Student motivation, by: Haseen Ah-HassanHaseeb Ahmed
I'm student from Zakho University English department, as any other students I had my own presentation in ELT (English Language Teaching) about Student Motivation, then when I got excellent for my presentation I decided to shared it with everyone.
Biomedical engineering is the application of engineering principles and design concepts to medicine and biology. It seeks to close the gap between engineering and medicine by designing products and procedures that solve medical problems, such as artificial organs, prostheses, medical instrumentation, and health systems. Biomedical engineers work with doctors and scientists to develop and apply technology including designing equipment to analyze blood samples, creating artificial hearts and skin grafts, and developing prosthetic hips and devices to repair bones.
Dr. Jennifer Irwin discusses student motivation in education. She notes that motivation is a shared goal between teachers and students, not solely the responsibility of teachers. The document then provides an overview of theories of motivation including behaviorism, Maslow's hierarchy of needs, attribution theory, expectancy theory, goals orientation theory, and flow theory. It also discusses the teacher's role in motivation using the ARCS model of gaining student attention, relevance, confidence and satisfaction. Intrinsic versus extrinsic motivators are compared, and the relationship between anxiety and performance is addressed. The importance of teacher expectations on student motivation is emphasized.
Motivation refers to factors that arouse, direct, and sustain human behavior. There are several theories of motivation, including drive theory which proposes that internal drives or needs push people towards goals, and incentive theory which suggests that external rewards or goals pull people to act. Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory also explains motivation and proposes that people are motivated to fulfill lower level basic needs before pursuing higher level growth needs. Managers can create a motivating work climate by setting clear expectations, being fair and consistent, developing teamwork, recognizing contributions, allowing autonomy and growth, and addressing individual needs and values.

Applying AI to Performance Engineering: Shift-Left, Shift-Right, Self-HealingAndreas Grabner
The document discusses how artificial intelligence can be applied to performance engineering to make it self-healing and self-service. It describes how monitoring needs have evolved from just looking at dashboards and logs to dealing with dynamic cloud environments. It outlines how AI can be used for full-stack monitoring with one agent, automated end-to-end tracing, automated log analytics and change detection. It then discusses how AI can enable shifting work left to break the pipeline earlier, improve mean time to resolution with auto-mitigation, and shift work right with tags, deployments and events to create actionable feedback loops across development, operations and business teams.
Bobby Clarke from ARM gave an introduction to ARM and their partnership model. ARM designs ARM processor cores and licenses them to partners who integrate the cores into their own chips. ARM also provides development tools and software to help with ARM architecture design and development. They are working to better integrate their tools with the Eclipse IDE through plug-ins and extensions.

Generative programming aims to deal with software system families by utilizing a generator, implementation components, and a domain-specific configuration language. The presented framework uses Java, Maven and Spring and allows defining features, frames, and content providers to generate customized software products based on an input configuration. It demonstrates how custom logic can be added through a content provider that replaces markers in frame files at generation time.

This document summarizes the results of a large-scale empirical study on the relationship between build systems and build maintenance activity. The study analyzed over 800,000 open source projects to compare how different build technologies (e.g. Make, Autotools, Maven) affect build churn, source code coupling, and authorship over time. The key findings are that framework-based build systems tend to have higher build churn, tighter source code coupling, and decreasing authorship as projects migrate to more advanced technologies.

Join Kim McMahon, Director of Marketing and Stephano Cetola, Technical Program Manager as we take a look at where RISC-V is going in 2021.
Help, My Kafka is Broken! (Emma Humber & Gantigmaa Selenge, IBM) Kafka Summit...HostedbyConfluent
While Apache Kafka is designed to be fault-tolerant, there will be times when your Kafka environment just isn’t working as expected.
Whether it’s a newly configured application not processing messages, or an outage in a high-load, mission-critical production environment, it’s crucial to get up and running as quickly and safely as possible.
IBM has hosted production Kafka environments for several years and has in-depth knowledge of how to diagnose and resolve problems rapidly and accurately to ensure minimal impact to end users.
This session will discuss our experiences of how to most effectively collect and understand Kafka diagnostics. We’ll talk through using these diagnostics to work out what’s gone wrong, and how to recover from a system outage. Using this new-found knowledge, you will be equipped to handle any problem your cluster throws at you.
This document contains a presentation by National Instruments that discusses:
1) A warning that projections made in the presentation may differ from actual results.
2) An overview of National Instruments' business including their leadership in computer-based measurement and automation, $821 million in revenue in 2008, and operations in over 40 countries.
3) Their strategic plan for dealing with the current economic environment which includes maintaining a strong cash position, focusing on strategic R&D investment, and managing costs prudently.
This document discusses the importance of infrastructure as code (IaC) through a story of a company that struggled to deploy a new application. The company took 4 weeks and 2 days to deploy the application to production due to manually configuring environments. IaC advocates treating infrastructure like code that can be version controlled, tested, and deployed automatically. The document demonstrates deploying a load balancer and servers on DigitalOcean using Terraform as the IaC tool. Benefits of IaC include reuse, automation, version control, testing, documentation, and collaboration.

Self-Training Jobs & Interfaces that Teach - Whitehouse Maker to Manufacturer...Nick Pinkston
The idea here is that the economy is becoming more and more complex over time, and that means we need to change the way we think about education because curricula become outdated too quickly.
My answers to this are: training self-learners, new forms of on-the-job training, workplace / workstation interfaces that teach you how to use them. The full implementation of this would be called a "self-training job".

The document promotes Plethora being live now and offers free parts.
Narratives are often used to manipulate others and are not always accurate representations of complex systems and knowledge. Books are becoming outdated and irrelevant as a learning tool due to their linear format and slow production process. New forms of media like decks and hypertext along with improved user interfaces are better suited for learning because they allow information to be presented in an easy and non-linear fashion without narratives that oversimplify complex topics.
Manufacturing the Future - MakerCon 2014Nick Pinkston
My talk from MakerCon 2014. The idea is how to look at manufacturing from a "base principles" approach. The idea is that if you want to see how manufacturing works in the future - you need to look at the physics and economics of the matter / energy / information that makes up products.
