Fall Choral Concert Essay
The Fall Choral Concert was held in Pasadena City College, on Friday November
4, 2016 at 8pm. The concert was an hour and half long and was performed in the
Westerbeck Recital Hall (CA 140). The performs of this concert were mostly students
of Pasadena City College, whom according to their teacher and conductor Mr.
Guerrero managed to put an amazing performance in only 6 weeks.
The Conductor of the Choral Concert was, PCC concert choir and chamber singers,
Rodger Guerrero who has just joined the Pasadena City College Faculty a year ago.
Additionally, Marina Fortuna Dean was the director of the Opera scenes.
The choir arrangements were pretty consistent during all the plays. There were

and then a drum starts to progress the funeral. The drum that the speaker talks about
could be compared to a fading heartbeat as she says her mind is going numb, which

Symbolism In Blade Runner
When Blade Runner was released in 1982, it was greeted with a lukewarm reception
by general movie goers and critics alike. Director Ridley Scott s film a futuristic tale
about a group of renegade replicants (android slave labor banned on Earth, used in
the colonization of space) and the police officer (Rick Deckard, played by Harrison
Ford) hired to kill them was criticized for being too gloomy and too dense. However,
since its dismal box office run, Blade Runnerhas emerged as one of the most
thematically and stylistically influential science fiction films in recent history.
There are two key literary devices of the film that play a key role in relaying
themes. The first is setting the time, place, and context of the story. In some
literature, the setting is rich and complex, a culture of its own, a set of rules alien to
the reader that the characters in the story live by. The second is symbolism, when a
writer uses a tangible object to represent a higher, more complex notion or idea. In
Blade Runner, Scott uses key traits of the setting and symbols as a means to propose
the moral dilemmas that will one day face humanity due to its fascination with
technology.
The setting of the film is possibly the most important device in terms of theme. Blade
Runner takes place in Los Angeles during the year 2017. In the opening shot, Scott
immediately exposes us to the side effects of a full century of industrialization:
Factories fill the cityscape, pouring a never ending stream of smoke into the sky.
What was once sunny Southern California is now covered by a constant layer of
pollution that blurs night and day. Wrecked and abandoned skyscrapers trash the city.
Acid rain pours continuously. The overall sensation of the opening scene has a
sobering effect on the viewer. After decades of technological advances for the
betterment of society, what remains is a trashed, almost uninhabitable planet that has
been virtually abandoned. In essence, Scott warns us that technology has damaging
effect on both the environment and culture.

Imagine a world that s been evolved enough to forget traditional gender roles. A
world where people break from the molds and liberate themselves. That would be
progressive and productive. That is the kind of world that the future of our people

Marshall et al., (1999), interviewed a diversity of professional salespeople to give
evidence for 49 new sales activities that were not pointed out in Moncrief s (1986)
original list. These latest activities fall into the following main categories:
communication technology, selling technology, activities related to adaptive and
consultative selling, and team oriented activities. Many of the specific activities
within these categories involve skills and content knowledge dissimilar from those
traditionally observed in the past as key salesperson success factors.
This study therefore investigates the salesperson professional selling (salesperson

The Minoan civilization that flourished on the island of Crete is best known for their
recognizable architecture and art which came about during the Bronze age. The
center for administration and economic growth for the island of Crete was confined
within the Minoan Palace of Knossos. Unfortunately, the extravagant beauty of the
palace was only recently discovered when British Archaeologist, Arthur Evans,
starting excavated the site in 1900. Evans was the first to call the ancient inhabitants
of Crete Minoans. The complexity and the grandeur of the palace helps to identify
that Knossos was at one point in history the capital of Crete (Mark, 2010).
According to Greek mythology, architect Daedalus designed the palace of Knossos

These steps are as follows: First, from the very beginning, social studies should be
taught from a global perspective. We are all equal owners of the earth, none of us
are more entitled than others to share in its many wealth s or misfortunes. The
uniqueness of each individual is what adds variety to our everyday life. Second,
social studies will continue to serve nation building purposes. By pointing out the
things we share in common, it will be easier to examine the individual things that
make us different. Third, the curriculum must strive to be informed by the most up to
date scholarship. The administrators must know that in the past, we have learned
from our mistakes, and we will continue to do so in the future. By keeping an open
mind, we will take in new knowledge and different viewpoints as they are brought up.
Fourth, students need to see themselves as active makers and changers of culture and
society. If given the skills to judge people and their thoughts fairly, and the knowledge
that they can make a difference, students will take better control of life in the future.
Fifth, the program should be committed to the honoring and continuing examination
of democratic values as an essential basis for social organization and nation building.
