The Deepwater Horizon oil spill (also referred to as the BP oil spill) occurred in the Gulf of
Mexico in April of 2010. The spill had detrimental physical, chemical, and biological effects
throughout ecosystems in the Gulf of Mexico. The Deepwater Horizon oil spill being the largest
accidental marine oil spill in the history of the United States, makes it a very important event in US
history. During the event many coastal areas along the Gulf of Mexico were coated with oil,
including the plants, animals, beaches, etc. This directly affected coastal ecosystems in the Gulf,
and as a result, impacted many coastal economies: fishing industries, restaurants/food industries,
tourism, and real estate. Many coastal species were also affected (e.g. dolphins, shorebirds, and
phytoplankton). These issues that are associated with the spill, along with technology and the
media, helped to support the anti BP movement. Much research is still being done, and many long
term effects of the oil spill are still uncertain.

1.In the piece of writing by Jessica Statsky, she writes about children s sports and how they
should not be competitive. In making this claim she uses certain evidence to make her point
valid. In one of her pieces of evidence she uses states that, That a twelve year old trying to throw
a curve ball, for example, may put abnormal strain on developing arm and shoulder muscles,
sometimes resulting in lifelong injuries: (Statsky, 350). From this evidence Statsky is trying to

Discussions concerning torture have always been controversial and upsetting. For the benefit of

discrimination must stop because gay and lesbian couples are law abiding citizens too, who
should be afforded the same rights as heterosexual couples. One common problem that plagues
gay and lesbian couples that are denied the right to marry is their inability to claim their partner s
social security after he or she has died. The Human Rights Campaign, which work to achieve
equal rights for lesbian, gay, bi sexual and transgender people, is supporting the effort to attain

Confucianism is a way of life propagated by the Chinese philosopher Confucius in the 6th 5th
century BCE, and it has been followed by the Chinese for more than 2000 years. Although
Confucianism as changed over time, at its core, it is still places the same emphasis on the substance
of learning, the source of values, and the social code of the Chinese. Additionally, the influence of
Confucianism has extended to other countries such as Korea, Japan, and Vietnam.
While Confucianism is sometimes viewed as a philosophy or religion, Confucianism is probably
best understood as a sort of all encompassing way of thinking and living, which includes such
practices as: ancestor reverence and human centered religiousness over that of the environment.

The epic poem, Inferno was written in the 14th century by Dante Alighieri, it follows Dante the
Pilgrim as he descends the 9 Circles of Hell. Along with his aid Virgil, Dante witnesses the different
sins and punishments of each circle, each more gruesome than the last. Dante, the Pilgrim, is able
to see many sinners from these circles and hear their stories, he also learns about the many
monstrous dangers in Hell. Dante Alighieri, an Italian poet, wrote Infernoafter he had been
banished from his hometown of Florence. Because of the time period and the fact that he had been
exiled, Dantes views on such sins as lust and flattery were biased. Two sinners that exemplify the
development of Lust and Flattery are Alexander Hamiltonand Anne Boleyn. Throughout time, sins
such as Lust and Flattery have stayed the same because of the human need to blame others for their
actions and the want for power.
The behavior of Lust across time has stayed the same because humans are mainly unable to take
responsibility for their actions. Lust is a passionate or overmastering desire or craving, usually

South Africans had been living under the system of apartheid since 1948 where citizens were

The novel Indian Horse , by Richard Wagamese inculpates perfectly what the kids went through
before, during and after residential schools. The book also gives insight on current issues that the
survivors of the schoolface after they are dropped into the real world. It is also important that
older generations read this novel as older people have not learned about residential schools while
they were in school. Canadians need to read Indian horse by Richard Wagamese in order to
discover why reconciliation is needed for the Aboriginal people of Canada.
Children had to endure many terrible and horrific things while attending a residential school. They
endured physical, mental and sexual related trauma. Many of these things happened to Saul (the
books protagonist) while attending St. Jerome s (the residential school). Saul had to deal with
being sexually assaulted by a character named Father Leboutilier numerous times. It s a big part of
the book because it shows how the kids would not accept reality, they would rather doubt or never
