves, although Tō no Chūjō
was very skillful in his dancing as if he had rehearsed many times, Genji was still the person who
drew all of the attention from their audience. Genji s dance was so elegant, and his voice was so
beautiful that it was likened to the kalavinka, the bird that sings in paradise. Genji s prowess with
painting was also out of this world. The picture contest in chapter 17 ended immediately after his
paintings were revealed, even though the previous contenders were expert painters brought in
specifically for the competition. His paintings were renderings of Suma and Akashi the places where
he had spent his time in exile. Seeing paintings that captured the essence of the faraway place that
Genji had gone to brought tears to everyone s eyes as they were filled once again with feelings
surrounding the despair brought on by Genji s absence. The manner in which Genji treated his many
lovers was another quality that made him such a great man. He took pity on women for their
shortcomings and trespasses against him rather than hating and blaming them.

Essay on The Unique Art Produced During the Renaissance
The renaissance or rebirth was a cultural awakening which spanned from the fourteenth to sixteenth
century. A growing interest in humanist traits and classical ideas heavily influenced the art during the
renaissance. A growing community of artists provided much needed competition for their profession.
The renaissance introduced many different and modern ideas but also remained obedient to classical
belief. The unique art of the renaissance spread throughout Europe. Northern European art differed
tremendously from Italian art. Art during the early renaissance time period was mostly commissioned
by wealthy and powerful families. Ruling families were accepted by the average public. These
families commissioned various and lavish artworks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This unique blending of fresh ideas and rejuvenating classical ideas defined Masaccio s artwork and
more importantly the art of the early renaissance. The high renaissance time period introduced the
world to arguably its best artists. Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, and Titian ruled the
grand community of artists at the time. Da Vinci and Michelangelo further succeeded because of their
versatility. The high renaissance was marked by rival city states and a continued trend of lavish
spenders. Religious and political leaders spent great quantity of money to have their chapels, or any
setting appear better than their rivals. Michelangelo s artwork dominates over any other in the Sistine
chapel. The Sistine chapel is the ideal place of where new popes are elected. Michelangelo brought
along his love for sculpting in his paintings. There are about three hundred figures on the Sistine
Chapel s ceiling, and no two appear the same. Michelangelo s artwork has an enormous variety of
expression. Arguably Michelangelo s best painting; The Creation of Adam perfectly represents his
ideas. God is shown flying through the sky; while Adam is bound to the earth. Beneath the Lord s left
arm appears to be Eve, waiting to be born. The viewer s eye follows the entire arm motion perfectly,
which ends up pointing at Christ s child face. Michelangelo s figures differ greatly from Leonardo Da
Vinci s formal poses and gestures. Michelangelo s figures include

The Morality Play Everyman
The morality play Everyman is a play during the medieval period that represent all mankind while
dramatizing evil characters and good characters. The play upholds Christian virtues as the characters
are presented with abstract qualities. The play starts with God talking to Death to convey a message to
Everyman a pilgrimage he must take because of the sins that everyman has commented. God is upset
with everyman because of unkind acts, plentiful sins, and worldly riches that man has commented
while living without fear. The morality play Everyman is a play that illustrate life and death as the
author show the perception of death to Everyman.
In this play, God has made Death mandatory to everyman, Lord, I will in the world go run over all,
And cruelly outsearch both great and small; Every man will I beset that liveth beastly Out of God s
laws, and dreadeth not folly; He that loveth riches I will strike with my dart, His sight to blind, and
from heaven to depart, Except that alms be his good friend, In hell for to dwell, world without end.
Lo, yonder I see Everyman walking; Full little he thinketh on my coming; His mind is on fleshly lust
and his treasure, And great pain it shall cause him to endure Before the Lord Heaven King
(Pavao, 2014). Death is not tempted by man persuasions as he must deliver God s message. Death,
thou mighty messenger, is sent to search out Everyman to rely a message that grave awaits him. When
Death approached Everyman, Everyman tells him, Oh

The Problem Of Drug Trafficking
ng in the United States
Drug trafficking is the worldwide illegitimate trade, which involve the cultivating, producing,
distributing and the selling of materials that are subject to the drug proscription laws. There are a
number of drugs which are trafficked into the United States. These include, but are not limited to
heroin, marijuana and cocaine. The system of drug trafficking in the United States as well as in other
countries and continents remains very complex. Although the government and non government bodies
have set important laws to exclude the practice, drug trafficking has been a disturbing problem for
many years. Many people who venture into this dangerous and prohibited business do it in search for
money. It has been a belief that drug trafficking gives people a lot of money. As a result, people are
ready to take the risk and get into the business in trying to better their future. The punishments for
drug trafficking vary from one continent to another or from one country to another.
Drug trafficking has been one of the main sources of crime in the world. There are also endless
problems related to the consumption of drugs. In addition, drug smuggling is usually accompanied by
some crimes such as prostitution, murder, assault and kidnapping. Due to this, all the authorities in the
world work all through to ensure that people do not sell or consume illegal drugs in order to protect

Societal Values In Homer s Iliad And Women In Genesis
The women in Homer s Iliad and the women in Genesis both exhibit the accepted societal values in a
woman through their duties as wives, which typically consisted of obedience and the ability to sustain
their husband s lineage. Rebekah and Andromache both assume their roles as wives, but sometimes act
in ways outside of the what was considered normal in their society. Though both Rebekah and
Andromache maintain the classic role of a wife, they occasionally contradict the expectations of how a
woman should behave by making decisions traditionally made by men. Through revolutionary
behaviors demonstrated by both women, they grant themselves more authority and power in decision
making, which in turn affects the fate of each woman s family. Both Andromache and Rebekah share a
parallel in terms of their roles in carrying out the fate of their families, however what ultimately
distinguishes one from the other is how successful they are at sustaining those roles.
In the Iliad, Homer displays societal norms placed for wives through the actions of Andromache, yet
at the same time, conveys her as having more power and involvement in the family than what was
expected for a woman at the time to have. In her encounter with her husband, Hector, Andromache
establishes one of her main roles of trying to manipulate fate (moira) through attempting to prevent
him from returning to the war and facing his inevitable death. She pleas for him to show some pity

Threats
Some threats can adversely affect the business of Sears Holdings Corporation. The most prominent
risk faced by Sears Holding Corporation is the competition among the local, national and international
retail companies. Top three competitors of the group are J.C Penney Corporation Inc., Target
Corporation and Wal Mart Stores Inc. (Hoovers, 2011). The retail business is a cut throat competition.
The market players have a multitude of companies across various states and around the globe.
Moreover, many companies are merging and becoming large entities. If any merger of the magnitude
equal to Sears can have an impact on the market position and share of the Sears Holdings Corporation
Sear s revenue growth will likely be affected. The housing market crisis, as well as the increased food
and utility prices, change the buying power of the people by leaving the consumers with less
disposable income. At that point, the lowest pay permitted by law rate set by the US government has
expanded the work expenses of the organizations worked in the United States which has, thus,
developed their costs of operating together in the business sectors (Insley, 2011).

Is Okonkwo Sympathetic
Is Okonkwo s family relationships make him a sympathetic or unsympathetic character? There are
many interactions that Okonkwo has with his family. Such as his first, second, and third wife, and all
of his kids. Most of these interactions were negative interactions as it seems like his family is afraid of
him but some were still positive. It may seem like Okonkwo hates his family but he doesn t, he really
loves his family. Okonkwo is a sympathetic character and there are a couple of characters that can
prove this.
One family member/character that Okonkwo interacts with is Nwoye. Nwoye is one of the characters
that proves Okonkwo is a sympathetic character. An excerpt from the story said, Okonkwo s first son,
Nwoye, was then twelve years old but was already causing his father great anxiety for his incipient
laziness. At any rate, that was how it looked to his father, and he sought to correct him by constant
nagging and beating, And so Nwoye was developing into a sad faced youth. Nwoye proves that his
father (Okonkwo) is a sympathetic character because Okonkwo wants to spend his time disciplining

Evaluation Of User Requirement Analysis Of Data Warehouse...
Evaluation of User Requirement Analysis in Data Warehouse Design
1.0 Introduction
A data warehouse (DW) can be acknowledged as one of the most complex information system
modules available and it is a system that periodically retrieves and consolidates data from the sources
into a dimensional or normalized data store. It is an integrated, subject oriented, nonvolatile and a time
variant collection of data in support of management s decisions (Inmon, 1993).
1.1 Data Warehouse Design Process
When considering the suggestions of various authors who are well known in the field, such as William
Inmon and Ralph Kimball the DW design process can be divided into three main stages (Figure 1).
The first phase which is DW planning is aimed at determining the scope and the objectives of the DW.
The second phase will be concentrating on individual data marts (DM) and will be repeated for each
DM to be implemented. And according to the Figure 1, the second phase can be further divided into
five distinct main phases. The final phase will focus on performance optimization and keeping the DW
schema up to date. This paper will be focusing only on the requirement analysis phase.
In DW lifecycle, one of the most crucial phases that might affect all other phases of DW development
is the Requirement Analysis phase. It is a process of collecting requirements from end user. The goal
of this phase is to identify organizational objectives and elaborate requirements that could measure

The Pros And Cons Of Andrew Jackson
President Andrew Jackson served as President of the United States from 1826 to 1837 and is looked at
my many as one of the best presidents in American history. Jackson was a man without many limits
and did what he wanted because he simply wanted to do it, not because it was necessarily the popular
opinion or Constitutional. This caused a lot of problems, but also was very beneficial in making
solutions to problems in the country. Although, as a result of this, many people saw him as a dictator
like tyrant and didn t agree with his pandering towards the uneducated, more working class civilians
during his campaign. President Jackson s presidency was controversial as a result in debate over his
political tactics as well as possibly overstepping his Constitutional boundaries when it came to the
amount of power he exuded on the people; therefore, many people spoke out against his uneducated
followers as well as his aggressive style while some evidence shows that these efforts were supported.
Firstly, Jackson was the first president to ever pander to those who weren t educated, rich, and well
cultured. Coming from humble beginnings, Andrew Jackson sympathized with the average, everyday
citizen and wished to represent their opinions rather than just those of the wealthy. As shown in
Document 7, a pie graph showing the rise in the turnout of voters from 1824 to 1844 reveal a dramatic

The Importance Of A Cultural Framework That Is Suitable...

Budgets are very important part of business environment. They are considered to be essential key
drivers and evaluators for planning and control as well as managerial performance since 1920 (Reka et

modern dynamic business environment. Firstly, it will explain the concept of budgetary control, It will
then point out advantages and disadvantages of the current traditional system and how some
weaknesses can be addressed by implementing Beyond Budgeting (BB) using practical examples of

2.2 Benefits of Traditional Budgeting
Budgeting is a management control technique that can be used as an early warning system. Budgets
are of great help as a support performance management (Pietrzak, 2013). It can provide a detailed
information insight of the next fiscal year, which allows managers to set performance objectives much
more easily, make decisions and plan ahead. For example: When recession hit Europe in 2008, Davis
Service Group was able to assess effects and was able to build new and accurate theories for the
remainder of 2008. By recognizing and handling risks, Davis has been able to return profits, dividends
and cash flow for shareholders in a challenging economic environment.
Budgets generate a point of reference, making it easier for managers to accomplish activities with
stability. As long as managers can meet the set parameters, budgeting and the use of budget cost
centers provide them with the liberty to run their operations (Neely at al., 2003).
Budgets are a great communication tool used when obtaining information about company or e.g.
activities of its competitors. They also help in expressing ideas, goals and strategies of projects
between team members/employees and outside resources or potential investors, motivating employee
to drive forward.
2.3 Drawbacks of Traditional Budgeting
To make budgets is a very long and time consuming process, when organisations are trying to get

The Truth About Human Trafficking
The Truth About Human Trafficking
Human Trafficking is a modern day form of slavery involving the illegal trade of people for
exploitation or commercial gain (Human Trafficking). The term human trafficking evolved from
slavery in the early 1900 s and continued to become a global market over the past 100 years. There are
several different types of human trafficking such as forced labor, sexual exploitation, people
smuggling, and the harvesting of organs for commercial profit (Types of Human Trafficking.). Victims
of human trafficking are stripped of their identity and are denied their natural, human rights. There are
a total of 27 million enslaved women, men, and children all over the world. The average age of a
trafficking victim around the world is 12 years old (Human Trafficking The A21 Campaign). As a
society that values an individual s freedom and rights, the awareness and consequences associated
with human trafficking must be increased, as many governments do not contribute enough resources
in order to combat the various forms of human trafficking that occurs among nations.
Human trafficking began when the traditional form of slavery evolved into the forced prostitution of
women. In 1904, the International Agreement for the Suppression of White Slave Traffic was put into
place. This law was created to prevent women and children from being trafficked into sex trade. The
League of Nations was created in 1927 to discuss international issues, such as human

Abstract:
The essay examines evolution of popular music, experiences and how the public understood it
between 1918 and 1939. During this period, a national culture dance was developed in England.
Evolution process was marked with transformation of popular dance forms, affordable and easily
dances places and a national wide dancing practice. Evolvement of a dance culture was instrumental
in creation of a national identity. People understood what it meant to be British. There was an English
style of ballroom dancing, thematic content such as the popular Lambeth walk. To reduce American
influence on English music, British ballroom dancers tried to create British music free of American
influence. Through adaptation of different dancing styles, they presented what they believed to be the
real British identity. Introduction: In the words of Victor Sylvester, ballroom dancing was an activity
which could not be cut off or separated from the world; it was an activity which was influenced by
surrounding occurrences. Change in occasions such as fashion, war music and social upheavals all
played an important role in influencing the dancing scene. He observed that external forces influenced
performance as well as evolution of dancing (Sylvester, 1927). Rather than concentrating how dancing
was influenced by occurrences such as war or change of fashion, this essay

Evaluation Of The Standardized Patient Experience
Reflective Evaluation
The standardized patient experience was useful and interesting for me because I became more
confident and active during nursing practice after that practice exam. This practical exam helped me
recall my professional experience from year 2012 and 2013 when I worked as a nurse in my country.
After that practice exam, I knew how staff nurses deal and communicate with patients from a different
culture and spoke different language. My specialization is nursing education, but I wanted to take
more practical classes during the course or study to obtain first hard experience and confidence in
dealing with patients.
I had the opportunity to elicit a comprehensive health history by using skillful interviewing
techniques. However, I was nervous and panicky because I thought the time will be not adequate to
complete the practical exam. I applied my skills and experience during health history section, but the
problem was I did not deal with any real patient during nursing practical about two years ago. After I
introduced myself to the patients, I started to ask and write patient name, age, and chief complaint.
Then, I started to ask patients about subjective data which included a history of present illness, past
medical history, family history, and personal and social history. I did an appropriate job with
subjective data. I did not ask patients about sexual history during subjective data based on their
situation and age. Also, according to my previous experience

The Common Core State Standards Essay
In 2009 the Common Core State Standards, or CCSS, was initiated, and since then has become a large
part of education today. News shows in multiple states have shown students protesting these new
standards by skipping classes and school all together. These actions obviously show their refusal to
work with the new standards. While there are many teachers who are happy with these standards,
students still need to be convinced, and teachers can help this by supporting Common Core State
Standards. This in turn may help students understand their subjects better, and give teachers a more
attentive and active class. With CCSS being present in 2016 in most states it is of relevance to take it
in to consideration that it will be around for a while. In years to come, CCSS may become the
standards in all states. In order to ensure that there are no refusals to work with these standards,
administration and faculty in high schools across the United States should find a way to accommodate
these new common core state standards. This can be done through reassuring individual teachers that
they are able to teach the new standards in ways that are easy for them, showing different ways to help
students achieve a higher order of thinking, and offer a better way to connect students previous
knowledge to knowledge they are currently receiving.
Each of the news ways stated in the previous paragraph can help to alleviate any concerns parents and
teachers may have about how students and education

Intentional Revolutions Is Organizational Change
Intentional Revolutions is organizational change that requires people to examine and alter the basic
assumptions driving and supporting the present state of their organizational life. It is about change that
asks people to do things in dramatically new and different ways, as opposed to making small
improvements in current practices. The requirements for remaining competitive often include sharp
breaks with past beliefs and practices. There is need for organizations of all kinds to make

Yevgeny Zamyatin s We and George Orwell s 1984 demonstrate totalitarianism in fictional countries.
Totalitarianism is a system of government that is centralized, dictatorial, and requires complete
subservience to the state. A totalitarian government manipulates human consciousness by the use of
propaganda that implanted dogma, that is living with the results of the Benefactor s perspectives and
Big Brothers theories respectively as incontrovertibly true. This overall idea of mind control over the
people evinces the millennial generation which believed that will take over the world. In point of fact,
people nowadays have been technologically orchestrated by those contemporary theories used by
mass media. In both novels, human minds are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

governing body looks for them to think about. It reflects the social request today of any autocrat
confirming his nation is enormously torpid and along these lines safety is more implausible.
(Goldstein). Into the last minutes the Party may avow that two and two made five, and you may need
to acknowledge it. It was inflexible that they should just make that claim in the long run: the
justification of their position solicited it. Not just the realness of experience, however the exact

Party is that the people will be so imbued to affirm whatever the Party instigates them to

what is truly occasion. They understand that the demonstration is a misrepresentation, nonetheless

Greek Weapons
Throughout the Middle Ages, the creation and the types of weapons, as well as the techniques of using
them, were all different and were suited for a knight s own needs. Since every knight had unique
characteristics and fighting styles, blacksmiths had to cast weapons that met their specifications.
Additionally, the knights needed to be capable of using a plethora of weapons since each had a
specific purpose for different scenarios such as using projectile weapons for ranged combat. In order
to best serve their king, they had to use their weapons skillfully and effectively. To achieve this, the
knights had to know multiple weapon techniques and fighting styles to help them outsmart or
outmaneuver their opponents. Since the knights job was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An aspect that made the creation of a weapon complex were the different physical properties of a
weapon such as the shape of the blade, weight, length, and handle design, which all varied depending
on the characteristics of the owner. For example, a weak male knight was recommended to carry a
lighter sword, so that he would be able to swing his weapon with ease. If the weak knight carried an
extremely heavy sword, the sword would be more difficult to swing, which then causes the knight s
skill in swordsmanship to diminish. Because of this, blacksmiths needed to be knowledgeable of how
each weapon functioned in relation to its physical characteristics. The first step in creating a weapon
was to find iron ores, which was the main resource used to craft many weapons. Miners had to search
for iron ores in the ground and also extract the iron from them. This process was already quite time
consuming and required a lot of difficult work. The crafting of the actual weapon was even more
arduous since blacksmiths had to hammer and weld together thin strips of iron and steel of varying
hardnesses to form the core of the blade. The production of an average steel sword often took around a
week for a decent blacksmith. However, if they were working on a weapon specifically for their king,
it took around six months to ensure perfect

British Sonnets
The British sonnets To Sleep and Come Sleep! O Sleep, the certain knot of peace , written by John
Keats and Sir Phillip Sidney respectively, contain many similarities and a few distinct differences.
They both are about the act of falling to sleep and the many beneficial thing that come from sleeping.
Both of these sonnets are also very moving in their exquisite use of an assortment of literary
techniques. However, these sonnets differ in the tone in which they are written, the speed at which
they are intended to be read, and their rhyme scheme. The British sonnets To Sleep and Come Sleep!
O Sleep, the certain knot of peace are very similar in their subject matter and use of literary
techniques, but are quite different in their tone, designed reading speed and rhyme scheme. The British
sonnets To Sleep and Come Sleep! O Sleep, the certain knot of peace contain many similarities.
Perhaps the two sonnets greatest common factor is their extensive use of personification. The two
authors of these poems both use personification to humanize sleep. Personification is displayed in To
Sleep when the narrator calls sleep the soft embalmer of the still midnight (Keats 1). The narrator is
bestowing upon the sleep the title of the soft embalmer of the still midnight (Keats 1). The use of
placing a title of something non human bestows near human like status upon said non human object.
Sir Phillip Sidney also uses personification in his sonnet, Come Sleep! O Sleep, the

Methods Of Error Detecting Code
Introduction The most common method of transmitting information include use of bit strings. It s
beyond bounds of possibility to evade errors when data is stored, recovered, operated on or
transmitted. The likely source for this errors include electrical interference, noisy communication
channels, human error or even equipment error and storing data for a very long time on magnetic
tapes.. Important to consider therefore is ensuring liable transmission when large computer files are
transmitted very fast or say when data is sent over a very long distance and to recover data that have
degraded due to long storage on tapes. For a reliable transmission of data, techniques from coding
theory are used. It is done in a such a way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
in case this is done, errors will not only be able to detected but also corrected . In short , in case
sufficiently few errors are made in the transmission of a codeword, it becomes very easier to
determine which codeword was sent. the following examples illustrate the idea. Application include
television cameras. Hamming Distance when it comes to information theory, Hamming distance refers
to the number of bits which are the difference between two binary strings. expressed alternatively,, the
distance between two strings A and B is ∑ | Ai Bi |. simply put in a similar way is that it determines
the minimum number of substitutions required to alter one string into the other, or the lowest number
of errors that could have changed one string into the other. large application is in coding theory, more
specifically to block codes, in which the equal length strings are vectors over a finite field. Perfect
Codes Perfect Codes refers to those codes that achieve the Hamming bound .A good example include
those codes that have just a single codeword, and also those codes that are the whole of . Another
perfect example can be illustrated by the repeat codes, where each symbol of the message is
duplicated an odd fixed number of times so as to obtain a codeword whereby q = 2. Both of these
examples are often referred to as the trivial perfect codes. In the year 1973, it was confirmed that any
non trivial perfect code over a prime power

Explain How Organisations Use Information
P1 Explain How Organisations Use Information
What is information?
Information is very important when used in organisations. Organisations need to have accurate and
quality information so the information is reliable. There is Date and Information, Data is raw facts or
figures that have not yet been processed, data is things such as times, weights, measurements and
scales. Information is data that is useable, such as TV listings, bus timetables. Etc. there are two types
of data, Qualitative date and Quantitative data.
Qualitative date involves date/information that cannot be measured in the usual way; this is because it
is spoken or written. So for example if an organisation did a survey and needed information on a
product from them to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Benefits and Drawbacks of Primary and Secondary data
When collecting information and data, it can take a while and also needs to be done right, so that you
can read from the results and use them as valid data for you organisation. Secondary can be beneficial
for you and your organisation, because you get another organisation, it is therefore easier for you since
you don t need to gather all of the information yourself. This can benefit you in giving you more time
to focus on other organisations, but at the same time using secondary data can have a drawback for
you and your organisation. Since it is not you collecting and gathering all of the data yourself, the data
can be collected wrong, therefore can have a huge impact on your own organisation by having
incorrect data.
Primary data however is also good and bad, on the good side, you are gathering and collecting the data
independently, since gathering data correctly is important and cannot afford any mistakes, since this
can impact on your results you have gathered. This is why by doing it yourself, you can rely on
yourself to collect that data correctly. But, this can also affect you and your time, by doing this
independently with your business, you are using up time what could be necessary for you and your
organisation.
What is information used for? Purposes Of information
Information is necessary for any

Book Report Angelas Ashes Essay
Angela s Ashes by Frank McCourt
A Look at Irish Culture during the Depression Era
Frank Mc Court, the author of Angela s Ashes, was born during the Great Depression. A few years
after immigrating to the United States because their families believed they would find their fortune
here, his Irish family moved back to Ireland in hopes of a better life. They were met with only more
hardships in their native country. His book shows the struggle and small joys of daily life with
siblings, school friends, and the adults in his life. It also provides much insight into the way the people
in Ireland lived at that time. The author tells the story from the viewpoint of Frank, the oldest child of
a father whose background in quot;the North quot; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is also quot;the drink quot; the disease of Irish fathers who spend their weeks wages in the pub
on Friday night. (p. 184)
Frank s mother was forced to seek Relief, the Irish version of America s welfare system. She also
sought help from the Catholic and Protestant Church in feeding her family. The iron in the book was
that help was not given out without an accompanying sermon, in hopes of persuasion to join one or the
other. Mc Court depicts those in charge of the Relief system as being biased and unchristian type of
people who looked down on those they were in a position to help. (p. 150)
There are many amusing stories in the book revolving around the way the young children had to fend
for themselves while their parents sought work. In an effort to keep their apartment heated throughout
an especially cold winter, the children tore apart the furniture, and when that was gone they began to
use the wood from the walls. When the landlord came to see the apartment, he commented that he
thought he had rented them a 4 room apartment when it was only a 3 room, not realizing they had torn
out an entire wall. (p. 79)
Even those relatives who had some money were not always eager to help the family. They were
critical of the drunken father and for the mother who continued having children they could not
support. Ironically, however, when there was a death in the family, everyone showed up

Character Analysis Of A Separate Peace
Separating Peace Character By Character
A Separate Peace is a novel based around a group of high school boys in a private college preparatory
school named Devon. Most of Devon s students want, have, and search for peace throughout their
time at school. Upon return from summer break, each character searches for and discovers their own
peace. Each character has found or withheld a certain peace, in real life. Each separate peace is
exposed throughout fatal or cheerful events. The words separate and peace represent a variety of ideas
in Knowles novel, especially for Gene, Phineas, and Leper. I believe author John Knowles chose this
title to imply individuals may possess their own unique peace.
Each character in A Separate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was always fully at peace there and did not care what the others thought about that. There are so
many people who love to be outside just to be there and admire the scene. I completely relate,
especially during the summer.
During the times that I was spending my time alone I felt completely friendless and without
acquaintances. I eventually became used to it and it was not so bad. When I did end up in a group like
Leper did with Gene, Finny, Chet, and Bobby, I felt better about myself. I also met a new girl in my
grade who was always by herself. I felt bad and began to talk to her. She would not force herself on
anyone and was really quiet and shy and would stay by herself if needs be. She was really excited to
make new friends and we hit it right off. A body can be peaceful, being alone to revel in their own
version of entertainment, but still with a group of pals. This is one specific peace that can fill a person.
There are so many more and a couple of other categories were demonstrated through the writing, each
showing in a different main character.
The title does not necessarily stand just for being happy when alone. It can also be interpreted to being
a peace if being talkative, surrounded by close buddies, having healthy, silly, crazy relationships with
everyone, and doing the possible and anything off the beaten path (such as breaking the rules and
jumping out of a tree). In the text there is one constantly

A History Of The Gilpin Family
A history of the Gilpin Family in America From 1685 to 1810 (Change title) The Gilpin family, have
been an integral part of American History since their arrival in 1695. The family, who arrived, as part
of an initial large wave of Quakers in America, carved out a place in American, more specifically
Quaker History. Coming to America, at the invitation of William Penn, and deeply embroiled in
significant events in American History, the Gilpin s were early founders of Pennsylvania. Their
Quaker background proved to be of primary importance in precisely how the family participated in
important events, like the American Revolution. From their peaceful relations with Indians to their
involvement in the American Revolution, their pacifist belief system influenced their action. However,
not all members of the Gilpin family remained pacifists. While one member Thomas Gilpin held fast
to his Quaker beliefs during the American Revolution, another, Colonel George Gilpin, Became a
close confidant of George Washington eventually serving as Pallbearer at Washington s funeral. . The
Quakers were different from many of the settlers of other early American colonies. The Quakers, also
known as the Society of Friends, were built upon ideals of pacifism and benevolence. They did not
come here as traders or merchants. The Quakers came here for religious freedom, as did many others.
However, Quakers, who had experienced persecution in other colonies like

  • 4. The Ideal of a Man The Ideal of a Woman of the Heian... The ideal of a man and the ideal of a woman of the Heian court differs significantly from what people of our modern society might consider ideal, but that is to be expected as our modern society has had much time to be exposed to and affected by the influences of many different cultures viewpoints. In comparison, the Heian court was a more closed society, so back then, the notions of what was acceptable and unacceptable and the standards to which men and women were measured were more defined. Genji monogatari suggests the standards to which the sexes should be measured and gives examples of people who meet the standards. It goes without saying that Genji, the hero of the tale, is the perfect man. Throughout the tale, every character, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He obeyed, among others, the convention of sending poems to women after staying the night with them. Genji was a prodigy when it came to the playing the kin, and he could even play the sō no koto. Judging by the way that he was portrayed, I would not be surprised if there was not an instrument that he could not play. When Genji and Tō no Chūjō performed Blue Sea Waves, although Tō no Chūjō was very skillful in his dancing as if he had rehearsed many times, Genji was still the person who drew all of the attention from their audience. Genji s dance was so elegant, and his voice was so beautiful that it was likened to the kalavinka, the bird that sings in paradise. Genji s prowess with painting was also out of this world. The picture contest in chapter 17 ended immediately after his paintings were revealed, even though the previous contenders were expert painters brought in specifically for the competition. His paintings were renderings of Suma and Akashi the places where he had spent his time in exile. Seeing paintings that captured the essence of the faraway place that Genji had gone to brought tears to everyone s eyes as they were filled once again with feelings surrounding the despair brought on by Genji s absence. The manner in which Genji treated his many lovers was another quality that made him such a great man. He took pity on women for their shortcomings and trespasses against him rather than hating and blaming them. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay on The Unique Art Produced During the Renaissance The renaissance or rebirth was a cultural awakening which spanned from the fourteenth to sixteenth century. A growing interest in humanist traits and classical ideas heavily influenced the art during the renaissance. A growing community of artists provided much needed competition for their profession. The renaissance introduced many different and modern ideas but also remained obedient to classical belief. The unique art of the renaissance spread throughout Europe. Northern European art differed tremendously from Italian art. Art during the early renaissance time period was mostly commissioned by wealthy and powerful families. Ruling families were accepted by the average public. These families commissioned various and lavish artworks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This unique blending of fresh ideas and rejuvenating classical ideas defined Masaccio s artwork and more importantly the art of the early renaissance. The high renaissance time period introduced the world to arguably its best artists. Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, and Titian ruled the grand community of artists at the time. Da Vinci and Michelangelo further succeeded because of their versatility. The high renaissance was marked by rival city states and a continued trend of lavish spenders. Religious and political leaders spent great quantity of money to have their chapels, or any setting appear better than their rivals. Michelangelo s artwork dominates over any other in the Sistine chapel. The Sistine chapel is the ideal place of where new popes are elected. Michelangelo brought along his love for sculpting in his paintings. There are about three hundred figures on the Sistine Chapel s ceiling, and no two appear the same. Michelangelo s artwork has an enormous variety of expression. Arguably Michelangelo s best painting; The Creation of Adam perfectly represents his ideas. God is shown flying through the sky; while Adam is bound to the earth. Beneath the Lord s left arm appears to be Eve, waiting to be born. The viewer s eye follows the entire arm motion perfectly, which ends up pointing at Christ s child face. Michelangelo s figures differ greatly from Leonardo Da Vinci s formal poses and gestures. • 10. Societal Values In Homer s Iliad And Women In Genesis The women in Homer s Iliad and the women in Genesis both exhibit the accepted societal values in a woman through their duties as wives, which typically consisted of obedience and the ability to sustain their husband s lineage. Rebekah and Andromache both assume their roles as wives, but sometimes act in ways outside of the what was considered normal in their society. Though both Rebekah and Andromache maintain the classic role of a wife, they occasionally contradict the expectations of how a woman should behave by making decisions traditionally made by men. Through revolutionary behaviors demonstrated by both women, they grant themselves more authority and power in decision making, which in turn affects the fate of each woman s family. Both Andromache and Rebekah share a parallel in terms of their roles in carrying out the fate of their families, however what ultimately distinguishes one from the other is how successful they are at sustaining those roles. In the Iliad, Homer displays societal norms placed for wives through the actions of Andromache, yet at the same time, conveys her as having more power and involvement in the family than what was expected for a woman at the time to have. In her encounter with her husband, Hector, Andromache establishes one of her main roles of trying to manipulate fate (moira) through attempting to prevent him from returning to the war and facing his inevitable death. The company incurred the losses over one hundred and fifty million US dollars for the quarter ended in April 2011. The most prominent risk faced by Sears Holding Corporation is the competition among the local, national and international retail companies. The market players have a multitude of companies across various states and around the globe. Moreover, many companies are merging and becoming large entities. • 12. Is Okonkwo Sympathetic Is Okonkwo s family relationships make him a sympathetic or unsympathetic character? There are many interactions that Okonkwo has with his family. Such as his first, second, and third wife, and all of his kids. Most of these interactions were negative interactions as it seems like his family is afraid of him but some were still positive. It may seem like Okonkwo hates his family but he doesn t, he really loves his family. Okonkwo is a sympathetic character and there are a couple of characters that can prove this. One family member/character that Okonkwo interacts with is Nwoye. Nwoye is one of the characters that proves Okonkwo is a sympathetic character. An excerpt from the story said, Okonkwo s first son, Nwoye, was then twelve years old but was already causing his father great anxiety for his incipient laziness. At any rate, that was how it looked to his father, and he sought to correct him by constant nagging and beating, And so Nwoye was developing into a sad faced youth. Evaluation of User Requirement Analysis in Data Warehouse Design 1.0 Introduction A data warehouse (DW) can be acknowledged as one of the most complex information system modules available and it is a system that periodically retrieves and consolidates data from the sources into a dimensional or normalized data store. It is an integrated, subject oriented, nonvolatile and a time variant collection of data in support of management s decisions (Inmon, 1993). 1.1 Data Warehouse Design Process When considering the suggestions of various authors who are well known in the field, such as William Inmon and Ralph Kimball the DW design process can be divided into three main stages (Figure 1). The first phase which is DW planning is aimed at determining the scope and the objectives of the DW. The second phase will be concentrating on individual data marts (DM) and will be repeated for each DM to be implemented. And according to the Figure 1, the second phase can be further divided into five distinct main phases. The final phase will focus on performance optimization and keeping the DW schema up to date. This paper will be focusing only on the requirement analysis phase. In DW lifecycle, one of the most crucial phases that might affect all other phases of DW development is the Requirement Analysis phase. It is a process of collecting requirements from end user. The Pros And Cons Of Andrew Jackson President Andrew Jackson served as President of the United States from 1826 to 1837 and is looked at my many as one of the best presidents in American history. Jackson was a man without many limits and did what he wanted because he simply wanted to do it, not because it was necessarily the popular opinion or Constitutional. This caused a lot of problems, but also was very beneficial in making solutions to problems in the country. Although, as a result of this, many people saw him as a dictator like tyrant and didn t agree with his pandering towards the uneducated, more working class civilians during his campaign. President Jackson s presidency was controversial as a result in debate over his political tactics as well as possibly overstepping his Constitutional boundaries when it came to the amount of power he exuded on the people; therefore, many people spoke out against his uneducated followers as well as his aggressive style while some evidence shows that these efforts were supported. Firstly, Jackson was the first president to ever pander to those who weren t educated, rich, and well cultured. Coming from humble beginnings, Andrew Jackson sympathized with the average, everyday citizen and wished to represent their opinions rather than just those of the wealthy. As shown in Document 7, a pie graph showing the rise in the turnout of voters from 1824 to 1844 reveal a dramatic increase in voter turn out when Jackson first ran for President compared to the previous ... • 16. The Importance Of A Cultural Framework That Is Suitable... 1.0 INTRODUCTION Budgets are very important part of business environment. They are considered to be essential key drivers and evaluators for planning and control as well as managerial performance since 1920 (Reka et al., 2014). This report aims to investigate how to promote a cultural framework that is suitable for the modern dynamic business environment. Firstly, it will explain the concept of budgetary control, It will then point out advantages and disadvantages of the current traditional system and how some weaknesses can be addressed by implementing Beyond Budgeting (BB) using practical examples of organisations that have been successful and what were the problems that they have encountered. It will also discuss why some organisations ... Budgets are of great help as a support performance management (Pietrzak, 2013). It can provide a detailed information insight of the next fiscal year, which allows managers to set performance objectives much more easily, make decisions and plan ahead. For example: When recession hit Europe in 2008, Davis Service Group was able to assess effects and was able to build new and accurate theories for the remainder of 2008. By recognizing and handling risks, Davis has been able to return profits, dividends and cash flow for shareholders in a challenging economic environment. Budgets generate a point of reference, making it easier for managers to accomplish activities with stability. As long as managers can meet the set parameters, budgeting and the use of budget cost centers provide them with the liberty to run their operations (Neely at al., 2003). Budgets are a great communication tool used when obtaining information about company or e.g. activities of its competitors. They also help in expressing ideas, goals and strategies of projects between team members/employees and outside resources or potential investors, motivating employee to drive forward. 2.3 Drawbacks of Traditional Budgeting To make budgets is a very long and time consuming process, when organisations are trying to get reliable and ... • 17. The Truth About Human Trafficking The Truth About Human Trafficking Human Trafficking is a modern day form of slavery involving the illegal trade of people for exploitation or commercial gain (Human Trafficking). The term human trafficking evolved from slavery in the early 1900 s and continued to become a global market over the past 100 years. There are several different types of human trafficking such as forced labor, sexual exploitation, people smuggling, and the harvesting of organs for commercial profit (Types of Human Trafficking.). Victims of human trafficking are stripped of their identity and are denied their natural, human rights. There are a total of 27 million enslaved women, men, and children all over the world. The average age of a trafficking victim around the world is 12 years old (Human Trafficking The A21 Campaign). As a society that values an individual s freedom and rights, the awareness and consequences associated with human trafficking must be increased, as many governments do not contribute enough resources in order to combat the various forms of human trafficking that occurs among nations. Human trafficking began when the traditional form of slavery evolved into the forced prostitution of women. In 1904, the International Agreement for the Suppression of White Slave Traffic was put into place. This law was created to prevent women and children from being trafficked into sex trade. The League of Nations was created in 1927 to discuss international issues, such as human ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Evaluation Of The Standardized Patient Experience Reflective Evaluation The standardized patient experience was useful and interesting for me because I became more confident and active during nursing practice after that practice exam. This practical exam helped me recall my professional experience from year 2012 and 2013 when I worked as a nurse in my country. After that practice exam, I knew how staff nurses deal and communicate with patients from a different culture and spoke different language. My specialization is nursing education, but I wanted to take more practical classes during the course or study to obtain first hard experience and confidence in dealing with patients. I had the opportunity to elicit a comprehensive health history by using skillful interviewing techniques. However, I was nervous and panicky because I thought the time will be not adequate to complete the practical exam. I applied my skills and experience during health history section, but the problem was I did not deal with any real patient during nursing practical about two years ago. After I introduced myself to the patients, I started to ask and write patient name, age, and chief complaint. Then, I started to ask patients about subjective data which included a history of present illness, past medical history, family history, and personal and social history. I did an appropriate job with subjective data. I did not ask patients about sexual history during subjective data based on their situation and age. Also, according to my previous experience ... • 21. The Common Core State Standards Essay In 2009 the Common Core State Standards, or CCSS, was initiated, and since then has become a large part of education today. News shows in multiple states have shown students protesting these new standards by skipping classes and school all together. These actions obviously show their refusal to work with the new standards. While there are many teachers who are happy with these standards, students still need to be convinced, and teachers can help this by supporting Common Core State Standards. This in turn may help students understand their subjects better, and give teachers a more attentive and active class. With CCSS being present in 2016 in most states it is of relevance to take it in to consideration that it will be around for a while. In years to come, CCSS may become the standards in all states. In order to ensure that there are no refusals to work with these standards, administration and faculty in high schools across the United States should find a way to accommodate these new common core state standards. This can be done through reassuring individual teachers that they are able to teach the new standards in ways that are easy for them, showing different ways to help students achieve a higher order of thinking, and offer a better way to connect students previous knowledge to knowledge they are currently receiving. An aspect that made the creation of a weapon complex were the different physical properties of a weapon such as the shape of the blade, weight, length, and handle design, which all varied depending on the characteristics of the owner. For example, a weak male knight was recommended to carry a lighter sword, so that he would be able to swing his weapon with ease. If the weak knight carried an extremely heavy sword, the sword would be more difficult to swing, which then causes the knight s skill in swordsmanship to diminish. Because of this, blacksmiths needed to be knowledgeable of how each weapon functioned in relation to its physical characteristics. The first step in creating a weapon was to find iron ores, which was the main resource used to craft many weapons. Miners had to search for iron ores in the ground and also extract the iron from them. This process was already quite time consuming and required a lot of difficult work. The crafting of the actual weapon was even more arduous since blacksmiths had to hammer and weld together thin strips of iron and steel of varying hardnesses to form the core of the blade. Important to consider therefore is ensuring liable transmission when large computer files are transmitted very fast or say when data is sent over a very long distance and to recover data that have degraded due to long storage on tapes. Application include television cameras. Hamming Distance when it comes to information theory, Hamming distance refers to the number of bits which are the difference between two binary strings. expressed alternatively,, the distance between two strings A and B is ∑ | Ai Bi |. simply put in a similar way is that it determines the minimum number of substitutions required to alter one string into the other, or the lowest number of errors that could have changed one string into the other. large application is in coding theory, more specifically to block codes, in which the equal length strings are vectors over a finite field. Perfect Codes Perfect Codes refers to those codes that achieve the Hamming bound .A good example include those codes that have just a single codeword, and also those codes that are the whole of . Another perfect example can be illustrated by the repeat codes, where each symbol of the message is duplicated an odd fixed number of times so as to obtain a codeword whereby q = 2.
