Structure Of Compare And Contrast Essay
Writing an essay on the structure of a compare and contrast essay can be challenging, primarily
because it requires a thorough understanding of the components that make up this type of
writing. To start with, one needs to grasp the fundamental purpose of a compare and contrast
essay: to analyze similarities and differences between two or more subjects, events, concepts, or
ideas.
Crafting such an essay demands careful consideration of various elements, including the
selection of suitable topics for comparison, the establishment of clear criteria for comparison, and
the organization of ideas in a coherent and logical manner. Moreover, writers must navigate the
intricacies of presenting balanced arguments while avoiding bias towards any particular
viewpoint.
The structural framework of a compare and contrast essay typically involves an introduction that
provides background information and introduces the subjects under examination, followed by
body paragraphs that delve into specific points of comparison or contrast. Each paragraph
should focus on a single aspect of comparison and offer evidence, examples, or analysis to
support the writer's assertions. Transition words and phrases are essential for maintaining
coherence and guiding readers through the essay's flow.
Furthermore, crafting a compelling conclusion that synthesizes the main points and reinforces the
significance of the comparison can be particularly challenging. The conclusion should leave a
lasting impression on the reader and offer insights or implications that extend beyond the
immediate scope of the essay.
In essence, writing an essay on the structure of a compare and contrast essay requires not only a
deep understanding of the subject matter but also proficiency in analytical thinking,
organizational skills, and effective communication. It demands meticulous attention to detail and
a commitment to clarity and coherence throughout the writing process.

Platinum Motorcars Essay
Platinum Motorcars was established in 2006 by Benny Black. The company provided
various services such as luxury vehicles rental services, chauffeur services and sales
arrangements. Platinum Motorcars current customers include different variety of
clients such as local business leaders, known athletes, celebrities and tourists, and
these customers feel satisfied with the company services, also with the standards to
rent a luxurious car. The former customers who dealt with the company in the past
maybe found that the standards for renting a luxurious car is too much and hard to
meet, or found other competitors who provide the same service with better price and
less requirements. The potential new customers for the company are the individuals
who looking for a luxury driving experience on a continuously or intermittently basis,
also the rich people are desired clientele by the company. Platinum Motorcars
competitors attracted the customers who seek to drive a luxury vehiclefor special
occasions such as wedding or a prom as a once in lifetime experience (Clow Baack,

Moreover, anyone who wants to rent a car must meet the company s requirements
which include additional fees and proof for other documents, so the consumer
segment served by the company usually the rich and high income people who can
afford the high prices. Platinum Motorcars could serve people in other geographic
area such as San Diego in California because this area attracts many tourists every
year, and driving a luxury car will be new experience for them. In addition, the
company could offer its services on the famous hotels in the same area by keep
flyers that explain all services the customers can purchase and get from the company

Nuit of the Living Dead Essay
Nuit of the Living Dead by David Sedaris
Nuit of the Living Dead written by David Sedaris, the setting in rural France leads to
part of the comedic element of this story. Reading this story very much feels like
trying to follow an ADD chipmunk. There are generally several thought patterns
running simultaneously throughout the entire thing. It s a quick, fun, charmingly
quirky read. One of the most charming parts is the internal dialog of the main
character that s constantly drizzled through the entire story. It lends such a drawing
part to this story; makes it very much more captivating. About halfway into the story
and it started to feel so much like a peek into my own mind that I couldn t help but

The driver of the van struggles with a thick accent which no doubt had I been in
the author s position it would have taken a great effort to stay composed.
Sometimes inappropriate, not so politically correct humor is some of the funniest
out there, which this writer realizes and dances so delicately along the line
between funny and crass. That s what makes this story so charming for the most
part. There is a line midway through that makes me snicker every single time I read
it. Either he had a speech impediment or the letter v did not exist in his native

probably my favorite in the entire story, the author is seeing his living room

Essay A Wandering Mind Is An Unhappy Mind
During the time between waking up and going to bed about 50,000 to 70,000
thoughts go through one person s head. Most of those thoughts happen during a
process called mind wandering . There are a lot of techniques used to minimize
mind wandering . To Matthew Killingsworth and Daniel Gilbert this meant that
mind wandering was a bad thing. They studied to find the answer and as a result
wrote A Wandering Mind Is an Unhappy Mind . Matthew Killingsworth and Daniel
Gilbert are psychologists who study happiness as well as all of the other emotions.
Together they started a study to find out if a wandering mind really make you
unhappy. They introduced an app to record this study. This app is only for apple
users. It activates at random moments during their waking hours . When this app
activates it asks you questions such as how are you feeling right now? , and what
are you doing right now? if I had an apple anything I would go get the app right away.

In this article they describe how mind wandering appears to be the brains default
mode of operation . This means that during the times of the day where you are not
actively thinking about thinking, your mind still thinks. This is when the question of
whether or not this makes us as humans unhappy, comes into play. A lot of people
suggest that in order to be happy you have to be living in the moment . The study is
a study to see about its emotional consequences . Unfortunately it is not easily
possible to get results for this study. Matthew Killingsworth and Daniel Gilbert had to
dig a little deeper to get results for this study.

strengths and abilities to persevere through difficult situations and create a more
positive outcome for themselves. However, current research connecting this strengths

First, I would implement trauma and diversity trainings for all educators and staff
members in schools that focus on how trauma experiences can impact an individual s
emotional and behavioral development and their ability to succeed academically and
in other settings. The diversity portion of this training would focus on the cultural
differences that are experienced by individuals of different races and ethnicities
because it is important to be culturally sensitive, especially when teaching young
minority individuals. Secondly, my practicum placement is in OKC public schools
and the school social workers in the district serve very high need populations and
many individuals have a negative connotation of the students who attend these

positive one, so that the individuals who are guiding these children through the
school system will not continue to lower their expectations of these students and
negatively impact their educational experience. I will do this by only focusing on the
student s strengths when conversing with teachers and principals. Thirdly, I would
advocate for schools to make it a part of their curriculum to allow students to explore
their heritages in the hopes of helping students create positive ethnic identities, which
has been linked to positive outcomes for

Acupuncture Definition
The clinical effectiveness of acupuncture has remained inclusive and continued to
attract heated debates. Many trying acupuncture often hold the belief that
acupuncture may help or entirely due to cultural curiosity. The majority of studies, in
particular the German randomised controlled trials, show that acupuncturehas better
physiological effects for chronic painconditions than the conventional standard
therapy.
Frequent interpretation of the results from the GERAC shows a clear advantage of
both real and sham acupuncture over conventional therapy, which implies that
acupuncture is a useful intervention without doubt. Approximately 50% of patients in
real and sham acupuncture groups experienced therapeutic effects whereas only 25%
of patients ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The studies comparing real acupuncture and sham acupuncture was designed to
demarcate the physiologic from psychological, specific from nonspecific, effects of
acupuncture. There are two fundamental assumptions behind these studies:
acupuncture points precisely recorded exist, needling at non acupuncture does not
generate significant physiologic effects. However, these assumptions are heavily
criticised, which indicates the little difference cannot disprove the effectiveness of
acupuncture. By tracing the historical description of acupuncture points and
comparing to the modern concepts, classical acupuncture points are not precisely
defined spots but rather more vaguely defined areas, thus real and sham acupuncture
points cannot be accurately defined. Furthermore, some studies found that insertion
of needles at non acupuncture points produces real analgesic effect. This can be
explained by a mechanism called diffuse noxious inhibitory control that is activated
under minimal needling without applying any stimulation. Accordingly, the
effectiveness of sham acupuncture and the demarcation of specific/nonspecific
effects imply that opponents are scarcely in a position to argue persuasively that
acupuncture is associated with no effects beyond placebo
Marilyn Monroe Informative Speech
The year is 1962. The audience of Madison Square Garden is packed full of the
rich and famous. Among them sits the guest of honor in all his glory, President John
F. Kennedy. All eyes are tuned into the stage, among it stands a blond bombshell
crooning into a microphone. The words Happy Birthday Mr. President slip through
her lips in a light breathy voice. To her family she is Norma Jeane but to the world,
she is Marilyn Monroe(Thomson, 2016).
She was a sex symbol, a pinnacle for women, and an all around icon. Marilyn s
persona appealed to the masses as effortless. But contrary to those beliefs, her efforts
were thought through and calculated. During her childhood little Norma Jeane was
shy and plagued by low self esteem (Victor, 1999).... Show more content on

Marilyn didn t spend time with speech pathologists but instead with drama and
vocal coaches (Victor, 1999). These coaches helped her harness and control her
stutter and instead take her struggle and turn it into something positive. In the
beginning of her career, Marilyn s voice was described as a tight squeak (Victor,
1999). Through the guides of her vocal coaches the voice we all know and
recognize as Marilyn Monroe, was created. To a large extent, the Marilyn voice of
the first half of her career, with its exaggerated clarity and staccato stressing of d
and t , was the result of tutoring from Lytess (Victor, 1999). Lytess encouraged her
to lower her tone and from that rose Marilyn s infamous breathy seductive timbre.
It is believed that this change in how she speaks, almost as if in character, is what
cured Marilyn s stutter (Victor, 1999). The idea of modifying ones tone, proves to
be a successful method of therapy in the world of speech pathology Many of the
current therapies for teens and adults who stutter focus on helping them learn ways
to minimize stuttering when they speak, such as by speaking more slowly,
regulating their breathing, or gradually progressing from single syllable responses to
longer words and more complex sentences. Most of these therapies also help address
the anxiety a person who stutters may feel
Theme Of Punishment By Seamus Heaney
As is evident in several of his works, Seamus Heaney was preoccupied by the
sectarian subject during the period known as the Troubles in Northern Ireland.
However, other preoccupations emanated from it: his need to find his poetic voice
when pressured to speak for his own community; and the etymological study of the
local landscape and its colloquialism. Firstly, this essay will analyse how Heaney
dealt directly with the sectarian subject through three strands; pre Troubles
sectarianism, internal community sectarian punishment and the sectarian murder of
family and friends. Secondly, it will examine the development of his poetic voice in
his attempt to determine his role as a poet. Thirdly, it will also assess Heaney s
etymological study of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poets voice is one of a voyeur, visualising the past life of a girl who was
punished for adultery. After a description that enlivens the bog body, the poem
culminates with Heaney addressing the paralysing emotional experience of being a
voyeur to such tribal, intimate revenge. Heaney measures his sense of injustice
against a community s brutal intolerance of rules perceived to have been violated. He
illustrates the troubling irony: stone age justice that puts an adulteress to death is not
so far removed from contemporary Northern Irish society that punishes when a
community s sectarian rules are seen to be breached. Parker puts it that conflicting
loyalties, pity and guilt, private and collective, supply Punishment with its emotional
charge.
The Grauballe Man provides a close description of an iconic bog body on display and
reveals Heaney s emotional responses to it. The first half of the poem is a
description of each part of the bog body. Heaney uses dark imagery in conjunction
with distinctly human qualities to give the man a spiritual persistence: the black
river of himself. The poem then speculates on his past life and ends with him
shedding the memories of that past. The idea that man s barbaric treatment of his
fellows is never far away; associated ideas link the fate of Grauballe Man with
contemporary events in Northern

Verbal Irony In Animal Farm
Why is irony so commonly used? Animal Farm is about the Russian Revolution
where the animals take over the farm and overthrow their owner, Jones, who is a
human. They promise that they will never act like humans because Jones treated
them so badly but they break that promise. In George Orwell s novel Animal Farm,
the irony is used to show how power can corrupt those who have it. Throughout the
book he uses all three methods of irony to convey that idea. Dramatic irony is the
type of irony that is used the most and the type that is the most obvious, but
situational and verbal irony are used too.
First of all, verbal irony is when the speaker says the opposite of what they mean.
This is used in Animal Farm throughout the book as ... Show more content on

This third and final type of irony is constantly used in books and movies. In Animal
Farm, it is used to show the reader how corrupt the pigs are becoming, at times when
the other animals may not realize it. The author demonstrates when the pigs start
getting suspicious when Napoleon tells the animals: Nevermind the milk, comrades!
That will be attended to. The harvest is more important. Comrade Snowball will
lead the way. I shall follow in a few minutes (p.16). When the animals came back in
the evening they noticed that the milk had disappeared. This seems pretty obvious
to the readers that Napoleon is the one who drank all the milk but the other animals
would not even think of the possibility that Napoleon is the one that stole the milk.
Later, after Snowball had been kicked off the farm, Napoleon announced that he
found out that Snowball had been an ally of Jones since the beginning. At this
moment, he asks if any other animals knew about this and demanded that they step
forward. Napoleon then got his wild dogs to rip their throats out and he even
attempted to kill Boxer, the brave horse. A few days after this incident, the animals
recalled that the Sixth Commandment No animal shall kill any other animal had
been broken. But when Muriel read it, it ran No animal shall kill any other animal
without cause (p.61). It is obvious to the audience that this commandment had been
changed because if they flip back the book to the beginning, the original list of
Commandments are still there and the last two words without cause were not there.
The irony strongly displays that all this power given to Napoleon has gone to his
head, so much so that he has resorted to killing his
How Candidiasis Is A Fungal Infection Caused By Yeasts
Candidiasis: Overview and Causes
Candidiasis is a fungal infection caused by yeasts that belong to the genus Candida.
There are at least 15 distinct Candida species that cause human disease, but 90% of
invasive disease is caused by the 5 most common pathogens, C. albicans, C. glabrata,
C. tropicalis, C. parapsilosis, and C. krusei with candida albicans being the most
prevalent.(Ostrosky Zeichner et al., 2015) Candida yeasts normally reside in the
intestinal tract and can be found on mucous membranes and skin without causing
infection; however, overgrowth of these organisms can cause symptoms to develop.
Symptoms of candidiasis vary depending on the area of the body that is
infected.(CDC, 2016e)
The different types of Candidiasis are determined by the area of the body they affect.
Oropharyngeal candidiasis, otherwise known as Thrush, inhabits the buccal cavity or
throat. Candidiasis of the vagina is commonly referred to as a yeast infection. The
most clinically significant version of candidiasis is invasive candidiasis, which
happens as a result of a candida species entering the bloodstream and spreading
throughout the body. Invasive candidiasis is primarily found in immunocompromised
patients such as those suffering from HIV, undergoing corticosteroid therapy,
chemotherapy, or those with diabetes.
Candidiasis: Signs and Symptoms and Sequelae
Thrush is relatively easy to recognise as white patches can be observed on the tongue
and other oral mucous membranes. Symptoms
Revolutionary War Influence
The American Revolutionary War was the most influential war in American History.
The Background of the war is the British were taxing the colonists heavily and
creating outrageous laws. Such as the Intolerable Acts, where the British took away
access to the Boston Port. They also took away some of their rights to self
government. They made trail for British officials available in Britain and made it
legal to search homes and buildings. The colonists were fed up with the British and
started rebelling. They had rebellions such as the Boston Tea Party, where they
dumped tons of Britain s tea into the Boston Harbor. The start of the battle took place
in Lexington Massachusetts. A unknown minuteman fired a shot at a British soldier

against Britain; Spain and the Netherlands joined as allies of France over the next

Treaty of Paris in 1783 ended the war and recognized the sovereignty of the United

A Research Report On Rural Surveillance
Rural surveillance, although can be done in almost any settings, is usually conducted
in rural, farming, countryside or isolated areas where the use of an observation van
is impractical. (Jenkins, 2010, p.205). The allegations and charges that were cited in
both the Ruby Ridge and Waco incidents were severe enough to warrant such
surveillance and information gathering. The allegations and charges in the case of the
Waco siegeand stand off include firing of automatic weapons from their compound,
modifying legally purchased guns into illegal weapons, stock piling illegal weapons,
child abuse, advocating polygamy, fathering many children through a harem run by
the leader of the group. The location of the compound was in a rural areaand for...

The government also had an informant infiltrate the target but unknown to him, his
cover had already been blown. The target must have fed him with wrong and
misleading information as was evidenced in his reply about what the target group
were doing. He replied that they were praying when in actuality they were arming
themselves for the siege from the government.
If the government had taken the time to set up an OP, taking note to use all rural OP
precautions, they would have been able to overtime get in close, set up both surface
and sub surface OPs and gather evidence or information about the illegal weapons
production activities, observe automatic gun fire activities, confirm daily routine of
key target group members. The surveillance could have produced information on
child abuse issues as well as polygamous activities. Intelligence from the surveillance
could have been used to better coordinate efforts of all agencies involved with the
siege. An even better alternative would have been to arrest the main target when he
was out of his comfort zone as he often did by mingling with locals during gun shows.
Lack of coordination even among one government agency with some leaning towards
aggression while others opted for negotiations shows the level of unpreparedness to
move forward with the mission. The government knew that they had been
compromised but instead of adopting less risky options, they decided to move in with
little or incorrect intelligence about the
Racism For Racism
Racism Needs To Be Stopped
Racism in schools is a big problem, especially in America. Daria Hall, K 12 policy
director at the Education Trust, says that students of color have less access to high
level courses. Black students are categorized as dumb, dropouts. This is not the case
at all, this is only a small percentage. Judging a whole race because of something few
students do is absurd. This is like saying everyone that is white is a racist just
because a few of them are. This is why schools heavy with blacks and latinos have
more first year teachers than any other schools. Schools heavy with blacks and latinos
also have more teachers that don t have a teaching certificate. Racism in schools is a
big deal and if we don t talk about it now, it will never be resolved.
Racism Starts And It Never Goes Away
Blacks in America have a long history of having prejudice towards them. In the
1600 s there was slavery and blacks weren t even allowed to leave their masters
homes. In 1863, slaves were freed and slavery was outlawed. Then when blacks
thought they were finally free there were the jim crow laws, these were racism in
law form. In the 1964 the jim crow laws were banished, but that doesn t mean
racism ended. Some whites are still racist towards blacks because of their past.
There are some white americans who blatantly wear or have confederate flags in
front of black people. There are many white americans who say the n word. That is
absolutely not okay because it has a very
Family Planning
Introduction
Family planning is the planning of when to have children, and the use of birth control
and other techniques to implement such plans. Other techniques commonly used
include sexuality education, prevention and management of sexually transmitted
infections, pre conception counseling and management, and infertility management.
Family planning is sometimes used in the wrong way also as a synonym for the use
of birth control, though it often includes more. It is most usually applied to a female
male couple who wish to limit the number of children they have and/or to control the
timing of pregnancy (also known as spacing children). Family planning may
encompass sterilization, as well as abortion.

The Catholic Church teaches the necessity of responsible parenthood and correct
family planning (one child at a time depending on one s circumstances), while at the
same time teaching that large families are a sign of God s blessings. It teaches that
modern natural family planning, a method of fertility awareness, is in accord with
God s design, as couples give themselves to each other as they are. The RH bill
intends to help couples to have government funded access to artificial contraception
methods as well.

The Common Type Of Sea Turtle
Introduction: The loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) was named as a threatened
species on July 28, 1978. Loggerhead turtles are the most common type of sea turtle.
In addition, they are the only sea turtle that still regularly nests on beaches from New
Jersey to Texas.
General Species Description: The loggerhead turtle s most prominent feature is its
head, is large and slightly heart shaped. The carapace is reddish brown, bony and
has large, non overlapping, rough scales. Just like the head, the carapace is heart
shaped. The bottom shell of loggerhead turtles has a yellowish brown hue. Their
front flippers are short and thick with two claws each. However, the rear flippers can

Primary Food Types Loggerhead adults are carnivores. They eat crabs, conchs, sea
urchins, whelks, and horseshoe crabs. Their massive heads and strong jaws enable
them to crush hard shelled prey. Hatchlings are omnivores gravitate towards feeding
on small animals living in the sea grasses. These can include molluscs and
crustaceans, hydrozoans, jellyfish, and fish eggs (Sea Turtle Diet). Predators
Hatchlings are extremely vulnerable to predators. Once eggs have been laid, on
beaches, raccoons and wild pigs often come by and dig up nests. The predators then
either eat or destroy the eggs. Once hatched, hatchlings top threats include ghost
crabs, birds, and reef fish. As the turtles grow they become too big for a great
majority of their predators, but sharks will prey on loggerheads throughout their lives
(Spotila, 2004). Man is another predator of the loggerhead turtle. Loggerhead turtles
have long been hunted for their eggs and leather. Today in the U.S. this action is no
longer legal, but hunting still continues. Behavior Sea turtles are generally solitary
creatures that remain submerged for much of the time they are at sea. They rarely
interact with one another outside of courtship and mating. Sea turtles are known to
feed and rest off and on during a typical day. During nesting season, loggerheads
follow regular patterns between the nesting beach itself, offshore reefs, other rocky
Kraft Heinz Case Study
Strategic Issues and Actions
Strategy Model
The strategy of Kraft Heinz dramatically changed after the merger in 2015. The new
strategy is considered to be iconoclastic. This is because the new leaders of the
company are not reminiscing in the past or using the former strategies that worked
for the company. They did a complete overhaul to the leadership and the strategies
that worked for the company. The new company objectives are as follows: 1.
Profitable sales growth, 2 Best in class margins, and 3. A superior return of capital.
The company will no longer let employees slip in to the cracks and gain a retirement,
it must be earned.
Since 3G Capital is the holding company for Kraft Heinz they follow the
meritocracy model set forth by 3G. Colvin (2017) discussed the fact that those
who do good move forward and up, those that do bad get fired. It is almost biblical
Don t be deceived: God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows he will also reap
(Galatians 6:7, Holman Christian Standard Bible). Colvin explains this when he
discusses the new CEO:
Kraft Heinz CEO Ber¬nardo Hees, for example, first became a CEO in 2005 at a
company called All America Latina Logistica, owned by a 3G Capital predecessor.
He was then made CEO of Burger King, a 3G Capital holding since 2010. He moved
up to be CEO of Heinz in 2013 and now of Kraft Heinz.
The infamous company, 3G, uses a private equity strategy, however 3G Capital does
not operate as a traditional private equity corporation.

Charles Manson Case
First, I chose this case because of the reverberation of Charles Manson and his
crimes. I first had knowledge of the Charles Manson case after it was referenced in
the TV show, Criminal Minds, after a cult killed 7 people.
Charles Manson was born on November 12, 1934 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Manson s life
of crime started from as young as 10 years old. His first crime was robbing a liquor
store in his home town. During his youth, he was continually sent to juvenile
detention centers. However, time and time again he escaped and committed more
petty crimes. In 1952, he was sent to the Federal Reformatory in Chillicothe, Ohio.
Up until 1966, Manson was constantly in and out of prison. He was finally released
from Terminal Island in 1967.
Once out of prison, Manson made his to San Francisco with his early followers,
including Mary Brunner and about 19 other women. This was the beginning of
Manson s cult, The Manson Family. The Family later relocated to Spahn s Movie
Ranch. After hearing The Beatles White Album, Manson was convinced that the song
Helter Sketler prophesied a race war between Africans Americans Caucasians. His
plan was to hide underground in Death Valley, California during the war, in which the
Africans would be victorious in. However, he said the African Americans would not

This time the target was Terry Melcher, an old acquaintance of Manson. Susan
Atkins, Linda Kasabian and Patricia Krenwinkel were sent to enact the murder at
Melcher s house. However, the Melchers had moved out and instead Sharon Tate,
who was a famous actress at the time, her unborn child and three others who were
visiting were killed. The Tate murders received national recognition. Atkins, Kasabian
and Krenwinkel were identified as the killers and after an eight month trial, they were
all sentenced to death. However, in 1972, the death penalty was abolished in
California so their punishments were overturned to life

the most curable disease as well. Since being easily treated this disease now is not
reportable to the state, unlike other STDs. Trichomonas vaginalis is in the phylum of
Zoomastigina which possess flagella (9+2). Trichomonas vaginalis has been
associated with being one of the earlies protozoan along with mitochondria. However,
this protozoan is unlike most eukaryotes as it lacks some mitochondria. Trichomonas

First option for treatment includes a drug by the name of Metronidazole 500 mg, also
referred to as Flagyl or Protostat. The listed medications are all forms of an
antibiotic. Treatment consists of one of the following, taking 2g of Metronidazole
(4 tabs) as a single oral dose, taking 250 mg of Metronidazole orally 3 times a day
for seven days or 500 mg of Metronidazole twice a day for 7 days. Since this is an
antibiotic alcohol should be avoided and be acknowledged that antibiotic decrease
the effectiveness of birth control. An additional treatment of Trichomoniasis can
also be Clotrimazole which is 1 tablet inserted vaginally at bedtime for 7 days.
During pregnancy, the suggested treatment changes such as Metronidazole can be
taken only after the first trimester to ensure no harm is done to the unborn baby.
During this time of treatment, the infected partner should also be treated as well so
that the disease does not transfer back and forth between hosts. There is also a 1 in
5 chance of a person become infected again so it is important to visit with your
doctor again in symptoms persist or come back after

Menu Analysis Memo
In analyzing the sales data of starters and salads over the course of the first few weeks
of this semester, our current menu items present room for adjustment. There are
menu items that are exemplary and require little to no additional adjustments. Such
items might include the truffle fries and Brussel sprouts. However, we must
importantly consider the sheer number of items that need considerable adjustments.
Over half of our starters and saladsconsist of dogs. These items of low contribution
margin (CM) and popularity present an opportunity to generate additional profits. The
following memo outlines the analysis and strategic implementation we will need to
take in order to create a successful menu.

It s not only healthy from a caloric standpoint. Sea vegetables can also be utilized as
a substitute for salt for guest who are conscious of sodium intake.
The house salad is very similar to the soba noodle in terms of both CM and MM. As
we continue to approach winter headlong, it will prove beneficial to develop salads
with root vegetables such as roasted radishes (Rossman, USA Today).
Our most unpopular dish the cube salad also turns out to be amongst our highest in
CM. This puzzle can be solved in a few ways. Our menu design doesn t provide
much in the way of effectively repositioning the cube salad to increase visibility.
We can move the cube salad to the top of the list of the salad section of the menu.
The guests at Establishment have been proven to be trustful of their servers. We
can encourage guests to purchase the cube salad by offering it as a special and
having our servers actively suggest starting the course with this salad (Kasavanna,
Menu Engineering). Our cobb salad may look intimidating to some of our guests. It
may take a lot of effort for some individuals to actually consume because of the
large chunk of lettuce in the center of the plate. We can make the salad more
palatable by breaking down the lettuce and incorporating the ingredients of a cobb
salad more effectively. Guests will be more inclined to purchase based on a visuals
presentation as a result (Kasavanna, Menu Engineering).

Michael Harrington s The Other America
From The Other America, in Major Problems by Michael Harrington is a document
that tells of the poverty present in America that is often skillfully and unintentionally
concealed and also speaks of Lyndon Johnson s war on poverty and briefly of how
poverty rose during the Reagan administration. After Johnson s declaration of war on
poverty, there was significant change regarding the climate of the social, economic,
and political in the America of those times. And while Johnson s countless social
programs helped decrease poverty immensely, it also left a huge number drowning
in it still. Later Reagan s administration would cite George Gilder on the fact that
welfare did not reduce poverty but increase it to explain why the levels of poverty
rose during the first few months of Reagan s administration. Democrats and liberals
would argue against this and say that poverty... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

During these times, Harrington wrote The Other America which detailed just how
ingrained poverty is in the society of America and how it is concealed throughout the
country by the manner of dress, mannerisms, and character and how that
inadvertently affects them drastically simply because they blend in with the rest of
America that is not struggling economically. Harrington surmises that not only do
those in poverty struggle economically but politically as well as their voice is not
heard.
Part 2: Lyndon B. Johnson s Great Society altered the character and scope of the
federal government by making a significant statement by the social programs he put
into to place and by sending help to the public in order to battle poverty after his
declaration that he had begun a war on poverty. It directly acknowledged that the
American people needed help and that help was in the process of coming. The

The Effects Of Uranium On Society
This semester in ENGL 112, I chose to researcher the effects of uranium. I chose this
topic because I learned about the element earlier in the year while sitting in Physics
class. Uranium is a very interesting element that has been applied to many
applications in today s world. While in Physics, the class even had a debate on
whether uraniumhas affected society for the better or for the worse. My side in the
debate was that uranium has affected society for the worse. Uranium has created
many bad problems for the world, and it could potentially create more problems.
Uranium is a radioactive element that is the only metal on Earth that breaks down
and creates new elements. Before the element was discovered, it affected humans
while they were mining for stone. Some of the stone was even used to build schools
and homes. The radiation then affected the families and children throughout their
lives without them even knowing it. I feel that I did very well with the papers
leading up to the Position Paper. In the Research Proposal, I discussed all the
information about uranium I knew, such as, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Chernobyl,
nuclear... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My research included the effects that uranium and radiation has on humans, the
environment, and animals, considering that uranium and radiation are connected.
Another topic I researched was the elements created when uranium is broke down.
These elements can be even more radioactive than uranium itself, making them more
dangerous and toxic. Those elements, including uranium, can be used to create
nuclear bombs. Nuclear bombs and nuclear explosions cause years of recovery and
rehabilitation for cities or even countries. The radiation also stays in the atmosphere
for millions of years because that is how long long the decay rate
Gilded Age Hero
The world is constantly evolving. Time periods come and go, but certain ones stay
with us and are remembered greatly. Of such, the Gilded Age is one of those few
that made a very large impact on our world today. The Gilded Age is the period in
American history from around 1870 1900 s where the United States population and
economy grew quickly in a short amount of time causing extensive amounts of slave
work and wealthy individuals to live pretentious lifestyles. During this period, John
D. Rockefeller, The founder of the Standard OilCompany, became one of the world s
well known wealthiest individuals and a major philanthropist. In total, he controlled
some 90 percent of the nation s refineries and pipelines In America. Rockefeller didn t

Rockefeller was in fact a villain, he is also thought of as a hero to the Gilded Age
because of the few good acts he did. During the Gilded Age, oil was very expensive
and difficult to acquire.Overall, only the wealthy and well privileged had much
access to it, but Standard Oil developed the world s largest oil refineries and drove
down the cost of refining oil, (World Book, Rockefeller). With Rockefeller as the
head of the company, he was able to expand access of oil to those who didn t have
as much money and produce large amounts of oil for little cost. With his new ideas
and methods, he was able to cut down oil cost and produce more of it more
efficiently and quicker than that of the past. Due to becoming one of the wealthiest
individuals in the United States, Rockefeller had a substantial amount of money and
He gave away about $540 million during his lifetime. He gave most of his money to
the public through foundations he established himself and through other
organizations, (World Book, Rockefeller). These other foundations, which were
mainly universities, highly profited and grew off of these generous donations from
Rockefeller. They are still functioning today and Rockefellers impact on them has
never been forgotten. As a result, John D. Rockefeller was thought of to be a hero
rather than a villain. Besides all this good he may have done, his selfish acts can t go
unseen and unnoticed from his action.
John D Rockefeller lived a higher, better life than almost every American during this
time age. He also obtained an extravagant amount of power through his work and
company. His good deeds were overruled by his many bad deeds therefore making
him a villain rather than a hero.
Effective Use of the First Person in First Confession Essay
Effective Use of the First Person in First Confession
I decided that, between one thing and another, I must have broken the whole ten
commandments, all on account of that old woman, and so far as I could see, so
long as she remained in the house I had no hope of ever doing anything else, (page
189).
This quote from the text of First Confession by Frank O Connor exquisitely shows
which point of view O Connor selected for his story. Frank O Connor chose the first
person point of view to tell his tale. One can determine this by three factors: the use
of the word I , the use of grammatical voice and the use of conveying the story
through the characters. These three ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An excellent example of this is found in O Connor s story when Jackie walks
through the confessional door: It was pitch dark and I couldn t see the priest or
anything else. Then I really began to get frightened. In the darkness it was a matter
between God and me, and He had all the odds Ouml; All I had ever been told about
confession got mixed up in my mind, and I knelt to one wall Ouml;I waited a few
minutes, but nothing happened, so I tried it on the other wall. Nothing happened
there either. He had me spotted all right, (page 190). This quote shows many
characteristics of Jackie without the author writing them down. The first being that he
is young in mind because he is sure that God was going to damn him to hell; mature
individuals realize that most likely God is not going to damn a child to hell,
especially if, like Jackie, the child hasn t done anything horribly wrong. Another
characteristic that is shown in this small bit of text is Jackie s innocence. Jackie
believes that God knows all of his intentions and had him spotted all right, but Jackie
doesn t understand that God hasn t done this to him; the priest just doesn t realize
that he is there. The method of grammatical voice is used primarily in first person

Tiberius Claudius Nero Caesar Essay
Tiberius Claudius Nero Caesar
Tiberius Claudius Nero Caesar was born in Rome on November 16, 42 BC.
Four years after his birth his mother divorced his father and married Octavian.
Tiberius was a descendant of the Claudian family who moved to Rome shortly after
the foundation of the city. The Claudians did not respect others who were not of
noble ancestry.
After Tiberius was four he was raised to be a loyal servant of Augustus.
Tiberius is associated with Augustus for 22 years. Augustus had Tiberius carefully
educated. Augustus later forced Tiberius to dissolve his happy marriage to Vipsania

Tiberius began to take firm steps against foreign beliefs because he thought they
were a threat to traditional Roman values. He expelled followers of the Egyptian
and Jewish religions from Rome and banished astrologers. Tiberius believed in
astrology himself but probably feared a possible conspiracy inspired by horoscopes.
Tiberius established a central camp for the Praetorian guard in Rome so the
military could be quickly called to put down civilian violence. Civilian riots were
common because of the large population of unemployed that were provided for by
the public dole. Lucius Aelius Sejanus was in charge of these troops and that gave
him an enormous amount of potential power. He aspired to marry Livia Julia,
Tiberius daughter, and worked to increase the emperor s fear and distrust of other
members of his Tiberius family. In AD 26 Tiberius left
Rome and withdrew to Campania, and the following year went to the island of
Capri. Tiberius left Rome under the power of Sejanus. Finally realizing that
Sejanus was trying to seize the imperial power he sent a carefully worded letter to the
senate. The senate read the letter while the unsuspecting Sejanus sat in the senate
chamber. Tiberius bitterly condemned Sejanus. Quick action was then taken to
execute Sejanus and his family. Incidents such as this one gave
Tiberius a bad name with the people of Rome and the senate. Tiberius continued to
rule Rome and the
Essay On Surface Hardness Of Cang
Surface Hardening of Cams for Venture Consulting
Introduction
Dean and Triana s invention is running into trouble when it is used continuously
for long periods of time because the cams are too soft, resulting in wear and
misalignment in the invention. They already have all of the cams, so switching
materials is not an option, so we must find a way to harden the surface of the cams to
reduce wear. The cams are made of 1020 steel, which has a hardness of 111 HB, and
only has 0.20% carbon, classifying it as a low carbon steel. For this reason we
recommend that carburization be utilized to increase the carbon composition at the
surface, and thus increase the surface hardness. This occurs because the presence of
carbon interstitially diffused ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Interstitial diffusion is the specific type of diffusion that will be going on. Interstitial
diffusion typically involves one substance with much smaller atoms than the
substance it is moving into, and the small atoms will move in between larger atoms
in the lattice structure. We know that the radius of Carbon is 67 pm or 67*10 12 m
and the radius of radius of Iron is 156 pm or 156*10 12 m. Carbon atoms are 89
picometers smaller in radius than Iron atoms. Carbon atoms are considerably smaller
than Iron atoms as they are smaller than half the size of iron atoms. Because of the
small size of carbon, it will enter the iron crystal structure through interstitial
diffusion.
The Governing Equation for this diffusion is (C Co)/(Cs Co)=1 erf[ x/(2*(Dt)1/2)] .
This an equation for a non steady state diffusion process that has been derived from
Fick s Second Law which describes how atoms diffuse initially at a non steady state
and has been described in:
Diffusion can be used for this problem because of the carburization process that will
strengthen the steel cams. Carburization is a process in which our steel cams will be
heat treated in a high carbon environment. What will be going on during this heat
treatment, is the carbon in the atmosphere will be diffusing into the cams through
interstitial diffusion. The heat in the environment facilitates the diffusion. The carbon

The Southern Gothic Genre Of Literature
The southern gothic genre of literature can be described as plots involving violence
or hidden trauma, eccentric and often psychologically troubled characters, and an
atmosphere of repression and decay (Oxford Dictionary). This dark, depressing theme
found in literature is one that highlights the harsh realities that characters face in their
own geographic area. It is vital for southern gothicstories to incorporate the theme of
some type of external decay. In the texts Salvage the Bones and Swamplandia! we
can observe the struggles and consequences of simply where the characters find their
lives to be located at. Challenges are introduced to the lives of the characters in
Swamplandia! when they realize the truth of what they are up... Show more content

This idea of nothingness where the Bigtree children felt as if they weren t being
productive with their lives (enough to leave Swamplandia) may be due to their
surroundings. With the death of their star alligator wrestler mother, the theme park
started to decline. The amount of visitors to the island quickly diminished and
Swamplandia eventually saw a point of nobody stopping to see the alligators. It
also becomes apparent that the father of the Bigtree family had spent more money
than he had and the park had actually entered into great debt. In addition to this, the
theme park doesn t boom like it used to, so the Bigtree family could not make a
profit. Soon, with the accumulation of debt and no new visitors in line for a ticket,
it was inevitable that the Bigtree family would become poor. Kiwi responds to his
father s incompetence to guide the family into financially stable lives by leaving
the island to work on the mainland. In his note to his father he states, I am
relocating to Loomis County to raise funds to preclude what will otherwise result
in a fiscal cataclysm for our family and certain penury and insolvency (Russell 73).
The limitations set on financial resources (due to the park decline) is a central part
of the decay in this text. The father actually tries to make up for the money loss by
lying to his children, working at a casino, and staying at a motel for what he claims
to be for business. The
Drugs Is A Mixed Blessing
The use of drugs is a mixed blessing. On one hand, they could be used for medical
reasons, such as lowering severe pain or depression. These drugs are often
prescribed by a medical professional, and the patient is given the drug in moderate
doses. However, the use of drugs is typically for recreational purposes, which has
negative consequences. Drugs used for recreational purposes are used to alter
physical sensations, consciousness, thoughts, mood, and behaviors and ways that
users believe are desirable (Grison, S., Heatherton, T. F., Gazzaniga, M. S. 2016).
The continued use of drugs for recreational purposes often leads someone to become
addicted. Drug addictionis a rising problem in the United States. With the increase of
drug addiction, drug overdoses and deaths by overdose has increased. The rate of
deaths due to overdoses has increased 137% since 2000 (Rudd, R. A., Aleshire, N.,
Zibbell, J. E., Matthew Gladden, R. 2016). Even though drug overdoses are
increasing and the effects of drugs are known to be negative, people still use drugs
as a way to relax, and do not believe that they will become addicted. In order for a
drug to enter your body, it will need to be ingested, snorted, smoked, or injected.
Once the drug enters the body from one of the processes above, it will be absorbed
into the blood stream. The drug will then be transported throughout the body via the
blood stream. During this trip through the blood stream, the drug will disperse into
tissues and

Treatment of Ethnic Minorities by Nazi Germany Essay
Treatment of Ethnic Minorities by Nazi Germany
Hitler hated three kinds of people Jews, communists and democracy and in his view
they were all connected. Hitler believed that the Aryan people were the master race,
and most of theses people were Germans. He believed that Jews were an inferior

Germany. Anything Jewish was wrong. He spoke of a myth that the Jewish bankers
planned to break down the financial system and that this was a reason that war broke

He believed that the growth of Democracy in Europe was because of Jewish lies.
Immediately after the Nazi takeover in 1933. Gobbels and Julius Streicher began
to act violently against the Jews openly. Gangs of brown shirts physically attacked
Jews on the street and smashed their houses. In 1934 there was a law that Jews
were no longer allowed to join the civil service and were banned from work. In 1935
the Nuremberg Race Laws created a programme of legal persecution.
The NurembergRace Laws, 1935
* Marriage between Jews and Germans forbidden.
* Full Jews deprived of German citizenship.
* Full Jews defined as those having three Jewish grandparents.
Some Jews did fight back at this though. Groups of Jewish men who went to war
told people of the honourable role they played in the 1914 18 struggles. Handbills
were handed out which said that 12,000 Jew s died fighting for the nation. But these
little protests compared as nothing to what the Germans did. They used propaganda
to show that Jews were enemies of the Germans and were unworthy to be called
German citizens.
There was a story that a Jew had killed a German in Paris, the Nazi s started the
night which was known as Kristallnacht. On the 9th of November over 100 Jews
died in a series of violent attacks. There were broken windows, smashed homes

Case Study Of Adcombo
AdCombo and the New face of CPA Marketing
Since the dawn of affiliate marketing, advertisers and publishers have been looking to
find the right balance between quality links and higher payouts. Advertisers want to
make sure they only attract the right crowd to increase their conversion rate and
publishers want to make sure they get paid their worth while still maintaining the
integrity of their website/blog/media channel.
This need to find the right match is what gave rise to the popularity of affiliate
networks. Think of affiliate networks as matchmakers; they match advertisers with
the right publishers, they mediate all proceedings between the two parties, they make
sure both parties are getting what they came for, and they strive to ... Show more

Cons of using AdCombo for Publishers:
No Global Campaigns: The AdCombo platform doesn t allow you to run global

The website is too simplistic: Publishers like to make informed decisions. So while
a simple and slightly vague website may attract them the lack of information is

Zora Neale Hurston Analysis
Zora Neale Hurston grew up in Eatonville, Florida. Eatonville was the first
incorporated black town in the United States (Eatonville). Founded in 1886, it is
just one of over 100 such towns founded just before the 1900 s (Eatonville).
Growing up in exclusively a colored town (Hurston), Hurston had no awareness of
her coloredness. White people were merely the people who passed through the town.
Hurston stated that they differed from colored to me only in that they rode through

The Benefits Of Instant Ramen
Without a doubt, instant ramen has been consumed throughout the world. One can
find an instant ramen package at almost any supermarket, convenient stores, gas
stations, or even in vending machine in the U.S., as well as in many countries
throughout the world. Instant ramen has become so popular in the last decade
because they are convenient, quick and easy meals to prepare (Kwong). The cup
noodle is particularly suited to the rapid pace of modern living. Because, instant
ramencomes in a cup along with chopstick, all the customer needs to do is just to
pour the hot water into the cup and wait for a few minutes (Sarhan). Most of the
times, there is places with hot water available so that the customer can consume the
product immediately after purchase (Sarhan). As Ayman Sarhan said, instant noodles
have become a favorite for many college student, bachelors and people who work
overtime a lot (Sarhan). In addition, it is inexpensive to buy a package of instant
ramen. As Jaewon Yoon explain in his article, with the average packet costing a
consumer only 13 cents, you could eat three square meals a day for an entire year
for just $142.65 (Yoon). Perfect for people who are on a tight budget. Plus, it s
very difficult to get bored of eating it because of the many flavors there are to
choose from. Another thing is that the whole package is very lightweight and it s
perfect to be easily carried to work or outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, or
for traveling (Sarhan). But,

World Wide Consortium
Tim Bernes Lee in 1989 created the World Wide Web, and in 1994 he and a few
others established the World Wide Consortium. (a) The World Wide Consortium s
mission is to lead the world wide web to its full potential by developing protocols
and guidelines that ensure long term growth for the web (a). This is an international
organization with a variety of members making up the organization. They all have a
common goal which is to make the web standardized with rules and principles, and to
date they have made over eighty recommendations.(a)
The World WideConsortium has had three long standing goals. These are to provide

difficulty because of clutter, complex web arrangements, and unclear navigation

unfair equal access law, however the commission is ready to take action and they
would have a good chance in court.(F) Any company that chooses to not change their

Coming up with a way for people who are blind to access the web has been a major
challenge. In 1999, the organization developed computer programming guidelines so
that people who are blind can have access to the internet; nevertheless these
guidelines are currently only followed if the company wants too. A few countries
have made these guidelines the law, leading this practice is Britain. In the US these
guidelines and recommendations are only required if you belong to a federal
company or if you work on government contracts. Other companies are encouraged to
follow the guidelines because they will benefit the company and may avoid future law

many. Washington s views on the independence of America as well as his Federalist
mindset towards the Ratification of the Constitution was able to later name himself

leading a nation. He being a Federalist, was believed and trusted to not abuse the
power of being head of a more centralized government. Washington was then later
asked to serve as a delegate at the Constitutional conventions. While being an
administrator, he truly believed America could create a foundational and strong
centralized government to better the people (Janda). Moreover, as for the
ratification process, Washington states, What will be the general opinion on, or the

My Moment In My Life
High Point A moment in my life that stands out as an especially positive experience
is when I graduated high school. The day occurred on June 15, 2015 at the Jiffy
Lube live arena stage in my hometown of Manassas, Virginia. The people involved
in this positive experience were myself, my mother, father, sister, family friends,
my friends, administrators, teachers, and peers. I woke up in the morning around
9:00 am, showered, got dressed packed all of my essentials for my graduation, and
drove to one of my friend s house where all of my friends and I got ready for
graduation. My friends and I spent several hours getting ready, taking, photos for
our family members before our ceremony. Then we went to the graduation location
and waited for an hour in our designated spots for when walk out. The ceremony
began at 7:00, the speakers spoke for about 30 minutes, then names were called.
My named was called early on, I walked across the stage, my mom calling my name
out, I smiled to her as I spotted her in the crowd. Then I shook the hands of the
administrators, received my diploma and walked of the stage. On this day I was
thinking about how I was finally going to finish my four year long journey. At that
point every choice I had made in my academic career led to this moment of
accomplishment. I was also thinking of how it was a long process to get to my
graduation day and that walking across the stage not only would be positive for me,
but for others who were important to me and a
Monster Clytemnestra In Aeschylus Oresteia
The Monster Clytemnestra in Aeschylus Oresteia
In the three part play Oresteia, Clytemnestra is a character that manipulates, lies,
cheats, and murders. From the very first moment we hear of her existence, we know
she is unlike the women of her time. Oh she s a woman all right, a woman with a
man s heart. (11) the watchman in the first scene of Agamemnontells the audience.
This tells us that she does not act in a way that the watchman associates with the
women around him. Already, in the first few lines of the first installment of the play,
we know that Clytemnestra is different. Throughout the play, Clytemnestra tries as
hard as she can to keep herself on top, stopping at nothing to get what she wants.
She wants to rule the city and she wants to have power over the people in her life.
She is power hungry, manipulative, and determined. This determination is not a
good thing for the people around Clytemnestra. Because of her need for power, she
ends up turning on almost everyone she is supposed to love. This is what leads to
her eventual death. Clytemnestra is a dynamic character, who does everything she
can to be on top killing, lying, cheating, and murdering are just a few of these
things. She does not care who she hurts, or what she does to get where she wants to

The Driving Causes Of The Taranaki War
Causes of the Taranaki conflict of the 1860s and beyond
There were a number of driving causes of the Taranaki wars. The four most
significant driving causes of the Taranaki wars include the Musket Wars, conflicting
beliefs about sovereignty between the Maori and Pakeha, conflicting beliefs about
land ownership between the Maori and Pakeha and the selling of the Pekapeka block.
A significant cause of the Taranaki wars is the Musket Wars
. Musket wars were inter
tribal wars between different Maori tribes in the 1820s/18230s. They were one of
the most lethal inter tribal wars in Maori history due to the introduction of
Muskets by the British. Historically, Maori wars were fought in the Autumn after
food had been stored for the winter. Hand to hand weapons such as mere and patu
were used and wars were ritualised activities which caused few deaths. Maori had
non violent ways of resolving disputes. These include tactics such as diplomacy,
arranged marriages, gifts, asset stripping and escape to avoid war. The leader of
the Ngapuhi tribe, Hongi Hika was seen as responsible for the Musket Wars. Hongi
s uncle and two brothers were killed in a battle with Ngati Whatua, and Hongi felt
obliged to avenge them. The musket wars were New Zealand wide, and the Northern
rivals Ngapuhi and Ngati Whatu led the way, however the heaviest fighting took
place between Ngati Toa and Ngai Tahu in the South Island. Ngai Puhu first used
muskets in battle in 1807. In 1818, Ngapuhi began to use muskets in battle,
wreaking havoc down the North Island. Hongi led his taua south, destroying 50
Maori villages along the east coast. 2000 people were enslaved for labour to produce
profits to purchase Muskets. In 1821, Hongi acquired 300 muskets, escalating the
fighting. He then attacked rivals in Auckland, capturing another 2000 slaves. Maori
without muskets were forced to trade with the British for them in order to survive.
Tribes threatened with attack had no choice but to buy their own guns and launch
their own campaigns. The fighting reached a height in the 1820s. In 1822, Te
Rauparaha led the Ngati Toa tribe down the North Island, attacking other tribes along
the way. Taranaki iwifled south to join a confederation which defeated opposing
The Azusa Street Revival
Allan Anderson, a reader at the Graduate Institute for Theology and Religion, states
that Pentecostalism received global recognition during the events at Azusa Street in
spite of having various origins in the beginning of the twentieth century (Anderson
180). The intense apocalyptic eschatology of the Pentecostals thus created a self
appraisal that their movement was something profoundly original and which had few
precedents in Christian history, suggests Steven Hunt, author of A History of the
Charismatic Movement in Britain and the United States of America (117). Joe
Creech, a doctoral candidate in history at the University of Notre Dame, suggests that
Pentecostals believed Azusa was the place where God would reestablish the church.

Gorman reports that manifestation of the Holy Spirit took precedence over the rules
of dogma. He explains that the unorthodox church practices, which allowed any
person to speak behind a pulpit, created discord among the congregation (Gorman
520). Ben Pugh, a Lecturer in Theology at Cliff College, UK, describes how William
Seymour implemented a third aspect of the evidence of speaking in tongues to the
Wesleyan belief system (Pugh 17). Hegertun explains that rather than attacking the
dogmatic positions of others the evidence of the Holy Spirit and charismatic gifting
served as justification of their theology (37 38). Pugh states that the trifold aspect of
theology is implemented to date by the Holiness Pentecostals with the majority being
African American (17). He also reveals that by 1910, the end result would be a
metamorphosis of American Pentecostals to the trifold model of sanctification (Pugh
17). Hunt explains that receiving the gift of utterance, according to Synan, is the
driving force behind Pentecostalism (117). Dodson proposes that the evidence of the
gifts of the Holy Spirit happening at the revival demonstrated God s authority and
existence (52). Hunt reports there were numerous personal accounts of healings,
deliverance, and miracles (116). He reveals that by 1914, all churches implemented

Why Did I Get Married
In the movie why did I get married it opens by showing all the couples and their
problems that they are going through. These couple are all successful and friends
with each other. The group of friends once a year plan a trip out to a random
location to get away and spend time with their significate other. The point of the
trip was not only to hangout with their friends but also for the couples to get to
know each other more and remember why they got married from the beginning. As
the group all worked on their relationship, a couple did not want nothing to do with
each other except that what mike wanted. Mike was an ass to shiela that critized
her about being obbesed and ugly she was. Shiela ignored all the rud comments that
was given to her by mike her husband because she believed that if he see her how
hard she trying to save their marriage he might want to give it a chance to be happy.
Mike and shiela did not end up working out because they ignored the five stages
which are initiating, experimenting, intensifying, intergrading, and boding. These
five stages could of save and fix relationshipos if both parties are willing to try. From
the beginning , the first stage is initiating. Initiating is when two people meet they
show that they are interested in each other enough to communicate with one and
another. This stage is mostly based on cominication on getting to know the other
person. For example this stages revolves around simply conversation and touch.

The Problem Of Environmental Racism
In this paper, we are going to provide a quick overview of what environmental
justice is and when this phenomenon started to then analyze the dilemma of
environmental racism in minorities neighborhoods. At the same time we will try to
present some solutions to the matter as well as explain if we believe that this kind
of social race problem could be addressed in a near future or it will be ignored and
forgotten by the new generations. The environmental justicemovement is tightly
related to the Civil Rights act created in 1964 and the work of Dr. Martin Luther
King. Many believe that the real origin of the movement was in Warren County,
North Carolina when residents protested about a landfill placed in their county
causing some serious environmental pollution. After this event, communities around
the country mainly low income, reported similar impacts in their neighborhood and
land, making everyone aware of a new wave of racial discrimination, reason enough
to get the attention of human rightsactivists who promptly took action and a new
political agenda was created. The environmental movement main purpose is to
seek change in the abuse of decisions made by people in power to the
disproportional exposure of color people and other racial minorities to polluted air,
soil and water causing long term health effects by allowing the construction of waste
or nuclear facilities in the same segregated area were poor people are located. Based
on the description above many
The Death Of A Helmet
It all happened in a matter of seconds. He had decided to ride his motorcycle that
day to work, unaware that it was going to rain later than evening. The roads were
slick with rain and various other fluids, making the ride home a challenge. He was
careful. At least, he thought he was. Turning his head to look at the billboard on
the side of the road, his front tire hit a pothole. Beyond the face shield of his
helmet, the terror on his face was evident as he lost control of bike and began to
slide across the pavement. Though he wore a helmet, it was ill fitting and it came
off as the out of control bike dragged him across the pavement. The friction from the
bike sliding across the asphalt caused sparks. Unfortunately, a car with an oil leak...

Unfortunately, nothing would have been done to make his appearance more
appealing to the eye. That is, until we entered the age of bioengineering. By
definition, biomedical engineering, or more affectionately known as bioengineering,
is the use of engineering philosophies in correlation with the fields of biology and
health care. It can range from from electrical and mechanics to the chemistry side of
the equation. Examples of this include, but are not limited to, prosthetic limbs, lab
grown organs, and implanted devices such as pace makers and insulin pumps.
Though the actual foundation of bioengineering is unclear, the earliest example is a
wood and leather prosthetic toe found on a three thousand year old Egyptian mummy
(Lucas, 2004). Some noteworthy individuals include John Charnley s artificial hip
replacement(1961), Wilson Greatbatch s internal cardiac pacemaker(1970), and
Charles Hufnagel s artificial heart valve(1960). Being a branch of bioengineering,
regenerative medicine is the process of recreating human cells, tissues, or organ in
order to restore normal function. Regrowing organs to replaced damaged or
unhealthy ones, regenerating healthy tissue as a replacement to their diseased
counterparts, and speeding up the process of organ s healing themselves are all
examples of regenerative medicine. To do this, medical personnel must use stem
cells. Stem cells, according to Stewart Sell, are

Biocultural Analysis of Gattaca Movie (1997)
Introduction
Gattaca is an American based science fiction cinema directed by Andrew Niccol in
1997. The movie is set shortly where social class is demarcated by the genetic
composition. Eugenics, which is the methodology of conceiving babies via genetic
manipulation, has become the most typical process of giving birth (Niccol, 2015).
Though discrimination is unlawful, the D.N.A analysis has become an ordinary
procedure, and those who were naturally conceived are seen as invalids , which
makes discriminated in various, for instance, resulting in being given minor jobs.
Therefore, this research presents the summary, the biocultural phenomenon, and the
real world implications of Gattaca (1997) movie.
Media Summary
The film, Gattaca (1997) is set shortly where genetically conceived babies are
preferred to those that are born naturally. The main characters in this film include
Vincent Jerome, Eugene, Irene, Director Josef, Detective Hugo, and Anton. Vincent
Freeman is among the last children to be naturally conceived. After his birth, the
physicians tell his parents of his many limitations, in particular, that his lifespan is
estimated to be 30.2 years (Niccol, 2015). Vincent decides to travel to the stars.
However, he is categorized by the society as not suitable regarding his genetic
composition, and he has turned out to be among the discriminated humans who are
only offered menial careers. To proceed with his mission, he assumes Jerome
Morrow s identity since the latter had a perfect genetic composition and was
paraplegic due to his involvement in a car accident. Vincent manages to deceive the
urine and DNA sample testing after following a professional advice. However, his
mission becomes jeopardized when his program director is murdered, and a fresh
investigation is tabled.
Biocultural Phenomenon
In the near future, when the idea of genetic engineering is common among humans,
and the DNA plays an integral part in identifying one s social class, Vincent is
conceived and born naturally without the assistance of genetic engineering
technologies. He suffers from the almost eliminated physical deformations of
congenital heart disease and myopia, and

Structure Of Compare And Contrast Essay. Comparison and Contrast

  • 1. Structure Of Compare And Contrast Essay Writing an essay on the structure of a compare and contrast essay can be challenging, primarily because it requires a thorough understanding of the components that make up this type of writing. To start with, one needs to grasp the fundamental purpose of a compare and contrast essay: to analyze similarities and differences between two or more subjects, events, concepts, or ideas. Crafting such an essay demands careful consideration of various elements, including the selection of suitable topics for comparison, the establishment of clear criteria for comparison, and the organization of ideas in a coherent and logical manner. Moreover, writers must navigate the intricacies of presenting balanced arguments while avoiding bias towards any particular viewpoint. The structural framework of a compare and contrast essay typically involves an introduction that provides background information and introduces the subjects under examination, followed by body paragraphs that delve into specific points of comparison or contrast. Each paragraph should focus on a single aspect of comparison and offer evidence, examples, or analysis to support the writer's assertions. Transition words and phrases are essential for maintaining coherence and guiding readers through the essay's flow. Furthermore, crafting a compelling conclusion that synthesizes the main points and reinforces the significance of the comparison can be particularly challenging. The conclusion should leave a lasting impression on the reader and offer insights or implications that extend beyond the immediate scope of the essay. In essence, writing an essay on the structure of a compare and contrast essay requires not only a deep understanding of the subject matter but also proficiency in analytical thinking, organizational skills, and effective communication. It demands meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to clarity and coherence throughout the writing process. Similar essays and much more can be ordered on HelpWriting.net. • 4. Nuit of the Living Dead Essay Nuit of the Living Dead by David Sedaris Nuit of the Living Dead written by David Sedaris, the setting in rural France leads to part of the comedic element of this story. Reading this story very much feels like trying to follow an ADD chipmunk. There are generally several thought patterns running simultaneously throughout the entire thing. It s a quick, fun, charmingly quirky read. One of the most charming parts is the internal dialog of the main character that s constantly drizzled through the entire story. It lends such a drawing part to this story; makes it very much more captivating. About halfway into the story and it started to feel so much like a peek into my own mind that I couldn t help but chuckle a little and think to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The driver of the van struggles with a thick accent which no doubt had I been in the author s position it would have taken a great effort to stay composed. Sometimes inappropriate, not so politically correct humor is some of the funniest out there, which this writer realizes and dances so delicately along the line between funny and crass. That s what makes this story so charming for the most part. There is a line midway through that makes me snicker every single time I read it. Either he had a speech impediment or the letter v did not exist in his native language. Whatever the case, I wanted him to say it again. Paragraph thirty four is probably my favorite in the entire story, the author is seeing his living room through the eyes of his guest. As he starts to scan his living room the oddities and slightly askew parts of his life leaps out at him. He starts to feel like he probably looks like a serial killer. It s a very funny and quirky ride through what someone picks out with they come in a stranger s house; unconnected and unrelated things to us in our everyday lives looks insanely intimidating and too ordered to just be chance to strangers. There seemed to be a theme developing, and everything I saw appeared to substantiate it: the almanac of guns and firearms suddenly prominent on the
  • 5. Essay A Wandering Mind Is An Unhappy Mind During the time between waking up and going to bed about 50,000 to 70,000 thoughts go through one person s head. Most of those thoughts happen during a process called mind wandering . There are a lot of techniques used to minimize mind wandering . To Matthew Killingsworth and Daniel Gilbert this meant that mind wandering was a bad thing. They studied to find the answer and as a result wrote A Wandering Mind Is an Unhappy Mind . Matthew Killingsworth and Daniel Gilbert are psychologists who study happiness as well as all of the other emotions. Together they started a study to find out if a wandering mind really make you unhappy. They introduced an app to record this study. This app is only for apple users. It activates at random moments during their waking hours . When this app activates it asks you questions such as how are you feeling right now? , and what are you doing right now? if I had an apple anything I would go get the app right away. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this article they describe how mind wandering appears to be the brains default mode of operation . This means that during the times of the day where you are not actively thinking about thinking, your mind still thinks. This is when the question of whether or not this makes us as humans unhappy, comes into play. A lot of people suggest that in order to be happy you have to be living in the moment . The study is a study to see about its emotional consequences . Unfortunately it is not easily possible to get results for this study. Matthew Killingsworth and Daniel Gilbert had to dig a little deeper to get results for this study.

Journal Of Research On Adolescence (Wiley Blackwell), 24(1), 93 116. doi:10.1111/jora.12062 Description Researchers have been begun to emphasize how young individuals use their personal strengths and abilities to persevere through difficult situations and create a more positive outcome for themselves. However, current research connecting this strengths based approach to African Americanyouth development is very scarce. First, I would implement trauma and diversity trainings for all educators and staff members in schools that focus on how trauma experiences can impact an individual s emotional and behavioral development and their ability to succeed academically and in other settings. The diversity portion of this training would focus on the cultural differences that are experienced by individuals of different races and ethnicities because it is important to be culturally sensitive, especially when teaching young minority individuals. Secondly, my practicum placement is in OKC public schools and the school social workers in the district serve very high need populations and many individuals have a negative connotation of the students who attend these schools. I will work to change the negative dialogue that surrounds these schools to a positive one, so that the individuals who are guiding these children through the school system will not continue to lower their expectations of these students and negatively impact their educational experience. I will do this by only focusing on the student s strengths when conversing with teachers and principals. Thirdly, I would advocate for schools to make it a part of their curriculum to allow students to explore their heritages in the hopes of helping students create positive ethnic identities, which has been linked to positive outcomes for

  • 8. Acupuncture Definition The clinical effectiveness of acupuncture has remained inclusive and continued to attract heated debates. Many trying acupuncture often hold the belief that acupuncture may help or entirely due to cultural curiosity. The majority of studies, in particular the German randomised controlled trials, show that acupuncturehas better physiological effects for chronic painconditions than the conventional standard therapy. Frequent interpretation of the results from the GERAC shows a clear advantage of both real and sham acupuncture over conventional therapy, which implies that acupuncture is a useful intervention without doubt. Approximately 50% of patients in real and sham acupuncture groups experienced therapeutic effects whereas only 25% of patients ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The studies comparing real acupuncture and sham acupuncture was designed to demarcate the physiologic from psychological, specific from nonspecific, effects of acupuncture. There are two fundamental assumptions behind these studies: acupuncture points precisely recorded exist, needling at non acupuncture does not generate significant physiologic effects. However, these assumptions are heavily criticised, which indicates the little difference cannot disprove the effectiveness of acupuncture. By tracing the historical description of acupuncture points and comparing to the modern concepts, classical acupuncture points are not precisely defined spots but rather more vaguely defined areas, thus real and sham acupuncture points cannot be accurately defined. Furthermore, some studies found that insertion of needles at non acupuncture points produces real analgesic effect. This can be explained by a mechanism called diffuse noxious inhibitory control that is activated under minimal needling without applying any stimulation. Accordingly, the effectiveness of sham acupuncture and the demarcation of specific/nonspecific effects imply that opponents are scarcely in a position to argue persuasively that acupuncture is associated with no effects beyond placebo
  • 9. Marilyn Monroe Informative Speech The year is 1962. The audience of Madison Square Garden is packed full of the rich and famous. Among them sits the guest of honor in all his glory, President John F. Kennedy. All eyes are tuned into the stage, among it stands a blond bombshell crooning into a microphone. The words Happy Birthday Mr. President slip through her lips in a light breathy voice. To her family she is Norma Jeane but to the world, she is Marilyn Monroe(Thomson, 2016). She was a sex symbol, a pinnacle for women, and an all around icon. Marilyn s persona appealed to the masses as effortless. But contrary to those beliefs, her efforts were thought through and calculated. During her childhood little Norma Jeane was shy and plagued by low self esteem (Victor, 1999).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Marilyn didn t spend time with speech pathologists but instead with drama and vocal coaches (Victor, 1999). These coaches helped her harness and control her stutter and instead take her struggle and turn it into something positive. In the beginning of her career, Marilyn s voice was described as a tight squeak (Victor, 1999). Through the guides of her vocal coaches the voice we all know and recognize as Marilyn Monroe, was created. To a large extent, the Marilyn voice of the first half of her career, with its exaggerated clarity and staccato stressing of d and t , was the result of tutoring from Lytess (Victor, 1999). Lytess encouraged her to lower her tone and from that rose Marilyn s infamous breathy seductive timbre. It is believed that this change in how she speaks, almost as if in character, is what cured Marilyn s stutter (Victor, 1999). The idea of modifying ones tone, proves to be a successful method of therapy in the world of speech pathology Many of the current therapies for teens and adults who stutter focus on helping them learn ways to minimize stuttering when they speak, such as by speaking more slowly, regulating their breathing, or gradually progressing from single syllable responses to longer words and more complex sentences. Most of these therapies also help address the anxiety a person who stutters may feel
  • 10. Theme Of Punishment By Seamus Heaney As is evident in several of his works, Seamus Heaney was preoccupied by the sectarian subject during the period known as the Troubles in Northern Ireland. However, other preoccupations emanated from it: his need to find his poetic voice when pressured to speak for his own community; and the etymological study of the local landscape and its colloquialism. Firstly, this essay will analyse how Heaney dealt directly with the sectarian subject through three strands; pre Troubles sectarianism, internal community sectarian punishment and the sectarian murder of family and friends. Secondly, it will examine the development of his poetic voice in his attempt to determine his role as a poet. Thirdly, it will also assess Heaney s etymological study of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The poets voice is one of a voyeur, visualising the past life of a girl who was punished for adultery. After a description that enlivens the bog body, the poem culminates with Heaney addressing the paralysing emotional experience of being a voyeur to such tribal, intimate revenge. Heaney measures his sense of injustice against a community s brutal intolerance of rules perceived to have been violated. He illustrates the troubling irony: stone age justice that puts an adulteress to death is not so far removed from contemporary Northern Irish society that punishes when a community s sectarian rules are seen to be breached. Parker puts it that conflicting loyalties, pity and guilt, private and collective, supply Punishment with its emotional charge. The Grauballe Man provides a close description of an iconic bog body on display and reveals Heaney s emotional responses to it. The first half of the poem is a description of each part of the bog body. Heaney uses dark imagery in conjunction with distinctly human qualities to give the man a spiritual persistence: the black river of himself. The poem then speculates on his past life and ends with him shedding the memories of that past. The idea that man s barbaric treatment of his fellows is never far away; associated ideas link the fate of Grauballe Man with contemporary events in Northern

  • 12. Verbal Irony In Animal Farm Why is irony so commonly used? Animal Farm is about the Russian Revolution where the animals take over the farm and overthrow their owner, Jones, who is a human. They promise that they will never act like humans because Jones treated them so badly but they break that promise. In George Orwell s novel Animal Farm, the irony is used to show how power can corrupt those who have it. Throughout the book he uses all three methods of irony to convey that idea. Dramatic irony is the type of irony that is used the most and the type that is the most obvious, but situational and verbal irony are used too. First of all, verbal irony is when the speaker says the opposite of what they mean. This is used in Animal Farm throughout the book as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This third and final type of irony is constantly used in books and movies. In Animal Farm, it is used to show the reader how corrupt the pigs are becoming, at times when the other animals may not realize it. The author demonstrates when the pigs start getting suspicious when Napoleon tells the animals: Nevermind the milk, comrades! That will be attended to. The harvest is more important. Comrade Snowball will lead the way. I shall follow in a few minutes (p.16). When the animals came back in the evening they noticed that the milk had disappeared. This seems pretty obvious to the readers that Napoleon is the one who drank all the milk but the other animals would not even think of the possibility that Napoleon is the one that stole the milk. Later, after Snowball had been kicked off the farm, Napoleon announced that he found out that Snowball had been an ally of Jones since the beginning. At this moment, he asks if any other animals knew about this and demanded that they step forward. Napoleon then got his wild dogs to rip their throats out and he even attempted to kill Boxer, the brave horse. A few days after this incident, the animals recalled that the Sixth Commandment No animal shall kill any other animal had been broken. But when Muriel read it, it ran No animal shall kill any other animal without cause (p.61). It is obvious to the audience that this commandment had been changed because if they flip back the book to the beginning, the original list of Commandments are still there and the last two words without cause were not there. The irony strongly displays that all this power given to Napoleon has gone to his head, so much so that he has resorted to killing his
  • 13. How Candidiasis Is A Fungal Infection Caused By Yeasts Candidiasis: Overview and Causes Candidiasis is a fungal infection caused by yeasts that belong to the genus Candida. There are at least 15 distinct Candida species that cause human disease, but 90% of invasive disease is caused by the 5 most common pathogens, C. albicans, C. glabrata, C. tropicalis, C. parapsilosis, and C. krusei with candida albicans being the most prevalent.(Ostrosky Zeichner et al., 2015) Candida yeasts normally reside in the intestinal tract and can be found on mucous membranes and skin without causing infection; however, overgrowth of these organisms can cause symptoms to develop. Symptoms of candidiasis vary depending on the area of the body that is infected.(CDC, 2016e) The different types of Candidiasis are determined by the area of the body they affect. Oropharyngeal candidiasis, otherwise known as Thrush, inhabits the buccal cavity or throat. Candidiasis of the vagina is commonly referred to as a yeast infection. The most clinically significant version of candidiasis is invasive candidiasis, which happens as a result of a candida species entering the bloodstream and spreading throughout the body. Invasive candidiasis is primarily found in immunocompromised patients such as those suffering from HIV, undergoing corticosteroid therapy, chemotherapy, or those with diabetes. Candidiasis: Signs and Symptoms and Sequelae Thrush is relatively easy to recognise as white patches can be observed on the tongue and other oral mucous membranes. Symptoms

Daria Hall, K 12 policy director at the Education Trust, says that students of color have less access to high level courses. Black students are categorized as dumb, dropouts. This is not the case at all, this is only a small percentage. Judging a whole race because of something few students do is absurd. Because of the small size of carbon, it will enter the iron crystal structure through interstitial diffusion. The Governing Equation for this diffusion is (C Co)/(Cs Co)=1 erf[ x/(2*(Dt)1/2)] . This an equation for a non steady state diffusion process that has been derived from Fick s Second Law which describes how atoms diffuse initially at a non steady state and has been described in: Diffusion can be used for this problem because of the carburization process that will strengthen the steel cams. Carburization is a process in which our steel cams will be heat treated in a high carbon environment. What will be going on during this heat treatment, is the carbon in the atmosphere will be diffusing into the cams through interstitial diffusion. The heat in the environment facilitates the diffusion. The carbon diffuses from

The Southern Gothic Genre Of Literature The southern gothic genre of literature can be described as plots involving violence or hidden trauma, eccentric and often psychologically troubled characters, and an atmosphere of repression and decay (Oxford Dictionary). This dark, depressing theme found in literature is one that highlights the harsh realities that characters face in their own geographic area. It is vital for southern gothicstories to incorporate the theme of some type of external decay. In the texts Salvage the Bones and Swamplandia! we can observe the struggles and consequences of simply where the characters find their lives to be located at. This idea of nothingness where the Bigtree children felt as if they weren t being productive with their lives (enough to leave Swamplandia) may be due to their surroundings. With the death of their star alligator wrestler mother, the theme park started to decline. The amount of visitors to the island quickly diminished and Swamplandia eventually saw a point of nobody stopping to see the alligators. It also becomes apparent that the father of the Bigtree family had spent more money than he had and the park had actually entered into great debt. In addition to this, the theme park doesn t boom like it used to, so the Bigtree family could not make a profit. Soon, with the accumulation of debt and no new visitors in line for a ticket, it was inevitable that the Bigtree family would become poor. Kiwi responds to his father s incompetence to guide the family into financially stable lives by leaving the island to work on the mainland. In his note to his father he states, I am relocating to Loomis County to raise funds to preclude what will otherwise result in a fiscal cataclysm for our family and certain penury and insolvency (Russell 73). The limitations set on financial resources (due to the park decline) is a central part of the decay in this text. The father actually tries to make up for the money loss by lying to his children, working at a casino, and staying at a motel for what he claims to be for business. The
  • 32. Drugs Is A Mixed Blessing The use of drugs is a mixed blessing. On one hand, they could be used for medical reasons, such as lowering severe pain or depression. These drugs are often prescribed by a medical professional, and the patient is given the drug in moderate doses. However, the use of drugs is typically for recreational purposes, which has negative consequences. Drugs used for recreational purposes are used to alter physical sensations, consciousness, thoughts, mood, and behaviors and ways that users believe are desirable (Grison, S., Heatherton, T. F., Gazzaniga, M. S. 2016). The continued use of drugs for recreational purposes often leads someone to become addicted. Drug addictionis a rising problem in the United States. With the increase of drug addiction, drug overdoses and deaths by overdose has increased. The rate of deaths due to overdoses has increased 137% since 2000 (Rudd, R. A., Aleshire, N., Zibbell, J. E., Matthew Gladden, R. 2016). Even though drug overdoses are increasing and the effects of drugs are known to be negative, people still use drugs as a way to relax, and do not believe that they will become addicted. In order for a drug to enter your body, it will need to be ingested, snorted, smoked, or injected. Once the drug enters the body from one of the processes above, it will be absorbed into the blood stream. The drug will then be transported throughout the body via the blood stream. During this trip through the blood stream, the drug will disperse into tissues and

  • 47. The Driving Causes Of The Taranaki War Causes of the Taranaki conflict of the 1860s and beyond There were a number of driving causes of the Taranaki wars. The four most significant driving causes of the Taranaki wars include the Musket Wars, conflicting beliefs about sovereignty between the Maori and Pakeha, conflicting beliefs about land ownership between the Maori and Pakeha and the selling of the Pekapeka block. A significant cause of the Taranaki wars is the Musket Wars . Musket wars were inter tribal wars between different Maori tribes in the 1820s/18230s. They were one of the most lethal inter tribal wars in Maori history due to the introduction of Muskets by the British. Historically, Maori wars were fought in the Autumn after food had been stored for the winter. Hand to hand weapons such as mere and patu were used and wars were ritualised activities which caused few deaths. Maori had non violent ways of resolving disputes. These include tactics such as diplomacy, arranged marriages, gifts, asset stripping and escape to avoid war. The leader of the Ngapuhi tribe, Hongi Hika was seen as responsible for the Musket Wars. Hongi s uncle and two brothers were killed in a battle with Ngati Whatua, and Hongi felt obliged to avenge them. The musket wars were New Zealand wide, and the Northern rivals Ngapuhi and Ngati Whatu led the way, however the heaviest fighting took place between Ngati Toa and Ngai Tahu in the South Island. Ngai Puhu first used muskets in battle in 1807. In 1818, Ngapuhi began to use muskets in battle, wreaking havoc down the North Island. Hongi led his taua south, destroying 50 Maori villages along the east coast. 2000 people were enslaved for labour to produce profits to purchase Muskets. In 1821, Hongi acquired 300 muskets, escalating the fighting. He then attacked rivals in Auckland, capturing another 2000 slaves. Maori without muskets were forced to trade with the British for them in order to survive. Tribes threatened with attack had no choice but to buy their own guns and launch their own campaigns. The fighting reached a height in the 1820s. In 1822, Te Rauparaha led the Ngati Toa tribe down the North Island, attacking other tribes along the way. The Azusa Street Revival Allan Anderson, a reader at the Graduate Institute for Theology and Religion, states that Pentecostalism received global recognition during the events at Azusa Street in spite of having various origins in the beginning of the twentieth century (Anderson 180). The intense apocalyptic eschatology of the Pentecostals thus created a self appraisal that their movement was something profoundly original and which had few precedents in Christian history, suggests Steven Hunt, author of A History of the Charismatic Movement in Britain and the United States of America (117). He explains that the unorthodox church practices, which allowed any person to speak behind a pulpit, created discord among the congregation (Gorman 520). Hegertun explains that rather than attacking the dogmatic positions of others the evidence of the Holy Spirit and charismatic gifting served as justification of their theology (37 38). Pugh states that the trifold aspect of theology is implemented to date by the Holiness Pentecostals with the majority being African American (17). He also reveals that by 1910, the end result would be a metamorphosis of American Pentecostals to the trifold model of sanctification (Pugh 17). The environmental justicemovement is tightly related to the Civil Rights act created in 1964 and the work of Dr. Martin Luther King. Many believe that the real origin of the movement was in Warren County, North Carolina when residents protested about a landfill placed in their county causing some serious environmental pollution. After this event, communities around the country mainly low income, reported similar impacts in their neighborhood and land, making everyone aware of a new wave of racial discrimination, reason enough to get the attention of human rightsactivists who promptly took action and a new political agenda was created. The environmental movement main purpose is to seek change in the abuse of decisions made by people in power to the disproportional exposure of color people and other racial minorities to polluted air, soil and water causing long term health effects by allowing the construction of waste or nuclear facilities in the same segregated area were poor people are located. Based on the description above many
  • 51. The Death Of A Helmet It all happened in a matter of seconds. He had decided to ride his motorcycle that day to work, unaware that it was going to rain later than evening. The roads were slick with rain and various other fluids, making the ride home a challenge. He was careful. At least, he thought he was. Turning his head to look at the billboard on the side of the road, his front tire hit a pothole. Beyond the face shield of his helmet, the terror on his face was evident as he lost control of bike and began to slide across the pavement. Though he wore a helmet, it was ill fitting and it came off as the out of control bike dragged him across the pavement. The friction from the bike sliding across the asphalt caused sparks. Unfortunately, a car with an oil leak... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unfortunately, nothing would have been done to make his appearance more appealing to the eye. That is, until we entered the age of bioengineering. By definition, biomedical engineering, or more affectionately known as bioengineering, is the use of engineering philosophies in correlation with the fields of biology and health care. It can range from from electrical and mechanics to the chemistry side of the equation. Examples of this include, but are not limited to, prosthetic limbs, lab grown organs, and implanted devices such as pace makers and insulin pumps. Though the actual foundation of bioengineering is unclear, the earliest example is a wood and leather prosthetic toe found on a three thousand year old Egyptian mummy (Lucas, 2004). Some noteworthy individuals include John Charnley s artificial hip replacement(1961), Wilson Greatbatch s internal cardiac pacemaker(1970), and Charles Hufnagel s artificial heart valve(1960). Being a branch of bioengineering, regenerative medicine is the process of recreating human cells, tissues, or organ in order to restore normal function. Regrowing organs to replaced damaged or unhealthy ones, regenerating healthy tissue as a replacement to their diseased counterparts, and speeding up the process of organ s healing themselves are all examples of regenerative medicine. To do this, medical personnel must use stem cells. Stem cells, according to Stewart Sell, are

Biocultural Analysis Of Gattaca Student Name Date Biocultural Analysis of Gattaca Movie (1997) Introduction Gattaca is an American based science fiction cinema directed by Andrew Niccol in 1997. The movie is set shortly where social class is demarcated by the genetic composition. Eugenics, which is the methodology of conceiving babies via genetic manipulation, has become the most typical process of giving birth (Niccol, 2015). Though discrimination is unlawful, the D.N.A analysis has become an ordinary procedure, and those who were naturally conceived are seen as invalids , which makes discriminated in various, for instance, resulting in being given minor jobs. Therefore, this research presents the summary, the biocultural phenomenon, and the real world implications of Gattaca (1997) movie. Media Summary The film, Gattaca (1997) is set shortly where genetically conceived babies are preferred to those that are born naturally. The main characters in this film include Vincent Jerome, Eugene, Irene, Director Josef, Detective Hugo, and Anton. Vincent Freeman is among the last children to be naturally conceived. After his birth, the physicians tell his parents of his many limitations, in particular, that his lifespan is estimated to be 30.2 years (Niccol, 2015). Vincent decides to travel to the stars. However, he is categorized by the society as not suitable regarding his genetic composition, and he has turned out to be among the discriminated humans who are only offered menial careers. To proceed with his mission, he assumes Jerome Morrow s identity since the latter had a perfect genetic composition and was paraplegic due to his involvement in a car accident. Vincent manages to deceive the urine and DNA sample testing after following a professional advice. However, his mission becomes jeopardized when his program director is murdered, and a fresh investigation is tabled. Biocultural Phenomenon In the near future, when the idea of genetic engineering is common among humans, and the DNA plays an integral part in identifying one s social class, Vincent is conceived and born naturally without the assistance of genetic engineering technologies. He suffers from the almost eliminated physical deformations of congenital heart disease and myopia, and
