Servant Leadership Characteristics Of A Servant Leader
In the broadest sense, a servant leader is one who leads others with the mindset of a servant. The
primary motivation of a servant leader is to provide encouragement and facilitation in others by
treating them as an ends in themselves rather than as a means to an ends. A servant leader values
the people he or she leads by sharing power and enabling others to develop and flourish (Waterman,
2011).
Waterman s (2011) study found the following:
The expression of servant leadership characteristics in service to others is putting other people
first. Every leader should have a servant s heart, show care and concern for others and be mentor
minded, that is, have the desire and concern to build and develop others, even at his or her own
expense. (p. 25)
While there are many characteristics that are central to the development of a servant leader, the
three that stand out are respectfulness, selflessness, and commitment. Respectfulness is defined as
treating others as important people because they are important (Hunter, 1998, p. 112). Every person
has value and deserves respect. The servant leader can set the level of respect within the
organization. Showing the same amount of respect to an assistant as you would an executive
provides motivation and encouragement, therefore yielding a higher level of performance (Hunter,
1998).
Selflessness is defined as meeting the needs of others even before your own (Hunter, 1998, p. 116).
Being selfless is necessary to serve others and lead

The Political Policies Of America
One of the most unethical interest groups is actively trying to increase inequality in America today.
Americans for Prosperity is an organization that promotes unethical conservative views in America
s politics. Americans for Prosperity is a relatively new foundation that emerged from the split of
Citizens for a Sound Economy Foundation. Americans for Prosperity is one of the many political
groups that the Koch brothers and Koch Industriescreated to get their way in American legislation.
In America politics there are interest groups that will fund politicians political campaigns or lobby
the politicians to persuade them to change their minds on certain subjects. With that being said, the
difference between Americans for Prosperity and other American interests groups is Americans for
Prosperity does not have to show who funds Americans for prosperity, how much money or where
the money will go. American politics today have become so dreadfully corrupt that most Americans
don t trust their own government. The trust in the American government is at an all time low with
a meek nineteen percent congressional approval rating (Trust). Whether the system is broken or the
people in leadership positions are immoral and crooked there must be change in American Politics.
Therefore, Americans for Prosperity s history is brief however they are lawful but an unethical
interest groups, and there needs to be ethics in American politics. In the beginning, Americans for
Prosperity was a

Byzantium Quotes
The novel Byzantium by Stephen R. Lawhead is a story about many things; it is a tale of
adventure and battle but also the story of one barbarian named Gunnar. In part one of Byzantium he
is ruthless, capturing and looting, participating in fights, raids and slavery. But as the book goes on
Gunnar begins to convert the more he sees what Aidan s, the main character, religionis like.
In part one of the book Aidan s ship of monks is attacked by a group of vicious Dutch pirates
called Sea Wolves. But they all get caught in a storm, and Aiden wakes up on the beach. He sees
a seawolf on the beach and saves him, the seawolf wakes up after Aiden tries to take his knife
away but they see each other and seem to have a mutual agreement to just sit. Aiden and the Sea
Wolf are not alone for long, the group of monks having seen one of their friends down the beach
and abandoning Aiden earlier. But when the priests do come back they scold Aiden for saving the
barbarian, saying things like Leave it to Aiden to save a Sea Wolf... . And then the monks decide
to take the barbarian prisoner, which doesn t end well for them. At this point in the story when
religion, represented by the group monks is not present the barbarian and Aiden are peaceful. But
as soon as the priests show back up they decide to take the barbarian prisoner. This is a good
representation of why the barbarian would later have a bad attitude towards Aiden s religion. After
this the group comes across a village,

Analysis Of The Film Cache ( French For Hidden And Racial...
Introduction This essay aims to analyze the representation of characters in the film CachГ©
(French for hidden , 2005) and the racial issues between the colonizer and the colonized through
the psychoanalysis of colonialism and post colonialism. I will first give a synopsis of the film.
Directed by Michael Haneke, CachГ© presents the story of a bourgeois, middle aged French
man, George, who receives anonymous tapes. This makes him recall his childhood memory of
an Algerian boy, Majid. Majid s parents worked in George s house but died in the massacre on
17th Oct., 1961 when the French police killed more than 200 Algerians. After Majid lost his
parents, George s parents originally planned to adopt him. However, as George was the only
child in his family, he was afraid of letting Majid enter the family. He set up a lie by saying his
father wanted Majid to kill a rooster. George then claimed to his parents that Majid did this to
scare him; therefore George s parents sent Majid to an orphanage. About forty years later,
George, who has grown up and become a famous TV talk show host, lives with his wife and son
in the city. One day his wife, Anne, receives a videotape recording their current home for several
hours. They receive even more tapes with different recordings and threatening drawings of an odd,
curly haired little man and a rooster with its head cut off. George tries to find out who is behind
this and finds Majid. He accuses Majid of sending him the tapes as a threat;

Technological Advances In Australia Essay
Over the past century we have seen a number of technological achievements that have improved the
living standards in Australia. With inventions ranging from the television to the affordable car, all
these achievements have come together to make the modern country Australia which many call the
lucky country . There are three main technological advancements that were pivotal during post
WW2 in making the country that we know today.
The development of an affordable car in the early 1950s changed the way people lived their lives
by making private travel faster and more efficient. For once people were no longer limited to the
place where they lived, people who lived in remote areas of Australia were less isolated with the
car increasing their connectedness with urban areas in Australia. Employment opportunities
increased for people who owned a car because they were no longer limited to jobs within their
local area, also having benefits to the economy by decreasing times from going to and from work.
People were also able to go on holidays to further places for cheaper prices which increased the
amount of business in retail because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Romanticism
Romanticism emerged in the 18th 19th centuries (primarily in opposition to Neo Classism) as a
way to express, as Victor Hugo said, liberalism in literature. The Romantic way of thinking
emphasized freedom from rules, and individuality. Many works of art and pieces of literature were
made following this theme, among them the painting, Raft of the Medusa and the poem the The
World is too Much with us .
The Raft of the Medusa is a painting done by Theodore Gericault in the 1800s. It is modeled after
the tragedy that was the shipwreck of the French naval frigate, MГ©duse, and it depicts the
survivors who were adrift on the raft.
The poem, The World is too much with us is a sonnet written by the Englishman William
Wordsworth in 1802. The composition is a romantic and satirical piece criticizing the people of the
modern world for their materialistic values and their disregarding of nature.
Both of these works are the epitome of Romanticism, as they both highlight the focal points of
Romantic thought; interest in the common man, strong senses and emotions, awe of nature,
celebration of the individual, and the importance of imagination.
The Romantics enjoy the struggle of the common man , and judging by the attire of the men on the
Raft of the Medusa , they are peasants just poor, everyday guys. These men have been subjected to
this terrible fate by the actions of those more fortunate

The Health Belief Model Is Used For Health Promotion And...
The Health Belief Model is commonly used for health promotion and health education. Its
underlying concept is that health behavior is explained by perception of the disease and the
strategies available to lower its occurrence. There are four perceptions of the HBM, which are
perceived seriousness, perceived benefit, perceived susceptibility and perceived barriers. In
addition to that, more constructs are added to health belief model that includes motivating factor,
cues to action and self efficacy. Each of these constructs in combination or individually, could be
used to determine health behavior. The HBM also provides guidelines for the program
development allowing planners to address reasons for non compliance with recommended health
action. The health belief model is a process used to promote healthy behavior among individuals
who may be at risk of developing adverse health outcomes. A person must gauge their perceptions
of severity and susceptibility of developing a disease. Then it is essential to feel vulnerable by
these perceptions. Environmental factors can play a role as well as cues to action such as media,
and close friends. In order to determine that taking action will be meaningful, the benefits to change
must be weighed, against the barriers to change behavior (Green Murphy, 2014).

The Russian Revolution And The Revolution
In 1917 a great revolution would collapse Russia s monarchy and extend the color of red throughout
the world. During this time, Leon Trotsky and Vladimir Lenin were instrumental in causing the
grand collapse of the Russian government and the reformation into a communist state. The Russian
revolution changed the world when it happened and I believe it changed the people of Europe after
it occurred.
The Russian Revolution actually has two important parts to it the February Revolution (March
1917) and the October Revolution (November 1917). The February Revolution, which took place in
modern day St. Petersburg, was lethal to the royal government of Russia. It began with the bread, it
was not like they did not have the supplies for the population, the problem was the breakdown of
the transport system (Figes 68). The February Revolution was also largely caused by the
ineffectiveness of the Russian military in World War One and the failure of the Russian empire
throughout the last couple decades. The people of Russia were ashamed of the military
throwing away their lives and having to eat sparingly to survive the winter. Peasants were so
poor they could barely afford a piece of bread for a week. Mass demonstrations were held in the
squares and violence took to the streets. People ambushed the royal guards in front of the palace
and they were shot down by the insignificant force left to guard the capital. The revolution was
largely leaderless as Russian people just wanted food

Employee retention is a critical issue for all organizations and the increasingly competitive labor
market will make hiring qualified candidates even more difficult in the future. Employee retention
is an important step in building a successful ambulatory surgical center business
(Regentsurgicalhealth, 2015). According to Medical Group Management Association (MGMA)
twenty percent of receptionist and medical records staff and fifteen percent of nursing staff turn

customer satisfaction, quality of service, workplace productivity, employee morale, workflow

Less absenteeism and tardiness will help the operating room schedule stay on time, which also

experienced, full time core staff in an ambulatory surgical center is what surgeons will rely on
(Rienzo Nelson, 2009). However, maintaining an adequate per diem staff in all job categories is
important to cover the regular days off, vacation time, and sick calls of the full time staff,
ensuring your ASC is never left shorthanded (Rienzo Nelson, 2009). Flexible schedules for staff
members should include both paid and unpaid options, as well as time off for reasons other than
vacation or sick days. This will build employee loyalty and can make up for the days when staff
members are sent home early without pay for scheduling compression (Linder, March

Persuasive Essay On Saving Money
Saving money is an important part of your financial health. The more you save, the more you
can feel at ease whenever a rainy day might hit. You cannot predict the future but you can prepare
for it. If you prepare now, your future self will thank you. But how can you save if you have so
many bills and only one stream of income? Here are some tips you can use to rack up that account
with a single income.
Try to make a budget, it will be your blueprint for your finances. The first step for anyone wanting
to take control of their finances is to make a budget. A budget will allow you to understand where
your money is going and enable you to adjust your spending by designating how much you can
afford. Creating a budget is a good idea for everyone, but especially for individuals with limited
income. Write down your budget, with specific categories of spending, and stick to it. Start slowly
by using a percentage on how much you will save versus spend. A plan doesn t work unless you
work the plan.
Do not live a life that you cannot handle, spend within your means. Be honest with yourself, if you
can t afford something, don t buy it! Affordability is much more than the amount of money in your
bank account, it also is how long it will take for the money you spent to be back in your account.
Think of your finances as a long term process, not a short term fix. This is also why you should
limit your credit card usage. If you rack up your credit card and lose your sole source of income,

High Consumption Of Junk Food Essay
Introduction:
Obesity affects more than 640 million people globally. In addition, the world s population becomes
over 3 pounds heavier each decade (Encarnação et al., 2016). According to a global study
conducted by several public health professors in London, England, by 2025, 18% of men and 21%
of women will become obese (Encarnação et al., 2016). All over the world, individuals are
consuming large amounts of foods high in salt, fat and sugar due to low costs and easy
accessibility. High consumption of junk food is detrimental to human health and has resulted in the
consideration of junk food taxes all over the world in order to defeat the current obesity epidemic
(Encarnação et al., 2016). Governments all over the world should tax foods and beverages that
are high in fat, simple sugars and salt because obesity is a rising global issue and junk food taxes
will help to decrease obesity rates, reduce disease and raise revenue, which will ultimately result in
a healthier and happier generation of people.
Arguments for your position:
First of all, taxing foods high in fat, simple sugars and salt will reduce obesity rates significantly.
Secondly, the taxation of junk food will help reduce disease, which will lead to increased health
and happiness of todays generation of people.
Lastly, taxing junk food will lead to a rise in revenue, which will contribute to the health and
happiness of individuals and reduce the rising global issue of obesity.
Although junk food taxes have

Essay on History of Rumba, Merengue and Salsa
According to Holger Henke in his The West Indian Americans, Jamaican Rex Nettleford was
correct when he said, dance was a primary instrument of survival . As such a vital part of cultural
traditions, dance plays and integral role in the history culture. Three of the most influential styles
of dance in the Caribbean are the Rumba, The Merengue, and the Salsa. The word Rumba is
defined by the Merriam Webster Dictionary as a ballroom dance of Haitian and Dominican origin
in 2/4 time in which one foot is dragged on every step. Here, however, Rumba is a collection of
percussive rhythms, song and dance that originated in Cubaas a combination of the musical
traditions of Africans brought to Cuba as slaves and Spanish colonizers. The term... Show more

What we know today as Ballroom Rumba is basically son and not based on the authentic folk
rumba.
The first serious attempt to introduce the rumba to the United States was in 1913 but real interest
in Latin music began about 1929. In the late 1920 s, Xavier Cugat formed an orchestra that
specialized in Latin American music and opened at the Coconut Grove in Los Angeles and later
played at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York. By the end of the decade he was recognized as
having the outstanding Latin orchestra of the day. Monsieur Pierre was London s leading teacher
of the Rumba and in 1955 he and his partner, Doris Lavelle, introduced the true Cuban Rumba
which was finally established after much argument, as the official recognized version in 1955.
During this time, the intellectual movement known as Afrocubanismo, a sort of mass relization of
the value of African culture (especially in the Caribbean), gave roots to traditional rumba. When
this afrocubanismo movement came along, it helped open the doors to African rooted dancing and
ways of expression. Rumba became more accepted among Cubans and was a recognized cultural
expression that identified as a part of the Cuban people. It also provided the means at that point of
public expression for those without representation in the media, the Afro Cubans.
Today, Rumba is most commonly performed informally and can be broken down into three types:

Honeybees Research Paper
Honeybees are not natural to North America. They were imported from Europe in the 1600 s.
Their honey is very beneficial to humans because it is used in so many aspects of our lives. It is
used as a sweetener in syrup, candies, and medicines. In addition, its beeswax is used to make
candles, wax, and polishes to name only a few. Furthermore, the honeybee is also essential
because they pollinate our crops, our trees, and our flowers. The honeybees performed well in
North America, but not so well in South America because of the heat and the predators. Therefore,
in 1956 Africanized honeybees were imported to Brazil to create a gentle bee that would be better
adapted to living in the tropics. But with the best made plans of mice and men, some of the African
bees escaped into the wilds where they have thrived and have begun to journey... Show more

They have been known to react viciously to everyday events like sounds or tremors. In truth, the
killer bee venom is no more powerful than the venom of the honeybee. But the difference is that
the killer bees attack in greater numbers, and they have been known to chase victims for up to a
quarter of a mile. Once they are upset, they will stay agitated for up to twenty four hours. In
appearance they are slightly smaller than the European honeybee, and they are less selective
concerning where they build their hives. A small crack in a building or even a yard fixture can
be considered a home for killer bees. Even the killer bees aren t all bad because there are some
benefits to having these bees on North American continent. These bees are better at pollination, and
they are less vulnerable to pesticides. They are resistant to the varroa mites; therefore, there is no
need to spray on insecticides. Since they don t have to spray insecticide near the hives, they can

The Populist Party And The Socialist Party
The Populist Party is often referred to as the party of and for the people, and is labeled as such
because it was, very candidly, founded by the common people, such as farmers and other laborers.
While this party was in power, they had many ambitions and ideas that they sought to spread to
others, and aspired to achieve. To understand the topic completely, one requires a general
knowledge of the formation of the populist party, the elemental beliefs, goals and ideals, and how
the downfall of the party came about, as this will aid in the understanding of the populist party s
want of free coinage of silver and how it would have helped debtors initially, but would have had a

However, almost all of the populist party could be put under one label: Debtors. The farmers
involved sought to regulate prices and make them affordable, while industrialists sought to regulate
the hours in a work day. The people were left in great debt and hoped that these actions may soon
begin to lift the economic depression that they were facing. The main idea of the populist party
was to unite the common and poor people so that they may gain power as a group, and allow the
aforementioned group to gain and retain more power and say within the operations and actions of
the government. Although the party began as a group of upset farmers, soon after the movement to
create this party had begun, it caught the attention of others. Some industrial workers, and a few
stray others shared similar views as these southern and western farmers, and decided that they
would join the party, in hopes of also gaining authority, and had hope to attempt to stop the
declining economic condition. Although at first, other political parties saw the populists as
humorous, the party began to grow, causing more and more people to be forced to recognize that
the populists were gaining power, and should be taken seriously (Edwards). It started in Kansas,
when William Peffer became the first populist senate member, and shortly after, the party began to
grow. The party soon developed two different branches: Fusionists,

Strategy and Strategic Management
STRATEGY AND STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT
What is Strategy?
A strategy is a long term approach to implementing a firm s business plans to achieve its business
objectives. It is also defined as the art and science of planning and marshalling resources for their
most efficient and effective use.
However, Johnson and Scholes (Exploring Corporate Strategy) define strategy as follows:
Strategy is the direction and scope of an organization over the long term: which achieves advantage
for the organization through its configuration of resources within a challenging environment, to
meet the needs of markets and to fulfill stakeholder expectations .

It entails specifying the organization s mission, vision and objectives, developing policies and
plans, often in terms of projects and programs, which are designed to achieve these objectives, and
then allocating resources to implement the policies and plans, projects and programs. A balanced
scorecard is often used to evaluate the overall performance of the business and its progress towards
objectives. Recent studies and leading management theorists have advocated that strategy needs to
start with stakeholders expectations and use a modified balanced scorecard which includes all
stakeholders.
Strategic management is an ongoing process that evaluates and controls the business and the
industries in which the company is involved; assesses its competitors and sets goals and strategies
to meet all existing and potential competitors; and then reassesses each strategy annually or
quarterly [i.e. regularly] to determine how it has been implemented and whether it has succeeded or
needs replacement by a new strategy to meet changed circumstances, new technology, new
competitors, a new economic environment., or a new social, financial, or political environment.

My Reflective Essay Writing
Before this semester, my essay writing would have been considered rather poor. This was because I
did not understand the various components of a properly written and accompany them to

catching and maintaining their attention, to my writingfrom the introduction to the conclusion. To

Faustus, By Dr. Faustus
At the play s outset, Dr. Faustus is in his study contemplating what academic discipline is the
most fulfilling. He reviews a number of disciplines in his mind, such as logic and medicine
(which he believes he is already adequately distinguished in), and law and theology (which he
believes to have inherent inadequacies). Dr. Faustus s route from religion to magic seems to be
forcedly cobbled together in order to elicit a certain emotion towards sophists as a whole, and
Marlowe laboriously thrusts Dr. Faustus into becoming an embodiment of the term thinker in its
Momentarily pejorative context. Faustus is represented on the surface as a free thinker who
perhaps thought too much and too freely in his time, and though Faustus s story was often hailed
as a perfect depiction of free thought in excess, Marlowe seems to be more interested in Faustus s
eventual inversion of his epoch s notion that religion is the necessary vehicle to morality and
decency. Faustus is depicted at the play s beginning as an individual bent on self gratification. His
diverse interests and talents, if we are to take his proclamations of expertise as true, imply that he is
not only a very adept individual, but also a rather insatiable one. This will of course be the downfall
of Faustus, however the foreboding nature of even this first scene carries implications regarding the
text s treatment of free thinking, existential experimentation, and non conformant exploration. Dr.
Faustus ventures to the

Tying Homer s Iliad to Virgil s Aeneid Through the Theme...
Warfare is a common thread that ties Homer s Iliad to Virgil s Aeneid. However, the way warfare
is treated in the two epics is different. This can be attributed to many factors including the time
between the composition of the pieces, the fact that pieces were written by different authors, and
the fact that the pieces were written in different places. We can use these pieces to get a view of
what the society that produced them thought about war and how the view of war changed as time
went on in the ancient world. The Iliadis a poem of war. The entire narrative takes place at or near
a battlefield with men who had been fighting a seemingly never ending war for over nine years, and

An example of this is in Book IV when Ajax kills Simoisius. Homer says Telamonian Ajax struck
Anthemion s son, the hardy stripling Simoisius, still unwed... His mother had borne him along
the Simois banks when she trailed her parents down the slopes of Ida to tend their flocks, and so
they called him Simoisius. (4.547 51) In a war that has lasted nine years where untold numbers of
men have died, why would Homer take such care to tell his audience about someone like
Simoisius? Perhaps because if the listener knows something about the vanquished opponent, that
gives more glory to the conquering hero. Another reason could be that for the vanquished in death
they receive some measure of glory for fighting bravely against a famous hero like Ajax. Another
place we see this emphasis on glory when Hector returns to Troy in Book VI. Hector s wife
Andromache begs him to take his armies and make his stand near a fig tree close to the walls of
Troy.(6.511 20) While Andromache s advice may be tactically sound, Hector refuses her by
saying I ve learned it all too well. To stand up bravely, always to fight in the front ranks of Trojan
soldiers, winning my father great glory, glory for myself. (6.527 29) The overwhelming desire for
glory takes precedence over proper military tactics in this situation. While Homer gives great weight

Similarities Between Dipper And Mabel Pines In Gravity Falls
Dipper and Mabel Pines are twins and the main protagonists in the Disney XD television series,
Gravity Falls, written and directed by Alex Hirsch. In general terms, Gravity Falls is about Dipper
and Mabel, otherwise known as the mystery twins (Irrational Treasure), who were raised in
Piedmont, California, and sent to Gravity Falls, Oregon to spend their summer vacation with their
great uncle, or Grunkle Stan Pines in the woods. When they reach their destination, they find out
that Grunkle Stan is a complete con artist who runs a tourist trap called The Mystery Shack.

They compare and contrast in appearance, and most of all personality. Dipper and Mabel have
always been there for each other (Weirdmageddon 2: Escape from Reality), and through their
struggles and discovering their differences, they learn to support each other through thick and
thin, and understand their power when working together, even when their appearances and
personalities are similar and/or different. Appearance Firstly, since Dipper and Mabel are
identical twins, they are bound to have similarities in physical appearance from facial features to
body types. However, there are numerous differences, in complexion, and most importantly, in
the way they dress. Similarities in Appearance First of all, Dipper and Mabel have similar facial
structures, and in reality, the proportions of their bodies and faces are designed exactly the same.
Of their natural physical features, the only differences between them is that Mabel has got exactly
one millimeter on [Dipper] (Little Dipper), and Dipper has a birthmark on his forehead that
resembles the Big Dipper. Physical appearances that are based off of the characters self expression
such as hair, clothing, and the conditions of their bodies are completely different. Other than the
fact that both Dipper and Mabel have brown hair, since they are, after all, twins, the lengths of their

Satan In Goray Essay
When the Messiah Does Not Come, Sh*t Hits the Fan The novel, Satan in Goray, by Isaac
Bashevis Singer takes place in a 17th Century Jewish village in eastern Poland that is unsettled
by the messianic fervor that is courtesy of Sabbetai Zevi. This new fever brought about division
and destruction to the town of Goray, that Singer uses as a parallel to the Jews in his own time.
Who looking for the meaning of their own suffering, created division among themselves also. In
the novel singer presents the dangers of the false messiah, and the obsessive faith in national
redemption that he promised. Singer s father was a Rabbi that immersed himself in Kabbalistic
mysteries, while his mother was the daughter of a Rabi and a rationalist, and his brother an atheist;
with all of these different opinions Ruth R. Weiss talks about how this exposed Sinter to, all the
political philosophical challenges of the day ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Weiss writes, Sabbetai Zevi s vision of redemption took such a hold of Jewish imagination that
even upon his conversion to Islam in 1666 the year of the prophesized return to Jerusalem some
of his followers continued to believe in his divine mission (Singer, xxvii). Singer writes at the
beginning of chapter 10, Jews everywhere divided into two factions: that of Sabbetai Zevi and
their opponents (Singer, 195). In Goray, the Jew s dividing inevitably causes conflicts between the
groups of Jews and they excommunicate them from one another. This is apparent in the novel
when Reb Gedaliya and Levi excommunicate Reb Mordaci Joseph, and his followers who were
not among those who stayed faithful to Sabbetai Zevi, and returned to their original faith. He talks
about how Reb Gedaliya and Levi, removed many books from the study house and either burned or
buried them; all that remained were volumes of cabalistic mystery (Singer

The Importance Of Animal Dissection In The Classroom
Anna Phillips
Professor Mathews
ENGL 1302.P02
10 Sept. 2017
Should Classroom Animal Dissection be Mandatory? Animal dissection is very common in
classrooms and although having hands on experience exploring the anatomy of animals, I want to
look at the bigger picture on this spectrum. Back in high school my favorite part about science class
was defiantly the dissection lesson. I was that one kid who was most excited to make the first cut
into whatever organism we were dissecting that day. I enjoyed learning about different animals
and how their bodies worked. Not once though did I think what I was doing was inhumane or
unnecessary. I m very interested in this issue because I think it is a controversy not really brought
about. Animal dissection in classrooms is a significant topic to discus and should be well
educated to the public in a exposing way. Because I see both sides to this issue along with the little
knowledge I have about this topic, I have yet been able to reach a satisfactory answer. First, I
viewed the supporting argument to get a stronger understanding on why classroom dissection
should be mandatory. The supporters explain how active dissection is the best for students to learn
the anatomy and function of an animal. A recent article published by Infobase says, Actual
dissection is important to science education because it provides students with critical first hand
insight into how organisms function ( Animal Dissection ). As I was reading the supporters in
this article I came to a conclusion that dissection seems to be less confusing when it s right in
front of you. Although this may be true, physical models or computer simulators could be just as
good as alternative means. I skimmed over the opponent s argument to examine the opposing
position. Animal dissection can be looked at as an unethical practice to so many people. The
article then goes on to say, A number of students say they oppose dissection because they have
pets at home ( Animal Dissection ). Fist off people say dissection is unethical and shows a callous
disregard for life ( Animal Dissection ). I noticed in this section of the article I was reading, the
writer focused on the student s emotions towards the animal

Examples Of Peer Review The Devil s Advocate
Peer Review: The Devil s Advocate
The legal thriller directed by Taylor Hackford , The Devil s Advocate , cleverly has an
entertaining morality play. This movie is not about being someone s Devil s Advocate but actually
reflect the devil himself. The movie reviewed by my peer, Aastha Saluja, turns out to be charged
heavily on moral and ethical questions and the review successfully brings out the relation of law
and morality. The movie avoids clumsy moralization and old hat notions of good and evil. The
review written by Aastha very well portrays the question whether winning is everything in the legal
profession . By aptly identifying the core theme of the movie, my peer begins her review with an
efficiently written introduction. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Going after success and its trappings when it gets out of hand has been successfully identified
by my peer when she talks about how Kevin fought his own conscience for his greed. However
she did not elaborate it by telling how ambition is not very rewarding in the long run. She also
failed to talk about how he knew his bible. He could quote the verses his mother referred to
which can be seen in the very beginning of the movie when he finishes a verse referred by his
mother. Throughout the movie he wrestles with his calling and his passion. This was not
mentioned in her review. In this review she fails to connect the title The Devil s Advocate of the
movie to what it actually means. According to me, the title has two aspects. First being the actual
meaning of the word. Devil s advocate is a person appointed by the Roman Catholic Church to
challenge a proposed beatification or canonization, or the verification of a miracle. Secondly, how
the title indirectly talks about the Devil himself. This movie is about Satan and sin. This movie
however does not laud sin but exposes it as the tools of a devious, fallen

Medication errors occur often enough to be problematic, causing researchers to try to find the

Every time an incident like this occurs, multiple people are affected. There are a variety of
different outcomes that pertain to a medication error. As I have stated previously, multiple
people are affected when a medication error takes place. Not only does this affect the patient and
nurse, but also the physician, and healthcare that you are working for. As an employee, you
represent the healthcare facility that you work for. The patient s family will also be affected.
Say for instance you gave a patient an extremely high dose of a medication that lead to an
overdose, the patients family will be affected dramatically. There are still a high number of
medication errors for this to be problematic. This incident happens too frequently, which is why
researchers are trying to find a cause and solution. It has also been noted that there are a high
number of medication errors than what is actually reported. The Nursing Economic$ journal found
that 19% of doses given in the 36 facilities they were researching, 7% were considered as harmful
(Tseng, 2012). Even though the error affects multiple people, the nurses are the main care giver
when it comes to giving medication. Nurses are the people responsible for giving the medication.
They are responsible for double checking and making sure they are giving the correct dosage and
knowing the information about the medication they are giving. While there are a high number of

Chaldeans In America
A refugee is generally thought of as an individual who flees their country due to (but not limited to)
racial, religious, or ideological persecution. These people often leave war torn countries where
violence and tyranny strips the very freedoms and opportunities that are the inalienable backbone of
the United States. It is no surprise, then, that immigrants from every stretch of the planet have
settled in America, freely practicing their beliefs and often playing a critical role in the
entrepreneurial development of our capitalist foundation. One such group is the Chaldeans. Hailing

There are many differences between Baz Luhrman s Romeo and Juliet (1997) and Franco Zefferelli
s Romeo and Juliet (1968). When thinking about contrast between these two productions many
things need to be taken into consideration, one of the most important things is setting, as it can
give great emphasis on the situation. I realize how much time has passed while watching these two
films, the things I have noticed are listed below: В· Daggers and swords Г Guns В· Soft voices Г
Tough voices В· Friendly Г Rivalry In the 1968 version, the fight scene is in the town square on a
bright, sunny day, making the situation look happy and shiny. Whereas in the 1997 version, the
fight scene takes place on the cleverly named Verona beach (Venice beach is a notorious
gangster hotspot), this fight scene also takes place on a bright, sunny day, but this time it s not a
clean heat, it s more of a clammy, angry heat, which soon turns into a full blown storm to add
drama. I am going to merge characters and costumes together as they do go hand in hand in both
films. There is a very friendly environment in the 1968 film, there is no direct separation between
the Montagues and the Capulets as they are both really friendly and cheerful and both wear mixed
hot and cold colours. In the 1997 version there is a

Globalization Makes Society Better
Globalization benefits society as a whole because it expands markets, increases profits, creates
new jobs and has also lifted people in poor countries out of poverty.
According to Robert O Brien and Marc Williams globalization in terms of liberalization is:
the removal of restrictions to cross border flows, such as the elimination of trade or investment
barriers (O Brien and Williams:27).
Globalization has also transformed the way the world is viewed today. As technology has
improved the production of goods are made faster and cheaper as well as the transportation of
goods. As you can see in the global division of labor, certain countries specialize in different things.
For example, in the automotive industry, different parts are made ... Show more content on

Even though the manufacturing and agriculture industry have declined in the United State due to
globalization, it has produced growth in other industries. Scheve and Slaughter also argue that
the free movement of trade and capital has also benefited countries such as China and India
because it has removed millions of people out of poverty. How is globalization bad? If markets are
expanding, new jobs are being created and people are being lifted off from poverty.
Globalization has also increased competition among countries by removing regulation laws that are
undermining corporations to increase profit as well the faster and cheaper production of goods. For
example, a country that has strict labor and environmental laws will engage a Multinational
Corporation to move to a country that have these laws set at a bare minimum; this is because they
want to gain as much profit as possible with low production costs. This is where the term race to
the bottom comes into play.

the progressive movement of capital and technology from countries with relatively high levels of
wages, taxation, and regulation to countries with relatively lower levels (Spar

Psychology At The University Of Southern Mississippi
While studying psychology at the University of Southern Mississippi, I developed an interest in
youth psychological health and social well being. As an avid learner, I subsequently became
interested in clinical child research and joined Dr. Christopher T. Barry s Youth Personality and
Behavior (YPB) laboratory as a volunteer research assistant during my sophomore year of college.
After learning the dynamics of working in a research laboratory, and taking courses such as
adolescent, social, developmental, and personality psychology, my interest in interpersonal
relationships, personality, and mental health solidified. From then on, I sought to expand my
experiences in undergraduate research. For example, I participated in my first independent research
experience at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign through the Summer Research
Opportunities Program (SROP). I conducted research in the clinical/community division of the
psychology department, and my research focused on how juvenile delinquency, ADHD, and
perceptions of youth s control in choosing their own mental health service impacted the magnitude
of caregiver(s) strain. From my SROP experience, I learned a wealth of information about
tabulating data, from coding variables to running statistical analyses in the Statistical Package for

Overview
When we enter the world of Andrzej Sapkowski we were captivated with the visual quality of the
surroundings and the perfect modeling of all the characters and creatures, especially The White
Wolf (Geralt of Rivia). The quality of the textures, dynamics processing work and the perfect
implementation of all elements provide a living world around us that will leave us captivated. This
impressive finish is enhanced by the huge size of the map (3.5 times larger than Skyrim) and the
possibility of freely around on foot or on horseback without ... Show more content on

It is incredibly shocking and galling to see the incredible design of the physical context in which
we live.
You can go riding on a plain to gradually go deeper into a thick forest with giant trees that at one
point, block any sunshine. I found that the random encounters and events with people and monsters
in the open world were just as fulfilling as the main story.
I am happy to say that this kind of magical moments are more frequent in The Witcher 3 of what
many might think. Every plant, every bush, every stream, every swamp and every ravine, has a
purpose to be, leaving very clear the huge attention to detail that was put into this aspect of the
game. No, you will not get bored at any time the environment you have to explore, because its
elements will feel organic and mutating as your story progresses. In general, I can say that explore
every centimeter of the world that presents Wild Hunt, is a true delight.

Isle of Wight

Dear Sir or Madam
I am writing this letter in order to turn your attention to two different sites on the Isle of Wight. I
have been contracted by DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food Rural Affairs) to assess the
current state of the southern coast of the island. The Isle of Wight is always susceptible to
landslides and coastal erosion. Hence investigations need to be done regularly in order to minimise
the negative impacts of these events. The sites I will be talking about include:
1.Alum Bay
2.Hanover Point
Alum Bay
Alum Bay is situated on the west coast of the Isle of Wight within close proximity with the
Needles (rock formation). The bay is famous for its multi coloured sand cliffs, which make it a
perfect tourist attraction as well as a point of interest for geologists. There is a series of
vertically bedded soft sand and clays, which are weak rocks due to being geologically very
recent. The vertical beds are formed over time due to tectonic plates pushing into each other (in
this case the African plate pushing into the Eurasian plate). The rock bed started off horizontally
and due to plate pressure, the distance between one side of the crust to the other was shortened and
hence a vertical bed was formed in the middle.
Just through searching for Alum Bay on Bing maps it is possible to spot problems straightaway.

Walmart Business Analysis Essay
Wal Mart Business Analysis For the final group project we chose to complete a management
analysis on Wal Mart. Covered in this paper are the issues of productivity, hiring practices, corporate
social responsibility and culture, diversity and affirmative action, the use of information technology,
leadership, teamwork, and managing ethics. Productivity is very important to any successful
business. Wal Mart has increased its productivity through many different advances. Business
analysts have long admired Wal Mart s logistics management, even though the public recognizes
them for their low discounted prices. Wal Mart has always been resourceful at moving and stocking
goods, building its stores as branches around distribution center hubs.... Show more content on

Wal Mart employs 1.6 million Associates in the United States alone and the majority of store
associates work full time, which is well above 20 to 40 percent found in the retail industry today
(Wal Mart Facts, 2006). Wal Mart promotes from within the store and over seventy six percent of
the store management started in hourly positions (Wal Mart Facts, 2006). According to
Business Week, 2003, a sales associate earned an average of $8.23 an hour for annual wage of
$13,861.00. In 2003 the poverty line for a family of three was $15,260.00 (wakeup, 2006). It
seems that Wal Mart has to promote within to keep the moral up. If the promotion is not there,
employees will only stay for the so called benefits or until another job comes their way. In the
areas of corporate responsibility and culture, the results of the analysis were bittersweet. Wal Mart
violated the Clean Water Act in 9 states in October 2004 they were sued for $3 million to make
changes to their building codes (The real, 2005). But on a positive note, according to Business
Respect, Wal Mart pledges major focus on the environment targeting the ultimate use of renewable
energy sources and producing zero waste through their doubling the fuel efficiency of the truck fleet
within the 10 years (Business Respect, 2005). Wal Mart stores founder Sam Walton learned of a

Dumbest Generation Analysis Essay
AP Language Summer Assignment
Chapter 1:
1.In chapter one of The Dumbest Generation, Mike Bauerlein makes several statements about our
generation and comes to a conclusion that helps set the groundwork for the entire book. His
analysis of today s youth states that the current generation is lacking when it comes to intellectual
knowledge. He provides evidence that states that today s under thirty population in the United
States does not have adequate knowledge, and their lack of knowledge with affect them greatly in
their adulthood years.
2. As with most of this book, the main supports that Bauerlein uses for his conclusion come in the
form of statistics. As chapter 1 progresses, he cites more and more surveys, polls, and studies ...

Many of the statistics shocked me and made me wonder about the future for our generation. As I
continued reading, I realized how much of the surveys and statistics that he used were deceptive
and manipulated my way of thinking. Bauerlein uses and abuses statistics to sway his readers
thoughts to what he believes is correct. Statistics are not as reliable as they may seem but the
author did use valid and trustworthy resources and organizations such as The National Board of
Science. The argument was very convincing and did make me wonder about the future for our
generation and made me even more worried about the next generation after mine. Overall, the
argument was strong and well planned.
Chapter 2:
1. In chapter two of The Dumbest Generation, Mark Bauerlein expands upon his stated conclusion
from the first chapter. He proclaims that one of the main reasons for the knowledge deficits of the
under thirty generation is a nationwide bibliophobia , which is a fear of books or rather the lack of
willingness to read.
2. The main evidence that Bauerlein gives us to support his theory is statistics that are found in a
survey that show the falling reading rates for people of all ages in the last 30 years. The most
popular survey was held by the National Endowment of the Arts Association entitled Survey of
Public Participation in the Arts.

Melting Points Lab Report Essay
Melting Points
Elizabeth McGrail
Organic Chemistry I
25 January 2013
ABSTRACT
The objectives of this lab are, as follows; to understand what occurs at the molecular level when a
substance melts; to understand the primary purpose of melting point data; to demonstrate the
technique for obtaining the melting point of an organic substance; and to explain the effect of
impurities on the melting point of a substance. Through the experimentation of three substances,
tetracosane, 1 tetradecanol and a mixture of the two, observations can be made in reference to
melting point concerning polarity, molecular weight and purity of the substance. When comparing
the two substances, it is evident that heavy molecule weight of tetracosane allowed ... Show more

Once the range is obtained, remove the thermometer and beaker. Pour out the hot water and allow
both the thermometer and the beaker to cool. Once cool, repeat the previous steps with the second
compound, tetradecanol. At the conclusion of the second experiment, repeat the steps for a third
and final time using an equal mixture of both compounds. Be sure to record the melting point range
for all three experiments. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
Melting point range for tetracosane: 49 51 degrees Celsius
Melting point range for 1 tetradecanol: 37 40 degrees Celsius
Melting point range for mixture: 34 37 degrees Celsius
I was instructed to record a melting point range for each compound, rather than a single temperature
melting point. The reason for this instruction is that polymers and unpure substance melt over a
range of several degrees. Based on the melting point ranges for both substances, it is difficult to
differentiate the two based on its melting point data alone. The ranges of the substances are close
enough to one another that one could argue for experimental error when presenting the data as a
solo identifying property.
Based on these conclusions, I do not believe the tetracosane is a pure substance because I observed
the compound melt over a range of degrees Celsius. If both compounds in the mixture were
composed of tetracosane, its melting point would be theoretically, identical to the melting

Community Revitalization As A Research Problem Essay
Research Problem
Community revitalization as a research problem can be an inspiring endeavor. Community
revitalization itself and the change management approaches used can bring about significant
change that can yield extraordinary results to areas for many years to come. The current
community change effort, Impact Lufkin, in Lufkin, TX is an example of this type of work in
action. Beames (2016) states that the Impact Lufkin group was started by the T.L.L. Temple
Foundation and is made up of several other community leaders. Beames (2016) continues that the
goal is to help develop the area that has been neglected by many and help bring services in that
many residents have trouble accessing.
Appreciative inquiry (Ai) has emerged as a method for change management and is a technique that
has garnered much buzz over time. It appears that appreciative inquiry in action, focusing and
analyzing on what is working well in a situation and then multiplying that, as a concept can work
well in community revitalization efforts. Impact Lufkin is an excellent example of this concept in
progress at the moment. Beames (2016) states that the group is being assisted by interns with the
Stephen F. Austin State University School of Social Work. Beames (2016) continues in that the
interns are listening to citizens and are trying to make their vision a reality.
But how exactly does Appreciative inquiry work as a research approach for social work? Bellinger
and Elliott (2011) aver

The American Dream Truly Attainable For Everyone
America, the country where social and economic equality are supposedly attainable for one and
all, is not always infallible. There have been many blunders along the way with racism and
incompetence. Is the American Dream truly attainable for everyone? Picture the 1940 s America.
A tight knit Japanese American family living on the west coast, is going about their business,
making a living and trying to achieve their version of the American Dream. While the parents are
immigrants from Japan, the children were all born in the U.S. The parents and older children
have jobs and work hard to afford a nice suburban life, while the younger children go to school to
learn to be good citizens. They go about their business, never bothering anyone and have adapted to
the American lifestyle. As they are working to achieve their dreams, the world and devastation of
war cut their dreams short, forcing them into devastating conditions and choices no one should
have to make. Families are split apart and the Japanese Americans are now looked at as the enemy.
The attack on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese and the signing of the Executive Order 9066 sent over
100,000 Japanese Americans to internment camps, many times tragically changing their definition
of America and the American Dream. The novel, Farewell To Manzanar, by Jeanne Wakatsuki
Houston and her husband James, is an autobiographical account of Jeanne s internment experiences
and feelings as a young girl at the Manzanar Internment Camp. This

Fate Will Be Changed In Oedipus The King
Fate is an event or a series of events that happens and it is beyond the control of the receiver.
When it comes to fate, many questions arise such as: can fate be changed, can one delay fate, or
is imperative that one s fate must be fulfilled. It must be hard for a person to know his or her fate.
This can change the way a person views the world, make him or her more pessimistic, or optimistic,
and it can make a person treat others differently.
However, if one s fate is revealed to them then fate can ignite a desire to change or seek out the
truth. This is proven in the story of Oedipus, where it shows that one cannot escape destiny. When
one knows his or her future, fate has a way of aligning the star so that one will complete his or her
mission. It throws out free will because no matter how hard one tries to avoid destiny as Oedipus
did fate will ultimately win and will be fulfilled by any means necessary.
The story stems from Greek mythology era, a time full of many gods, seers, superstition, and
diverse cultures. King Laius decided to consult the Oracle at Delphi to learn if he and his wife
would procreate children. The prophecy was something that King Laius did not want to hear. She
told them any son born his marriage would kill them. Jocasta, his wife, soon was ... Show more

Therefore, Oedipus did like his biological father and consulted an oracle. The oracle told
Oedipus that he would marry his mother and kill his father. The news crushed him, so he left
Corinth to avoid the horrible fate that was destined upon him by the oracle. He left Polybus and
Merope because he thought how he could kill someone if he was not there (Mastin, n.p.). This
type of news will drive anyone insane. To hear something like this would push anyone to do
anything to avoid the words of the oracle. His fate was sealed for him and he had no control over

Easter Island Research Paper
Easter Island is a remote volcanic island in Polynesia that is well known for its giant moai
statues jotted all along it. Many scientists come to Easter Island to study how and why the
statues were made. These statues have an average weight of about 20 tons and an average height
of 20 feet. Historians are not sure how the native people of Easter Island, also formally known as
Rapa Nui, were able to drag and place these large statues in their intended locations, but the most
commonly accepted theory is that the people used long pieces of ropes to drag these statues to
their places. The Moaistatues were carved from the solid volcanic ash of the volcano Rano Raraku.
They were then taken to quarries on top of the volcanoes, where the people used ropes to hold the
statues at a 45В° angle so they could be carved even more in more detail.... Show more content on

Then, when the statues were at their resting place, they were lifted up onto a platform called an
ahu. The ahus were also used as the burial place for the person who the statue was built for. Once
placed atop the platform, eye cavities were carved into the head and they added eyes made of
coral and red scoria stone. This was the process by which all of the island s 887 statues were
made. It was an advanced method for people to use in 900 A.D. The Moai statues show the
advancing culture of the Rapa Nui people. The first ones that were made were very short and
stout, but the statues made more recently were very large and slender. The statues tell a lot about
the native people s culture, since they show the religion of the people and their way of
demonstrating their social

Research Paper On Andy Goldsworthy
Andy Goldsworthy is an artist that creates pleasing sculptures entirely out of things he finds in
nature such as stones, twigs, leaves, plant stalks, clay, ice and snow. Goldsworthy describes his
work as a philosophy that brings together a zen like appreciation of the natural world. His
artwork presents a deep connection with the Earth and all its thousand things. A respect for
position and marvels that can t be first recognised by the eye in landscape is shown through his
art. Goldsworthy arranges his artwork in a spiral that makes seperate objects seem like they re
joint. When the sculpture, pebbles, broken and scraped , is first seen, the cracks in the stones are
not very visable. The artist has seemed to want to have given an illusion

Social Media And Its Effect On Society
Technology is rapidly advancing, and in today s day in age, social media is integrated into the
majority of people s everyday lives. Individuals should take into consideration their professional
persona when it comes to social media, due to the fact that it will be beneficial for them and any
future companies they are involved with. Take for example the incident that occurred over Twitter
with American Red Cross. The company recently tweeted out an inappropriate tweet saying, Ryan
found two more four bottle packs of Dogfish Head s Midas Touch beer... when we drink we do it
right #gettingslizzard. (Huffington Post2011). Now instead of dealing with the backlash and
negativity that emerged from the tweet, the company was thankfully able to turn it around and
even launched a blood for beer campaign that gave beer to people who donated blood. Not all
companies are able to turn around and save their reputation like American Red Cross however,
and it is important to make sure what you post on the internet will not get you in hot water. Taking
into account that technology is forever, and once something is posted, it is out there. People think
that they are safe and have the ability to simply delete any data that can hurt their reputation, but it
is never really gone. In order to prevent any future conflicts, it is best if people really think about
and make the right decision on if what they are posting online is necessary or appropriate.

  • 2. Servant Leadership Characteristics Of A Servant Leader In the broadest sense, a servant leader is one who leads others with the mindset of a servant. The primary motivation of a servant leader is to provide encouragement and facilitation in others by treating them as an ends in themselves rather than as a means to an ends. A servant leader values the people he or she leads by sharing power and enabling others to develop and flourish (Waterman, 2011). Waterman s (2011) study found the following: The expression of servant leadership characteristics in service to others is putting other people first. Every leader should have a servant s heart, show care and concern for others and be mentor minded, that is, have the desire and concern to build and develop others, even at his or her own expense. (p. 25) While there are many characteristics that are central to the development of a servant leader, the three that stand out are respectfulness, selflessness, and commitment. Respectfulness is defined as treating others as important people because they are important (Hunter, 1998, p. 112). Every person has value and deserves respect. The servant leader can set the level of respect within the organization. Showing the same amount of respect to an assistant as you would an executive provides motivation and encouragement, therefore yielding a higher level of performance (Hunter, 1998). Selflessness is defined as meeting the needs of others even before your own (Hunter, 1998, p. 116). Being selfless is necessary to serve others and lead ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With that being said, the difference between Americans for Prosperity and other American interests groups is Americans for Prosperity does not have to show who funds Americans for prosperity, how much money or where the money will go. American politics today have become so dreadfully corrupt that most Americans don t trust their own government. The trust in the American government is at an all time low with a meek nineteen percent congressional approval rating (Trust). Whether the system is broken or the people in leadership positions are immoral and crooked there must be change in American Politics. • 4. Byzantium Quotes The novel Byzantium by Stephen R. Lawhead is a story about many things; it is a tale of adventure and battle but also the story of one barbarian named Gunnar. In part one of Byzantium he is ruthless, capturing and looting, participating in fights, raids and slavery. But as the book goes on Gunnar begins to convert the more he sees what Aidan s, the main character, religionis like. In part one of the book Aidan s ship of monks is attacked by a group of vicious Dutch pirates called Sea Wolves. But they all get caught in a storm, and Aiden wakes up on the beach. He sees a seawolf on the beach and saves him, the seawolf wakes up after Aiden tries to take his knife away but they see each other and seem to have a mutual agreement to just sit. Aiden and the Sea Wolf are not alone for long, the group of monks having seen one of their friends down the beach and abandoning Aiden earlier. But when the priests do come back they scold Aiden for saving the barbarian, saying things like Leave it to Aiden to save a Sea Wolf... . And then the monks decide to take the barbarian prisoner, which doesn t end well for them. At this point in the story when religion, represented by the group monks is not present the barbarian and Aiden are peaceful. But as soon as the priests show back up they decide to take the barbarian prisoner. This is a good representation of why the barbarian would later have a bad attitude towards Aiden s religion. After this the group comes across a village, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction This essay aims to analyze the representation of characters in the film CachГ© (French for hidden , 2005) and the racial issues between the colonizer and the colonized through the psychoanalysis of colonialism and post colonialism. I will first give a synopsis of the film. Directed by Michael Haneke, CachГ© presents the story of a bourgeois, middle aged French man, George, who receives anonymous tapes. This makes him recall his childhood memory of an Algerian boy, Majid. Majid s parents worked in George s house but died in the massacre on 17th Oct., 1961 when the French police killed more than 200 Algerians. After Majid lost his parents, George s parents originally planned to adopt him. However, as George was the only child in his family, he was afraid of letting Majid enter the family. He set up a lie by saying his father wanted Majid to kill a rooster. George then claimed to his parents that Majid did this to scare him; therefore George s parents sent Majid to an orphanage. About forty years later, George, who has grown up and become a famous TV talk show host, lives with his wife and son in the city. One day his wife, Anne, receives a videotape recording their current home for several hours. They receive even more tapes with different recordings and threatening drawings of an odd, curly haired little man and a rooster with its head cut off. George tries to find out who is behind this and finds Majid. He accuses Majid of sending him the tapes as a threat; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Technological Advances In Australia Essay Over the past century we have seen a number of technological achievements that have improved the living standards in Australia. With inventions ranging from the television to the affordable car, all these achievements have come together to make the modern country Australia which many call the lucky country . There are three main technological advancements that were pivotal during post WW2 in making the country that we know today. The development of an affordable car in the early 1950s changed the way people lived their lives by making private travel faster and more efficient. For once people were no longer limited to the place where they lived, people who lived in remote areas of Australia were less isolated with the car increasing their connectedness with urban areas in Australia. Employment opportunities increased for people who owned a car because they were no longer limited to jobs within their local area, also having benefits to the economy by decreasing times from going to and from work. • 7. Raft Of The Medusa And The World Is Too Much With Us Aishah Tasneem October 20, 2015 Muharram 7, 1437 Fareeda Abdur Rahman Romanticism Romanticism emerged in the 18th 19th centuries (primarily in opposition to Neo Classism) as a way to express, as Victor Hugo said, liberalism in literature. The Romantic way of thinking emphasized freedom from rules, and individuality. Many works of art and pieces of literature were made following this theme, among them the painting, Raft of the Medusa and the poem the The World is too Much with us . The Raft of the Medusa is a painting done by Theodore Gericault in the 1800s. It is modeled after the tragedy that was the shipwreck of the French naval frigate, MГ©duse, and it depicts the survivors who were adrift on the raft. The poem, The World is too much with us is a sonnet written by the Englishman William Wordsworth in 1802. The composition is a romantic and satirical piece criticizing the people of the modern world for their materialistic values and their disregarding of nature. Both of these works are the epitome of Romanticism, as they both highlight the focal points of Romantic thought; interest in the common man, strong senses and emotions, awe of nature, celebration of the individual, and the importance of imagination. The Romantics enjoy the struggle of the common man , and judging by the attire of the men on the Raft of the Medusa , they are peasants just poor, everyday guys. These men have been subjected to this terrible fate by the actions of those more fortunate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Health Belief Model Is Used For Health Promotion And... The Health Belief Model is commonly used for health promotion and health education. Its underlying concept is that health behavior is explained by perception of the disease and the strategies available to lower its occurrence. There are four perceptions of the HBM, which are perceived seriousness, perceived benefit, perceived susceptibility and perceived barriers. In addition to that, more constructs are added to health belief model that includes motivating factor, cues to action and self efficacy. Each of these constructs in combination or individually, could be used to determine health behavior. The HBM also provides guidelines for the program development allowing planners to address reasons for non compliance with recommended health action. The health belief model is a process used to promote healthy behavior among individuals who may be at risk of developing adverse health outcomes. A person must gauge their perceptions of severity and susceptibility of developing a disease. Then it is essential to feel vulnerable by these perceptions. Environmental factors can play a role as well as cues to action such as media, and close friends. In order to determine that taking action will be meaningful, the benefits to change must be weighed, against the barriers to change behavior (Green Murphy, 2014). • 10. The Russian Revolution And The Revolution In 1917 a great revolution would collapse Russia s monarchy and extend the color of red throughout the world. During this time, Leon Trotsky and Vladimir Lenin were instrumental in causing the grand collapse of the Russian government and the reformation into a communist state. The Russian revolution changed the world when it happened and I believe it changed the people of Europe after it occurred. The Russian Revolution actually has two important parts to it the February Revolution (March 1917) and the October Revolution (November 1917). The February Revolution, which took place in modern day St. Petersburg, was lethal to the royal government of Russia. It began with the bread, it was not like they did not have the supplies for the population, the problem was the breakdown of the transport system (Figes 68). The February Revolution was also largely caused by the ineffectiveness of the Russian military in World War One and the failure of the Russian empire throughout the last couple decades. The people of Russia were ashamed of the military throwing away their lives and having to eat sparingly to survive the winter. Peasants were so poor they could barely afford a piece of bread for a week. Mass demonstrations were held in the squares and violence took to the streets. People ambushed the royal guards in front of the palace and they were shot down by the insignificant force left to guard the capital. The revolution was largely leaderless as Russian people just wanted food ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Persuasive Essay On Saving Money Saving money is an important part of your financial health. The more you save, the more you can feel at ease whenever a rainy day might hit. You cannot predict the future but you can prepare for it. If you prepare now, your future self will thank you. But how can you save if you have so many bills and only one stream of income? Here are some tips you can use to rack up that account with a single income. Try to make a budget, it will be your blueprint for your finances. The first step for anyone wanting to take control of their finances is to make a budget. A budget will allow you to understand where your money is going and enable you to adjust your spending by designating how much you can afford. Creating a budget is a good idea for everyone, but especially for individuals with limited income. Write down your budget, with specific categories of spending, and stick to it. Start slowly by using a percentage on how much you will save versus spend. A plan doesn t work unless you work the plan. Do not live a life that you cannot handle, spend within your means. Be honest with yourself, if you can t afford something, don t buy it! Affordability is much more than the amount of money in your bank account, it also is how long it will take for the money you spent to be back in your account. Think of your finances as a long term process, not a short term fix. This is also why you should limit your credit card usage. If you rack up your credit card and lose your sole source of income, ... • 13. High Consumption Of Junk Food Essay Introduction: Obesity affects more than 640 million people globally. In addition, the world s population becomes over 3 pounds heavier each decade (Encarnação et al., 2016). According to a global study conducted by several public health professors in London, England, by 2025, 18% of men and 21% of women will become obese (Encarnação et al., 2016). All over the world, individuals are consuming large amounts of foods high in salt, fat and sugar due to low costs and easy accessibility. High consumption of junk food is detrimental to human health and has resulted in the consideration of junk food taxes all over the world in order to defeat the current obesity epidemic (Encarnação et al., 2016). Governments all over the world should tax foods and beverages that are high in fat, simple sugars and salt because obesity is a rising global issue and junk food taxes will help to decrease obesity rates, reduce disease and raise revenue, which will ultimately result in a healthier and happier generation of people. Three of the most influential styles of dance in the Caribbean are the Rumba, The Merengue, and the Salsa. The first serious attempt to introduce the rumba to the United States was in 1913 but real interest in Latin music began about 1929. In the late 1920 s, Xavier Cugat formed an orchestra that specialized in Latin American music and opened at the Coconut Grove in Los Angeles and later played at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York. By the end of the decade he was recognized as having the outstanding Latin orchestra of the day. Monsieur Pierre was London s leading teacher of the Rumba and in 1955 he and his partner, Doris Lavelle, introduced the true Cuban Rumba which was finally established after much argument, as the official recognized version in 1955. During this time, the intellectual movement known as Afrocubanismo, a sort of mass relization of the value of African culture (especially in the Caribbean), gave roots to traditional rumba. When this afrocubanismo movement came along, it helped open the doors to African rooted dancing and ways of expression. Rumba became more accepted among Cubans and was a recognized cultural expression that identified as a part of the Cuban people. It also provided the means at that point of public expression for those without representation in the media, the Afro Cubans. Today, Rumba is most commonly performed informally and can be broken down into three types: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Their honey is very beneficial to humans because it is used in so many aspects of our lives. It is used as a sweetener in syrup, candies, and medicines. In addition, its beeswax is used to make candles, wax, and polishes to name only a few. Furthermore, the honeybee is also essential because they pollinate our crops, our trees, and our flowers. The honeybees performed well in North America, but not so well in South America because of the heat and the predators. The Populist Party And The Socialist Party The Populist Party is often referred to as the party of and for the people, and is labeled as such because it was, very candidly, founded by the common people, such as farmers and other laborers. While this party was in power, they had many ambitions and ideas that they sought to spread to others, and aspired to achieve. To understand the topic completely, one requires a general knowledge of the formation of the populist party, the elemental beliefs, goals and ideals, and how the downfall of the party came about, as this will aid in the understanding of the populist party s want of free coinage of silver and how it would have helped debtors initially, but would have had a comprehensive and unfavorable effect on the American economy... The farmers involved sought to regulate prices and make them affordable, while industrialists sought to regulate the hours in a work day. The main idea of the populist party was to unite the common and poor people so that they may gain power as a group, and allow the aforementioned group to gain and retain more power and say within the operations and actions of the government. Although the party began as a group of upset farmers, soon after the movement to create this party had begun, it caught the attention of others. Some industrial workers, and a few stray others shared similar views as these southern and western farmers, and decided that they would join the party, in hopes of also gaining authority, and had hope to attempt to stop the declining economic condition. Although at first, other political parties saw the populists as humorous, the party began to grow, causing more and more people to be forced to recognize that the populists were gaining power, and should be taken seriously (Edwards). A strategy is a long term approach to implementing a firm s business plans to achieve its business objectives. It is also defined as the art and science of planning and marshalling resources for their most efficient and effective use. However, Johnson and Scholes (Exploring Corporate Strategy) define strategy as follows: Strategy is the direction and scope of an organization over the long term: which achieves advantage for the organization through its configuration of resources within a challenging environment, to meet the needs of markets and to fulfill stakeholder expectations . • 20. Faustus, By Dr. Faustus At the play s outset, Dr. Faustus is in his study contemplating what academic discipline is the most fulfilling. He reviews a number of disciplines in his mind, such as logic and medicine (which he believes he is already adequately distinguished in), and law and theology (which he believes to have inherent inadequacies). Dr. Faustus s route from religion to magic seems to be forcedly cobbled together in order to elicit a certain emotion towards sophists as a whole, and Marlowe laboriously thrusts Dr. Faustus into becoming an embodiment of the term thinker in its Momentarily pejorative context. Faustus is represented on the surface as a free thinker who perhaps thought too much and too freely in his time, and though Faustus s story was often hailed as a perfect depiction of free thought in excess, Marlowe seems to be more interested in Faustus s eventual inversion of his epoch s notion that religion is the necessary vehicle to morality and decency. Faustus is depicted at the play s beginning as an individual bent on self gratification. His diverse interests and talents, if we are to take his proclamations of expertise as true, imply that he is not only a very adept individual, but also a rather insatiable one. This will of course be the downfall of Faustus, however the foreboding nature of even this first scene carries implications regarding the text s treatment of free thinking, existential experimentation, and non conformant exploration. However, the way warfare is treated in the two epics is different. This can be attributed to many factors including the time between the composition of the pieces, the fact that pieces were written by different authors, and the fact that the pieces were written in different places. We can use these pieces to get a view of what the society that produced them thought about war and how the view of war changed as time went on in the ancient world. The Iliadis a poem of war. His mother had borne him along the Simois banks when she trailed her parents down the slopes of Ida to tend their flocks, and so they called him Simoisius. (4.547 51) In a war that has lasted nine years where untold numbers of men have died, why would Homer take such care to tell his audience about someone like Simoisius? Perhaps because if the listener knows something about the vanquished opponent, that gives more glory to the conquering hero. Another reason could be that for the vanquished in death they receive some measure of glory for fighting bravely against a famous hero like Ajax. Another place we see this emphasis on glory when Hector returns to Troy in Book VI. Hector s wife Andromache begs him to take his armies and make his stand near a fig tree close to the walls of Troy.(6.511 20) While Andromache s advice may be tactically sound, Hector refuses her by saying I ve learned it all too well. Satan In Goray Essay When the Messiah Does Not Come, Sh*t Hits the Fan The novel, Satan in Goray, by Isaac Bashevis Singer takes place in a 17th Century Jewish village in eastern Poland that is unsettled by the messianic fervor that is courtesy of Sabbetai Zevi. This new fever brought about division and destruction to the town of Goray, that Singer uses as a parallel to the Jews in his own time. Who looking for the meaning of their own suffering, created division among themselves also. In the novel singer presents the dangers of the false messiah, and the obsessive faith in national redemption that he promised. Singer s father was a Rabbi that immersed himself in Kabbalistic mysteries, while his mother was the daughter of a Rabi and a rationalist, and his brother an atheist; with all of these different opinions Ruth R. Weiss writes, Sabbetai Zevi s vision of redemption took such a hold of Jewish imagination that even upon his conversion to Islam in 1666 the year of the prophesized return to Jerusalem some of his followers continued to believe in his divine mission (Singer, xxvii). Singer writes at the beginning of chapter 10, Jews everywhere divided into two factions: that of Sabbetai Zevi and their opponents (Singer, 195). In Goray, the Jew s dividing inevitably causes conflicts between the groups of Jews and they excommunicate them from one another. This is apparent in the novel when Reb Gedaliya and Levi excommunicate Reb Mordaci Joseph, and his followers who were not among those who stayed faithful to Sabbetai Zevi, and returned to their original faith. • 28. The Importance Of Animal Dissection In The Classroom Anna Phillips Professor Mathews ENGL 1302.P02 10 Sept. 2017 Should Classroom Animal Dissection be Mandatory? Animal dissection is very common in classrooms and although having hands on experience exploring the anatomy of animals, I want to look at the bigger picture on this spectrum. Back in high school my favorite part about science class was defiantly the dissection lesson. I was that one kid who was most excited to make the first cut into whatever organism we were dissecting that day. I enjoyed learning about different animals and how their bodies worked. Not once though did I think what I was doing was inhumane or unnecessary. I m very interested in this issue because I think it is a controversy not really brought about. Animal dissection in classrooms is a significant topic to discus and should be well educated to the public in a exposing way. Because I see both sides to this issue along with the little knowledge I have about this topic, I have yet been able to reach a satisfactory answer. First, I viewed the supporting argument to get a stronger understanding on why classroom dissection should be mandatory. The supporters explain how active dissection is the best for students to learn the anatomy and function of an animal. A recent article published by Infobase says, Actual dissection is important to science education because it provides students with critical first hand insight into how organisms function ( Animal Dissection ). As I was reading the supporters in this article I came to a conclusion that dissection seems to be less confusing when it s right in front of you. Although this may be true, physical models or computer simulators could be just as good as alternative means. I skimmed over the opponent s argument to examine the opposing position. Animal dissection can be looked at as an unethical practice to so many people. The article then goes on to say, A number of students say they oppose dissection because they have pets at home ( Animal Dissection ). Fist off people say dissection is unethical and shows a callous disregard for life ( Animal Dissection ). In this review she fails to connect the title The Devil s Advocate of the movie to what it actually means. According to me, the title has two aspects. First being the actual meaning of the word. Globalization has also increased competition among countries by removing regulation laws that are undermining corporations to increase profit as well the faster and cheaper production of goods. For example, a country that has strict labor and environmental laws will engage a Multinational Corporation to move to a country that have these laws set at a bare minimum; this is because they want to gain as much profit as possible with low production costs. Business analysts have long admired Wal Mart s logistics management, even though the public recognizes them for their low discounted prices. Wal Mart has always been resourceful at moving and stocking goods, building its stores as branches around distribution center hubs.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wal Mart employs 1.6 million Associates in the United States alone and the majority of store associates work full time, which is well above 20 to 40 percent found in the retail industry today (Wal Mart Facts, 2006). Wal Mart promotes from within the store and over seventy six percent of the store management started in hourly positions (Wal Mart Facts, 2006). According to Business Week, 2003, a sales associate earned an average of $8.23 an hour for annual wage of $13,861.00. In 2003 the poverty line for a family of three was $15,260.00 (wakeup, 2006). It seems that Wal Mart has to promote within to keep the moral up. If the promotion is not there, employees will only stay for the so called benefits or until another job comes their way. In the areas of corporate responsibility and culture, the results of the analysis were bittersweet. Wal Mart violated the Clean Water Act in 9 states in October 2004 they were sued for $3 million to make changes to their building codes (The real, 2005). But on a positive note, according to Business Respect, Wal Mart pledges major focus on the environment targeting the ultimate use of renewable energy sources and producing zero waste through their doubling the fuel efficiency of the truck fleet within the 10 years (Business Respect, 2005). Wal Mart stores founder Sam Walton learned of a technique used in factories in South Korea that involved calisthenics and a company cheer that motivated the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Dumbest Generation Analysis Essay AP Language Summer Assignment Chapter 1: 1.In chapter one of The Dumbest Generation, Mike Bauerlein makes several statements about our generation and comes to a conclusion that helps set the groundwork for the entire book. His analysis of today s youth states that the current generation is lacking when it comes to intellectual knowledge. He provides evidence that states that today s under thirty population in the United States does not have adequate knowledge, and their lack of knowledge with affect them greatly in their adulthood years. 2. As with most of this book, the main supports that Bauerlein uses for his conclusion come in the form of statistics. As chapter 1 progresses, he cites more and more surveys, polls, and studies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many of the statistics shocked me and made me wonder about the future for our generation. As I continued reading, I realized how much of the surveys and statistics that he used were deceptive and manipulated my way of thinking. Bauerlein uses and abuses statistics to sway his readers thoughts to what he believes is correct. Statistics are not as reliable as they may seem but the author did use valid and trustworthy resources and organizations such as The National Board of Science. The argument was very convincing and did make me wonder about the future for our generation and made me even more worried about the next generation after mine. Overall, the argument was strong and well planned. Chapter 2: 1. In chapter two of The Dumbest Generation, Mark Bauerlein expands upon his stated conclusion from the first chapter. He proclaims that one of the main reasons for the knowledge deficits of the under thirty generation is a nationwide bibliophobia , which is a fear of books or rather the lack of willingness to read. 2. The main evidence that Bauerlein gives us to support his theory is statistics that are found in a survey that show the falling reading rates for people of all ages in the last 30 years. The most popular survey was held by the National Endowment of the Arts Association entitled Survey of Public Participation in the Arts. • 43. Melting Points Lab Report Essay Melting Points Elizabeth McGrail Organic Chemistry I 25 January 2013 ABSTRACT The objectives of this lab are, as follows; to understand what occurs at the molecular level when a substance melts; to understand the primary purpose of melting point data; to demonstrate the technique for obtaining the melting point of an organic substance; and to explain the effect of impurities on the melting point of a substance. Through the experimentation of three substances, tetracosane, 1 tetradecanol and a mixture of the two, observations can be made in reference to melting point concerning polarity, molecular weight and purity of the substance. When comparing the two substances, it is evident that heavy molecule weight of tetracosane allowed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once the range is obtained, remove the thermometer and beaker. Pour out the hot water and allow both the thermometer and the beaker to cool. Once cool, repeat the previous steps with the second compound, tetradecanol. At the conclusion of the second experiment, repeat the steps for a third and final time using an equal mixture of both compounds. Be sure to record the melting point range for all three experiments. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION Melting point range for tetracosane: 49 51 degrees Celsius Melting point range for 1 tetradecanol: 37 40 degrees Celsius Melting point range for mixture: 34 37 degrees Celsius I was instructed to record a melting point range for each compound, rather than a single temperature melting point. The reason for this instruction is that polymers and unpure substance melt over a range of several degrees. Based on the melting point ranges for both substances, it is difficult to differentiate the two based on its melting point data alone. The ranges of the substances are close enough to one another that one could argue for experimental error when presenting the data as a solo identifying property. Based on these conclusions, I do not believe the tetracosane is a pure substance because I observed the compound melt over a range of degrees Celsius. If both compounds in the mixture were composed of tetracosane, its melting point would be theoretically, identical to the melting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Community Revitalization As A Research Problem Essay Research Problem Community revitalization as a research problem can be an inspiring endeavor. Community revitalization itself and the change management approaches used can bring about significant change that can yield extraordinary results to areas for many years to come. The current community change effort, Impact Lufkin, in Lufkin, TX is an example of this type of work in action. Beames (2016) states that the Impact Lufkin group was started by the T.L.L. Temple Foundation and is made up of several other community leaders. Beames (2016) continues that the goal is to help develop the area that has been neglected by many and help bring services in that many residents have trouble accessing. Appreciative inquiry (Ai) has emerged as a method for change management and is a technique that has garnered much buzz over time. It appears that appreciative inquiry in action, focusing and analyzing on what is working well in a situation and then multiplying that, as a concept can work well in community revitalization efforts. Impact Lufkin is an excellent example of this concept in progress at the moment. Beames (2016) states that the group is being assisted by interns with the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Social Work. Beames (2016) continues in that the interns are listening to citizens and are trying to make their vision a reality. But how exactly does Appreciative inquiry work as a research approach for social work? Bellinger and Elliott (2011) aver ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. The American Dream Truly Attainable For Everyone America, the country where social and economic equality are supposedly attainable for one and all, is not always infallible. There have been many blunders along the way with racism and incompetence. Is the American Dream truly attainable for everyone? Picture the 1940 s America. A tight knit Japanese American family living on the west coast, is going about their business, making a living and trying to achieve their version of the American Dream. While the parents are immigrants from Japan, the children were all born in the U.S. The parents and older children have jobs and work hard to afford a nice suburban life, while the younger children go to school to learn to be good citizens. They go about their business, never bothering anyone and have adapted to the American lifestyle. As they are working to achieve their dreams, the world and devastation of war cut their dreams short, forcing them into devastating conditions and choices no one should have to make. Families are split apart and the Japanese Americans are now looked at as the enemy. The attack on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese and the signing of the Executive Order 9066 sent over 100,000 Japanese Americans to internment camps, many times tragically changing their definition of America and the American Dream. The novel, Farewell To Manzanar, by Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston and her husband James, is an autobiographical account of Jeanne s internment experiences and feelings as a young girl at the Manzanar Internment Camp. • 46. Fate Will Be Changed In Oedipus The King Fate is an event or a series of events that happens and it is beyond the control of the receiver. When it comes to fate, many questions arise such as: can fate be changed, can one delay fate, or is imperative that one s fate must be fulfilled. It must be hard for a person to know his or her fate. This can change the way a person views the world, make him or her more pessimistic, or optimistic, and it can make a person treat others differently. However, if one s fate is revealed to them then fate can ignite a desire to change or seek out the truth. This is proven in the story of Oedipus, where it shows that one cannot escape destiny. When one knows his or her future, fate has a way of aligning the star so that one will complete his or her mission. It throws out free will because no matter how hard one tries to avoid destiny as Oedipus did fate will ultimately win and will be fulfilled by any means necessary. The story stems from Greek mythology era, a time full of many gods, seers, superstition, and diverse cultures. King Laius decided to consult the Oracle at Delphi to learn if he and his wife would procreate children. The prophecy was something that King Laius did not want to hear. • 47. Easter Island Research Paper Easter Island is a remote volcanic island in Polynesia that is well known for its giant moai statues jotted all along it. Many scientists come to Easter Island to study how and why the statues were made. These statues have an average weight of about 20 tons and an average height of 20 feet. Historians are not sure how the native people of Easter Island, also formally known as Rapa Nui, were able to drag and place these large statues in their intended locations, but the most commonly accepted theory is that the people used long pieces of ropes to drag these statues to their places. The Moaistatues were carved from the solid volcanic ash of the volcano Rano Raraku. They were then taken to quarries on top of the volcanoes, where the people used ropes to hold the statues at a 45В° angle so they could be carved even more in more detail.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then, when the statues were at their resting place, they were lifted up onto a platform called an ahu. The ahus were also used as the burial place for the person who the statue was built for. Once placed atop the platform, eye cavities were carved into the head and they added eyes made of coral and red scoria stone. This was the process by which all of the island s 887 statues were made. It was an advanced method for people to use in 900 A.D. The Moai statues show the advancing culture of the Rapa Nui people. The first ones that were made were very short and stout, but the statues made more recently were very large and slender. The statues tell a lot about the native people s culture, since they show the religion of the people and their way of demonstrating their social ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 49. Social Media And Its Effect On Society Technology is rapidly advancing, and in today s day in age, social media is integrated into the majority of people s everyday lives. Individuals should take into consideration their professional persona when it comes to social media, due to the fact that it will be beneficial for them and any future companies they are involved with. Take for example the incident that occurred over Twitter with American Red Cross. The company recently tweeted out an inappropriate tweet saying, Ryan found two more four bottle packs of Dogfish Head s Midas Touch beer... when we drink we do it right #gettingslizzard. (Huffington Post2011). Now instead of dealing with the backlash and negativity that emerged from the tweet, the company was thankfully able to turn it around and even launched a blood for beer campaign that gave beer to people who donated blood. Not all companies are able to turn around and save their reputation like American Red Cross however, and it is important to make sure what you post on the internet will not get you in hot water. Taking into account that technology is forever, and once something is posted, it is out there. People think that they are safe and have the ability to simply delete any data that can hurt their reputation, but it is never really gone. In order to prevent any future conflicts, it is best if people really think about and make the right decision on if what they are posting online is necessary or appropriate.
