This document provides information about a development project in villages dominated by tribal communities in India. It summarizes achievements of the project from 2009-2011, including irrigating over 200 acres of land. It also describes innovations like providing safe drinking water and developing kitchen gardens. 2. HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:
 The villages selected for DBI project are dominated by Tribal/
SAURA&KANDHA by caste. Though the project villages are comes
under both Ganjam and Gajapati Dist. But it is in a compact
geographic area. The entire area is under LAKHARI Resave
Forest range. Poor socio, Economical back ground of the villages
are mainly depending on un skilled daily labour & forest produces
as well as selling of fire wood in the nearest town. Agriculture is
the secondary need for them due to lake of irrigation and other
agriculture needs.
 The available natural source was flowed it’s own way by irrigating
very less area, even not in regular. So the people are very familiar
with the drought in a regular basis. Due to lake of
knowledge/external resource the perennial water source was not
been utilased as a result the young people of the area started
migration to other states to maintain their livelihood and coming
back with carrying many diseases like STI, HIV/AIDS,
Tuberculosis and other allied diseases.

5. INNOVATIONS:
