INT. FAMILY’S NEW HOUSE
The family of four pull up to the new house in
a car. The two children (girl and boy)
excitedly swing open the car doors and rush to
the front door of the house.
Kid 1 (Darren):
“Wooooahhhhh”
Kid 2 (Leila):
“This is sooo much better than our old house”
The parents move around to the back of the car
to collect their bags. They then stand happily
next to each other watching the children.
Mother: (Quietly)
“Fingers crossed for this one”
Father:
“It will be fine hun…I promise.”
The parents walk into the house and the
children in the background rush around.
Mother:
“Kids, be careful!”
Children play hide and seek around house
Kid 1:
“Ready or not here I come”
(Soft, scary, echoed voice)
Darren (Kid 1) goes around the house to look
for sister (Leila).
Kid 1 (Darren) notices movement underneath a
closed door.
Kid 1(Darren) *tip toes quietly closer and
closer towards the door
As he reaches for the door handle, his sister
(Kid 2 – Leila) jumps from behind him and
scares him
MUSIC STOPS
Kid 2 (Leila):
“BOOOOO!”
Kid 1 (Darren):
“Jesus, Leila!”
Kid 2 (Leila):
“Dinner time now anyway!”
Leila and Darren both go to run down the
stairs first. Darren trips and lands in front
of a salt like substance which is scattered
underneath and on the window seal.
He looks through the window which gives a
clear view of the neighbor’s window where a
mysterious figure is standing.
Moter: “What are you doing up there! Its
dinner!”
Darren turns around and shouts “COMING”
As he turns back around to see the figure
again it has disappeared and the curtains have
shut.
INT. Family Home, Dinner Table
Darren opens door slowly. As he peaks
around the door he sees the window wide
open. The curtains are flowing with the
wind.
Darren sees a face and a movement
Leila drags her feet through the
door to the front room where her
Darren is.
Sister (Leila):
“Whatcha doing?”
Darren’s eyes dart across to Leila
OLDER BROTHER:
Nothing, why?
The SISTER, with her head looking
towards her feet and hands wrapped
behind her back, begins to giggle.
SISTER
(Playful)
Do you want to play hide and seek? I
can seek first?
BROTHER
(Sighing)
Yeah sure if this is what it’s going
to take to make you leave me alone.
SISTER
(Excited)
YAY! Ok I’ll count to 20 and you go
hide.
The BROTHER clenches the armrests of
the chair and arises with a big
sigh. His face is almost emotionless
however; a faint smile is breaking
through his face.
The SISTER begins to count down from
20 with her left eye breaking
through her hand. She glares at the
BROTHER who sprints out of the room
with a smirk on his face.
SISTER
(Overjoyed)
Ready or not! Here I come!
The SISTER leaps up from the floor.
Her smile as big as the face it’s
planted on.
The SISTER begins to race around the
house; her face begins to turn light
up when she spots a figure out in
the garden.
SISTER
(To herself)
I’ve got you now
The SISTER then skips towards the
garden door and with forceful push
of the handle. She leaps out and
stares at the big tree to the right
of the garden.
The SISTER leaps off the steps down
to the garden and runs towards the
tree. Once their she jumps but finds
no one behind it.
SISTER
(Puzzled while walking around the
tree)
BROTHER? BROTHER? Where did you go?
The SISTER can hear leafs rattling
around her and in a split second
BROTHER
(Intimidating)
BOOO!
The Brother jumps out from a nearby
bush and sprints towards his SISTER.
SISTER
(scared)
AHHHHH!
The SISTER falls to the floor with a
gasp for air, petrified about what
had just occurred.
INT. PLAY ROOM/LIVING ROOM. DAY.
LAILA and DARREN sit in the living room,
playing with their toys. DARREN puts his toy
down and focuses on LAILA. LAILA looks up with
a questioning expression.
Darren:
Have you noticed him?
Laila:
What do you mean?
Darren:
The neighbour! He watches us, when we play
outside, when we play inside, even when we eat
dinner!
LAILA gets up and starts walking
reluctantly towards the window. As she peers
out, she catches the eye of the NEIGHBOUR and
his unnerving stare.
INT. DINNER TABLE. NIGHT
The family are having a home cooked meal.
LAILA is not eating and leaves her plate
empty.
Mother:
Laila honey, what’s up? Why aren’t you eating?
Laila:
Nothing, I’m just not hungry.
LAILA has her back to the window facing the
neighbour, so turns around slowly to look at
the neighbour’s house.
Mother:
Laila, what is it? What are you looking at?
Who’s out there?
Darren:
(SHOUTING)
NO-ONE’S OUT THERE!
DARREN gets up from the dinner table and heads
towards his room, LAILA reluctantly follows
him.
Darren:
(WHISPERS)
You’re meant to keep it a secret.
EXT. STREET. DAY
DARREN and LAILA are walking their dog down
the roads around their house. The dog notices
an animal in the distance so starts running
towards it.
Laila:
What’s wrong with that stupid dog!?
Darren:
Come on, let’s go find him.
DARREN and LAILA both start running in the
direction of the dog. As they get further
down the road, they find some strange
objects scattered on the roadside. Objects
include a bloody t-Shirt, old fashioned toys
and a knife.
Laila:
Darren, what is this?
Darren:
I recognise the t-shirt! I think I’ve seen it
somewhere, but I can’t think where.
Laila:
I think the neighbour was wearing that t-
shirt.
DARREN immediately drops the t-shirt and calls
for his dog. The dog returns, with
a mangled finger in its mouth. Both the
children scream and grab the dog to go back
home.
INT. BEDROOM. NIGHT
The children are in bed and hear noises from
their neighbour. DARREN is the first to get
out of bed and check what is happening. Here
he sees something very very strange.
