Essay about The Foundation of My Identity
Ronald Takaki, a frequent writer of cultural backgrounds, reminds us that, America does not belong
to one race or one group, the people in this study remind us, and Americans have been constantly
redefining their national identity from the moment of first contact on the Virginia shore. By sharing
their stories they invite us to see ourselves in a different mirror. Out of my fellow composition
students, at State University, I am the only one whose great great grandparentscame over to the
USA. Out of twenty students, including myself, I found a surprising number of five parents, eight
grandparents, and six great grandparents who immigrated to this wonderful country that we call
America. Until recently I never would have never thought of... Show more content on

I know that my great grandparents and my grandparents spent most of their lives in the wide open
country (Croswell, MI area). After asking a few family members I found that my grandma on my
mom s side is nearly all German, while my grandpa was nearly all polish. Their grandparents
came over here and settled in downtown Detroit. Later my grandparents built their own house in
Utica, MI. That is were my mom grew up and lived until my dad and mom built their first house
in Millington, MI over 27 years ago. Both of my grandpas were automotive shop workers almost
all of their life, which is the same as most of their kids, especially on my dad s side. The funny
thing is that the more generations that work at the factories, the higher the level and the more
income that that person has.. Rob Blauner reminds us in Talking Past Each Other that, Members of
an ethnic group hold a set of common memories that make them feel that their customs, culture,
and outlook are distinctive. My generation is the first to attend college to become whatever they
want, myself I m attending college to become a mechanical engineer and will probably coincide
with other shopworkers just as my family does did.
Millington is a very boring town, but our house had a rather nice setting. I spent my first 18 years
in the second house that they built, also in Millington, Mi. It was an enormous 5 bedroom 3700
sq. ft with 10 acres of rolling heavily wooded property. It also had a nice clean

Difference Between Aristotle And Montaigne
Aristotle and Montaigne are two different philosophers, Aristotle is ancient philosopher while
Montaigne is a modern philosopher. Aristotle believes friendship occurs between virtuous people
and the goal is to help one another reach their absolute best. Montaigne believes a friend is
another self resulting from a fusion of wills. The main focus of this paper is to assess Montaigne s
philosophy and Aristotle s philosophy on their view of loveand judge which view of love is more
convincing to a reasonable human being. Between Aristotle and Montaigne, Montaigne s view of
love is more convincing to a reasonable human being because friendshipis more complex and
complicated than categorizing friendship into different levels.
Aristotle s view of love is philia, while on the other hand Montaigne s view of love is pragma.
Philia is the deep comradely friendship about showing loyalty and pragma is the deep understanding
between two people. Montaigne strongly believes friendship should be an unconstrained product of
will, while Aristotle uses a rather categorical approach to friendship, utility, pleasure, and virtue. By
making strict delineations and then using examples, he establishes a rather strict definition of
friendship that is created along lines of social class. He argues, among other things, that friendship
must be between similarly virtuous men of equal standing. In addition, the purest form of
friendship, and the one that Aristotle considers the only genuine friendship,

Business Communication Is Different in Pakistan Compared...
Business Communication is different in Pakistan compared to western countries
Communication is any behaviour, verbal or nonverbal, that is perceived by another. (Dwyer 2006)
business communications are purposive interchanges of ideas, opinions, information, instructions
and the like, presented personally or impersonally by symbol or signal as to attain the goods of
organization. (Rosenblatt, Cheatham Watt 1992) Today, the organization is growing more complex
and the business is growing larger, because of this, the communication is necessary for passing
information between people working in the same organization, it provides the critical link between
core functions. As Robert Kent, former dean of Harvard Business School has said, In ... Show more

System policies greatly show the communication differences in it.
Take an example of university culture in both countries. FAST s students call their professors with
Sir/ Mam /Professor while University of Arkansas s students call their professors simply with their
last names. This was a simple example depicting difference in university culture and relation of
business communication with organization s culture and country s system.
пѓ Direction of communication in most of the organizations in Pakistan ( especially public sector)
is mostly downwards, the mechanism of feedback and innovation of new ideas is restricted to only
few organizations. While in USA the direction of communication is mostly both ways. For example
different surveys, feedback tests and reports are conducted in business organizations monthly
/annually.
пѓ In oral communication, both Pakistan and USA have informal rumours and one to one
discussions. But group discussions are more common and preferred in west.
пѓ Written communication has greatly been revolutionized by the advancement in technology
computerization. The public sector organizations in Pakistan are still working in old paper work
style, while some of the organizations have computerised there business environments for
communication. While western countries are far ahead in using technology for business

Christian Leaders Humility
According to your cited statement, Humility, at its core, is a spiritual process of being formed in
the image of God, indicate Bekker (nd., p. 3), and Lewis (2011, p. 127). You have made a great
point about humility as being the core of spiritual process. I also believe it is the core of
leadership behavior. I agree that there a need for Christian leaders to remain humble. I like to
add few of my insights to your great post. The Scripture, Mark 10:45 says, For even the Son of
Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many. A leader s
humility should be expressed through his followers strengths and needs. Leader humility is still
viewed as a rare personality trait that somewhat mysteriously

Advantages Of Agent Based Simulation
1.Introduction
Since the development of economics as a science, the majority of economists have used analytical
models to explain economics hugely based on mathematical principles. Starting from the basic
theorem of equilibrium which is very easily developed using mathematical principles only, to the
optimization techniques, which involves plain usage of derivatives and other mathematical
principles, these techniques lack to make a whole model with many unknowns in order to derive to
a complex set of results, in contrary to only one result working in certain assumptions that they
offer. Even though most of the theorems we use today in economics derive from analytical methods,
the need to make decisions or solve real economical issues nowadays ... Show more content on

Agent Based Modeling and Simulation
One could simply ask, why use ABM or ACE? As mentioned in the section above, there are several
reasons why using ABM has a sort of competitive advantages toward other analytical or statistical
based methods.
In ACE, the possibility to include a large number of agents in the model, all in distributed
corporation, provides creating of a large scale system in order to observe micro or macro
principles. This is quite hard and tedious to be accomplished even using econometric principles with
the help of software program, due to the problem of biased results and limitation on the dependent
variables. In the context of ACE, several experiments can be conducted with unlimited number of
agents involved in the system.
Secondly, ACE can be considered as a great software for any business who would like to make
decision making more strategic based, and furthermore, increase its competitive advantage in the
market, by simulation the same conditions of the actual current market, to a virtual world in a
simple software. Thereby usage of ACE is not restricted to only research based works, but can be
used as a competitive tool for any business as well. The traditional rules of forecasting or gaining
competence in a business do not provide such advanced possibility to forecast and

The Development And Maintenance Of Civilization Essay
Over the course of human history, order within society, through its many facets, has been
considered to be a vital part of the development and maintenance of civilization. One such aspect
of order, however, is arguably more important than all other characteristics: the creation and usage
of social constructs. A social construct is defined as a social mechanism, phenomenon, or category
created and developed by society, which aids in either the development or regression of society as
a whole. While more commonly known constructs such as race and gendershape the mindsets of
societies and civilizations as a whole over periods of time, the consequences of the existence of the
construct itself can have both a positive or negative affect. Additionally, many social constructs are
interconnected with each other, not exactly through topic matter but rather by the relationships and
connections they establish with aspects of society and its influence upon it. However, race and
gender are not the only constructs that shape mindsets and opinions, many lesser known ones also
affect changes within society. Such examples include the constructs of higher educationand gender
bias, two seemingly different aspects of society and ideals. However, although they do not
explicitly mention each other, Linda Lee and Anne Fausto Sterling establish a clear connection
between the two, especially in their dealings with societal development in their respective essays

A courier service is an organization which offers special deliveries of packages, money, documents
or information. Courier services usually boast faster delivery times than any alternative method of
transporting documents, and many services in the modern world rely on them. The idea of couriers
and a courier service has been around almost as long as civilization, with rulers in antiquity using
couriers as a means to make new laws and edicts known throughout their lands. In the modern age of

This is an excellent way for them to get their items delivered to their loved ones at home. Rather
than use slow mailing services, most tourists are now utilizing this type due to the reasons given
below. Basically, a courier is an agency that aids customers with their delivery packages, such as
money and documents, and provides a faster service. Those people who are always taking a tour
will be able to send postcards and even souvenirs back home no matter where they are. Tourists
also do not have to worry about payments since there are convenient ways to transfer money for
the service, such as automatic billing and online interfaces. More often than not, a courier
company also offers delivery guarantees, along with insurance on shipments and other perks,
making it an imperative part of every traveler s life. So, if you are a frequent holidaymaker, you
will enjoy great benefits from using this type of mailing service. You can be sure of secure
shipments and on time deliveries wherever you may be spending your vacation.
Easy and Convenient: What all you need to do in order to send a courier or parcel to any corner

the desired location, but also makes arrangements for packing, loading and unloading. Unlike the
typical postal service, you don t need to visit any office to book your shipment. Further, you can

One article covered by CTV news involved a female officer (Const. Heather McWilliam) who filed
a human rights complaint involving workplace sexual harassment against her Toronto police

women of the same rank who have to endure sexual harassmentin the workplace and who have both
chosen to speak out about their struggles. McWilliam was victim to constant sexual harassment
over many years and was called degrading names as well as had many sexual jokes made around

How Obama Broke The Law
Obama broke the law! Obama violated the law! These are the titles of some of the articles
published the week that Obama s administration paid $400 million to Iran. That payment to Iran
coincided with the release of some American hostages. Many republicans or people opposing to
Obama s decision claim it was a ransom. Since Iranhas been in the list of states sponsoring
terrorism, they also claim that Obama s administration is somehow a sponsor of terrorist activities
as well. In the other side, President Obama explained that this money is part of the deal they finally
concluded with Iran.
On the White House website, a 112 pages document called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action
(JCPOA) gives some detailed about the deal with Iran. It says that the deal:
Cuts off all Iran s pathway to nuclear weapon, including a covert pathway
Puts in place vigorous measures that are necessary to verify that Iran cannot pursue a weapon
Ensures sanction can be snapped back into place if Iran violated the deal
Now that we have an idea about the current status of Iran nuclear deal, let us go back a bit to
recapitulate about how the issue has arisen and why it was very concerning.
After the death of Ayatollah Khomeini in 1989, president Ali Rafsanjani came on power. One of his
goals was to ameliorate relation with Western powers. Then, in 1997, Iran elected President
President Muhammed Khatami. He was a reformist. Thanks to him and his efforts, relations with

a puzzle to be solved. Riddles are of two types: enigmas, which are problems generally expressed in
metaphorical or allegorical language that require ingenuity and careful thinking for their solution,
and conundra, which are questions relying for their effects on punning in either the question or the

Covert Drone Program And Targeting Killings
Years preceding the terrorist attack on the 11th of September 2001, the CIA and the United
States Air Force had already developed the facility to use aerial vehicles, piloted remotely, as
weapons. Yet, it was the occurrence of 9/11 that sparked the use of armed remote piloted aerial
vehicles (better known as drones) in the global War of Terror led by the United States. The purpose
of this position paper is to examine the legality of the covert armed drone program, specifically
in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) in Pakistan. It will consider the extent of
accuracy of the legal frameworks relative to the drone program and targeted killings. To do so,
exploring the context in which the United States justifies its actions and military strategies
regarding the Global War on Terror is important. This paper will be providing a review of,
amongst other references, two pieces of academic literature that discuss the presence of drone
warfare in Pakistan: Mark Mazzetti s The Way of the Knife: The CIA, A Secret Army, and a War
at the Ends of the Earth and David Sanger s Confront and Conceal: Obama s Secret Wars and
Surprising Use of American Power. They will be used as evidence to support the questionability of
the legal frameworks relative to the armed drone conflict.
In The Way of the Knife, Mark Mazzetti discusses the new methods adopted by the United States
military action, referring to a phrase used by John Brennan, the former chief of counter terrorism
advisor:

Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory Comparison
The movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, directed by Mel Stuart, and Charlie and the
Chocolate Factory, directed by Tim Burton, are both outstanding artwork that impressed the public.
In this essay, I will examine how the Burton achieved to convert the genre of the previous movie to
attract audiences from different centuries and examine how Berger s and Lethem s claims relate to
my observations.
Stuart s imagination of the chocolate factory was the first attempt to translate Dahl s book from
text into visual. Before the creation, there was no alike movie existed. Without any expectations
from viewers, they were amazed to this interpretation of the fantasy. When Burton reproduced the
movie, the one of a kind idea was refined. It was no longer a unique existence (Berger, 520).

mixture of something belonged to the past. The Oompa Loompas was introduced with green skin
and orange hair by Stuart. Burton exaggerated the character with an even more shocking
appearance. Lethem claimed that old and new make the warp and woof of every moment (686).

The Economic And Social Effects Of Globalization On Jamaica
Life and Debt is a documentary that examines the economic and social effects of globalization on
Jamaica. The movie mainly describes the affects of the International Monetary Fund and the World
Bank s structural adjustment programs. While these funds are created to help developing countries
become more developed, the documentary shows how the reforms were not successful in Jamaica

documentary depicts globalization as way in which countries are interconnected around the world

particularly focuses on the economic affects of globalization, by examining the affects of economic
liberalization and the internationalization of finance through organizations such as the International

countries such as Jamaica do not help them develop, but instead prevent them from advancing
economically and socially. The advancements that these loans have guaranteed have not occurred,

Analysis Of The Movie Silver Linings Playbook
A life interchanging from high to low, happy to sad, to the brink of exploding with euphoria to
the lowest low, is the life of a human living with Bipolar disorder. This roller coaster of emotions
is inevitable and almost unlikely to cure in terms of later onset. Living with any personality
disorder puts strain and hardship on your loved ones and is more then anyone would want to
deal with in their short lifetime. These disorders are more common than we know and the way
they are treated will determine the individual s psychological outcome. The movie Silver
Linings Playbook does a great job depicting a character with Bipolar disorder and the struggles
the main character Pat faces on a day to day basis through his road to recovery. Silver Linings
Playbook displays many types of psychological disorders that include Obsessive Compulsive
Disorder, Bipolar disorder, and a slight sexual disorder. Bradley Cooper does an exceptional job
playing the role of Pat Solitano, a bipolar patient who has just been released from a psychiatric
ward after almost killing another man for sleeping with his wife. He plans to relive his past and
thinks that nothing has changed since he has been gone, a common occurrence of a subject with
bipolar disorder. On his journey he is set up with the character Tiffany, played by Jennifer

Capitalism And Capitalism In Society
The value of money continues to decrease, but the need for this little yet powerful piece of paper
continues to skyrocket. Many people believe money magically illuminates complications and
solves problems. America has been a capitalist state for decades, so money may be considered
fundamental to our survival as Americans. This may be the case for many, but I disagree. I believe
capitalismis the base for social, political and economic inequality and the idea of capitalism
deceives us into thinking we as Americans cannot function without money. Capitalism creates
complications and conceive problems. In capitalism, many private owners control the means of
production, causing the government not to regulate their businesses. Thus, allowing exploitation
to occur. The U.S will continue to collapse as long as we are a capitalist society. This system
forces us to be greedy and greed forces us to be selfish individuals. Once an individual is selfish
they will continue to make decisions that have a negative impact on the lives of many. The upper
classowns the means of production. They control and support some of the most prestigious
institutions such as; prep schools, factories, social clubs and policy formation organization. Their
wealthhas been in the family for many generations (old money) and will take several lifetimes to

A Battle Of Endings By James Cameron
Sundiata Short Essay Andrew Davis Professor Benander Topics in Literature 4 November 2012 A
Battle of Endings It is widely believed that the ending makes the story. What would Titanic, the
movie by James Cameron, be without its ending? In the epics of Kirikou and Sundiata, we see two
distinctly different endings that would cause different responses from different audiences. The
Treatment of the villain is significant in the end because it brings into question the judgment of the
hero. Examining how others respond to the shadow is important because it allows people to
examine what they would do to treat the shadow who wronged others. A modern teenage Disney
audience would be more satisfied with the treatment Sundiata gave to his enemies, because
Sundiata tries his best to satisfy the people who were affected by the rule of the shadow. Sundiata s
treatment of the enemies should be established before getting into the argument. Sundiata just
wants the shadow out of the way of the goal of the conquering Mali, but he tries to please his
people, the maiden, in serving justice to the Shadow. Some may argue that Sundiata really wanted
to kill Soumaoro because of the treachery he brought upon Mali. However, Sundiata proves that
defeating Mali is more important than killing the shadow when the book by D.T. Niane of the
Longman African Writers states, Straight away the son of Sogolon sent some of them towards the

Essay on How Much Russia Changed from 1856-1894
How Much Russia Changed from 1856 1894
During the years of 1856 and 1894, Russia changed immensely in its policies and general state. It
went from being an ageing superpower into a country with internal problems and an ambience of
civilian unrest.
Alexander II realised the need to modernise Russia in order to prolong their status as a superpower.
This stemmed from their defeat in the Crimean war. To modernise and industrialise Russia, a free
workforce was needed and this could only be made available if people were freed from the land.
This meant that Alexander II would need to somehow release the serfs from their owner s land.
Another reason for emancipation was made clear in a quote from ... Show more content on

However, not all of Russia s problems were solved and indeed some of the reforms created new
problems. But generally, Russia changed a great deal during Alexander II s reign and the majority
of change was constructive.
Alexander III was faced with a number of dilemmas when he came to power. The assassination of
his father had a huge impact on him. He believed that all attempts at reform were futile and so
followed a policy of counter reform. His repressive measures became known as the Reaction .
Some examples include Russification, where national minority influence was limited and the Statue
of State Security, where judges, magistrates and officials sympathetic to liberal ideology were
removed. During Alexander III s reign, opposition grew tremendously. This was generally due to
Alexander III s repression, political stagnation and because if they did nothing, there would be no
alternative to autocracy.
In conclusion, Russia did not make a great deal of progress during Alexander III s reign.
Alexander III dealt with Russia s problems by using suppression. But this caused more opposition
to the tsar as it drove more support towards the violent revolutionary groups. In addition, some
historians have said that Alexander III s policy of suppression stopped Russia s progression and as
such, Russia regressed in terms of positive

(Cossel?s own teacher), the royal music director at Altona, who took him unwillingly at first, but
with whom he remained for a number of years.
When he was eleven years of age Johannes made his first appearance as a pianist [at a private
subscription concert in which his father also took part, given with the idea of collecting funds for
his future education. He played the piano parts in a Mozart Quartet and in Beethoven?s Quintet for
wind instruments and piano, with such success that a speculative impresario wished to engage him
for a concert tour that was to take him as far as America.
About the age of twelve he came entirely under the tuition of Marxsen, who, finding him
incorrigible in his desire to improve compositions at the piano, soon began to teach him theory.
But in order to be able to continue these lessons, it was imperative that he should earn at least
part of his keep at home, where funds were always distressingly low, thus before he was fourteen
he was obliged, for want of a more congenial occupation, to play the piano at sailor?s taverns and
dancing saloons, often very late at night and always in a far from healthy atmosphere.
On his return to Hamburg he ventured, on 21st September 1848, to give a concert on his own
account for the first

Donald Trump s Conspiracy Essay
Five years ago, who d have thought Donald Trump could become the most powerful person in the
world? Truth may be stranger than fiction, but if there s any lesson here, it s that too many people
prefer fiction to the truth. Conspiracy theories have gripped the public imagination to such an
extent that an armchair crank stands at the White House lawn.
Preening himself at the mirror of his nation s prejudices and delusions of grandeur, his policies of
extreme nationalism, and protectionism, are founded upon conspiracy and misinformation.
His self professed straight talking starts with a that s good or a that s bad , and then proceeds in a
linear stream of consciousness resulting in whatever course of action would make American great ...

Since that dГ©jГ vu moment, when her quavering falsetto echoed through the Senate chamber,

Mysteriously, the conspicuous failure of Asians to overrun us since her prediction 20 years ago,
hasn t dampened Hanson s confidence, or fatally wounded her credibility. Quite the opposite, in
fact. Why is this so?
An answer may be found in the Dunning Kruger effect: the curious phenomenon of confident idiots
emboldened by their own ignorance, rather than cautioned by it.
The 1999 Dunning Kruger study found those armed with low metacognitive skills grossly
overestimated their own competence in metacognitive tasks. Those with test scores in the 12th

Comparing The Gospel Of John
With the changing of tides shortly after Jesus ascension, the death of the all the disciples but John
and the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem, a new way of sharing the Gospel was needed. The
reason for this new means of communicating the Gospel was because no one was left who had
actually walked with Jesus. Therefore, John the disciple throws a rummage sale in writing his
account of Jesus; which was so much different than the other three Gospel writers. His purpose
was for people to know what it means to follow Jesus without him being physically present as he
was for the twelve. Specifically, John focuses on the personal conversations of Jesus and others
(Peterson 2); so much so that 90% of John s book is unique, contains no parables

I will be commenting on Madison Fox s presentation. Slide 3 4: I think slide three and four are
important as a future teacher, because we will be using educational standards to teach our
students. We will need to be able to understand what a standard is used for, so that we will be
able to effectively teach it. I also thought the resources on pg 236 were interesting because it
breaks down the standards for each subject. Slide 12: Slide twelve stood out to me because I am

math into real life situations because that gives the students a purpose for learning math, and it can
also spark their interest in math. I also think that integrating math into other subjects is a good
idea, and it wouldn t be very hard to do because there are a lot of books today that include counting

we will be integrating technology into our lessons a lot. The third grade class that I am in for my

useful, but I also think that it takes the creativity out of

Designing The Robotic Arm Is Controlled By A...
In this paper a project is proposed to separate the objects from a set according to their colors.
This can be useful for categorization of the objects which move on a conveyer belt. The proposed
method of categorization is based on color of the object. In this project the system categorization
of different colors. The detection of the particular color is done by a light intensity to frequency
converter method. The robotic arm is controlled by a microcontroller based system which controls
DC motor for picking up the specified color from a moving objects conveyer belt.
In this project we will be using combination of microcontroller, Sensors and mat lab for some
virtualization. When a different combination of objects moving on industrial conveyer belt it s
very difficult or labor consuming to separate the objects based on the color , As machinery is
capable to produce the different color objects at the same time or different machineries produce
the different color objects and dump on the same conveyer belt. At this point of time our project
provides value added service in picking up the objects based on their color for packing or
distinguishing.

The Chesapeake Bay is one of the largest and most useful renewable resources not only in the
United States, but in the world. The Chesapeake can be replenished naturally and has been used
for hundreds of years. There are many use and non use values of the Chesapeake. Use value
implies that attributes of nature are being utilized in some sense. In the case of the Chesapeake
this can refer to the crabbing, fishing, ecotourism and scenic values of the bay. Ecotourism is
when people visit a natural or environmental resource to engage in outdoor recreation of some
sort. Non use values are values expressed by humans simply for the existence of natural resources.

This causes the resource rent, which is the net value of a resource prior to extraction, to diminish

The Maryland Blue Crab, which is the most iconic creature of the Chesapeake, has decreased in
population from 276 million in 1990 to 131 million in 2008. This dramatic decrease has caused a
cumulative loss to both Maryland and Virginia of 640 million dollars. In an attempt to restore the
blue crab population, Maryland and Virginia instituted a public policy to place restrictions on the
crabbing of the Chesapeake. This is an example of a command and control policy because public
authorities established direct controls on individual actions. This created harsh economic hardships
for many crabbers, causing the Secretary of Commerce to decide that the blue crab fishery had

The Attack on Pearl Harbor Essay
December 7, 1941, was one of the worst attacks on the United States in U.S. history. Of that day
2,403 soldiers were killed in action, 1,178 were wounded in action. Numerous U.S. armed forces
personnel were misjudged, which allowed the Japanese to carry out this terrible attack. Not only did
the Japanese hit the U.S. where they knew it would hurt the most, but it crippled the United States
entire Pacific Fleet.

Not only did the United States freeze all Japanese assets under U.S. control but it halted all sales
of oil to Japan as well. The United States tried to resolve the issues with Japan over these
differences, but a resolution could not be reached and war was inevitable (Borg). Why didn t
the U.S. suspect Pearl Harbor of being the place of attack? Since the United States halted all
exports to Japan, Japan declared war on the United States. Due to the lack of information, lack of
technology, and talks of peace by Japan, the United States had no idea where Japan was going to
hit. In January 1941, reports were received that Japan might attack Pearl Harbor but military
officials ignored these reports. They considered attacks on the Philippines and other European
countries to be more likely, underestimating Japan s ability to conceal preparations for such an
operation. Due to the success of the cryptanalysis machine called, Magic, American leaders
started breaking Japanese military operational codes. The codes that were deciphered showed
Japan was likely to take some type of military action (Irive). At that time, Japan had only a 12
month supply of petroleum to fuel its economy and war operations left. So the U.S. anticipated
Japan would act quickly! The only questions that could not be answered were when and where

Bigger Than A Hamburger, By Ella Baker
In 1960 Ella Baker delivered a speech entitled Bigger than a Hamburger to what would come to be
the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). In this speech she argued to students
who had been involved in the sit ins that what they were fighting for was bigger than a hamburger
and desegregating a lunch counter, but struggling for equality in all its forms. In a similar way, so
too has the fight for quality education been bigger than a classroom. Ella Baker also argued that,
through the process of education, black peoplewould be accepted in the American culture and they
would be accorded their rights in proportion to the degree to which they qualified as being
persons of learning and culture. This is a testament to the over 200 year tradition within the black
community of viewing education as inseparable with the concepts of freedom and citizenship.
During slavery anyone found to be assembling in an effort to teach slaves to read and write
received corporal punishment. Consequently, throughout Reconstruction education was pursued
with a vengeance. Freedmen s Bureau agents reported, Colored men have paid their own money
to prepare and furnish a room for a school. The Rosenwald Fund, a charity organization headed
by the president of the Sears Roebuck Company, donated funds to build black schools, but the
funds had to be matched by those from the local school system. So black residents double taxed

Romanticism In Sense And Sensibility
In the eighteenth century, reason and emotion no longer worked together. Emotion was kept down
and was considered inferior. Social conventions were more important than individual convictions.
In other words people considered form more significant than content. As regard art, this period was
called Classical period. The opposite of this was slowly being prepared to burst out at the time of
the French Revolution. This period was called Romantic.
What Romanticism tried to do was stir all the way through the Age of Reason so in this case man
and nature became fused through participation in the one mighty being , so that the most elemental
natural objects became humanised . The term of sensibility emerged as a concept in the
Enlightenment Era but continued to be defined during the Romantic period and beyond. This new
concept describes people s capacity to be affected by the world around them. It also directly
correlates their emotional capabilities with their moral development. A high moral standard should
result in an appropriate emotional response. What was considered appropriate was different for men
and women, however. People thought that sensibility led ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

These perspectives included that MERS CoV was unexpected and unfamiliar to most physicians in
the Republic of Korea, which was neglected in nosomic environments, hospital emergency rooms

Similarities Between Egyptian And Greek Women
To be a woman in any civilization is not an easy task. Even in today s century woman keep
having difficulties and differences with equality and rights. It is not surprising that those
problems come from many centuries ago. The best ancient civilization to be a woman was Egypt.
They treated women better than Roman Empire or Athens. That is why Egyptian woman became
an example of female autonomy in society for other civilizations. Egyptians view women and
family as a crucial fact for happiness and delight, they looked women as invidious with respect
and not as objects like other civilizations. In the first place, comparing contemporary women of
Rome, Greece (especially Mycenaean); Egyptian women live with a certain freedom, respect and
free will, which put them in many ways as equal as men. They could own property, borrow money,
sign contracts, divorce, inherit, be involved in religion and even appear in court. These rights did
not make women wanting to be better than the man, on the contrary it prevailed the will and

Online Research Skills
Introduction
Technology has revolutionized the realm of education through increasing the number of sources
and methods of research (Cottrell, 2013). The accessibility of online based research platforms has
created an avenue for students to have ultimate desire to learn and eventually become qualified
scholars. Research and more especially educational research open the heart and minds of students to
greater inventions; hence, creating a better and accomplished society. Accessibility of information
through online searches will not only create an excellent platform for research, but also increase the
intrinsic motivation and desire for students to learn; hence, become ideal citizens. The aim of the
essay is to help educators understand the implications Online Research Skills have on the
classroom. Learning institutions have embarked on creating online facilities where students can
access information through internet via the World Wide Web
. The remote access in various parts of
the globe makes it possible for students to study irrespective of their location and the geographical
areas. However, guidance is paramount when students choose various sources of research found
online. Some sources are credible while others may not meet the standards of Academia, and this
explains why educators should provide adequate directions.

Federalists and Anti-Federalists Essay
The Constitution, when first introduced, set the stage for much controversy in the United States.
The two major parties in this battle were the Federalists and the Anti Federalists. The Federalists,
such as James Madison, were in favor of ratifying the Constitution. On the other hand, the Anti
Federalists, such as Patrick Henry and Richard Henry Lee, were against ratification. Each party has
their own beliefs on why or why not this document should or should not be passed. These beliefs
are displayed in the following articles: Patrick Henry s Virginia Should Reject the Constitution,
Richard Henry Lee s The Constitution Will Encourage Aristocracy, James Madison s Federalist

He thinks that this system would never really be followed. The senate, he says, is not structured
well enough to protect the rights of the people. One of his main points is the leaning towards a
monarchy. He describes that it would be very easy for the President to become a king. Henry
seems to also contradict himself on this point when he says that he would rather have a king and
lords than a chief who controls the army. Henry s final point is about the creation of an absolute
ruler. Like he says about the monarchy, it would be easy for this to happen. If the President has
control of the army, it would be easy to declare himself an absolute leader.
Richard Henry Lee is another Anti Federalist who displays his views throughout his article. Lee
discusses some arguments, but the main point of his article is about how the Constitution came to
be and the problems associated with it. He says by making tender, suspension, and paper money
laws, have given just cause of uneasiness to creditors. By these and other causes, several orders of

never been thought of. Another point that Lee makes is about the delegates that were chosen to go

Theme Of Expressionism In Bury The Dead
The characters, conflicts and physical settings in Bury the Dead are all carefully constructed to
initiate a specific emotional response. They are not created to be analyzed as being apart of
reality. However, expressionism is not a subset of complete fantasy, it is a distilled form of reality
in which an artist or author can focus specifically on an event, person or group of people and the
subsequent inner reaction he or she wants to make aware to the audience. Expressionismcan be
found throughout literature, art and theater, therefore it is not difficult to exhibit similar
reactions found in Bury the Dead in other mediums or even settings. A new transposition of
Shaw s work would ardently relate the stark themes to a modern audience. The second facet of
Shaw s play that stands out as essential is the use of sardonic wit in his dialogue. Verbal quips
can be described as sardonic if they are intended to criticize or demean a person or group of
people. For example, in Bury the Dead, the Doctor references the apathy of the Generals during his
examinations.
Shaw, primarily because the play is a form of propaganda, constructs the dialogue of every character
to carry the weight of his thesis of dichotomy. This realization connects the sardonic wit back to the
expressionistic characteristics. The characters and the setting are literary marionettes dancing to the
music of propaganda, holding no free intelligence unaligned to Shaw s themes. In a vast sea of
consumerism and

Also in our society there is pressure to be thin and stay thin and to some girls that itself is a huge
issue on what others think.
Many students who participate in sports are very common to have an eating disorder such as
Bulimia Nervosa. There are different sports that it is most common in and they are usually ones
with less clothing or uniforms also. Athletes such as Gymnasts, ice skaters, ballerinas and even
runners have a very high risk of eating disorders. The effort to please people around another and
to have a perfect body and even coaches suggesting diets for a team or players can lead to eating
disorders. Even sports such as wrestling can have these disorders even though these disorders are
less common in guys because wrestling has a specific weight category. Mostly in guy s sports
eating disorders are unintentionally encouraged because more in boys sport teams they are taught
winning is the most important thing. But when an athlete has an eating disorder it is more harmful
because they are doing so much activity without nutrients and energy and then the performance
level with decrease and injury is more likely to happen.
A person may not be able to tell a person has bulimia from a distance of their looks but there are
many signs that give the disorder away. If you are looking at a person you can tell by their jaws
and cheeks they could be swollen from all the vomiting, if they have cuts, scrapes, and even

How Did The Alliance System Cause Ww1
World War I was one of the bloodiest wars that the world has ever experienced. It was fought in
Europe between Germany, Russia, France, Great Britain, the U.S. and many others. However, what
is unknown is the cause of WWI. So the question remains, what was the reason for WWI. Alliance
systems, militarism, and imperialist were some of the causes that set off the one of the greatest
wars in the history of the world.
Alliance systems were one of the principal causes of WWI. The main reason that this was a world
war was because of the alliances with different countries. For example, Germany had an alliance
with Austria Hungary, who could have had several of other alliances with different countries. Also,
because of all the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were alliance systems that spread all throughout Europe. There was a glorification of the
military by several countries. There was also a rush to conquer all of the countries with imperialism
between feuding nations.
Despite the U.S attempt to remain neutral during WWI, it proved impossible. This meant the U.S.
had to raise the money and forces to wage war. Up until just before the U.S declared war on April
6th, 1917, the U.S. had tried everything in its power to stay neutral, but ties to Great Britain, the
sinking of ships by German U Boats, and the German attempt to get Mexico to declare war on the
U.S. with the Zimmerman Note, pushed the U.S. to get involved.
The US played a huge part in the peace negotiations after the war. The Paris Peace Conference in
1919 was a meeting of the Allied victors and the defeated Central Powers to set the terms of the
armistice ending World War Iand establish a postwar peace plan based on U.S. President Woodrow

What Is The Symbolism Of The Catcher In The Rye
Journal 5 (Reading Between the Lines) Sometimes it s what characters don t say that matters.
Symbolism provides readers with a chance to read between the lines and further interpret the work
further. J.D. Salinger uses this method to create more depth in his novel, The Catcher in the Rye.
By looking deeper into the symbols of the novel readers understand the true message he wishes to
convey.
One symbol Salinger uses is when Holden has a conversation with an arrogant taxi driver: I didn t
want to start an argument. Okay, I said. Then I thought of something, all of a sudden. Hey, listen, I
said. You know those ducks in that lagoon right near Central Park South? That little lake? By any

When Holden is questioned by his younger sister, Phoebe, regarding what he would like to do
when he gets older, Holden replies, Anyway, I keep picturing all these little kids playing some
game in this big field of rye and all. Thousands of little kids, and nobody s around nobody big, I
mean except me. And I m standing on the edge of some crazy cliff. What I have to do, I have to
catch everybody if they start to go over the cliff I mean if they re running and they don t look
where they re going. I have to come out from somewhere and catch them. That s all I d do all
day. I d just be the catcher in the rye and all. I know it s crazy, but that s the only thing I d really
like to be. Here Holden exposes his deepest desire and interprets the book s theme. Holden attempts
to keep children in the innocence of childhood and his wish to save other children from the descent

Why Is Winston Churchill A Turning Point Of Ww2
The Battle of Britain fought from July 10, to October 31 1940 was the largest, cruelest air battle
in history fought in World War Two. The battle was between Germany and Britain. Britain was
sinking ships carrying Germans across the channel, therefore Hitler wanted to destroy the British
air force in order to stop he called for operation Sealion (the invasion of Britain) by sending the his
air force (the Luftwaffe) to destroy the RAF in order to make it easier to take control of the entire
country. Germany was feared, they invaded and defeated every country in their path. However,
Britain won which set a turning point of WW2, marking the first defeat of Hitler s military forces.

No Child Left Behind Was An Act Of Congress Proposed By...
No Child Left Behind was an act of Congress proposed by President Bush January 23, 2001. The
bill was coauthored by the following representatives: John Boehner (R OH), George Miller (D
CA), and Senators Edward Kennedy (D MA) and Judd Gregg (R NH). The purpose of this bill was
to reauthorize the Elementary and Secondary EducationAct which included Title 1, a program for
disadvantaged youth. To receive federal funding schools must measure students using standardized
assessments in particular grades. Each state has developed its own standard for how a student must
perform on a given assessment. Before No Child Left Behind states took in billions of dollars for
educational funding and were not held accountable for the funds allocated to them.
Disadvantaged youth were written off as unable to be taught and they were pushed through the
system receiving little to no education. Parents were denied the ability to know if their students
were receiving quality education. Some speculate people against educational reform have
incorrectly claimed that NCLB is an unfunded mandate. Brian Riedl of the Heritage Foundation
noted, NCLB is neither unfunded nor a mandate. States are not obligated to accept funds in federal
education aid NCLB offers. If a state wishes to not be held accountable for improving student
achievement, or that prefer to do things a different way, they can simply decline the money.

Martin Luther Purgatory Beliefs
Martin Luther, like most traditional Christians, believed that this life was simply a pilgrimage, a
journey toward our destination. That destination was an eternity spent either in heaven or in hell.
There was nothing one could do to earn a spot in heaven God freely forgave the sins of some, and
they could enter heaven. Luther disagreed strongly with the Roman Catholic teaching that there is
also a place called purgatory, because purgatory is not explicitly mentioned in the Bible. The
belief in purgatory developed over the course of the middle Ages, driven by the logic of the
Catholic system of sanctification. Those who were baptized and thus cleansed of the stain of
original sinstill had to pay the debt for the offense of sin to a perfect God. In addition, any additional
sins must be paid for. You earned merits toward the debt by performing works, especially the
sacraments. Lutheranism believe that people are saved by God s mercy and forgiveness and not
by righteousness for our past or even by a personal action of deciding to following Jesus. Believing
this Lutherans coined the phrase By Faith Alone
Current contemporary beliefs In Lutheran theology, the Law reveals sin and God s punishment for
sin. The gospel proclaims the forgiveness of sins and the gift ... Show more content on

Human technology and social development fostered the rapid movement of people throughout the
globe during the latter phases of the Paleolithic Era. Many developments allowed the early hunter
gathers to cope with various environmental pressures. The first development is fire which was the
advance towards humantechnology. Fire was considered the most centered element in their culture.
They formed the technique to preserve glowing embers and starting fires by rubbing sticks together.
This technique led to many improvements in the Paleolithicpeople. It allowed people to eat much a
wider range of food since they could now cook them. With fire, they could eat animals such as

The Methods and Techniques of Judge Dee from Celebrated...
Judge Dee is a magistrate for the Chinese Province of Ching Ping and he used many methods and
techniques to solve his cases. He also had significant influence on the society. Judge Dee mainly
utilized two methods to solve his cases, and they were using disguises and torture. He first used
disguises in the case The Double Murder at Dawn to try to find any suspicious man or women
that might look like he or she has been in a conflict instead; he finds the beginnings of the second
case The Strange Corpse. This is always a simple way to get information because if he appeared as

Judge Dee was considered the Father and Mother Official. Magistrates function as a judge, jury,
prosecutor, and detective. He was the highest power in his district and was in charge of many
things. He was in charge of the town, land administration, the tribunal, the bureau for the
collection of taxes, the register office, and the public order in the district. Magistrates had to
have great moral strength, intellectual power, and refined literati also trained on Chinese letter
and arts. Without any of these skills, the magistrate would have failed his job. He would have
barely gained any support since these skills were signs of a good leader. The Magistrates were
almost miniature monarchs of their own lands. Even though whatever they say is not law, they
are able to convict and torture people until they listen. Judge Dee took everything under his
control form the detective work to sentences. He used lieutenants and constables to help out, but
most work was done single handedly. No one else I the district has more power than him. A few
magistrates in the book even had their own private army for example; the magistrate in Turnip
Pass had a garrison to protect the area from criminals. Magistrates are supposed to be truth seeking
men. Judge Dee is obviously truth seeking because he tries to see why the husband died in The

What Are Jean Toomer s Struggles
1920 s Struggles
During the Harlem Renaissance there were many inspirational authors, poets, and artistic
influences in the African American culture, along with women s rights. Two of which are Jean
Toomer, who wrote Georgia Dusk and Amy Lowell who wrote, New Heaven s for Old. Georgia
Dusk portrays the lives of African Americans from an inside perspective that allows readers to
grasp onto what it was like to live with racism and diversity during that time period. While at the
same time Amy Lowell is describing her life as a women with no rights but those in the house, both
views inflict upon the idea of being unvaluable and underappreciated for being the race or gender
that they are. Jean Toomer was born in Washington, D.C., and lived from 1894 1967. While
growing up with his grandfather, Toomer never really knew his father. His grandfather had been an
important Louisiana politician during the Reconstruction era, and his mother. After high school

life, are inviting her to be apart of what they re doing because she can t do it at her own will.

and years. The founding fathers could never see just how prosperous and advanced the country
would become years later. Joseph Ellissucceeds in transporting all who read his novel, Founding

Many hold an idea that the nation was built on honesty and loyalty. It would surprise many to
find out how much Jefferson lied. Ellis is able to present Jefferson many times with bad qualities
or characteristics in his novel Founding Brothers. For instance, Jefferson would boost his image
by having a journalist write nasty articles about Adams. Shockingly enough sometimes he forgot
about the nation, and only worked for his own rise and the fall of Adams. Jefferson wrote a lot in
the Declaration of Independence on slave rights, yet he never truly took a stance on it. Ellis proves
Jefferson is not really the righteous founding father he is believed to

Reinsured Essay
reinsured has granted an indemnity without having reinsurance cover (as the reinsurance contract
is voidable). A reinsurer may also rely on a breach of the underlying insured and its failure to
disclose material facts to the reinsured. In cases of non disclosure of an underlying insured, a
reinsured may make an ex gratia payment and therefore, the reinsurer may argue that there is no
indemnification. In each situation where reinsurance is voided, the reinsured is left in an
unfavourable position, affecting the reinsured s regulatory capital and solvency position. The UK
Act abolishes the avoidance as the sole remedy for a breach of the duty of good faith and provides
a range of proportionate remedies that are contingent on the intention of the reinsured. This is
similar to the Act, which provides for a remedy proportionate to the failure to comply with a duty of

  • 2. Essay about The Foundation of My Identity Ronald Takaki, a frequent writer of cultural backgrounds, reminds us that, America does not belong to one race or one group, the people in this study remind us, and Americans have been constantly redefining their national identity from the moment of first contact on the Virginia shore. By sharing their stories they invite us to see ourselves in a different mirror. Out of my fellow composition students, at State University, I am the only one whose great great grandparentscame over to the USA. Out of twenty students, including myself, I found a surprising number of five parents, eight grandparents, and six great grandparents who immigrated to this wonderful country that we call America. Until recently I never would have never thought of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I know that my great grandparents and my grandparents spent most of their lives in the wide open country (Croswell, MI area). After asking a few family members I found that my grandma on my mom s side is nearly all German, while my grandpa was nearly all polish. Their grandparents came over here and settled in downtown Detroit. Later my grandparents built their own house in Utica, MI. That is were my mom grew up and lived until my dad and mom built their first house in Millington, MI over 27 years ago. Both of my grandpas were automotive shop workers almost all of their life, which is the same as most of their kids, especially on my dad s side. My generation is the first to attend college to become whatever they want, myself I m attending college to become a mechanical engineer and will probably coincide with other shopworkers just as my family does did. Millington is a very boring town, but our house had a rather nice setting. I spent my first 18 years in the second house that they built, also in Millington, Mi. It was an enormous 5 bedroom 3700 sq. ft with 10 acres of rolling heavily wooded property. It also had a nice clean ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Difference Between Aristotle And Montaigne Aristotle and Montaigne are two different philosophers, Aristotle is ancient philosopher while Montaigne is a modern philosopher. Aristotle believes friendship occurs between virtuous people and the goal is to help one another reach their absolute best. Montaigne believes a friend is another self resulting from a fusion of wills. The main focus of this paper is to assess Montaigne s philosophy and Aristotle s philosophy on their view of loveand judge which view of love is more convincing to a reasonable human being. Between Aristotle and Montaigne, Montaigne s view of love is more convincing to a reasonable human being because friendshipis more complex and complicated than categorizing friendship into different levels. Aristotle s view of love is philia, while on the other hand Montaigne s view of love is pragma. Philia is the deep comradely friendship about showing loyalty and pragma is the deep understanding between two people. Montaigne strongly believes friendship should be an unconstrained product of will, while Aristotle uses a rather categorical approach to friendship, utility, pleasure, and virtue. By making strict delineations and then using examples, he establishes a rather strict definition of friendship that is created along lines of social class. He argues, among other things, that friendship must be between similarly virtuous men of equal standing. In addition, the purest form of friendship, and the one that Aristotle considers the only genuine friendship, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Business Communication is different in Pakistan compared to western countries Communication is any behaviour, verbal or nonverbal, that is perceived by another. (Dwyer 2006) business communications are purposive interchanges of ideas, opinions, information, instructions and the like, presented personally or impersonally by symbol or signal as to attain the goods of organization. (Rosenblatt, Cheatham Watt 1992) Today, the organization is growing more complex and the business is growing larger, because of this, the communication is necessary for passing information between people working in the same organization, it provides the critical link between core functions. • 5. Christian Leaders Humility According to your cited statement, Humility, at its core, is a spiritual process of being formed in the image of God, indicate Bekker (nd., p. 3), and Lewis (2011, p. 127). You have made a great point about humility as being the core of spiritual process. I also believe it is the core of leadership behavior. I agree that there a need for Christian leaders to remain humble. I like to add few of my insights to your great post. The Scripture, Mark 10:45 says, For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many. A leader s humility should be expressed through his followers strengths and needs. Leader humility is still viewed as a rare personality trait that somewhat mysteriously ... • 6. Advantages Of Agent Based Simulation 1.Introduction Since the development of economics as a science, the majority of economists have used analytical models to explain economics hugely based on mathematical principles. Starting from the basic theorem of equilibrium which is very easily developed using mathematical principles only, to the optimization techniques, which involves plain usage of derivatives and other mathematical principles, these techniques lack to make a whole model with many unknowns in order to derive to a complex set of results, in contrary to only one result working in certain assumptions that they offer. Even though most of the theorems we use today in economics derive from analytical methods, the need to make decisions or solve real economical issues nowadays ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Agent Based Modeling and Simulation One could simply ask, why use ABM or ACE? As mentioned in the section above, there are several reasons why using ABM has a sort of competitive advantages toward other analytical or statistical based methods. In ACE, the possibility to include a large number of agents in the model, all in distributed corporation, provides creating of a large scale system in order to observe micro or macro principles. This is quite hard and tedious to be accomplished even using econometric principles with the help of software program, due to the problem of biased results and limitation on the dependent variables. In the context of ACE, several experiments can be conducted with unlimited number of agents involved in the system. Secondly, ACE can be considered as a great software for any business who would like to make decision making more strategic based, and furthermore, increase its competitive advantage in the market, by simulation the same conditions of the actual current market, to a virtual world in a simple software. Thereby usage of ACE is not restricted to only research based works, but can be used as a competitive tool for any business as well. • 8. The Development And Maintenance Of Civilization Essay Over the course of human history, order within society, through its many facets, has been considered to be a vital part of the development and maintenance of civilization. One such aspect of order, however, is arguably more important than all other characteristics: the creation and usage of social constructs. A social construct is defined as a social mechanism, phenomenon, or category created and developed by society, which aids in either the development or regression of society as a whole. While more commonly known constructs such as race and gendershape the mindsets of societies and civilizations as a whole over periods of time, the consequences of the existence of the construct itself can have both a positive or negative affect. Additionally, many social constructs are interconnected with each other, not exactly through topic matter but rather by the relationships and connections they establish with aspects of society and its influence upon it. However, race and gender are not the only constructs that shape mindsets and opinions, many lesser known ones also affect changes within society. Such examples include the constructs of higher educationand gender bias, two seemingly different aspects of society and ideals. However, although they do not explicitly mention each other, Linda Lee and Anne Fausto Sterling establish a clear connection between the two, especially in their dealings with societal development in their respective essays The Case Against College and ... That payment to Iran coincided with the release of some American hostages. Many republicans or people opposing to Obama s decision claim it was a ransom. Since Iranhas been in the list of states sponsoring terrorism, they also claim that Obama s administration is somehow a sponsor of terrorist activities as well. In the other side, President Obama explained that this money is part of the deal they finally concluded with Iran. On the White House website, a 112 pages document called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) gives some detailed about the deal with Iran. It says that the deal: Cuts off all Iran s pathway to nuclear weapon, including a covert pathway Puts in place vigorous measures that are necessary to verify that Iran cannot pursue a weapon Ensures sanction can be snapped back into place if Iran violated the deal Now that we have an idea about the current status of Iran nuclear deal, let us go back a bit to recapitulate about how the issue has arisen and why it was very concerning. • 15. Covert Drone Program And Targeting Killings Years preceding the terrorist attack on the 11th of September 2001, the CIA and the United States Air Force had already developed the facility to use aerial vehicles, piloted remotely, as weapons. Yet, it was the occurrence of 9/11 that sparked the use of armed remote piloted aerial vehicles (better known as drones) in the global War of Terror led by the United States. The purpose of this position paper is to examine the legality of the covert armed drone program, specifically in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) in Pakistan. It will consider the extent of accuracy of the legal frameworks relative to the drone program and targeted killings. To do so, exploring the context in which the United States justifies its actions and military strategies regarding the Global War on Terror is important. This paper will be providing a review of, amongst other references, two pieces of academic literature that discuss the presence of drone warfare in Pakistan: Mark Mazzetti s The Way of the Knife: The CIA, A Secret Army, and a War at the Ends of the Earth and David Sanger s Confront and Conceal: Obama s Secret Wars and Surprising Use of American Power. They will be used as evidence to support the questionability of the legal frameworks relative to the armed drone conflict. Stuart s imagination of the chocolate factory was the first attempt to translate Dahl s book from text into visual. Before the creation, there was no alike movie existed. Without any expectations from viewers, they were amazed to this interpretation of the fantasy. When Burton reproduced the movie, the one of a kind idea was refined. The movie mainly describes the affects of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank s structural adjustment programs. While these funds are created to help developing countries become more developed, the documentary shows how the reforms were not successful in Jamaica and put the country in debt. This paper will discuss the portrayal of globalizationin the documentary, and how globalization can affect people through different scale both locally and globally. Analysis Of The Movie Silver Linings Playbook A life interchanging from high to low, happy to sad, to the brink of exploding with euphoria to the lowest low, is the life of a human living with Bipolar disorder. This roller coaster of emotions is inevitable and almost unlikely to cure in terms of later onset. Living with any personality disorder puts strain and hardship on your loved ones and is more then anyone would want to deal with in their short lifetime. These disorders are more common than we know and the way they are treated will determine the individual s psychological outcome. The movie Silver Linings Playbook does a great job depicting a character with Bipolar disorder and the struggles the main character Pat faces on a day to day basis through his road to recovery. Silver Linings Playbook displays many types of psychological disorders that include Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Bipolar disorder, and a slight sexual disorder. Bradley Cooper does an exceptional job playing the role of Pat Solitano, a bipolar patient who has just been released from a psychiatric ward after almost killing another man for sleeping with his wife. He plans to relive his past and thinks that nothing has changed since he has been gone, a common occurrence of a subject with bipolar disorder. • 19. Capitalism And Capitalism In Society The value of money continues to decrease, but the need for this little yet powerful piece of paper continues to skyrocket. Many people believe money magically illuminates complications and solves problems. America has been a capitalist state for decades, so money may be considered fundamental to our survival as Americans. This may be the case for many, but I disagree. I believe capitalismis the base for social, political and economic inequality and the idea of capitalism deceives us into thinking we as Americans cannot function without money. Capitalism creates complications and conceive problems. In capitalism, many private owners control the means of production, causing the government not to regulate their businesses. Thus, allowing exploitation to occur. The U.S will continue to collapse as long as we are a capitalist society. This system forces us to be greedy and greed forces us to be selfish individuals. Once an individual is selfish they will continue to make decisions that have a negative impact on the lives of many. The upper classowns the means of production. They control and support some of the most prestigious institutions such as; prep schools, factories, social clubs and policy formation organization. • 20. A Battle Of Endings By James Cameron Sundiata Short Essay Andrew Davis Professor Benander Topics in Literature 4 November 2012 A Battle of Endings It is widely believed that the ending makes the story. What would Titanic, the movie by James Cameron, be without its ending? In the epics of Kirikou and Sundiata, we see two distinctly different endings that would cause different responses from different audiences. The Treatment of the villain is significant in the end because it brings into question the judgment of the hero. Examining how others respond to the shadow is important because it allows people to examine what they would do to treat the shadow who wronged others. A modern teenage Disney audience would be more satisfied with the treatment Sundiata gave to his enemies, because Sundiata tries his best to satisfy the people who were affected by the rule of the shadow. Sundiata s treatment of the enemies should be established before getting into the argument. Sundiata just wants the shadow out of the way of the goal of the conquering Mali, but he tries to please his people, the maiden, in serving justice to the Shadow. Some may argue that Sundiata really wanted to kill Soumaoro because of the treachery he brought upon Mali. However, Sundiata proves that defeating Mali is more important than killing the shadow when the book by D.T. Niane of the Longman African Writers states, Straight away the son of Sogolon sent some of them towards the river to completely guard the mountain (67), notice he did not ... • 21. Essay on How Much Russia Changed from 1856-1894 How Much Russia Changed from 1856 1894 During the years of 1856 and 1894, Russia changed immensely in its policies and general state. It went from being an ageing superpower into a country with internal problems and an ambience of civilian unrest. Alexander II realised the need to modernise Russia in order to prolong their status as a superpower. This stemmed from their defeat in the Crimean war. To modernise and industrialise Russia, a free workforce was needed and this could only be made available if people were freed from the land. This meant that Alexander II would need to somehow release the serfs from their owner s land. Another reason for emancipation was made clear in a quote from ... But generally, Russia changed a great deal during Alexander II s reign and the majority of change was constructive. Alexander III was faced with a number of dilemmas when he came to power. The assassination of his father had a huge impact on him. He believed that all attempts at reform were futile and so followed a policy of counter reform. His repressive measures became known as the Reaction . Some examples include Russification, where national minority influence was limited and the Statue of State Security, where judges, magistrates and officials sympathetic to liberal ideology were removed. During Alexander III s reign, opposition grew tremendously. This was generally due to Alexander III s repression, political stagnation and because if they did nothing, there would be no alternative to autocracy. In conclusion, Russia did not make a great deal of progress during Alexander III s reign. Alexander III dealt with Russia s problems by using suppression. But this caused more opposition to the tsar as it drove more support towards the violent revolutionary groups. In addition, some historians have said that Alexander III s policy of suppression stopped Russia s progression and as such, Russia regressed in terms of positive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When he was eleven years of age Johannes made his first appearance as a pianist [at a private subscription concert in which his father also took part, given with the idea of collecting funds for his future education. He played the piano parts in a Mozart Quartet and in Beethoven?s Quintet for wind instruments and piano, with such success that a speculative impresario wished to engage him for a concert tour that was to take him as far as America. About the age of twelve he came entirely under the tuition of Marxsen, who, finding him incorrigible in his desire to improve compositions at the piano, soon began to teach him theory. But in order to be able to continue these lessons, it was imperative that he should earn at least part of his keep at home, where funds were always distressingly low, thus before he was fourteen he was obliged, for want of a more congenial occupation, to play the piano at sailor?s taverns and dancing saloons, often very late at night and always in a far from healthy atmosphere. Why is this so? An answer may be found in the Dunning Kruger effect: the curious phenomenon of confident idiots emboldened by their own ignorance, rather than cautioned by it. The 1999 Dunning Kruger study found those armed with low metacognitive skills grossly overestimated their own competence in metacognitive tasks. The reason for this new means of communicating the Gospel was because no one was left who had actually walked with Jesus. Therefore, John the disciple throws a rummage sale in writing his account of Jesus; which was so much different than the other three Gospel writers. In January 1941, reports were received that Japan might attack Pearl Harbor but military officials ignored these reports. In a similar way, so too has the fight for quality education been bigger than a classroom. Ella Baker also argued that, through the process of education, black peoplewould be accepted in the American culture and they would be accorded their rights in proportion to the degree to which they qualified as being persons of learning and culture. This is a testament to the over 200 year tradition within the black community of viewing education as inseparable with the concepts of freedom and citizenship. • 41. Federalists and Anti-Federalists Essay The Constitution, when first introduced, set the stage for much controversy in the United States. The two major parties in this battle were the Federalists and the Anti Federalists. The Federalists, such as James Madison, were in favor of ratifying the Constitution. On the other hand, the Anti Federalists, such as Patrick Henry and Richard Henry Lee, were against ratification. Each party has their own beliefs on why or why not this document should or should not be passed. These beliefs are displayed in the following articles: Patrick Henry s Virginia Should Reject the Constitution, Richard Henry Lee s The Constitution Will Encourage Aristocracy, James Madison s Federalist Paper No. 10, and The Letters to Brutus. One of his main points is the leaning towards a monarchy. He describes that it would be very easy for the President to become a king. Henry seems to also contradict himself on this point when he says that he would rather have a king and lords than a chief who controls the army. Henry s final point is about the creation of an absolute ruler. Like he says about the monarchy, it would be easy for this to happen. If the President has control of the army, it would be easy to declare himself an absolute leader. Richard Henry Lee is another Anti Federalist who displays his views throughout his article. Lee discusses some arguments, but the main point of his article is about how the Constitution came to be and the problems associated with it. He says by making tender, suspension, and paper money laws, have given just cause of uneasiness to creditors. By these and other causes, several orders of men in the community have been prepared, by degrees, for a change in government (Lee in Unger, p. 119). Lee believes that if these things had not occurred, the idea of a new government would have never been thought of. Another point that Lee makes is about the delegates that were chosen to go to the convention. He says that the intentional purpose of the convention was to amend ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Theme Of Expressionism In Bury The Dead The characters, conflicts and physical settings in Bury the Dead are all carefully constructed to initiate a specific emotional response. They are not created to be analyzed as being apart of reality. However, expressionism is not a subset of complete fantasy, it is a distilled form of reality in which an artist or author can focus specifically on an event, person or group of people and the subsequent inner reaction he or she wants to make aware to the audience. Expressionismcan be found throughout literature, art and theater, therefore it is not difficult to exhibit similar reactions found in Bury the Dead in other mediums or even settings. A new transposition of Shaw s work would ardently relate the stark themes to a modern audience. The second facet of Shaw s play that stands out as essential is the use of sardonic wit in his dialogue. Verbal quips can be described as sardonic if they are intended to criticize or demean a person or group of people. For example, in Bury the Dead, the Doctor references the apathy of the Generals during his examinations. Shaw, primarily because the play is a form of propaganda, constructs the dialogue of every character to carry the weight of his thesis of dichotomy. This realization connects the sardonic wit back to the expressionistic characteristics. The characters and the setting are literary marionettes dancing to the music of propaganda, holding no free intelligence unaligned to Shaw s themes. In a vast sea of consumerism and ... The bill was coauthored by the following representatives: John Boehner (R OH), George Miller (D CA), and Senators Edward Kennedy (D MA) and Judd Gregg (R NH). The purpose of this bill was to reauthorize the Elementary and Secondary EducationAct which included Title 1, a program for disadvantaged youth. To receive federal funding schools must measure students using standardized assessments in particular grades. Each state has developed its own standard for how a student must perform on a given assessment. Before No Child Left Behind states took in billions of dollars for educational funding and were not held accountable for the funds allocated to them. Disadvantaged youth were written off as unable to be taught and they were pushed through the system receiving little to no education. Parents were denied the ability to know if their students were receiving quality education. Some speculate people against educational reform have incorrectly claimed that NCLB is an unfunded mandate. • 49. Martin Luther Purgatory Beliefs Martin Luther, like most traditional Christians, believed that this life was simply a pilgrimage, a journey toward our destination. That destination was an eternity spent either in heaven or in hell. There was nothing one could do to earn a spot in heaven God freely forgave the sins of some, and they could enter heaven. Luther disagreed strongly with the Roman Catholic teaching that there is also a place called purgatory, because purgatory is not explicitly mentioned in the Bible. The belief in purgatory developed over the course of the middle Ages, driven by the logic of the Catholic system of sanctification. Those who were baptized and thus cleansed of the stain of original sinstill had to pay the debt for the offense of sin to a perfect God. In addition, any additional sins must be paid for.
