Citizen Kane Themes
Moreover, the movie Citizen Kane is not a defined as a Christian movie, however, it depicts the King
Solomon s teachings from the book of Ecclesiastic. The end of the movie showing a group of
journalists pounding at Xanadu palace, taking pictures and chatting about the vainness of finding the
meaning of Rosebud , is much related with the following verses of the Ecclesiastes 2:7 I possessed
flocks and herds larger than all who preceded me in Jerusalem. Also, I collected for myself silver and
gold and the treasures of kings and provinces and Ecclesiastes 6:7 All human work is for the mouth,
but the soul is not satisfied. In fact, the life of Kane is much like the life of King Solomon, a man
whose own lust for power, riches, and pleasure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This movie is filled with series of magnificent shots creating a fascinating plot. For instance, a setting
that vividly portrays the theme of the movie is Kane s palace, Xanadu, where the film director
purposely chooses to show it at the beginning and at the end of the movie. This setting alludes that
riches and power cannot buy or substitute love and Kane, throughout his life, never detains that most
of the things he aspires so badly do not replace for what he could not perhaps get, the love of his
mother and the loss of childhood. Another great examples of how setting can play a huge role in
describing the theme of the movie are the following: the candidate Kane gaining control of New York
Inquirer newspaper and running for governor of New York, the young boy playing in snow as his
parents determine his future, and building a massive opera house for his second wife, black smoke
blowing out the chimney of Xanadu palace. Overall, the film director chooses settings and events like
these to realistically show Kane s changes from innocent young man to a wealthy egocentric

The Federalism Of The United States
Americans utilize the Federalism idea as putting into effect the Constitution for Federal, State, and
Local governments. These areas are served as different areas with different needs and goals within the
federalist theory. The National Government has expressed powers over the nation and subjects that
effect our nation. The State has limited powers that are involved within the State s boundaries. The
local government is expressed to help regulate the states. All together the governments make one
unitary system that can metaphorically be described as a cake. The breakup of federalism started out
being broken up in layers, like a layer cake, with distinct separated powers of National government
and State. Accordingly, as the New Federalism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The arguments resembled that the Federalist held the upper hand since they were wealthy landowners
to take charge of the democracy. Conversely, Antifederalist were afraid to give into signing the
constitution in favor of the Federalist ideas because they felt it would grant too much power to the
National Government instead of the States. The dispute between the Federalist and Antifederalist lead
to, what is known today, as a breakthrough of famous Federalist Papers that lead to the greater
understanding of the Constitution. The Federalist Papers appeared as persuasive writings developed by
what we know today as historical figures that make up the founding fathers of the ratification of the
Constitution. The writings of the Federalist argued that they held the privilege to secure the
government to favor the economy. The Federalist wrote to convince the public in the newspapers that
their views and actions would create a perfect balance and protect the Nation s people. On the other
hand, Anti Federalist opposed ratification of the Constitution in favor of the federalist ideas. The
Antifederalist persuaded that the Federalist would favor slavery, and people s rights would be in
danger. The two groups feuding created an important factor in the U.S. Constitution. Like so, the
Federalist considered the Antifederalist ideas and managed to compromise a Bill of Rights to be added
to the Constitution in favor of absolute security to people s rights

Introduction
The legislation process of Anti Monopoly Law has been indeed a long journey. The new AML is a
tremendous leap forward for China, bringing China into the modern world of antitrust and competition
law. The law, which aims to prevent dominance of any one company, was first proposed in 1994. But
its pace was slow until 6 years later because of pressure from big state owned companies and
multinationals that had just started doing business in China. It wasn t until 2001, when China joined
the World Trade Organization, did the process accelerate. In August 2007, the law was finally passed
by the National People s Congress. Although the measure compromised with state owned enterprises,
which dominate industry, people tend to believe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, market dominance will be presumed to exist in the following cases (although this
presumption can be rebutted by evidence to the contrary): * if the operator has a market share of at
least 50 per cent; * if the joint market share of two operators accounts for at least two thirds of the
relevant market; or * if the joint market share of three operators accounts for at least three quarters of
the relevant market. * The monopolistic practice * The definition monopolistic competition is firms
which in effect hold a monopoly over their products, in that the firm is able to influence the market
price of its product by altering the rate of production. Monopolistic competitive firms produce
products that are not perfect substitutes or are at least perceived to be different to all other brands
products. Unlike in perfect competition, the monopolistic competitive firm does not produce at the
lowest possible average total cost. Instead, the firm produces at an inefficient output level, reaping
more in additional revenue than it incurs in additional cost versus the efficient output level.
There are several kinds of monopolistic practice as follow * Dumping can refer to any kind of
predatory pricing. However, the word is now generally used only in the context of international trade
law, where dumping is defined as the act of a manufacturer in one country exporting a product to
another country at a

Female Polar Bears
Polar bears are a unique animal all their own. Male polar bears have a versatile diet and foraging
strategy compared to female polar bears, which is proving helpful with recent climate changes.
Throughout this paper, the foraging techniques of male and female polar bears will be discussed along
with increasing climate temperatures and how it is affecting polar bears. Male polar bears are more
versatile when foraging for food compared to female polar bears. Thiemann et al. (2011) found that
males would have a wider range in food selection due to the size of the adult male polar bears giving it
a greater opportunity to hunt larger animals. Therefore the males could better forage because of more
options available to them. Thiemann et al. (2011) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the ice is slowly breaking away, it is causing a negative effect for polar bears and their foraging
ability by not allowing an area for hunting of ringed seals (Elvin, 2014). Rockwell and Gormezano
(2009) talk about how the breaking apart of the ice disrupts the amount of time the polar bears have
for hunting seals which in return is causing the polar bears to travel to land sooner. Rockwell and
Gormezano (2009) state that as the polar bears are coming to shore sooner, they are interfering with
the hatching season of snow geese. Due to the polar bears intruding on the nests, this gives the polar
bears the opportunity to consume the offspring of the snow geese and obtain any energy still required
(Rockwell and Gormezano, 2009). Even though the polar bears may not get the energy they need from
seals, they are still able to get it by other means because of the climate changing. Overall, male and
female polar bears have their own ways of hunting and foraging. Although the females have their
physical limitations due to size or their cubs, they still find a way to survive like the males do by
feeding off carcasses and hunting. Climate change is the other limiting factor that is changing the way
polar bears forage, but is also providing new ways as well through nesting grounds. As the world
keeps changing, the polar bears are changing as well to adapt and survive the best way

Culture of Ecuador and the Glapagos Islands
Culture of Ecuador and the Glapagos Islands
Meghan Lazor
Ecuador is South America s second smallest country and is regarded as one of the most geographically
and ethnically diverse countries on the continent. The Galapagos Islands are part of Ecuador with a
small population of only 10,000 people. Both culture rich countries are largely uncharted, making
them an exciting and adventurous place to visit. Ecuador is located in the northwest corner of South
America with the Galapagos Islands to the west. The equator runs across the country which is what
gave Ecuador its name. The variation in climate transfers into the lifestyle of its people causing a large
range of cultures throughout the country. The diversity in geography for both ... Show more content on

Children grow up with a moral responsibility for helping the family. Ecuadorian people tend to
perform actions that benefit the whole as a group rather than focusing on one s self. The culture
focuses on the idea that it is better to grow as a together rather than living separated. Unlike in much
of the west, where the elderly are often placed in care facilities, elderly Ecuadorians will often live
with one of their children. Godparents are also far more important in Ecuador than in other western
countries, and they are expected to provide both financial and psychological support to their
godchildren. Ecuadorians with marital troubles will often ask their godparents for advice
(Weistmantel, 89) Girls tend to be more protected by their parents than boys, due to traditional social
structures. At age 15, girls often have traditional parties called fiesta de quince años. Quinceañera is
the term used for the girl, not the party. The party involves festive food and dance. This coming of age
or debutante party is a tradition found in most Latin American countries, comparable to the American
tradition of sweet sixteen parties. (92)

Music In The Movie Jaws
Music is such an important component to a film. It changes the delivery of a scene and how the
audience reacts to a scene. A popular example of how music can dramatize a movie is the movie Jaws.
In the beach scene alone there are multiple times that music added to the viewing experience. Parts
that I will mention includes the music when the shark was approaching the boy, when the camera
zoomed in on Martin Brody, and when the parents were frantically grabbing their kids. Dialogue helps
the viewer know what is helping in a scene but music adds something more, the feelings. Jaws is most
notorious for the iconic theme song. The shark attack scene would not be the same without it. I have
personally never watched this movie

Woodland Periods in North America
North America was a land of quite diversities from the east to the south. One of the early periods was
the Eastern Woodland period (800 200 BCE) which led to the mound emergence and when the Middle
Woodland period (c. 200 BCE AD 400) started, the mounds became more significant for ritual and
spiritual meaning widespread (Scarre 681: 2013). Adena and the Middle Woodland societies traded
throughout the land such as the southern Appalachians and the Great Lakes. They would trade artifacts
like marine shells, whelks, and pipestones (ibid 682). Most of the Middle Woodland artifacts were
actually found in Ohio though it was evident that people would travel long distances to different
destinations. During the Late Woodland period (AD 400 1000), mounds were coming to an end in
some areas as well as long distance trades. Population didn t cease to grow and stretched through the
Midwest and Southwest. The villages that separated into owning more land where it was farther from
river access started to cultivate native plants but they only lasted a few years (ibid 684). When the
trading system of non local materials started to die, weapons began to emerge such as arrowheads,
bows and arrows for hunting. Tension between villages rose which then led to fighting and death
which then also led to the formation of militarized groups by the end of the first millennium (ibid
686). Chiefdoms also became a part of life around AD 1000 mainly due to people seeking help from
strong leaders in

Who Is Leslie Knope s Parks And Recreation
Parks and Recreation is a comedy tv show which stars Amy Poler as the main character, Leslie Knope.
Leslie Knope is a lively government official who works in the Parks Department of Pawnee. Although
Parks and Recreation is a comedy tv show, Leslie Knope displays insight into misogyny, sexism,
gender equality and government sexual politics, particularly in an office place. Before we were aware
of the cliche yet degrading storyline of girls fantasizing of finding the perfect man to marry, the media
produced a majority of their films based on that specific plot. The media portrayed the woman
depending on a man to sweep her off her feet and to live happily ever after. One major example is the
story of Cinderella. The book ended happily ever after only when Cinderella had found her prince?
Finding a man solely for living a comfortable life without any worries is in fact risky and foolish.
Dependence on a man is futile because you are indeed responsible for your own life. Leslie Knope
challenges this idea by focusing all of her time furthering her career and improving life in the Town of
Pawnee. In no way does Leslie show any signs of achieving a happy and ... Show more content on

women is familiar with and the commonly yet demeaning characteristic women are expected to be,
submissive. She challenges those ideas by volunteering to work at a garbage truck in order to fight

Factors Going Into The Afghan War
Introduction
Conflicts exist in all sizes. There are conflicts between neighbors about trees, there are conflicts
between children about toys, there are conflicts between politicians about opinions, and there are
conflicts between nations. A conflict, in essence, is a disagreement. Conflicts vary. Some are like the
China/Norway conflict after a Chinese criminal got the Nobel Peace Prize thanks to his fight for
democracy. China boycotts Norway in trading, while Norway doesn t see the problem as the Nobel
Committee is independent and not controlled by the state. Other conflicts are more serious, like the
one between the U.S. and Afghanistan (Taliban). After 9/11, USA entered Afghanistan to find Osama
bin Laden, whom Taliban was protecting. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tensions begin
In September 2001, nearly 3000 were killed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The man behind was said to
be Osama Bin Laden, the leader of al Qaeda, and there was major international pressure on Afghan
leaders to hand over Bin Laden. When Afghanistan refused, the U.S. decided to use armed forces, and
in October they initiated aerial attacks, targeting al Quaeda fighters as well as the Taliban. In
November 2001 the Taliban were overthrown by the Northern Alliance, an Afghan fighter group, with
the aid and support of the U.S., as well as other countries including the United Kingdom, and the
Northern Alliance gained control over Kabul.
Current Situation
Twelve years later, Afghanistan remains a dangerous place, and British, as well as other countries
troops are still present in Afghanistan, fighting the Taliban, who continue to carry out surprise attacks,
causing deaths amongst both armed forces and civilians. Afghanistan is torn by chronic instability;
after being subject to decades of conflict its economy and infrastructure is in ruins, many Afghans are
refugees, and the government struggles to extend authority beyond the capital, and there is little sense
of national unity.
Parties Involved
In the Afghanistan war, the two main involved parts are the Taliban and the NATO countries. The
Taliban had been ruling Afghanistan for several years, and they did not want to just give their power to
the intruders. Their goal is

Torture Flaws
The Hordes of Genghis Khan and the British Government may appear completely different. However,
when examined with a trained eye, one will find that they do share one major similarity. That being
their extensive use of torture. Now, in this day and age torture is quite the hot button topic, this is
especially true with the recent possibility of the US going back into torture. Although some may think
America can use torture, it is ultimately foolish for the U.S. to utilize this brutal tactic, as it proves to
be a Monkey s Paw for the entire nation. Security of Nation As widely condemned as torture is, some
do argue that, despite its myriad of flaws it does achieve results. An example, these supporters
commonly use is that since the Bush Administration (2001 2009) allowed it there has been a
tremendous absence of terror attacks within the US. Thus seemingly proving that torture was the real
reason that terror attacks stopped in the US. However, this mentality carries copious flaws along with
it. The main one being that since the Obama Administration(2009 2017) stopped using torture there
has been tranquility as well (Gutting, McMahan 17). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This causes multiple famous anti torture supporters to collectively agree, that Torture is justifiable,
only when used to protect others (Gutting, McMahan 5). So in theory, if someone planted a bomb in
Times Square and the only way for the authorities to find it was to use torture, then in that scenario, it
s alright because it s saving the lives of others. However, while this type of analogy may work for
other situations, but it does not work in the defense of torture. This is due to the fact that countless
reliable sources have given valid examples of information being gained without the need to use
torture. Such as the men who helped locate Saddam Hussein by using non violent interrogation

Research Paper On Marfan Syndrome
Marfan syndrome is a genetic disorder. A mutation, or change, in the gene that controls how the body
makes fibrillin causes Marfan syndrome. Fibrillin is a protein that plays a major role in your body s
connective tissue. Most people who have Marfan syndrome inherit it from their parents. If you have
the condition, you have a 50 percent chance of passing the altered gene to each of your children.
Sometimes Marfan syndrome isn t inherited. The mutation in the fibrillin gene occurs in the egg or

The Reality Of Reality Television Essay
Reality television is now one of the most consumed television genres broadcasted to the general
public. Reality television has become more about mindless watching and creating the most unrealistic
environment possible, rather than creating a show for an important purpose. Today, shows like Beauty
and the Geek, Big Brother, and every other reality show fit into this mold, but when viewed critically
lessons appear. In the case of TV today, reality shows depict an altered reality because of the
unrealistic situations this genre presents. Firstly, Beauty and the Geek claimed they conducted the
ultimate social experiment, and yet is still considered as a show in the genre of reality TV. Since
Beauty and the Geek subsisted as a social experiment, altered variables, such as the environment,
influenced participants to conduct themselves in a different way than how they would behave on a
regular basis in reaction to the stimuli the show provided. Contestants altered their behavior by
sharing a bed with a stranger, and they acted friendly because they were now living with strangers in a
home with cameras, so they felt they needed to impress. Beauty and the Geek is comparable to Big
Brother because they were both filmed under altered conditions. For Big Brother specifically, the
contestants participated under a much more controlled environment by being locked into a compound
that was cut off from the rest of the outside world. This meant no TVs, phones, computers, etc., which

practice to research endangered sea turtles. Their hypothesis was that people would be able to
accurately, reliably, easily be able to distinguish individual sea turtles using natural markings. The
researchers prediction is that if people use photo identification then they will be able to determine
individual sea turtles by matching the markings in the picture to the sea turtle.

able to observe the turtles. This experiment will help science because photo identification will be a

1. The question that the researchers are trying to answer is why the diets of minke whales changed.
Their hypothesis is higher sea temperatures caused minke whales diets to change. They predict that
rising water temperatures caused the preferred food source of minke whales to decrease therefore
causing the minke whale s diet to change.
2. The basic experimental design was that over 5 years researchers caught minkle whales and within 3

Future Development of Telepathology
With telemedicine becoming so popular in the healthcare system, it is not surprising that telepathology
is also becoming more and more popular. Technology has been, and continues, to improve on a regular
basis. Telepathology is not a new concept in the telemedicine arena. Even with the wide availability to
doctors and physicians, there has been a slow adoption of telepathology in everyday practice. High
operating and maintaining costs used to be the main reason physicians gave for not accepting
telepathology, but now most of the negative attitudes are contributed to the lack of education and clear
guidelines (Cross, 2002, p. 14) for new incorporators of telepathology. There is no secret that the
current system has problems, including incompatibility within systems, and the expensive
microscopes that are dedicated to telepathology, but future developments are being researched and
produced to help offset the high costs. Low cost internet solutions, videoconferencing, integrated
digital pathology workstations, and virtual microscopes are just a few of the developments in the
works. Low Cost Internet Solutions One of the most ideal situations for the future of telepathology
would be the creation of one universally compatible system that wouldn t require expensive
microscopes to be dedicated exclusively for the field of pathology (Cross, 2002). Professor Peter
Purness and Dr Jeremy Rashbass researched the vision described above. They discovered that creating

Pan s Labyrinith by Guillermo del Toro
The narrative of the film Pan s Labyrinth by Mexican film director Guillermo del Toro, is told from a
real world perspective as well as a mythical world perspective. These two narrative perspectives from
both the mythical world and the real world are juxtaposed together by using Ofelia in a fashion that
allows the two perspective narratives to develop in an interfaced manner as the film progresses. Pan s
Labyrinth is a film that is primarily set in the territory of fascist Spain on the military base of Captain
Vidal. The film s story revolves around a pregnant mother and her daughter Ofelia. Ofelia and her
mother are traveling through the mountains of Spain to reach Captain Vidal s military base. Ofelia is a
young girl with a wild imagination, as well as a diverse engrossment with fairy tale, books, and

Power Of Personal Production By 3d Printing
Power of Personal Production Imagine that you could design a three dimensional object as quickly as
it would take to decide on material and computer design: this idea is what created the technology of
3D printing. From the conception of 3D printing in 1984, to the first stem cell transplant, 3D printing
has evolved from a sci fi like idea to a realistic addition in individual consumer lifestyles. Now instead
of relying on large manufactures to produce a special or specific good, the consumer has the power of
this production in their own home, creating individuality through cost productive methods of
production. When you produce something yourself instead of purchasing it, that changes your
relationship to it, says Chelsea Schelly, assistant professor of social sciences, of 3D printing. You are
empowered by it. This empowerment is about to spur on a new industrial revolution in the
manufacturing and distribution cycle. In essence, this printing revolution will encourage the individual
to create, innovate, and fabricate their own personal design. In order to obtain a clear understanding of
the increasingly popular scientific technology of 3D printing, it is necessary to research the history,
current discoveries, and applications; however, maybe the most important topics to be discussed are
the future directions, possible hazards, and intentions of this industry.
Although printing has been around for centuries, the beginnings of three dimensional printing can be

Santa Monica Mountains Essay
The range mapped in the Santa Monica Mountains is limited on the south by Hollywood, on the north
by the San Fernando Valley, on the west by Cahuenga Pass and Dark Canyon, and on the east by the

which recognised the injustices which had been done to Indigenous Australians involved in the Stolen

Zeolite with an iron loading of 0.11% was used in a set of experiments to determine the possibility of
using zeolite in conjunction with Fenton s reagents in order to destroy p Cresol in an aqueous solution.
The results were compared to a homogenous system at a pH of 2.5 using iron salt with an equivalent
iron concentration of iron amended zeolite and the rate of degradation in the heterogeneous system
using the iron amended zeolite was found to be half. The area of interest would be to use this zeolite at
neutral pH, and it was found that the rate of degradation using the iron amended ... Show more content

Iron (II) reacts with hydrogen peroxide to produce a hydroxyl radical and is oxidized to Iron (III).
Upon decomposition of a second hydrogen peroxide molecule, a superoxide radical is produced and
Iron (III) is reduced back to Iron (II). The contaminants are primarily destroyed by the hydroxide
radical, as it is highly reactive and oxidative (2). As iron precipitates above a pH of 3, the reaction
halts, as the iron ions are not available to participate in this reaction. This renders the use of Fenton s
Reagents impractical, as it would require large amounts of acid to lower the pH to the range required
for this reaction. It would also require large amounts of base to raise the pH to a permissible value
required for discharge. This introduces large costs, and makes the process cost prohibitive. In order to
overcome this limitation, it was found that iron amended zeolites could be used to destroy chemicals
in water at nearly neutral pH (3).
Figure 1. Fenton s Reaction producing radicals while cycling iron.
Zeolites are materials composed of silica and alumina that contain micropores capable of adsorbing
chemical compounds. Zeolites are employed primarily to sorb contaminants from water and then
shipped off site. The zeolite must then be regenerated by a thermal process or through the use of an
advanced oxidation process, such as Fenton s Reagent. By varying the

Oliver Twist Is Saturated With The Evil Of Men
Charles Dickens Oliver Twist is saturated with the evil of men (and women) who seek to destroy the
purest of things the innocence of a child. The majority of the characters in this novel are driven by
greed, power (over the less fortunate) and pure evil non more so than Mister Bumble, the cruel,
pompous old beadle of the poorhouse where Oliver is raised, and Fagin, a loathsome reptile of a man.
While each of these men will succumb to some level of depravity, as will the other characters, young
Oliver Twist does not. Against all odds, Oliver is the only one who remains untainted by the evil that
surrounds him all times. Despite the heartbreaking revelation of his parents demise, dealing with the
loss of them both, the ill treatment he receives on a daily basis, existing in a world completely void of
light and permeating with corruption, Oliver never adopts the pervasive nature of those around him.
The infestation, which eventually consumes all those around him, is something that Oliver Twist was
able to avoid due to his purity of self.
From the moment of his birth, Oliver Twist is besieged by pure evil, and while he grows up without
knowledge of what being good is like, having never seen it, having never experienced it, he is able to
maintain a level of morality that most of the adults around him cannot. His disposal into the
workhouse, an institution original designed to help the poor but has been transformed into a house of

Define Mistaken Behavior
Assignment 1. Define mistaken behavior and misbehavior . Compare and contrast the two, and explain
the value in having an understanding of developmentally appropriate practices and how can help
teachers guide young children?
Mistaken Behaviors
Mistaking behavior is a comprehensive guidance that professional teachers are developing to assist
children through difficult situations. This guidance approach recognizes that children are in a process
of development where they are learning skills to live in a democratic life, during this process children
has many mistakes that are reflected at their behavior. The importance of this this concept is that
teachers can understand that children can make mistakes, and they can learn from them. Instead,
teachers and caregivers are the principal guidance for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Maybe they feel hungry, sick or tired. They have lack knowledge or experience. They feel stressed
(something wrong or new is happening at house).
Misbehavior
This discipline concept suggests that the children are doing intentional mistakes and teachers must
discipline and punish to the child. At this wrong guidance teachers label children who misbehave
calling names such as naughty bad mean rowdy , and also punish the child. Teachers who do this
practice think that when the child get shame they will be behave good. These negative labels can
affect with bad consequences to their behavior. The child will believe that they are the wrong label
given.
As Ginott wrote in Teacher and Child (1972), Firmness without harshness is essential in guidance. The
adult who intervenes in the face of mistaken behavior often must be firm, but must be firm and
friendly not firm and harsh . The goal is to help children learn positive social skills from their
mistakes; punish discipline cannot achieve this.
Compare and contrast of Mistaken behavior and

Economic Crisis In The United States
The near collapse of the financial system in the United States was the most substantial economic crisis
in the U.S. since the Great Depression of the 1920s and 1930s. Since the crisis began in late 2007,
more than 6 million Americans had lost their jobs, large and important financial institutions failed, and
trillions of dollars in savings and retirement accounts had been lost. It is generally accepted that
problems in the United States housing market are at the root of the current United States and global
financial crisis. Regardless the causes and responsibilities, what is clear is that the result is a seriously
weakened global financial system. It is important to thoroughly study the causes and consequences of

financial crisis, some questions had formed. Are the credit losses behind us? So far it seems that our
economy could see more problems with residential real estate. The chance that shocks related to
commercial real estate, industrial loans, and consumer credit cards could arise and cause an even
worse problem. If the U.S. markets experience losses in any of these areas similar to what was
experienced, the problems could resurface. When did the job markets recover? In June of 2009, the
national unemployment rate stood at 9.5% with 14.7 million Americans unemployed^^. With the rate
of unemployment so high, many consumers would not have had the funds to pay for mortgage and
credit card obligations. Consumer spending accounts for about two thirds^^ of the GDP(What is the
GDP). That ultimately means that the economy needs Americans to spend more to maintain economic
activity, which means that the government had to create jobs and opportunities to the unemployed.
Have any other institutions fail during this time of crisis? Large financial corporations such as
Citigroup and Bank of America appeared to have survived the crisis. Yet, smaller institutions like JP
Morgan had a few concerns about their financial status, but there is still an uncertainty to the security

Christmas Descriptive Writing
On that momentous Christmas Eve of 2013, daubs of ashen grays, splattered specks of lapis, careless
streaks of pale lavender, and muted, chalky whites were smeared across the blank canvas sky, barely
concealing the cold, distant stars. The sliver of the moon that was shaped as though it were a narrow,
shining claw, was tied to the edge of a low hanging cloud with a thin, wisp of a string. Millions of the
beautiful feathery, ice crystals were brutally thrown toward the Earth, onto the frosted, dead grass,
where they joined their companions in a heap of broken, mangled snowflakes. For the ecclesiastical
holiday, scintillating lights were intertwined with newly bought, plastic reindeer scattered across the
yard, along with a snowman with a crooked, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

rectangular object ingeniously wrapped, with two red ribbons interlaced to one another into my hands.
Carefully, I had untied the bow, and tore off the wrapping paper. In the container was a thick book,

The Exodus Research Paper
The date of the Exodus was an extremely interesting topic and has lead me to further research and
study. This has led me to another issue and what I will be writing about in the following paper. The
problem on deciding details of the Exodus comes not just with disagreement on dates, but also with
lack of harmony amongst several scholars about the facts of Egyptian history. To discover or get even
a little bit closer to the date at which the Israelites fled Egypt, one must get a better understanding of
Egyptian history, and the discrepancies in between.
Biblical Context
The Israelites came to Egypt through a man named Joseph, and his story can be found at the end of
Genesis in chapters 37 50. He was a famous man in the land of Egypt, and was a friend to the
Pharaoh, or king. Genesis 41:41 45 says:
So Pharaoh said to Joseph, I hereby put you in charge of the whole land of Egypt. Then Pharaoh took
his signet ring from his finger and put it on Joseph s finger. He dressed him in robes of fine linen and

The Bible says that he grew up amongst the Pharaoh s family and as a man he committed a crime and
fled Egypt. While he was away, the Pharaoh died and he returned at the command of God to assist in
freeing God s people the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. Through Exodus 13, God works on Pharaoh
s hard heart through a series of plagues, each challenging different aspects of the Egyptian religion.
Eventually, a plague that takes away the firstborn of the people of Egypt who did not believe in and
follow God resulted in the Israelite release and exodus from Egypt. Finally, after hundreds of years of
living in bondage to the people whom they were once aligned, the Israelite nation is free to go to the
land God had promised them. Now the question is, when did this historical event take place, and who

Essay On Signs Of A Hidden Mice Infestation
Signs Your Home Is Infested With Mice And How An Inspection Helps Get Rid Of Them You can
have an infestation of mice in your home and never see one of the creatures darting around, but they
will leave clues. If you do see the mice, especially during the daytime, that could indicate you have a
particularly bad infestation. Whether you ve seen mice or not, you should take steps to eliminate them
since they are unsanitary pests. Start with an inspection by a rodent professional. Here s when to
suspect you have a mouse problem and why having a professional inspection is important. Signs Of A
Hidden Mice Infestation Mice are usually most active at night when activity in your home has settled
down. When your home is otherwise quiet, you may hear their claws scraping inside the walls as they
scurry around. They might make chirping or squeaking noises. You can even hear them gnawing on
wood or other objects. Noises may come from the attic, behind walls, inside the cupboards, or behind
the refrigerator. If the mice are particularly active, you may hear them knock things off shelves and
tables as they hunt for food. Besides unusual sounds, bad odors are another indicator of a mice

This is vital because their entry points must be sealed or the mice will keep coming back. Another part
of the inspection is to look for mice droppings and signs of damage. This helps the inspector

include walking around the perimeter of your home looking for signs of activity where the mice enter
as well as inspecting the inside of your home in secluded areas such as inside cabinets and in the attic.
With all the information gained during an inspection, the pest control company can devise an effective

Chapter 8
Advantages
VoIP phone service providers o er many advantages to the residential and small oce/home oce
user. If you have a high speed internet connection then choosing a VoIP phone service might be right
for you.
1. Low Cost :
This technology leads to greater nancial savings. This happens because there exists only one
network carrying the voice and video provided by only one supplier. If you have a broad band Internet
connection (DSL or cable), you can make PCtoPC phone calls anywhere in the world for free. If you
wish to make a PC to phone connection, there s usually a charge for this but probably much cheaper
than your regular phone service. You can pay as you go or you can sign up with a VOIP service

Low Taxes :
Since the calls are being carried over the Internet, governments have not heavily taxed VoIP phone
services. Compare that to your local telephone bill (go ahead and take a close look) and you will see
you are spending quite a bit on taxes each month. Therefore, choosing a
VoIP provider could add up to signi cant savings for you and your family.
3. Portability :
One important concept to understand about VoIP is that unlike its forefathers (lets call them
PSTN for now), it is not distance or location dependent. As far as VoIP is concerned, you could be
calling your supplier 1,000 miles away in Indonesia or calling your business partner on the other end
of town, and it doesnt make any di erence at all, in terms of connectivity and cost. You can make and
receive phone calls wherever there is a broadband connection simply by signing in to your VoIP
account. This makes VoIP as convenient as email if you are traveling, simply pack a headset or
Internet phone and you can talk to your family or business associates for almost nothing.
4. No extra cables, no extra cost :
A VoIP phone number, unlike your regular phone number, is completely portable. Most commonly
referred to as a virtual number, you can take it with you anywhere you go.

Democracy In The American Democracy
From the early 1840s to the present day, a democracy can be described as a flawed establishment
which has been shaped by the power of wealth and control, complex social relations, and most
importantly the people s desire to live a fulfilling life. Throughout this time period the principles of
democracy, such as equality, protection of the people s interest, and promotion of human rights were
shifting in order to increase the democracy efficiency. Therefore the continued importance of the Bill
of Rights, the Declaration of Independence, and Constitution remain significant since, in American
today, democracy is a system that is continuously being shaped by the people within it. Plato s
impression of democracy which was intellectualized around 384 B.C.E is rather different from the
present day understanding of democracy and the power of wealth. As an aristocrat himself, according
to Plato When the poor win, the result is a democracy. (Plato, p.58). In other words, Plato believed that
only kings were authorized to rule its society, whereas regular everyday people were perceived as
ferocious and unable to govern. Plato s awareness of democracy was established when he realized
ordinary people were not born to lead, that only the elite people had the utmost respect, and right to
rule over the lower class. Furthermore, the concept of power and wealth continues to be a crucial stand
point in society s then, and now since the exercise of democracy is known to be a political affair.

Similarities Between Martin Luther And The Praise Of Folly
Martin Luther s Concerning Christian Liberty and Desiderius Erasmus The Praise of Folly are about
the different lines of attack on the Catholic Church. Martin Luther was a North German Augustinian
friar, a Catholic priest, and a professor of theology who protested the abuses in the Church and called
for reform. Erasmus was German by birth, interested in acts of good, wanted to find common factors
between reason and Christianity, focused on the bible in its original papal form, believed in human
correct ability, and did not believe in original sin. He highly criticized the Catholic Church at this time
and called for reform, as well. They both attacked the Roman Catholic Church in their works;
however, Martin Luther wanted reformation in practice and doctrine, while Erasmus wanted a moral
reformation in the Church. Concerning Christian Liberty and The Praise of Folly were written in the
early 1500 s and they both focused on the subject area of religion.
Martin Luther poked at the Church practice of the sale of indulgences, which was the full or partial
grant of the forgiveness and pardoning of the penalties of sin. He did this with the 95 Theses. The 95
Theses were ideas that Luther posted on the Church doors in Wittenburg, Germany stating that he
wanted the Catholic Church to change their current corrupted ways. To Luther, the sale of indulgences
made a mockery of God s gifts, so he took a stance against the abuses of the Church with his work.
The situation surrounding the theses were the activities of the Roman Catholic Church. The Catholic
Church was highly criticized by Luther in his work because it became too powerful and there was
corruption in the system. The Church became less religious and became more of a political entry,
making the Church ruthless. Luther believed that the Church should become concerned about the
general well being of the Catholic people and that salvation should be for everybody, not for the
people who buy their way in using indulgences. In Concerning Christian Liberty, he discussed the
wrongs, like corruption, of the Catholic Church to Pope Leo X. You see, however, which is called the
Court of Rome, and which neither you nor any man can deny to be more corrupt than Babylon or

DNA contains short sections of genes at regular intervals which store genetic information, this is
known as the genetic code. The genetic code is the sequence of bases in the gene which will code for a
particular protein. The genetic code is read in terms of triplets, every three bases is a triplet which
codes for one amino acid. The genetic code is translated by reading each triplet in turn whilst
assembling the chain of amino acids based on the triplets [ 4 ]. So it other words the genetic code
determines the sequence of amino acids, and depending on the sequence of amino acids a protein is
produced. Any small change such as a change in one of the bases can result in a protein not working as
it should and can therefore be harmful. The body can create 20 amino acids itself, all of which are
coded for by the base sequence in the DNA. Three bases code for one amino acid therefore you have
64 triplets (codon s) that code for 20 amino acids, 3 of those triplets are stop codon s (UGA,UAA,
UAG) which signal the end of the genetic code, they do not code for an amino acid. And there is one
start codon which signals the beginning of the genetic code. However if the start codon (AUG) is

The Pharmacological Treatments For Opiates, Drugs, And Drugs
In this essay, the effectiveness of the pharmacological treatments for opiates, nicotine, cocaine, and
alcohol in relation to addiction relief and prevention will be critically evaluated. This will be
accomplished through an investigation of the respective substances and their current treatment s
methods and levels of success, such as the use of Substitution Therapy, agonist and antagonist
treatments, and preventative drugs. Furthermore, the generation of directions for future research and
treatments will be performed, particularly assessing the potentiality for remedying addiction through
substance tailored vaccinations and suggestions for solidifying a scientifically accepted methodology
for the treatment of cocaine dependency.
Concurrently, pharmacological treatment efficacy has been assessed heavily within academic texts.

a laugh from their audience, but to also make a point to their audience. Humor is a defense mechanism
that most comedians use to cope with problems they have had in their past or issues they have with the
world. Christopher Titus is an Emmy Award winning comedian. Christopher Titus did not grow up in
your ideal house. His parents were divorced, his mother, Juanita had schizophrenia and eventually
committed suicide. His dad, Ken, was in and out of relationships and divorced five times. His sister,
Kirsten, also committed suicide. Christopher Titus was an alcoholic himself until one day he fell into a
bonfire and almost died. Christopher Titus If anyone, by law, should be forced to take antidepressants

The poem is an apology to her parents.
In the first two stanzas, she is talking directly to her parents. The speaker is apologizing to her parents
for the work that she placed out and saying she is sorry for not doing better than what she had just
done. I apologize/ for disappointing you. is her saying she is sorry. She also said three lines over and
over again, which were not good enough , not pretty enough , and not smart enough . Those three
things made her not feel she was good enough and it psyched her bad enough to not continue with life.
At the end of the second stanza, she says in my father s dream which automatically shows that she is
doing it for her family. She was given an opportunity to bring more honor to her family by going to
college and graduating it, but sadly she was not able to get that far. She thinks that she brought
dishonor to her family by not being able to keep her perfect four point grade average. It is not easy at
all to keep it there so she must have done a great job to get that far, but not even that was able to
please her parents and making

starting state can be described when he writes, rocky meadow with blue lupine and red poppy

he knows the colors and the boxes he has to check. But, even with the knowledge, he was equipped

Cases of Overcoming Hardship
Hardship is something everyone must overcome at some point in their lives. Everyone deals with
hardships differently. It is harder for some people to recover from hardship because of their family,
friends, or even because they can t find the will within themselves to deal with hardships. It would be
easier for someone who is naturally determined and strong willed to overcome things because they
have a inbred ability to conquer their fears and leave behind whatever it was that was making their life
unbearable. If parents don t support their kids decisions, such as Jeannette going to New York, then
that can make it harder to triumph over things they struggle with. If friends don t encourage someone
to go on and make something better of themselves, they will hold them back and they will be stuck in
the life everyone expects them to live. Many parents support their children to learn from their mistakes
and make better choices than what they made when they were a kid and even now. Friends can be a
huge part in trying to get over things that they are struggling from. With the right support and help
from them it makes it that much easier to overcome hardships. The person struggling must find it
within themselves to be a better person each day. Not everyone has the same chance of recovery, but
that doesn t mean that they can t do it. They may just have to worker harder, but that means the reward
will be that much better. Jeannette started from the bottom, in a small town with an

Aristotle s Value Of Happiness
Human beings spend a lifetime finding the meaning of life and what makes us happy. In Aristotle s
Nicomachean s Ethics, Aristotle gives his own wisdom to his son, Nicomachean on how to achieve the
end goal of life which is happiness. He explores this virtue of happiness through many other
characteristics and virtues. One of the characteristics, Aristotle explores for one to be happy is
moderation. Overindulgence in food, sex, and drinks can lead to dangers in one s life. To obtain
happiness and live a complete life, one must be moderate.
Aristotle asserts that moderation is a mean with respect to pleasures (Aristotle 62). Aristotle takes into
account both the body and soul when discussing pleasures. What gives a person pleasures? In many
cases, food, drinks, sex, listening to one s favorite music, and even hanging out with friends can give
someone pleasure. Overindulgence of pleasures of the body (food, drink, and sex) is limited compared
to the soul (honor and learning) which is unlimited. Aristotle makes the argument that when a person
takes enjoyment in the smelling of apples, roses, or incense (Aristotle 64) they are not licentious since
that smell could remind that person of a past encounter that could signal desire (Aristotle 64).
Aristotle then compares human to animals with the direct reference to a lion; where a lion does not
receive desire because it smells the meat of a cow, but because the lion knows that it will take pleasure
in eating the cow s meat

Negative Connotation In My Papa s Waltz
While it is true that My Papa s Waltz uses what would be perceived as negative connotation, it does
not necessarily define the story. As much as the average reader would think that this story is about
abuse, that was not the author s intention. Theodore Roethke wrote this poem with nothing but
fondness for his father; however, many still believe that as uninspired as that message of abuse may
be, there could still be a reason for it to be there. Being a poem gives it that pull that allows it to be
interpreted both ways. You could say that both sides of the poem were meant to be present but that s
just not as satisfying. It seems that with My Papa s Waltz people are one way or the other, no in
between. Even if somebody were to know the history of the author which involves his much praised
father, it s possible that they might still think the story is of abuse. While the subject of My Papa s
Waltz by Theodore Roethke has spurred passionate academic debate from professors, scholars, and
students alike, the imagery, syntax, and diction of the poem clearly support the interpretation that
Roethke writes My Papa s Waltz as a nostalgic ode to his father. Roethke wanted to express the
fondness he had for his father as a child even though his dad was not perfect.
While one researches Roethke s past for the poem they might learn some interesting information in
regards to his father and how the time period might change the context for lines that may have been
taken too

The Cost of Turnover
The Cost of Turnover
Putting a Price on the Learning Curve by Timothy R. Hinkin and J.BruceTracey
Employee turnover does more than reduce service quality and damage employee morale—it hits a
hotel’s pocketbook.
E
mployee turnover has long been a concern of the hospitality industry, and therefore of researchers who
examine industry human resources concerns. One stream of research that arose in the past 20 years
was an effort to quantify the cost of employee turnover. Although most managers agreed that turnover
was bothersome, calculating a dollar figure for employee departures would provide those Timothy R.

The lodging industry sees fierce competition, with new products and branding strategies vying for the
dollars of increasingly demanding consumers. Technologically, the industry has made tremendous
progress in revenue management systems, computerized reservations, and POS systems, and we can
only hazard a guess what the internet will eventually mean to the lodging industry. Virtually all jobs
have been altered by technology and downsizing, and hotel employees have more to learn and do than
they did two decades ago. The demographic characteristics of the workforce have changed, and in
many markets most of the people considered employable are already employed. With predictions of
labor shortages to come, competition for qualified employees will only increase, making employee
retention an important managerial objective. A recent stream of research has empirically demonstrated
a significant relationship between sound human resources practices and financial performance.3 For
example, a recent study by Delerey and Doty found that three HR practices— namely, results oriented
perform mance appraisals, employment security, and profit sharing—were strongly related to return on
equity and other financial measures of a firm’s

Presidential Election Of 1988 Pitted Vice President
The election of 1988 pitted Vice President George H.W Bush against Massachusetts Governor
Michael Dukakis. Coming off the back of President Reagan s second term, Vice President Bush
needed to build on the sense of optimism that Reagan had instilled and make a case for continuity.
Governor Dukakis on the other hand had to try and paint himself as good alternative to some of the
pitfalls of President Reagan s later years. Coming off an economic collapse, insider trading scandals,
and a growing drug problem, there was no shortage of material for ad agencies to work with. The ads
from 1988 paint a picture of an overall negative race, even when compared to 2016 s charged election,
while also producing some of the most infamous and effective ads in campaign history. Judging from
the ads alone, 1988 would be seen as a negative campaign. While both candidates had positive ads, the
most remembered from this election year are three negative ads put out on the Republican side. The
fact that the three most memorable all came from one side speak to a difference in production quality
as well. Based solely off the ads, the Republican party seemed to have the most unity of message as
well as a coherent plan. Two of the three big ads have to do with Governor Dukakis s record on crime.
The first, run only once by and developed by a PAC, talked about Willie Horton, a convicted murderer
who was furloughed under the Massachusetts system. While furloughed, he escaped and then
assaulted a man

Reflective Style Of Writing
Before I started this course, my writing was standard, and I had not yet developed skills that have
made me the exceptional writer I am presently. I have improved as a writer by utilizing these skills
and developing my own style of writing. Some of the skills I have learned are critical thinking,
locating scholarly research, supporting opposing viewpoints, writing for a variety of audiences,
drafting my own writing, improving on grammar, punctuation, and mechanics. Showing these skills
throughout the assignments I have written in GSW 1110, proves that I am prepared to not only move
on to other college writing courses but also to use the skills to influence change in the workplace and
the community. Discovering, using and acknowledging, both textual and visual, from scholarly
electronic databases was a challenge that I have overcome throughout this course. Research is an
important part of some essays, therefore, because I have learned how to properly research, I am ready
to pass this class and use this skill in my future. When writing the essay, Arguing a position, I was
uncertain of how to create a reference page in MLA format. I had a difficult time finding which
information went into a citation, as well as how to format a citation in the text. With the help of my
instructor and several websites, I was able to figure out how to accomplish this task. By the time I
wrote the essay, Proposing a solution, I was able to make a reference page without the help of my

Istj Personality Analysis
Succeeding in academics can be affected greatly by your personality. Being an ISTJ and having
sensing and judging as my two main personality traits certainly has both its up and downs. Ever since
I was a child, I have always been responsible, orderly, and statistical, and as time passed, these traits
become a natural habit. I see this as a strength since it had helped me significantly in my studies, but
some of these traits also restrict my creativity and often makes it difficult for me to look outside the
box. Sensors are great problem solvers, so when I am faced with a problem, I attempt to use the
information I have available to come up with the best solutions. Emotions rarely ever influence my
conclusions and perceptions, and I place a great deal of trust in my judgement, which is based mostly
off of logic and reasoning. I do not make assumptions, and instead, I prefer to observe my
surroundings and take a practical, well planned course of action. This causes me to have little
tolerance and patience for indecisiveness and intuitive judgments; I prefer to analyze the information
available and make a decision quickly. On the other hand, because this trait is so idealistic ... Show

The amount of effort that I put in my work makes me slightly sensitive to criticism, leading to an
irritating level of inflexibility. Putting my stubbornness aside, I am possibly one of the most
productive members in a group; I respect those in authority, and if needed, I can personally take
charge in a group. Punctuality will also never be a problem, either in terms of showing up to a meeting
or class on time, or in terms of finishing work for certain deadlines. While I may need clearly set steps
and well defined responsibilities, I am particularly devoted, dedicated, precise, and patient in
completing my

The History of Nursery Ryhmes Essay
The History of Nursery Ryhmes
When you think of nursery rhymes, do you think of innocent, silly games you played as a child? Think
again. Most of the nursery rhymes that have become so popular with the children were never intended
for them. Most began as folk songs or ballads sung in taverns. These songs (rhymes) all most always
were written to make fun of religious leaders or to gossip about kings and queens (Brittanica pars. 1
5). Nursery rhymes are being studied the past few decades as a way to help children learn their
alphabet and numbers. These rhymes have been proven affective in helping children s language skills
improve. As I began to explore different nursery rhymes, I found that they opened up and disclosed

There are eight categories of rhymes: Lullabies (Rock a bye Baby,) singing games (London Bridges,)
nonsense (Hey Diddle Diddle), riddles (Humpty Dumpty), counting
(One, Two, Buckle my Shoe), tongue twisters (Peter Piper), verse stories (Queen of Hearts), and
cumulative rhymes (House that Jack Built) (Pars. 5). According to the World Book Encyclopedia the
earliest known published collection of nursery rhymes was Tommy Thumb s SongBook in 1744, but
in 1697 there was a book published in France called Tales of Mother Goose. This book contained eight
fairytales including Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, and Sleeping Beauty. The most influential
collection was Mother Goose s Melodies: or Sonnet s for the Cradle published in 1781 (616 617).
More than two hundred years since the first book of rhymes was published, interest in children and
fantasy is again running high. The nursery rhyme now represents the oral history of hundreds of years
and how understanding the struggles of authority and occasional mischief by the common people
made with moral conventions and emotional expectations as well as with language. Often anonymous,
such rhymes share interesting characteristics both in content and in linguistic patterning across a huge
range of cultures. The origins and purposes of many nursery rhymes have evolved over time, and
many people do not realize what the

  • 2. Citizen Kane Themes Moreover, the movie Citizen Kane is not a defined as a Christian movie, however, it depicts the King Solomon s teachings from the book of Ecclesiastic. The end of the movie showing a group of journalists pounding at Xanadu palace, taking pictures and chatting about the vainness of finding the meaning of Rosebud , is much related with the following verses of the Ecclesiastes 2:7 I possessed flocks and herds larger than all who preceded me in Jerusalem. Also, I collected for myself silver and gold and the treasures of kings and provinces and Ecclesiastes 6:7 All human work is for the mouth, but the soul is not satisfied. In fact, the life of Kane is much like the life of King Solomon, a man whose own lust for power, riches, and pleasure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This movie is filled with series of magnificent shots creating a fascinating plot. For instance, a setting that vividly portrays the theme of the movie is Kane s palace, Xanadu, where the film director purposely chooses to show it at the beginning and at the end of the movie. This setting alludes that riches and power cannot buy or substitute love and Kane, throughout his life, never detains that most of the things he aspires so badly do not replace for what he could not perhaps get, the love of his mother and the loss of childhood. Another great examples of how setting can play a huge role in describing the theme of the movie are the following: the candidate Kane gaining control of New York Inquirer newspaper and running for governor of New York, the young boy playing in snow as his parents determine his future, and building a massive opera house for his second wife, black smoke blowing out the chimney of Xanadu palace. Overall, the film director chooses settings and events like these to realistically show Kane s changes from innocent young man to a wealthy egocentric ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Federalism Of The United States Americans utilize the Federalism idea as putting into effect the Constitution for Federal, State, and Local governments. These areas are served as different areas with different needs and goals within the federalist theory. The National Government has expressed powers over the nation and subjects that effect our nation. The State has limited powers that are involved within the State s boundaries. The local government is expressed to help regulate the states. All together the governments make one unitary system that can metaphorically be described as a cake. The breakup of federalism started out being broken up in layers, like a layer cake, with distinct separated powers of National government and State. Accordingly, as the New Federalism ... Conversely, Antifederalist were afraid to give into signing the constitution in favor of the Federalist ideas because they felt it would grant too much power to the National Government instead of the States. The dispute between the Federalist and Antifederalist lead to, what is known today, as a breakthrough of famous Federalist Papers that lead to the greater understanding of the Constitution. The Federalist Papers appeared as persuasive writings developed by what we know today as historical figures that make up the founding fathers of the ratification of the Constitution. The writings of the Federalist argued that they held the privilege to secure the government to favor the economy. The Federalist wrote to convince the public in the newspapers that their views and actions would create a perfect balance and protect the Nation s people. On the other hand, Anti Federalist opposed ratification of the Constitution in favor of the federalist ideas. The Antifederalist persuaded that the Federalist would favor slavery, and people s rights would be in danger. The two groups feuding created an important factor in the U.S. Constitution. Like so, the Federalist considered the Antifederalist ideas and managed to compromise a Bill of Rights to be added to the Constitution in favor of absolute security to people s rights ... • 4. Economy Introduction The legislation process of Anti Monopoly Law has been indeed a long journey. The new AML is a tremendous leap forward for China, bringing China into the modern world of antitrust and competition law. The law, which aims to prevent dominance of any one company, was first proposed in 1994. But its pace was slow until 6 years later because of pressure from big state owned companies and multinationals that had just started doing business in China. It wasn t until 2001, when China joined the World Trade Organization, did the process accelerate. In August 2007, the law was finally passed by the National People s Congress. Monopolistic competitive firms produce products that are not perfect substitutes or are at least perceived to be different to all other brands products. Unlike in perfect competition, the monopolistic competitive firm does not produce at the lowest possible average total cost. Instead, the firm produces at an inefficient output level, reaping more in additional revenue than it incurs in additional cost versus the efficient output level. There are several kinds of monopolistic practice as follow * Dumping can refer to any kind of predatory pricing. However, the word is now generally used only in the context of international trade law, where dumping is defined as the act of a manufacturer in one country exporting a product to another country at a ... • 5. Female Polar Bears Polar bears are a unique animal all their own. Male polar bears have a versatile diet and foraging strategy compared to female polar bears, which is proving helpful with recent climate changes. Throughout this paper, the foraging techniques of male and female polar bears will be discussed along with increasing climate temperatures and how it is affecting polar bears. Male polar bears are more versatile when foraging for food compared to female polar bears. Thiemann et al. (2011) found that males would have a wider range in food selection due to the size of the adult male polar bears giving it a greater opportunity to hunt larger animals. Therefore the males could better forage because of more options available to them. Thiemann et al. (2011) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since the ice is slowly breaking away, it is causing a negative effect for polar bears and their foraging ability by not allowing an area for hunting of ringed seals (Elvin, 2014). Rockwell and Gormezano (2009) talk about how the breaking apart of the ice disrupts the amount of time the polar bears have for hunting seals which in return is causing the polar bears to travel to land sooner. Rockwell and Gormezano (2009) state that as the polar bears are coming to shore sooner, they are interfering with the hatching season of snow geese. Due to the polar bears intruding on the nests, this gives the polar bears the opportunity to consume the offspring of the snow geese and obtain any energy still required (Rockwell and Gormezano, 2009). Even though the polar bears may not get the energy they need from seals, they are still able to get it by other means because of the climate changing. Overall, male and female polar bears have their own ways of hunting and foraging. Although the females have their physical limitations due to size or their cubs, they still find a way to survive like the males do by feeding off carcasses and hunting. Climate change is the other limiting factor that is changing the way polar bears forage, but is also providing new ways as well through nesting grounds. A popular example of how music can dramatize a movie is the movie Jaws. In the beach scene alone there are multiple times that music added to the viewing experience. Parts that I will mention includes the music when the shark was approaching the boy, when the camera zoomed in on Martin Brody, and when the parents were frantically grabbing their kids. One of the early periods was the Eastern Woodland period (800 200 BCE) which led to the mound emergence and when the Middle Woodland period (c. 200 BCE AD 400) started, the mounds became more significant for ritual and spiritual meaning widespread (Scarre 681: 2013). Adena and the Middle Woodland societies traded throughout the land such as the southern Appalachians and the Great Lakes. They would trade artifacts like marine shells, whelks, and pipestones (ibid 682). Most of the Middle Woodland artifacts were actually found in Ohio though it was evident that people would travel long distances to different destinations. During the Late Woodland period (AD 400 1000), mounds were coming to an end in some areas as well as long distance trades. Population didn t cease to grow and stretched through the Midwest and Southwest. The villages that separated into owning more land where it was farther from river access started to cultivate native plants but they only lasted a few years (ibid 684). When the trading system of non local materials started to die, weapons began to emerge such as arrowheads, bows and arrows for hunting. Tension between villages rose which then led to fighting and death which then also led to the formation of militarized groups by the end of the first millennium (ibid 686). Leslie Knope is a lively government official who works in the Parks Department of Pawnee. Although Parks and Recreation is a comedy tv show, Leslie Knope displays insight into misogyny, sexism, gender equality and government sexual politics, particularly in an office place. Before we were aware of the cliche yet degrading storyline of girls fantasizing of finding the perfect man to marry, the media produced a majority of their films based on that specific plot. The media portrayed the woman depending on a man to sweep her off her feet and to live happily ever after. One major example is the story of Cinderella. The book ended happily ever after only when Cinderella had found her prince? Finding a man solely for living a comfortable life without any worries is in fact risky and foolish. China boycotts Norway in trading, while Norway doesn t see the problem as the Nobel Committee is independent and not controlled by the state. When Afghanistan refused, the U.S. decided to use armed forces, and in October they initiated aerial attacks, targeting al Quaeda fighters as well as the Taliban. • 11. Torture Flaws The Hordes of Genghis Khan and the British Government may appear completely different. However, when examined with a trained eye, one will find that they do share one major similarity. That being their extensive use of torture. Now, in this day and age torture is quite the hot button topic, this is especially true with the recent possibility of the US going back into torture. Although some may think America can use torture, it is ultimately foolish for the U.S. to utilize this brutal tactic, as it proves to be a Monkey s Paw for the entire nation. Security of Nation As widely condemned as torture is, some do argue that, despite its myriad of flaws it does achieve results. An example, these supporters commonly use is that since the Bush Administration (2001 2009) allowed it there has been a tremendous absence of terror attacks within the US. Thus seemingly proving that torture was the real reason that terror attacks stopped in the US. However, this mentality carries copious flaws along with it. Reality television has become more about mindless watching and creating the most unrealistic environment possible, rather than creating a show for an important purpose. Today, shows like Beauty and the Geek, Big Brother, and every other reality show fit into this mold, but when viewed critically lessons appear. In the case of TV today, reality shows depict an altered reality because of the unrealistic situations this genre presents. Firstly, Beauty and the Geek claimed they conducted the ultimate social experiment, and yet is still considered as a show in the genre of reality TV. Since Beauty and the Geek subsisted as a social experiment, altered variables, such as the environment, influenced participants to conduct themselves in a different way than how they would behave on a regular basis in reaction to the stimuli the show provided. Contestants altered their behavior by sharing a bed with a stranger, and they acted friendly because they were now living with strangers in a home with cameras, so they felt they needed to impress. Beauty and the Geek is comparable to Big Brother because they were both filmed under altered conditions. • 16. Future Development of Telepathology With telemedicine becoming so popular in the healthcare system, it is not surprising that telepathology is also becoming more and more popular. Technology has been, and continues, to improve on a regular basis. Telepathology is not a new concept in the telemedicine arena. Even with the wide availability to doctors and physicians, there has been a slow adoption of telepathology in everyday practice. High operating and maintaining costs used to be the main reason physicians gave for not accepting telepathology, but now most of the negative attitudes are contributed to the lack of education and clear guidelines (Cross, 2002, p. 14) for new incorporators of telepathology. There is no secret that the current system has problems, including incompatibility within systems, and the expensive microscopes that are dedicated to telepathology, but future developments are being researched and produced to help offset the high costs. Low cost internet solutions, videoconferencing, integrated digital pathology workstations, and virtual microscopes are just a few of the developments in the works. Low Cost Internet Solutions One of the most ideal situations for the future of telepathology would be the creation of one universally compatible system that wouldn t require expensive microscopes to be dedicated exclusively for the field of pathology (Cross, 2002). Power Of Personal Production By 3d Printing Power of Personal Production Imagine that you could design a three dimensional object as quickly as it would take to decide on material and computer design: this idea is what created the technology of 3D printing. From the conception of 3D printing in 1984, to the first stem cell transplant, 3D printing has evolved from a sci fi like idea to a realistic addition in individual consumer lifestyles. Now instead of relying on large manufactures to produce a special or specific good, the consumer has the power of this production in their own home, creating individuality through cost productive methods of production. When you produce something yourself instead of purchasing it, that changes your relationship to it, says Chelsea Schelly, assistant professor of social sciences, of 3D printing. You are empowered by it. This empowerment is about to spur on a new industrial revolution in the manufacturing and distribution cycle. In essence, this printing revolution will encourage the individual to create, innovate, and fabricate their own personal design. In order to obtain a clear understanding of the increasingly popular scientific technology of 3D printing, it is necessary to research the history, current discoveries, and applications; however, maybe the most important topics to be discussed are the future directions, possible hazards, and intentions of this industry. The results were compared to a homogenous system at a pH of 2.5 using iron salt with an equivalent iron concentration of iron amended zeolite and the rate of degradation in the heterogeneous system using the iron amended zeolite was found to be half. The area of interest would be to use this zeolite at neutral pH, and it was found that the rate of degradation using the iron amended ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Iron (II) reacts with hydrogen peroxide to produce a hydroxyl radical and is oxidized to Iron (III). Upon decomposition of a second hydrogen peroxide molecule, a superoxide radical is produced and Iron (III) is reduced back to Iron (II). The contaminants are primarily destroyed by the hydroxide radical, as it is highly reactive and oxidative (2). As iron precipitates above a pH of 3, the reaction halts, as the iron ions are not available to participate in this reaction. This renders the use of Fenton s Reagents impractical, as it would require large amounts of acid to lower the pH to the range required for this reaction. It would also require large amounts of base to raise the pH to a permissible value required for discharge. This introduces large costs, and makes the process cost prohibitive. In order to overcome this limitation, it was found that iron amended zeolites could be used to destroy chemicals in water at nearly neutral pH (3). Figure 1. Fenton s Reaction producing radicals while cycling iron. Zeolites are materials composed of silica and alumina that contain micropores capable of adsorbing chemical compounds. Zeolites are employed primarily to sorb contaminants from water and then shipped off site. The zeolite must then be regenerated by a thermal process or through the use of an advanced oxidation process, such as Fenton s Reagent. By varying the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Democracy In The American Democracy From the early 1840s to the present day, a democracy can be described as a flawed establishment which has been shaped by the power of wealth and control, complex social relations, and most importantly the people s desire to live a fulfilling life. Throughout this time period the principles of democracy, such as equality, protection of the people s interest, and promotion of human rights were shifting in order to increase the democracy efficiency. Therefore the continued importance of the Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence, and Constitution remain significant since, in American today, democracy is a system that is continuously being shaped by the people within it. Plato s impression of democracy which was intellectualized around 384 B.C.E is rather different from the present day understanding of democracy and the power of wealth. As an aristocrat himself, according to Plato When the poor win, the result is a democracy. (Plato, p.58). In other words, Plato believed that only kings were authorized to rule its society, whereas regular everyday people were perceived as ferocious and unable to govern. Plato s awareness of democracy was established when he realized ordinary people were not born to lead, that only the elite people had the utmost respect, and right to rule over the lower class. Furthermore, the concept of power and wealth continues to be a crucial stand point in society s then, and now since the exercise of democracy is known to be a political affair. ... • 35. Similarities Between Martin Luther And The Praise Of Folly Martin Luther s Concerning Christian Liberty and Desiderius Erasmus The Praise of Folly are about the different lines of attack on the Catholic Church. Martin Luther was a North German Augustinian friar, a Catholic priest, and a professor of theology who protested the abuses in the Church and called for reform. Erasmus was German by birth, interested in acts of good, wanted to find common factors between reason and Christianity, focused on the bible in its original papal form, believed in human correct ability, and did not believe in original sin. He highly criticized the Catholic Church at this time and called for reform, as well. They both attacked the Roman Catholic Church in their works; however, Martin Luther wanted reformation in practice and doctrine, while Erasmus wanted a moral reformation in the Church. Concerning Christian Liberty and The Praise of Folly were written in the early 1500 s and they both focused on the subject area of religion. Martin Luther poked at the Church practice of the sale of indulgences, which was the full or partial grant of the forgiveness and pardoning of the penalties of sin. He did this with the 95 Theses. The 95 Theses were ideas that Luther posted on the Church doors in Wittenburg, Germany stating that he wanted the Catholic Church to change their current corrupted ways. To Luther, the sale of indulgences made a mockery of God s gifts, so he took a stance against the abuses of the Church with his work. The situation surrounding the theses were the activities of the Roman Catholic Church. The Catholic Church was highly criticized by Luther in his work because it became too powerful and there was corruption in the system. The Church became less religious and became more of a political entry, making the Church ruthless. Luther believed that the Church should become concerned about the general well being of the Catholic people and that salvation should be for everybody, not for the people who buy their way in using indulgences. The genetic code is the sequence of bases in the gene which will code for a particular protein. The genetic code is read in terms of triplets, every three bases is a triplet which codes for one amino acid. The genetic code is translated by reading each triplet in turn whilst assembling the chain of amino acids based on the triplets [ 4 ]. So it other words the genetic code determines the sequence of amino acids, and depending on the sequence of amino acids a protein is produced. Any small change such as a change in one of the bases can result in a protein not working as it should and can therefore be harmful. The body can create 20 amino acids itself, all of which are coded for by the base sequence in the DNA. Three bases code for one amino acid therefore you have 64 triplets (codon s) that code for 20 amino acids, 3 of those triplets are stop codon s (UGA,UAA, UAG) which signal the end of the genetic code, they do not code for an amino acid. • 43. Cases of Overcoming Hardship Hardship is something everyone must overcome at some point in their lives. Everyone deals with hardships differently. It is harder for some people to recover from hardship because of their family, friends, or even because they can t find the will within themselves to deal with hardships. It would be easier for someone who is naturally determined and strong willed to overcome things because they have a inbred ability to conquer their fears and leave behind whatever it was that was making their life unbearable. If parents don t support their kids decisions, such as Jeannette going to New York, then that can make it harder to triumph over things they struggle with. If friends don t encourage someone to go on and make something better of themselves, they will hold them back and they will be stuck in the life everyone expects them to live. Many parents support their children to learn from their mistakes and make better choices than what they made when they were a kid and even now. Friends can be a huge part in trying to get over things that they are struggling from. With the right support and help from them it makes it that much easier to overcome hardships. The person struggling must find it within themselves to be a better person each day. Not everyone has the same chance of recovery, but that doesn t mean that they can t do it. They may just have to worker harder, but that means the reward will be that much better. Jeannette started from the bottom, in a small town with an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Aristotle s Value Of Happiness Human beings spend a lifetime finding the meaning of life and what makes us happy. In Aristotle s Nicomachean s Ethics, Aristotle gives his own wisdom to his son, Nicomachean on how to achieve the end goal of life which is happiness. He explores this virtue of happiness through many other characteristics and virtues. One of the characteristics, Aristotle explores for one to be happy is moderation. Overindulgence in food, sex, and drinks can lead to dangers in one s life. To obtain happiness and live a complete life, one must be moderate. Aristotle asserts that moderation is a mean with respect to pleasures (Aristotle 62). Aristotle takes into account both the body and soul when discussing pleasures. What gives a person pleasures? In many cases, food, drinks, sex, listening to one s favorite music, and even hanging out with friends can give someone pleasure. Overindulgence of pleasures of the body (food, drink, and sex) is limited compared to the soul (honor and learning) which is unlimited. Aristotle makes the argument that when a person takes enjoyment in the smelling of apples, roses, or incense (Aristotle 64) they are not licentious since that smell could remind that person of a past encounter that could signal desire (Aristotle 64). Aristotle then compares human to animals with the direct reference to a lion; where a lion does not receive desire because it smells the meat of a cow, but because the lion knows that it will take pleasure in eating the cow s meat ... • 46. Negative Connotation In My Papa s Waltz While it is true that My Papa s Waltz uses what would be perceived as negative connotation, it does not necessarily define the story. As much as the average reader would think that this story is about abuse, that was not the author s intention. Theodore Roethke wrote this poem with nothing but fondness for his father; however, many still believe that as uninspired as that message of abuse may be, there could still be a reason for it to be there. Being a poem gives it that pull that allows it to be interpreted both ways. You could say that both sides of the poem were meant to be present but that s just not as satisfying. It seems that with My Papa s Waltz people are one way or the other, no in between. Even if somebody were to know the history of the author which involves his much praised father, it s possible that they might still think the story is of abuse. While the subject of My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke has spurred passionate academic debate from professors, scholars, and students alike, the imagery, syntax, and diction of the poem clearly support the interpretation that Roethke writes My Papa s Waltz as a nostalgic ode to his father. Roethke wanted to express the fondness he had for his father as a child even though his dad was not perfect. While one researches Roethke s past for the poem they might learn some interesting information in regards to his father and how the time period might change the context for lines that may have been taken too ... E mployee turnover has long been a concern of the hospitality industry, and therefore of researchers who examine industry human resources concerns. One stream of research that arose in the past 20 years was an effort to quantify the cost of employee turnover. Technologically, the industry has made tremendous progress in revenue management systems, computerized reservations, and POS systems, and we can only hazard a guess what the internet will eventually mean to the lodging industry. Virtually all jobs have been altered by technology and downsizing, and hotel employees have more to learn and do than they did two decades ago. The demographic characteristics of the workforce have changed, and in many markets most of the people considered employable are already employed. With predictions of labor shortages to come, competition for qualified employees will only increase, making employee retention an important managerial objective. • 48. Presidential Election Of 1988 Pitted Vice President The election of 1988 pitted Vice President George H.W Bush against Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis. Coming off the back of President Reagan s second term, Vice President Bush needed to build on the sense of optimism that Reagan had instilled and make a case for continuity. Governor Dukakis on the other hand had to try and paint himself as good alternative to some of the pitfalls of President Reagan s later years. Coming off an economic collapse, insider trading scandals, and a growing drug problem, there was no shortage of material for ad agencies to work with. The ads from 1988 paint a picture of an overall negative race, even when compared to 2016 s charged election, while also producing some of the most infamous and effective ads in campaign history. Judging from the ads alone, 1988 would be seen as a negative campaign. While both candidates had positive ads, the most remembered from this election year are three negative ads put out on the Republican side. The fact that the three most memorable all came from one side speak to a difference in production quality as well. Based solely off the ads, the Republican party seemed to have the most unity of message as well as a coherent plan. Two of the three big ads have to do with Governor Dukakis s record on crime. • 49. Reflective Style Of Writing Before I started this course, my writing was standard, and I had not yet developed skills that have made me the exceptional writer I am presently. I have improved as a writer by utilizing these skills and developing my own style of writing. Some of the skills I have learned are critical thinking, locating scholarly research, supporting opposing viewpoints, writing for a variety of audiences, drafting my own writing, improving on grammar, punctuation, and mechanics. Showing these skills throughout the assignments I have written in GSW 1110, proves that I am prepared to not only move on to other college writing courses but also to use the skills to influence change in the workplace and the community. Discovering, using and acknowledging, both textual and visual, from scholarly electronic databases was a challenge that I have overcome throughout this course. Being an ISTJ and having sensing and judging as my two main personality traits certainly has both its up and downs. Ever since I was a child, I have always been responsible, orderly, and statistical, and as time passed, these traits become a natural habit. I see this as a strength since it had helped me significantly in my studies, but some of these traits also restrict my creativity and often makes it difficult for me to look outside the box. Sensors are great problem solvers, so when I am faced with a problem, I attempt to use the information I have available to come up with the best solutions. Emotions rarely ever influence my conclusions and perceptions, and I place a great deal of trust in my judgement, which is based mostly off of logic and reasoning. I do not make assumptions, and instead, I prefer to observe my surroundings and take a practical, well planned course of action. • 51. The History of Nursery Ryhmes Essay The History of Nursery Ryhmes When you think of nursery rhymes, do you think of innocent, silly games you played as a child? Think again. Most of the nursery rhymes that have become so popular with the children were never intended for them. Most began as folk songs or ballads sung in taverns. These songs (rhymes) all most always were written to make fun of religious leaders or to gossip about kings and queens (Brittanica pars. 1 5). Nursery rhymes are being studied the past few decades as a way to help children learn their alphabet and numbers. These rhymes have been proven affective in helping children s language skills improve. As I began to explore different nursery rhymes, I found that they opened up and disclosed some of ...
