moderately correlated to winning games. When a stat is moderately correlated, that means it

Those feelings are what caused high poverty rates, the formation of gangs, and the high level of
violence into Homewood, Pennsylvania.
John and Robert always dreamed about running away from the poverty embracing their
community. Even though they shared the same dream, each considered different means of
achieving this dream. John realized at an early age that education was his was out of poverty in
Pittsburgh. In his book Brothers and Keepers, John explains how he was running away from
Pittsburgh because of the poverty. He explained that the only logical way to get out of these
unbearable conditions were to go to college.
For many African Americans growing up in the 1960 s college was not an option. The only thing
that was option for African Americans, were to get a job to support their family. Most of the
African American communities did not have enough money to send their child to college. John

While attending school John did not only get good grades, he played basketball. The people in the
African American culture in the 1960 s believed that the only way for a black person to get into

Reflection On Human-Animal Therapy
This section is a little difficult for me because at the moment I do not have the animal that I am
going to be doing AAT C with so I really do not know what I will be able to do in the future as far
as techniques and interventions. What you can do with a dog is not what you can necessarily do
with a rabbit or a cat. However, at the end of the day human animal interaction is the main
intervention I will be using throughout my sessions. As all the readings mentioned, the animal can
touch and offer our clients affection, comfort that we, as humans, must be careful of offering at all.
The interventions can be as simple as the animal being next to my client, to them petting them or
my client actively grooming my animal. I can also be more directive and build time into our
sessions where the client does tricks with the animal, play with them, or we do activities such as
going on walks.
When I was reading what Chandler (2017) shared in her book, I liked the idea of the metaphor
and story telling (p.213). As I stated earlier, one of the things I liked about AAT C was that it
said to share the animal s breed, their own personal history, and my history with the animal; so,
this just falls into that perfectly. I am learning about myself as a counselor that metaphors are
powerful to me and to be able to include my animal makes the connection go deeper, which goes
back to the social interest. The other aspect I like about story telling is if you focus it on the
animal, and not a person, it helps take the focus off them. The nonjudgmental piece plays a huge
role there because it s the animals story, not theirs or even my story. I liked that Chandler (2017)
states on pg. 201 that you are still using your basic relational techniques . These are the same skills
I learned in pre practicum and they are never not going to work no matter what I am doing. I think
people get so caught up in the new stuff that they forget that paraphrasing and reflections, etc. are
your foundations. They just now include your co counselor who happens to be furry and
comminutes to you in an unique way.

Distinguish between micro, mezzo and macro levels of practice and provide an example for
each. There are various differences between micro, mezzo and macro levels of practice. The micro
level consists of a one on one session with the social worker to strengthen the client s coping skills
and self esteem. The microis based on an individual level referring to the day to day setting
inhabited by the person and people they live with. It focuses on the individual or family. Examples
include finding housing for the individual, healthcare or substance abuse help. It expands as the
person grows. An example would be drawing a diagram with the individual or family being the
focus and everything outside of that circle would be affecting the familyor individual in several
ways. The focus is on the micro level because it pertains to either the individual or the family.
The mezzo level is about the individual s surrounding environment. It pertains to neighborhoods,

Becoming A First Generation College Student
I have always been my own motivator and it has not always been easy. Being a first generation
college student meant going it on my own, making mistakes and learning from them. At the start of
my college adventure I met Professor Michelle Field who introduced me to more than my love of
Anthropology, but looking back she is now my inspiration to want to teach Anthropology. This was
not something I knew coming into college, but some of the greatest things in life come together
when you least expect them, you just have to be flexible. Moving to Bellingham to finish my
undergraduate degree came at the most difficult time in my life only days after losing a parent, but
