2015 is shaping up to be a pivotal year for the global manufacturing industry. Manufacturing plants are not longer dirty, dark and dangerous places to work; they house some of the world’s most sophisticated equipment, are managed using complex data and software, and run on powerful technology systems. As the concept of a ‘smart factory’ becomes more of a reality, we take a look at the manufacturing trends shaping the industry in 2015.
This OECD Global Forum on Environment dedicated on "Mainstreaming Gender and Empowering Women for Environmental Sustainability" took place on the 5th and 6th March 2020. Over two days, participants discussed the gender – environmental sustainability nexus, identifying and proposing ways to capitalise on synergies between environmental policies and economic and social goals, such as achieving gender equality and women’s economic empowerment.
The Global Forum covered the following issues:
• Integrating gender into environmental policies: Data and evidence challenges;
• Differentiated environmental impacts on women’s and men’s health and well-being;
• Sustainable and gender-inclusive urbanisation, settlements and transport infrastructure;
• Gender-specific consumption patterns, behavioural insights, and circular economy;
• Biodiversity, agriculture, fisheries: changing economic opportunities for women and men;
• Greening energy and ensuring a just transition for men and women;
• Environmental justice and empowering women and youth.

Hult Prize -University of Rajshahi unit had organized an interactive session on the "Fourth Industrial Revolution in Food Industry" on 22nd September 2020. The session was from 8 pm - 9:45 pm. The session was taken by Redwan Ferdous.
More than 1.8K people watched the Live on Facebook. Different topics of the 4th Industrial Revolution and sustainable development goal on Food Circle was discussed. Different real life example was also shown through the presentation.
At the end of the session, a few of the queries from the participants were answered. Different quick quiz winners were awarded certificates.
Modular Construction and 3D printed houses are becoming popular in GCC markets, but the real opportunity lies in Egypt. This presentation is useful for building material suppliers and contractors thinking about positioning themselves to sell effectively.

The global modular construction market was valued at US$ 87.3 billion in 2021 and is expected to reach US$ 130.2 billion by 2028; growing at a CAGR of 5.9% during the forecast period from 2021 to 2028. Modular construction is a type of off- site construction of structural units which are assembled on the site to complete the construction of a building. It produces less waste and less site disturbances compared to traditional construction. Modular construction is used for permanent and temporary services particularly for military, hotels, educational institutes like classrooms and student residences and healthcare facilities. Furthermore, dissembling and shifting of these buildings can be done without any wastage of time and it can be renovated for new modular construction reducing the raw material needed and energy requirement for construction of new setup.

The Internet of Things (IoT) redefines the notion of connectivity; a transition to a vast, all-encompassing web of interconnected devices which uses data to measure, calculate, evaluate and learn. This network transcends the traditional comprehension of M2M in both capability and scale, linking together billions of devices and integrating everything from tiny remote beacons to large communications networks and energy infrastructure.
The potential of this vast connected network is staggering, and brings forth real capacity to help address some of our most crucial socio-economic concerns. Devices can utilise the data at their disposal to optimise efficiency and help reduce waste. Sensors can pre-empt mechanical breakdowns and determine the most safe and cost-effective time to schedule maintenance and repair. Energy systems can be transformed into smart grids, achieving improved efficiency by ensuring supply is regulated in accordance with actual real-time demand. It is this capacity to harness vast amounts of data to understand problems and identify solutions which underlines the true potential of IoT.
This conference will bring together technologists from industry, academia and government to explore the evolution of the Internet of Things. The programme will contextualise IoT within the current technology landscape and assess the implications for business and wider society. Working with data is a challenge for many organizations. Nonprofits in particular may need to collect and analyze sensitive, incomplete, and/or biased historical data about people. In this talk, Dr. Cori Faklaris of UNC Charlotte provides an overview of current AI capabilities and weaknesses to consider when integrating current AI technologies into the data workflow. The talk is organized around three takeaways: (1) For better or sometimes worse, AI provides you with “infinite interns.” (2) Give people permission & guardrails to learn what works with these “interns” and what doesn’t.
