Clarus Consulting Group Business Analysis
Our group decided to explore the operations of a local small business called Clarus Consulting
Group. The business was founded in 2004 and currently has three locations, but their main office is
in Birmingham, AL. The other two offices are in Atlanta, Georgia and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
Clarus specializes in managerial consulting for a wide variety of clients including non profits,
private companies, small and large sized companies. While management consulting is the main
service, they also offer strategic planning, team development, and individual coaching. Throughout
this paper we are going to explore the company s current operations and analyze their operations
management practices, procedures, and policies. Projects often involve... Show more content on

Inputs would be time from the consultants, data gathered from the surveys, interviews, and focus
groups, and resources used for the transformation. Once all of the data is gathered and the
problem is clear, main themes can be identified. During the engagement with the client to deliver
the findings, stakeholders will often join the meetings. During the process, all participants are
able to become a part of the strategic process and this helps to win support from the participants.
Using the tactics described above will allow companies to: increase employee involvement, get
everyone involved in the decision making, and allow companies to understand what is needed by
this customer. Clarus takes a team approach when working on projects. All employees are
involved in the process. The output varies depending on the agreed upon contract between Clarus
and the client. Some clients get a full report, survey analysis, and implementation assistance if a
strategic plan was developed. Some clients prefer simpler results and receive notes from their
meeting with Clarus. Strong communication is imperative in the consulting process, so clients are
always provided with a high level of debriefing of what was accomplished and discussed at the

The Hitchhiker s Guide To The Galaxy By Douglas Adams
One of the literary highlights of my life has been reading The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy
by Douglas Adams. The short novel is packed with tons of humor, not leaving any joke untold.
However, despite being by far the funniest book I ve ever read, it discusses some fascinating
subjects, both philosophically and scientifically. Because Hitchhiker s Guide is such a fantastic
book, I propose a course based around discussing the topics covered in the book and learning
about the science and philosophy behind the book. The course would allow for in depth
discussions of a plethora of topics like time travel and even the existence of God. It would be great
for honors students because it would take advantage of their natural urge to learn and debate as well
as teach students about material that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, discussing a whale appearing in the sky and subsequently falling to the earth
(which happens in the book, if you haven t read it), would allow for discussion on both the
probability of random events (like a whale appearing in the sky) and life philosophy. Aside from
discussing the topics discussed by the book, the course could take a literary turn and discuss the use
of humor and writing of the book. Douglas Adams has a unique sense of humor, which is largely
dominated by dry, absurdly matter of fact statements. This would add a literary perspective to a
course that already discusses STEM and philosophical subjects. Part of the course would require
reading The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy, as well as reading The Science of the Hitchhiker s
Guide to the Galaxy by Michael Hanlon, a book that discusses the same things the course would,
and would give students a jumping off point for class discussions. This course would offer multiple
interesting topics for everyone, and would foster intellectually stimulating

Essay On The Trend Of Technology In Business
Running head: TECHNOLOGY
The Trend of Technology in Business and Everyday Life
Khristina Bell
Bethel University
The trend of technology is continuing to rise as the economy continues to change. Some aspects of
society and our individual lives are also influenced by technology in many direct and indirect ways,
including governance, entertainment, human relationships, and our views on morality, mind, matter
and our own human nature (Patil, 2017). All of the aspects listed play a huge role in the trend of
technology changing as society does.
Everyday technology is being used at the learner s current employer plays a major role in getting

Several employees have complained about their computers freezing, systems running slow and in
some cases even shutting down. Information technology is an essential tool for the average
information professional today, and ongoing research is needed to assess technological directions
of the field over a period of time. The most popular technologies are email, office productivity
tools, web browsers, library catalogs, database searching tools, and printers (Maceli Burke,
2016). The problem at Adams Keegan is the amount of advanced technology that we have
compared to the amount of clients we provide services to. All of the technology features listed
are all a part of what is used on a daily basis. Not having access to certain technology during
certain times of the day can sometimes hinder what the staff is trying to accomplish. For example,
there are only a certain amount of scanners located in our department. Clients can request that
documents be scanned to them at any given moment. If a person in payroll for example is
scanning checks it can take a while to be able to use the scanner and get back to your client in time.
An obvious benefit to technology in businesses is increased productivity, other benefits that can
help are improved speed, the ease of sharing and storing information and a decrease in human error
through automation add up to a reduction in costs

The Most Important Aspects Of Family Values
Everyone has values that they consider to be the most important aspects of their life. For me, these
values are family and friendship. In many occasions, it is those who have less, but have strong
familial and friendship bonds that seem to be the happiest. Through family bonds and friendship,
we are able to have happy, fulfilling lives that money and success can not quite achieve. In the
CASL building, during the photowalk, I observed my surroundings to find the photos that I took. In
the photos I took, a Macbethposter and a quinceaГ±era, we can see why I feel that these bonds are
of utmost importance. The Macbeth poster shows that power comes with a price and cannot bring
true happinessthrough the facial expression and the skull being in the shape of a crown. While the
quinceaГ±era photo shows that having familyand friends surrounding you can bring you happiness.
However, the music videos that were viewed in class display different values from my own. In
these, the core values displayed are black empowerment and bringing awareness to discrimination
that the African American community face as a whole. Although these are vastly important, they
do not connect fully with my values.
In the first photo taken, we are able to see why family and friendship are the most significant
values. The photo is of a quinceaГ±era that is taking place at the Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic
Church. In the photo, we see the girl being blessed by the priest while all of her family and friends

Eleven By Sandra Cisneros Analysis
In Eleven, Sandra Cisneros focuses the narrative on an embarrassing moment in the life of the
main character. This moment occurs on her eleventh birthday when she is being blamed for a
ugly red sweater and is stunned by her lack of confidence and social skills so she can t (won t)
say the sweater is not hers. Through Rachel s description of the incident, we can confirm more
information about her that we wouldn t have otherwise known. We can confirm is is very
opinionated, she is more mature in her head then when really speaking by her acting, and we can
confirm that she has a theory about being all ages. This is hinted and stated throughout the story,
that being ... that stupid Sylvia Saldivar says,.. which sounds like Rachel doesn t like Sylvia and

Human And Technological Aspects Of Cyber Threats

In an age of rapidly expanding data and highly skilled threat actors, technological advancements
present the urgent duality of great opportunity and great risk. A universities data is integral to both,
and a critical asset that differentiates organizations. While it is impractical to completely lock it
down and yet it is open, use can threaten the organization s existence. The challenge for IT team
security leaders is striking a delicate balance being security aware and remaining business driven.
The human and technological aspects of cyber threats changed dramatically in the past year.

Security Authentication Four processes are in the security authentication process. These steps are: 1)
Identification, 2) Authentication, 3) Authorization, and 4) Accountability.
It is vital to integrate these four steps into any network intended to be secure. Properly configured
a secured network will be able to protect itself from attacks like PW hacking, DDOS attacks, brute
force attacks, and insiders abusing their system rights (internal and external). Identification is the
first of the four steps in this process. Any user that expects to gain access to a system referred to as
a supplicant, and the tool that every user who gains entry to the network, referred to as an Identifier.
The identifier can have many different methods for identifying the supplicant. The identifier should
be able to locate the users credentials from a database of unique information that determines the
supplicants identity. The most common form of verification is done using the employees first and
last name. In case there are
Coworkers with common names, such as John Doe, employee Id s or Social Security numbers are
utilized. In most companies, they are no longer using the employee s Social Security number to
identify them in their system. They are replacing them with an employee ID. This reduces the
information that a network intruder (also known as a hacker) or another employee gaining access

Biological Causes Of Anorexia
There are many causes behind why people suffer from anorexia. The first one would be that it is
genetics that involves the risk for some sort of eating disorder. This would make a person more
vulnerable to having this mental illness more than someone without these genetic factors. Another
common cause is that someone in a person s family suffers from anorexia. This allows a person
to become adjusted to this mental illness, thinking of it as a social norm. They don t understand
the risk factors involving anorexia. Although social media does have an effect on some types of
eating disorders, it has been proven that anorexia is indeed a biological illness, and the best
treatment that can come from this is a biological approach. If the case of genetics being strictly

This is why eating disorders are listed as the most deadly mental illness over anything else. I found
out a number of treatments that can help a person who suffers from anorexia. However, for those
that actually choose to get treatment, the very first thing that should occur is the treatment of the
symptoms, which means that whatever their body is lacking they should be provided the right care
for that specific function. The example that Bradford also uses in her article is that if a person is
dehydrated, that s the first step that should be fixed behind the treatment. When the symptom has
been noted, next would come the action. The action would be to help the person in need to boost
their weight up. However, these treatments aren t just physical, they require a much need for
mentally stabilizing them as well. This is indeed an emotional disorder that requires psychological
help. The patients who go through therapy can then receive antidepressants or any other sort of
medication that their body needs in order to stabilize their brain

Perception Of The Truth In The Necklace By Guy De Maupassant
Perception of the Truth
What would you do if you lost something of great value that did not belong to you? In the short
story The Necklace by Guy de Maupassant, Madam Loisel says No... there s nothing more
humiliating as looking poor in the middle of a lot of rich women. In this passage Madam Loisel
was worried about how people would perceive her at the party. I the story was about a couple
who was not very wealthy unlike most of their friends. The wife got invited to a very fancy
affair and refused to go unless she had a fancy dress to wear. After receiving all the money her
husband had saved up he still complained about not looking up to par with the rest of the guests.
She then wanted a nice piece of jewelry. She borrows a diamond necklace from one of her friends.
She enjoys herself at the affair, but on the way home loses the necklace. The couple then borrows
money from everyone they knew to purchase a replacement for thirty six thousand francs. After
returning the replaced necklace she then had to work the next ten years to pay off all the money
they had borrowed. She then found out the necklace that was lost was only an imitation. The long
term hardships of the main characters are based upon the false perception of the truth. Madam
Loisel felt that if she didn t go to the affair looking rich then they would see her different, such as
poor. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Brief Summary Of The Book The Gift By Mauss
In the book The gift , Mauss demonstrates how in all societies, individuals should have the rights
and freedom to choose whether they want to give gifts, however, he notices that giving gifts are
compulsory in most societies. Mauss speaks about a study that explains how giving gifts is done
as a whole rather than between individuals. The gifts were not only materialistic such as
possessions and prosperity but through festivities and events such as rituals and dances. These
type of gifts resemble peace, respect, and honor. Mauss describes this as a system of total services
which indicates that the gifts represented are beneficial to the whole society through reciprocation.

Also, another form of gift giving is the kula trade which is seen as a prestige and a honorable
trade held in reserve for the chiefs only in the tribe. When gifts are given to chiefs, it needs to be
passed on from chief to chief after a specific period of time. Mauss explains different types of
terms for different gift giving. One of the many terms he mentions, the term kudu which means
that a gift must be given and must be reciprocated at an equal value. The three important rules
that need to be followed in a Potlatch is to give, to accept and receive, and to reciprocate. If any
of the rules are broken, a punishment comes along with it in a form of slavery. Mauss speaks as
well about different religions and cultures and about their gift giving. He explains in the law of
Hindu that the gift given to an individual is beneficial to their present life and in their next life.
Through Mauss s observations, he has realized that not everything is surrounded around the idea of
business and selling, it is more than that. It is about kindness, communal service, unity, cooperation

How Did Dwight D Eisenhower A Visionary And Ethical...
Dwight D. Eisenhower When people think about Dwight D. Eisenhower, they immediately
point to his command over the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force (SHAEF),
give him accolades for winning the war in Germany, and place special emphasis on his
contributions to Operation Overlord. However most individuals never think beyond this point.
How was a Colonel with no combat experience promoted to General and tasked to lead over the
other notable combat commanders in Europe? This essay will explain why General Eisenhower
was a visionary and ethical leader whose attributes fused the Allies into one integrated unit that
enhanced their combat effectiveness in the European Theater of Operations. It will put his
visionary leadership on display by discussing how Eisenhower believed diversity is a military
necessity when he incorporating Generals from multiple allied nations into his senior staff. Then
explain how he set an example for all subordinates to follow through idealized influence. Next, it
will discuss how Eisenhower displayed healthy skepticism and avoided the ethical trap of loyalty
syndrome by aggregating and investigating information during the Battle of the Bulge and
removing resources from a field commander who failed to maneuver before the enemy.
Additionally, personal relevance will be incorporated as I discus how I used the visionary
leadership characteristics of diversity is a military necessity and idealized influence to effectively

Summary Of Bilingual Childhood By Richard Rodriguez
Approximately 37 million people speak both English and Spanish in the United States and have
experienced a feeling of discrimination or rejection. Richard Rodriguez s memoir called Aria: A
Memoir Of A Bilingual Childhood demonstrates this with a personal experience. This memoir was
taken from the book Hunger Of Memory which was originally published in 1982 . The events in
this memoir occur specifically in the 1900s, when the author was a young boy, entering an
American schoolfor the first time. One of the main issues displayed in his memoir is when
Rodriguez recalls being labeled as a problem student being a Hispanic American student in an all
white school. Another issue displayed in this memoir is the difficulties he had had to learn
English meantime he felt more comfortable with Spanish. Being discriminated and not being able
to adapt to two different languages is a struggle more than half of the world deals with. This is
truly a serious issue because this could potentially be the origin of socially feeling uncomfortable.
The purpose of this memoir was to tell the reader that individuality can come from both one s
private and public communities, but that does not mean that one loses himself. The audience
attracted to this memoir are foreigners in America. This memoir is directed to immigrants and other
foreign people who have experienced the same difficulty of learning a new public language in
America. Rodriguez wrote in his memoir about the struggles he

The Success Of The Moon Landing
The 1969 Apollo 11 mission, which was the first landing on the moon. This mission can be seen as
a success and/or a failure. Although not all agree it was a success due to the lives lost, it was an
accomplishment for mankind, because of the success of the actual moon landing. Due to the high
attraction of the moonlanding, there were many articles on the 1969 Apollo 11mission. Many of
these texts were very efficient in its appeals and in achieving its purpose.
In the first article, Man Takes the First Steps on the Moon, the speaker is the Times of London and
some mentioned are; Neil Armstrong, President Nixon, President Saragat of Italy, and other
leaders. The 1969 Apollo 11 mission was a success and keeping everyone on their toes. The
primary audience for this text was those who are interested in the moon landing. Its appeals to
pathos were effective due to the emotional and excitement of the moon landing. For example, ...
our deep wish for a safe return at the end of what has been a most historic scientific achievement in
the history of man. This explains how much of a breakthrough the moon landing was causing
emotions of what else mankind can do. Following this would be the appeal to ethos, That s one
small step for man but one giant leap for mankind. Having these appeals together make the impact
of the accomplishment of mankind even more of an excitement.
Following this great accomplished, a tragedy could have come. During a time of tragedy, we search

Burnside. He was not in command for long because he didn t shine in his opportunity against the
Confederates in the Battle of Fredericksburg. After a crushing defeat at the battle of
Fredericksburg, the Union made a quick change of command by appointing Major General

Wealth Distribution and William Domhoffs Wealth, Income,...
In William Domhoff s article, Wealth, Income, and Power, he examines wealth distribution in the
United States, specifically financial inequality. He concludes that the wealthiest 10% of the United
States effectively owns America, and that this is due in large part to an increase in unequal
distribution of wealthbetween 1983 and 2004. Domhoff also states that the unequal wealth
distribution is due in large part to tax cuts for the wealthy and the defeat of labor unions. Most of
Domhoff s information is accurate and includes strong, valid arguments and statements. However,
there is room for improvement when identifying the subject of what is causing the inequality.

William Domhoff s claims in the article Wealth, Income, and Power, are, for the most part, very
strong. He makes strong statements regarding the concentration of wealth in the United States, and
backs them up with good sources throughout. The statistics used are valid, and consistent among
many trusted sources. The only area where Domhoff s argument falls short is when he references
the causes of wealth inequality. In this portion, his argument is a bit weak and could be
strengthened by considering other important factors effecting wealth concentration, rather than
limiting it to two seemingly all important issues. Overall, upon examination of Domhoff s ideas and
sources, he presents an accurate and fairly strong argument about the unequal distribution of wealth
in the United States.

Siddhartha Character Analysis
In Siddhartha by Herman Hess, Siddhartha views himself as determined, optimistic, and wise.
Siddhartha sees himself as determined due to his on going search for enlightenment. Siddhartha s
father watches his son, Again from hour to hour, silent, peered into the room, saw the unmoved
stander, filled his heart with anger, filled his heart with apprehension, filled his heart with fear,
filled it with sorrow (Hess 10). Siddharthas father comes to the realization that his son will stand
outside with no food until he can join the Samanas. Siddhartha is so determined to try to find
peace that he would rather grow weak and hungry than not go with the Samanas. Along with
determination, Siddhartha sees himself as optimistic. When bad things happen, Siddhartha
chooses to see the good and make the best out of it. Siddhartha says to Kamaswami, Certainly, I
traveled for my pleasure. For what else? I became acquainted with people and places, I enjoyed
trust and friendliness, I found friendship. Now, dear friend, if I were Kamaswami, then the
instant I saw that my purchase was thwarted, I would have angrily hastened back, and time and
money would indeed have been lost (Hess 61). Siddhartha chose to make a positive experience
from his failed trip instead of a negative one. Another way that Siddhartha sees him is wise.

We Use A Gaussian Function As A Kernel Function
In order to specify the middle layer of an RBF we have to decide the number of neurons of the
layer and their kernel functions which are usually Gaussian functions. In this paper we use a
Gaussian function as a kernel function. A Gaussian function is specified by its center and width.
The simplest and most general method to decide the middle layer neurons is to create a neuron for
each training pattern. However the method is usually not practical since in most applications there
are a large number of training patterns and the dimension of the input space is fairly large.
Therefore it is usual and practical to first cluster the training patterns to a reasonable number of
groups by using a clustering algorithm such as K means or SOFM and then to assign a neuron to
each cluster. A simple way, though not always effective, is to choose a relatively small number of
patterns randomly among the training patterns and create only that many neurons. A clustering
algorithm is a kind of an unsupervised learningalgorithm and is used when the class of each
training pattern is not known. But an RBFN is a supervised learning network. And we know at
least the class of each training pattern. So we d better take advantage of the information of these
class memberships when we cluster the training patterns. Namely we cluster the training patterns

The Revolution, And The Key Causes Of The Mexican Revolution
The Mexican Revolution The Mexican Revolution began November 20, 1910, and ended on
May 21, 1920. The revolution was against the regime of Porfirio Diaz who reigned for 35 years,
after Mexico gained its independence from Spain. and was not a good president in the sense that
he failed to support the middle and lower classes of Mexico. It was run by the middle (some in the
middle (A very a little amount) and all in the lower classes, and they were all influenced by
Francisco I. Madero. Although the lower classes didn t originally full on oppose Diaz they felt
neglected as a people. Madero saw this and sought out to influence the people of the country to
revolt, so that they could then shift their views completely. Madero writes the Plan de San Luis
Potosi, which was a political document written by Madero to describe how he was wrongly
imprisoned by Diaz in order for him to lose the election. Madero also wrote the document to
spread new ideas on what democracy was, and how to eradicate corruption in Mexico s
government. With the publication of this document support for Diaz and his presidency easily
disappeared eventually causing him to resign. Madero then ran for president and won the election
properly. But he only reigned for two years before being assassinated, by none other than the
military governors, military, and lower classes because Madera failed to make any change in the
social classes. A key factor that lead to his assignation was that the

Rhino Poaching Essay
Poaching of Rhinos: A Growing Transnational Crime Industry
In 2011, the West African black rhino was declared extinct by the IUCN (International Union for
Conservation and Nature). Now all five rhino species left are in the endangers list (Poaching: The
Statistics). The reason the rhino population has nearly been driven to extinction is due to poaching.
The rhinos are being hunted and killed for their horns, which is a valued ingredient used in
traditional Asian medicines (Poaching of Rhinos in the Spotlight). In this essay, I will explore why
the rhinos are being poached, the overall impact of poaching in the rhino population, and what the
authorities are doing to deal with this profitable transnational crime industry.
At the beginning of the twentieth century, the rhino ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

because rhino horn is more expensive than most things out there. For example, one kilo of
marijuana is rated at about $5,060, one kilo of gold at about $42, 972, and a kilo of cocaine at
about $48,885. However, the value of a kilo of rhino horn is about $100,000. It is estimated that
one rhino horn can produce about $1 million dollars. This is the reason being why this is such a

Evaluating Kindergarten Teachers Perspectives About The...
CHAPTER 5
DISCUSSION
The purpose of this study was to examine Kindergarten teachers perspectives about the practice of
effective computer technology procedures and its incorporation into their current pedagogical
practices.
Study Implications
The findings for hypothesis 1 were not reinforced by conducting the linear regression. There were
numerous factors that contributed to this result. Primarily, the sum of participants hindered the
researcher s capacity to truly assemble a statistical evaluation for a linear regression. A major area
of interest, concerning this study, was finding and selecting a sample size that could be considered
considerable along with being sufficient so that it will be characteristic of the populace from
which it comes. Therefore, the researcher could center and make strong implications about the
issue of study. It can be adequately implied, for future reference, that the sample size should be
large enough so that central variances can be found in subgroups. By simply having a small
sample size, it did not contribute to effectually conducting a linear regression. In addition to the
sample size, there was a postulation that the linearity would suggest that teachers who are new to
the field would allow for a pattern to emerge. However, that was not the case in this study. By
containing such a small sample size of teachers with experience in the field of education within the
past 5 years, it refuted the capability to essentially run the

Why We Have Separate Political Parties In The 1790s
A) The founders of our nation believed that we as people have the right to be free, right to gather
and to have elected officials to represent our desires. But they were not so sure about having
separate political parties, but it seemed that there was no way around it, this issue was the reasons
for separation of one party over a few major issues. In the 1790s there were two groups of people
with opposing views on the how the government should run and set up. One of those groups was
the Federalists, who believed that the Constitution wasn t meant to be taken literally and wanted a
strong central government. The anti federalist or the Republicans, who supported the opposite.
These two groups became the first political parties.
Prior to the Constitution the country was ruled under the Articles of Confederation. These articles
gave the states most the power and left the government to be the middle man, coordinating efforts
between the states. One of the major concerns of the nation was how they were to defend
themselves since they had only state ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Impact Of The Construction Industry On The Uk Economy
Sector introduction:
Balfour Beatty Plc operates in the heavy construction sub sector of the FTSE 250. This sector is
particularly interesting given the effect recession has had on this sector and the ongoing
developments in the industry. The construction sector in the UK is unique as the output in this
sector fell faster than the whole economy in 2008. It has slipped into recession 3 times over the
past 5 years (gov.uk, 2013). Overall the recession has had a dramatic effect in the construction
contracting industry. In recent years the sector has been plagued with low customer confidence,
high unemployment and limited availability of finance. However now that the UK economy is
recovering so is the construction sector, in August 2014 the sector grew at the fastest pace for seven
months since the recession (bbc.co.uk 2014).
Government Initiatives:
Various recent measures have been undertaken by the government which are contributing to the
success of the sector. In 2011 a Localism act was introduced simplifying the planning system which
in turn incentivized growth. A growth and infrastructureact was also implemented which delivered a
further boost to the industry. The government also plans to increase its capital spending plans by
ВЈ3 billion per annum from 2015 16, meaning an additional investment of ВЈ18 billion by 2020
(gov.uk 2013). These schemes have proven successful since their implementation, planning

commencing the analysis a brief background of USC is provided. The USC, located in Los

However, according to Dennis Dougherty, the allocations followed the thumbnail methods which
were too brief even though inaccuracies were removed while using them (Merchant amp; Van der
Stede 2007). In order to gain control over the allocation of resources throughout the university and
also to balance the monies being distributed amongst the revenue centres a system of participation
/subvention was used by the university administrators. These participations were mere equal
contributions (20% of the total tuition fees, sales and service income, and indirect cost recoveries)
from all revenue centres and were redistributed back to them as block grants called subventions and
these participations were portrayed as negative and subventions as positive indirect income. These
features in fact enabled university administrators to focus on university priorities and goals. In
allocating subventions their main focus was firstly on differentials in the costs of educating
students in different fields and secondly, the revenue centres cost/quality ratios. There was a
variation in the cost of educating students from one school to another, for example, business
education is cheaper than the music education but the university tends to charge the same tuition
fees to both of them. To balance this cost disparity the subvention allocation was used. There was
also an issue with the cost/academic excellence ratios. A school that has

William Wordsworth s Lyrical Ballads
Imagine traveling down a gravel road in the countryside, set in England during the 19th Century. As
you continue your journey, you stumble across a woodland child and inquire about general
questions. Being inquisitive and intrigued by her fair beauty, queries regarding he family arise and
soon you find her concept of deathskewed. We are Seven, composed by William Wordsworth
and
published in Lyrical Ballads, is one of Wordsworth darker poems and unlike his characteristic
Romantic style. Wordsworth lost his mother at the tender age of eight, coincidentally, the same
age as the cottage girl. This poem stems from Wordsworth s personal experiences from when he
journeyed across Europe later in life and stumbled across a child near Goodrich Castle, whom is
alleged to be the muse behind this poem. The poem depicts the struggle the speaker faces as he
tries to verbalize the truth over the deceased cottage girl s brother and sister. The characterizations
regarding the speaker s social classand age in regards to his audience, the little girl, contribute to
the colliding ideology during this exchange. Wordsworth begins the scene of this poem with the
master strolling down a road in the countryside. The silence and loneliness of the poem breaks
when the man comes across a little girl frolicking alone. Before any words are exchanged, a
description of the child is given, alluding to her social standing among society. Described as having

Age Of The Enlightenment
At the start of the eighteenth century intellectual leaders attempted to understand why what had
been done in natural science could not be done in social science. The Enlightenment has been
defined in many different ways, but its broadest was a philosophical, intellectual and cultural
movement of the eighteenth century. The leaders wanted logic to be included in a worldwide since
such as used in history, politics, jurisprudence, and economics. The Enlightenment preferred to see
humanity as capable of creating its own moral code in order to help create a rational mind. The
Enlightenment also pioneered in applying scientific methods to the study of human society,

The way the world works now is all based off the Enlightenment. By furthering development in the
arts, philosophy, religion, and politics the Enlightenment has furthered our research and ideals. It
produced a set of basic principles about human affairs. Humans beings are naturally good and can be
educated to be better, (The Age Of The Enlightenment). Enlightenment thinkers attacked the
Catholic church with particular vigor. Progress was possible, even inevitable, if people could be set
free. Society s goals should center on improvements in material and social life. In culture, the
aftermath of the scientific revolution spilled over into a new movement known as the
Enlightenment, centered particularly in France but with adherents throughout the Western world.
Enlightenment thinkers continued to support scientific advance. While there were no Newton like
breakthroughs, chemists gained new understanding of major elements and biologists developed a
vital new classification system for the natural species (The Enlightenment P.1). Enlightenment
thinkers showed great interest in technological change, for greater prosperity was a valid and
achievable goal. Coercion and cruelty could be corrected, for the Enlightenment encouraged a
humanitarian outlook that was applied in condemnations of slavery and war. The Enlightenment,
summing up and extending earlier intellectual changes, became an important force for political and
social reform. It did not rule unchallenged. Important popular religious movements, such as
Methodism in England, showed the continued power of spiritual faith. Many writers, particularly
those experimenting with the novel as a new literary form in the West, rebelled against
Enlightenment rationality to urge the importance of sentimentality and emotion. These approaches,

seems more realistic because it only rains for 6 days and nights. I can t imagine it raining here for

He describes it by saying:

The large male panda s can get up to 250 pounds, and be 2 feet long. The male panda s are indeed
larger than the females. These bears can live up to 20 years in the wild. Even though, there are
environmental conflicts that are reducing their lifespan.
Reasons for the Decline of the Panda Bear
Unfortunately, for the panda bear they are on a endangered list. There are several reasons that it
is difficult for the survival of these bears. The females can ovulate during the Spring time, which
becomes a very small window for growth. They are literally only able to ovulate 2 3 days a year.
That s right. So, this is already a challenge for them. Plus, the female panda can only give birth to 2
and 1 usually dies.
They are approximately 1,600 panda bears that live in the wild all over the world. However, there
are more panda s in China than anywhere else. With this being said, and China s continual growth,
this, causes destruction to the panda s habitat. China uses bamboo for construction and therefore,
removes the main source of food for the panda bear.

The Necessity to Swap Ethnic Profiling for Behavioral...
Humanity has always strived to become more civilized . Whether it was the manipulation of fire,
the domestication of animals, the invention of electricity or the exploration of space, the goal has
always been to become more advanced than our predecessors. We think of civilization as the
opposite of brutality and we associate the former with peace and the latter with violence. For this
reason, we are unable to deem a racethat has walked on the moon as a violent race. However,
civilization doesn t abolish violence it simply removes the individual s right to be violent and
bestows it into the hands of a separate entity (like the military). (Lancaster)
Historically, civilization has demonstrated the greatest degree of violence ... Show more content on

For this reason, ethnic profiling should carry less weight in the decision making of law enforcement
agents and in the realm of criminal justice. In turn, the criminal justice system should promote the
use behavioral profiling, a more effective alternative with a lesser rate of wrongful arrests.
There is no scientific proof that links crime and race. In fact, most psychologists admit that ethnic
profiling is not scientifically reliable. (Boylan) Nevertheless, no one has attempted to eradicate it
until recently. This is because America s imprisonment rates were not rising at an alarming rate
until a couple of decades ago. Now that hyper incarceration is a problem experts have begun
searching for its root, and ethnic profiling has surfaced as a probable cause of hyper incarceration.
When you analyses the inner workings of racial profiling you find a direct correlation between the
impact of ethnic profiling and the anxiety levels of the population. In other words, as people
become more scared the likelihood that they will perform or tolerate racial profiling increases.
Fear and violence go hand in hand, and the 50 s and 60 s left America trembling with fear. During
this period we observed the height of the Cold War and the Civil Rights Movement. Apparently, the
threat of communism and the empowerment of blacks turned out to be a poor combination

Different Models Of Diagnosis And Treatment
Throughout the course of history, medical practitioners have utilized different models of diagnosis
and treatment which have encompassed a variety of factors. For instance, the biomedical model
was used for decades as the primary way to diagnose and treat illness; this model focused on effects
of anatomical, biochemical, and neurophysiological irregularities. However, since this model failed
to integrate the importance of the social, psychological, and behavioral components, the
biopsychosocial model was later adopted so that it could be consistent with the general system
theory, which states that systems affect one another, causing changes in one system to impact
others. Additionally, through the biopsychosocial model, there is a clear... Show more content on

Ghost Hunt Research Paper
If you believe in ghosts, you aren t alone. A YouGov survey of about 1,000 people says that 45%

Canada as an Ethical and Egalitarian Model for the United...
Introduction
Universal healthcare should be available to everyone in the United States, and the best system
would be a Canadian style, single payer form of national health insurance rather than Obama Care
or reliance on private health insurance. Health care is a basic human right, and from an ethical
viewpoint, the system in the United States is the most unjust and unequal in the Western world
and paradoxically the most expensive as well. Although national health insurance was first
proposed as early as 1912, and again during the New Deal and Fair Deal in the 1930s and 1940s,
it has always been blocked by powerful corporate interests that have far too much influence on
politics and public opinion. Even worse, the injustice of the present system is borne most
heavily by the poor, working class, and members of minority groups who lack health care
coverage at work and cannot afford private insurance. North of the border, Canada has a far
better model for health care and one that most U.S. reformers have demanded since the 1940s.
Medicare has been a very popular public service in Canada since it was first passed in 1966, and
provides universal health care paid for out of general tax revenue. In the U.S., Medicare covers
only those over age 65, but it should be modified into a Medicare for all system, especially if the
Supreme Court overturns Obama Care this year.

The Causes Of Hurricane Katrina

category 3 rating on the Saffir Simpson Hurricane scale, besides it maintained winds having a
speed of about 175 miles per hour that hard pressed across 400 miles. It brought about fatalities
totaling to 1,833 and damages to private properties amounting to US dollars 1.2 million, besides
payments incurred by the National Flood Insurance amounting to US dollars 13 billion. The
hurricane, affected the states of Louisiana, Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida (CNN,

the National Response Plan; which the House Katrina Investigation Committee established to have
been implemented late, incompetently, or did not follow the instituted National Response Plan by
the United StatesDepartment of Homeland Security (United States House, 2006). The response and
rescue mission became a subject of investigation and also led to the resignation of the then director
of Federal Emergency Management Agency [FEMA], Michael Brown. Additionally, many other
officials of the federal government received criticism concerning their inappropriate responses.
Furthermore, it sparked a declaration of a state of emergency in certain states by the President.
However, many questions have been tabled concerning the role played by the private securities

The Pathophysiology Of Muscles
The word muscle has its origins in the Latin word musculus which means little mouse . The
terminology became popular as the movement of certain muscles, most notably biceps, was thought
to be reminiscent of a mouse moving beneath a rug. Another explanation is that at the anatomical
level, some muscles look like mice. This holds true especially for muscles with long, thin tendons
that resemble a mouse s tail.
Muscles are specialized contractile tissues responsible for motility, a feature that is a distinguishing
characteristic between the plant and animal kingdoms; and are responsible for most physiological
processes in higher animals like blood circulation, contractions of the heart, involuntary peristaltic
movements of the gut, respiration, voluntary body movements, maintenance of posture, gait and
facial expressions. How a single tissue performs such varied functions can be attributed to the
distinct mechanical, contractile, structural and electrophysiological properties that are acquired by
each muscle type during the course of development. The two broad classes of muscle fibres are
striated (cardiac and skeletal) and non striated (smooth) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each myofiber is in turn composed of hundreds of contractile organelles called myofibrils that run
through the length of the myofiber. These are rod like structures made up of protein, and are

and thick whose major components are the proteins actin and myosin, respectively. For each thick

The Machine Stops, By Jonathan Forster
Society today possesses an over reliance on technology. Advancements in technology paved the way
for the formation of new applications and forms of social media that potentially lead to the loss of
the intimacy of communication and personal relationships among users. As a result of the ease of
communication through technology, face to face interaction rarely occurs anymore. Long before
technology began advancing at a rapid pace, authors used their medium of writing to comment on
the dangers of relying on technology too excessively. E.M. Forster s short story, The Machine Stops
, written in 1909, highlights a dilemma that society s over reliance on technology created between
virtual connectivity and face to face interaction. That over reliance, perfect for the futuristic,
dystopian society in The Machine Stops, also serves as a cautionary tale for the technological
culture of today.
Vashti takes comfort in all the luxuries that the Machine provides, but that comfort comes with a
price. Immediately after his birth, Kuno was taken from Vashti and placed into a public nursery,
seeing as the duties of [parents] cease at birth (Forster). In the futuristic society of The Machine
Stops, the expectations of parents do not include actually raising their children. Not once in the
short story did Vashti voice any reluctance she may have had when Kuno was taken from her.
Maternal instincts would prevent any mother from allowing her child to be whisked away, but
Vashti s reliance

Descriptive Essay On Anxiety
Generalized anxiety is a disorder in which a person has normally tense, uneasy, and feels very on
edge more often than not. I have always had a bit on anxiety with being near and/or around
people, I have never felt completely comfortable around anyone and often feel uneasy and
nervous about everything, but during my last year of middle school my anxiety got
tremendously worse with the stress of school. During my 8th grade year I was going to a
college prep academy that came with an incredible amount of stress for a thirteen year old. As
the school year went on I would get more and more homework and assignments. On average, I
would come home with about four hours of homework that would be due the next day,
eventually the stress and overwhelming amount of work became hard to handle and I started
becoming more and more worrisome and uncomfortable in public. As the school year went on I
just became extremely nervous and uncomfortable about everything, scared to move in front of
people, scared to get up and sharpen a pencil, my hands were more often than not sweaty and
gross feeling which just made me even more nervous because what if for some reason someone
would need to touch my hand. I felt uncomfortable around friends that I had known and gone to
school with for years. I eventually stopped going out at all and just stayed home, I wouldn t go out
to eat with my parents nor would I go out with friends or anything. I started becoming very
secluded from everyone. Eventually my

Ancient Egypt Sports And Games
Abstract:
The ancient Egyptians expected that life after death would follow the general pattern of life on the
earth so they kept in their tombs food to eat, clothing to wear, boats to sail, weapons for war and
sports and games equipment s for their amusement. All the people in Ancient Egypt did many fun
things together. All of them enjoyed the Nile River, such as adults and children that they used to
swim and fished. People went to their temples together, where they worshipped their gods and
watched performances of plays.
Sport in ancient Egypt like all other aspects of ancient Egyptian culture was closely linked up with
religion. During feasts, the public entered the great temples to see and petition their deities and
watch athletes compete ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Do you play games? Maybe you go to the movies. How about listening to music? These are all
things we do for fun and games. What about the Ancient Egyptians? How did they have fun?
From what we have found out, they had lots of fun. They had toys, games, and played pretend.
They listened to musicians. And, they enjoyed sports. Let s see what we can discover. The
history of sport probably extends as far back as the existence of people as purposive sportive and
active beings. Sport has been a useful way for people to increase their mastery of nature and the
environment. Of course, as we go further back in history the dwindling evidence makes the theories
of the origins and purposes of sport difficult to support. Nonetheless, its importance in human
history is undeniable.
Egyptians enjoyed the good life and playing was a part of it, all kings, princes and statesmen were
keen on attending sports competitions, which they encouraged and provided with the necessary
equipment. Children and adults are often depicted involved in games. Typically boys games were
rougher than those of the girls, but the latter weren t above fighting and hair pulling, like the pair in

Veneers On Teeth Research Paper
The teenage years are tough, even for the most self confident of children. School grades,
popularity, and appearance are all pressure issues for your teen right now. One area of their life
where a dentist can be of assistance is appearance. Braces can be used to straighten teeth and
whitening systems can be used for yellow teeth. But, what do you use for chipped or uneven teeth?
Porcelain veneers are an option to correct the way your teen s teeth look, but they are not the
solution for everyone. Before your child heads down the road of veneers, it is wise to know
whether these are going to make your adolescent smile again.
Existing Teeth Sensitivity
In order for the veneers to be correctly bonded onto the teeth, a slim layer of enamel needs to be

Some people only grind their teeth when they are asleep. The problem with putting veneers onto
teeth that are being regularly ground is that while porcelain veneers are strong, they are not strong
enough to be put under this type of pressure on a daily basis.
If grinding porcelain veneers occurs regularly, the veneers will chip or crack and you will be back
at stage one of damaged teeth. Before proceeding with the implementation of veneers, discuss
treatment options for bruxism with your dentist first. Mouthguards while sleeping and stress
management therapies while awake are two treatment options open to your teenager.
The good news for your teenager is that even if veneers are not an option at this moment in time,
there are other options open to them to make their teeth look wonderful. Crowns and dental bonds
are other choices that may suit their mouth better. Making an appointment with their dentist to
discuss cosmetic changes is the first step to giving your child back the oral confidence they need to

About 5 10% of the female population is affected by Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). The
cause is unknown, but it is considered to be the most common endocrine disorder in women.
Genetics and insulin resistance are believed to play a significant role. One of the first symptoms
is an irregular period. Others include an imbalance in the female sex hormones, weight gain, and
male patterned hair growth and balding. Aside from hormonal treatments, there are some
natural ways to treat PCOS and eliminate many of the symptoms. A proper diet and weight loss
routine is essential. After my own horrific experience with PCOS, I decided to take my health
into my own hands. At the beginning of the month, I weighed 320 lbs. My goal is to get down
to 180 lbs. by April 13th, 2014. Today is Day 13 of my lifestyle change and my current weight is

Security Social Reform (SSR)
Security Sector Reform, or SSR, is a type of governmental assistance in which another country
supplies helpful support in the democratic direction. An example of this would be in Egypt when
the United States Government helped develop their democracy. This sector also helps those
who are used to being at war find places amongst society and be able to live their lives working a
full time job, rather than a rebel outpost. The SSR uses the help of the citizens currently in place
to form the democracy. In this sense, they do not go into the country and do anything. The SSR
is assisting those who are already there. The following is a synopsis of the SSR and how it could
help, and possibly has helped, the world. West Africa, a sometimes highly dangerous place, was
subject to SSR attempts to help. The SSR is currently trying to find the sources of threat, which
are, as Adedeji Ebo states, ...it is evident that the sources of threat are often internal and that the
targets/victims are not merely states and security forces. (Ebo). The SSR is still trying to help the
government and to some degree it has been successful. Another case was in Iraq, when the Iraqi
government had problems as Arnold Luethold states, However, the Coalition Provisional Authority
s (CPA) decision to dissolve all the forces, including the police forces, without prior consultation
with Iraqis, has met considerable criticism in Iraq and abroad, for it was perceived to undermine
Iraq s stability. (Luethold).

your little one s legs are much shorter than yours as well, so an extended seat may bring on

Chinese State Owned Enterprises
Introduction Since the Chinese Economic reform in 1978, Chinese economy transferred from
planned economy to market economy. Under the new circumstances of socialist market economy
with Chinese characteristics, a large number of workers faced unemployment with the economic
reforms. In the 1990s, the reforms of State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) enhanced the job losses and
changes, causing a new noun xiagang , the laid off workers unemployed with remained work
relationships from SOEs. In comparison with the situations before 1980s, the workers benefits and
social positions have dramatically changed. The workers no longer hold the so called Iron Rice
Bowl that guaranteed all the welfares and permanent employment. On xiagang status, workers are
helpless, depressed and confused about the future. Laid off workers in Chinahas become an issue of
great significance related to workforce allocation, people s wellbeing and economic development.
In this essay, we will discover the reasons for the appearance of laid off workers in China from
current literature via historical and economic aspects and also the influences of reforms of SOEs
on the hardship of the laid off workers. In addition, the re employment policies will be covered.

Persuasive Essay On Football Predictionss

gambling. But how exactly are these predictions formulated?
Before you do anything else (before you put any money at stake) make sure that you know what
you re doing and what you re getting into. If you really want to get into football gambling, it would
be best if you would read about the subject matter first before you start betting on any team.
The internet is teeming with information on the subject. You can search for articles and websites
that would be able to help you learn more about the subject. This would also let you in on some
tricks of the trade. The more knowledge that you have the more chances you get of making a

These predictions would tell them about what exactly could happen in the next game. Based on
these predictions, they can then place a wager on the team that they think would win. Of course,
nobody can really predict the outcome of a game. Handicappers, or people who give game
predictions, tell their clients that there are no guarantees that their predictions are really going to
happen. So it will be up to you if you re going to bet according to their predictions.
These handicappers are taking a great deal of effort and putting in a lot of time to study each and
every player s move. They also take a look at the teams performances. The handicapper bases his
predictions about the outcome of the game on these factors. They would do a matchup of the team

Olaudah Equiano, A British Slave, And Frederick Douglass...
The autobiographies of Olaudah Equiano, a British slave, and Frederick Douglass and Harriet
Jacobs, American slaves, highlight the transition from the institution of British slavery pre
American Revolution to the 18th and 19th century American plantation slavery. The explicit
differences between the two systems suggest unique factors that either promoted or hindered each
institution. In Britain, slavery was generally driven by economic factors that relied on trained
labor. Growth and expansion of slavery in the United States, however, was deeply rooted in
consistent oppression and exploitation of slaves through physical and psychological abuses,
which in turn gave slave owners unchecked power that ensured the perpetuation of plantation
slavery. The placement of slaves throughout different regions of the world shaped individual
experiences, allowing for the growth of varied slave institutions. The life of Olaudah Equiano, a
slave sent primarily to Britain and its colonies, in contrast with the lives of American slaves,
defines this clear difference. While enslaved, Equiano was taught how to read and write, and was
baptized as a Christian. These events marked the bridging of the wide gap between African slaves
and their European slave owners, as slaves in Britain participated in aspects of society traditionally
associated with Europeans. Equiano s apprehensions and alarms...among the Europeans began to
decrease, as he was continually being integrated into society and was

  • 3. The Hitchhiker s Guide To The Galaxy By Douglas Adams One of the literary highlights of my life has been reading The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. The short novel is packed with tons of humor, not leaving any joke untold. However, despite being by far the funniest book I ve ever read, it discusses some fascinating subjects, both philosophically and scientifically. Because Hitchhiker s Guide is such a fantastic book, I propose a course based around discussing the topics covered in the book and learning about the science and philosophy behind the book. The course would allow for in depth discussions of a plethora of topics like time travel and even the existence of God. It would be great for honors students because it would take advantage of their natural urge to learn and debate as well as teach students about material that... For example, discussing a whale appearing in the sky and subsequently falling to the earth (which happens in the book, if you haven t read it), would allow for discussion on both the probability of random events (like a whale appearing in the sky) and life philosophy. Aside from discussing the topics discussed by the book, the course could take a literary turn and discuss the use of humor and writing of the book. Douglas Adams has a unique sense of humor, which is largely dominated by dry, absurdly matter of fact statements. This would add a literary perspective to a course that already discusses STEM and philosophical subjects. Part of the course would require reading The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy, as well as reading The Science of the Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy by Michael Hanlon, a book that discusses the same things the course would, and would give students a jumping off point for class discussions. This course would offer multiple interesting topics for everyone, and would foster intellectually stimulating ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay On The Trend Of Technology In Business Running head: TECHNOLOGY The Trend of Technology in Business and Everyday Life Khristina Bell Bethel University The trend of technology is continuing to rise as the economy continues to change. Some aspects of society and our individual lives are also influenced by technology in many direct and indirect ways, including governance, entertainment, human relationships, and our views on morality, mind, matter and our own human nature (Patil, 2017). All of the aspects listed play a huge role in the trend of technology changing as society does. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Several employees have complained about their computers freezing, systems running slow and in some cases even shutting down. Information technology is an essential tool for the average information professional today, and ongoing research is needed to assess technological directions of the field over a period of time. The most popular technologies are email, office productivity tools, web browsers, library catalogs, database searching tools, and printers (Maceli Burke, 2016). The problem at Adams Keegan is the amount of advanced technology that we have compared to the amount of clients we provide services to. All of the technology features listed are all a part of what is used on a daily basis. Not having access to certain technology during certain times of the day can sometimes hinder what the staff is trying to accomplish. For example, there are only a certain amount of scanners located in our department. Clients can request that documents be scanned to them at any given moment. If a person in payroll for example is scanning checks it can take a while to be able to use the scanner and get back to your client in time. An obvious benefit to technology in businesses is increased productivity, other benefits that can help are improved speed, the ease of sharing and storing information and a decrease in human error through automation add up to a reduction in costs ... • 5. The Most Important Aspects Of Family Values Everyone has values that they consider to be the most important aspects of their life. For me, these values are family and friendship. In many occasions, it is those who have less, but have strong familial and friendship bonds that seem to be the happiest. Through family bonds and friendship, we are able to have happy, fulfilling lives that money and success can not quite achieve. In the CASL building, during the photowalk, I observed my surroundings to find the photos that I took. In the photos I took, a Macbethposter and a quinceaГ±era, we can see why I feel that these bonds are of utmost importance. The Macbeth poster shows that power comes with a price and cannot bring true happinessthrough the facial expression and the skull being in the shape of a crown. While the quinceaГ±era photo shows that having familyand friends surrounding you can bring you happiness. However, the music videos that were viewed in class display different values from my own. In these, the core values displayed are black empowerment and bringing awareness to discrimination that the African American community face as a whole. Although these are vastly important, they do not connect fully with my values. In the first photo taken, we are able to see why family and friendship are the most significant values. The photo is of a quinceaГ±era that is taking place at the Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church. In the photo, we see the girl being blessed by the priest while all of her family and friends watch ... The example that Bradford also uses in her article is that if a person is dehydrated, that s the first step that should be fixed behind the treatment. When the symptom has been noted, next would come the action. The action would be to help the person in need to boost their weight up. It will put his visionary leadership on display by discussing how Eisenhower believed diversity is a military necessity when he incorporating Generals from multiple allied nations into his senior staff. Summary Of Bilingual Childhood By Richard Rodriguez Approximately 37 million people speak both English and Spanish in the United States and have experienced a feeling of discrimination or rejection. Richard Rodriguez s memoir called Aria: A Memoir Of A Bilingual Childhood demonstrates this with a personal experience. This memoir was taken from the book Hunger Of Memory which was originally published in 1982 . The events in this memoir occur specifically in the 1900s, when the author was a young boy, entering an American schoolfor the first time. One of the main issues displayed in his memoir is when Rodriguez recalls being labeled as a problem student being a Hispanic American student in an all white school. Another issue displayed in this memoir is the difficulties he had had to learn English meantime he felt more comfortable with Spanish. Being discriminated and not being able to adapt to two different languages is a struggle more than half of the world deals with. This is truly a serious issue because this could potentially be the origin of socially feeling uncomfortable. In this portion, his argument is a bit weak and could be strengthened by considering other important factors effecting wealth concentration, rather than limiting it to two seemingly all important issues. • 21. We Use A Gaussian Function As A Kernel Function In order to specify the middle layer of an RBF we have to decide the number of neurons of the layer and their kernel functions which are usually Gaussian functions. In this paper we use a Gaussian function as a kernel function. A Gaussian function is specified by its center and width. The simplest and most general method to decide the middle layer neurons is to create a neuron for each training pattern. However the method is usually not practical since in most applications there are a large number of training patterns and the dimension of the input space is fairly large. Therefore it is usual and practical to first cluster the training patterns to a reasonable number of groups by using a clustering algorithm such as K means or SOFM and then to assign a neuron to each cluster. A simple way, though not always effective, is to choose a relatively small number of patterns randomly among the training patterns and create only that many neurons. A clustering algorithm is a kind of an unsupervised learningalgorithm and is used when the class of each training pattern is not known. But an RBFN is a supervised learning network. And we know at least the class of each training pattern. So we d better take advantage of the information of these class memberships when we cluster the training patterns. Namely we cluster the training patterns class by class instead of the entire patterns at the same time (Moody and Darken, 1989; Musavi et al., 1992). In this way we can reduce at least the ... The revolution was against the regime of Porfirio Diaz who reigned for 35 years, after Mexico gained its independence from Spain. and was not a good president in the sense that he failed to support the middle and lower classes of Mexico. It was run by the middle (some in the middle (A very a little amount) and all in the lower classes, and they were all influenced by Francisco I. Madero. Although the lower classes didn t originally full on oppose Diaz they felt neglected as a people. Madero saw this and sought out to influence the people of the country to revolt, so that they could then shift their views completely. Madero writes the Plan de San Luis Potosi, which was a political document written by Madero to describe how he was wrongly imprisoned by Diaz in order for him to lose the election. Madero also wrote the document to spread new ideas on what democracy was, and how to eradicate corruption in Mexico s government. With the publication of this document support for Diaz and his presidency easily disappeared eventually causing him to resign. Madero then ran for president and won the election properly. Rhino Poaching Essay Poaching of Rhinos: A Growing Transnational Crime Industry In 2011, the West African black rhino was declared extinct by the IUCN (International Union for Conservation and Nature). CHAPTER 5 DISCUSSION The purpose of this study was to examine Kindergarten teachers perspectives about the practice of effective computer technology procedures and its incorporation into their current pedagogical practices. Study Implications The findings for hypothesis 1 were not reinforced by conducting the linear regression. There were numerous factors that contributed to this result. Primarily, the sum of participants hindered the researcher s capacity to truly assemble a statistical evaluation for a linear regression. A major area of interest, concerning this study, was finding and selecting a sample size that could be considered considerable along with being sufficient so that it will be characteristic of the populace from which it comes. Therefore, the researcher could center and make strong implications about the issue of study. It can be adequately implied, for future reference, that the sample size should be large enough so that central variances can be found in subgroups. By simply having a small sample size, it did not contribute to effectually conducting a linear regression. In addition to the sample size, there was a postulation that the linearity would suggest that teachers who are new to the field would allow for a pattern to emerge. However, that was not the case in this study. By containing such a small sample size of teachers with experience in the field of education within the past 5 years, it refuted the capability to essentially run the ... In order to gain control over the allocation of resources throughout the university and also to balance the monies being distributed amongst the revenue centres a system of participation /subvention was used by the university administrators. These participations were mere equal contributions (20% of the total tuition fees, sales and service income, and indirect cost recoveries) from all revenue centres and were redistributed back to them as block grants called subventions and these participations were portrayed as negative and subventions as positive indirect income. These features in fact enabled university administrators to focus on university priorities and goals. In allocating subventions their main focus was firstly on differentials in the costs of educating students in different fields and secondly, the revenue centres cost/quality ratios. There was a variation in the cost of educating students from one school to another, for example, business education is cheaper than the music education but the university tends to charge the same tuition fees to both of them. To balance this cost disparity the subvention allocation was used. There was also an issue with the cost/academic excellence ratios. A school that has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We are Seven, composed by William Wordsworth and published in Lyrical Ballads, is one of Wordsworth darker poems and unlike his characteristic Romantic style. Wordsworth lost his mother at the tender age of eight, coincidentally, the same age as the cottage girl. This poem stems from Wordsworth s personal experiences from when he journeyed across Europe later in life and stumbled across a child near Goodrich Castle, whom is alleged to be the muse behind this poem. The poem depicts the struggle the speaker faces as he tries to verbalize the truth over the deceased cottage girl s brother and sister. The characterizations regarding the speaker s social classand age in regards to his audience, the little girl, contribute to the colliding ideology during this exchange. Wordsworth begins the scene of this poem with the master strolling down a road in the countryside. The silence and loneliness of the poem breaks when the man comes across a little girl frolicking alone. Progress was possible, even inevitable, if people could be set free. Society s goals should center on improvements in material and social life. In culture, the aftermath of the scientific revolution spilled over into a new movement known as the Enlightenment, centered particularly in France but with adherents throughout the Western world. Enlightenment thinkers continued to support scientific advance. While there were no Newton like breakthroughs, chemists gained new understanding of major elements and biologists developed a vital new classification system for the natural species (The Enlightenment P.1). Enlightenment thinkers showed great interest in technological change, for greater prosperity was a valid and achievable goal. Coercion and cruelty could be corrected, for the Enlightenment encouraged a humanitarian outlook that was applied in condemnations of slavery and war. The Enlightenment, summing up and extending earlier intellectual changes, became an important force for political and social reform. It did not rule unchallenged. Important popular religious movements, such as Methodism in England, showed the continued power of spiritual faith. Health care is a basic human right, and from an ethical viewpoint, the system in the United States is the most unjust and unequal in the Western world and paradoxically the most expensive as well. Although national health insurance was first proposed as early as 1912, and again during the New Deal and Fair Deal in the 1930s and 1940s, it has always been blocked by powerful corporate interests that have far too much influence on politics and public opinion. Even worse, the injustice of the present system is borne most heavily by the poor, working class, and members of minority groups who lack health care coverage at work and cannot afford private insurance. North of the border, Canada has a far better model for health care and one that most U.S. reformers have demanded since the 1940s. Medicare has been a very popular public service in Canada since it was first passed in 1966, and provides universal health care paid for out of general tax revenue. In the U.S., Medicare covers only those over age 65, but it should be modified into a Medicare for all system, especially if the Supreme Court overturns Obama Care this year. • 42. The Pathophysiology Of Muscles The word muscle has its origins in the Latin word musculus which means little mouse . The terminology became popular as the movement of certain muscles, most notably biceps, was thought to be reminiscent of a mouse moving beneath a rug. Another explanation is that at the anatomical level, some muscles look like mice. This holds true especially for muscles with long, thin tendons that resemble a mouse s tail. Muscles are specialized contractile tissues responsible for motility, a feature that is a distinguishing characteristic between the plant and animal kingdoms; and are responsible for most physiological processes in higher animals like blood circulation, contractions of the heart, involuntary peristaltic movements of the gut, respiration, voluntary body movements, maintenance of posture, gait and facial expressions. • 43. The Machine Stops, By Jonathan Forster Society today possesses an over reliance on technology. Advancements in technology paved the way for the formation of new applications and forms of social media that potentially lead to the loss of the intimacy of communication and personal relationships among users. As a result of the ease of communication through technology, face to face interaction rarely occurs anymore. Long before technology began advancing at a rapid pace, authors used their medium of writing to comment on the dangers of relying on technology too excessively. E.M. Forster s short story, The Machine Stops , written in 1909, highlights a dilemma that society s over reliance on technology created between virtual connectivity and face to face interaction. That over reliance, perfect for the futuristic, dystopian society in The Machine Stops, also serves as a cautionary tale for the technological culture of today. Vashti takes comfort in all the luxuries that the Machine provides, but that comfort comes with a price. Immediately after his birth, Kuno was taken from Vashti and placed into a public nursery, seeing as the duties of [parents] cease at birth (Forster). In the futuristic society of The Machine Stops, the expectations of parents do not include actually raising their children. Not once in the short story did Vashti voice any reluctance she may have had when Kuno was taken from her. Maternal instincts would prevent any mother from allowing her child to be whisked away, but Vashti s reliance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An example of this would be in Egypt when the United States Government helped develop their democracy. This sector also helps those who are used to being at war find places amongst society and be able to live their lives working a full time job, rather than a rebel outpost. The SSR uses the help of the citizens currently in place to form the democracy. In this sense, they do not go into the country and do anything. The SSR is assisting those who are already there. The following is a synopsis of the SSR and how it could help, and possibly has helped, the world. West Africa, a sometimes highly dangerous place, was subject to SSR attempts to help. The autobiographies of Olaudah Equiano, a British slave, and Frederick Douglass and Harriet Jacobs, American slaves, highlight the transition from the institution of British slavery pre American Revolution to the 18th and 19th century American plantation slavery. The explicit differences between the two systems suggest unique factors that either promoted or hindered each institution. In Britain, slavery was generally driven by economic factors that relied on trained labor. Growth and expansion of slavery in the United States, however, was deeply rooted in consistent oppression and exploitation of slaves through physical and psychological abuses, which in turn gave slave owners unchecked power that ensured the perpetuation of plantation slavery. The placement of slaves throughout different regions of the world shaped individual experiences, allowing for the growth of varied slave institutions. The life of Olaudah Equiano, a slave sent primarily to Britain and its colonies, in contrast with the lives of American slaves, defines this clear difference. While enslaved, Equiano was taught how to read and write, and was baptized as a Christian.
