Saints Scholars And Schizophrenics Summary
Saints, Scholars, and Schizophrenics is the ethnographic study of a small town of An Cloch an on the
Dingle Peninsula in Ireland. Nancy Scheper Hughes lived in this small village in order to gain
perspective to why there was such a large number of schizophrenic cases within Ireland, and also why
such a large percent were unmarried males. She wanted to dissect the issue of why these individuals
were so prone to schizophrenia and what cultural factors cause these high rates. Scheper Hughes
interviewed both individuals in the village but also patients in the nearby mental institution. She relied
heavily on thematic apperception tests and interviews for her conclusions. She found several cultural
factors create an environment for high rates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The labeling theory explains how a community or culture defines deviant behavior, and the proper
diagnosis to treating the individual. This can be seen in An Cloch an, where psychiatric problems are
rarely made by the villager himself (Scheper Hughes 161). Although initial hospitalization is rarely in
acted by the individual, the patient eventually internalizes his behavior as deviant and will identify
himself as insane once institutionalized. However, the labeling theory can only be used within the
definitions of the culture, since different cultures will define abnormal behavior differently. In the
context of some Non Western cultures, symptoms of schizophrenia are praised, and those who may
hear voices or hallucinate are deemed as spiritual, and given the role of prophet or shaman within the
culture. Although schizophrenic symptoms are revered in some cultures, within Ireland there is not
only a stigma to the patient, but to the family as well (Scheper Hughes 283).Scheper Hughes explains
that schizophrenia is a family condition; to the extent where there is a pathology for the schizophrenic
mothers . Defining the mothers of schizophrenic patients as obsessive, sexually and emotionally
immature, repressed, guilt ridden and ignoring the needs and demands of their children (Scheper
Hughes 257). This clinical diagnoses for mothers of schizophrenics only deepens the social stigmas,
and created more resentment among the family members toward the patient. Not

Minority Cultures in Pittsburgh
Minority Culture Jewish
Theme 1 Holidays/Traditions
There is no way to define someone as Jewish in terms of race; there is no Jewish race. Judaism has a
long history; Jewish identity is a combination of this history as well as religious and ethnic variables.
There are also several different ways to practice Judaism such as Orthodox, Reformed, Liberal, and
Masorti. The Orthodo Jews often follow most strictly the laws and observances of Judaism and will
often times send their child to privates Jewish schools at synagogues, therefore it is most likely that I
would encounter students that practice as less strict form of Judaism (Chinn, Gollnick p.254).

Her mother is said have been helped by the angel Gabriel. Abraham is born with a light emanating
from him and in her confusion; his mother leaves him in the cave. The angel Gabriel is said to make it
that milk will flow from Abraham s finger so that he will not starve. The legend also states that
Abraham knew in infancy of the one true God. Abraham was later reunited with his family and made
it his mission to convert everyone to his faith (Goldstein p. 49). Later, Abraham received a divine
command to circumcise himself and all his male descendants with the promise that this would lead to
future greatness. Shortly after Abraham had fulfilled this command he and his wife, Sarah, changed
their names (previously Abram and Sarai). Name changing is an important Jewish custom as well and
will be discussed later (Goldstein p. 50). Shortly after, their first son Isaac was born, and it is said that
God tested Abraham by commanding him to kill his son. When Abraham was about to go through
with the command the angel Gabriel stopped him (Goldstein p. 50 51). The Jewish people trace their
ancestry to Abraham through his son Isaac (Abraham also had another son, Ishmael with a servant girl
who the Muslims trace their ancestry) (Goldstein p. 54). The legends of Abraham are very important
in the Jewish faith because it is the basis of their entire religion. Abraham is seen as the first

Long Distance Moving Is Not Only Hard On The Body, And The...
Long distance moving is not only hard on the body, and the mind, but the soul. That cloudy Thursday,
I felt my soul beginning to crumble. I laid back in the passenger seat of our modest rust colored
Toyota, barely listening to music playing over my headphones, mostly wallowing in my gentle throbs
of weariness, and a stressful fear of prolonging the journey. I knew my mother felt the same way, from
the way she clutched at the steering wheel, and from the way her sunken eyes looked for the next turn.
It didn t help me, the fifteen year old city kid from Chicago, when we pulled off the Ohio Turnpike, to
a smaller highway, to an even smaller one, to then exit next to a rusted out truck stop, and onto a small
two lane road. Finally, my mom ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No distant wail of a siren. There wasn t even wind that night. Just plain, unadulterated, silence. I was
alone with my thoughts. It was depressing. It was exciting. But most of all, it was frightening. It wasn
t like this small town was any sort of final destination, I told myself. I had invested a lot of hope into
the idea of a fresh start, but not all of it. I had that desperate teenage need to escape, and thought of
Ohio as a place to get away. I thought of it as a new life. A place to get away from the cramped
stairwells, up to cramped apartments. A place to get away from the display case of city life. A place to
get away from the clouds, those clouds that filled the sky. And so what? I told myself. So what if this
isn t the promised land? So what if you didn t know what you liked about that place until you lost it? It
s still different, and It s still not a final destination, right? The next morning I awoke to find two men
standing in the driveway. Their bloated stomachs hanging down over their belts. Torn, Beat, and
ragged baseball were caps cocked back upon their not so closely shaved heads. The older one of the
pair seemed to be letting himself in the front door, while the younger man examined the Toyota
suspiciously. Mom. I called into the kitchen, where my mother was vigorously stirring a pot of milk
on the stove for coffee, partly to relieve frustration, and partly to replicate the perfect fluff of big city

Microbial Regulation oin the Food Industry
Microbiology Topic Paper:
Microbial Regulation in the Food Industry
Microorganisms have been involved I the development of food items throughout history. Although at
first it may have not been intentional over time humans have study and experimented with culturing
microbes to prolong the shelf life of foods, inadvertently changing the taste and textures of the food
item as well. As safety concerns spread in the 1900s regulations were formed to ensure the safety and
well being of humans. In the United States, the U.S. Food and Drug Admiration is the organization
that determines the overall safeness of a food element.
When Microbes are used in food they tend to fall under two types of categories in the FDA regulatory
classifications. The first category would be the generally recognized as safe category or GRAS
published as a proposed rule in 1997. Microbes considered GRAS fall under multiple definitions. If a
microbe was utilized prior to 1958 as an additive with no apparent side effects and proven to be safe
over time, it will fall under GRAS via being grandfathered in. Another way in which a microbe
additive will be considered GRAS is through common knowledge. Common knowledge is the
assumed awareness that experts have in knowing that a microbe is naturally in the development in the
food process. For example if a microbe is naturally present in yogurt, such as S. thermophiles, then
supplementary amounts of the same microbes being added to the yogurt

Benefits Of Economic Globalization On South Africa Essay
GVPT200 Essay II
South Africa has reaped the benefits of economic globalization first hand as it has emerged to become
a major economic power in Africa, especially in recent years. This country has been infamously
plagued by apartheid, an inhumane policy of segregation based on grounds of race, which also had
economic consequences as trade sanctions were established in 1986 by the United States in response
to South Africa s policy of apartheid. However, apartheid ended in the 1990s and the South African
Development Community was created in 1992 in order to promote economic development through
free trade zones in other regions in Africa. South Africa also signed free trade agreements with other
regions, including Europe. I am interested in analyzing South Africa from 1991 when severe trade
sanctions imposed against South Africa were repealed by the United States to 2010 when South Africa
became part of the esteemed BRICS countries, a major indication of global economic success. The
independent variable is therefore economic globalization, stimulated by the rescinding of the punitive
trade sanctions by the United States in 1991, while the dependent variable is whether South Africa has
done better or worse since 1991 when it became more connected to the global economy. The
indicators for the independent variable are the number of level of trade barriers, the repeal of
Comprehensive Anti Apartheid Act, openness to free trade and free trade agreements, exports, and

Introduction Jarvis: Sir, I think I need to sleep now... [shuts down] Tony Stark: Jarvis! Jarvis? Don t

Consider this other conversation: Colonel James Rhodes: Give me a suit. [holds out arms] Tony Stark:
Sorry, they re only coded to me. Don t worry, I got you covered. [a suit approaches Rhodey] Jarvis:
Good evening, Colonel. Can I give you a lift? Colonel James Rhodes: Very funny. (Ironman 1)
These are extracts taken from the Marvel blockbuster movie Ironman. By the face of it they seem as
normal conversations taking place amongst three characters. However, in relation to the topic of this
paper, Jarvis will be the example that is being brought into attention. Jarvis is not a person, rather it is
a computer system with the ability to control any machine it is linked to. In fact the name Jarvis is an
acronym J.A.R.V.I.S that stands for Just A Rather Very Intelligent System. Attention should be drawn
to the fact that Jarvis; rather than simply shutting down, goes to sleep, Tony Stark refers to him as a
buddy, which is slang for friend and Jarvis has a sense of humor! This exemplifies the level of human
capacity that the computer has. In line with this, the movie IRobot also explores a world where
machine and robots are an everyday part of life until they decide to rise against the humans. Now, one

Maust-Mohl s Argument Analysis
The tourism industry regarding animal encounters can harm the animal such as physical beatings,
malnourishment and mental trauma. Hediger agrees when he writes, Trifling disturbances may occur,
for the simple reason that certain innate behavior pattern, adapted for life in freedom, cannot develop
properly under conditions of captivity, or be brought into play, through lack of appropriate stimuli (pg.
29). Basically, Hediger is warning us that putting animals in captivity for our personal pleasure can
harm them in many ways besides physically. Society needs to pay attention to the animals overall
wellbeing to make sure they are treated ethically and with morality. Not paying attention to the needs
of the animals needs during the transition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Writing in the journal, Social and Cultural Geography, Rebekah Fox states that, we need to recognize
the continuity of all life forms and value beings for their own intrinsic worth, autonomy and difference
rather than on the basis of their similarity to humans (pg. 527). In other words, Fox believes that
humans see animals as having both humanistic qualities and having their natural instinct. However, we
need to see all animals as having their own worth, and that no species are the same. Although Fox
does not say so directly, she apparently assumes that humans create these humanistic qualities of the
animal they are spending time with, with their own qualities. Fox agrees when she writes, readings
tend to essentialize animal actions into supposed biological behavior, such as the pack instinct in dogs,
and ignore animal agency and individual interaction (pg. 529). The essence of Foxs argument is that
some literature focuses on the animal s natural instinct instead of the empathy and individualistic traits
they have. While some people rarely admit as much similarity we have with animals, they often take
for granted that humans have the same natural instinct to want to protect their young and defend
against predators. Realizing the similarities humans have with animals the public needs to be more
concerned about the tourism industry and how it greatly affects animals lives. The

My Own Creative Process And Transformative Experiences...
This paper intends to describe the application of my own creative process and transformative
experiences during the stages of work from creation to completion of an original body of sculptural
artwork. Secondarily, providing analysis and interpretation of the relationship to the theories of
creativity that have been studied throughout this course. I will be using the concept of self awareness
found in Maslow s hierarchy of needs (Runco, 2014) and the concept of self observation as a form of
measurement and as the primary research method. The result of this concentration aims to demonstrate
the generation and connection of new knowledge that deepened my understanding of creativity in the
context of the person, process, place, and product.
There are many definitions, from many people of what creativity is and what it is not. It only seems
logical to start with my own definition for a sequential frame of reference. I believe that creativity is
having vision and exercising cognitive processes that when combined with personality traits,
influential experiences, environments, and learned skillsets generate original ideas by an individual.
That is a synthesis of three of the five creativity research paradigms: person, process, and place,
summarized in Creativity: Theories and Themes: Research, Development, and Practice. (Runco et.al,
2014) This is my vision. Before starting this course, I had been thinking about the possibility of
creating sculptures that intertwine art with

Short Story Of Grendel s Mom
Grendel s Mom
I am a loving mother of a Grendel, a 35 year old, who I just found out has been diagnosed a with
mental illnesses. As a boy Grendel was very quiet, not wanting to play with the other sea creatures,
due to the fact that he was constantly teased by the local villagers when we lived in Herot. He said his
same quiet self as he grew up but he constantly made trips to the village to visit his first home. Then
one night I was woken up to the sound someone slowly banging on the front door. I curiously creeped
downstairs to who was at the door. When I opened the door, I saw it was my precious son struggling to
get into the house. He had scratches and gashes everywhere, not to mention the fact that he was
missing a whole arm. All the open wounds were gushing mass amounts of blood, making him
completely saturated in the blood. I helped him inside, and attempted to bandage him up but the
wounds were too severe and too large. At this point he was struggling for his life and I tried to comfort
him in his final moments. As he was slowly slipping away in my arms, I asked who had done this to
him, and he softly replied, Beowulf . That was the last word I ever heard come out of my son s mouth.

The cost of living is a little below the national average, perhaps pushed up a bit by the high home

Just because Venice is more of a retirement community doesn t mean it is boring. Venice is also a
hotspot for scuba divers for the abundance of shark s teeth, seashells and fish that can be found in
Venice s waters. Every year, Venice even has a Shark s Tooth Festival in celebration. The city also has
some history in entertainment as well, as it was once the winter home for Ringling Brothers Barnum

A Critical Review Of 1901 Pauline Hopkin s Hagar Daughter
In his critical review of 1901 Pauline Hopkin s Hagar Daughter, Dr. Tuhkanen argues that this
sentimental fiction piece is a narrative of passing in multiple respects. Tuhkanen s analysis
complicates passing s conventional and simplistic discourse that singularly points to racial purity with
his consideration of multi level passing for national identity. He explores how racial passing is a
complex juggling of the social markers that shape national identity. Dr. Tuhkanen draws attention to
the nation s denial of racial hybridity in Hagar s Daughter: The passing characters are isomorphic
examples of the state of the Union. The nation itself is passing, unbeknownst to itself, as something
else than it claims to be (389). The twisted plot of Hagar s Daughter s mimics the jumbled nature of
identity itself and the tangled nature of the racial society during the nineteenth century. While
Tuhkanen looks in depth at passing as a network of multiple and perhaps disparate elements, the novel
also clearly employs the trope of double to facilitate not only the plot but also undermine the nation s
promoting discourse of race as a black white binary. Hopkins employs the doubleness of biological
identity, inheritance, and racial caricatures throughout her novel to construct the novel s commentary
on passing as it pertains to the nation s racial duality. Pauline Hopkins begins the story line twice, pre
Civil War and post Civil War. It begins with a short historical analysis detailing

Consequences Of Parental Divorce For Child Development
Economical: As divorce separates families, this situation can cause financial hardship on divorce
families as each household transition from two incomes to one. This reduced income can place
economic and financial struggles of single parents trying to support children. Separated parents are
now each responsible for individual housing, utilities, and various other expenses. With divorce, there
are high legal fees that result from the divorce proceedings and custody battles over children. These
economical issues can place additional stress on the families and children.
Developmental
Another potential impact of divorce on children can be seen through their development. The article,
Consequences of Parental Divorce for Child Development, by H. Kim (2011) reviews the impact of
divorce on children s development. This study compares children before and after divorce to measure
the implications towards development. This study found that children had setbacks in test scores,
interpersonal skills, were more likely to internalize behaviour (Kim, 2011). This study did not find any
external behaviour issues or reduced reading capability (Kim, 2011). This information demonstrates
the divorce issues can impact their learning abilities, which is something crucial to everyday life. The
developmental impacts can coincide with future learning abilities and academic achievement in some
children dealing with parental divorce.
Cognitive:
The impacts of divorce can also influence children s

Without a Name An Episode of War by Stephen Crane is a short story about a lieutenant in an
unnamed war during the late 1890s being shot during an everyday routine. While it is not out of the
ordinary to be shot during a war, a note sticks out: the gritty reality of war tends to glob soldiers of all
ranks together to form a nameless mass which Crane emphasizes. The lieutenant has no name, the war
has no name, the soldiers have no name, nothing. Everyone is a cog in the wheel and when one breaks,
they are quickly replaced. The narrative is driven by the lieutenant s actions to demonstrate Crane s
stylistic approach of American Realist. The American Realist movement is a focus on verisimilitude ...

Those coming back from battle are in high spirits for defeating the enemy but uncaring about those
wounded. However, Crane s world is one deeply rooted in how soldiers would behave in a realistic
fashion. An Episode of War by Stephen Crane proves to be a fantastic way to illustrate the stylistics of
the American Realist movement. The grit of the war and the formation of the blob army where each
person is indistinguishable from the next provides a realistic view on how wars were fought during
this time period. The way Crane shows off the world he creates is an intriguing fashion; a man
severely wounded walking around with a battle raging on while he is pumping full of adrenaline. An
Episode of War shows how a nameless character is capable of showing off a world with minimal
effort. Sources Cited

My First Class Is Not A Decision That I Have Taken
Returning to college to finish my degree is not a decision that I have taken lightly. When the
opportunity arose, I took a look at the big picture before deciding on classes in which I would enroll. It
had been ten years since I had attended a college class. Even though I was excited for some of the
technical classes afforded in my degree path, I also knew that strengthening my overall academic
foundation would play a much more important role; this is why I chose to take WRTG 101 as my first
class returning to school. I began WRTG 101 with unrefined writing skills; now I can properly apply
the writing process, construct unified and well supported paragraphs, demonstrate accurate grammar
and mechanics, and properly analyze and integrate valid sources using an accepted documentation
style. Approaching the initial writing assignment was difficult for me because it had been so long
since I had utilized and applied the writing process. Writing for Success played a very important role
in refreshing the writing process for me, and Chapter 1 set the stage for reestablishing my use of the
writing process. It felt infinitely easier to prewrite and revise for the contrast essay than it did for the
autobiography. Although the week one prewriting exercise helped ease me back into the prewriting
methods, it was not until the second essay that I found a prewriting style that worked for me; I actually
went back to Chapter 8 in Writing for Success to review different styles.

Combinations: You can use the crystals mentioned above in combination to address your specific

Observation Of A Soccer Field In Elementary School
Observation #1 For my first observation I observed my four year old nephew s soccer practice at an
elementary school which lasted about a half an hour. They met on the empty field at the elementary
school, there were about 3 other teams practicing at the same time but everyone was spread out. The
coaches set up cones and pop up goals for the children. There were about 12 15 children there, I think
they said a few kids weren t there. There were about four coaches or helpers working with the
children. The first thing they did with the kids was a few warm up activities, the first being some sort
of running activity where the children ran around following the coaches, next, they hopped in place
being silly. Then the kids each got a ball and began a kicking exercise were the had to go around and
try to kick the ball at the cones and knock them down. Then the kids got in a line with their ball and
followed the leader around while dribbling the ball with both feet. In the next activity, the children got

point, many of the children were in the pre control level of proficiency because for most it is their first
time playing soccer and I could definitely tell. There might have been a few activities where some
children where at control level but it was very minimal. For example, during the kicking exercise, it
was very hard for the kids to control where their ball was going.

Hester And Dimmesdale
The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne is a Romantic novel about two adulterers, Hester and
Dimmesdale, who are forced to live with the repercussions of their sin. Hester Prynne is punished by
wearing a scarlet A which ostracizes her from Puritan Boston, leading to several years of solitude.
During this time, Roger Chillingworth, her vengeful husband, preys on Dimmesdale, whose only
source of repent is in his hypocritical preachings. When Dimmesdale finally speaks to Hester again,
they plan to escape their wrongdoings by fleeing back to England, where they can live together as a
loving family with their daughter Pearl. Although some may argue that Hester and Dimmesdale are in
love, a closer examination of the novel shows that they are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

When Hester first traveled to the colonies, she was completely alone, and ...in two years, or less...no
tidings have come of this learned gentleman [her husband] (Hawthorne 55). Hester, as a Puritan
women, would have visited the church frequently, where she most likely first met Dimmesdale. This
young and attractive Reverend would have easily caught the eye of Hester during their countless
interactions in the church; she was particularly vulnerable, being alone in a new land, and her only
relationship was a false and unnatural relation (Hawthorne 66) with the man she left behind. This
desire for a companion was reflected in both Hester and Dimmesdale, as his only source of love was
in the churchgoers, and it eventually led to the ultimate malefaction: the act of adultery. Some may say
that Hester turning towards Dimmesdale during her time of seclusion constitutes love. However, it
only further proves that they more prominently felt lust, since both Dimmesdale and Hester
succumbed to their desires instead of listening to their religion and simply comforting one another.
True love can be defined not as physical comfort, but as being there for one in their time of

Metaphors In Ralph Ellison s Invisible Man
Metaphors in Invisible Man
Ellison uses many examples of metaphors in his novel to convey invisibility, especially with
references to music, imagery, and the use of a nameless character. With literature that challenged the
accepted ideals surrounding that time period, Ellison expresses his thoughts by comparing an invisible
man to various relatable subjects in life. When the narrator firsts starts on his journey and gets
constantly bumped, he states that You constantly wonder whether you aren t simply a phantom in
other people s minds (4). It draws a connection between the unknown emotions of an invisible man
and the empty, invisible image of a phantom. Ellison employs a common idea to convey to the readers

He portrays his vulnerability by comparing himself to a bird plucked of his feathers and ridiculed for
his devoted admiration of Bledsoe. According to Leon Forrest in The Critical Response to Ralph
Ellison edited by Robert J. Butler, the song mocks and thereby instructs him that each person must
constantly die, or shed the skin of his innocence, in order to grow (64). The narrator grows by
reflecting upon himself and throughout the novel, his character develops to understand his invisibility.
He claims Perhaps you ll think it is strange that an invisible man should need light, desire light, love
light. But maybe it is exactly because I am invisible. Light confirms my reality, gives birth to my form
(6). The light represents his own acknowledgement and self respect for his own identity, that allows
him to discard his desire for approval from society. The narrator represents the many African
Americans that learned to find their individual identity and black identity. Most importantly, Ellison s
use of a nameless character contributed greatly to his literary work. The story is told by the narrator,
who s name is never revealed throughout the book and represents a metaphoric invisibility. Ellison s
decision to withhold the main character s name maintains the idea of an ever changing

Describe The Causes And Effects Of Vitamin D
1.1 Vitamin D
Vitamin D is responsible for regulating the passage of calcium (Ca 2+ ) to the bones. Therefore, if
vitamin D is missing, this step does not occur and the bones begin to weaken and curl causing
irreversible malformations: rickets. This disease especially affects children.
Vitamin D plays an important role in the maintenance of organs and systems through multiple
functions, such as: the regulation of calcium and phosphorus levels in the blood, promoting the
intestinal absorption of them from food and reabsorption of calcium at the renal level. With this it
contributes to bone formation and mineralization, being essential for the development of the skeleton.
However, in very high doses, it can lead to bone resorption.
It also inhibits the secretions of parathyroid hormone (PTH) from the parathyroid gland and affects the
immune system due to its immunosuppressive role, promotion of phagocytosis and antitumor activity.
It is estimated that 1000 IU per day is the amount of vitamin D sufficient for a healthy adult
individual, whether male or female.
1.2.1 Mechanism
Vitamin D is a prohormone, so it has no hormonal activity by itself, but it is converted to the active
hormone (calcitriol) through a highly regulated synthesis mechanism. The synthesis of cholesterol in
the liver by means of Acetyl CoA is the first step, after several complex changes we reach an
intermediate called 7 dehydrocholesterol. When the UV rays have contact with the skin, this 7
dehydrocholesterol has transformations producing vitamin D3. This vitamin D3 is not biologically
active therefore must be subjected to two hydroxylations: the first in the liver forming 25
hydroxycholecalciferol (calcidiol) and the second in the kidney forming 1,25 dihydroxycholecalciferol
also called calcitriol (active form). Vitamin D2 follows the same process (without the need for UV
rays) to form 1,25 dihydroxiergocalciferol. 7 The production of vitamin D in nature, apparently
requires the presence of UV rays, even vitamin E in edible food is ultimately derived from organisms;
from mushrooms or fungi to animals, which cannot synthesize it except through the action of solar
rays, at some point in the synthetic chain. For example, fish contain vitamin

NFL Draft Bust
Professional sports leagues like the NFL, the NBA, and the NHL seen some amazing athletes come
out of the draft, especially top 5 picks. However, not every pick can be perfect, so there are often draft
busts. However, there are none bigger than Ryan Leaf, Greg Oden, and Rick DiPietro. Leaf, Oden, and
DiPietro are their respective sport s biggest draft bust, but who is the biggest draft bust of all time?
Ryan Leaf, a quarterback from Washington State, was the second overall pick in the 1998 NFL draft
by the San Diego Chargers. Leaf had a very promising three year college career. In his three years of
college, Leaf had a completion percentage of 53.8, 7,433 passing yards, and a 59:24 touchdown to
interception ratio. However, when he entered the NFL, his stats were completely altered in his three
year NFL career, and not in the good way. His completion percentage dropped to 48.4, compiling only
3,666 passing yards, and an awful 14:36 touchdown to interception ratio. Before he entered the NFL,
his passion for football was in question and retiring after three seasons, he proved that his passion for
the sport was never there. Taken after Leaf are multiple soon to be Hall of Famers, such as, Charles ...

found his mojo and signed a large contract. However, he, like Oden, was riddled with multiple injuries
and was not able to live up to his hype as the number one pick. His unsuccessful NHL career, he had a
2.87 goals against average and a .907 save percentage. DiPietro was taken ahead many players who

How Rainfall Affects Stalactites
DESCRIPTION OF DATA This is a column graph representing how the rainfall affects the stalactites
length. One of many reasons that show stalactites are going to fall apart is their length. The colour
yellow represents the stalactites length at the start of the year. The colour orange represents the
stalactites length after 6 months. This will include its rainfall activity. This is an example of secondary
data which I obtained from the Princess Margaret Rose Cave website. I chose this secondary data as I
would not have the time to collect and find the right lengths of the stalactites and this data really
reflects on the rainfalls effect on the stalactites formation. This data supports my key inquiry question

experience in answering questions. Princess Margaret Rose Cave knows a lot of information about its
location and stalactites. As they are an organisation I believe and many others believe that Princess

The Border Of The United States
The Unlawful border crossing in the U.S. Southern border has been of political interest for the past
decades. It has been the primary source of the illegal trades into U.S. from Mexico. Despite the
government efforts to end the act, there have not been long term solutions to the Menace. The vital
approach is to understand the structural nature of the border and the socio cultural nature of the
inhabitants that facilitates the illegal act across the border. The lawful bill in place seems not to offer a
practical solution to combating the problem. The existing border and immigration policies should be
revised to provide a possible settlement to the illegal trade across the borders. Also, the border barriers
should be adequately constructed and guarded with border security officials. Another crucial area for
consideration is the cooperation between the two countries in combating the illegal trade across the
border. A cross border initiative like Merida by President Bush would have been the significant
initiative in promoting the U.S. Mexico cross border collaboration in combating the Illegal Border
Crossings. Due to the well coordinated nature of these criminal networks, full federal cooperation like
Boarder Enforcement Security Taskforce (BEST) should act in combating the organized gangs.
Fixing the ruined southern border of the USA There has been an increase of unlawful border crossings
as well as the rise in cross border crimes such

conditions by which one is surrounded (Merriam Webster dictionary). Your environment greatly
impacts the way you are as a human being. Each and every one of your life experiences are influenced
by your environment. Your environment determines if or how your potential to develop is reached.

Your culture and heritage usually help determine many decisions you make in your future. For
example, most of the friends you make and keep will probably be of the same heritage and culture you
come from. The places you go, like church, celebrations, festivities, etc. are determined by your
cultural background. Multicultural influences can altar your relationships with family members as well
as impact your values and expectations for your future family. Odds are, if or when you have children
you will transfer those same beliefs and traditions that you are used to to them.
SCHOOL A quality school environment provides a setting that encourages students to learn and grow.
After school activities can provide chances for students to interact with others in clubs or sports. Class
curriculum offers courses that stimulate students intellectual growth. Teachers in a quality school
environment encourage students by helping them find areas in which they succeed. Teachers also help
students find areas in which they need to improve. By doing so, they help students know what
decisions to make regarding how to get the most efficient education for them and how they learn best,
especially when they get to college. PEERS By interacting with your peers you can make judgements

Essay On Public Broadcasting In Canada
Bringing Canadians Together
In 1991, Canada passed the broadcasting act in order to ensure that all media in Canada operates in
way that provides unbiased facts to all Canadians. Through this act the Canadian Government ensures
that all funds spent on financing public broadcasting in this fine nation goes to further developing our
culture, and creating a distinction between Canadian and American ways of life. Public broadcasting
see that each dollar spent on Canadian media solidifies a platform for Canadian identity to be built
upon, instead of allowing American broadcasters to flow uncompetitive in Canada. By paying for
media, the government also allows equal distribution of French language in the fourth estate. These
reasons are why it is crucial that the Canadian Government finances public broadcasting, because the
only way to meet Canadian standards is to create a Canadian industry who answers ... Show more

ensure that all predominant languages in Canada get equity in media. Private corporations won t put
the money into these languages because they won t get the return of money firm the smaller

poignant, every private corporation that thrives in today s age is about making money. It s not wrong,
it just is. Yet if the government pays for a public media source to make a movie in cree, or broadcast in

premise or another claim as proof. An example would be, Tabbies are cats because it is stylish like a

fallacy would be fixed by supporting the claim that is being used as proof. A closely related fallacy
would be the circular reasoning fallacy. An example of that would be, Tabbies are cats because it is a

Resource Depletion And Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Lifecycle Analysis
Background
The content of analysis will examine paper. It will look at the harvesting of the materials, production,
distribution, and finally the waste. This lifecycle analysis is to explain a consumer product s life from
production to waste. This is to show the environmental effects that the products has during its life
time. A few of the environmental impacts that will be focused on is resource depletion and greenhouse
gas emissions. These were chosen because of the chain reaction they can cause. Greenhouse gases are
known to be linked to climate change, which is a global problem so the impacts of these emissions are
on a very large scale. Resource depletion is another problem because more than one species rely on
forest. Therefore, the depletion of it is not only bad to humans but the other organisms that use it for
their survival. If this resource was to be completely used up, then it could lead to a loss of biodiversity
which could be bad for the local ecosystem. In addition, since some ecosystems are linked together the
loss of one could have a huge effect on another causing a domino effect. LCA Inventory Trees are a
good source of paper; there are other materials that can work but for the scope of this paper I ll only
focus on trees. As described in figure 1, the first step is to harvest the trees. To do this, usually heavy

  • 2. Saints Scholars And Schizophrenics Summary Saints, Scholars, and Schizophrenics is the ethnographic study of a small town of An Cloch an on the Dingle Peninsula in Ireland. Nancy Scheper Hughes lived in this small village in order to gain perspective to why there was such a large number of schizophrenic cases within Ireland, and also why such a large percent were unmarried males. She wanted to dissect the issue of why these individuals were so prone to schizophrenia and what cultural factors cause these high rates. Scheper Hughes interviewed both individuals in the village but also patients in the nearby mental institution. She relied heavily on thematic apperception tests and interviews for her conclusions. She found several cultural factors create an environment for high rates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The labeling theory explains how a community or culture defines deviant behavior, and the proper diagnosis to treating the individual. This can be seen in An Cloch an, where psychiatric problems are rarely made by the villager himself (Scheper Hughes 161). Although initial hospitalization is rarely in acted by the individual, the patient eventually internalizes his behavior as deviant and will identify himself as insane once institutionalized. However, the labeling theory can only be used within the definitions of the culture, since different cultures will define abnormal behavior differently. In the context of some Non Western cultures, symptoms of schizophrenia are praised, and those who may hear voices or hallucinate are deemed as spiritual, and given the role of prophet or shaman within the culture. Although schizophrenic symptoms are revered in some cultures, within Ireland there is not only a stigma to the patient, but to the family as well (Scheper Hughes 283).Scheper Hughes explains that schizophrenia is a family condition; to the extent where there is a pathology for the schizophrenic mothers . Defining the mothers of schizophrenic patients as obsessive, sexually and emotionally immature, repressed, guilt ridden and ignoring the needs and demands of their children (Scheper Hughes 257). This clinical diagnoses for mothers of schizophrenics only deepens the social stigmas, and created more resentment among the family members toward the patient. Not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Judaism has a long history; Jewish identity is a combination of this history as well as religious and ethnic variables. There are also several different ways to practice Judaism such as Orthodox, Reformed, Liberal, and Masorti. The Orthodo Jews often follow most strictly the laws and observances of Judaism and will often times send their child to privates Jewish schools at synagogues, therefore it is most likely that I would encounter students that practice as less strict form of Judaism (Chinn, Gollnick p.254). Abraham was later reunited with his family and made it his mission to convert everyone to his faith (Goldstein p. 49). Later, Abraham received a divine command to circumcise himself and all his male descendants with the promise that this would lead to future greatness. Shortly after Abraham had fulfilled this command he and his wife, Sarah, changed their names (previously Abram and Sarai). Name changing is an important Jewish custom as well and will be discussed later (Goldstein p. 50). Shortly after, their first son Isaac was born, and it is said that God tested Abraham by commanding him to kill his son. When Abraham was about to go through with the command the angel Gabriel stopped him (Goldstein p. 50 51). The Jewish people trace their ancestry to Abraham through his son Isaac (Abraham also had another son, Ishmael with a servant girl who the Muslims trace their ancestry) (Goldstein p. 54). • 4. Long Distance Moving Is Not Only Hard On The Body, And The... Long distance moving is not only hard on the body, and the mind, but the soul. That cloudy Thursday, I felt my soul beginning to crumble. I laid back in the passenger seat of our modest rust colored Toyota, barely listening to music playing over my headphones, mostly wallowing in my gentle throbs of weariness, and a stressful fear of prolonging the journey. I knew my mother felt the same way, from the way she clutched at the steering wheel, and from the way her sunken eyes looked for the next turn. It didn t help me, the fifteen year old city kid from Chicago, when we pulled off the Ohio Turnpike, to a smaller highway, to an even smaller one, to then exit next to a rusted out truck stop, and onto a small two lane road. Finally, my mom ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No distant wail of a siren. There wasn t even wind that night. Just plain, unadulterated, silence. I was alone with my thoughts. It was depressing. It was exciting. But most of all, it was frightening. It wasn t like this small town was any sort of final destination, I told myself. I had invested a lot of hope into the idea of a fresh start, but not all of it. I had that desperate teenage need to escape, and thought of Ohio as a place to get away. I thought of it as a new life. A place to get away from the cramped stairwells, up to cramped apartments. A place to get away from the display case of city life. A place to get away from the clouds, those clouds that filled the sky. And so what? I told myself. So what if this isn t the promised land? So what if you didn t know what you liked about that place until you lost it? It s still different, and It s still not a final destination, right? The next morning I awoke to find two men standing in the driveway. Their bloated stomachs hanging down over their belts. Torn, Beat, and ragged baseball were caps cocked back upon their not so closely shaved heads. The older one of the pair seemed to be letting himself in the front door, while the younger man examined the Toyota suspiciously. Mom. • 5. Microbial Regulation oin the Food Industry Microbiology Topic Paper: Microbial Regulation in the Food Industry Microorganisms have been involved I the development of food items throughout history. Although at first it may have not been intentional over time humans have study and experimented with culturing microbes to prolong the shelf life of foods, inadvertently changing the taste and textures of the food item as well. As safety concerns spread in the 1900s regulations were formed to ensure the safety and well being of humans. In the United States, the U.S. Food and Drug Admiration is the organization that determines the overall safeness of a food element. When Microbes are used in food they tend to fall under two types of categories in the FDA regulatory classifications. The first category would be the generally recognized as safe category or GRAS published as a proposed rule in 1997. Microbes considered GRAS fall under multiple definitions. If a microbe was utilized prior to 1958 as an additive with no apparent side effects and proven to be safe over time, it will fall under GRAS via being grandfathered in. Another way in which a microbe additive will be considered GRAS is through common knowledge. Common knowledge is the assumed awareness that experts have in knowing that a microbe is naturally in the development in the food process. For example if a microbe is naturally present in yogurt, such as S. thermophiles, then supplementary amounts of the same microbes being added to the yogurt ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Benefits Of Economic Globalization On South Africa Essay GVPT200 Essay II South Africa has reaped the benefits of economic globalization first hand as it has emerged to become a major economic power in Africa, especially in recent years. This country has been infamously plagued by apartheid, an inhumane policy of segregation based on grounds of race, which also had economic consequences as trade sanctions were established in 1986 by the United States in response to South Africa s policy of apartheid. However, apartheid ended in the 1990s and the South African Development Community was created in 1992 in order to promote economic development through free trade zones in other regions in Africa. South Africa also signed free trade agreements with other regions, including Europe. I am interested in analyzing South Africa from 1991 when severe trade sanctions imposed against South Africa were repealed by the United States to 2010 when South Africa became part of the esteemed BRICS countries, a major indication of global economic success. The independent variable is therefore economic globalization, stimulated by the rescinding of the punitive trade sanctions by the United States in 1991, while the dependent variable is whether South Africa has done better or worse since 1991 when it became more connected to the global economy. The indicators for the independent variable are the number of level of trade barriers, the repeal of Comprehensive Anti Apartheid Act, openness to free trade and free trade agreements, exports, and ... However, in relation to the topic of this paper, Jarvis will be the example that is being brought into attention. Jarvis is not a person, rather it is a computer system with the ability to control any machine it is linked to. In fact the name Jarvis is an acronym J.A.R.V.I.S that stands for Just A Rather Very Intelligent System. Attention should be drawn to the fact that Jarvis; rather than simply shutting down, goes to sleep, Tony Stark refers to him as a buddy, which is slang for friend and Jarvis has a sense of humor! This exemplifies the level of human capacity that the computer has. Hediger agrees when he writes, Trifling disturbances may occur, for the simple reason that certain innate behavior pattern, adapted for life in freedom, cannot develop properly under conditions of captivity, or be brought into play, through lack of appropriate stimuli (pg. 29). Basically, Hediger is warning us that putting animals in captivity for our personal pleasure can harm them in many ways besides physically. Writing in the journal, Social and Cultural Geography, Rebekah Fox states that, we need to recognize the continuity of all life forms and value beings for their own intrinsic worth, autonomy and difference rather than on the basis of their similarity to humans (pg. 527). In other words, Fox believes that humans see animals as having both humanistic qualities and having their natural instinct. However, we need to see all animals as having their own worth, and that no species are the same. Although Fox does not say so directly, she apparently assumes that humans create these humanistic qualities of the animal they are spending time with, with their own qualities. Fox agrees when she writes, readings tend to essentialize animal actions into supposed biological behavior, such as the pack instinct in dogs, and ignore animal agency and individual interaction (pg. 529). The essence of Foxs argument is that some literature focuses on the animal s natural instinct instead of the empathy and individualistic traits they have. While some people rarely admit as much similarity we have with animals, they often take for granted that humans have the same natural instinct to want to protect their young and defend against predators. Realizing the similarities humans have with animals the public needs to be more concerned about the tourism industry and how it greatly affects animals lives. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This paper intends to describe the application of my own creative process and transformative experiences during the stages of work from creation to completion of an original body of sculptural artwork. Secondarily, providing analysis and interpretation of the relationship to the theories of creativity that have been studied throughout this course. I will be using the concept of self awareness found in Maslow s hierarchy of needs (Runco, 2014) and the concept of self observation as a form of measurement and as the primary research method. The result of this concentration aims to demonstrate the generation and connection of new knowledge that deepened my understanding of creativity in the context of the person, process, place, and product. There are many definitions, from many people of what creativity is and what it is not. It only seems logical to start with my own definition for a sequential frame of reference. I believe that creativity is having vision and exercising cognitive processes that when combined with personality traits, influential experiences, environments, and learned skillsets generate original ideas by an individual. That is a synthesis of three of the five creativity research paradigms: person, process, and place, summarized in Creativity: Theories and Themes: Research, Development, and Practice. (Runco et.al, 2014) This is my vision. Before starting this course, I had been thinking about the possibility of creating sculptures that intertwine art with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. A Critical Review Of 1901 Pauline Hopkin s Hagar Daughter In his critical review of 1901 Pauline Hopkin s Hagar Daughter, Dr. Tuhkanen argues that this sentimental fiction piece is a narrative of passing in multiple respects. Tuhkanen s analysis complicates passing s conventional and simplistic discourse that singularly points to racial purity with his consideration of multi level passing for national identity. He explores how racial passing is a complex juggling of the social markers that shape national identity. Dr. Tuhkanen draws attention to the nation s denial of racial hybridity in Hagar s Daughter: The passing characters are isomorphic examples of the state of the Union. The nation itself is passing, unbeknownst to itself, as something else than it claims to be (389). The twisted plot of Hagar s Daughter s mimics the jumbled nature of identity itself and the tangled nature of the racial society during the nineteenth century. While Tuhkanen looks in depth at passing as a network of multiple and perhaps disparate elements, the novel also clearly employs the trope of double to facilitate not only the plot but also undermine the nation s promoting discourse of race as a black white binary. Hopkins employs the doubleness of biological identity, inheritance, and racial caricatures throughout her novel to construct the novel s commentary on passing as it pertains to the nation s racial duality. Pauline Hopkins begins the story line twice, pre Civil War and post Civil War. It begins with a short historical analysis detailing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Consequences Of Parental Divorce For Child Development Economical: As divorce separates families, this situation can cause financial hardship on divorce families as each household transition from two incomes to one. This reduced income can place economic and financial struggles of single parents trying to support children. Separated parents are now each responsible for individual housing, utilities, and various other expenses. With divorce, there are high legal fees that result from the divorce proceedings and custody battles over children. These economical issues can place additional stress on the families and children. Developmental Another potential impact of divorce on children can be seen through their development. The article, Consequences of Parental Divorce for Child Development, by H. Kim (2011) reviews the impact of divorce on children s development. This study compares children before and after divorce to measure the implications towards development. This study found that children had setbacks in test scores, interpersonal skills, were more likely to internalize behaviour (Kim, 2011). This study did not find any external behaviour issues or reduced reading capability (Kim, 2011). This information demonstrates the divorce issues can impact their learning abilities, which is something crucial to everyday life. The developmental impacts can coincide with future learning abilities and academic achievement in some children dealing with parental divorce. While it is not out of the ordinary to be shot during a war, a note sticks out: the gritty reality of war tends to glob soldiers of all ranks together to form a nameless mass which Crane emphasizes. The lieutenant has no name, the war has no name, the soldiers have no name, nothing. Everyone is a cog in the wheel and when one breaks, they are quickly replaced. The narrative is driven by the lieutenant s actions to demonstrate Crane s stylistic approach of American Realist. The American Realist movement is a focus on verisimilitude ... The grit of the war and the formation of the blob army where each person is indistinguishable from the next provides a realistic view on how wars were fought during this time period. The way Crane shows off the world he creates is an intriguing fashion; a man severely wounded walking around with a battle raging on while he is pumping full of adrenaline. When the opportunity arose, I took a look at the big picture before deciding on classes in which I would enroll. It had been ten years since I had attended a college class. Even though I was excited for some of the technical classes afforded in my degree path, I also knew that strengthening my overall academic foundation would play a much more important role; this is why I chose to take WRTG 101 as my first class returning to school. • 21. Observation Of A Soccer Field In Elementary School Observation #1 For my first observation I observed my four year old nephew s soccer practice at an elementary school which lasted about a half an hour. They met on the empty field at the elementary school, there were about 3 other teams practicing at the same time but everyone was spread out. The coaches set up cones and pop up goals for the children. There were about 12 15 children there, I think they said a few kids weren t there. There were about four coaches or helpers working with the children. The first thing they did with the kids was a few warm up activities, the first being some sort of running activity where the children ran around following the coaches, next, they hopped in place being silly. Then the kids each got a ball and began a kicking exercise were the had to go around and try to kick the ball at the cones and knock them down. Then the kids got in a line with their ball and followed the leader around while dribbling the ball with both feet. In the next activity, the children got to practice kicking a stationary ball into the goal. After that, they played a 7 min practice game. At this point, many of the children were in the pre control level of proficiency because for most it is their first time playing soccer and I could definitely tell. There might have been a few activities where some children where at control level but it was very minimal. For example, during the kicking exercise, it was very hard for the kids to control where their ball was going. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hester Prynne is punished by wearing a scarlet A which ostracizes her from Puritan Boston, leading to several years of solitude. During this time, Roger Chillingworth, her vengeful husband, preys on Dimmesdale, whose only source of repent is in his hypocritical preachings. When Dimmesdale finally speaks to Hester again, they plan to escape their wrongdoings by fleeing back to England, where they can live together as a loving family with their daughter Pearl. When Hester first traveled to the colonies, she was completely alone, and ...in two years, or less...no tidings have come of this learned gentleman [her husband] (Hawthorne 55). Hester, as a Puritan women, would have visited the church frequently, where she most likely first met Dimmesdale. This young and attractive Reverend would have easily caught the eye of Hester during their countless interactions in the church; she was particularly vulnerable, being alone in a new land, and her only relationship was a false and unnatural relation (Hawthorne 66) with the man she left behind. This desire for a companion was reflected in both Hester and Dimmesdale, as his only source of love was in the churchgoers, and it eventually led to the ultimate malefaction: the act of adultery. Some may say that Hester turning towards Dimmesdale during her time of seclusion constitutes love. However, it only further proves that they more prominently felt lust, since both Dimmesdale and Hester succumbed to their desires instead of listening to their religion and simply comforting one another. • 23. Metaphors In Ralph Ellison s Invisible Man Metaphors in Invisible Man Ellison uses many examples of metaphors in his novel to convey invisibility, especially with references to music, imagery, and the use of a nameless character. With literature that challenged the accepted ideals surrounding that time period, Ellison expresses his thoughts by comparing an invisible man to various relatable subjects in life. When the narrator firsts starts on his journey and gets constantly bumped, he states that You constantly wonder whether you aren t simply a phantom in other people s minds (4). It draws a connection between the unknown emotions of an invisible man and the empty, invisible image of a phantom. Ellison employs a common idea to convey to the readers of the African American ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He portrays his vulnerability by comparing himself to a bird plucked of his feathers and ridiculed for his devoted admiration of Bledsoe. According to Leon Forrest in The Critical Response to Ralph Ellison edited by Robert J. Butler, the song mocks and thereby instructs him that each person must constantly die, or shed the skin of his innocence, in order to grow (64). The narrator grows by reflecting upon himself and throughout the novel, his character develops to understand his invisibility. He claims Perhaps you ll think it is strange that an invisible man should need light, desire light, love light. But maybe it is exactly because I am invisible. Light confirms my reality, gives birth to my form (6). The light represents his own acknowledgement and self respect for his own identity, that allows him to discard his desire for approval from society. The narrator represents the many African Americans that learned to find their individual identity and black identity. Most importantly, Ellison s use of a nameless character contributed greatly to his literary work. The story is told by the narrator, who s name is never revealed throughout the book and represents a metaphoric invisibility. • 24. Describe The Causes And Effects Of Vitamin D 1.1 Vitamin D Vitamin D is responsible for regulating the passage of calcium (Ca 2+ ) to the bones. Therefore, if vitamin D is missing, this step does not occur and the bones begin to weaken and curl causing irreversible malformations: rickets. This disease especially affects children. Vitamin D plays an important role in the maintenance of organs and systems through multiple functions, such as: the regulation of calcium and phosphorus levels in the blood, promoting the intestinal absorption of them from food and reabsorption of calcium at the renal level. With this it contributes to bone formation and mineralization, being essential for the development of the skeleton. However, in very high doses, it can lead to bone resorption. It also inhibits the secretions of parathyroid hormone (PTH) from the parathyroid gland and affects the immune system due to its immunosuppressive role, promotion of phagocytosis and antitumor activity. It is estimated that 1000 IU per day is the amount of vitamin D sufficient for a healthy adult individual, whether male or female. 1.2.1 Mechanism Vitamin D is a prohormone, so it has no hormonal activity by itself, but it is converted to the active hormone (calcitriol) through a highly regulated synthesis mechanism. The synthesis of cholesterol in the liver by means of Acetyl CoA is the first step, after several complex changes we reach an intermediate called 7 dehydrocholesterol. When the UV rays have contact with the skin, this 7 dehydrocholesterol has transformations producing vitamin D3. This vitamin D3 is not biologically active therefore must be subjected to two hydroxylations: the first in the liver forming 25 hydroxycholecalciferol (calcidiol) and the second in the kidney forming 1,25 dihydroxycholecalciferol also called calcitriol (active form). Vitamin D2 follows the same process (without the need for UV rays) to form 1,25 dihydroxiergocalciferol. 7 The production of vitamin D in nature, apparently requires the presence of UV rays, even vitamin E in edible food is ultimately derived from organisms; from mushrooms or fungi to animals, which cannot synthesize it except through the action of solar rays, at some point in the synthetic chain. For example, fish contain vitamin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It has been the primary source of the illegal trades into U.S. from Mexico. Despite the government efforts to end the act, there have not been long term solutions to the Menace. The vital approach is to understand the structural nature of the border and the socio cultural nature of the inhabitants that facilitates the illegal act across the border. The lawful bill in place seems not to offer a practical solution to combating the problem. The existing border and immigration policies should be revised to provide a possible settlement to the illegal trade across the borders. Also, the border barriers should be adequately constructed and guarded with border security officials. Another crucial area for consideration is the cooperation between the two countries in combating the illegal trade across the border. A cross border initiative like Merida by President Bush would have been the significant initiative in promoting the U.S. Mexico cross border collaboration in combating the Illegal Border Crossings. Due to the well coordinated nature of these criminal networks, full federal cooperation like Boarder Enforcement Security Taskforce (BEST) should act in combating the organized gangs.
