Anthropologists Should Put More Emphasis On Individual...
Anthropologists should put more emphasis on individual differences and meanings that are not
shared. Culture is composed of individuals. We know that the individual is an important part of
any culture because cultures are not uniform they differ from one another and they differ from
themselves over time. This difference is a product of the inherent uniqueness of the individuals
who compose a culture and no science that claims to study culture could be considered a true
science if it ignored the building blocks of the subject it is studying. Clifford Geertz shares his
views on culture in his essay, Thick Description: Toward an Interpretive Theory of Culture
(1973), he views culture in a sort of public act in which people express themselves using various
signs and symbols which have suggested cultural meaning far from an abstract psychological
construct. Culture is embodied in the person who acts in a certain context and culture is revealed
in this person s actions and his interpretation of their meaning. Culture in this sense is concrete and
public, and not something which exists in people s individual minds. In my opinion, how each
individual perceives their history is an art of construction. History by definition is the whole series
of past events connected with a particular person or a past characterized by a particular thing
(Dictionary.com n.d.). History is what it is at this present time because of people, the actions and
decisions each individual has made

Organic Farming Produces Organic Food
Eat it if you can Pronounce It The word Organic can be defined in multiple ways but what the word
basically means that the product is derived from living matter. Organic farming produces organic
food. The goal is to encourage soil and water conservation, reduce pollution, and constrain
conventional methods to fertilize and control weeds. According to the U.S Food and Drug
Administration The term organic is not defined by law or regulations FDA enforces. Foods that are
organic does not necessarily mean that they are healthy. There are organically refined unhealthy
foods such as wholesome branded cane sugar and Applegate branded pork sausages products that
are labeled as organic but is obviously not the healthiest choice. Labeling a food product as organic
does not make consumption completely healthy for infants. Drug Administration Organic produce
derives from farming involving growth without using any type of genetically modified organisms,
synthetic fertilizers, sewage, and pesticides. When meat products are organically refined the
animals the meat comes from do not receive any antibiotics or hormones that manipulate growth
increase. The department of the United States government that is responsible for programming
anything related to food, agriculture and nutrition (USDA) defines organic as food produced by
farmers who emphasize the use of renewable resources and the conservation of soil and water to
enhance environmental quality for future generations.

Alice Hoffman Biography Essay example
Be careful what you wish for. I know that for a fact. Wishes are brutal, unforgiving things. They
burn your tongue the moment they re spoken and you can never take them back. Alice Hoffman
(Alice Hoffman Quotes, 2014). Alice Hoffman was born on March 16th, 1952 in New York City,
New York. She grew up in Long Island, New York and graduated in 1969 from high school
(Biography, 2014). Her parents got divorced when she was young, but they both worked and
attended college, and out of their neighborhood, they were the only people that attended college (O
Hara, 2014). Alice Hoffmanattended two different colleges during her time in school. She attended

(O Hara, 2014). Alice Hoffman uses this belief to make her writing better. She will write a book
that has something to do with the phobia or tragedy that she is going through at the moment,
such as treatment for cancer. Alice Hoffman also uses tragedies that happen in America, such as
9/11, as a way to write books. This writing technique that she uses helped her most popular book
get that title. Alice Hoffman s most popular book is The Dovekeepers (Biography, 2014). During
the process of writing this book, Hoffman found that writing helped her during chemotherapy
and while she was sick during her treatment time (O Hara, 2014). Hoffman would often write
during this time to make her feel better. Due to her focusing on writing so much as an exit of
treatment and sickness, Hoffman came out with a book that was beautiful, harrowing, a major
contribution to the twenty first century literature (The Dovekeepers Synopsis, 2014). Also, The
Dovekeepers is believed to be ambitious and mesmerizing (The Dovekeepers Synopsis, 2014),
which is why it is thought to have been so popular. This book is set in Ancient Israel. In 70 CE,
nine hundred Jews held out for months against armies of Romans on a mountain in the Judean,
desert, Masada. Only two women and five children survived. (The Dovekeepers Synopsis, 2014).
The Dovekeepers is based off of this event that occurred. In the book, four women meet in the
desperate days of the siege. All are dovekeepers, and all

Thomas Paine And America A Prophecy
Thomas Paine and America a Prophecy William Blake, poet of the Romantic Era, wrote in 1793
the prophetic story America a Prophecy. The story begins with Orc breaking the chains that held
him down and sexually assaulting a young woman that has been taking care of him. The woman is
revealed to represent America and that she has been waiting for Orc to help her. Soon Orc and
other colonies under British rule attack the Prince of Albion and King George III. Alongside Orc
are historical figures such as; George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Painewho fight
for the liberty of their country. The story ends with Orc liberating America from tyrannical rule and
influencing other countries to rebel.
The mention of Thomas Paine s in the prophetic story is not coincidental, as he and Blake were
involved with one another in real life. I believe that by having Thomas Paine appear in the
prophecy shows the importance of Paine s work to the American Revolution and Blake s own
political views and writing. I will analyze the text of America a Prophecy to have a better
understanding of the prophetic book and then give historical context to Thomas Paine s work
and beliefs. By doing this I will finally analyze the two writers and see where Blake s America a
Prophecy, and Paine s own work, specifically Rights of Man, agree and differ from one another.
In America a Prophecy, Blake has mixed his own mythology with historical figures and events.
Orc is a positive figure in Blake s

What Is The Use Of Symbolism In Beginning Again, By Franz...
In his poem, Beginning Again, Franz Wright uses acute forms of symbolism to convey a
collective human desire to become better. It is common to have experiences in life where there
is a desire, after self realization, for a new start as a better person. In fantasy, an improved
version of one s self would not be plagued with issues, rather they are idealized as being carefree
and composed. The idea of future improvement, in combination with the macabre chaos caused by
Wright s use of symbolism, intensify the relatability of the poem. From the poem s first line, If I
could stop talking, completely cease talking for a year, I might begin to get well, it is evident that
the narrator has had past trouble with his mouth. This reiterates

Some say they see poetry in my paintings; I see only science.
Georges Seurat
Before the development of digital cameras even well known artists used pixels to create some of
todays famous works of art. The relation between digital pixels and the artistic style of pointillism
is almost self explanatory, both use small dots of colour to create larger pieces of art. The painting
style of pointillism can be explained by using dots of pure colour close together in a pattern to
create a full image using optical blending. For example by painting a red and blue dot close
together and having the viewer farther away their eyes will blend the two separate colours as violet
rather than the individual red and blue. Pointillism, otherwise known as neo impressionism ... Show

Tropez painted in 1893 is Paul Signac s most famous painting, capturing a perfect balance of sky,
earth and sea. In the center of the canvas is a huge umbrella pine painted deep green with bright
colours of light reflecting off the pine needles. The background of The Bonaventure Pine in St.
Tropez is a combination of many colours; blue, green, white, yellow, and orange. In the landscape
behind the pine tree the viewer can see a cloudy sky, mountains, and two boats sailing on the sea.
Everything in the background is painted in lighter colours to bring the illusion of depth onto the
canvas, while everything in the foreground from the path along the bottom right corner and the
grass below the tree are painted vibrantly. This painting can be found in the Museum Of Fine Arts

Mood is a temporary state of mind or feeling. All of us have different moods, based off the events

Essay on Shifting Efficiency
Shifting Efficiency
One of the most important and life altering inventions in history is the creation of the automobile.
The first model was built with a manual transmission, meaning the operator of the vehicle was
responsible for manually changing gears to increase speed. This method of acceleration, while
efficient, required the complete attention of the operator, and it sometimes took away the enjoyment
of driving. This led to the invention of the automatic transmission, a method by which the operator
of the vehicle no longer had to switch gears, as this was done automatically. Since the development
of the automatic transmission, there has always been conflict about which method of acceleration
is more efficient.
Driving a vehicle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When using a standard, learning how to create the equilibrium of letting one foot off the clutch and
pressing the other on the gas pedal in first gear could take a while to master. An automatic car,
with the process of driving in first gear taken care of magically to most people, is much simpler
and less time consuming to learn. All a person has to do is put the gear shift in drive and press on
the gas pedal.
The final question of efficiency lies within the problem of figuring out which type of transmission
is better when racing. In this area, the manual transmission becomes the popular choice, compared
to the automatic. An automatic does not give the driver the freedom to shift gears when desired, as
this is sometimes necessary when shift variation is a key element to winning a race. The manual
transmission allows the driver to choose when it is necessary to shift gears, sometimes giving the
racer an edge over someone who is racing with an automatic car. Even though an automatic
transmission takes the work out of driving something most people are thankful for, given that some
could never handle the task of shifting manually, the standard has its own advantages also.
The decision about which transmission is more efficient may never be reached, given the
advantages and disadvantages of each. It really depends on the person who buys the car and what
it will be

Causes Of Residential Schools
What was the cause of having residential schools made? Who did the native people wrong to
deserve such discriminatory and harsh treatment? To begin with, we have the causes for the
government to open residential schools. It all began with Sir John A. Macdonald who funded
residential schools because he thought that the aboriginal people were not civilized enough to
live in a modern society. The government, wanted aboriginal people to learn how to read and
write because they thought the aboriginals were savages . Sir John A. Mac Donald said this
because he did not like the way native people have been taught, or their culture, and beliefs.
Residential schools were established so native children could be more successful if the school
taught the children the main stream Canadian curriculum. This curriculum consisted of learning
Christianity as well as how to speak English or French. They did this so native kids can better
understand the Canadian culture, by speaking in another language. The first residential school for
the aboriginal people was established near Quebec City, where Catholic missionaries aimed to
civilize aboriginal boys. Parents didn t want to send their children to the residential schools, Kids
sometimes tried to run away. Similar attempts were made by protestant missionaries in the Atlantic
and in the Red River area but also failed. After that we have the cause of the treatment of
residential schools. Teacher were often poorly trained; few children received

Identification means the steps needed in the analysis of unknown fluids to see what the
substance is ( Biology, 2016). Individualization determines whether a certain individual may or

Processing biological trace evidence uses highly complex, automated technology to create a
DNA profile that helps the investigators through the association of suspects to victims and to
crime scenes ( Biology Services, 2017). By using techniques such as polymerase chain reaction
(PCR), forensic biologists can use variable markers found on the regular chromosomes (STR s),
the sex chromosomes (Y STR s) and within the mitochondrial DNA to distinguish one person s
DNA from another to a high degree of certainty ( Biology, 2016). Forensic biologists are involved

from Bernardo as a matter of routine to test it against specimens found on a rape victim s clothing

Examples Of Irony In The Princess And The Tin Box
Authors Purpose in Using Irony Essay
Imagine a person wearing a medal for the fastest sprinter in the world has a speedometer attached
to him. He is getting ready to sprint in a 100 meter race. Two seconds after the whistle blows and
he takes off, his speedometer reads 1 mph. That was unexpected, which is the whole point of irony.
Irony is found in many stories. Although readers may think irony used in stories are for temporary
effects of the moment it is read, the author has a bigger purpose than just enhancing their story. The
authors of The Sniper , Liam O Flaherty, and The Princess and the Tin Box , James Thurber, utilize
situational irony to present the moral of each story.
Thurber uses situational irony in The Princess and the Tin Box to mock how decisions made by
princesses in fairy tales are illogical. On the princess eighteenth birthday, her father commands that
she would choose the best gift amongst five princes, and marry the prince that brought the gift she
chose. The first four princes brought gifts made completely out of jewels. The fifth and final
prince was unique, as he brought the princess a small tin box made of gravel. As the other
princes laughed at such a gift, the princess examined it with great interest and squealed with
delight, for all her life she has been glutted with precious stones and priceless metals but she had
never seen tin before or mica or feldspar or hornblende (Thurber 2). In most fairytales, the
princess would choose the unique gift. The quote shows that the princess in this parody does
consider the fifth prince s gift. Thurber is setting his readers up to believe she will choose the
fifth prince s gift. However, his situational irony is executed when the princess chooses the third
prince s gift: a platinum and sapphire jewel box. The princess provides her reasoning by stating,
It is a very large and expensive box, and when I am married, I will meet many admirers who will
give me precious gems with which to fill it to the top. Therefore, it is the most valuable of all the
gifts my suitors have brought me, and I like it the best (Thurber 2). If she were to choose the tin
box, it would not have added to her wealth. A jewel box made out of platinum and

Granville Hicks notes how war leaves soldiers disillusioned and, The terrible destruction of
Dresden is... an example of the way the military mind operates (Hicks 602 603). Pilgrim sees the
trivialities of war, while exhibiting disdain for other aspects in life; this demonstrates the effect war
had on him. In Novels for Students, Kurt VonnegutJr. speaks about how the bombing of Dresden
made the terrain look like the moon, Pilgrim noticed that Nobody talked much as the expedition
crossed the moon. There was nothing appropriate to say. One thing was clear: Absolutely
everybody in the city was supposed to be dead, regardless of what they were, and that anybody
that moved in it represented a flaw in the design (Vonnegut 260). The soldiers, left speechless at
the carnage, Pilgrim states that We had been foolish virgins in the war, right at the end of
childhood... you ll be played in the movies by Frank Sinatra and John Wayne or some of those
other glamorous, war loving, dirty old men. And war will look just wonderful, so we ll have a lot
more of them (Vonnegut 18). War lost all glamourous appeals; the monotonous task of fighting in
the military wore on Billy Pilgrim and made him question his participation in the war. The
alienating experience of war separates soldiers from everyday people; civilians never see the
horrors of war, they never see the casualties and deaths, they never suffer from the traumas of war.

Examples Of Cheating
Cheating, people do it, but what about the penalties that are given to the people who are caught?
People cheat on many things: school, sports, and, but not limited to, relationships. But there are
many ways to cheat in those multiple examples, like in sports cheating can happen with: drugs,
academic eligibility, or even through recruiting. With all the sports the focus could be on, college
basketball seems to have the easiest examples of cheating. What makes college basketball coaches
break the rules, is it worth the penalty?
Roy Williams has had an unproven history of not obeying the academic rules, but he was
actually caught in 2004. One of his players, Rashad McCants, recently came out and said Roy
did cheat. Rashad McCants, a North Carolina basketball player from 2002 2005 was one of the
leading scores on the 2005 National Champion UNC team, who said he participated in Roy
Williams academic scandal. He was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves and then ended up
being unsigned in the league by the year 2009, admitted to taking bogus classes designed to help
athletes stay academically eligible (Delsohn). Rashad McCants is the only person who came out
against Roy Williams in the academic scandal. The classes Rashad McCants referred to recently
were exposed in his interview with Steve Delsohn, a writer for ESPN. The class was a paper

This paper examines the relative importance of 38 factors in the leverage decisions of publicly

effect on leverage), market to book ratio ( ), collateral (+), bankruptcy risk as measured by

To address this serious concern the effect of conditioning on п¬Ѓrm circumstances is studied. We
do п¬Ѓnd reliable empirical patterns.3 From a set of 38 factors that have been used in the
literature, seven have reliable relationships to corporate leverage. Firms that compete in industries
in which the median п¬Ѓrm has high leverage tend also to have high leverage. Firms that have
high levels of sales tend to have high leverage. Firms that have more collateral tend to have more
leverage. When inflation is expected to be high firms tend to have high leverage. Firms that
have a high risk of bankruptcy, as measured by Altman s Z score, have low leverage. Firms that
pay dividends tend to have lower leverage than do п¬Ѓrms that do not pay dividends. Finally
п¬Ѓrms that have a high market to book ratio tend to have low levels of leverage. These seven
factors account for more than 30% of the variation in leverage, while then remaining 31 factors
only add a further 6%. These seven factors have very consistent sign and statistical significance
across many alternative treatments of the data. The remaining factors are not nearly as consistent.
All seven of the reliable factors have signs that are predicted by the trade off theory of leverage.
Market timing theory makes correct predictions for the market to book and inflation variables.

Explain Anslem s Ontological Argument
730012506 PHIL 134H Paper # 1 Anselm s Ontological Argument Eleventh century French
monk, Anslem of Catenbury, offered a deductive argument proving the existence of God. In
order to truly grasp the argument, we must first attempt to understand the philosopher and his
own ideologies. Anslem preludes his proof by stating his profound faith in God, consequently
affirming that it is only through God s enlightening that his understanding can reach as high as
God. He also adds that he who says in his heart that there is no God is a fool, per the Bible.
Anslem s argument is based greatly on what he understands to be the nature of God s being that
than which nothing greater can be conceived. The deductive argument simply put goes as
follows: 1.God is the greatest thing we can think of. 2.Things can exist only in our imaginations,
or they can also exist is reality. 3.Things that exist in reality are always better than things that
exist only in our imaginations. 4.If God existed only in our imaginations, he wouldn t be the
greatest things that we can think of because God in reality would be better. Therefore, God must
exist in reality. Although the logic in Anslem s appears to be flawless, the proof s rate of
converting non believers into believers is very low if not zero. Even those who are believers aren t
convinced by the proof, as in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We know the statement all plants are edible is false, so the rest of the argument, no matter how
logical, cannot be true. Anslem gets his inspiration to define God from his faith and sets it as the

from hypothesis to theory without any proof. Additionally, the greatest is extremely vague, such so
that he is able to later accommodate the definition in his reply to the counter argument proposed,

What Is Intelligence Anyway Book Report
What is intelligence anyway?
This autobiography was written by Doctor Isaac Asimov who wanted to hint us on what
intelligence really is. When the doctor went to get his car fixed, he was asked a riddle by the
auto repair man and got it wrong. The doctor was very smart and the auto repair man knew it
too, yet he was sure that he would trick the doctor because the doctor was too educated. It was
true and even the doctor knew it. He was smart by the standards of education but there are
different types of being smart like being street smart. He was so educated that he had no
experiences with things like riddles which may have been common sense to others. The strength of
the passage was being an autobiography with real personal experiences while the weakness was the
lack of explanation about how the doctor was lacking in intelligence.

my report. Those studies included, but not limited to: Health Policy and Financing; Leadership in
Clinical Microsystems; Global Health and Diversity; and Health Policy, Law, Ethics and
Regulations. In Addition to that knowledge, the marketing skills have been helpful for preparing
the report. In sum; the courses I took at SNHU have considerably helped me to appropriately
prepare the capstone project.
All of those skills and knowledge are helping me in my workplace. For example, I have learned
from the Healthcare Informatics study, the concept of EMR and EHR and their meaningful use in
health care settings. Through that concept; nowadays, I have a solid EMR user in my workplace. I
will apply that concept in my future high position in the healthcare organizations here in the USA

Pro Life Vs Pro Choice Research Paper
There has been much controversy regarding the social, ethical, and medical predicament that
abortion provokes. Abortion is the procedure of ending a pregnancy with the early removal of a
fetus. There is no right or wrong when it comes to abortion; values contribute a great amount to
an individual s opinion. This process has led to numerous debates among individuals who
believe that it is up to a woman to decide what to do with her body and the individuals who hold
that women do not have the right to take away a life. Although it may seem as if the beliefs of
pro life and pro choice advocates are on opposite sides of a spectrum, the two sides can come to
an agreement about how to at least lessen the number of abortions occurring. Pro choice
advocates debate that women should have independence in regards to what they choose to do
with their own bodies. These advocates point to the Constitution to support their decision
because in 1973 the landmark decision of Roe v. Wade established that a woman s right to
abortion is protected by her constitutional right of privacy ( 30 Days: Pro Choice/ Pro Life ). This
pertains to freedom of choice. It seems as though a pro choice supporter would argue that since the
fetus is inside a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Jennifer speaks to Dr. Donald Smith (a pro life supporter) about his views on abortion, he
argues that an individual human life begins at the moment of fertilization.. in other words if you
understood that you killed another human being, that wouldn t change your mind? ( 30 Days ).
Since pro life supporters believe that life begins at fertilization, it is reasonable to relate getting
rid of a pregnancy to intentionally killing an individual. Killing an individual is an act of crime,
therefore a pro choice activist may view a woman choosing to go through abortion as a criminal.
Supporters of this perspective can agree that the unborn baby also has

E Books And E Ink Readers
E books and e ink readers have a number of weaknesses when compared to a more traditional
paper book. Most of these are addressed by the Kindle in one way or another but one of them that
had not yet been addressed was the ability to loan books. One of the great things about owning a
great book is recommending it to friends and letting them read it. Amazon has made a first step
towards fixing that problem though it is not a perfect first step. First is understanding what you can
do. Amazon will allow you to loana Kindle book for 14 days. During that time you will not be able
to read the book yourself. In addition you will only be able to loan Kindle books which have
that feature enabled and you will only be able to loan a book once. Finally, if your not in the USA
you are currently not able to do this at all. These limitations are almost certainly concessions with
publishers, but they still limit the value of these service considerable. In order to loan a book you
need to open amazon.comand go to the manage your kindle section. There you will be able to see
all of the books that you have bought from amazon. Next to each of the books is a + sign to
expand. Click that and you will see more information. If you are able to loan it there will be a
button there which says Loan this book . Click on that and you ll enter the email address of the
person you want to loan the book to. You will also need to enter your name and have the option of

The Wonderous Mystery of Black Holes
Just a hundred years ago in 1915 was the time Einstein created his theories of General Relativity,
thus the makings of what is known today. These theories helped predict that black holes actually
occupy the universe vastly (Wiki authors). Because black holes are virtually invisible to the
human eye, since not even light can escape their clutches, it is hard to understand something that
can t be seen or even assume it exists. Though the concept of black holes can be traced back to
1795, to Pierre Simon Laplace, who originally proposed the idea. It was Karl Schwarzchild to be
the first to start proving black holes exist from the research of Einstein and others (Freudenrich).
This was just the start of black holes becoming a major focus of astronomers and astrophysicists
globally.
The common misconception of black holes is that they are a hole in space, but the fact is, they are
a dense orb of matter that continuously grows and consumes. Popular believe is that a black hole is
a gateway through time and space but that is not the case. All someone would find at the center
of a black hole would be a dense orb a matter called the singularity, or core (Freudenrich). Black
holes do in a way distort time and space because of their immense mass yet one would die and be
burnt to a crisp before even coming close to reaching the highly dense core. If watched from the
earth, it would take an infinite amount of time to be consumed by and become a part of a black
hole, but

Argument Of The Liar Paradox
Liar paradox is a general argument about liars who claim that they are actually lying. For
instance, when a person says, whatever I said is not true, it means that the person is lying and is
telling an indication that shows he or she is lying. Therefore, a paradox can be termed as an
argument with three features including a premise that appears to be the true, a conclusion that
appears to be false, and if the statement can be termed as valid. Liar paradoxis also an argument that
reaches at the contradiction via reasoning about the sentence with the lie. The classical kinds of
sentences are mainly self referential which results to difficulties in the same sentences. For
instance, it can be assumed that the liar sentence is M (Houben, 2001). If in any manner M is
termed as true, then M is false. Further, an indication of semantic incoherence can be use to
describe the liar paradoxincluding 1+2=5 . Such problems are common in expression of the liar
paradoxes but many people misinterpret them. Some people react by not taking the statement of
paradox serious while... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such an approach provides us with no dependable guidance regarding how to avoid the paradoxes.
This is because the liar paradox is wholly dependent upon ideas on how to develop inferences and
manner in which to understand the major semantic concepts of reference, negation or truth and
determine which concept requires revision. In addition, many suggestions have been put forward
on the way in which liar paradox can be dealt with. However, many of these suggestions fail to
provide formal or any detailed theoretical frameworks that can bring its own semantics or syntax
with precision. Any decent means or theory of determining the truth and at the same time depicting
a liar paradox should possess both philosophical justification and a coherent formalism to back it up

Understanding The Historical-Cultural Context Paper
1.What can happen when people approach the Bible without any concern for the historical cultural
context? We misinterpret what God is trying to say. We need to understand what the audience was
going through in the time that God was speaking to them. We need to understand the situation so
that it can impact us the way that Godintended it to impact the audience he was speaking to. One
awesome example that the author points out is the parable of the Good Samaritan. When Jesus
starts that A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho by looking at different resources to
get the historical context we can find elevation, the route, the weather patterns, and most
importantly the terrain. We would find out that Jerusalem is 2500 feet above sea level and
Jericho is about 800 feet below sea level. The route is 20 miles and the terrain is very rugged.
(Duvall, 2008, p. 53) So we can now understand that the Samaritan could have... Show more content

For my example I am going to use a different part of the Parable of the Good Samaritan the

The Pros And Cons Of UNICEF
Unmistakably, innumerable world events have set the stage for a multitude of moments of peace,
liberty, and justice throughout the globe that have been long awaited for extensive periods of time.
The key formula of momentous changes throughout history have not only been political decisions,
but also the commonly associated aspect of warfare. Together, these often chaotic melting pots of
policy and conflict have paved the way for ending extensive moments of injustice and hardship
while also toppling the authoritative rule of brute dictators such as Adolf Hitler. However, quite
commonly the long fought pathways towards victory and sequential freedom leaves behind a long
tail of destruction and chaos often paid for in the cost of lives, limbs, damaged societies and post
traumatic stress disorder. On the positive side, however, what these long fought battles sometimes
give birth to are organizations and policies that emphasize the necessity of not only preserving
peace, but also aiding those commonly negatively impacted by those moments of disorder and
chaos. A great example of an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Comparing Goldilocks And Little Red Riding Hood
Have you ever put much thought into the decisions of the fairy tale characters that you grew up
hearing about about? Have you ever stopped to consider that maybe their actions and decisions
resemble each other? Goldilocks and the three bears is a classic fairy tale that most children
grow up hearing, Goldilocks made plenty of decisions; she decided to go into the forest, she
decided to enter a house, she discovered, she decided to eat porridge, to sit in a chair, and to doze
off in a bed that she found. Goldilocks made a lot of decisions, she wasn t the only one though.
Little Red Riding Hoodis another fairy talethat we all know. Little Red made numerous decisions
herself, she decided to bring her ill Granny some soup in hopes of making her feel better. Little
Red decided to go into the woods alone, she decided to proceed fearlessly into the woods, even
though there may be a malicious wolf lurking in the trees. Goldilocks and Little Red both made
decisions, those decisions were similar, in that both of their decisions involved the girls going into
the woods unaccompanied, going into a house and more. However, they had made different
decisions as well, and the reasons behind their decisions were very different. One of the... Show

RenГ©e Stout: Tales of the Conjure Woman is one of the most unique exhibits you will ever come

handmade articles. RenГ©e Stout was a true conjure woman because she discovered two alter egos
within herself, Fatima Mayfield and Madam Ching. She has the enchanted characteristic to observe
the world through two sets of eyes, the spiritual and the physical realm. RenГ©e Stout s art
embodies contemporary hoodoo with a combination of African folkloric practices. Through her
artwork, Stout conserves the religious heritage of Africans by denouncing colonialism and
imperialism, aligning herself with Pan Africanism, and reimaging African religious traditions
through hoodoo. By observing Stout s exhibit, Tales of the Conjure Woman, one can see she was
heavily influenced by the practice of hoodoo. According to Merriam Webster, hoodoo is a body of
practices of sympathetic magic traditional especially among blacks in the southern United States
(Merriam Webster). One of the main concepts she focused on her exhibit was colonialism.
Colonialism is the control or governing influence of a nation over a dependent country, territory, or

American culture. For example, in American slavery, Africans were snatched from their own belief
systems. When they were brought to America, they were taught that

Song Analysis Of The Song Czerwone Make Na Monte Cassino
Czerwone Make Na Monte Cassino is a Polish World War II military song. It was written about
the fight against a German stronghold in a Benedictine monastery on Monte Cassino. Though the
Allies had been fighting at Cassino since mid January, the Polish forces joined for the fourth and
final round of assaults on May 11, 1944. This victory allowed Allied forces to advance to Rome.
Composed during the night of May 17, 1944, Czerwone Maki Na Monte Cassino is collaboration
between Alfred Schutz and Feliks Konarski. Schutz was a composer, and actor in the Polish
Soldiers Theater at Campobasso. Konarski of the Polish II Corps was the poet who wrote the
original three stanzas of the song. In 1969, a fourth and fifth stanza were added to celebrate the
25th anniversary of the Battle at Monte Cassino.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

King Lear And Hamlet Essay
The concept of madness and those who suffer from its hold is something that is apparent in both
Shakespeare s Hamlet and King Lear, both plays treat madness in similar ways it is often not
understood by the characters, it is often feminized and there are characters who choose to
assume madness for their own specific reasons. Another similarity is that both plays have two
central characters that suffer from madness, each has one character whose madness is real and
each has a character whose madness is faked. It is said the mad characters in these plays are given
a type of freedom to do and say what they please and are able to speak a certain kind of truththat

Insulation Essay
Diana Flatsoussis
Review of Literature
Insulate to cover, line, or separate with a material that prevents or reduces the passage, transfer, or
leakage of heat, electricity, or sound (Insulate ,2015, pg.1). In this experiment insulation is the main
topic. Insulation is used in many things: a house, a refrigerator, walls, clothing, and types of
drinking cups. Installation can be made of materials like styrofoam, plastic, and fiberglass. These
can be used to keep things hot or cold. Insulation is most commonly for heat and maintaining heat
energy. This experiment tests the insulation of several cups and how they keep liquids hot. Each
cup used in the experiment has some insulation. The cups have different amounts of insulation.
Each of these cups are generally used as insulators for many liquids.
Insulation slows the process of heat leaving an object. Most insulation contains lots of air spaces.
The air spaces slow the flow of heat leaving the object because the heat takes longer to travel
through the air spaces. Insulation is a material or substance that is used to stop heat, electricity, or

Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi Research Paper
On October 26, 1919, in Tehran, Iran, a man was born who would change the course of history

of a political revolution, but it was perhaps his exile more than anything else he did in his life that
was the real turning point, mostly due to the rise of Radical Islam that followed shortly after. Reza

that the taste of the honey is based on what the bees are eating and it also depends on the season.

Pride Gas Station Case Study
Petition to lift our trespassing Notice at Pride Gas Station after an altercation with an instigating
and verbally abusive Security Guard.
On September 27, 2016; security guard Ruben Roberto, supposed constable and notary to the
public, decided to demand us to get out of the Pride establishment due to the fact that he believed
my mother to be recording him ( even though she was just turning on her phone to watch videos
on youtube). He then proceeded to say that it was a new policy that the corporation added for us
the consumers ( in general.) We asked why; he claimed it was all said in a meeting ( which we

Becoming A Mentee
I have been a mentee throughout various phases of my career as well as in school. I have had
great mentors who have been very open and honest about strengths and weaknesses and who have
tried to guide me over the years. It has been a tremendous benefit and something I probably took
for granted until I was asked to participate in a formal mentorshipprogram at work. The mentorship
committee spent a lot of time developing documentation and discussing goals and expectations for
both sides which I found encouraging. The mentees and mentors were given an overview of what to
expect and how to prepare for their meetings with the mentee clearly being told that they had to
schedule the meetings, determine the recurrence and drive the discussion. The mentors were given
guidelines on how to work with the mentees and how to encourage participation.
One of the key items I would identify as fundamental for mentees to be successful is to have them
develop and define a goal. The mentee must know what they expect to gain from the relationship to
be able to measure and determine if it was successful. One of the main points to cover with a
mentee is to ensure they understand that they are guiding their own destiny and the expectation that
a mentor will have all the answers is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A community of practice is a group or groups of people who share a concern or passion in what

can be an association of specific professionals who meet to discuss challenges, trends in their

The Barriers That Limit Further Integration Of Icts
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
3.1INTRODUCTION
In the previous chapter, a summary of literatures related to this study has been given. This chapter
will discuss the methods that would be adopted in order to achieve the aim of this research study.
The aim of this research study is to explore the barriers that limit further integration of ICTs in
Nigerian secondary schools and steps that can be taken to limit the barriers.
To achieve the aim of this research, survey questionnaires were sent out to 250 teachers (public and
private) and also to 150 students. Asides sending questionnaires to the teachers, semi structured
interview was conducted to four (4) teachers to gather more information.
In addition, this chapter also discusses survey methodology, ... Show more content on

Quantitative research methods usually contain numbers, proportion and statistics. One of the
methods known to be quantitative method is the use of questionnaires to implement research and
collect data.
In this research, hard copies of questionnaires were shared amongst teachers in several private and
public secondary schools. These schools were chosen randomly and are all located at the western
part of Nigeria. The questionnaires were filled at instance and were collected immediately. Although
in some secondary schools, collection of the questionnaires was delayed for a maximum of two
days. The questionnaire includes yes/no questions as well as multiple choice questions.
Like in any research, there are advantages and disadvantages. The advantage was that, there were a
good numbers of respondents. However, according to Collis and Hussey (2009), the larger the
sample, the better it represents the population. Due to the crisis I Nigeria as at the time this
research was conducted, the total number of respondents was 200 teachers as compared to the
initial target of 600 teachers, which is categorized as the disadvantage or challenge encountered
during the research.
Asides the teacher s involvement, couple of students from the randomly selected secondary schools
also took part in the completion of the survey.

Lyme Disease Research Papers
Although most people don t realize it, one of the world s most debilitating diseases can often be
found in their very own backyard. Lurking in the tall grass or dangling from the end of a branch,
just waiting for you to walk by. Barley bigger than a poppy seed, they re almost impossible to
notice. But these tiny black legged ticks are no joke and if you ve been bitten, you re at risk. These
nasty little ticks pack a big punch, carrying a very serious life altering disease. This disease, which
can change a life forever is known as Lyme disease.
All diseases have a causative agent, a biological pathogen that causes the disease. In Lyme disease,
the causative agent is a harmful bacteria called Borrelia burgdoferi. That being said, every disease
is transmitted in one way or the other. In this case, Lyme disease is transmitted through a vector.
That vector being a deer tick or in the Western United States, a black legged tick. In order to
contract Lyme disease, the tick must imbed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It shows no mercy and can affect multiple parts or organs simultaneously. The disease can
damage the joints, leading to Lyme Arthritis. Lyme disease is known to cause serious
neurological problems, which could lead to unannounced mental disturbances. Facial paralysis is
another one of the devastating effects. More seriously, Lyme disease can damage the liver and
eventually will lead to liver disease. It can cause encephalitis, which is inflammation of the brain.
Most importantly, the disease can cause severe heart complications. Such as, heart palpitations or
an irregular heartbeat. Keep in mind, I have only listed a few of the horrible effects that Lyme
disease has on the body. The effects of the disease on so many body systems, and the debilitating
impact on the life of the infected patient, have triggered a crisis that has far reaching implications
for public health and

Elon Musk s Accomplishments
Elon Musk is a well known investor, engineer, and inventor. Mostly known for being a co
founder of PayPal, CEO of Tesla, and SpaceX. Musk attended Queen s University in Kingston,
Ontario for undergraduate study, and after spending two years there he transferred to the
University of Pennsylvania where he received a Bachelors of Science degree in physics. As well
as a Bachelors of Science degree in economics at Wharton School of Business. In 1995 he moved
to California to start a PhD in Applied Physics and Material Science at Stanford University, but later
left to chase his entrepreneurial aspirations in areas such as the internet, sustainable energy, and
space exploration. Musk is currently the CEO of Tesla and works with NASA through SpaceX,...

Although he didn t think he would have a career in PayPal, SpaceX or Tesla, he wanted to at
least be involved in one of them. The way Musk thinks is by the first principles of thinking,
which is essentially a mode of inquiry that constantly pursues the foundations of a problem. The
first principles method was crucial to the beginning of SpaceX. When Musk was trying to figure
out the price of their first rockets he thought historically all rockets have been expensive and
therefore all rockets in the future will be expensive. But that s not entirely true, although he
found them too expensive, he thought if he manufactured them it could be cheaper. Fortunately
it did turned out to be cheaper, instead of buying a rocket for $20 million they built their own for
about $6 million. Now going into the car industry his best bet that would probably take him far
was electric cars and at the time he was studying advanced capacitors, which are essentially long
lasting batteries. Musk thought if he could create this long lasting battery, then he could
revolutionize the car industry. And as most people think when trying something new, Musk
wasn t sure if success was a possible outcome. Nevertheless he wanted to embark on something
that is desirable to figure out if success was at least one of the possibilities. And he was prepared
to face whatever trial he found himself in. Afterward Musk talks about his idea or goal in Tesla,
and his motive is not to compete and try to become the top car brand, but to have a catalytic effect
to make most cars

Hamlet Soliloquies Analysis
All seven soliloquies in the play are based on several common themes such as death, incest, pain,
fear, emptiness of existence, and pride and hypocrisy that make us human. To create these themes
and further develop character, Shakespeare uses certain techniques. First of all, Shakespeare
employs blank verse to create a smooth flowing rhythm and cadence. He masterfully switches back
and forth between fast and slow pace by utilizing both short choppy sentences and fluent long ones.
Secondly, it is clear that the soliloquies do not waste any word. Each syllable and sound adds depth
to the development of Hamlet. Each soliloquy successfully conveys to the reader Hamlet s state of
mind and intensity of his emotion. Most importantly, the soliloquies reveal something special that
the play itself does no t. Just by looking at the play separately, it i s very hard for readers to notice
the character development that Hamlet goes through. For instance, the beginning soliloquies prove
that Hamlet is indecisive and irresolute. Thus, it i s the soliloquy found in each aAct of the play
that readers can watch Hamlet grow internally.
As an uptight and hypersensitive individual, Hamlet never seems to reveal much about his thoughts
throughout the whole play. In fact, since Hamlet is inclined to express his emotions in a physically
interactive way, including his abusive interaction with his mother and aggressive physical contact
with Laertes and Claudius, it is rather difficult for the audience to interpret his intentions and his
thoughts. His soliloquies, however, are the only ways in which the audience can finally gain an
understanding of his thoughts. This soliloquy, also being the first, reveals him to be thoroughly
disgusted with Gertrude, Claudius, and the world in general. This is when the King Claudius and
Queen Gertrude urges Hamlet in the open court to cast off the deep melancholy which, as they
think, has taken possession of his mind as a consequence of his father s death. In their opinion,
Hamlet has sufficiently grieved for his father s death already. Prior to the soliloquy, King Claudius
and Queen Gertrude announce their marriage, as according to them, the court cannot afford
excessive grief, which further saddens

Reflection Paper On Counseling
Session One: I administered the A.P.S. and did a data inventory. She was quite interested but
skeptical of what information would come from the profile. Rebecca is in a local seminary
studying Christian counseling. We have had many opportunities to compare the training we are

Session Two: We began with prayer. Rebecca is 29 years old and single. She is an energetic
young lady who is working two part time jobs in addition to going to a local seminary working
toward a Masters in Christian Counseling. She has been through a traumatic early life. Approval
has been an issue that she has been facing in her life. She was converted at age sixteen and did
not receive approval from her parents at all concerning Christianity. Her parents are atheists
along with a father that has been and still is an alcoholic. He is an information technology
expert, and because of the extreme availability of positions, he has moved the family many
times. Because he is very perceptive of when employers are finding his problem, he changes
jobs before he can be terminated. He uses the guise of being offered a better position for his quick

Memory Retrieval Essay
Memory retrieval is likely to be good after repeated testing of that material. In fact, practising
retrieval has a larger effect on memory than revising the information (Hockley, 2009).
Another factor that influences the quality of retrieved information is the way one studied the
material. As such, material that was studied over a number of sessions and contexts has more
chance of being retrieved correctly after a period of time than the material that has been studied
over one long session (Bjork, 2001). The spacing between the sessions should not be too big or
too little, as in case it is too big the person might simply forget the material he already studied, and
in case it is too little the spacing effect would not work. Overall, spacing is important for long term
retention, whilst cramming over one long session works for short term memory.
Another thing that matters is the information ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Context cues play a major role in memory retrieval, and might vary from the room, smell, or
sounds (Eich, 1980). Academic implications of this finding might be studying in a silence, as
exams are usually conducted in a silence. One of the important context cues is if a person
consumed some substances while studying and while taking an exam. According to Carter and
Cassady (1998) that is true for caffeine, as well as other substances such as nicotine for example, if
one was smoking while studying, injection of nicotine in the system might later trigger the memory.
It is also true for cocaine and amphetamines. Additionally, Adan and Serra Grabulosa (2010) found
that a combination of caffeine and glucose helps memory consolidation; therefore, studying that is
combined with consuming of those substances would lead to a better information recall. Obviously,
one has to think of health consequences and avoid drugs, as well as limit his caffeine, nicotine and
glucose

The Post Liberal Era begins with the presidency of Ronald Reagan. Although Ronald Reagan

Another huge, relevant problem that began budding under the presidency of Ronald Reagan was
mass incarceration. Incarceration rates rose quickly during his term but skyrocketed when
President Bill Clinton passed the Crime Bill according to the sources. The post war period
revealed huge rises in the number of people imprisoned. From a mere 338,029 in 1970, the figures
rose to a shocking 2,042,479 in 2001 according to the information supplied by Dr. Barrett. In the
document Why Mass Incarceration Matters by Heather Ann Thompson, it states that Between
1970 and 2010 more people were incarcerated in the United States than were imprisoned in any
other country. What was not surprising was the fact that African Americans once again were the
ones who were the most unfortunate, recording the highest imprisonment rate among all races and
sexes. The numbers before the 1960s do not even compare to the numbers following. For
example, numbers taken from the document show that 35 years before the 1960s, the number of
American people imprisoned had increased by 52,249 people. However, the 35 years after, the
same group had increased by a drastic 1,266,2435. Even with the massive numbers documented in
statistics of the numbers of American citizens incarcerated, historians have ignored this integral
piece of the post war period and failed to recognize its impact. For example, mass incarceration had
a direct effect on how thriving American urban centers became full of poverty

In the middle of November, I stood in the middle of a loud and dusty warehouse. The floors were
covered in filth and the room was filled with a mixed age group ranging from thirteen to eighty
five. I glanced around at all of the workers and volunteers, they were so joyful and enthusiastic. It
took me all of five minutes to recognize why I was there. I wanted to make a difference in the
lives of children across the world. This was the moment in time when I realized just how fortunate

children across the world. Being appreciative of all that God has provided for me became very

Searching the boxes required the worker to extract any donations and unacceptable items such
as: liquids, toys relating to war and chocolate. Filling the boxes was another position. Here, the
volunteer would add filler items to the boxes to make certain that each child would receive a full
box. Some of the boxes were special boxes . Special boxes were going to be delivered to a
restricted area that did not want the children to receive anything that promoted Christianity. So for
these shoe boxes, we would remove any Bibles, coloring books (that are related to the bible) and
anything with a bible verse on it. These shoe boxes were very significant because they could still
show children the love of Jesus Christ.
Taping the boxes was my assignment, meaning, I secured each of the boxes with transparent
packing tape. This was by far my favorite position because I was constantly in motion and an
essential role that I was able to take leadership on. With each box that I came in contact with, I
was able to pray over the children who would receive that box and the impact that it would have on
them and their

The Indian and the White Communites in Dances with Wolves and Machimanito
The film Dances with Wolves shares a lot of its content with the story Machimanito. In Dances with
Wolves, two nations come to interact with each other. While the white man is dominating the land,
the Indians are trying to protect both their land and themselves. In Machimanito, the story describes
the epidemic and its effects on the Indians, while describing the ongoing conflict between Indians
and the white man. There is a huge cultural difference between the white man and the Indians,
which is reflected on their ways of life and communities; each lives a different life style including

The Indians establish their roots in the land and start extracting their needs passively and in rational
amounts that are enough for their survival.
The setting of each of the two communities in Dances with Wolves reflects their personality. The
Indians live as whole and on a piece of land where all the tents are near each other. This stresses that
Indians live collectively rather than individually like the white man. The first time Dunbar rides to
the Indians with Stands with a Fist, the camera shows Dunbar as being on the top of the hill; the
camera is looking up on Dunbar. Then it moves upwards to give the viewer a panorama of the
surroundings of the community. This sight includes: trees, land, mountains and a river. These are
the basic elements of nature and the Indians live within these elements. This resembles the bond
which the Indians have with nature.
When the camera gives a view of the soldiers fort, it is noticeable that there is almost no trees
presents, and a logical reason is that the tree have been used to build the post. The buildings in the
post emphasize the separation of the white man, as they are built within a considerable distance
between each other. These walls separate people from each other; thus emphasizes and explains the
individuality of the white man. Also Dunbar builds a fence for his horse to stay in, while in the
Indian community all the horses are left to their will.

  • 2. Anthropologists Should Put More Emphasis On Individual... Anthropologists should put more emphasis on individual differences and meanings that are not shared. Culture is composed of individuals. We know that the individual is an important part of any culture because cultures are not uniform they differ from one another and they differ from themselves over time. This difference is a product of the inherent uniqueness of the individuals who compose a culture and no science that claims to study culture could be considered a true science if it ignored the building blocks of the subject it is studying. Clifford Geertz shares his views on culture in his essay, Thick Description: Toward an Interpretive Theory of Culture (1973), he views culture in a sort of public act in which people express themselves using various signs and symbols which have suggested cultural meaning far from an abstract psychological construct. Culture is embodied in the person who acts in a certain context and culture is revealed in this person s actions and his interpretation of their meaning. Culture in this sense is concrete and public, and not something which exists in people s individual minds. In my opinion, how each individual perceives their history is an art of construction. History by definition is the whole series of past events connected with a particular person or a past characterized by a particular thing (Dictionary.com n.d.). History is what it is at this present time because of people, the actions and decisions each individual has made ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Organic Farming Produces Organic Food Eat it if you can Pronounce It The word Organic can be defined in multiple ways but what the word basically means that the product is derived from living matter. Organic farming produces organic food. The goal is to encourage soil and water conservation, reduce pollution, and constrain conventional methods to fertilize and control weeds. According to the U.S Food and Drug Administration The term organic is not defined by law or regulations FDA enforces. Foods that are organic does not necessarily mean that they are healthy. There are organically refined unhealthy foods such as wholesome branded cane sugar and Applegate branded pork sausages products that are labeled as organic but is obviously not the healthiest choice. Labeling a food product as organic does not make consumption completely healthy for infants. Drug Administration Organic produce derives from farming involving growth without using any type of genetically modified organisms, synthetic fertilizers, sewage, and pesticides. When meat products are organically refined the animals the meat comes from do not receive any antibiotics or hormones that manipulate growth increase. The department of the United States government that is responsible for programming anything related to food, agriculture and nutrition (USDA) defines organic as food produced by farmers who emphasize the use of renewable resources and the conservation of soil and water to enhance environmental quality for future generations. ... • 4. Alice Hoffman Biography Essay example Be careful what you wish for. I know that for a fact. Wishes are brutal, unforgiving things. They burn your tongue the moment they re spoken and you can never take them back. Alice Hoffman (Alice Hoffman Quotes, 2014). Alice Hoffman was born on March 16th, 1952 in New York City, New York. She grew up in Long Island, New York and graduated in 1969 from high school (Biography, 2014). Her parents got divorced when she was young, but they both worked and attended college, and out of their neighborhood, they were the only people that attended college (O Hara, 2014). Alice Hoffmanattended two different colleges during her time in school. She attended Adelphi Universityand the Stanford University Creative WritingCenter. During her... She will write a book that has something to do with the phobia or tragedy that she is going through at the moment, such as treatment for cancer. Alice Hoffman also uses tragedies that happen in America, such as 9/11, as a way to write books. This writing technique that she uses helped her most popular book get that title. Alice Hoffman s most popular book is The Dovekeepers (Biography, 2014). During the process of writing this book, Hoffman found that writing helped her during chemotherapy and while she was sick during her treatment time (O Hara, 2014). Hoffman would often write during this time to make her feel better. Due to her focusing on writing so much as an exit of treatment and sickness, Hoffman came out with a book that was beautiful, harrowing, a major contribution to the twenty first century literature (The Dovekeepers Synopsis, 2014). Also, The Dovekeepers is believed to be ambitious and mesmerizing (The Dovekeepers Synopsis, 2014), which is why it is thought to have been so popular. This book is set in Ancient Israel. In 70 CE, nine hundred Jews held out for months against armies of Romans on a mountain in the Judean, desert, Masada. Only two women and five children survived. (The Dovekeepers Synopsis, 2014). The Dovekeepers is based off of this event that occurred. In the book, four women meet in the desperate days of the siege. All are dovekeepers, and all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Thomas Paine And America A Prophecy Thomas Paine and America a Prophecy William Blake, poet of the Romantic Era, wrote in 1793 the prophetic story America a Prophecy. The story begins with Orc breaking the chains that held him down and sexually assaulting a young woman that has been taking care of him. The woman is revealed to represent America and that she has been waiting for Orc to help her. Soon Orc and other colonies under British rule attack the Prince of Albion and King George III. Alongside Orc are historical figures such as; George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Painewho fight for the liberty of their country. The story ends with Orc liberating America from tyrannical rule and influencing other countries to rebel. The mention of Thomas Paine s in the prophetic story is not coincidental, as he and Blake were involved with one another in real life. I believe that by having Thomas Paine appear in the prophecy shows the importance of Paine s work to the American Revolution and Blake s own political views and writing. I will analyze the text of America a Prophecy to have a better understanding of the prophetic book and then give historical context to Thomas Paine s work and beliefs. By doing this I will finally analyze the two writers and see where Blake s America a Prophecy, and Paine s own work, specifically Rights of Man, agree and differ from one another. In America a Prophecy, Blake has mixed his own mythology with historical figures and events. Orc is a positive figure in Blake s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. What Is The Use Of Symbolism In Beginning Again, By Franz... In his poem, Beginning Again, Franz Wright uses acute forms of symbolism to convey a collective human desire to become better. It is common to have experiences in life where there is a desire, after self realization, for a new start as a better person. In fantasy, an improved version of one s self would not be plagued with issues, rather they are idealized as being carefree and composed. The idea of future improvement, in combination with the macabre chaos caused by Wright s use of symbolism, intensify the relatability of the poem. From the poem s first line, If I could stop talking, completely cease talking for a year, I might begin to get well, it is evident that the narrator has had past trouble with his mouth. This reiterates ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Usually Rosita lets us spend the extra money for ourselves, but today I opt to keep it in my savings so my trip to go home can come faster. After everyone in the house was fed and bathed to the very best of our ability, I set out my work uniform and climbed into my bed. Since I was the one that had arrived the most recent, I only have to share a room with one other person, who was alone before I came along. I trudged around in the snow for more hours than I can count looking for a place to sleep. I long to go back to Rosita, but I don t think she ll even answer the door, and I wouldn t either. Every place that had looked suitable had either been way too close to a building, or way to near a deserted shop, which I wouldn t even slow down for. As soon as I found a place where the buildings indented. I set down my backpack for a pillow, and my spare clothing as a blanket. • 8. Jacques Seurat Some say they see poetry in my paintings; I see only science. Georges Seurat Before the development of digital cameras even well known artists used pixels to create some of todays famous works of art. The relation between digital pixels and the artistic style of pointillism is almost self explanatory, both use small dots of colour to create larger pieces of art. The painting style of pointillism can be explained by using dots of pure colour close together in a pattern to create a full image using optical blending. For example by painting a red and blue dot close together and having the viewer farther away their eyes will blend the two separate colours as violet rather than the individual red and blue. In the landscape behind the pine tree the viewer can see a cloudy sky, mountains, and two boats sailing on the sea. • 10. Essay on Shifting Efficiency Shifting Efficiency One of the most important and life altering inventions in history is the creation of the automobile. The first model was built with a manual transmission, meaning the operator of the vehicle was responsible for manually changing gears to increase speed. This method of acceleration, while efficient, required the complete attention of the operator, and it sometimes took away the enjoyment of driving. This led to the invention of the automatic transmission, a method by which the operator of the vehicle no longer had to switch gears, as this was done automatically. Since the development of the automatic transmission, there has always been conflict about which method of acceleration is more efficient. Driving a vehicle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When using a standard, learning how to create the equilibrium of letting one foot off the clutch and pressing the other on the gas pedal in first gear could take a while to master. An automatic car, with the process of driving in first gear taken care of magically to most people, is much simpler and less time consuming to learn. All a person has to do is put the gear shift in drive and press on the gas pedal. The final question of efficiency lies within the problem of figuring out which type of transmission is better when racing. In this area, the manual transmission becomes the popular choice, compared to the automatic. An automatic does not give the driver the freedom to shift gears when desired, as this is sometimes necessary when shift variation is a key element to winning a race. The manual transmission allows the driver to choose when it is necessary to shift gears, sometimes giving the racer an edge over someone who is racing with an automatic car. Even though an automatic transmission takes the work out of driving something most people are thankful for, given that some could never handle the task of shifting manually, the standard has its own advantages also. The decision about which transmission is more efficient may never be reached, given the advantages and disadvantages of each. It really depends on the person who buys the car and what it will be ... • 12. Causes Of Residential Schools What was the cause of having residential schools made? Who did the native people wrong to deserve such discriminatory and harsh treatment? To begin with, we have the causes for the government to open residential schools. It all began with Sir John A. Macdonald who funded residential schools because he thought that the aboriginal people were not civilized enough to live in a modern society. The government, wanted aboriginal people to learn how to read and write because they thought the aboriginals were savages . Sir John A. Mac Donald said this because he did not like the way native people have been taught, or their culture, and beliefs. Residential schools were established so native children could be more successful if the school taught the children the main stream Canadian curriculum. This curriculum consisted of learning Christianity as well as how to speak English or French. They did this so native kids can better understand the Canadian culture, by speaking in another language. The first residential school for the aboriginal people was established near Quebec City, where Catholic missionaries aimed to civilize aboriginal boys. Parents didn t want to send their children to the residential schools, Kids sometimes tried to run away. Similar attempts were made by protestant missionaries in the Atlantic and in the Red River area but also failed. After that we have the cause of the treatment of residential schools. • 14. Examples Of Irony In The Princess And The Tin Box Authors Purpose in Using Irony Essay Imagine a person wearing a medal for the fastest sprinter in the world has a speedometer attached to him. He is getting ready to sprint in a 100 meter race. Two seconds after the whistle blows and he takes off, his speedometer reads 1 mph. That was unexpected, which is the whole point of irony. Irony is found in many stories. Although readers may think irony used in stories are for temporary effects of the moment it is read, the author has a bigger purpose than just enhancing their story. The authors of The Sniper , Liam O Flaherty, and The Princess and the Tin Box , James Thurber, utilize situational irony to present the moral of each story. Thurber uses situational irony in The Princess and the Tin Box to mock how decisions made by princesses in fairy tales are illogical. On the princess eighteenth birthday, her father commands that she would choose the best gift amongst five princes, and marry the prince that brought the gift she chose. The first four princes brought gifts made completely out of jewels. The fifth and final prince was unique, as he brought the princess a small tin box made of gravel. As the other princes laughed at such a gift, the princess examined it with great interest and squealed with delight, for all her life she has been glutted with precious stones and priceless metals but she had never seen tin before or mica or feldspar or hornblende (Thurber 2). In most fairytales, the princess would choose the unique gift. The quote shows that the princess in this parody does consider the fifth prince s gift. Thurber is setting his readers up to believe she will choose the fifth prince s gift. However, his situational irony is executed when the princess chooses the third prince s gift: a platinum and sapphire jewel box. The princess provides her reasoning by stating, It is a very large and expensive box, and when I am married, I will meet many admirers who will give me precious gems with which to fill it to the top. Therefore, it is the most valuable of all the gifts my suitors have brought me, and I like it the best (Thurber 2). If she were to choose the tin box, it would not have added to her wealth. People cheat on many things: school, sports, and, but not limited to, relationships. But there are many ways to cheat in those multiple examples, like in sports cheating can happen with: drugs, academic eligibility, or even through recruiting. With all the sports the focus could be on, college basketball seems to have the easiest examples of cheating. What makes college basketball coaches break the rules, is it worth the penalty? Roy Williams has had an unproven history of not obeying the academic rules, but he was actually caught in 2004. One of his players, Rashad McCants, recently came out and said Roy did cheat. Rashad McCants, a North Carolina basketball player from 2002 2005 was one of the leading scores on the 2005 National Champion UNC team, who said he participated in Roy Williams academic scandal. Firms that compete in industries in which the median п¬Ѓrm has high leverage tend also to have high leverage. Firms that have high levels of sales tend to have high leverage. Firms that have more collateral tend to have more leverage. When inflation is expected to be high п¬Ѓrms tend to have high leverage. Firms that have a high risk of bankruptcy, as measured by Altman s Z score, have low leverage. Firms that pay dividends tend to have lower leverage than do п¬Ѓrms that do not pay dividends. Finally п¬Ѓrms that have a high market to book ratio tend to have low levels of leverage. Explain Anslem s Ontological Argument 730012506 PHIL 134H Paper # 1 Anselm s Ontological Argument Eleventh century French monk, Anslem of Catenbury, offered a deductive argument proving the existence of God. In order to truly grasp the argument, we must first attempt to understand the philosopher and his own ideologies. Anslem preludes his proof by stating his profound faith in God, consequently affirming that it is only through God s enlightening that his understanding can reach as high as God. He also adds that he who says in his heart that there is no God is a fool, per the Bible. Anslem s argument is based greatly on what he understands to be the nature of God s being that than which nothing greater can be conceived. The deductive argument simply put goes as follows: 1.God is the greatest thing we can think of. 2.Things can exist only in our imaginations, or they can also exist is reality. 3.Things that exist in reality are always better than things that exist only in our imaginations. 4.If God existed only in our imaginations, he wouldn t be the greatest things that we can think of because God in reality would be better. Therefore, God must exist in reality. Although the logic in Anslem s appears to be flawless, the proof s rate of converting non believers into believers is very low if not zero. • 21. Pro Life Vs Pro Choice Research Paper There has been much controversy regarding the social, ethical, and medical predicament that abortion provokes. Abortion is the procedure of ending a pregnancy with the early removal of a fetus. There is no right or wrong when it comes to abortion; values contribute a great amount to an individual s opinion. This process has led to numerous debates among individuals who believe that it is up to a woman to decide what to do with her body and the individuals who hold that women do not have the right to take away a life. Although it may seem as if the beliefs of pro life and pro choice advocates are on opposite sides of a spectrum, the two sides can come to an agreement about how to at least lessen the number of abortions occurring. Pro choice advocates debate that women should have independence in regards to what they choose to do with their own bodies. These advocates point to the Constitution to support their decision because in 1973 the landmark decision of Roe v. Wade established that a woman s right to abortion is protected by her constitutional right of privacy ( 30 Days: Pro Choice/ Pro Life ). This pertains to freedom of choice. These theories helped predict that black holes actually occupy the universe vastly (Wiki authors). Because black holes are virtually invisible to the human eye, since not even light can escape their clutches, it is hard to understand something that can t be seen or even assume it exists. Though the concept of black holes can be traced back to 1795, to Pierre Simon Laplace, who originally proposed the idea. It was Karl Schwarzchild to be the first to start proving black holes exist from the research of Einstein and others (Freudenrich). This was just the start of black holes becoming a major focus of astronomers and astrophysicists globally. The common misconception of black holes is that they are a hole in space, but the fact is, they are a dense orb of matter that continuously grows and consumes. Popular believe is that a black hole is a gateway through time and space but that is not the case. All someone would find at the center of a black hole would be a dense orb a matter called the singularity, or core (Freudenrich). Black holes do in a way distort time and space because of their immense mass yet one would die and be burnt to a crisp before even coming close to reaching the highly dense core. For instance, when a person says, whatever I said is not true, it means that the person is lying and is telling an indication that shows he or she is lying. Therefore, a paradox can be termed as an argument with three features including a premise that appears to be the true, a conclusion that appears to be false, and if the statement can be termed as valid. Liar paradoxis also an argument that reaches at the contradiction via reasoning about the sentence with the lie. The classical kinds of sentences are mainly self referential which results to difficulties in the same sentences. For instance, it can be assumed that the liar sentence is M (Houben, 2001). If in any manner M is termed as true, then M is false. Further, an indication of semantic incoherence can be use to describe the liar paradoxincluding 1+2=5 . We misinterpret what God is trying to say. We need to understand what the audience was going through in the time that God was speaking to them. We need to understand the situation so that it can impact us the way that Godintended it to impact the audience he was speaking to. One awesome example that the author points out is the parable of the Good Samaritan. When Jesus starts that A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho by looking at different resources to get the historical context we can find elevation, the route, the weather patterns, and most importantly the terrain. We would find out that Jerusalem is 2500 feet above sea level and Jericho is about 800 feet below sea level. The route is 20 miles and the terrain is very rugged. • 31. Song Analysis Of The Song Czerwone Make Na Monte Cassino Czerwone Make Na Monte Cassino is a Polish World War II military song. It was written about the fight against a German stronghold in a Benedictine monastery on Monte Cassino. Though the Allies had been fighting at Cassino since mid January, the Polish forces joined for the fourth and final round of assaults on May 11, 1944. This victory allowed Allied forces to advance to Rome. Composed during the night of May 17, 1944, Czerwone Maki Na Monte Cassino is collaboration between Alfred Schutz and Feliks Konarski. Schutz was a composer, and actor in the Polish Soldiers Theater at Campobasso. Konarski of the Polish II Corps was the poet who wrote the original three stanzas of the song. In 1969, a fourth and fifth stanza were added to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Battle at Monte Cassino.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 32. King Lear And Hamlet Essay The concept of madness and those who suffer from its hold is something that is apparent in both Shakespeare s Hamlet and King Lear, both plays treat madness in similar ways it is often not understood by the characters, it is often feminized and there are characters who choose to assume madness for their own specific reasons. Another similarity is that both plays have two central characters that suffer from madness, each has one character whose madness is real and each has a character whose madness is faked. It is said the mad characters in these plays are given a type of freedom to do and say what they please and are able to speak a certain kind of truththat would not be acceptable in their typically sane society. What do all of these four characters have in common? Their madness can be seen as a kind of freedom from whatever constraints society may have placed on them or it is a freedom to get information without any of questioning their motives. The main difference of these characters each of their madness is influenced by something else. In this experiment insulation is the main topic. Insulation is used in many things: a house, a refrigerator, walls, clothing, and types of drinking cups. Installation can be made of materials like styrofoam, plastic, and fiberglass. These can be used to keep things hot or cold. Insulation is most commonly for heat and maintaining heat energy. This experiment tests the insulation of several cups and how they keep liquids hot. Each cup used in the experiment has some insulation. The cups have different amounts of insulation. Each of these cups are generally used as insulators for many liquids. Insulation slows the process of heat leaving an object. Most insulation contains lots of air spaces. The air spaces slow the flow of heat leaving the object because the heat takes longer to travel through the air spaces. This man fostered some of the best nationalization policies in his country, in addition to new development programs designed to better the lives of Iranians. His name: Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi (Encyclopaedia Britannica). In 1979, Pahlavi was exiled from his country because of a political revolution, but it was perhaps his exile more than anything else he did in his life that was the real turning point, mostly due to the rise of Radical Islam that followed shortly after. • 46. Hamlet Soliloquies Analysis All seven soliloquies in the play are based on several common themes such as death, incest, pain, fear, emptiness of existence, and pride and hypocrisy that make us human. To create these themes and further develop character, Shakespeare uses certain techniques. First of all, Shakespeare employs blank verse to create a smooth flowing rhythm and cadence. He masterfully switches back and forth between fast and slow pace by utilizing both short choppy sentences and fluent long ones. Secondly, it is clear that the soliloquies do not waste any word. Each syllable and sound adds depth to the development of Hamlet. Each soliloquy successfully conveys to the reader Hamlet s state of mind and intensity of his emotion. Most importantly, the soliloquies reveal something special that the play itself does no t. Just by looking at the play separately, it i s very hard for readers to notice the character development that Hamlet goes through. For instance, the beginning soliloquies prove that Hamlet is indecisive and irresolute. Thus, it i s the soliloquy found in each aAct of the play that readers can watch Hamlet grow internally. As an uptight and hypersensitive individual, Hamlet never seems to reveal much about his thoughts throughout the whole play. In fact, since Hamlet is inclined to express his emotions in a physically interactive way, including his abusive interaction with his mother and aggressive physical contact with Laertes and Claudius, it is rather difficult for the audience to interpret his intentions and his thoughts. His soliloquies, however, are the only ways in which the audience can finally gain an understanding of his thoughts. This soliloquy, also being the first, reveals him to be thoroughly disgusted with Gertrude, Claudius, and the world in general. This is when the King Claudius and Queen Gertrude urges Hamlet in the open court to cast off the deep melancholy which, as they think, has taken possession of his mind as a consequence of his father s death. In their opinion, Hamlet has sufficiently grieved for his father s death already. Prior to the soliloquy, King Claudius and Queen Gertrude announce their marriage, as according to them, the court cannot afford excessive grief, which further saddens ... • 48. Memory Retrieval Essay Memory retrieval is likely to be good after repeated testing of that material. In fact, practising retrieval has a larger effect on memory than revising the information (Hockley, 2009). Another factor that influences the quality of retrieved information is the way one studied the material. As such, material that was studied over a number of sessions and contexts has more chance of being retrieved correctly after a period of time than the material that has been studied over one long session (Bjork, 2001). The spacing between the sessions should not be too big or too little, as in case it is too big the person might simply forget the material he already studied, and in case it is too little the spacing effect would not work. Overall, spacing is important for long term retention, whilst cramming over one long session works for short term memory. Another thing that matters is the information ... According to Carter and Cassady (1998) that is true for caffeine, as well as other substances such as nicotine for example, if one was smoking while studying, injection of nicotine in the system might later trigger the memory. It is also true for cocaine and amphetamines. Additionally, Adan and Serra Grabulosa (2010) found that a combination of caffeine and glucose helps memory consolidation; therefore, studying that is combined with consuming of those substances would lead to a better information recall. From a mere 338,029 in 1970, the figures rose to a shocking 2,042,479 in 2001 according to the information supplied by Dr. Barrett. In the document Why Mass Incarceration Matters by Heather Ann Thompson, it states that Between 1970 and 2010 more people were incarcerated in the United States than were imprisoned in any other country. What was not surprising was the fact that African Americans once again were the ones who were the most unfortunate, recording the highest imprisonment rate among all races and sexes. The numbers before the 1960s do not even compare to the numbers following. For example, numbers taken from the document show that 35 years before the 1960s, the number of American people imprisoned had increased by 52,249 people. However, the 35 years after, the same group had increased by a drastic 1,266,2435. Even with the massive numbers documented in statistics of the numbers of American citizens incarcerated, historians have ignored this integral piece of the post war period and failed to recognize its impact. For example, mass incarceration had a direct effect on how thriving American urban centers became full of poverty ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 52. Operation Christmas Child Research Paper In the middle of November, I stood in the middle of a loud and dusty warehouse. The floors were covered in filth and the room was filled with a mixed age group ranging from thirteen to eighty five. I glanced around at all of the workers and volunteers, they were so joyful and enthusiastic. It took me all of five minutes to recognize why I was there. I wanted to make a difference in the lives of children across the world. This was the moment in time when I realized just how fortunate my familywas and how something as simple as a cardboard shoebox could mean so much to children across the world. Being appreciative of all that God has provided for me became very evident while at Operation Christmas Child. This was a major component of my maturity... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Searching the boxes required the worker to extract any donations and unacceptable items such as: liquids, toys relating to war and chocolate. Filling the boxes was another position. Here, the volunteer would add filler items to the boxes to make certain that each child would receive a full box. Some of the boxes were special boxes . Special boxes were going to be delivered to a restricted area that did not want the children to receive anything that promoted Christianity. So for these shoe boxes, we would remove any Bibles, coloring books (that are related to the bible) and anything with a bible verse on it. These shoe boxes were very significant because they could still show children the love of Jesus Christ. Taping the boxes was my assignment, meaning, I secured each of the boxes with transparent packing tape. This was by far my favorite position because I was constantly in motion and an essential role that I was able to take leadership on. With each box that I came in contact with, I was able to pray over the children who would receive that box and the impact that it would have on them and their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The setting of each of the two communities in Dances with Wolves reflects their personality. The Indians live as whole and on a piece of land where all the tents are near each other. This stresses that Indians live collectively rather than individually like the white man. The first time Dunbar rides to the Indians with Stands with a Fist, the camera shows Dunbar as being on the top of the hill; the camera is looking up on Dunbar. Then it moves upwards to give the viewer a panorama of the surroundings of the community. This sight includes: trees, land, mountains and a river.
