STATEMENTS

EXAM FOCUS
This topic review covers the third important required financial statement: the
statement of cash flows. Since the income statement is based on the accrual method,
net income may not represent cash generated from operations. A company may be
generating positive and growing net income but may be headed for insolvency
because insufficient cash is being generated from operating activities. Constructing a
statement of cash flows, by either the direct or indirect method, is therefore ... Show

Noncash investing and financing activities are not reported in the cash flow statement
since they do not result in inflows or outflows of cash.
For example, if a firm acquires real estate with financing provided by the seller, the
firm has made an investing and financing decision. This transaction is the equivalent

Color In Pleasantville
Color in Pleasantville is something totally unheard of until one day when David
and Jennifer are sent there through their television. In Pleasantville, everything is
in black and white and nothing ever changes. It is always bright sunny skies with a
high of seventy two and low of seventy two degrees. Everyday is exactly the same
and everything is perfect in their eyes. There is never any fighting in this town and
the only thing the fire department ever does is save cats from trees. The wives do
everything for their husbands, like doing all the cooking and cleaning. The children
always obey their parents and never fight with their siblings. All the men go to
work at exactly the same time everyday and expect dinner on their tables as soon as
they get home. At the town s high school, the basketball team has never missed a
single basket in a game and they have never lost a game. Every single thing in
Pleasantvilleis perfect without a single complaint. One day, twins David and Jennifer
are sent into Pleasantville by a crazy old man and almost instantly things start to
change. As soon as they get to school, Jennifer asks the teacher what is outside of
Pleasantville and everyone looked back at her like she was absolutely insane. As the

As the movie progresses, the books start filling with words and people start reading
them like crazy. The men that did not like the colored things, did not like the books

and when the teenages read what was in the books, they wanted to do things that
were mentioned. The library was shut down when the men condoning the colors
found out it was bringing more color into their once black and white town. This is

Earn Passive Income Essay
5 Ways You Can Earn Passive Income in College
Everyone knows the trope of the broke college student. They eat ramen every day,
can t afford the heat in the winter time, and have zero disposable income. However,
if you re a college student, that doesn t have to be you. No matter how busy you are
with classes and schoolwork, there are ways to earn a completely passive income.
If you want to make money with little effort, this list is for you. Try out these five
ways you can earn passive income in college, and watch your bank account grow
instead of shrink this year.
1. Write an Ebook
Writing and selling an ebook is one of the easiest ways you can earn passive income
as a college student. Gone are the days of large publishing houses and ... Show more

Find a specific niche to target on your college campus, focus on it, and do it well. A
broad travel or comedy channel has been done to death, and the competition is too
strong.
Instead, try creating and marketing your channel to your classmates, faculty, and
alumni. A channel that reviews dining hall food, interviews staff, showcases clubs
and events, shares breaking campus news, or recaps parties are all a good place to
start. Of course, the more ridiculous, hilarious, and entertaining your channel is, the
better.
Spend a few hours goofing off with friends and making your videos, spread the word,
and as views go up, your bank account will as well.
3. Invest
Investing requires the largest amount of income on this list, but it also takes the least
amount of work. So, if you have some money in the bank but no time on your hands,
this may be the passive income stream for you.
Investing is a broad term that encapsulates many different options. You can buy a
rental property (ok, that s probably not possible for most college students) but you
can also think a little smaller.
Sites like Flippa sell websites and blogs that are already up and running and
generating an income. Spend a day reviewing and purchasing one, and start earning a
passive income immediately.
You can also invest in the stock market. Read these inspiring must know investor
quotes, and then hit the ground running.
The great thing about this option is that you ll learn a valuable

symbol of wealth; Silk s bright luster and soft touch are the main reasons it was a
favored clothing material among the nobles of Europe and Asia. The silk industry,
sericulture, has gained Chinamajor trading opportunities, bringing the country much

Silk was such a luxury when it was first invented, only the emperor and his close
relations were allowed to wear it. Later on, silk became less restricted, nobles
could wear it ( Legend of Silk ). Eventually, silk became something common:
various classes were able to wear silk clothing and it came into more general use.
Silk was used for everyday items such as fishing lines, bowstrings, and rag paper. In
the Han dynasty, farmers sometimes paid a portion of their taxes in silk. Silk was
also used for paying civil servants and rewarding outstanding subjects. Values were
calculated in lengths of silk and it was used as money used in foreign trade. It was
possible this added importance was the result of a major increase in silk
production. The silk road was an ancient network of trade routes that stretched
from China to Eastern Europe. The silk road was important because it allowed
trade to flourish in several different kingdoms, allowing ideas, culture, inventions,
and unique products to spread ( Legend of Silk ). One of the major products traded
along the silk road was Chinese silk, therefore giving the route its name. The
valuable textile was sought after by nobles all across Europe and Asia, and China
became known for its beautiful silk cloth, prized for its softness and
Similarities Between Scarface And Scarface
Introduction
How are the two movies different from each other? Is it the era, the theme of or its
execution? In retrospective, both will surely have difference, especially since the
two are created with different aims. If one is to analyze the films, one will find a
grey area between its differences, wherein differences are both superficial and minor
at best.
Scarface is a crime drama film that is famously known for being one of the most
violent and profanes films during its time of release. Focusing on the rise of Tony
Montana (Al Pacino) on the criminal ladder and becoming more psychotic as his
career as the leader of his drug empire progresses, leading to his eventual downfall.
Directed by Brian de Palma, written by Oliver Stone and with performance of the
cast with the lead Al Pacino, Scarface became a cult classic among the ... Show more

Both films are distinct in its execution. The Godfather s portrayal is a more subdued
one, Brando s speeches and philosophizing gives a more intellectual approach. Life in
the mafia is hard, but is not fully shown. It is layered behind the walls of character
development and dialogue, while they are eating together for dinner and sharing
insults about their mothers, the next scene will show the group getting ready for a
hit. Politically, The Godfather has no strong indication of getting associated with
politicians, though there are suggestions, they are not enough to be fully fleshed out.
Scarface, on the other hand, is a steady but surely approach. Rough neighbourhood
with murdering Indians, underling takes crown from boss after confrontation, and
the main character becoming more paranoid and delirious as he snuffs coke into his
nose. Politics also play a rule in the mindset of our hero, Tony would gladly carve a
hole on a communist, and he would get really angry when hearing Colombians are

Automobile Safety Essay
People in developed countries all over the world have come to see automobiles as
the preferred way to travel. They allow independence: point to point transportation
without having to rely on others to get where we want to go, to do what we want to
do. Long range travel and short range travel can be undertaken whenever one desires,
either alone or with other people. Citizens of the modern world must often wonder
how people ever lived without automobiles. To think that human beings once traveled
everywhere by foot or on horseback is not just a humorous idea to reminisce; it is
foreign concept that would not allow the social and business cultureof today to exist.
It is almost as foreign a concept that early automobiles were driven ... Show more

Simple mistakes, that everyone makes, can lead to great harm. Even the most
cautious and agile driver cannot avoid every possible stalled car, unexpected
furniture, careless cell phone user, stray animal, unexpected construction, or drunken
driver on the road.
Automobiles are therefore a huge source of potential injury, and even death. In the
year 2001 alone, 37, 795 people lost their lives in automobile accidents in the
United States. That is more people than the populations of many small cities in
America. In fact, that is over ten times more lives lost than were lost in the horrible
attack on the World Trade Center in 2001! On top of that, over two million people
were injured in automobile accidents in the same time frame.3 Neither of these
numbers includes the thousands of pedestrians who are killed or injured every year
by automobiles.
Given the risks involved in the use of automobiles much consideration should be
given to how to best make automobiles safer for humans. Often times, however, safety
is not the first consideration in automobile design. Some automobile manufacturers
do not even look carefully at safety considerations until a new product is sent down
the crash test line and adjusted until it makes government safety requirements. On the
other hand, some manufacturers start car design with safety as their first priority.

The Hurt Locker Character Analysis
In 2008, director Kathryn Bigelow presented The Hurt Locker, a war drama
focusing on an army bomb squad during the Iraq War. When Sergeant JT Sanborn
loses one of his men from to an explosion, Sergeant First Class William James
replaces the bomb defuser and joins Sanborn and Specialist Owen Eldridge. Due to
Sanborn s heavy ego and James reckless methods, tensions rise and the men
constantly quarrel until the three realize their similarities of being entrapped by war.
The film explores the idea of soldiers as heroes and even questions the validity of this
concept; various situations challenge James and his reactions do not always
correspond with those of a clichГ© idol. Although James contradicts the idea of the
typical hero, he ultimately exhibits... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bigelow operates this idea entirely; she begins by proving realistic heroes also
benefit from their own actions. Past films display heroes actions as only benefiting
the lives of citizens as a collective whole, but Bigelow does not believe in solely
choosing between the happiness of the people and the happiness of the hero. Instead,
James endeavors serve his country and himself personally. Additionally, Bigelow
recognizes how heroes possess flaws and how this forms a connection between
heroism and humanity. James demonstrates his faults through his humane reaction to
a body bomb; instead of following common protocol and destroying the young boy s
corpse, he keeps the carcass intact and ultimately ends of killing another soldier due
to an explosion. This scene also validates how heroes must take risks that threaten
the lives of others. Audiences already understand how a typical American hero can
jeopardize his own life, but the modern American hero understands he cannot
sacrifice himself alone; others might face risks as well. The scene in which James
and his squad oppose military orders during their final mission also supports this
characteristic. Because Bigelow portrays the character of James as a

What kind of result was found by the research design? Compare the effectiveness of
the survey research to the other subordinate data, experimentation or observation in
the perspective of gathering information for this project. The type of survey that the
Remington Restaurant used was the self administered Internet survey. This kind of
survey is probably the cheapest survey for the person collecting data. It involves
minimum personnel and low cost as compared with other methods. Since 73% of
American households are actively using the Internet, an Internet survey would be the
best idea to cover a large location fact while conserving energy, money, and time
(Cooper, Schindler, 2008). Internet survey s can also give one access to graphs, charts
and percentages automatically. Also, the Internet survey will be able to give one an
idea of the customer s attitude and perception of the Remington s Restaurant. By
using secondary information one would be able to see general information such as,
what the demographic is of the average family is in the area, what is the general
income, and how many times the family eats at restaurant in a week. By shifting the
focus off of the Remington s Restaurant and on to the genre of restaurants the
Remington s Restaurant is associated with would dilute the information the
Remington s Restaurant wanted to know about their customer s satisfaction with the
Remington s Restaurant.
Black Vs White Vs Civil War Essay
America has faced a lot of hardships since being created by our founding fathers.
We experienced the struggle for freedom, westward expansion, and a nation
divided upon itself. However, one of the biggest struggles faced in America is
segregation, racism, and the division of people against each other. Since the Civil
War it has been one of the greatest conflicts in our nation s history. Black vs. White
is an issue that has been debated from the early beginning of our nation to the civil
war to the civil rights movement and even today African Americans are
discriminated against. W.E.B. Du Bois stated that the issue with modern america is
the color line . 1 Famous figures such as Carnegie even knew this back when he
was running his steel company. According to Carnegie, We start, then, with a
condition of affairs under which the best interests of the race are promoted. 2
Unfortunately, what Du Bois said is true and accurate, but to fully understand why
we have to start back at 1861. As we all know one of the biggest conflicts of the
American Civil Warwas the issue of slaveryand should they be considered people...

People have unjustified hates and our history supports the division of people.
From whites and blacks all the way to men and women, there is just no equality.
Society has always been divided into cliques and groups and it does not appear to
have an end in sight. Even on a worldwide basis people ask for World Peace, but
then we have these conflicts among race, religion, and origin that cause conflicts
for no reason. In the Middle East, fighting has been going on forever just because
of a difference in religion. It is not just an American issue, it is a worldwide issue.
However, whatever the reason for our unjust judgement and treatment of people
maybe one day we can all get past it and get our society to a new level of tolerance

Business Intelligence Plan Essay
Business Intelligence Plan
Executive Summary
The purpose of this report is to explain the importance of Business Intelligence and all
of its components for implementation into the business structure. During the recent
years obtaining useful information in real time has become something that is
extremely important, if not even a critical, factor of success for companies. The time
managers have available for use in making business decisions has been reduced
dramatically. Competitive pressures are now requiring that businesses make
intelligent decisions based on their incoming business data, and these decisions must
be made immediately (Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing, 2005, p.5;

This is an essential component of BI for arriving at valid business decisions.
Similar data can be stored in multiple repositories within a single business; one
example would be the inventory of items for sale. When considering data sources, it
is important to understand if there is a recognized authoritative source for a specific
type of data. In many enterprises, the data required for making business decisions is
created by wide ranging applications, perhaps from separate lines of business (Theme
1).
BI systems today have the capacity to work with numerous types of data such as
numerical or non numerical data. The quality of this data is as important as any
other data. The difference in the level of data quality is one of the many factors that
may explain why some organizations are successful with their BI initiative while
some are not so successful (Isik, O., Jones, M.C., Sidoroya, A. 2011).
Component three is Data Analytics. This component is used for the analysis of data.
Data analytics refers to the business intelligence technologies that are grounded for
the most part in data mining and statistical analysis. Due to the success that has been
achieved overall by the data mining and statistical analysis community, data analytics
continues to be an active area of research (Hsinchun, Chiang, Storey, 2012).
Data analytics are structured in statistical theories and models, multivariate statistical
analysis. It also covers other
Examples Of Literary Devices In The Black Cat
Literary Devices Essay
Have you ever wanted to pick apart a piece of writing the way one might pick off
the toppings of a pizza? I see literary devices as the toppings and the dough is the
good writing. Literary devices refer to the typical structures used by writers in their
works to convey his or her message in a simple manner to his or her readers. When
employed properly, the different literary devices help readers to appreciate, interpret
and analyze a literary work. , and by developing a strong understanding of what they
are and how they function, one can increase their enjoyment of the writing.
Connotation refers to a meaning that is implied by a word apart from the thing
which it describes explicitly. One work I have seen it in is The Black Cat . In this
work, connotation has been used negative common seen as bad luck in many
cultures. Throughout The Black Cat connotation appears quite a few times, one that I
found interesting was when he had found a new cat, the cat had white fur around its
neck, Poe states that the fur starts to turn into the form of the gallows which is what
Poe had used to hang the old cat. The cat is a sign of connotation as bad luck.
Imagery is the use of figurative language to represent objects, actions, and ideas in
such a way that it appeals to our physical senses. In The Black Cat , Poe uses words
and phrases to create mental images for the reader, imagery helps the reader to
visualize and see it more realistically. For example,

Capitalism and Freedom by Milton Friedman: The Economist s Pride and Prejudice
The opening line of Milton Friedman s Capitalism and Freedom reads as an opening
line in a Jane Austen novel: It is widely believed that politics and economics and
separate and largely unconnected; that individual freedom is a political problem and
material welfare an economic problem... sounds similar in structure and tone to It is
a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune,

In actuality, Friedman admits that the market system has many more
complications, not the least of which was the introduction of money, but at its
center still stands the two principles of a truly voluntary system: (a) that enterprises
are private, so that the ultimate contracting parties are individuals and (b) that
individuals are effectively free to enter or not to enter into any particular
exchange, so that every transaction is strictly voluntary . These factors are the
building blocks of economic freedom, where each individual holds an equal vote in
the way the market works. Now having established the basis of economic freedom,
Friedman goes on to explain how these principles can help to form political
freedom in a nation. The main tool of a capitalist market to impose political
freedom in a society is competition. Friedman states that if a few wealthy people are
convinced of an idea, enough competition will be introduced to the market to make a
difference. In history, this has proved true. Friedman uses the historical examples to
make his point, including the 1950s Hollywood writers blacklist. Writers who had
been suspected Communists were blacklisted in Hollywood and not hired by
production studios. In 1959, however, one such company hired a writer off the
blacklist and while the produced his film under a pseudonym, when the
The Aspects Of Contact Sports In Soccer
Contact sports are sports that you make contact with the ball or the player. In this
report, it classifies what are contact sports and what the rules equipment and players
are.
Soccer is a game where two teams of 11 play against each other to score and win
the game. The aim of the game is to get the ball into the soccer goals and at the end
of the game the team with the most goals wins.
In soccer there are 45 minutes in each half and there are two halfs. In soccer a
player cannot touch the ball with their hands or else their opposition is awarded a
foul. Red cards are worse than yellow cards. When someone gets a red card they
are sent off for them game and the next one. This also happens when you get two
yellow cards in the same game. Offside is one of the hardest rules to explain out of
them all. An offside is when you pass the ball to a teammate while they are offside.
One of the most famous players in soccer history was Edson Arantes do Nascimento,
also known as Pele. Pele scored 1281 goals out of 1363 games. Pele was known as
the most successful player in the world to score this much goals in soccer. Neymar

How does Shakespeare present relationship between Men and Women and how might

During the time of Shakespeare women lived in a male dominated society. Women
In this period had virtually no legal power and lost all right to own all personal
property when they married. Men were expected to be the heads of the households.
Once a boy turned eight he no longer was required to obey his mother. The ideal
woman was believed to be a virgin and a faithful wife. Female honour and social

Hermione is reasonable and rational; she is proud of her self and confident that she
has done no wrong. She trusts in her husband to find the truth, where as Leontes

her rights against this hysterical man, we admire her for her dignity. Although
Hermione accepts the charges the lords of the courts show that Hermione is true and

Hermione and Leontes rests the relationship of Paulina and Antigonus. Unlike
Hermione, Paulina is a strong minded and dominant woman and does not let her
husband rule her like Hermione does He shall not rule me . Paulina and Antigonus
seem to contradict the conventional rules of marriage because at the time of the play
it was very unusual for a woman to be in control of the marriage. Although in today s

Examples Of Justice In The Crucible
Imagine the wicked House of Un American Activities Committee (HUAC) arrest an

HUAC in the Red Scare crisis of the 1950s. These communists made the right
decision to speak out for their freedom and against injustice. These communists also
spoke out for their freedom of different beliefs. Speaking out for freedom and
against injustice is also present in Shirley Jackson s short story The Lottery, Arthur
Miller s tragic play The Crucible, and Elia Kazans fictional movie On the Waterfront.
Ultimately, these texts illustrate that injustice, the desire for freedom, and the threat
to one s rights makes it appropriate for a person to speak out in times of crisis.

In the 1950s, many Hollywood writers and directors became victims of the

The Marxist Labor Theory Of Value
As with past articles in this series, this should not be taken as a refutation of each
argument rather it should be read as my comments on each but in this case my
thoughts are why they are wrong. Unlike with Anarcho Capitalists and Black Livers
Matters I do not think communists and socialists (for the purpose of this article I will
just use communismas a encompassing umbrella term) offer any positive to society
and because of that should be actively refuted.
1. We need communism because without it workers will be exploited I consider
the basis of this claim, the Marxist Labor Theory of Value, to be the economic
equivalent to the flat earth theory. In essence this claim asserts that because value
is objective and the worker creates X amount of value, say a five dollar widget, that
because they were only paid four dollars the capitalist exploited a dollar of surplus
value from them (this surplus value is the source of profit).
This account fails because it is premised on a lie, that value is objective. In reality
value is subjective and because of this reality surplus value is not possible. Profit
does not come from extracting surplus value but rather it comes from delaying
consumption, organizing production and taking risks. Lastly, as in any voluntary
exchange, this is not a win lose exchange but rather it is a win win exchange. Both
parties value what they give over what they get. In truth, there is exploitation but this
exploitation goes both ways.

Why Is Graham Hess Is The End Of The World Essay
Graham Hess is a protagonist character from the movie Signs (2002), who is a
retired priest that lives on a farm in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Graham has been
left with the duties of taking care of his children after the death of his wife in an
automobile accident. In the movie, Graham and the rest of his family are hiding
and protecting themselves from the suspicious nearby lights from the invading
aliens. In this scene, Graham and Merrill converse until a very important but
seemingly unanswerable question arises. The question being if Graham believes
this, the alien attack, is the end of the world. This followed by Graham giving a
short monologue in which he asks Merrill, Are you the kind of person who sees
signs and sees miracles? This question pertains to the various beliefs of many
individuals about whether there is an overlooking figure, possibly God, that is
responsible for all actions. It is a very relevant and important question if you
consider the fact that it so closely relates to our curriculum in PH 231 C, The
Introduction to the Philosophy of Knowledge. Over the course of the semester, we

Theme Of The Love Song Of J Alfred Prufrock
The dramatic monologue, The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock , is a short poem
written by the Nobel Prize winner, and scholar T.S. Eliot. He wrote this poem and
published it in the Poetry Magazine in 1915, while he was still in college at
Washington University in St. Louis. Eliot is one of the most important English
language writers of the 20th century, and he lived in St Louis at an early age being
raised by his mother. His mother was both loving and manipulative, and from that a
lonely and strict adolescence, came a man with an immense desire to be
independent (Gladstein). Eliot s poem is about a man by the name J. Alfred
Prufrock, who is a very awkward man, telling us the story of him trying to open
himself up to his lover. Prufrock is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bradley. Bradley examination was on Private Consciousness and this became a
theme of Eliot s later works (Puchner 2119). The most relevant characteristic that
both Eliot and Prufrock share is private consciousness. Private consciousness
means to have a heightened sense of awareness as a person, and to care about what
others think of the actions that you take. Prufrock speaks tells the readers about
this matter a few times. Prufrock is very self conscious about himself and seems to
care mostly about how he looks and what others think when they look at him: With
a bald spot in the middle of my hair (The will say: How his hair is growing thin! );
(They will say: But how his arms and legs are thin! ); Do I dare Disturb the
Universe? (Eliot 2124). The narrator, Prufrock, is really worried about what the
people around him think. More importantly, he is also very curious and nervous
about how his lover will respond to the feelings that he has for either him or her.
Near the end of the work, Prufrock goes on to tell readers about how he is getting
older which also compliments the idea of private consciousness I grow old ... I
grow old... I shall wear the bottoms of my trousers rolled. (Elliot 2126). Eliot heavily
portrayed this theme to be distinctly private consciousness, because of the importance
and emphasis on how Prufrock really is nervous and worried about what others think
of him and that really affects the story theme as a whole. During

I have always had a passion for helping others. I can t remember a time in my life
where seeing my actions allow someone else grow and succeed didn t bring my

changing the rules of the educationsystem through policy. Though nothing can stop

I believe that the job analysis was extremely accurate; however the Myers Briggs
Test was not what I expected. All these years I had thoughtI was an ENFJ, but this
test classified me as an ISFJ. I hypothesis this change was due to me taking the test
much later. We as people go through many changes and develop different habits
throughout our life and the last time I took this test was in high school so perhaps I
too have changed.
As for my personality traits matching with my dream job, strangely enough,
instructional coordinators tend to be ENFJs, which is the Myer s Briggs

instructional coordinators are in charge of managing and sometimes creating

of their job, those who have this career usually have to enjoy working with others
directly and create strong relationships with those that they work with. It would also

implement new curriculum. Though my personality based of the most recent test I

The Role Of Self-Authorship In Revenge Of The Nerds
College is a time of transformation for students as they adapt to new environments
and expectations. It is also a time of increased freedom, where students learn more
about themselves and who they are as people. Baxter Magolda s Theory of Self
authorship deals with the journey of a person as they define themselves and move
from external to internal definition. In the movie, Revenge of the Nerds, many of the
characters move through this journey of selfauthorship. In this paper, we will focus
on one of the characters in the movie, and show how he frees himself from the
constraints of external definition. We will begin with a brief summary of the movie,
and then focus on how Magolda s theory applies to the film.
Revenge of the Nerds is focuses on two best friends, Gilbert and Lewis, who are
freshman at Adams College. For the purpose of this paper, we will focus mostly on

In this phase, individuals ground themselves in an internally defined belief system
and gain a deep understanding of themselves (Evans, et al., 2010). Along with this
understanding comes feelings of strength that emanate from a pride for who they
are; they are aware of external pressures, but do not give into them (Evans, et al.,
2010). After defeating the jocks in the competition, the nerd house was completely
destroyed. Lewis wants to give up, but Gilbert is infuriated and wants to keep
fighting. He disregards external opposition and goes to the pep rally to confront the
jocks. He makes a speech declaring that he is a nerd and proud. It is clear at this
point in the movie that Gilbert has moved from trying to fit external expectations, to
embracing an internal form of self definition. He realizes who he is and embraces
that identity, defending it against opposition from the jocks. Thus, Gilbert completes

White Circle Tucker
The White Circle is a very interesting story about a boy named Tucker who has a
brother call Anvil. Tucker gets mad at Anvil for eating apples from his apple tree
and Tucker tries to kill Anvil. Anvil gets mad and runs away from Tucker and does
not come back. So, how is the White CIrcle about justice? In the White Circle
Tucker has more power than Anvil because Tucker has his Old Man (father) on his
side and the Old Man hates Anvil but loves Tucker. They don t hate you I lied.
Anyway I don t hate you (Clayton). This sentence that was used in the white circle
shows that Tucker also like Anvil a times and that not everyone hated him. Tucker
also wanted to kill Anvil at times when Anvil was acting bad. In the White Circle
when Tucker was trying to kill Anvil with the fork, Tucker showed that he cared
more about his apple tree than he did about Anvil. Although Tucker comes from a
better family than Anvil, Tucker still can can have an evil mind at times.Tucker
comes from a better family because he uses more proper words, but Anvil comes
from a worse or less educated family because he uses more slang language in his
words. In the story Anvil climbs the apple tree to eat the apples because he was

Commodity In Karl Marx s Substranged Labor
In the first chapter of Capital, Commodities Karl Marx introduces to his readers
the relationships between things and human beings. He defined commodity as a
material or a product as a way to understand how value works. His thing was to get
his readers more involve in understanding that the labor of time is necessary to
produce the commodity. He uses bottles and pencils as an example to explain
commodities. According to Marx when embodied labor time is measurable, it makes
the creation of relative value possible. This only happen when the material existence
of things is put out of sight in the market, but the value itself become an abstraction.
The term use value, displays the use of wearing a coat that can keep a person warm.

The labor is measured by the amount of time employee spend working. When the
employer tries to impose the norm this is when the disciplining of bodies comes to
place. Marx argument of the relationships between things are only possible through
the relationships between human beings, which means that capitalist mode of
production can only make it look like it s the other way around, with the
relationships between things can also makes the relationship between people
possible. What Marx was trying to do was to emphasize the reversal and the
existing of reality in human. In The Estranged Labor the worker becomes alienated
in the aspects and the Servitude of power. He explained, that when the worker
becomes a servant of an object rather than being the object of a secondary to the
worker s needs, meaning that the poorer they are the more riches they produce.
The labor that is under free enterprise is basically use to continue the system in
which a worker is supposed to serve and products labor. The more the worker
works, the more they are denied the abilities of life. Many workers end up working
in order to get objects, rather than getting substance and by doing so they end up

What Is The Main Argument Of The Sea Wolf
The main argument of the book The Sea Wolf is about opposing behaviors of
human being depicted by the role of nature in revealing the inner self of a person.
In this regard, London uses two of his main characters to demonstrate the distinct
opposing sides of human beings. The first part is about Humphrey, who is a young
Dutch struggling with his demons and difficulties in the sea as he hope to change
his life and those of fellow crews . Humphrey is initially weak, rich and naГЇve, and
with straight morals . Humphrey believes on fairness, compassion, and all through
the story despite being close to the evil Larsen he refuses to follow his footsteps .
Also, Jack London reveals the other opposite character of the human being through
Wolf Larsen who rescues Van Weyden. Larsen is a murderer sea captain who is
uncaring, evil and threatens his crew with cruelty despite their several trials to
revolt against him. However, in the end, Larsen becomes ill and crashes on an
island after his brother attacks him . The London s argument is strong and a reality
of what comprises human being. People have different characters, and these
characters emerge through interactions, and tribulations that one faces in life. Also,
it is true that nature defines one s character as one can end up being either corrupt
or good as one struggles to overcome the harshness of life . Question Two The life in
the ship is harsh and full of struggles which represent the typical life experience of
human being.
Pros And Cons Of World Bank

World Bank is a private institution which provide development assistance as the world

countries and its client countries to develop by investing in human resources,
particularly through basic education and health, infrastructure, environment

One good point of World Bank is it supports economic growth in developing

Differences in Geometry Essay
Differences in Geometry
Geometry is the branch of mathematics that deals with the properties of space.
Geometry is classified between two separate branches, Euclidean and Non Euclidean
Geometry. Being based off different postulates, theorems, and proofs, Euclidean
Geometry deals mostly with two dimensional figures, while Demonstrative, Analytic,
Descriptive, Conic, Spherical, Hyperbolic, are Non Euclidean, dealing with figures
containing more than two dimensions. The main difference between Euclidean, and
Non Euclidean Geometry is the assumption of how many lines are parallel to another.
In Euclidean Geometry it is stated that there is one unique parallel line to a point not
on that line.
Euclidean Geometry has been around for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Spherical Geometry is also the most commonly used Non Euclidean geometry,
being used by astronomers, pilots, and ship captains. In Euclidean geometry it is
stated that the sum of the angles in a triangle are equal to 180 #61616;. As for
Spherical geometry it is stated that the sum of the angles in a triangle are always
greater than 180 #61616;. When most people try and visualize a triangle containing
angle sums greater than 180 #61616; they say it s impossible. They re right, in
Euclidean geometry it is impossible, but as for Spherical geometry, it is possible.
Think of the triangle on a sphere, and then try and visualize it. See Appendix 1 1.
When thinking of the Non Euclidean Spherical Geometry, we start of with a basic
sphere. A sphere is a set of points in three dimensional space equidistant from a point
called the center of the sphere. The distance from the center to the points on the
sphere is called the radius. See Appendix 1 2 to visualize tangents, lines, and centers
between the sphere, lines, and planes.
Unlike standard Euclidean Geometry, in Spherical Geometry, radians are used to
replace degree measures. It is usual for most people to measure angles and such
with degrees, as for scientists, engineers, and mathematicians, radians are used to
substitute degree measures. The size of a radian is determined by the requirement
that there are 2pi radians in a circle. Thus 2pi radians equals 360 degrees. This
means that 1 radian =

the unusual realization of his injuries, his resulting hospitalization and later
recovery. He further describes the dreariness of a post war career, in a series of
occasions which include disbandment in Wales through Kimmel park, his arrival
back to Canada, and finally his return to noncombatant life which was most awaited,
but yet turned to be strange, fast and emotional. In addition to letters and pictures to

history throughout the past forty years. Many individuals have made efforts; which
have gone to further impress the majority of the local soldiers who have served in

Dow Chemical Company HW
Dow Chemical Accounting Homework
Dow Chemical Company is a manufacturer and supplier of products used primarily as
raw materials in the manufacture of customer products and services. Its product lines
include chemicals, advanced materials, agro sciences and plastics businesses.
Attached are the excerpts from Dow Chemical s Annual report for 2012. Based on the
information in the financial statements and footnotes, please, answer the questions
below. Assume a tax rate of 35%.
1. Which cost flow assumptions does Dow Chemical use to value its inventories?
Inventories are stated at the lower of cost or market. The method of determining cost
for each subsidiary varies among LIFO, FIFO, and average cost.
What is the value of inventories that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
LIFO liquidation may be due to company not purchasing any more inventory (the
prices are too high), and depleting its cheap inventory. When inventory costs are
increasing, this results in higher net income. Either involuntary (disruptions in
supply) or voluntary (earnings management).
5. Suppose that Dow Chemical has no inventory left at the end of NEXT year (i.e.,
fiscal year 2013). Would Retained earnings at the end of fiscal year 2013 under their
existing accounting policy for inventories be higher than, lower than, or the same as
what it would have been had they used FIFO as a cost flow assumption for all of
their inventories? If different, by how much? Explain.
Same as RE if they used FIFO. Since there will be nothing left in inventory after the
year, Dow Chemical would be using same inventory (and therefore the same
inventory price for COGS) in both scenarios.
Also b/c LIFO Reserve = Cum. pre tax income FIFO Cum. pre tax income LIFO = 0
= Cum. pre tax income FIFO = Cum. pre tax income LIFO
How would your answer to above change if purchase prices for Dow Chemical s
inventories are expected to increase by approximately 50% in fiscal year 2013?
Would not change. The answer to this question is driven by the LIFO reserve in
2013, and, by definition, that stays the same, at 0, regardless of how much inventory
is purchased in 2013.
6. International Financial Reporting Standards do not permit the use of LIFO as a
cost flow assumption for inventory

If you are going to build something in the air it is always better to build castles than
houses of cards. (Lichtenberg). Castles are meant to hold up in defensive times to
protect the people and country. Why should we strive, with cynic frown, to knock
their fairy castles down? (Cook). At first, castles were built for military and
government means. As centuries went on, hostilities subsided, and wealth started to

Who Attended The Service As Part Of Their Lifestyle
To experience a new religion is eye opening to me and was very interesting to visit
and collaborate with people who attended the service as part of their lifestyle. First
of all, I am Native American and I see that my Navajo traditions and worshiping

camps which has gotten me to see that it was the only right way of worshiping and
seeing other religions idolizing other physical pagans which I saw this as wrong.
However, this course was a way to be openminded about other cultures besides my
own christian background. As this course concludes, I fine myself seeing the core
roots set back in centuries of all religion of having similar foundations in all aspects
of their history.
As I heard that my dad had connections to a friend, Gordon, who was a Jew and was
more than willing to take me along and experience this new form of worshipping, I
began to have thoughts of their religious people. Their history is unique in many
ways of expressing their dedication in extreme forms of chanting of the Torah. A Jew
would have the consciousness so fixed on studying the Torah, they would have a
constant study of His wisdom, God. When, however, they understood Torah study to
be a ritual act that encompasses more than the logical activities involved.

The Effects Of Listening On Different Types Of Music
Title:
Effects of listening to different types of music one week prior to midterm exam on
student s result in a randomized classroom clinical trial
Introduction:
Dating back to 1973 was one of the earliest studies done on music and memory. The
study done by Mowsesian and Heyer involves 15 year old students listening to music
while taking their exam. The researchers found out that music does not have a huge
impact on student s performance (Hallam, Price, Katsarou, 2002). In contrast, there
is also one study done by Fogelson in 1973 which stated there are positive effect of
music while studying on children s exam performance (Bloor, 2009). Therefore,
Hallam suggested that early studies are done poorly and not set up in a practical
framework, this is why the results of the studies produced are not consistent (Hallam,
Price, Katsarou, 2002).
However, there are also several studies in the 20 s century that shown music actually
does improve information retention. One of the studies done involves 13 students
from third grade which are required to study on a vibroacoustic music chair for 23
minutes three times a week for 23 weeks. Before the study starts, student are tested
on their reading and word recognition ability, another similar test is also done
towards the end of the study and the pre and posttest results are being compared. As a
result, the use of vibroacoustic music chair has a positive impact on the student s

Analysis Of The Book St. Lucy s Home For Girls Raised...
Kanye West said it best, Everybody knows I m a M*f**ing monster and honestly, as
humans we are.
In Seven Monster Theses, Jeffery Cohen develops an idea that monsters are essential
to society. In fact, they construct what is normal , rational , and civilized .
Specifically, monsters are foundational to how we view ourselves. Monsters contain
all the traits deemed unacceptable and odd. It can be concluded that every outlier is a
monster . In St. Lucy s Home for Girls Raised by Wolves, Karen Russell tells the
story of a pack of wolf girls who are transitioning into young ladies. Russell delves
into society s need for conformity, gender roles, and change. The story is told from
the point of view of the middle wolf girl, Claudette, and follows her on her journey
from wolf to woman. In relation to Jeffery Cohen s idea of monster culture,
Claudette s journey applies to Thesis IV The Monster Dwells at the Gates of
Difference and part of Thesis I The Monster s Body is a Cultural Body . Claudette is
torn between two worlds and she has to learn how to successfully move between the
two cultures . Through Cohen s theses, Karen Russell uses character development
and dialogue to depict the inner and outer battle of societal femininity and
individualized femininity and the consequence of accepting either side. The presence
of monsters are essential for this acceptance.
To build the gate of difference , Russell makes Claudette resistant to the culture
change. This

cells in contrary to the mutagenicity of cyclophosphamide (CP). Male Balb/C mice
were pre and post treated orally with aqueous extract of Habak at variable
concentrations (250, 500 and 1000 mg/kg b.wt) for 24h and 48h respectively. Mice
were injected intraperitoneally with CP for 24h pre and post treatment with Habak.
Assessment of cell viability of animals treated with Habak aqueous extract and/or CP
was performed using trypan blue exclusion assay. Investigating the protective effects
of pre and post treatments with Habak aqueous extract on genotoxicity of CP were
evaluated with chromosomeaberrations and DNAdamage using the comet assay. Cell
viability of mice bone marrow cells was activated with the low and medium
concentrations of Habak, however, the highest concentrationinduced cytotoxicity
significantly. When animals treated with Habak prior to CP, the chromosome
aberrations were reserved highly significant in comparison with animals injected
with CP. Also, Habak reduced the chromosome abnormalities induced by CP when
mice pre treated with CP. The efficacy of Habak was recorded when it reduced
DNA damage induced by pre and post treatment with CP as assessed with percentage
of DNA damage, tail length and tail moment ratio. In conclusion, the whole aqueous
extract of Habak has the ability to reduce the
Hiv Crisis
ABSTRACT
People who discover that they are HIV Positive are likely to be at higher risk for
experiencing a personal crisis. The crisis onset begins the moment the results are in
and it is determined that the person is HIV Positive. The flood of sudden emotions
caused by the traumatic event contributes to the beginning of a personal crisis.
Becoming identified as a person living with HIV can also lead to further issues it is
believed that people with HIV experience three types of crisis states. The first
crisis state is a situational crisis involving the initial reaction to being diagnosed
with HIV. Secondly, the developmental crisis in which a person is forced to face
the possibility of being ill and death. The last crisis stage is a social crisis
involving discrimination, isolation, and stigmas. These social crisis issues can lead
to feelings of loneliness, despair, and even lead to suicide. It is important as a Human

lives of people that are living with HIV and AIDS. When using crisis intervention in
the Human Services profession it can help people in so many ways to feel safe, gain
acceptance, and grow. Crisis intervention can help those living with HIV by

Time Cover Analysis
Time cover has a symbolic design. The word Time rests on top of the page
centered like normal, while tiny words Al Qaeda: The Next Generation sit beneath
it. Below those words, a stack of matches stand upright with the face of the leader of
Al Qaeda Osama Bin Laden plastered on all the match heads. A bright red border
surrounds the cover art. To appeal to their audience, Time uses certain methods. Time
places matches on the cover, to appeal to an international audience through
symbolism. Matches start fires. Not only this, but matches can spread fires, as
matches ignite when coming into contact with flames. Either way, matches lead to
fire, which literally and figuratively correlates to violence, danger, and destruction .
Time uses this symbolism to show how they perceive Al Qaeda s behavior, which
impacts the people who read their magazine, national and international individuals
(cite). Using the picture, people will see a connection between matches and Al Qaeda
and have an image in their heads of not only what Al Qaeda s true intentions are, but
also how dangerous they can become. With this in mind, they will purchase the

what emotions are being displayed. This technique is great because it automatically

Margaret Atwood Rape Fantasies
From phrases boys will be boys to she was asking for it society creates a blase
approach to the topic of rape and makes people feel ashamed and inadequate when it
does happen. These phrases perpetuate rape culture and makes it possible for this
crime rate to remain high. In 1977, Margaret Atwood published RapeFantasies in
Dancing Girls, a collection of short stories. Atwood spins a story revolving around
one woman, Estelle, and her coworkers. The co workers tell their fantasies about
rape when in actuality it s only anonymous sex and Estelle calls them out on this. She
then tells her fantasies which are about her thwarting the rapist. Rape Fantasies
creates a reverse in the definition and stereotype of a victim. Atwood makes the...

Estelle, the narrator, contradicts her colleagues by telling them their fantasies are
too safe and sexual to be actual rape fantasies, but her fantasies were a different
kind of safe. They gave Estelle the power and allowed for her to be in control of
the situations. The rapists were very accommodating in that. In her first fantasy,
Estelle thwarts the rapist by using a plastic lemon, but the rapist helps thwart
himself. So I hand it to him and he s very obliging, he twists the top off and hands
it back to me, and I squirt him in the eye (Atwood 105). The rapist is too obliging
in this scenario which shows Estelle s naivety and innocence. Truly, Estelle s
rapists are as unrealistically obliging and polite as her coworkers rapists were
romantically accommodating (Walter). This is done because she does not was to
admit what she fears. Her own mother gave the advice that one shouldn t dwell on
unpleasant things (Atwood 108). Estelle takes this too seriously and in doing so
she makes her fantasies too safe in fear that she won t admit she has. Estelle may
not want to admit it, but she humanized her rapists, so that she does not live in
terror (Walter). The rapists humanization is humorous and this is also a coping
mechanism for Estelle. When describing her boss, Estelle says I m sure he couldn t
rape his way out of a paper bag, poor old thing (Atwood 110).
Apartheid In Master Harold. And The Boys By Athol
Fugard
In the play Master Harold ..and the boys by Athol Fugard, Hally displays the
attitude of most white males in South Africa during the 1950 s. During this time,
the national party gained power and they established the apartheid system.
Apartheid is a system of policies that enforced racial segregation upon non white
South africans. Early in the book, Fugard clearly shows the father and son
relationship between Sam and Hally, because Hally s real dad was not around.
Hally s real father represents the apartheid system and he believes that white people
should use the power to control non white people. Fugard shows how the apartheid
system of white privilege and power along with Hally s powerlessness with his father

Hally feels powerless around his real father because he represents the oppression
of the apartheid system. Hally s biological father is an alcoholic, racist, controlling
and power hungry white man, which is why he was not in Hally s life. In fact,
Hally s real father got so drunk at a bar that Sam ... loaded him onto [his] back like
a baby and carried him , while Hally was watching (58). This shows that Hally s
biological father is an unfit parent. Hally is ashamed and embarrassed of his father
and he feels powerless around him. Yet, Hally is afraid to tell his father the truth
regarding how he feels about him as well as his beliefs. Hally s father was not
present in most of Hally s childhood because he is an alcoholic, therefore they never
had a strong relationship. In addition, Hally s father believes that white people are
superior and he is disrespectful toward non white South Africans. For instance,
Hally tells Sam that his father is always telling Hally to ...teach the boys to show
[him] more respect . Hally is scared to stand up to his father and instead of telling
him how he truly feels about taking advantage of his white privileges, he keeps
quiet. In conclusion, Hally feels powerless when his real dad is in the picture
because he represents discrimination and the apartheid system. As the play
progresses and Hally realizes his father may be coming home, Hally starts to
disrespect Sam and

Vulnerability to Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Terrorism
Introduction
A key issue in Homeland Security and Emergency Management today is the country
s vulnerability to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) terrorism.
The increasing proliferation of CBRN weapons all over the world is a primary
security challenge due to their indiscriminate and destructive nature. CBRN weapons
inflict physical damage, provoke panic, and result in societal, as well as economic
disruption. As such, this form of terrorism is a major source of concern for
emergency response organizations and departments in the United States. Despite the
relatively low rates of utilization by state and non state actors today, the risk posed
by CBRN weapons is too high for security organs to simply ignore. A principal
incentive for CBRN terrorism across the world is its ability to disrupt entire state
sectors and cause widespread contamination. As a result, it is important to study a
nation s vulnerability to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN)
terrorism.
Research Question
1.What is the relationship between the rate of proliferation of CBRN weapons and
the country s vulnerability to CBRN terrorism?
Research Hypotheses
1.The rate of proliferation of CBRN weapons has a direct impact on the country s
vulnerability to CBRN terrorism.
2.There is a correlation between the nature of terrorist groups and a country s level of
vulnerability to CBRN
Comparison Of Sonnets And CollinsSonnet Vs. Collins
Sonnets are known for having a rigid format and being the hoard of poets flowery
love confessions and tormenting heartache. While most poets generally stick to that
cliche topic of love and the traditional English or Petrarchan structures, sonnets are
not defined by these common features. Both Shakespeare s My mistress eyes are...
and Collins s Sonnetsatirically poke at typical sonnets, however, Shakespeare follows
the standard English sonnet style while parodying the classic subject of love to show
how ridiculous and idealistic love sonnets can be. On the other hand, Collins breaks
free from those stern sonnet rules to joke about the strictness of sonnet structures
while defining typical sonnet rules.
Shakespeare follows the English style of sonnets, while Collins partially follows the
Petrarchan style. Both sonnets include fourteen lines, a defining feature of the sonnet
form. My mistress eyes are... consists of three quatrains that describes his argument
on love cliches, and ends with a couplet, the turning point of English sonnets. The
sonnet consists of ten syllables each line, following the rhythm of the iambic
pentameter rule. Shakespeare s sonnet follows the usual rhyme scheme of an English
sonnet: abab cdcd efef gg. Collins attempts to stray from the general sonnet principles
in contrast with Shakespeare. Sonnet loosely follows the Petrarchan style, as the lines
are grouped into one octave and one sestet in structure. Collins s Sonnet does not have
a rhyme scheme, nor does the poem follow iambic pentameter. His sonnet does,
however, present his turn in line 9, the beginning of the sestet. Collins begins poking
fun at English sonnets in the octave, but then turns to joke at Petrarchan forms. Both
sonnets have a lighthearted, humorous tone and parody classic styles of sonnets in
different ways.
Shakespeare expresses his love for his mistress through metaphors, typical of sonnets
about love. However, those comparisons describe his poor mistress in unpleasant
ways, in distinct to typical love sonnets. Poets usually describe the beauty of their
lover through embellished comparisons and through the usage of romantic language.
Shakespeare pokes fun at the fact that these comparisons are too
Statement Of Purpose For A Robot
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Motion Engaged , as it displayed, the robot turned around and moved towards the
fourteen year old, whose fathomless curiosity waited for answers to a thousand
questions regarding the mysterious object. Just one thought kept coming back to me
which one of them was a miracle, the components that made the robot alive, or the
man who knew exactly what to do with them. Both, I finally concluded. If god has
blessed us with semiconductors, it is man, who in his conquest for progress has
discovered in these materials the means of putting his dreams to shape.
My interest in VLSI is deep rooted. Even before I began studying it as a Science I
remember reading about the gadgets in magazines. From the invention of the first

It was the time to water the seeds of VLSI that were sown earlier. In 2010, I
completed my schooling from Ahlcon International School, Delhi. This marked the
culmination of a 12 year period of brilliant schooling and I must admit that much of
what I have gone on to do and achieve is the result of those years. In August 2011, I
enrolled for a 4 year Bachelor s Program at Jaypee Institute of Information
Technology, Noida and opted for Electronicsand Communication as my Major. I
have spent the past few years in an atmosphere of proactive and vibrant academics.
Amidst students drawn from every corner of India and a faculty of highly
qualified and widely travelled mentors, I have flowered. I remember my teacher,
Professor Satyendra Kumar, walk into the first class of Basic Electronic Devices
and Circuits and write on the board The Next Big Thing Is Really Small. And I

The Imperfection Of Humans
When we look forward and anticipate the future through the means of science fiction,
it seems that contributing largely to our contemporary definition of human is our
imperfections. The very fact that we posses these imperfections is the reason that
writers imagine a future where those imperfections may be eliminated; knowing that
there is room for improvement drives humancuriosity and ingenuity forward. So
now we imagine a future where humans are perfect, ageless, precise. Would these
things really still be human or closer to real life cyborgs? Maybe this question is
too ethical, lacking in empirical evidence to give a non angled answer. But for
myself, what makes a human different from a machine is that we are not built off of
automatic judgments, we are not ageless, and we all carry collective, as well as our
own individual imperfections. For it is these imperfections that remind us that we
were not constructed in factories, but are rather shaped by our biology and given
environments. As humans, we do in fact posses many automatic functions, many of
which are linked to the autonomic nervous system which controls and regulates
bodily functions such as our heartbeats, blood circulation, and breathing patterns. As
Descartes puts it, Our own bodies can move without the guidance of volition. So in
this sense, the human body has a mechanical side to it, but when it comes to our
reasoning of the world, being creative, and solving problems, these are functions that
are not

Botulinum Toxin and Its Effect on Neurotransmitter Release
Botulinum Toxin and its Effect on Neurotransmitter Release.
Abbreviated to BoNT, there are seven serotypes of botulinum neurotoxin, denoted
BoNT A through to BoNT G, all of which are released by strains of the Clostridium
botulinum; an anaerobic, rod shaped, gram positive bacterium which is usually
prevalent in soils and is capable of forming endospores, (Samul et al., 2013). These
endospores can survive high temperatures, (Sobel, 2005), explaining how the major
route of infection occurs. The endospores can contaminate food production, surviving
the high cooking temperatures, and end up in jarred and tinned food. After
germination, the endospore releases its neurotoxins which are consumed and lead to
a potentially fatal disease known as botulism. Thanks to food production regulations,
these cases are rare in the UK, however there was a case in Scotland in 2011, where
three children acquired botulism after eating a jarred sauce, (Browning et al., 2011).
Most cases of food borne botulism are from home made food, where industrial
regulations aren t followed during canning or jarring , (McLauchlin et al., 2006).
Other forms of the disease include infant, intestinal and wound botulism. Infant
botulism occurs in children usually under the age of one, most commonly due to the
consumption of honey, which can contain the Clostridium botulinum spores. The
spores germinate and release neurotoxins inside of the digestive tract. Intestinal
botulism is very similar but occurs in
Richard Wright s Black Boy
Richard Wright, in his memoir, Black Boy, tells of the consequences and challenges
he faced in growing up in the early 20th century South. He narrates the story of his
difficult childhood, riddled with violence, prejudice, and hunger, both mental and
physical. Throughout his autobiography, Wright discusses his difficulties being
raised in a bigoted, ignorant world; he writes of his journey to reach manhood. He
uses reading and writing to take on the helplessness and isolation he faces as a result
of attempting to survive in a racist, oppressive society. Over the course of the
memoir, Wright learns that attempting to enact change through literature is the only
way he can live through the darkness because of the inefficacy of community
interaction.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During his introduction to the John Reed Club, Richard reflects on his desire for
community and how it had impeded him in his past search for a medium to enact
change. He writes, My life as a Negro in America had led me to feel...that the problem
of human unity was more important than bread, more important than physical living
itself; for I felt that without a common bond uniting men, without a continuous
current of shared thought and feeling circulating through the social system...there
could be no living worthy of being called human (318). By saying that community
is more important than bread , Wright emphasizes how natural it was for him to
have desperately searched for brotherhood. This driving force in Richard s life made
him ignore the helplessness and isolation he felt as a result of the rejection of his
literature. After publishing one of his first stories in a black newspaper, Richard
experiences a great amount of pride in his work, enthusiastic about his writing
process. He writes, after listening to his classmates negative comments

other fires burning, the BLM District started setting priorities for initial attack.
Highest priority assigned to fires threatening lives, residences, structures, utilities,
and to fires with the greatest potential for spread. The South Canyon fire did not
make the priority list. The South Canyon fire started on a high point on Hell s
Gate Ridge at the base of Storm King Mountain paralleled by two canyons or deep
drainages on the east and west sides. On July 3rd around noon the fire burned
downhill and had only covered about 3 acres, burning mostly cured grass, twigs,
and small shrubs. It continued to burn throughout the day and by midnight had
reached upwards to burning 11 acres. July 5th the fire had burned 50 acres and on
the 6th had reached 127 acres. Officials said the fire was steady until winds of
speeds between 30 45 mph picked up mid afternoon on the 6th. Winds were
blowing the fire over the ridges, upslope, and in the drainage. The winds gave the
fire a blow torch affect and caused it to spread rapidly everywhere. Studies say that
with the fire having practically unlimited fuel it was spreading at 3 feet per second
in the drainage areas, and moving upslope at 6 to 9 feet per

In Pleasantville, everything is in black and white and nothing ever changes. It is always bright sunny skies with a high of seventy two and low of seventy two degrees. Everyday is exactly the same and everything is perfect in their eyes. There is never any fighting in this town and the only thing the fire department ever does is save cats from trees. The wives do everything for their husbands, like doing all the cooking and cleaning. The children always obey their parents and never fight with their siblings. All the men go to work at exactly the same time everyday and expect dinner on their tables as soon as they get home. At the town s high school, the basketball team has never missed a single basket in a game and they have never lost a game. Every single thing in Pleasantvilleis perfect without a single complaint. One day, twins David and Jennifer are sent into Pleasantville by a crazy old man and almost instantly things start to change. As soon as they get to school, Jennifer asks the teacher what is outside of Pleasantville and everyone looked back at her like she was absolutely insane. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Find a specific niche to target on your college campus, focus on it, and do it well. A broad travel or comedy channel has been done to death, and the competition is too strong. Instead, try creating and marketing your channel to your classmates, faculty, and alumni. Of course, the more ridiculous, hilarious, and entertaining your channel is, the better. Spend a few hours goofing off with friends and making your videos, spread the word, and as views go up, your bank account will as well. 3. Silk was and is prized as a luxury textile and a symbol of wealth; Silk s bright luster and soft touch are the main reasons it was a favored clothing material among the nobles of Europe and Asia. The silk industry, sericulture, has gained Chinamajor trading opportunities, bringing the country much wealth and fame. Eventually, silk became something common: various classes were able to wear silk clothing and it came into more general use. Silk was used for everyday items such as fishing lines, bowstrings, and rag paper. In the Han dynasty, farmers sometimes paid a portion of their taxes in silk. Silk was also used for paying civil servants and rewarding outstanding subjects. Values were calculated in lengths of silk and it was used as money used in foreign trade. It was possible this added importance was the result of a major increase in silk production. The silk road was an ancient network of trade routes that stretched from China to Eastern Europe. The silk road was important because it allowed trade to flourish in several different kingdoms, allowing ideas, culture, inventions, and unique products to spread ( Legend of Silk ). • 6. Similarities Between Scarface And Scarface Introduction How are the two movies different from each other? Is it the era, the theme of or its execution? In retrospective, both will surely have difference, especially since the two are created with different aims. If one is to analyze the films, one will find a grey area between its differences, wherein differences are both superficial and minor at best. Scarface is a crime drama film that is famously known for being one of the most violent and profanes films during its time of release. Focusing on the rise of Tony Montana (Al Pacino) on the criminal ladder and becoming more psychotic as his career as the leader of his drug empire progresses, leading to his eventual downfall. Directed by Brian de Palma, written by Oliver Stone and with performance of the cast with the lead Al Pacino, Scarface became a cult classic among the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both films are distinct in its execution. The Godfather s portrayal is a more subdued one, Brando s speeches and philosophizing gives a more intellectual approach. Life in the mafia is hard, but is not fully shown. It is layered behind the walls of character development and dialogue, while they are eating together for dinner and sharing insults about their mothers, the next scene will show the group getting ready for a hit. Politically, The Godfather has no strong indication of getting associated with politicians, though there are suggestions, they are not enough to be fully fleshed out. Scarface, on the other hand, is a steady but surely approach. Rough neighbourhood with murdering Indians, underling takes crown from boss after confrontation, and the main character becoming more paranoid and delirious as he snuffs coke into his nose. Politics also play a rule in the mindset of our hero, Tony would gladly carve a hole on a communist, and he would get really angry when hearing Colombians are near
  • 7. Automobile Safety Essay People in developed countries all over the world have come to see automobiles as the preferred way to travel. They allow independence: point to point transportation without having to rely on others to get where we want to go, to do what we want to do. Long range travel and short range travel can be undertaken whenever one desires, either alone or with other people. Citizens of the modern world must often wonder how people ever lived without automobiles. To think that human beings once traveled everywhere by foot or on horseback is not just a humorous idea to reminisce; it is foreign concept that would not allow the social and business cultureof today to exist. It is almost as foreign a concept that early automobiles were driven ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Simple mistakes, that everyone makes, can lead to great harm. Even the most cautious and agile driver cannot avoid every possible stalled car, unexpected furniture, careless cell phone user, stray animal, unexpected construction, or drunken driver on the road. Automobiles are therefore a huge source of potential injury, and even death. In the year 2001 alone, 37, 795 people lost their lives in automobile accidents in the United States. That is more people than the populations of many small cities in America. In fact, that is over ten times more lives lost than were lost in the horrible attack on the World Trade Center in 2001! On top of that, over two million people were injured in automobile accidents in the same time frame.3 Neither of these numbers includes the thousands of pedestrians who are killed or injured every year by automobiles. Given the risks involved in the use of automobiles much consideration should be given to how to best make automobiles safer for humans. Often times, however, safety is not the first consideration in automobile design. Some automobile manufacturers do not even look carefully at safety considerations until a new product is sent down the crash test line and adjusted until it makes government safety requirements. On the other hand, some manufacturers start car design with safety as their first priority. What Does Automobile Safety Have to Offer? Safety systems inside an
  • 8. The Hurt Locker Character Analysis In 2008, director Kathryn Bigelow presented The Hurt Locker, a war drama focusing on an army bomb squad during the Iraq War. When Sergeant JT Sanborn loses one of his men from to an explosion, Sergeant First Class William James replaces the bomb defuser and joins Sanborn and Specialist Owen Eldridge. Due to Sanborn s heavy ego and James reckless methods, tensions rise and the men constantly quarrel until the three realize their similarities of being entrapped by war. The film explores the idea of soldiers as heroes and even questions the validity of this concept; various situations challenge James and his reactions do not always correspond with those of a clichГ© idol. Although James contradicts the idea of the typical hero, he ultimately exhibits... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bigelow operates this idea entirely; she begins by proving realistic heroes also benefit from their own actions. Past films display heroes actions as only benefiting the lives of citizens as a collective whole, but Bigelow does not believe in solely choosing between the happiness of the people and the happiness of the hero. Instead, James endeavors serve his country and himself personally. Additionally, Bigelow recognizes how heroes possess flaws and how this forms a connection between heroism and humanity. James demonstrates his faults through his humane reaction to a body bomb; instead of following common protocol and destroying the young boy s corpse, he keeps the carcass intact and ultimately ends of killing another soldier due to an explosion. This scene also validates how heroes must take risks that threaten the lives of others. Audiences already understand how a typical American hero can jeopardize his own life, but the modern American hero understands he cannot sacrifice himself alone; others might face risks as well. The scene in which James and his squad oppose military orders during their final mission also supports this characteristic. Because Bigelow portrays the character of James as a

Compare the effectiveness of the survey research to the other subordinate data, experimentation or observation in the perspective of gathering information for this project. The type of survey that the Remington Restaurant used was the self administered Internet survey. This kind of survey is probably the cheapest survey for the person collecting data. It involves minimum personnel and low cost as compared with other methods. Since 73% of American households are actively using the Internet, an Internet survey would be the best idea to cover a large location fact while conserving energy, money, and time (Cooper, Schindler, 2008). Internet survey s can also give one access to graphs, charts and percentages automatically. Also, the Internet survey will be able to give one an idea of the customer s attitude and perception of the Remington s Restaurant. By using secondary information one would be able to see general information such as, what the demographic is of the average family is in the area, what is the general income, and how many times the family eats at restaurant in a week. By shifting the focus off of the Remington s Restaurant and on to the genre of restaurants the Remington s Restaurant is associated with would dilute the information the Remington s Restaurant wanted to know about their customer s satisfaction with the Remington s Restaurant.

Similar data can be stored in multiple repositories within a single business; one example would be the inventory of items for sale. When considering data sources, it is important to understand if there is a recognized authoritative source for a specific type of data. In many enterprises, the data required for making business decisions is created by wide ranging applications, perhaps from separate lines of business (Theme 1). BI systems today have the capacity to work with numerous types of data such as numerical or non numerical data. The quality of this data is as important as any other data. The difference in the level of data quality is one of the many factors that may explain why some organizations are successful with their BI initiative while some are not so successful (Isik, O., Jones, M.C., Sidoroya, A. 2011). Throughout The Black Cat connotation appears quite a few times, one that I found interesting was when he had found a new cat, the cat had white fur around its neck, Poe states that the fur starts to turn into the form of the gallows which is what Poe had used to hang the old cat. These factors are the building blocks of economic freedom, where each individual holds an equal vote in the way the market works. Now having established the basis of economic freedom, Friedman goes on to explain how these principles can help to form political freedom in a nation. The main tool of a capitalist market to impose political freedom in a society is competition. Friedman states that if a few wealthy people are convinced of an idea, enough competition will be introduced to the market to make a difference. In history, this has proved true. The Marxist Labor Theory Of Value As with past articles in this series, this should not be taken as a refutation of each argument rather it should be read as my comments on each but in this case my thoughts are why they are wrong. Unlike with Anarcho Capitalists and Black Livers Matters I do not think communists and socialists (for the purpose of this article I will just use communismas a encompassing umbrella term) offer any positive to society and because of that should be actively refuted. 1. We need communism because without it workers will be exploited I consider the basis of this claim, the Marxist Labor Theory of Value, to be the economic equivalent to the flat earth theory. In essence this claim asserts that because value is objective and the worker creates X amount of value, say a five dollar widget, that because they were only paid four dollars the capitalist exploited a dollar of surplus value from them (this surplus value is the source of profit). This account fails because it is premised on a lie, that value is objective. In reality value is subjective and because of this reality surplus value is not possible. Profit does not come from extracting surplus value but rather it comes from delaying consumption, organizing production and taking risks. Lastly, as in any voluntary exchange, this is not a win lose exchange but rather it is a win win exchange. Both parties value what they give over what they get. In truth, there is exploitation but this exploitation goes both ways. 2. Super computers

As for Spherical geometry it is stated that the sum of the angles in a triangle are always greater than 180 #61616;. When most people try and visualize a triangle containing angle sums greater than 180 #61616; they say it s impossible. They re right, in Euclidean geometry it is impossible, but as for Spherical geometry, it is possible. Think of the triangle on a sphere, and then try and visualize it. See Appendix 1 1. When thinking of the Non Euclidean Spherical Geometry, we start of with a basic sphere. A sphere is a set of points in three dimensional space equidistant from a point called the center of the sphere. The distance from the center to the points on the sphere is called the radius. See Appendix 1 2 to visualize tangents, lines, and centers between the sphere, lines, and planes. Unlike standard Euclidean Geometry, in Spherical Geometry, radians are used to replace degree measures. It is usual for most people to measure angles and such with degrees, as for scientists, engineers, and mathematicians, radians are used to substitute degree measures. The size of a radian is determined by the requirement that there are 2pi radians in a circle. Thus 2pi radians equals 360 degrees. This means that 1 radian =

If different, by how much? Explain. Same as RE if they used FIFO. The Effects Of Listening On Different Types Of Music Title: Effects of listening to different types of music one week prior to midterm exam on student s result in a randomized classroom clinical trial Introduction: Dating back to 1973 was one of the earliest studies done on music and memory. The study done by Mowsesian and Heyer involves 15 year old students listening to music while taking their exam. The researchers found out that music does not have a huge impact on student s performance (Hallam, Price, Katsarou, 2002). In contrast, there is also one study done by Fogelson in 1973 which stated there are positive effect of music while studying on children s exam performance (Bloor, 2009). Therefore, Hallam suggested that early studies are done poorly and not set up in a practical framework, this is why the results of the studies produced are not consistent (Hallam, Price, Katsarou, 2002). However, there are also several studies in the 20 s century that shown music actually does improve information retention. One of the studies done involves 13 students from third grade which are required to study on a vibroacoustic music chair for 23 minutes three times a week for 23 weeks. Specifically, monsters are foundational to how we view ourselves. Monsters contain all the traits deemed unacceptable and odd. It can be concluded that every outlier is a monster . In St. Lucy s Home for Girls Raised by Wolves, Karen Russell tells the story of a pack of wolf girls who are transitioning into young ladies. Russell delves into society s need for conformity, gender roles, and change. The story is told from the point of view of the middle wolf girl, Claudette, and follows her on her journey from wolf to woman. In relation to Jeffery Cohen s idea of monster culture, Claudette s journey applies to Thesis IV The Monster Dwells at the Gates of Difference and part of Thesis I The Monster s Body is a Cultural Body . Claudette is torn between two worlds and she has to learn how to successfully move between the two cultures . Through Cohen s theses, Karen Russell uses character development and dialogue to depict the inner and outer battle of societal femininity and individualized femininity and the consequence of accepting either side. The presence of monsters are essential for this acceptance. To build the gate of difference , Russell makes Claudette resistant to the culture change. This

In her first fantasy, Estelle thwarts the rapist by using a plastic lemon, but the rapist helps thwart himself. While most poets generally stick to that cliche topic of love and the traditional English or Petrarchan structures, sonnets are not defined by these common features. Both Shakespeare s My mistress eyes are... and Collins s Sonnetsatirically poke at typical sonnets, however, Shakespeare follows the standard English sonnet style while parodying the classic subject of love to show how ridiculous and idealistic love sonnets can be. On the other hand, Collins breaks free from those stern sonnet rules to joke about the strictness of sonnet structures while defining typical sonnet rules. Shakespeare follows the English style of sonnets, while Collins partially follows the Petrarchan style. Both sonnets include fourteen lines, a defining feature of the sonnet form. My mistress eyes are... consists of three quatrains that describes his argument on love cliches, and ends with a couplet, the turning point of English sonnets. The sonnet consists of ten syllables each line, following the rhythm of the iambic pentameter rule. Shakespeare s sonnet follows the usual rhyme scheme of an English sonnet: abab cdcd efef gg. Collins attempts to stray from the general sonnet principles in contrast with Shakespeare. Sonnet loosely follows the Petrarchan style, as the lines are grouped into one octave and one sestet in structure. Collins s Sonnet does not have a rhyme scheme, nor does the poem follow iambic pentameter. His sonnet does, however, present his turn in line 9, the beginning of the sestet. Collins begins poking fun at English sonnets in the octave, but then turns to joke at Petrarchan forms. Both sonnets have a lighthearted, humorous tone and parody classic styles of sonnets in different ways. Shakespeare expresses his love for his mistress through metaphors, typical of sonnets about love. However, those comparisons describe his poor mistress in unpleasant ways, in distinct to typical love sonnets. Poets usually describe the beauty of their lover through embellished comparisons and through the usage of romantic language. Shakespeare pokes fun at the fact that these comparisons are too

The very fact that we posses these imperfections is the reason that writers imagine a future where those imperfections may be eliminated; knowing that there is room for improvement drives humancuriosity and ingenuity forward. So now we imagine a future where humans are perfect, ageless, precise. Would these things really still be human or closer to real life cyborgs? Maybe this question is too ethical, lacking in empirical evidence to give a non angled answer. But for myself, what makes a human different from a machine is that we are not built off of automatic judgments, we are not ageless, and we all carry collective, as well as our own individual imperfections. For it is these imperfections that remind us that we were not constructed in factories, but are rather shaped by our biology and given environments. Abbreviated to BoNT, there are seven serotypes of botulinum neurotoxin, denoted BoNT A through to BoNT G, all of which are released by strains of the Clostridium botulinum; an anaerobic, rod shaped, gram positive bacterium which is usually prevalent in soils and is capable of forming endospores, (Samul et al., 2013). These endospores can survive high temperatures, (Sobel, 2005), explaining how the major route of infection occurs. The endospores can contaminate food production, surviving the high cooking temperatures, and end up in jarred and tinned food. After germination, the endospore releases its neurotoxins which are consumed and lead to a potentially fatal disease known as botulism. Thanks to food production regulations, these cases are rare in the UK, however there was a case in Scotland in 2011, where three children acquired botulism after eating a jarred sauce, (Browning et al., 2011). Most cases of food borne botulism are from home made food, where industrial regulations aren t followed during canning or jarring , (McLauchlin et al., 2006). Other forms of the disease include infant, intestinal and wound botulism. Infant botulism occurs in children usually under the age of one, most commonly due to the consumption of honey, which can contain the Clostridium botulinum spores. The spores germinate and release neurotoxins inside of the digestive tract. Intestinal botulism is very similar but occurs in
