If you consider using game elements in education, this presentation gives a hint at how to do it.. not only on a digital level, but also in the psysical classroom.
See what you should think about when it comes to motivation and fun :-)

Developing your Agile skills through social GamesAgile Montréal
The end state of a highly performing Scrum team is described in the Scrum Guide by Ken Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland as follow: ""when the values of commitment, courage, focus, openness and respect are embodied and lived by the Scrum Team, the Scrum pillars of transparency, inspection, and adaptation come to life and build trust for everyone"". Then the authors add: ""the Scrum Team members learn and explore those values as they work with the Scrum events, roles and artifacts."" We simply believe we can fast-track the development of these Agile core values through daily social games.
For the past three years, we have been experimenting with half a dozen of Scrum teams, offering opportunities to play a large variety of games (board games, card games, baby-foot, etc...) during the lunch hour and after hours. The results of this experimentation have quickly exceeded our expectations.

The center of attention is one of the most important things when designing a game.
First we will talk about the reason why you must keep that in mind by every little step of the game by showing a few examples. After that we will talk about the requirements coming up with that and how we can influence the players center of attention with game design elements.
This presentation explores the idea that educators can adopt the principles of game design to design learning experiences that foster engagement, ethical citizenship, and entrepreneurial spirit. I gave this presentation at the 2013 conference for The Association of Alberta Public Charter Schools (TAAPCS)
Tutorial and workshop from the Games for Health 2014 conference. Covers common problems, failings of gamification, elements of player experience, paper prototyping, and essential concepts in game design.

Presented by students from the Blue Valley Center for Advanced Professional Studies (CAPS) Teacher Education Program.
Technology has had a positive place in education with its resources for learning and communication, but it also has received negative press considering addictions to devices, time on task, and isolation of students. Students, however, feel that they are not connected to devices but rather connected to a network and community in which they live. Educators could feel more comfortable with this concept if technology could be viewed as an asset rather than a distraction. Join us to hear from students on how teachers can leverage technology to not only build better relationships with students and each other, but also as a way to promote mental health, confidence, positivity, and acceptance into a lifelong community of learners.
This session is created by and presented by eleventh and twelfth grade high school students who are a part of a Teacher Education program at the Blue Valley Center for Advanced Professional Studies. They work with practicing teachers and their students and also research and study innovations in learning.
Gamification:the new key to success. How gamification is applied in education.Dorina.Izbisciuc
"Gamification-the new key to success" is a presentation about the application of gaming concepts in our social life,in business,in education and at work.In the decade of games,we explain the basic games dynamics, games mechanics and their crucial importance in order to become a great player in reality. We have to start doing the real world more like a game,so we started by explaining the gamification process in education, emphasizing the huge success of The Khan Academy and of the math teacher Ananth Pai.
This presentation was used at a three hour workshop, where I (Thomas Østerlund Mortensen) argued why MinecraftEdu sould be used in education. After this presentation we played aroud on our MinecraftEdu Shool server
Da "Det mobile Vejle" afholdte netværksmøde (7. februar 2012) i Spinderihallerne. Gav jeg en "præsentation" om mulighederne for brugen af Augmented Reality i undervisningen. Ydermere legede vi også lidt med AR visitkort for at tække de virksomheder der var til stede.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

Intrinsic
You do things for your own sake
You do it because you want to do it
Extrinsic
You do things for other reasons than it self
You do it for money, fame, someone else you value
You do it for the reward not the thing itself.

• The Over-justification Effect
If you pay teachers to get the pupils to a certain academic

Editor's Notes
If we had three days with a course every day… we could learn to play video games, and get into gamification in different contexts, but due to limited time… today we are going to learn what gamification is and we are going to play video games…
So I wanna tell you what game elements are (and why I don’t use Gamification).
What you should remember when planning to use Gamification in learning
Then we are going to see some examples from our school
And then we are going to play for a while. Not to make your own learning ressources, but to just start to play video games
I wanna give you this presentation so that you can use it at home..
Many people think that when we talk of game elements and learning we just talk about that the kids love video games and thats game elements… getting video games to fit into the existing learning ethnvironment… like some sort of trade… ”you learn now then you have fun with the video game later… like some sort of activistic activity.
But it’s much more than that… In this course, we are going to dig deeper, and talk about WHY video games are loved by SO many people, and how we can fit that kinda motivation into the learning environment.
Fun game… not I ate the arm… but also how fast can you finish the arm… example with my son…
Also have a friend that has two children… they compete a bit…
SO i want to talk a little bit about why game elements in learning…
How do we get them to learn the most…
What makes us wanna play games
First of all what is motivation
Overall you want to feel successful in what you do, feel like you have a choice and knows why you do it.
Some mistakily think that PBL is enough… but it isn’t enough
And as a very famous lady said
Overall you want to feel successful in what you do, feel like you have a choice and knows why you do it.
Important to try and get all 4 kinds of fun into your learning environment
Make it relevant and refer to MinecraftEdu server
Many modern didactic theoretics agree that happy learners are good learners… easens up the learning process.
Of course there are many kinds of fun, and games…
- motivere eleverne for engelskundervisningen
- aktivere flest mulige elever samtidigt gennem autentisk kommunikation omkring løsning af en række opgaver i spillet Minecraft
- øge modet til og sikkerheden i at udtrykke sig mundtligt på engelsk
