Introduction to Aerospace Engineering
 Aerospace Engineering deals with designing,
construction, development, testing and operations of
flying vehicles and aircrafts.
 Deals with designing of sketches and blueprints of
aircrafts.
 Aeronautical and Astronautical engineering are the two
types ofAerospace Engineering.
 Aeronautical Engineering deals with aircrafts operating
within Earth’s atmosphere such that airplanes,
helicopters.
 Astronautical engineering is concerned with aircrafts
operating outside Earth’s atmosphere
History
 Main foundation of Aerospace engineering
was the work of George Cayley.
 Origin of Aerospace engineering can be found
around 19th & 20th century.
 Sketching in Aerospace Engineering was
introduced by Leonardo-De-Vinci.
 Leonardo-De-Vinci set the standard of
sketching in Aerospace Engineering
Latest inventionsof Aerospace
engineering
 Following are the latest inventions of
Aerospace engineering:
 Aeromobil Flying Car 3.0
 Flying Commuters
 PalV One
 Energy Harvesting Skin of Aircrafts
 NASA’s Mission Curiosity
Aeromobil Flying Car 3.0
This car transfers from a road running vehicle to an Aircraft within
matters of seconds and gives the driver opportunity to become a pilot.
Characteristics
 Following are the characteristics of
Aeromobil flying car 3.0
 VariableAngularWings
 Autopilot System
 Modern Material
 Parachute Ejection System
 RoughTerrain Landing
Flying Commuters
Flying commuters work on the principle of creating thrust and propelling itself
upwards making the owner able to fly to a certain distance.
Characteristics
 Following are the characteristics of Flying
commuters
 Easy to use interface
 Environmental Friendly
 Craft to Craft Communication
 Time Saving
Pal V One Copter Car
Pal v one copter car is the latest invention of aerospace engineering which from a car can
change itself into a flying helicopter at any time allowing its owner to fly to a certain
distance.
Energy Harvesting Skin of Aircrafts
Energy harvesting skin is a great achievement which led the engineers not only to
overcome the power losses in Aircrafts but also for power production using
piezoelectric fibres
Benefits
Following are uses of Energy Harvesting Skin:
 No need of power source for ground operations
 3.7 mWatt power can be generated
 Less required energy
 Backup power in case of emergency
NASA’s Mission Curiosity
A Robotic machine named Curiosity was send to mars for researching about the
atmosphere, feasibility with human life and existence of life. The mission was named as
Mission Curiosity.
Future Inventionsof Aerospace
Engineering
Following will be the future invention of
Aerospace Engineering:
 BoxWing Jet “The Eagle”
 Supersonic Green Machine
 Airbus BionicAircraft
 Detachable Cabin/Capsule
 SpaceX “Heart of Gold” MarsVehicle
Box Wing Jet “The Eagle”
ThisAircraft will be released in 2025 and is the product of Aerospace Company Lockheed
Martin. This aircraft will be cheaper then any other aircraft and consists of BoxWing
Concept.
Featuresof “The Eagle”
 Following are the features ofThe Eagle:
 Environmental Friendly
 LighterWeight Material
 Less Fuel Consumption
 Quieter
 Cheaper
Supersonic Green Machine
This is yet another product Lockheed Martin’s Company of Aerospace Engineering and will
be released in 2030.
Featuresof Supersonic Green Machine
 Features of Supersonic Green Machine:
 Unbelievable combination of Supersonic
and Quieter
 DecreasingAir Pollution
 Tackle Sonic Booms
 ConventionalTurbofan Landing System
Airbus Bionic Aircraft
This is another product of Lockheed Martin’s Company of Aerospace Engineering which is
expected to be completed in 2050.
Featuresof Airbus Bionic Aircraft
 Following will be the features of Bionic
Aircraft:
 Feature Film BasedAircraft
 Main aim is to prevent human being from Dooms
Day
 Bird’s Skeleton based structure
 Land after the creation of new Earth (Mythology)
Detachable Cabin/Capsule
As the causality toll in the accidents of various types of aircrafts rose higher, it is the need of hour that
some safety measurements in aircrafts must be taken especially in passenger aircrafts. Scientist and
engineers are working on the detachable capsule in the body of aircraft which will safe human life in air
accidents.
SpaceX “Heartof Gold” MarsVehicle
Elon MuskCEO of the Company SpaceX proposed a spaceship which will take 100 people
from earth to mars. It will be first spaceship which will land on mars with humans. The
name of the spaceship is named as Heart of Gold.
Featuresof Heartof Gold
 Following will the features of Heart of Gold:
 100 passengers will travel to Mars
 Detachable Part of the Heart of Gold will come back
for refuelling of the Spacecraft
 Minimum of 60 Days (2 months) to reach Mars
 Maximum o 150 (5 months) Days to reach Mars
 Possible return to Earth in 300+ days (1 year )
 Requires a special launching pad
 Such launching pad named PAD 39A is
underdevelopment
 Location of the PAD 39 A is Kennedy Space Center at
Cape Canaveral Florida
