Endoscopic interventions are effective for treating acute nonvariceal gastrointestinal bleeding (NVGIB), reducing mortality. New technologies allow treatment of lesions that were previously difficult to access or treat with standard modalities. These include over-the-scope clips, padlock clips, radiofrequency ablation, topical hemostatic agents, fully covered self-expanding metal stents, endoscopic suturing, Doppler probe ultrasound, and EUS-guided therapy. Studies show these new technologies achieve hemostasis in difficult cases and reduce rebleeding rates compared to conventional endoscopy.
