This document provides an overview of the various shops within the Gorakhpur mechanical workshop in India, which was established in 1903 to repair steam locomotives and now repairs AC and non-AC coaches. It describes shops for inspection, machine work, wheel and shaft repair, spring section, heat treatment, and brake systems. The workshop can overhauled 180 coaches per month and uses various lathes, mills, drilling machines to perform repairs on wheels, axles, and other mechanical components.
