A Study Based on Rosenbergs Research
A STUDY BASED ON ROSENBERG S RESEARCH (1979)
Abstract
The development of children s identity particularly their self perceptions, is of a widespread interest.
This small scale study was based on previous research by Rosenberg (1979). The aim was to
determine the differences between self descriptions and the shift of the locus of self knowledge with
age. The design involved semi structured interviews of two participants aged 8 and 16 years. The
participants wrote some statements about who they were, which were coded according to Rosenberg s
(1979) themes of self descriptions. The responses about the locus of self knowledge were also
analysed to assess the shift with age and other themes were also analysed. The results showed that ...

Design
This small scale study involved qualitative analysis of two semi structured interviews.
Participants
The sample for this study consisted of 2 participants, one male participant (A), age 7 from a primary
school and one female participant (D), age 12 from another school in the area of Oxford, UK.
Materials
The materials used for the study included objects for the experiments (see Appendix A), voice
recorders, microphone, A4 paper, interview transcript, pens, and consent forms.
Procedure
This study involved interviewing two child participants. The children agreed to take part in a practical
investigation and share their thoughts about it in the interviews. The parents signed a consent form to
give their permission for the interviews using video recording. The consent was in line with the ethical
guidelines for conducting research with human participants as outlined by the British Psychological
Society (BPS). Moreover, surnames of the participants were not disclosed for confidentiality purposes,
in accordance with the BPS ethics. The interviews were conducted in the school library by a
researcher. During the interview the two cameramen, a sound recordist, the producer, university
member and a classroom assistant were also present in the room. The children were interviewed
separately and were put at ease before starting the investigation

Freud Vs Frankl And Freud
Running Head: COMPARITIVE PERSONALITY THEORIES OF SIGMUND FREUD AND
VIKTOR FRANKL
Comparative Personality Theories of Sigmund Freud and Viktor Frankl
Luke McGeeney
William James College
For my comparison, I ll be looking at the theories of Sigmund Freud and Viktor Frankl, the creators of
both the first and third Viennese Schools of Psychotherapy, respectively. To begin with, I ll examine
Frankl s theory of existential analysis known as logotherapy. Logotherapy states that we as human
beings are conscious creatures, responsible for our choices and decisions in life. Frankl proposed a
dualistic view of human nature, which claimed that the unconscious is home to both sides of
humanity, with instinctual, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We are meant to become our truest selves by finding meaning in our lives, which, according to Frankl,
can come from three places: work, love, and our attitude in the face of horrific suffering or difficulty.
And at the center of this meaning is our responsibility and human right to choose. In Frankl s theory,
we all strive to fulfill a self chosen goal, from which meaning has the potential to be found. And if no
meaning is found, there is meaning yet to be found, or meaning to be drawn from the apparent lack of
meaning. Whatever the case, Frankl viewed man s lack of meaning as the greatest existential crisis,
the stress of this meaninglessness giving life and shape to all of our neuroses.
This will to meaning is the culmination of our developmental process. To cultivate an individual s
capacity to find meaning in their life is the greatest goal, and the source of mankind s anxiety and
neuroses. We all wish to find the meaning within our life, and are unfulfilled when we miss the mark.
But according to Frankl, there is always meaning in life, in every single moment, from one to the next
we all are capable of making a choice about ourselves, and beyond that, have a responsibility to do so.
Even with the transitory nature of our existence and hopelessness in the face of certain death, there is
still meaning to be found, there is still freedom to be earned.
Unlike Freud s theory that mankind s

Driverless Vehicles
An addition to the world of technology is the introduction of driverless vehicles. Many companies
including Google, Audi, BMW and Mercedes are investing in this project. The idea of a vehicle
driving itself has been of great interest to companies and manufacturers all over the world are using
technology to build and test such vehicles. Governments around the world are on board with this
venture and they are reviewing the Highway Code, legal frameworks and legislative changes to
accommodate the development of driverless vehicles (Department of transport, 2015). However, it
may seem that not everyone is comfortable with the idea of autonomous vehicles. The moral
ramifications associated with driverless cars seem to be one reason why people are ... Show more

That it is the responsibility of humans, just as it is with manual vehicles to maintain a good level of
concentration at times of driving the vehicle. This may be true but it could be argued that it is easier to
concentrate when a human is actually driving. That a passenger may not be as attentive to the road and
its surroundings as much as a driver is. If the driver is going to act like the passenger in a driverless
vehicle then the concern would be that is it possible to be that attentive when not actually driving? It is
suggested that manufactures of driverless vehicles monitor the performance of test drivers and see if
their levels of concentration are good and if they represent any risks (Department for transport, 2015).
However, many questions arise about how these tests will take place, how will humans be monitored
on their concentration abilities. What will happen in the case of failing such tests? How will the roads
look with humans and robots driving alongside each

High Chektogenic Diets
There are several diets which are designed to help obese individuals to reduce weight. Due to the fact
that so many illnesses (e.g. diabetes, high cholesterol) are related to the effects of obesity,
understanding the physiology of weight loss has become ever so important. One of the most popular
and widely researched diets, which are used for the treatment of obesity, is the ketogenic diet. This
diet is not only known for its use in the treatment of obesity, but is also known to play a positive role
in the treatment of several illnesses. Initially, this diet was solely used for treating people with
epilepsy. However, starting from the 1970s, the diet became known for its role in promoting weight
loss and also in the treatment of other illnesses (e.g. cardiovascular disease). In addition, the diet is
also known to help people reduce their dependence on medications for ... Show more content on

Gout Disease Research Paper
Gout disease was known over 4000 year by the Egyptians, Romans and the Greeks. It was named the
rich man disease or disease of kings for it was related to the standard of living that only wealthy
people can afford in that time. The first time the Egyptians documented the gout disease was in 2600
BC as arthritis of the big toe. Originally, the name Gout is from Latin Gutta which means drop
(Copeman WSC, 1964). Gout disease, also called gouty arthritis, is an inflammatory arthritis that is
very painful. It occurs when there is an excess of uric acid in the bloodstream. The acid forms crystals
in joints, causing sudden and severe pain, swelling, redness and tenderness. Most people at first
experience gout at the base of the big toe. Gout can also affect others movable joints like your ankles,
knees, wrists, fingers and elbows or others. According to the Arthritis National Research Foundation,
gout affects in 8.3 million Americans. The same research institute states that it is rare in children or
young people but men are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most current treatments of gout are Oral corticosteroids, intravenous corticosteroids, NSAIDs (non
steroid anti inflammatory drugs), and colchicine. Indomethacin (Indocin) has also been the preferred
choice but, there is no evidence that shows that it is more effective than any other medications. Oral
NSAID can be prescribed to the patient for one to two days after the symptoms disappear. Treatment
can also be done through diet with a strict control of the patient food with only free uric acid.
Therefore, patient must stop eating a high purine diet ( like Frequent consumption of red meat and
shellfish), and high fructose foods and beverages, This was confirmed by Haig in a series of clinical
experiments he conducted on himself from 1894 to 1897, and more recently in clinical physiological
studies on patients given purine free formula

Verizon Communication Swot Analysis
SWOT ANALYSIS INTRODUCTION.
A business must analyze their general environment and their industries competitive environment in
order for the business to understand their environment. (Dess, Lumpkin, Eisner, McNamara 2014.)
This comes by doing a SWOT Analysis which is a basic technique. By doing a SWOT Analysis, the
company can identify its strengths and weaknesses which are the internal forces. The analysis also
identifies the external forces which are the opportunities and threats in the industry. Verizon
Communications is the company that will be reviewed.

Threats
Some of the biggest threats for Verizon is their competition. In the telecom industry there are some
new growing competitors. (Olsen,2015) Sprint and T Mobile seems to the fastest growing ones,
neither of them have as many locations as Verizon although they are still a threat because they are
expanding. Sprint and T Mobile are both working to provide service at a lesser price and they are
probably one of the biggest threats with their major presence across the globe and multiple locations.
(Olsen,2015) This means that Verizon must adapt to any new technologies by offering ease of access
for our customers. They must also keep up on competitive advantage to remain a leading company in
the Telecom industry.
Conclusion It is important for companies to perform such things as a SWOT analysis to evaluate their
positions with internal and external factors. They help managers to see how they are performing and
where they should focus their efforts to stay in competitive advantage with their

Persecution Of The Puritans
During the late 16th and 17th centuries, the Puritans, or sometimes referred to as precisionists , were
members of a religious reform who cast away the religious ideals of the Church of England under
Queen Elizabeth s rule. The Puritans planned to regulate a different way to worship, along with
censorious moral beliefs, often disregarding the beliefs of the entire English nation in order to instill
their own, leading to their persecution. A blog dated 2008 on the topic of the Puritan persecution
states: They were forced out because they wanted to reform human civilization through religion, to
wipe out poverty, and to make a heaven on Earth in which everyone was free to discover God s will
for themselves . It is evident that the Puritans, who believed in a more Protestant variation of the
Anglican Church, were persecuted and fled, but the exact reasons for this are often disputed. The most
popular trail of thought is that due to the backlash they received, the Puritans could not be maintained
and thus escaped. Other people are entertained by the thought that the Puritans had been banished but
in result, had only a sole thought in mind to reform human civilization through religion somewhere
else, as stated in the blog above. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Church Of Christ Since I
I have always gone to Madison Church of Christ since I was born; it is a small town country church
with about 125 people who attend. I ve gone to different churches through a high school singing
group, New Way Singers, and I have certain aspects that I do look for in a church. I m not completely
opposed to trying other services, but I have never been to a Catholic service. When speaking to friends
about beliefs, all of us understood that there are a lot of differences between Protestant and Catholic
beliefs. There have also been a lot of debates in lunch conversations about this. So when I heard about
this paper, it was a sort of obvious choice that I attend the St. Patrick s Catholic Church in Brooklyn

My pastor had funny skits, wrote songs, played old rock and roll music, and other random openers that
he would use to relate the sermon. It s just different ways of how our church works. For communion at
my church, we use grape juice and small rectangular communal bread in place of the wine and wafers
that St. Patrick s Catholic Church uses. This isn t a big problem for me though; to me, this is just a
symbol and helps remind you what Jesus did to save us. I don t know that the items used are of so
much importance if God is still respected and put at the forefront of the mind. I ve even used apple
juice and cereal when I had a youth gathering one time. Even if I did have an opinion on what was
used, it wouldn t have mattered. I learned that since I am not Catholic, I can t take in the Catholic
communion, which is also called the Eucharist. At first, I felt a little weird about that since my church
allows anyone that is baptized to take in communion whether they are of our denomination or not, but
that difference between our churches isn t of much significance to me. I realized that ours isn t too
much different since we want people to be baptized before they take communion. The general mood
of the service made me think of the word reverence . They make it seem very formal and

certain reasons.

they might not have to pay for college and summer school. Kids could work better in groups because

Spouses for Humanity Humanity s potential to develop interpersonal relationships is fundamental to
their growth and can be detrimental to society if not maintained. Focusing on a relationship between

healthy relationship can contribute to an individual s attainment of goals, moral construction, and
perception of society. Interpersonal relationships have traditionally been regarded as one of the major
determinants of health and well being (Paat). But what constitutes a healthy relationship? In Raymond
Carver s Cathedral a man and his wife on the surface have a rocky relationship that seems to be
teetering on the husband s impartiality to his wife and the wife s resentment towards her husband s
impartiality. However, Brewer Davis states that, loving someone sometimes seems to appropriately

their moral standing is the key to their growth. Although the husband is considered sort of a bad boy

The use of the Internet has become increasingly popular in everyday activities of many Americans.
The convenience and wealth of information at hand makes it a practical tool for managing day to day
activities, communicating and staying in touch with friends, shopping, and many other activities.
Deborah Fallows wrote an article, The Internet and Daily Life, based on a survey and research
conducted through the Pew Research Center. Fallows indicated in the article that 88% of online
Americans say the Internet plays a role in their daily routines. The activities they identified as most
significant are communicating with family and friends and finding a wealth of information at their

Russell felt that Shirky s statement was more indicative of himself rather than the general public.
What evidence did he have to support the claim? Additionally, Russell did not feel that collaboration

Roman Catholic Church Part 2 Summary
Part 2:
The two big splits in 1054, resulted in the Roman catholic church breaking into separate branches.
One being the Eastern Orthodox Catholics, and the other being the Roman Catholics who belong in
the West. The separation had been influenced by Germanic tribes invading across Europe and the
effect plunged the whole of Europe in the Dark Ages . A mixture of many political, social, cultural,
economic, theological, linguistic differences caused a split in the Roman church.
Within the whole church, there were only five patriarchs. They were spread out mainly in the east
(Antioch, Alexandria, Jerusalem and Byzantium) which all spoke Greek and were also located in the
west of Rome, with their principal language Latin. Both of these two sides could not read nor have
any access to the writings of the theologians on the opposite side as the western theology was
supported by a small number of Latin theologians, whereas the east focused on Greek theology.
With all the lack of agreement and contrast, it had been the substructure for the Great Schism.

Education Trends Paper
Education Practices
Educational practices are developed through the results of research and studies showing how theory,
research, and practice work together to achieve positive outcomes (Dignam, Duffield, Stasa, Gray,
Jackson, Daly. 2012. p. 69). A nurse administrator must set a model of excellence to provide the
learner opportunities that encourage current trends in the healthcare setting to ensure quality patient
care. The purpose of this paper is to look at trends in education and how these educational practices
will influence my role as a nurse administrator.
Leadership and Education Trends
In reviewing current trends, educators must take into account adult learning principles that include
three different styles. These styles consist of the auditory, visual and kinesthetic learners. Programs
must be developed to include or to allow the adult learner to choose their preferred learning style. For
example, Donna Wright provides a competency program that is designed around eleven different
elements of competencies.
The evolution of multimedia as an educational medium allows nurse educators additional tools to
promote several learning styles to meet the needs of the adult learner (Lua Pei, Nor Khaira Wahida,
2014. p. 3 ). The development of programs and educational opportunities utilizing evidenced based
practice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

evidence based. The success of teaching and learning in nursing programs is contingent upon strong
leadership within schools of

The Causes Of The Dust Bowl
The Dust Bowl
It started off as a normal day for the Johnson boys, They woke up, ate breakfast and headed off to the
fields to start their chores. Their chores included feeding and tending the livestock and taking care of
the crops. There were two boys, Rick and Morty the youngest son, Morty loved feeding the cows and
sheep his favorite was a calf named Chad. Chad and Morty have been best friends ever since Chad
was born. When Morty was feeding Chad he looked over and saw a cloud of dust that ranged for
miles. He yelled at his brother to look and together they put away all the livestock and went inside for
shelter. Four hours goes by and the storm finally passes. The two boys go outside to see that
everything has been covered in dust. They run to the barn and see that all their livestock had died from
dust suffocation. Rick and Morty go in a panic everything they worked hard for was gone. They had
no other choice but to migrate to try and find a job so they can survive. So the next day they packed
everything they could carry and got the next ticket to California. This was very usual for the farmers
in the midwest to do this. The Dust Bowl affected people s way of life in the Midwest forcing them to
migrate to California in search of a job and food.
For years the Dust Bowl traveled the southern plains making the everyday activities not so simple.

Comparing and Contrasting God and Worship Rites
Comparing and Contrasting God, gods, and worship rites.
In Both Islam and Zoroaster the belief of one true God is highly favored amongst the two and both
acknowledge God as transparent, but they differ in their reference to God. The Zoroaster religion
refers to God as Ahura Mazda (The wise Lord) along with twenty other names. It is understood that
Ahura Mazda is an invisible and intangible creator. However, the Islam religion recognizes the
supreme High God as Allah, who is separated and unapproachable by human beings. In contrast to
Islam and Zoroaster, the Hinduism religion contradicts this belief and practice devotion to three major
Indian gods. All three faiths worship their God or gods in different forms, yet all three are share
similarities regarding worship and sacrifices.
Hinduism was established sometime around the sixth century, but was originated by the Aryan people
during the second millennium B.C.E during the voyage to Indian. Hinduism is recognized as the

Throughout this essay I am going to briefly discuss a multitude of controversial topics, and give
different perspectives of Conservatives, Liberals, and Libertarians. While discussing the different
viewpoints, I will maintain objectivity, and fairly discuss all party s opinions. It is important to remain

that if a woman experiences incest, rape, etc. they should be allowed to have an abortion, however, at

Persuasive Essay On Off Campus Lunch
Senior High school students should be allowed to leave campus for lunch on the days they choose
only if they have the majority of their high school credits and maintain a GPA higher than 3.5. If a
high school student, that is a senior, maintains a GPA of 3.5 wants the leave campus for lunch they
should be allowed to exit the campus at least 3 days of the week. In order for the senior to leave
campus, he or she must first sign out from the office when they leave and sign again when they return
back to campus. The GPA rule will be very affective as it will eliminate any bad or problem causing
kids which do not take school serious, from leaving the campus. There are always some kids who will
try and take advantage of the system and see how much they can get away with and this system will
hopefully keep those kids in school remaining on campus. Even with this system, there may be some
seniors who take advantage of this privilege and abuse it to where it will be taken away from the other
seniors. Again this will hopefully be avoided as the kids should realize they re seniors, not freshmen
and should act accordingly. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Difference Between NRF And NIMS
The various local, state, and federal emergency management systems of the United States suffered a
crude awakening in the decade of the 2000s. Systems expected to hold up were put to the test and
failed to prepare for disaster, mitigate the damage, and, in some instances, actually hampered
responses in life or death situations. Worse, all failings were highlighted in an age of global
communication and mass media, on display first whether a man made incident like September 11th
attacks or natural disaster like Hurricane Katrina. The decade found the complacent government
failing to maintain modern emergency management practices, stimulating began a series of doctrinal
upgrades and training improvements. Yet, no matter the bureaucracy, writings, or money thrown at a

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) would become the central point of contact
within the national government in responding to incidents. Since formation in 1979, FEMA s core
missions were to enhance the government s ability to survive a foreign attack, and to assist state and
local authorities in disaster response (Carafano, 2005). And while the two core missions seem
heterogenous in scope at times from an outside perspective, the biggest difference between the two
tasks is duration. A man made disaster may be over in a matter of minutes as compared to a hurricane
lasting several days, but in both instances the road to recovery is long. In order to streamline response
and recovery in either scenario, FEMA was reorganized with new directives to support comprehensive
emergency management practices (CRS, 2006). Today, FEMA provides the standard approach and

Greek Beliefs In Ancient Greek Mythology
Greek mythology is one of the most interesting topics to come out of ancient Greek culture. The idea
of sincerely believing that every move or choice that is made all goes back to the gods and goddesses
fascinates me. In ancient Greece, the normal thing was to believe in multiple higher powers instead of
today were majority dictates that there is only one higher power. I was aware of some facts about the
Greek s belief in the god and goddesses from previous history classes but I have never at the freedom
to choose to write a paper solely on them. The goal of my research was to find out what made the gods
and goddesses so special to the Greeks and why a civilization would worship them for centuries.
The start of believing in the gods and goddesses started as a way to explain daily life and to give life a
purpose . Without a reason for living majority of people would descend into madness with no morals.
Unlike other religions that had a holy text, mythology was based primarily on word of mouth. The
stories were passed down from generation to generation to create the outlandish but captivating
mythology that we have in modern society. While there were countless gods and goddesses, students
do typically learn the 12 that are called the Olympian Gods . This group was led by Zeus, who is
perhaps is the most well known Greek god. The next 11 were named as followed, Athena, Apollo,
Poseidon, Hermes, Hera, Aphrodite, Demeter, Ares, Artemis, Hades, Hephaistos, and Dionysus. I have
attached a family tree to help showcases how majority of the gods and goddesses were related . Each
god had their own followers and were all considered the god of something. For example, Athena is
known as the Goddess of Wisdom and Hades is the God of the Dead or God of the Underworld. Greek
citizens built large temples to honor a particular god where the god was thought to live.
Within these temples, religious ceremonies were not held as we hold mass in a church. Instead, the
temple for each god and goddess were considered the living place of whoever it was built in honor to.
The most notable would the be the temple to Athena which is showcased in the photo to the left . In
each temple, a statue of the god was placed for worshipers to live

The Importance Of Technology And Social Media
Moreover, social media also works as a forum provided by governments to build a healthy relationship
with its citizens while also allowing the government to maintain control. Before technology and social
media become prominent in the mid 2000s, governments and other state actors did not believe in the
benefits it would provide in terms of development. This changed when the media market became more
liberalized providing more opportunities for countries to gain economic development. Kazakhstan is
an example of a country s government using social media to defy rebellions. Until the mid 2000 s,
only 3% of people in Kazakhstan used the internet. This number had increased to 54% in 2013
(Niyazbekov, 2017). Kazakhstan s government went online during the same time and ministers
followed Prime Minister Karim Massimov and started blogging. The aim was to change the public s
perceptive of the government being too bureaucratic and ineffective. After president Nursultan

Kazakhstan came in 2nd place in a global rating of citizens e participation denoting ease of access to

Beethoven Was A German Composer ( 1770-1827 )
Introduction Beethoven was a German composer (1770 1827). His early achievements, as composer
and performer, show him to be extending the Viennese Classical tradition that he had inherited from
Mozart and Haydn (Kerman). The time period between 1801 to 1802, Beethoven had begun to realize
that he was gradually becoming deaf. The immediate results of this devastating discover was
withdrawal from his glittering social life: I find it impossible to say to people, I am deaf, he wrote
(Taruskin). As a result, he began to compose in an increasingly individual style, and at the end of his
life he wrote his most sublime and profound works (Kerman). His major works include 9 symphonies,

By the age of twelve, after establishing a local reputation as a piano prodigy, he was appointed

father s duties as singer and instrumentalist (Taruskin). When he was nineteen, Beethoven wrote two
cantatas the first cantata on the death of the emperor Joseph II and the coronation of Leopold II,
Joseph s successor (Taruskin). These cantatas were shown to Joseph Haydn (1732 1809), who was
passing from Bonn en route to England in 1790, and received his approval.
As a result, in 1792, the Elector arranged for Beethoven to study with Haydn in Vienna, which marked
his decade in Vienna (Taruskin). His training with Haydn was short lived, as Haydn was summoned
back to England in 1794. Beethoven then studied counterpoint with Johann Georg Albrechtsberger for

began to make a name for himself as a virtuoso piano performer and improviser at the piano. He
performed in public concerts and gave piano lessons to well to do students. He also became the

name of my forefathers was taken from them when they were brought to America and made slaves,
and then the name of the slave master was given, which we refuse; we reject that name today and

over the Belgium Congo territory. He forced the enslaved individuals to do horrific and exhausting
tasks, and people who disagreed with him made it known of his horrible acts. Several countries began
to disagree with Leopold s dictatorship. He was a tyrant. King Leopold s Ghost is a phenomenal book
because of the way individuals can make a difference in others lives. The theme of this book is
something that relates to our lives everyday. Our actions can impacts individuals tremendously. There
were several people that spoke out throughout this book, but the most important one is George
Washington Williams. He was a minister, historian, and was in the Civil War. Williams was a very
strong headed individual, and when Leopold tried to persuade him not to visit the Congo he did not

The defiant Japanese commoners covered themselves lavishly from their necks to their elbows, and

had gone from a representation of splendor, to one associated with Japanese crime. As a result,
tattooists were forced to retreat into the background of Japanese society. Luckily for them, the
Japanese gangster class in Japan known as the Ikuza, embraced this subculture with open arms. The

Symbolism In A Noiseless Patient Spider By Robert Frost
According to an Online Etymology Dictionary, symbolism is a practice of representing things with
symbols, from symbol and ism. Symbols are one of the most important elements that create a
whimsical perception to the greater understanding of the literature. Spiders have symbolized as being
cruel, tormenting, and fearful throughout the stories of various cultures for centuries. However, they
are also known as mystical creatures that are patience and persistence in designing intricate webs out
of their bodies to create their own journey. In the poems, A Noiseless Patient Spider by Walt Whitman,
and Design by Robert Frost, the readers are introduced to the characteristics of the spider in
comparison to the mortal s existence, morals, and values, to question, Is the Spider like my Soul? The
poet, Walt Whitman loved nature and he believed that humans are part of nature, in which he
identified humans with nature. From the beginning of the poem, the poet starts the first stanza with the
title of the poem, A Noiseless Patient Spider (1). This is to emphasize the idea of the spider being a
patient and persistent, in contrast to the usual perception of the spiders being cruel, tormenting, and
fearful spider. The spider in the poem symbolizes the patience, persistence, and loneliness in
comparison to the poet s own. As the poem continues, the symbolism of the noiseless patient spider
becomes clear that the spider is the poet himself, his noiseless patient soul. The reader can imagine a
lonely noiseless spider on a cliff, as he builds his web patiently, one string after another, to an empty
space, constantly unraveling the web, and shooting the web endlessly. The symbol of spider s patience
is personified to the poet s own emotions as he watches the spider noiselessly, I mark d where on a
little promontory it stood isolated (2). The poet continues to write how lonely and isolated the spider
must be as it shoots strings out of its own body, Mark d how to explore the vacant vast surrounding
(3); and compares to O my soul where you stand, surrounded, detached, in measureless oceans of
space (6 7), to symbolize his own loneliness and isolation in the world. The poet describes how a

Oxymorons In Romeo And Juliet
Throughout Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet and the other poems I have studied, it is evident that
being in love can incite a diverse range of emotions, and the complications and concern it can spark in
those around them. In Shakespeare s prologue to the epic tragedy, it becomes apparent that both
Romeo and his love, Juliet, are in for an immense battle with their emotions when he refers to them as
a pair of star crossed lovers, implying that they re tragically destined to fall apart.
We see at the beginning of the play how naïve and immature young Romeo is from how purely
infatuated he appears to be with Rosaline. This can be seen through a variety of language techines and

Within Romeo s speech about Juliet in Act 1, Scene 5, Shakespeare uses a lot of religious imagery to
convey Romeo s intense, passionate feelings towards Juliet. For example, during one of the couple s
first exchanges Romeo refers to his lips as, two blushing pilgrims. His lips are the pilgrims that are
seeking the holy place, which, in this particular case, is Juliet s lips. In saying this, Romeo is almost
placing Juliet on some sort of religious pedestal, implying that she has a God like power and control
over him, much like God would to a pilgrim. His religious references show the severity of their love
and Shakespeare may have done it as it helps create an escape from their damnation according to
Christian values by creating the religion of love. Even though some Elizabethan audience members
may find it difficult to relate to the character of Romeo due to his fickle nature towards love, they
would understand his feelings through religion. This is because during Shakespeare s time relgion was
thriving so the audience may possibly understand how important Juliet is to Romeo by how important
religion is to them. However, others may have been deeply offended by this use of religion for a girl

Meat Loaf s Album Bat Out Of Hell
Meat Loaf s album Bat Out Of Hell was released in 1977, and is considered by many as an iconic
album cover. In 2001, it was rated 71st in Q Magazine s listing of The 100 Best Album Covers of All
Time . Singer Meat Loaf and composer Jim Steinman commissioned the cover artwork from the
renowned comic artist Richard Corben, best known for his sci fi and fantasy work. Corben s
illustration effectively advertises the album s contents to the target audience as well as creating the
beginnings of a visual identity for Meat Loaf .
The illustration was designed to fit the size and shape of an album cover measuring 12.375 inches
square. The original artwork was painted on a 24 inch square canvas board using oil and acrylic paint.
Designing an illustration to fit these precise dimensions can be challenging as you are limited by both
size and shape, which restricts the composition.
It is difficult to illustrate the shifting moods, and the emotional range (THORGERSON, Storm,
Aubrey POWELL and Design Richard EVANS. 1999. 100 best album covers: [ the stories behind the
sleeves]. London: Dorling Kindersley Publishers) of the entire album in one twelve inch square piece
of artwork.
Coben worked around this problem by focusing on the album s title track and main hit single Bat Out
Of Hell . Despite Corben focusing on one song, the artwork reflects the Gothic heavy metal tone of
the entire album. By concentrating on the one song Coben has created a very powerful, eye catching

Essay about Management Information Systems
MGMT305 Unit 5 Individual Project Week 5 Case Studies Chasity Fenn American Intercontinental
University
October , 2011
ABSTRACT This paper will discuss the questions asked about the four different case studies we are to
read this week. The case studies are When antivirus software cripples your computers, How secure is
the cloud, Are electronic medical records a cure for heath care, and JetBlue and WestJet: A tale of two
IS projects (Laudon amp; Laudon, 2012, pgs 304, 321, 522 amp; 556).
WEEK 5 CASE STUDIES
WHEN ANTIVIRUS SOFTWARE CRIPPLES YOUR COMPUTERS There are a few reasons why

321). Lastly, cloud system users also have to deal with the fact there could be an interruption of the
systems they use. It is expected by businesses and users for the systems to be available all the time,
but in reality power outages and server problems could make data retrieval and usage of the system
not possible (Laudon amp; Laudon, 2012, p. 321). The factors that contribute to the problem of the
distribution of data are the number of users of the programs. Having multiple distribution centers is
the way that cloud is able to have so many users and to store mass amounts of data. This also
contributes to the problem of tracking activities. The reason why some cloud providers do not (and do
not intend to) meet security requirements is the cost of audits. If a cloud provider does not have proof
of security requirements, they often have to have outside companies audit their data. Many providers
do not want outside companies viewing their data and it can be costly to hire someone to do this
(Laudon amp; Laudon, 2012, p. 321). Cloud computing is only as secure as the company using it is.
Even though cloud applications are secure and encrypted, it is the responsibility of the business using
the cloud systems to use encryption and other security measures. It is important that security measures
be used on the company s side, not just the provider s side (Laudon amp; Laudon, 2012, p. 321). If

Media Violence And Stereotypes
Children who are exposed to various types of violence from a young age are more likely to initiate and
behave aggressively towards others. Kids may also take part in aggressive behavior if they feel they
identify themselves with hostile characters in the media. A study conducted on youth investigated the
relationship between prolonged displays towards media violence and identification with fictional
characters (Mrug, Madan, Cook, Wright, 2015). The results concluded that with increased exposure to
high action movie scenes, there was a greater identification with the fictional characters presented. A
1999 school shooting, at Columbine High School in Colorado, involved two teenage boys whose lives
revolved around the obsession of violent imagery

Sex Harassment And Sexual Harassment
Introduction
Within this piece of work I will explain the following document about sexual harassment and describe
the differences between the comparisons of how it effect s the life s of them who have experienced the
horrors of sexual harassment.
Sexual harassment is a type of bullying, stereo typically towards a woman requesting for sexual
favours and acts in a verbal way it is stated by rape crisis London that within their research they found
that it is Estimates suggest that half of women in employment have been subjected to sexual
harassment (Rape Crisis London).
This can often be found in a workplace whereas for example, a person of a higher role such as a
manager could offer one of his female employees a promotion if she is willing to engage in his
sexually unwelcome behaviour or making comments about her sex life which can cause a hostile
workplace environment. Sexual harassment is defined as an unwelcome behaviour of a sexual nature
and when in a workplace can be referred to as quid pro quo, which basically means you give me what
I want, I ll give you what you want . It is believed that Sexual misconduct has emerged as a
widespread problem throughout the criminal justice system as indicated by law enforcement officer
sexual assault incidents in various cities and the findings of the recent National Prison Rape
Elimination Act Research Commission (Implications for Criminal Justice from the 2002 and 2006

The Cycle From Nomadic To Sedentary And Then Conquered
The cycle from Nomadic to sedentary and then conquered by nomads would spin its wheel right into
the mighty Empire of Europe, as Roman expansion in Europe spreading its resources thin and the
migratory period of nomadic tribes, like the Germanic Goths, to expand south near the black sea, from
Scandinavia in the late first century AD. The Roman empire had always been on the offense for
centuries, conquering territory after territory, but with every large empire, military units needed to
increase to keep its boarders safe from invaders. Rome would rely on hiring foreign tribes as
mercenaries in the north for protection, but even with this, the Emperor Diocletian would split the
empire into four sections for better management. The Goths had ... Show more content on

The welcoming party was short lived, as the Visigoths were treated inhumanly by the Romans,
allowing many to starve to death, and exploiting the children of Goths in exchange for dog meat.
Feeling betrayed, in 376 AD, the Goths rebelled against Rome by plundering the nearby towns with
whatever they can take. The Goths would continue pillaging the countryside of Rome, gathering
resources and soldiers made up of prisoners of Rome and former slaves, and in 378 AD they went up
against the emperor Valens himself at the battle of Adrianople. Consequently, Emperor Valens, along
with two thirds of his armies, perished under the brute force of Fritigern armies. This was one of the
most devastating defeat to the Romans in centuries. The Visigoths armies would split in 380 AD with
the Greuthungi going north to invade, and the Therving going south. The new Eastern Roman
Emperor, Theodosius I, would campaign against the Goths and either defeated or signed a peace treaty
with the Greuthungi Goths. Western Rome would send two generals to help its eastern counterpart
against the remaining Goths producing no results, and in 382 AD, Rome would end the war with a
treaty, allowing land distribution to the visigoths, while they agreed to produce men for Rome s ever
diminishing military. Rome would break the treaty with the foreigners after the death of Theodosius I
a few years later, creating a series of catastrophic events for the western division of the empire. In 397
AD,

Escapism In The Song Imagine It By MKTO
The world flight world view is about escapism. It s about how we need to leave this world behind to
get to our ultimate form. Nowadays we see more and more people discussing how much better life
here would be if we could change this or that they believe they can fix what is here on earth. The
world flight world view believes that to reach what we are really meant for we have to leave this
world behind and that the closes we can get to that perfection would be through a daydream. So in the
song Imagine It by MKTO. We hear about this amazing place but it all comes back to the title that we
can only imagine it. One of my favorite lines is Somewhere off in outer space There s a world, no
wars, no hate Where all the broken hearts are safe I don t know where it is I just imagine it . I love this
line because I think it is very representative of the culture we have nowadays where we ... Show more

In the song we also hear this part that talks about how I live in a world that s in pain You too where the
streets have no name Cause a untreated vet with a mental defect Is about to get a Glock, that s insane
Man, we sit the brink with a drink in a hand And the other with a grip on an iPhone Never looking in
each other s eyes Let alone at the stars One day, wonder where the time goes Zombies waking up
when the bomb drops Too many hearts stop beating when no heart stops Can t wait for the world to
change That s like waiting for the end of days. I really believe that the part that says a grip on an
iPhone never looking into each other s eyes let alone at the stars wondering where the time goes
because it is a very true statement of how being here with these worldly objects such as I phones takes
away from all the beautiful things in the world like the stars and the love in another person s eyes. It
says that even if we wanted to we can only imagine how it would feel to have that kind of a
connection with someone

Julius Caesar Evil
Shakespeare s tragedy Julius Caesar takes place in Rome at the time of Caesar s assassination. After
Caesar returns home, he is hailed as a war hero, and the citizens of Rome plan to crown him as their
ruler. Cassius, knowing Caesar will soon become a tyrant, convinces the honorable and well respected
Brutus, a good friend of Caesar, to murder him for the good of the city. Although many consider Julius
Caesar the hero of the play, Brutus is the true Shakespearean tragic hero. This is proven first by his
inherently honorable character. Furthermore, Brutus s loyalty, which in most cases is considered a
virtue, becomes a sin within the context of the story. Lastly, Brutus becomes blind to reality, believing
the murder of Caesar is a good and necessary act.
First and foremost, Brutus is proven to be a tragic hero by his good character. Brutus, unlike Caesar, is
a humble man, known in the town to be loyal and put others before himself. For example, while
Cassius attempts to rile Brutus up over Caesar s newfound fame, he argues the point that Brutus has an
inherent right to the throne. Brutus responds to this by saying that [he] had rather be a villager / Than
to repute himself a son of Rome (Shakespeare 1.2.180 181). While Caesar is so intoxicated by the
attention and fame he receives that he agrees to rule without any critical thinking, Brutus, not blinded
by greed or pride, is able to clearly see that taking on this power would not be wise. Very few would
be able to resist this opportunity to be at the center of all this praise, but Brutus is both humble and
wise enough to turn down what should be his role because he realizes the ability to be worshipped is
not enough to make a leader. Although literary critic Harold Bloom argues that Brutus is ... morally
rather vain ... [and] powerfully self centered (1 2), it is proven throughout the novel that Brutus has
practically no ego and puts the needs of the Romans before his own. Brutus is modest, intelligent, and
at his center, a good person.
Another characteristic of Brutus that defines him as a tragic hero is his virtue of loyalty to Rome used
as a sin. The night before Caesar s downfall, Brutus receives an abundance of letters, declaring Caesar
unfit to be

The Health Benefits of Exercise Essay
Exercise is one of the most important factors in a persons life. Physical activity, or the lack of it, can
result in a person having a healthy life or cause them to have diabetes. The benefits of exercise are
countless. The positive health results, the improvement in attitude, even better academic performance
are all factors which make not exercising inexcusable. Merely not using a person s body is harmful.
Not being active results in a person s muscles becoming weak and out of condition. The effectiveness
of a person s heart and lungs will decrease. A person s joints will become stiff and can be injured
easily. Inactivity can be as much of a health risk as smoking. In addition children have become
extremely lazy with all the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Adults should have around thirty to sixty minutes of physical activity four to six times a week. Two
hours and thirty minutes is the minimum a fully developed person needs to lessen the risk of having
some type of chronic disease later in life ( Information ). Physical fitness has two main classifications
performance related and health related. People have different performance related requirements in
accordance with their occupation but all people have the same health related requirements (The
World). Then there are two types of exercise that helps tone a person s body while increasing its
endurance. These are aerobic and anaerobic. Aerobic exercise is exercise that uses the muscles and
bones. Cardio activities are a good example of this, such as running or biking. This type of exercise
increases the strength of a person s heart and boosts their lung capacity. Anaerobic exercise is an
intense but short amount of exercise (Payment). Since it is only for a brief amount of time, it does not
require the amount of oxygen aerobic exercise does. Instead it uses glycogen which comes from the
sugar in a person s blood. An example of this exercise is weight lifting or sprinting. A person s
requires both anaerobic and aerobic exercise for good health. Simply doing a cardio work out is not
healthy, and for a person to see real results there must be some activity like weight lifting ( Anaerobic
). By performing some type of physical activity each

The Geriatric Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
Daunting for the psychiatric geriatric Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) are a number of
tasks, not dissimilar to the trials of Hercules. Registered nurses (RNs) transitioning to the APRN role,

develop the prior knowledge and willpower to separate from their RN peers and work collaboratively
with Medical Doctors and system administrators who may be harried, busy, or self absorbed in a

collaborating physician and Medical Director, always has the best interest of all patients at heart, she
adds in support of her medical co worker. With discussion centered around every patient on the unit at
the daily treatment team meeting, Dr. Betz is aware of Kimberly s patients and his ideas such as what
medications might work, potential side effects of medications, and the behaviors the patients are
experiencing are all conferred upon.

Reiss Pluralism
Throughout the chapters of this book Reiss has done an exceptional job of depicting the nature of
pluralism and expressing how the acceptance of this sex positive perspective can alleviate our current
sexual crisis. The pluralistic model is rooted in the idea of personal choice and teaching individuals to
not impose their views of sexuality onto others, but to accept difference even when there is
disagreement. As well as this it becomes evident that pluralism offers the notion that there is no single
right way of expressing sexuality, but that there are endless amounts which depend on personal
interests. In discussing the characteristics of pluralism the most important perspective of this concept,
in my opinion, is the acceptance of the value

  • 2. A Study Based on Rosenbergs Research A STUDY BASED ON ROSENBERG S RESEARCH (1979) Abstract The development of children s identity particularly their self perceptions, is of a widespread interest. This small scale study was based on previous research by Rosenberg (1979). The aim was to determine the differences between self descriptions and the shift of the locus of self knowledge with age. The design involved semi structured interviews of two participants aged 8 and 16 years. The participants wrote some statements about who they were, which were coded according to Rosenberg s (1979) themes of self descriptions. The responses about the locus of self knowledge were also analysed to assess the shift with age and other themes were also analysed. The results showed that ... The parents signed a consent form to give their permission for the interviews using video recording. The consent was in line with the ethical guidelines for conducting research with human participants as outlined by the British Psychological Society (BPS). Moreover, surnames of the participants were not disclosed for confidentiality purposes, in accordance with the BPS ethics. The interviews were conducted in the school library by a researcher. During the interview the two cameramen, a sound recordist, the producer, university member and a classroom assistant were also present in the room. • 3. Freud Vs Frankl And Freud Running Head: COMPARITIVE PERSONALITY THEORIES OF SIGMUND FREUD AND VIKTOR FRANKL Comparative Personality Theories of Sigmund Freud and Viktor Frankl Luke McGeeney William James College For my comparison, I ll be looking at the theories of Sigmund Freud and Viktor Frankl, the creators of both the first and third Viennese Schools of Psychotherapy, respectively. To begin with, I ll examine Frankl s theory of existential analysis known as logotherapy. Logotherapy states that we as human beings are conscious creatures, responsible for our choices and decisions in life. Frankl proposed a dualistic view of human nature, which claimed that the unconscious is home to both sides of humanity, with instinctual, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We are meant to become our truest selves by finding meaning in our lives, which, according to Frankl, can come from three places: work, love, and our attitude in the face of horrific suffering or difficulty. And at the center of this meaning is our responsibility and human right to choose. In Frankl s theory, we all strive to fulfill a self chosen goal, from which meaning has the potential to be found. And if no meaning is found, there is meaning yet to be found, or meaning to be drawn from the apparent lack of meaning. Whatever the case, Frankl viewed man s lack of meaning as the greatest existential crisis, the stress of this meaninglessness giving life and shape to all of our neuroses. This will to meaning is the culmination of our developmental process. To cultivate an individual s capacity to find meaning in their life is the greatest goal, and the source of mankind s anxiety and neuroses. We all wish to find the meaning within our life, and are unfulfilled when we miss the mark. But according to Frankl, there is always meaning in life, in every single moment, from one to the next we all are capable of making a choice about ourselves, and beyond that, have a responsibility to do so. Even with the transitory nature of our existence and hopelessness in the face of certain death, there is still meaning to be found, there is still freedom to be earned. Unlike Freud s theory that mankind s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Driverless Vehicles An addition to the world of technology is the introduction of driverless vehicles. Many companies including Google, Audi, BMW and Mercedes are investing in this project. The idea of a vehicle driving itself has been of great interest to companies and manufacturers all over the world are using technology to build and test such vehicles. Governments around the world are on board with this venture and they are reviewing the Highway Code, legal frameworks and legislative changes to accommodate the development of driverless vehicles (Department of transport, 2015). However, it may seem that not everyone is comfortable with the idea of autonomous vehicles. The moral ramifications associated with driverless cars seem to be one reason why people are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That it is the responsibility of humans, just as it is with manual vehicles to maintain a good level of concentration at times of driving the vehicle. This may be true but it could be argued that it is easier to concentrate when a human is actually driving. That a passenger may not be as attentive to the road and its surroundings as much as a driver is. If the driver is going to act like the passenger in a driverless vehicle then the concern would be that is it possible to be that attentive when not actually driving? It is suggested that manufactures of driverless vehicles monitor the performance of test drivers and see if their levels of concentration are good and if they represent any risks (Department for transport, 2015). However, many questions arise about how these tests will take place, how will humans be monitored on their concentration abilities. What will happen in the case of failing such tests? How will the roads look with humans and robots driving alongside each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Due to the fact that so many illnesses (e.g. diabetes, high cholesterol) are related to the effects of obesity, understanding the physiology of weight loss has become ever so important. One of the most popular and widely researched diets, which are used for the treatment of obesity, is the ketogenic diet. This diet is not only known for its use in the treatment of obesity, but is also known to play a positive role in the treatment of several illnesses. Initially, this diet was solely used for treating people with epilepsy. However, starting from the 1970s, the diet became known for its role in promoting weight loss and also in the treatment of other illnesses (e.g. cardiovascular disease). It was named the rich man disease or disease of kings for it was related to the standard of living that only wealthy people can afford in that time. Sprint and T Mobile are both working to provide service at a lesser price and they are probably one of the biggest threats with their major presence across the globe and multiple locations. • 9. Persecution Of The Puritans During the late 16th and 17th centuries, the Puritans, or sometimes referred to as precisionists , were members of a religious reform who cast away the religious ideals of the Church of England under Queen Elizabeth s rule. The Puritans planned to regulate a different way to worship, along with censorious moral beliefs, often disregarding the beliefs of the entire English nation in order to instill their own, leading to their persecution. A blog dated 2008 on the topic of the Puritan persecution states: They were forced out because they wanted to reform human civilization through religion, to wipe out poverty, and to make a heaven on Earth in which everyone was free to discover God s will for themselves . It is evident that the Puritans, who believed in a more Protestant variation of the Anglican Church, were persecuted and fled, but the exact reasons for this are often disputed. The most popular trail of thought is that due to the backlash they received, the Puritans could not be maintained and thus escaped. Other people are entertained by the thought that the Puritans had been banished but in result, had only a sole thought in mind to reform human civilization through religion somewhere else, as stated in the blog above. ... I ve gone to different churches through a high school singing group, New Way Singers, and I have certain aspects that I do look for in a church. I m not completely opposed to trying other services, but I have never been to a Catholic service. When speaking to friends about beliefs, all of us understood that there are a lot of differences between Protestant and Catholic beliefs. There have also been a lot of debates in lunch conversations about this. It s just different ways of how our church works. For communion at my church, we use grape juice and small rectangular communal bread in place of the wine and wafers that St. Patrick s Catholic Church uses. This isn t a big problem for me though; to me, this is just a symbol and helps remind you what Jesus did to save us. I don t know that the items used are of so much importance if God is still respected and put at the forefront of the mind. I ve even used apple juice and cereal when I had a youth gathering one time. Even if I did have an opinion on what was used, it wouldn t have mattered. I learned that since I am not Catholic, I can t take in the Catholic communion, which is also called the Eucharist. At first, I felt a little weird about that since my church allows anyone that is baptized to take in communion whether they are of our denomination or not, but that difference between our churches isn t of much significance to me. I realized that ours isn t too much different since we want people to be baptized before they take communion. The general mood of the service made me think of the word reverence . It could be horrible though, because it would ruin family plans. There have been a ton of arguments about if this should be a thing or not. The whole country would be affected in a terrific way and a horrible way, if the summer was removed, I would be on the pro side for some certain reasons. Kristoffer LaMantain Sandiford ENG 1 B E 6 10 December 2015 Spouses for Humanity Humanity s potential to develop interpersonal relationships is fundamental to their growth and can be detrimental to society if not maintained. Focusing on a relationship between two spouses; it is traditionally presumed to be mutually beneficial. It is this mutual benefit where a healthy relationship can contribute to an individual s attainment of goals, moral construction, and perception of society. Interpersonal relationships have traditionally been regarded as one of the major determinants of health and well being (Paat). But what constitutes a healthy relationship? In Raymond Carver s Cathedral a man and his wife on the surface have a rocky relationship that seems to be teetering on the husband s impartiality to his wife and the wife s resentment towards her husband s impartiality. However, Brewer Davis states that, loving someone sometimes seems to appropriately override impartiality... . The ties that this couple has established and the healthy communication of their moral standing is the key to their growth. Although the husband is considered sort of a bad boy and the wife is characterized as a sweet, caring individual; it is this difference in personalities that brings them together as the husband receives emotional stimulation that he could not otherwise get by himself. • 15. Roman Catholic Church Part 2 Summary Part 2: The two big splits in 1054, resulted in the Roman catholic church breaking into separate branches. One being the Eastern Orthodox Catholics, and the other being the Roman Catholics who belong in the West. The separation had been influenced by Germanic tribes invading across Europe and the effect plunged the whole of Europe in the Dark Ages . A mixture of many political, social, cultural, economic, theological, linguistic differences caused a split in the Roman church. Within the whole church, there were only five patriarchs. They were spread out mainly in the east (Antioch, Alexandria, Jerusalem and Byzantium) which all spoke Greek and were also located in the west of Rome, with their principal language Latin. The purpose of this paper is to look at trends in education and how these educational practices will influence my role as a nurse administrator. Leadership and Education Trends In reviewing current trends, educators must take into account adult learning principles that include three different styles. These styles consist of the auditory, visual and kinesthetic learners. Programs must be developed to include or to allow the adult learner to choose their preferred learning style. For example, Donna Wright provides a competency program that is designed around eleven different elements of competencies. I was aware of some facts about the Greek s belief in the god and goddesses from previous history classes but I have never at the freedom to choose to write a paper solely on them. The goal of my research was to find out what made the gods and goddesses so special to the Greeks and why a civilization would worship them for centuries. The start of believing in the gods and goddesses started as a way to explain daily life and to give life a purpose . Without a reason for living majority of people would descend into madness with no morals. Unlike other religions that had a holy text, mythology was based primarily on word of mouth. The stories were passed down from generation to generation to create the outlandish but captivating mythology that we have in modern society. While there were countless gods and goddesses, students do typically learn the 12 that are called the Olympian Gods . This group was led by Zeus, who is perhaps is the most well known Greek god. The next 11 were named as followed, Athena, Apollo, Poseidon, Hermes, Hera, Aphrodite, Demeter, Ares, Artemis, Hades, Hephaistos, and Dionysus. I have attached a family tree to help showcases how majority of the gods and goddesses were related . Each god had their own followers and were all considered the god of something. For example, Athena is known as the Goddess of Wisdom and Hades is the God of the Dead or God of the Underworld. Greek citizens built large temples to honor a particular god where the god was thought to live. Within these temples, religious ceremonies were not held as we hold mass in a church. Instead, the temple for each god and goddess were considered the living place of whoever it was built in honor to. The defiant Japanese commoners covered themselves lavishly from their necks to their elbows, and above the knees. The Japanese government looked upon this disturbance of the poor as subversive, and outlawed tattoos in 1870. This is when the symbolism of tattoos in Japanese culture shifted. They had gone from a representation of splendor, to one associated with Japanese crime. As a result, tattooists were forced to retreat into the background of Japanese society. Luckily for them, the Japanese gangster class in Japan known as the Ikuza, embraced this subculture with open arms. The elaborately designed tattoos of the Ikuza depicted above, represented character traits the wearer desired to emulate. A lion represented courage, while a carp was worn to emulate strength and perseverance. Because the designs required long periods of pain, the act itself was looked upon as a show of allegiance to the wearer s personal beliefs. Tattooing was also popular amongst Maori men of New Zealand, who covered their buttocks, thighs, and faces. Maori men had their faces tattooed by a moko artist, a technique that is unique to the Maori. The pattern was slowly carved into the skin with a chisel, much in the same way a design might be carved into a plank wood. Ink was then be placed in the fresh wounds to create the tattoo. • 38. Symbolism In A Noiseless Patient Spider By Robert Frost According to an Online Etymology Dictionary, symbolism is a practice of representing things with symbols, from symbol and ism. Symbols are one of the most important elements that create a whimsical perception to the greater understanding of the literature. Spiders have symbolized as being cruel, tormenting, and fearful throughout the stories of various cultures for centuries. However, they are also known as mystical creatures that are patience and persistence in designing intricate webs out of their bodies to create their own journey. In the poems, A Noiseless Patient Spider by Walt Whitman, and Design by Robert Frost, the readers are introduced to the characteristics of the spider in comparison to the mortal s existence, morals, and values, to question, Is the Spider like my Soul? The poet, Walt Whitman loved nature and he believed that humans are part of nature, in which he identified humans with nature. From the beginning of the poem, the poet starts the first stanza with the title of the poem, A Noiseless Patient Spider (1). This is to emphasize the idea of the spider being a patient and persistent, in contrast to the usual perception of the spiders being cruel, tormenting, and fearful spider. The spider in the poem symbolizes the patience, persistence, and loneliness in comparison to the poet s own. As the poem continues, the symbolism of the noiseless patient spider becomes clear that the spider is the poet himself, his noiseless patient soul. The reader can imagine a lonely noiseless spider on a cliff, as he builds his web patiently, one string after another, to an empty space, constantly unraveling the web, and shooting the web endlessly. The symbol of spider s patience is personified to the poet s own emotions as he watches the spider noiselessly, I mark d where on a little promontory it stood isolated (2). The poet continues to write how lonely and isolated the spider must be as it shoots strings out of its own body, Mark d how to explore the vacant vast surrounding (3); and compares to O my soul where you stand, surrounded, detached, in measureless oceans of space (6 7), to symbolize his own loneliness and isolation in the world. • 39. Oxymorons In Romeo And Juliet Throughout Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet and the other poems I have studied, it is evident that being in love can incite a diverse range of emotions, and the complications and concern it can spark in those around them. In Shakespeare s prologue to the epic tragedy, it becomes apparent that both Romeo and his love, Juliet, are in for an immense battle with their emotions when he refers to them as a pair of star crossed lovers, implying that they re tragically destined to fall apart. We see at the beginning of the play how naïve and immature young Romeo is from how purely infatuated he appears to be with Rosaline. This can be seen through a variety of language techines and emotions used by Shakespeare, one of them being his use of oxymorons ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Within Romeo s speech about Juliet in Act 1, Scene 5, Shakespeare uses a lot of religious imagery to convey Romeo s intense, passionate feelings towards Juliet. For example, during one of the couple s first exchanges Romeo refers to his lips as, two blushing pilgrims. His lips are the pilgrims that are seeking the holy place, which, in this particular case, is Juliet s lips. In saying this, Romeo is almost placing Juliet on some sort of religious pedestal, implying that she has a God like power and control over him, much like God would to a pilgrim. His religious references show the severity of their love and Shakespeare may have done it as it helps create an escape from their damnation according to Christian values by creating the religion of love. Even though some Elizabethan audience members may find it difficult to relate to the character of Romeo due to his fickle nature towards love, they would understand his feelings through religion. This is because during Shakespeare s time relgion was thriving so the audience may possibly understand how important Juliet is to Romeo by how important religion is to them. However, others may have been deeply offended by this use of religion for a girl Romeo just met as he frequently refers to Juliet as some sort of God . This may incite some outrage in audience members as God is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 2001, it was rated 71st in Q Magazine s listing of The 100 Best Album Covers of All Time . Singer Meat Loaf and composer Jim Steinman commissioned the cover artwork from the renowned comic artist Richard Corben, best known for his sci fi and fantasy work. Corben s illustration effectively advertises the album s contents to the target audience as well as creating the beginnings of a visual identity for Meat Loaf . The illustration was designed to fit the size and shape of an album cover measuring 12.375 inches square. The original artwork was painted on a 24 inch square canvas board using oil and acrylic paint. Lastly, cloud system users also have to deal with the fact there could be an interruption of the systems they use. It is expected by businesses and users for the systems to be available all the time, but in reality power outages and server problems could make data retrieval and usage of the system not possible (Laudon amp; Laudon, 2012, p. 321). The factors that contribute to the problem of the distribution of data are the number of users of the programs. Having multiple distribution centers is the way that cloud is able to have so many users and to store mass amounts of data. This also contributes to the problem of tracking activities. The reason why some cloud providers do not (and do not intend to) meet security requirements is the cost of audits. If a cloud provider does not have proof of security requirements, they often have to have outside companies audit their data. Many providers do not want outside companies viewing their data and it can be costly to hire someone to do this (Laudon amp; Laudon, 2012, p. 321). Cloud computing is only as secure as the company using it is. Even though cloud applications are secure and encrypted, it is the responsibility of the business using the cloud systems to use encryption and other security measures. It is important that security measures be used on the company s side, not just the provider s side (Laudon amp; Laudon, 2012, p. 321). If ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. Julius Caesar Evil Shakespeare s tragedy Julius Caesar takes place in Rome at the time of Caesar s assassination. After Caesar returns home, he is hailed as a war hero, and the citizens of Rome plan to crown him as their ruler. Cassius, knowing Caesar will soon become a tyrant, convinces the honorable and well respected Brutus, a good friend of Caesar, to murder him for the good of the city. Although many consider Julius Caesar the hero of the play, Brutus is the true Shakespearean tragic hero. This is proven first by his inherently honorable character. Furthermore, Brutus s loyalty, which in most cases is considered a virtue, becomes a sin within the context of the story. Lastly, Brutus becomes blind to reality, believing the murder of Caesar is a good and necessary act. First and foremost, Brutus is proven to be a tragic hero by his good character. Brutus, unlike Caesar, is a humble man, known in the town to be loyal and put others before himself. For example, while Cassius attempts to rile Brutus up over Caesar s newfound fame, he argues the point that Brutus has an inherent right to the throne. Brutus responds to this by saying that [he] had rather be a villager / Than to repute himself a son of Rome (Shakespeare 1.2.180 181). While Caesar is so intoxicated by the attention and fame he receives that he agrees to rule without any critical thinking, Brutus, not blinded by greed or pride, is able to clearly see that taking on this power would not be wise. Very few would be able to resist this opportunity to be at the center of all this praise, but Brutus is both humble and wise enough to turn down what should be his role because he realizes the ability to be worshipped is not enough to make a leader. Although literary critic Harold Bloom argues that Brutus is ... morally rather vain ... [and] powerfully self centered (1 2), it is proven throughout the novel that Brutus has practically no ego and puts the needs of the Romans before his own. Reiss Pluralism Throughout the chapters of this book Reiss has done an exceptional job of depicting the nature of pluralism and expressing how the acceptance of this sex positive perspective can alleviate our current sexual crisis. The pluralistic model is rooted in the idea of personal choice and teaching individuals to not impose their views of sexuality onto others, but to accept difference even when there is disagreement. As well as this it becomes evident that pluralism offers the notion that there is no single right way of expressing sexuality, but that there are endless amounts which depend on personal interests.
