When Should Transgender Identification Begin
Research on Transgender Identification in Youth or Adulthood
The question at hand is whether or not it is more beneficial for a person with gender dysphoria to be
able to express the gender for which they identify with at a young age, or later, in adulthood.
In regards to sociology, symbolic interactionism is ideal for examining the way in which sociological
theory relates to transgender issues. This is because symbolic interactionism is the study of how
people relate to one another and their environment, but specifically how the relations between each
other have an effect on their environment. Blumer s conceptualization of symbolic interactionism,
known as the situational approach is the one most often used in sex research (Longmore, ... Show

Hopefully, by gaining insight into these interactions, it will help inform whether or not it is beneficial
for a child to be able to express their gender identity at a young age or whether it is more beneficial for
them to wait until adulthood.
A theory that would give insight into the research question in relation to psychology would be identity
theory. Stryker and Burke (2006) have the most relevant ideas on identity theory that would inform the
research question. In identity theory, it is used to show how people identify with being a particular
type of person; how they take on social roles and belong to social groups (Burke, 2006). Stryker
claimed that the greater number of people one is committed to being a certain type of person around
the more they identify with being that type of person (Burke, 2006). This poses interesting insight into
the research question of whether or not it is beneficial for a child to express their gender identity at a
young age and be out with everyone they know, or for an adult to have to slowly bring their identity
into existence among people individually and how this may have an effect on the person. Stryker also

Causes Of Refugee Women In Rohingya
Bangladesh is an impoverished country of over 160 million people. In its short history as an
independent nation, Bangladesh has faced an Independent war, massive internal displacement, famines
and frequent natural disasters. In addition, Bangladesh is hosting over 200,000 Rohingya refugees
from Burma in the eastern region(AKM.Ahsan, 2011 p.139). The Rohingya ethnic minority of Burma
are trapped between severe repression in their homeland and abuse in neighboring countries.
Bangladesh has hosted thousands of Rohingyas fleeing persecution for more than three decades, but at
least 200,000 Rohingya refugees have no legal rights there (Samima Kayoko,2014 p.225). They live
in squalor, receive very limited aid and are subject to arrest, extortion and detention. Refugee women
and girls are particularly vulnerable to sexual and physical attacks. In the registered refugee camp
their movement is highly restricted; they have no permission to go outside from the camp. In the camp
they live in small shed which is allotted for 7 members (Source). There is no electricity and have not
any recreation. They have no work in the camp. So they become very frustrated and it directly affects
women through violence. For the purpose, the study aims to shed light on violence against womenin
Rohingya camp. It intends to analyze the root causes of violence against refugee women and
investigate who is the perpetrator of violence.

Utopia in Gulliver Travels and Paradise Lost Essay
The Inconceivable Utopia in Gulliver Travels and Paradise Lost
In Jonathon Swift s Gulliver Travels and in John Milton s Paradise Lost, the reader is presented with
two lands representing utopias. For Swift this land is an island inhabited by horse like creatures called
Houyhnhnms who rule over man like beasts called Yahoos. For Milton, the Garden of Eden before the
Fall of man represents Paradise. In it, Adam and Eve are pure and innocent, untested and faithful to
God. The American Heritage Dictionary defines utopia as an ideally perfect place, especially in its
social, political, and moral aspects. And while Houyhnhnm Land and the Garden of Eden may seem
like ideally perfect places, they are not. Indeed, they contradict our ... Show more content on

The prospect of utopia, that is, an unchanging static society, has little appeal compared to the prospect
of trying to reach such an exalted existence. And it s this idea of progress that we often associate with
the idea of utopia. Appealing as it may seem, an utopia is a double edged sword. It is both the end
result of our desires and an end to those desires. Because ending our desire goes against our human
nature, the notion of utopia can no longer exist to the human mind. Therefore, neither the Garden of
Eden nor the island of the Houyhnhnms is an utopia because both societies are unchanging. In them,
both progress and desire is forbidden.
In Book IV of Gulliver s Travels, Gulliver s ship is mutinied and he is forced into exile to a strange
island. On this island he first encounters a rare breed of animal. He describes them, Their heads and
breasts were covered with a thick hair, some frizzled and others lank; they had beards like goats, and a
long ridge of hair down their backs (2403). These creatures are Yahoos, an inferior species that s very
human in nature and in physical form. Next Gulliver meets the Houyhnhmns, rational horses who rule
over the human like Yahoos. These two types of creatures symbolize both extremes of human nature,
that of reason and emotion. The Yahoos are described as detestable beings driven by passion and
emotion while the Houyhnhmns are reveled by Gulliver because of their

Organizational Metaphors
Organizational Metaphors Maria F. Shoemaker South University April 19, 2012 Organizational
Metaphors The two metaphors that I am about to describe to you are machines and organisms. I am
also going to note what each metaphor suggests about how humans and their behavior are perceived in
the organization. I will also let you know the similarities and differences in the two metaphors. Also
conclude on how the ability to switch between metaphors might enhance effective leadership and
organizational behavior. The machines one tends to think of inputs and outputs, standardization,
productivity, measurement, and control. The organization tends to want the workers to just perform

We must see that organizations exist in the socioeconomic environment the way fish exist in the
ocean, and the way we exist in the physical environment. In knowing the similarities and differences
in each metaphor, the manager of the organization will be able to use the organism in the area that it is
needed the most and also use the machine in the area where it is needed the most. The organism can
adapt to different environments and the machine can perform repetitively the same functions. The
metaphors are most valuable in the organization once you train and coach ones employees, you will
know which metaphor is best used within the organization. References Book Morgan, G. (2006).

Why the Reconstruction Stopped After the Civil War Essay
Reconstruction has been brutally murdered! For a little over a decade after the Civil War, the
victorious North launched a campaign of social, economic, and political recovery in the former
Confederacy and to readmit the land in the former Confederacy back into the United States as states.
Reconstruction yielded many benefits for African Americans. The 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments
freed African Americans, made them citizens, and gave them the right to vote respectively. The
Freedmen s Bureau also provided African Americans and poor whites with education, jobs, and
supplies. Despite this, Reconstruction was cut short in 1877. The North killed Reconstruction because
of racism, negligence, and distractions. One reason the North killed ... Show more content on

Obviously, this was a foolhardy move by the North. The amnesty of Southerners gave racist
Southerners another chance to dominate the South with racism and hate. The North also had failed to
stop black codes. These laws restricted African Americans rights such as congregating, bearing arms,
working for other African Americans, and coming within town limits (Black Codes). Finally, the
North was oblivious to the antics of the Ku Klux Klan, a white nationalist hate group. After the
murder of John W. Stephens, Albion Tourgee claimed that he had very little doubt that I (sic) shall be
one of the next victims (Tourgee, 1870). If Albion Tourgee had so little doubt that he would be a
victim of the Ku Klux Klan, then it was probably not safe for Republicans, scalawags, and
carpetbaggers in the South during Reconstruction. The North was responsible for providing safety in
the South for Republicans, carpetbaggers, scalawags, and African Americans. This would have proved
that the North was negligent. Therefore, if the North had not been negligent, the African Americans,
scalawags, and carpetbaggers would have been safe during and after Reconstruction even if the South
had intentions to harm them. During the course of Reconstruction, the North was distracted and
needed to shift their focus from Reconstruction to other affairs. The Panic of 1873 created an
atmosphere where people began to oppose Reconstruction (Danzer, 1998). The Grant

Contamination of Drinking-Water by Arsenic in Bangladesh
Introduction: There are metal substances which have mixed up with the river water of Bangladesh.
The substance is known as Arsenic in Bangladesh. It was first found in the West Bengal ten years ago
(1995 96). Arsenic is both toxic and carcinogenic. It is in inorganic forms, dissolved in drinking water
which is the most significant forms of natural exposure. Organic forms of arsenic that may be present
in food are much less toxic to humans. Clinical manifestations of arsenic poisoning begin with various
forms of skin diseases, which lead to damage of internal organs, ultimately to cancer and death. Cause
of Arsenic: This toxic element is found in tub well water. People are affected by it only when ... Show

Systems using LS may require secondary treatment to meet that goal. Activated Alumina (AA) is
effective in treating water with high total dissolved solids (TDS). However, selenium, fluoride,
chloride, and sulfate, if present at high levels, may compete for adsorption sites. AA is highly selective
towards As(V); and this strong attraction results in regeneration problems, possibly resulting in 5 to 10
percent loss of adsorptive capacity for each run. Application of point of use treatment devices would
need to consider regeneration and replacement. Ion Exchange (IE) can effectively remove arsenic.
However, sulfate, TDS, selenium, fluoride, and nitrate compete with arsenic and can affect run length.
Passage through a series of columns could improve removal and decrease regeneration frequency.
Suspended solids and precipitated iron can cause clogging of the IE bed. Systems containing high
levels of these constituents may require pretreatment. Reverse Osmosis (RO) provided removal
efficiencies of greater than 95 percent when operating pressure is at ideal psi. If RO is used by small
systems in the western U. S. , 60% water recovery will lead to an increased need for raw water. The
water recovery is the volume of water produced by the process divided by the influent stream (product
water/influent stream). Discharge of reject water or brine may also be a concern. If RO is used by
small systems in the western U. S. , water

Time And Place To Meditate
Where, and when to meditate
Presumably, easier to find time and place to meditate, as long as you live alone. However, if you live
with a family, you are confronted with additional complications. Fortunately, in the beginning, it is
enough five ten minutes to be alone, to sit on your cushion. Later, as a more advanced meditator,
probably you will want more time, by then hopefully, your family might be accustomed already to
your meditation habit, and likely they won t hinder you. We were talking about what type of
meditation could be the best for you. Now we discuss the best time and the place to meditate.
Where to meditate?
Foremost, let s begin with the easiest, the breath meditation. Usually, the recommendation for that, it
should take twenty thirty minutes. Initially, it can be troublesome to find a fixed time for it. Besides, it
may feel tiring to sit still that long. Moreover, you can have too many disturbing thoughts, you do not
know what to do with, or perhaps it just seems way too boring to sit half an hour without doing
anything.

nature. The more action you fit into a given time, the less experience will remain in your memory in
the future. In case, you regularly operate in a multitask mode; you let the worth remembering
moments flow away between your fingers. On the other hand, meanwhile, you give yourself enough
time to enjoy what you are doing, paying attention to the present, interestingly, your memory will be

The Advanced Practice Nurse Is On The Front Lines Of Care
The advanced practice nurse is on the front lines of care being received or falling short within their
community. By having direct asses to the success and failures of health care in the community, the
advanced practice nurse (APN) can be the voice of patient to the officials having an impact on health
care accessibility. The purpose of this paper is to address a current problem by evaluating multiple
influencing factors and investigate a policy capable of changing and providing a more positive
outcome.
Problem Identification
Men and women serve in the United States armed forces in hopes of receiving the promise of a
dependable income and reliable benefits. The primary influence for those joining the armed forces is
tuition reimbursement followed by health care benefits (Clever, Segal, 2013). The majority of enlisted
military only serve for seven years and often work in minimum wage jobs without health insurance
after departing from the military. Before the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, veterans
could only utilize veteran hospitals and outpatient clinics for military related health problems (United
States Department of Veterans Affairs, 2016). Once the Affordable Care Act was initiated, all veterans
could utilize veteran medical services for any of their health care needs. The problem needing to be
addressed is the number of veteran facilities available to provide treatment for the vast amount of
veterans now qualified for medical services.

the first few stanzas to emphasize the severity of the father and his families grief and despair. In these

This is significant because it emphasizes the melancholy and mournfulness that he depicts with
imagery in the first stanza. Later on in the second stanza, he author describes the tree the narrator
would have planted as a green sapling rising among the twisted apple boughs . The author uses visual
color imagery of the color green to describe the sapling in order to emphasize just how young the
newborn was when he died. Later on in the poem, the narrator speaks of himself and his brothers
kneeling in front of the newly plated tree. The fact that they are kneeling represents respect for the
deceased. When the narrator mentions that the weather is cold it is a reference back to the first stanza
when he says of an old year coming to an end . Later on in the third stanza the author writes all that
remains above earth of a first born son which means that the deceased child has been buried. They
also compare the child to the size of a few stray atoms to emphasize that he was an infant. All of these
symbols and comparisons to are significant because they are tied to the central assertion of
remembrance and honoring of the dead with the family and rebirth. Furthermore, the last two stanzas

Difference Between Stockholder And Stakeholders
Chapter 11
1. What is the difference between stockholder and stakeholders to a company
A company s stakeholders are individuals or groups with an interest, claim, or stake in the company, in
what it does, and in how well it performs. They include stockholders, creditors, employee customers,
the communities in which the company does business, and the general public.
A company s stockholders are usually put in a different class from other stakeholder groups, and for
good reason. Stockholders are legal owners and the providers of risk capital, a major source of the
capital resources that allow a company to operate its business. The capital that stockholders provide to
a company is seen as risk capital because there is no guarantee that stockholders will ever recoup their
investment and/or earn a decent return.
2. How ethics in any business responds to stakeholders concerns
The ethical issues that strategic managers confront cover many topics, but most are due to a potential
conflict between the goals of the enterprise, or the goals of individual managers, and the fundamental
rights of important stakeholders, including stockholders, customers, employees, suppliers,
competitors, communities, and the general public. Stakeholders have basic rights that should be
respected, and it is unethical to violate those rights.
Stockholders have the right to timely and accurate information about their investment and it is
unethical to violate that right. Customers have the right to be

Chemical Reactions And The Chemical Reaction
Introduction
Chemistry is a branch of science commonly defined as the study of the structure, properties, and
reactions of the chemical elements and the compounds they form (The American Heritage Science
Dictionary, 2002). This definition is very general and covers a range of study areas, including those
that are an asset to society. Chemical reactions are studied by many chemists as they common
occurrences in everyday life (Stewart, 2014). Without chemical reactions people would be unable to
perform simple tasks that are essential for quality of life and even life itself, such as cooking, lighting
a match and breathing (Helmenstine, 2015). A chemical reaction occurs when a chemical change takes
place, producing new substances. However, all chemical reactions are different and vary greatly in the
time it takes for them to occur (Chem4kids.com, 2015).
A Reaction rate is the speed it takes for a chemical reaction to occur. That is, how fast a reactant is
used up or a product is formed (BBC, 2014). Rates of reaction are essential in important tasks such are
medicine administration and it is therefore crucial for scientists to understand how they work and what
affects them (Lofts, 2012). The mechanics of reaction rates is based around the theory of collision,
proposed by Max Trautz and William Lewis in the early 1900 s. The theory suggests that reactant
particles must collide for a chemical reaction to occur, the more collisions that occur, the faster the
reaction rate will

Should The Articles Of Confederation Or Write A New...
In 1787, a group of fifty five American delegates, met in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to attend the
Constitutional Convention to work out problems with the way the country was run. This involved
improving and revising the old Articles of Confederation. Instead of revising the Articles of
Confederation to make the government work better, the delegates came up with a plan for a new form
of government, the United States Constitution. During the writing and ratifying of the Constitution,
there were some fundamental issues being debated. The main debate was about whether to amend the
Articles of Confederation or write a new constitution. James Madison, a member of the Virginia
Assembly, moved the convention along but proposing a document he had drafted called the Virginia

state governments, more than one executive and one vote of legislation for each state. The plan
allowed each state to keep its independence. The plan did not stop the states from violating foreign
treaties, or from entering into treaties, or wars. James Madison was against the New Jersey Plan.
Madison insisted that the New Jersey Plan did not improve any of the flaws of the Articles of
Confederation. The Virginia Plan was finally approved as the plan to be used to construct the new

that have been enacted under austerity are more detrimental than the data would lead us to believe.

Differences Between The Crucible Movie And Movie
The Crucible, an original play written by Arthur Miller, has had a multitude of adaptations come out
after its release in 1953. Among these adaptations are the movie, The Crucible, directed by Nicholas
Hytner and starring Daniel Day Lewis and Winona Ryder and local performances of the play, such as
the one seen at the Civic Theatre. The Crucible is about the people of Salem, MA and trouble of the
accusations of witchery after Abigail, the niece of Reverend Parris, has an affair with the married John
Proctor and he denies her when she attempts to do it again. Specifically, Abigail s reaction to the
rejection in the movie is portrayed so much more realistic than it is in the play and the entire cast
portraying their characters realistically for how it was appropriate for the setting of the movie.
Although the movie was exceptional in content, the universal portrayal of the characters was better in
the movie. Overall, The Crucible movie version, directed by Nicholas Hytner, portrayed the characters
better the play because Winona Ryder portrayed Abigail Williams better than the written play did, and
the cast as a whole worked together to create the mood of the historical time period of both the Salem
Witch Trials and the communist era. Additionally, even though the written play was amazing due to it
being first , the movie was still better at portraying the development of the characters.
In the movie adaptation of The Crucible, the character of Abigail Williams was portrayed

Allied Bombing Of Germany In Ww2 Analysis
Assess the significance of the Allied bombing of Germany in WWII
Despite the allied bombing of Germany in WWII perhaps appearing to be significant, overall, it was
only such to a limited extent. It is possible to analyse the extent to which the bombing was significant
in four aspects: economic, morale, international relations and others theatres of war. The extent to
which they were significant will be assessed against their respective pre war expectations. Whilst each
dimension are important, I am going to specifically focus on economic and moral because they were
the main objectives of the Allies, and directly affected Germany.
Beginning with the economic aspect, by bombing Germany, the Allies strived to damage their
economy, as well as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the whole, this is the most significant point that will be discussed because simply, the Eastern
Front is where the war was won and it also facilitated the landing of the allied troops in Normandy D
Day. Stalin had been longing for the opening of the second front to draw German tanks and infantry
away from the Eastern Front. The crucial aerial bombing meant that Germany had to withdraw anti
tank guns from the Eastern front and instead, use them to fight the British bombers in the sky. This
was evident with the AA Defence System (88mm tank guns) which could no longer inflict damage
upon the Red Army and the Soviets. Similarly, the Germans had to divert money and manpower
(infantry) to provide a significant enough opposition to discourage the Allies from continuing with
their long range offensives. As well as diversion of resources, the priority of the German
manufacturers shifted greatly whereby the number of fighters increased on the German front from
1405 to 1650 in 1943 44, but decreased on the Eastern Front from 445 to 425 in 1943 44. The switch
of bombers to fighters meant that troops on the front line did not have a protective air force. This,
along with the minimalised production of weapons, reduced the war effort served by the Germans on
the Eastern Front. The only fight which the Germans could put up there was defensive which
inevitably, gave

Comparing Dundee University s Heat Energy Systems And...
Introduction
This report shows the differences and the similarities between Dundee University s heat energy
systems and those that are employed by Hillcrest Housing Association. The main technologies used in
the university are gas fired engines, whereas the Hillcrest building which has a biomass boiler. As far
as models of ownership are concerned, the University has established a wholly owned operating
company DUUSCo to undertake the Project. While, although owned by Hillcrest the biomass system
is operated and maintained under a 10 year agreement by Angus Biofuels who sell the energy to
Hillcrest. Finally, comparing the risks associated with security of energy delivery we can say that they
are similar. Even if the two heating systems are different, both of them had the same goal, reducing the
energy used and achieve low energy consumption. And move a step closer to sustainable and zero
carbon buildings. An explanation of zero carbon meaning is given.

It s recorded in the Bible that there were judges. Judges were different in the Bible compared to judges
now in the twenty first century. Judges back then were deliverers chosen by God to deliver Israel s
people from their enemies. Judges now are public officials chosen to decide cases in a court of law.
Othniel The first well known judge in the Bible was Othniel. Othniel is first spoken about in Judges

How Does Mary Oliver Use Nature In Poetry
Poets, like many writers, have used nature as their topic of choice for centuries. Two specific poets
used nature in similar ways in their poems. They took different approaches in the type of poem they
wrote, however. Ode to enchanted light by Pablo Neruda and Sleeping in the Forest by Mary Oliver
are two poems that are similar in topic and figurative language but are different in form.
Both poems use nature as the main topic and use similes and metaphors as figurative language to
compare nature to life. In Ode to enchanted light Neruda tells about the sun shining through the trees
and other comparisons with nature. Oliver, in Sleeping in the Forest describes what it s like to spend
the night in the forest in similar ways. Under the trees light/has dropped from the top of the
sky,/light/like a green/latticework of branches.... (1 5). This quotation, taking place in nature, uses a
simile to compare how light from the sun shines through the trees making it look like a lattice. This
quote is similar to Sleeping in the Forest because Mary Oliver uses a simile to compare her thoughts,
out in nature, to moths floating through the branches of a tree. As you can see, both ... Show more

Pablo Neruda s poem is an ode meaning is praises or celebrates something like the beauty in nature.
Sleeping in the Forest is considered a free verse poem so her poem has no consistent rhyme or pattern.

my thoughts, and they floated/light as moths among the branches/of the perfect trees. (5 11) This
quote shows there is no rhyme scheme or consistent rhythm to the poem; instead it sounds more like
natural speech. Ode to enchanted light follows a more traditional poem format with stanzas and
patterns usually seen in odes. This demonstrates the main difference found between these two

Leading Change Is Never Easy
Leading change is never easy. Many individuals want to reach their goals fast, but the process of
change takes time. It needs patience, persistence and learning from mistakes (Marhánková, 2010). The
centre for the aging needs a change in the activities that take place. Currently, the events that are
scheduled in the center are not serving the purpose they should. The members feel that they do not
personally associate with the events like bingo, trivia, and reading the newspaper. The individuals
need to have a sense of belonging, and the right activities will help them with their socialization. As
the director of activities, I have developed a vision statement for the change that I want to implement

range gives the members an array of activities to choose from, and they can go for one they love and
not just engage in an activity because it is the only one available. The staff members will have an
easier job because the patron will be occupied and happy with the new events, which means that the
staff is not so engrossed in what is happening with the patrons.
The theories of aging especially disengagement, modernization, and activity theories emphasize on the
importance of the social aspect in those who are aging (Charles, Carstensen, 2010). The members have
had to change their lives and have lost some roles they used to undertake especially now that they are
at the center. Provision of other social activities means that the individuals can get a replacement for
the roles they have lost by being away from their homes and families (Jin, 2010). These activities will
help establish a positive sense of self because they feel useful, and it usually matters to them that they
can still engage in such activities. The change will ensure that the seniors are able to develop a
positive self concept because they will feel useful. The change will also help them develop a sense of
belonging because they will be engaging in an activity of their choice, which means it is something
they love doing. They will also socialize with each

Do we survive death?
Recall: In the Do we survive Death? the most important questions that Rachels has tried to make are
several points 1) is our soul immortal? 2) Argument on if we can really have another life after death?
3) If we believe in another life, reincarnation and psychics who claim to communicate with dead then
why do they do they have to do different tricks, or lie that the evidence has occurred? 4) If we have

Essay The Theme of Blindness in King Lear
The Theme of Blindness in King Lear
In the tragedy King Lear, the term blindness has an entirely different meaning. It is not a physical
flaw, but the inability of the characters to see a person for whom they truly are. They can only read
what is presented to them on the surface. King Lear, Gloucester and Albany are three prime examples
characters who suffered most by having this flaw.
Lear was by far the blindest of the three. Because Lear was the King, one would expect him to have
superb reasoning skills, but his lack of insight kept him from making wise choices. This is the flaw
that led to his downfall.
Lear s first big mistake was letting himself be fooled by Regan and Goneril, and giving them his

Regan would not provide him with shelter during a furious storm, Lear realized that they were the
daughters who did not love him. He also began to understand the words of Cordelia from the
beginning of the play, he realized that she loved him too much to put into words.
When Lear and Cordelia finally reunited near the end of the play, Lear expressed his sorrow for what
he had done. You must bear with me, I pray you now, forget and forgive:/ I am old an foolish. ( 4, 7.
82 ) But it was too late, Lear s rashness and inability to see clearly had already cost him, and Cordelia
their lives.
Lear was not the only character to suffer from blindness, Gloucester too, had lack of insight. He could
not see the goodness of his son Edgar, and the wickedness of Edmund. A forged letter was the only
evidence needed to convince Gloucester that Edgar was plotting to kill him. Immediately after reading
the letter Gloucester screams in a rage;

Worse than brutish! Go, sirrah, seek him; I ll/ apprehend him. Abominable villain! Where is he? (1, 2.

How to Change a Flat Tire
Suppose you are driving to your local convenience store. Suddenly, you hit a sharp object, and your
tire blows. What do you do? Do you panic and call roadside assistance, or are you lucky enough to
have the knowledge to replace the tire? It is surprising that many people have no idea how to change a

Learning this skill will help you become more independent and get you back on the road quicker.
Luckily, it is not that hard to learn. Follow these simple steps, and you will have a new tire on your car
in approximately eight to ten minutes.
We have already set the scene for how you got a flat tire: you are driving to the local store, suddenly,
you run over something sharp and your tire pops. The key step in this process is to stay calm and try to
think logically so that you do not make any dangerous mistakes. First, find a safe place to park your
car. Make sure that you have room to work and that you are safe from oncoming traffic. Next, lock
your emergency brakes. It is very important to do this. This will prevent your car from rolling into
oncoming traffic. There are many accidents that can happen during this whole process. For example,
you or someone else could get hit by the car if the steps are not followed precisely. If you are on a

STORY COMMENTS
THE UNRAPTURED is a faith based, thriller that sends a strong message about the power of
believing. The script explores the danger of a society that oppresses one s belief. The script is targeted
toward a teenage audience. In fact, there s a very likable teen protagonist that drives the story. The
tone is consistently dramatic. The script examines solid themes about faith, destiny, and believing.
There are many twists and turns consistent with a thriller. Thriller techniques are also used, such as the
sense of being stalked and the threat of harm or death. There also are some well crafted action
sequences.
The story presents with both strengths and weaknesses. The highlights are Troy and Jacey. What s
very intriguing about the presentation is the realization that Troy and others have no idea of the history
about religion and have no idea who Jesus Christ was.
With that said, the overall script would benefit from further development in the areas of the structure,
the pace, and clarification, as well as further character

The hours and conditions that a veterinarian have depends upon the type of work setting they are in.
Their salaries can compare to those in other fields requiring similar education. The salaries vary
according to experience, responsibility, location, and type of practice.
Employment opportunities for veterinarians are expected to grow for all veterinary related
occupations. Rising incomes, education, and the movement of baby boomers is expected to raise the
percent of household pets. Single adults and senior citizens have come to appreciate animal

Modern Heroine By Kate Chopin
Modern Heroine A heroine to me is often an average woman in an unexpected situation, which,
despite the odds being piled against her, she usually overcomes in the end. In today s culture, women
have overcome many difficulties to be able to work, teach, vote, have a voice in the government, and
even are CEOs. Some people believe that some of these achievements are because of examples that
come from literature that have led women to believe in, motivate, and stand up for themselves. In
literature the amount of the things that a woman protagonist can do has also changed. Back in the
1800s women characters, whether fictional or not, could not be portrayed as rebellious, working, or
even sexual beings. Of course there were some authors that did not follow these rules and they were
not being published. Others, instead, wrote their works in a way that would be accepted by society
rules, however, they were still making strong minded women protagonists. One of these very famous
authors is Kate Chopin. In every short story or novel her main character was a female. Not many
writers during the mid to late 19th century were bold enough to address subjects that Chopin took on.
Some of Chopin s work could not be published until years after her death because of the strong themes
that she knew would not be accepted in the world she lived in back then but she just wrote life as she

Joel Feinberg Psychological Egoism Analysis
Psychological egoism is the interpretation that humans are always inspired by self interest, even in
what seem to be acts of altruism. It claims that, when people choose to help others, they do so
ultimately because of the personal benefits that they themselves expect to obtain, directly or indirectly,
from doing so. Psychological egoism, which was widely recognized by psychologists and
philosophers states that all human actions are motivated by selfish needs to benefit themselves.
According to psychological egoists true altruism does not exist because the consequence of such an
act leads to an increase in personal happiness. However, Joel Feinberg does not agree with that theory
and in his essay he disagreed with the thesis that altruism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He would have explained to me that even though some philosopher could argue that all of our acts are
considered as selfish since the main source of our action is us therefore it does make sense that our
only motif is to obtain pleasure for ourselves. As mentioned in the Internet Encyclopedia of
Philosophy, Psychological egoists cannot establish their view simply by pointing to the pleasure or
self benefit that accompanies so many actions. After all, often self benefit only seems to be what we
ultimately desire, though a closer look reveals benefits like pleasure are likely just byproducts while
the proximate desire is for that which generates them ( Psychological Egoism). Joel Feinberg would
explain that the acts that are generated to help others even though we can receive pleasure for acting
such way could be and should be considered as an altruistic act. Pleasure can be a byproduct of a good
deed but what matters is what generated the good deed and if it s for a good reason and to help others
it should be considered as an altruistic

Compare And Contrast Plato And The Matrix
Plato and The Matrix Compare and Contrast
In comparing the movie The Matrix to Plato s The Allegory of the Cave, both have a theme of trying
to find the truth. In the Matrix, Neo is confronted with a difficult choice. Either he can choose the blue
pill and forget that Morpheus ever confronted him with such news of the Matrix or he can take the red
pill and find out the truth, which is that he has been living in a simulated fantasy world. The Allegory
of the Cave is similar in that Plato attempts to explain reality. There are some epistemology questions
that occur in both situations such as, what is truth, how do we find it, and how reliable are our
perceptions? The people that are prisoners in the cave cannot see the world beyond the cave except for
glimmers of light reflecting off the wall and therefore believe that the cave is the real world when in
fact if they could escape to the outer world they would realize that outside the cave, in the light, is
actually the real world. Another example of comparison is Plato s two world belief, a world of being
and a world of becoming.
The contrasts between the Matrix and the excerpt from Plato are that in the Matrix, the perceived
reality that Neo is experiencing is a better description of what the reality outside the Matrix actually is.
Outside the Matrix, Neo discovers a very dark, chaotic, and weird place. Whereas, the cave depicted
in Plato s story is a scary and dark place and his place of ultimate reality is in the light

Femal Arousal Disorder
FEMALE AROUSAL DISORDER
In recent years more then ever women are being studied for problems with sexual disorders and
dysfunction s Sexual disorders and dysfunction s refer to difficulties individuals experience in their
sexual functioning. (O Donohue, Geer) In the past when sexual problems were studied amongst
women
the focus was on the orgasmic phase, with such problems as Vaginismus, Dyspareunia and
Anorgasmia,
rather than on the arousal phase. Even in 1970 when Masters and Johnson published their famous
book
Human Sexual Inadequacy, they omitted form their finding associated with arousal disorder in
women for reasons unknown. However many contemporary sex researchers, reason that arousal

However as early as 1966, Master s and Johnson examined physiological responses that
occurred during pregnancy and they found that pregnancy itself produced pelvic vasocongestion, and
the

present themselves in extremely high levels. The combination of estrogen and progesterone during
pregnancy will surely effect sexual desire and arousal. The physical changes that accompany
pregnancy
such as vasocongestion, edema and pressure of the fetus have also been known to hamper the sexual
arousal process for women. Other physical symptoms such as morning sickness; changes in body
image tend to also play a significant role in whether women are able to become sexually aroused or
not.
(Master, Johnson) As Falicov reported in 1973 many of his subjects feared engaging in sexual
activities,
while pregnant, for the simple fact they believed that they might injure the maturing fetus. As one

Etiology Of Schizophrenia Essay
Schizophrenia is a mental illness which affects the lives of the individual, their families and society
(Murray Lopez, 1996). The term Schizophrenia is often utilized to describe a major psychotic disorder
that alters the way an individual think, feels or acts (NCCMH, 2010). It is often worth noting that each
person who develops this mental illness possess their own unique combinations of symptoms and
experiences. Schizophrenia has been the subject of an ongoing controversy regarding its etiology and
treatment. Biological, environmental and social factors play a pivotal role in understanding
Schizophrenia and determining the outcomes. An individual suffering from Schizophrenia are usually
defined by the presence of delusions, hallucinations, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Research that has been conducted so far has attempted to determine the role of biological,
psychological and social factors but unfortunately, evidence does not point to any single factor.
Literature suggests that the etiology of schizophrenia and related psychoses results from a complex
interaction of multiple factors (Broome et al., 2005; Garety et al., 2007). Nuechterlein Dawson (1984)
suggest that much of the conducted research on the etiology of schizophrenia is consistent with the
vulnerability stress model. The vulnerability stress explains that individuals have different levels of
vulnerability to the mental illness schizophrenia. These levels are determined by the interaction
between biological, social and psychological factors. The research of Neuchterlein Dawson (1984)
proposed that vulnerability results in the development of problems if there was a presence of
environmental stressors. This proposal states that if there is great vulnerability, low levels of stress
might be sufficient to cause problems. On the other hand, if an individual possess less vulnerability,
problems only arise with higher levels of stress. Although the etiology of schizophrenia is not well
understood, this model is consistent with a variety of putative causes of this mental disorder, in
addition to the differential relapse and readmission rates that are overserved among people suffering

Harlem Renaissance the Hip Hop Movement
Harlem Renaissance and the Hip hop Movement
AN OVERVIEW The Harlem Renaissance and the Hip Hop Movement are a culmination of co related
cultural art forms that have emerged out of the black experience. White people understood black
people more through their expression of art during both movements. Both movements brought about a
broad cross racial following and, ironically, in both instances brought about a better understanding of
the black experience for white America. The bridge between Be Bop and Hip Hop was made by
Quincy Jones with the Back on the Block project; which featured such artists as Dizzie Gillespie,
Miles Davis, Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald, Tevin Campbell, Ice Tea, Big Daddy Kane, Al B Sure,

Rent parties allowed for the residents of Harlem and other poor ghettos to pay their rent on time and
avoid eviction. The rent party also represented the way that African Americans overcame the
oppressive surroundings of the ghetto. For example, in Rent Party Jazz , written by William Miller, a
jazz musician gives a rent party in order to raise money for a certain family in need. In this way, rent
parties not only assisted people in paying the rent, but it also helped the growth and development of
jazz as a music genre. Through jazz music and the celebratory nature of the parties, a community was
built. [3] [4] The Harlem Renaissance arguably lasted about 15 years and is said to have ended with
the onset of the Great Depression. The European American infatuation with the Negro declined in the
1930s, in large part due to the collapse of the stock market. Also, the depression exposed the economic
vulnerability of Harlem, given that much of the real estate in Harlem was owned by European
Americans; and when the depression hit, African Americans lost their jobs at faster rates than
European Americans, caused foreclosures on mortgages, evictions from rental properties, and a
depression and alienation from the American Dream that was expressed violently in the first modem
race riot,

Pros And Cons Of Painkillers
Is the misuse of painkillers worth losing a life? A study was performed in West Virginia looking at 295
accidental deaths from pain killers and found nearly 2 out of 3 of those who died overdosed on pain
killers, did not have a prescription (Shmerling, 2008). Today in society, there are many prescription
pain killers physicians can choose from to administer to patients. However, statistics show that the
most common narcotic painkillers used are Oxycodone, Percocet, and Vicodin. The number of people
abusing prescription drugs, including opioids, more than doubled, from 7.8 million in 1992 to 15.1
million in 2003 (Gupta Christo, 2009). The misuse of prescription painkillers among the general
population in the United States is quickly rising to a state of an epidemic. Many people today take
prescription painkillers to help cope with pain. Even though prescription painkillers can provide relief
of excessive pain, the result of taking prescription painkillers is not always a good outcome. Taking
these painkillers can easily lead to a misuse of the painkillers. In many cases, fear of uncontrolled pain
may cause the patient to increase the dose without ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Users of painkillers such as Oxycodone, Percocet, and Vicodin can obtain these substances from a
variety of ways. Most ways are illegal since users are taking the prescription painkillers without a

associated with misusing them. There are many signs, symptoms, and side effects that are presented
when a person misuses prescription painkillers. Even though this problem has been on the rise in the
United States recently, health care providers and agencies are trying to come up with ways to help
treat and prevent the increase of the abuse of prescription painkillers and eventually gaining control of

The Hip Hop Culture
In seventh grade, I stumbled my way upon the Detroit based rapper Eminem. I was at 150 listens on
his track The Real Slim Shady before I knew it. I then found my way into Kanye West, which
exploded my interest into the genre. I have listened to all of the considered essential hip hop classic
and modern day albums. I noticed in these classic albums very distinct change in subject matter and
style that each of the different areas of rappers on where they originate from. Some people believe that
the hip hop culture is at a decline with the lose of this uniqueness and individuality shown in each of
these areas. I too even thought that the hip hop culture was at a decline until I was researching my
topic, but instead this individuality and uniqueness in the rapper s different stories that they tell in
their raps. The genre has expanded throughout the world and continued to evolve while sticking to
these roots of individuality and uniqueness. As Tricia Rose explains in A Style Nobody Can Deal
With, hip hop culture originated in the mid to late 1970s in urban New York as a way for minorities to
express themselves. In the beginning, hip hop culture consisted of four elements , or ways of
expression: rapping, DJing, break dancing, and graffiti (Rose 73). The rapper, or MC (master of
ceremonies), expresses themselves through the most basic form of communication, words. He or she
performs their lyrics over instrumentation provided by the DJ. These DJs brought unique sounds by

How Social Science Fields Studied And Interpret The...
The first weeks of the course we have tackled the question of how different social science fields
studied and interpret the history of Africa. When reading Africanizing Anthropology it gave us an
insight of how the field of anthropology was changing the way they conducted studies in order to
maximize the information and better interpret it. Many fields of sciences from anthropology to
political scientist would analyze Africa through western lenses (Schumaker). This meant they saw
Africa as a resource for the west nothing more than that. Thus when reading Africanizing
Anthropology we see how much more information they were able to gather just by changing the way
they would collect the information. We also see helpers and interpreters being Africans which helped
the anthropologist get to villages and towns where they can really gather useful and accurate
information. Nonetheless, we can argue that the African interprets and helpers were not given enough
credit, yet this is the beginning of change within the social sciences.
After analyzing how social scientist gathered and interpreted the continent of Africa we go into the
question of modernity within Africa. Before I go into this discussion it is important to define what
modernity is. This word has many definitions and can be interpret differently depending where you
are. Some may argue that modernity is having a capitalist economy or having a democratic political
structure. Modernity is also closely associated with

Why Do I Want To Be A Senior Year Essay
I am a senior at Mooreville High School who is in a contest to win $25,000. I am also a musician who
plays at talent shows, festivals, and restaurants. I am not employed, which is a major problem because
senior year is very costly, and so is playing gigs. I have been searching for employment all summer,
but I have not had any luck. My parents can afford to pay for my senior year, however, I do not think
the both of them should pay for the costs when I am able to work and can help them out. I am able to
work and can drive a vehicle, but that is the other problem...my car is not very reliable. A more
dependable vehicle could get me to school, work, and my gigs I play. I am a hard worker who will go
to the extreme to get my work done ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

want. The most expensive thing on my list is the 2016 Dodge Charger R/T which is $18,184.65. This
takes an enormous chunk out of the $25,000, but it is a new and dependable car that will help me get
to work, school, and my gigs. Also, I would buy a set of TSW Chicane Gunmetal rims to go on my car
and a set costs $325.28. The next item I would buy would be my graduation cap, gown, diploma, and
diploma cover which is $85.00 even and still leaves me with enough money for my other needs and
wants. As I mentioned above, I am a musician, and us musicians love to expand our instrumental
atmosphere. The next few items I would buy would be an Epiphone Les Paul which would be
$640.93, an Epiphone DR 212 12 string Acoustic Guitar which is $207.24, and finally, I would buy a
Ddrum Reflex drum set in the color white which goes for $567.73. These instruments are more
advanced and would help me expand my musical horizon. The last items would be luxury items for
myself, but I could also use them for my own residence after I move out of my parents house. The first
luxury item I would buy would be an Insignia Smart TV that I could use for watching regular TV and
Netflix when I am not in college or at work and is $160.49. An accessory that would go

Gilgamesh Essay
Topical Essay 1
The story of Gilgamesh depicts all of the heroic triumphs and heart breaking pitfalls a heroic narrative
should depict to be able to relate to today s audience. However, Gilgamesh was once considered a lost
and forgotten piece of literature for thousands of years, so there is a tremendous gap between the time
it was created and the time it was translated into language that today s audience can understand. That
gap in history makes several aspects of the story of Gilgamesh strange and unfamiliar because what
we now know about ancient Middle Eastern cultures and languages is a lot less than what we know
about the cultures that prospered after ancient Middle Eastern cultures. Much of the content in the
story of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the prostitute was depicted as a nurturer and a symbol of pleasure. The prostitute seduced
Enkidu and taught him how to function properly in human society. The prostitute also played a major
role in Enkidu and Gilgamesh becoming friends because she led Enkidu to Uruk, which was the place
Gilgamesh ruled. The way the story of Gilgamesh ended was a bit strange to me as well because
typical heroic narratives end in heroism and triumph. In the story of Gilgamesh Gilgamesh doesn t
reach his goal of attaining eternal life at the end, instead he fails miserably and meets the inevitable
fate of death. I expected him to overcome the tremendous odds that were stacked against him and
victoriously become immortal. Today s audience is used to the hero overcoming what most consider
impossible at the end of a story. Although I found the story of Gilgamesh to be somewhat strange it
contained several familiar elements that are prevalent in many heroic tales from the past and present.
One familiar element was what some people refer to as the under dog factor. Gilgamesh and Enkidu
embarked upon the most grueling and epic journey of their lives just to find the vicious giant named
Humbaba. The way that Humbaba was described in the story made you feel like there is no way
possible he can be defeated. This makes the audience want to side with the lesser opponents because

  • 2. When Should Transgender Identification Begin Research on Transgender Identification in Youth or Adulthood The question at hand is whether or not it is more beneficial for a person with gender dysphoria to be able to express the gender for which they identify with at a young age, or later, in adulthood. In regards to sociology, symbolic interactionism is ideal for examining the way in which sociological theory relates to transgender issues. This is because symbolic interactionism is the study of how people relate to one another and their environment, but specifically how the relations between each other have an effect on their environment. Blumer s conceptualization of symbolic interactionism, known as the situational approach is the one most often used in sex research (Longmore, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hopefully, by gaining insight into these interactions, it will help inform whether or not it is beneficial for a child to be able to express their gender identity at a young age or whether it is more beneficial for them to wait until adulthood. A theory that would give insight into the research question in relation to psychology would be identity theory. Stryker and Burke (2006) have the most relevant ideas on identity theory that would inform the research question. In identity theory, it is used to show how people identify with being a particular type of person; how they take on social roles and belong to social groups (Burke, 2006). Stryker claimed that the greater number of people one is committed to being a certain type of person around the more they identify with being that type of person (Burke, 2006). This poses interesting insight into the research question of whether or not it is beneficial for a child to express their gender identity at a young age and be out with everyone they know, or for an adult to have to slowly bring their identity into existence among people individually and how this may have an effect on the person. • 3. Causes Of Refugee Women In Rohingya Bangladesh is an impoverished country of over 160 million people. In its short history as an independent nation, Bangladesh has faced an Independent war, massive internal displacement, famines and frequent natural disasters. In addition, Bangladesh is hosting over 200,000 Rohingya refugees from Burma in the eastern region(AKM.Ahsan, 2011 p.139). The Rohingya ethnic minority of Burma are trapped between severe repression in their homeland and abuse in neighboring countries. Bangladesh has hosted thousands of Rohingyas fleeing persecution for more than three decades, but at least 200,000 Rohingya refugees have no legal rights there (Samima Kayoko,2014 p.225). They live in squalor, receive very limited aid and are subject to arrest, extortion and detention. Refugee women and girls are particularly vulnerable to sexual and physical attacks. In the registered refugee camp their movement is highly restricted; they have no permission to go outside from the camp. In the camp they live in small shed which is allotted for 7 members (Source). There is no electricity and have not any recreation. They have no work in the camp. So they become very frustrated and it directly affects women through violence. For the purpose, the study aims to shed light on violence against womenin Rohingya camp. It intends to analyze the root causes of violence against refugee women and investigate who is the perpetrator of violence. • 4. Utopia in Gulliver Travels and Paradise Lost Essay The Inconceivable Utopia in Gulliver Travels and Paradise Lost In Jonathon Swift s Gulliver Travels and in John Milton s Paradise Lost, the reader is presented with two lands representing utopias. For Swift this land is an island inhabited by horse like creatures called Houyhnhnms who rule over man like beasts called Yahoos. For Milton, the Garden of Eden before the Fall of man represents Paradise. In it, Adam and Eve are pure and innocent, untested and faithful to God. The American Heritage Dictionary defines utopia as an ideally perfect place, especially in its social, political, and moral aspects. And while Houyhnhnm Land and the Garden of Eden may seem like ideally perfect places, they are not. Indeed, they contradict our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The prospect of utopia, that is, an unchanging static society, has little appeal compared to the prospect of trying to reach such an exalted existence. And it s this idea of progress that we often associate with the idea of utopia. Appealing as it may seem, an utopia is a double edged sword. It is both the end result of our desires and an end to those desires. Because ending our desire goes against our human nature, the notion of utopia can no longer exist to the human mind. Therefore, neither the Garden of Eden nor the island of the Houyhnhnms is an utopia because both societies are unchanging. In them, both progress and desire is forbidden. In Book IV of Gulliver s Travels, Gulliver s ship is mutinied and he is forced into exile to a strange island. On this island he first encounters a rare breed of animal. He describes them, Their heads and breasts were covered with a thick hair, some frizzled and others lank; they had beards like goats, and a long ridge of hair down their backs (2403). These creatures are Yahoos, an inferior species that s very human in nature and in physical form. Next Gulliver meets the Houyhnhmns, rational horses who rule over the human like Yahoos. These two types of creatures symbolize both extremes of human nature, that of reason and emotion. The Yahoos are described as detestable beings driven by passion and emotion while the Houyhnhmns are reveled by Gulliver because of their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Why the Reconstruction Stopped After the Civil War Essay Reconstruction has been brutally murdered! For a little over a decade after the Civil War, the victorious North launched a campaign of social, economic, and political recovery in the former Confederacy and to readmit the land in the former Confederacy back into the United States as states. Reconstruction yielded many benefits for African Americans. The 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments freed African Americans, made them citizens, and gave them the right to vote respectively. The Freedmen s Bureau also provided African Americans and poor whites with education, jobs, and supplies. Despite this, Reconstruction was cut short in 1877. The North killed Reconstruction because of racism, negligence, and distractions. One reason the North killed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Obviously, this was a foolhardy move by the North. The amnesty of Southerners gave racist Southerners another chance to dominate the South with racism and hate. The North also had failed to stop black codes. These laws restricted African Americans rights such as congregating, bearing arms, working for other African Americans, and coming within town limits (Black Codes). Finally, the North was oblivious to the antics of the Ku Klux Klan, a white nationalist hate group. After the murder of John W. Stephens, Albion Tourgee claimed that he had very little doubt that I (sic) shall be one of the next victims (Tourgee, 1870). If Albion Tourgee had so little doubt that he would be a victim of the Ku Klux Klan, then it was probably not safe for Republicans, scalawags, and carpetbaggers in the South during Reconstruction. The North was responsible for providing safety in the South for Republicans, carpetbaggers, scalawags, and African Americans. This would have proved that the North was negligent. Therefore, if the North had not been negligent, the African Americans, scalawags, and carpetbaggers would have been safe during and after Reconstruction even if the South had intentions to harm them. During the course of Reconstruction, the North was distracted and needed to shift their focus from Reconstruction to other affairs. The Panic of 1873 created an atmosphere where people began to oppose Reconstruction (Danzer, 1998). The Grant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Contamination of Drinking-Water by Arsenic in Bangladesh Introduction: There are metal substances which have mixed up with the river water of Bangladesh. The substance is known as Arsenic in Bangladesh. It was first found in the West Bengal ten years ago (1995 96). Arsenic is both toxic and carcinogenic. It is in inorganic forms, dissolved in drinking water which is the most significant forms of natural exposure. Organic forms of arsenic that may be present in food are much less toxic to humans. Clinical manifestations of arsenic poisoning begin with various forms of skin diseases, which lead to damage of internal organs, ultimately to cancer and death. Systems using LS may require secondary treatment to meet that goal. Activated Alumina (AA) is effective in treating water with high total dissolved solids (TDS). However, selenium, fluoride, chloride, and sulfate, if present at high levels, may compete for adsorption sites. AA is highly selective towards As(V); and this strong attraction results in regeneration problems, possibly resulting in 5 to 10 percent loss of adsorptive capacity for each run. Application of point of use treatment devices would need to consider regeneration and replacement. Systems containing high levels of these constituents may require pretreatment. Reverse Osmosis (RO) provided removal efficiencies of greater than 95 percent when operating pressure is at ideal psi. If RO is used by small systems in the western U. S. , 60% water recovery will lead to an increased need for raw water. The water recovery is the volume of water produced by the process divided by the influent stream (product water/influent stream). Discharge of reject water or brine may also be a concern. If RO is used by small systems in the western U. S. , water ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What is the difference between stockholder and stakeholders to a company A company s stakeholders are individuals or groups with an interest, claim, or stake in the company, in what it does, and in how well it performs. They include stockholders, creditors, employee customers, the communities in which the company does business, and the general public. A company s stockholders are usually put in a different class from other stakeholder groups, and for good reason. Stockholders are legal owners and the providers of risk capital, a major source of the capital resources that allow a company to operate its business. The capital that stockholders provide to a company is seen as risk capital because there is no guarantee that stockholders will ever recoup their investment and/or earn a decent return. 2. How ethics in any business responds to stakeholders concerns The ethical issues that strategic managers confront cover many topics, but most are due to a potential conflict between the goals of the enterprise, or the goals of individual managers, and the fundamental rights of important stakeholders, including stockholders, customers, employees, suppliers, competitors, communities, and the general public. Stakeholders have basic rights that should be respected, and it is unethical to violate those rights. Stockholders have the right to timely and accurate information about their investment and it is unethical to violate that right. Customers have the right to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Chemical Reactions And The Chemical Reaction Introduction Chemistry is a branch of science commonly defined as the study of the structure, properties, and reactions of the chemical elements and the compounds they form (The American Heritage Science Dictionary, 2002). This definition is very general and covers a range of study areas, including those that are an asset to society. Chemical reactions are studied by many chemists as they common occurrences in everyday life (Stewart, 2014). Without chemical reactions people would be unable to perform simple tasks that are essential for quality of life and even life itself, such as cooking, lighting a match and breathing (Helmenstine, 2015). A chemical reaction occurs when a chemical change takes place, producing new substances. However, all chemical reactions are different and vary greatly in the time it takes for them to occur (Chem4kids.com, 2015). A Reaction rate is the speed it takes for a chemical reaction to occur. That is, how fast a reactant is used up or a product is formed (BBC, 2014). Rates of reaction are essential in important tasks such are medicine administration and it is therefore crucial for scientists to understand how they work and what affects them (Lofts, 2012). The mechanics of reaction rates is based around the theory of collision, proposed by Max Trautz and William Lewis in the early 1900 s. The theory suggests that reactant particles must collide for a chemical reaction to occur, the more collisions that occur, the faster the reaction rate will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1787, a group of fifty five American delegates, met in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to attend the Constitutional Convention to work out problems with the way the country was run. This involved improving and revising the old Articles of Confederation. Instead of revising the Articles of Confederation to make the government work better, the delegates came up with a plan for a new form of government, the United States Constitution. During the writing and ratifying of the Constitution, there were some fundamental issues being debated. The main debate was about whether to amend the Articles of Confederation or write a new constitution. James Madison, a member of the Virginia Assembly, moved the convention along but proposing a document he had drafted called the Virginia Plan. Delegates feared that the national government would have too much power over the states. William Paterson came up with the New Jersey Plan. The Plan proposed for changes in the Articles of Confederation that would let Congress regulate trade and tax imports, but would maintain state power. The New Jersey Plan proposed a single legislature, a government that relied on the authority of the state governments, more than one executive and one vote of legislation for each state. The plan allowed each state to keep its independence. The plan did not stop the states from violating foreign treaties, or from entering into treaties, or wars. James Madison was against the New Jersey Plan. Madison insisted that the New Jersey Plan did not improve any of the flaws of the Articles of Confederation. The Crucible is about the people of Salem, MA and trouble of the accusations of witchery after Abigail, the niece of Reverend Parris, has an affair with the married John Proctor and he denies her when she attempts to do it again. Specifically, Abigail s reaction to the rejection in the movie is portrayed so much more realistic than it is in the play and the entire cast portraying their characters realistically for how it was appropriate for the setting of the movie. Although the movie was exceptional in content, the universal portrayal of the characters was better in the movie. Overall, The Crucible movie version, directed by Nicholas Hytner, portrayed the characters better the play because Winona Ryder portrayed Abigail Williams better than the written play did, and the cast as a whole worked together to create the mood of the historical time period of both the Salem Witch Trials and the communist era. The extent to which they were significant will be assessed against their respective pre war expectations. On the whole, this is the most significant point that will be discussed because simply, the Eastern Front is where the war was won and it also facilitated the landing of the allied troops in Normandy D Day. Stalin had been longing for the opening of the second front to draw German tanks and infantry away from the Eastern Front. The crucial aerial bombing meant that Germany had to withdraw anti tank guns from the Eastern front and instead, use them to fight the British bombers in the sky. This was evident with the AA Defence System (88mm tank guns) which could no longer inflict damage upon the Red Army and the Soviets. Similarly, the Germans had to divert money and manpower (infantry) to provide a significant enough opposition to discourage the Allies from continuing with their long range offensives. As well as diversion of resources, the priority of the German manufacturers shifted greatly whereby the number of fighters increased on the German front from 1405 to 1650 in 1943 44, but decreased on the Eastern Front from 445 to 425 in 1943 44. The switch of bombers to fighters meant that troops on the front line did not have a protective air force. This, along with the minimalised production of weapons, reduced the war effort served by the Germans on the Eastern Front. They took different approaches in the type of poem they wrote, however. Ode to enchanted light by Pablo Neruda and Sleeping in the Forest by Mary Oliver are two poems that are similar in topic and figurative language but are different in form. Both poems use nature as the main topic and use similes and metaphors as figurative language to compare nature to life. In Ode to enchanted light Neruda tells about the sun shining through the trees and other comparisons with nature. Oliver, in Sleeping in the Forest describes what it s like to spend the night in the forest in similar ways. The script is targeted toward a teenage audience. In fact, there s a very likable teen protagonist that drives the story. The tone is consistently dramatic. The script examines solid themes about faith, destiny, and believing. There are many twists and turns consistent with a thriller. Thriller techniques are also used, such as the sense of being stalked and the threat of harm or death. There also are some well crafted action sequences. The story presents with both strengths and weaknesses. The highlights are Troy and Jacey. What s very intriguing about the presentation is the realization that Troy and others have no idea of the history about religion and have no idea who Jesus Christ was. • 39. Modern Heroine By Kate Chopin Modern Heroine A heroine to me is often an average woman in an unexpected situation, which, despite the odds being piled against her, she usually overcomes in the end. In today s culture, women have overcome many difficulties to be able to work, teach, vote, have a voice in the government, and even are CEOs. Some people believe that some of these achievements are because of examples that come from literature that have led women to believe in, motivate, and stand up for themselves. In literature the amount of the things that a woman protagonist can do has also changed. Back in the 1800s women characters, whether fictional or not, could not be portrayed as rebellious, working, or even sexual beings. Of course there were some authors that did not follow these rules and they were not being published. Others, instead, wrote their works in a way that would be accepted by society rules, however, they were still making strong minded women protagonists. One of these very famous authors is Kate Chopin. In every short story or novel her main character was a female. Not many writers during the mid to late 19th century were bold enough to address subjects that Chopin took on. Some of Chopin s work could not be published until years after her death because of the strong themes that she knew would not be accepted in the world she lived in back then but she just wrote life as she saw it. • 40. Joel Feinberg Psychological Egoism Analysis Psychological egoism is the interpretation that humans are always inspired by self interest, even in what seem to be acts of altruism. It claims that, when people choose to help others, they do so ultimately because of the personal benefits that they themselves expect to obtain, directly or indirectly, from doing so. Psychological egoism, which was widely recognized by psychologists and philosophers states that all human actions are motivated by selfish needs to benefit themselves. According to psychological egoists true altruism does not exist because the consequence of such an act leads to an increase in personal happiness. However, Joel Feinberg does not agree with that theory and in his essay he disagreed with the thesis that altruism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He would have explained to me that even though some philosopher could argue that all of our acts are considered as selfish since the main source of our action is us therefore it does make sense that our only motif is to obtain pleasure for ourselves. As mentioned in the Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy, Psychological egoists cannot establish their view simply by pointing to the pleasure or self benefit that accompanies so many actions. After all, often self benefit only seems to be what we ultimately desire, though a closer look reveals benefits like pleasure are likely just byproducts while the proximate desire is for that which generates them ( Psychological Egoism). Joel Feinberg would explain that the acts that are generated to help others even though we can receive pleasure for acting such way could be and should be considered as an altruistic act. Pleasure can be a byproduct of a good deed but what matters is what generated the good deed and if it s for a good reason and to help others it should be considered as an altruistic ... • 41. Compare And Contrast Plato And The Matrix Plato and The Matrix Compare and Contrast In comparing the movie The Matrix to Plato s The Allegory of the Cave, both have a theme of trying to find the truth. In the Matrix, Neo is confronted with a difficult choice. Either he can choose the blue pill and forget that Morpheus ever confronted him with such news of the Matrix or he can take the red pill and find out the truth, which is that he has been living in a simulated fantasy world. The Allegory of the Cave is similar in that Plato attempts to explain reality. There are some epistemology questions that occur in both situations such as, what is truth, how do we find it, and how reliable are our perceptions? The people that are prisoners in the cave cannot see the world beyond the cave except for glimmers of light reflecting off the wall and therefore believe that the cave is the real world when in fact if they could escape to the outer world they would realize that outside the cave, in the light, is actually the real world. Another example of comparison is Plato s two world belief, a world of being and a world of becoming. The contrasts between the Matrix and the excerpt from Plato are that in the Matrix, the perceived reality that Neo is experiencing is a better description of what the reality outside the Matrix actually is. Outside the Matrix, Neo discovers a very dark, chaotic, and weird place. Whereas, the cave depicted in Plato s story is a scary and dark place and his place of ultimate reality is in the light ... Research that has been conducted so far has attempted to determine the role of biological, psychological and social factors but unfortunately, evidence does not point to any single factor. Literature suggests that the etiology of schizophrenia and related psychoses results from a complex interaction of multiple factors (Broome et al., 2005; Garety et al., 2007). Nuechterlein Dawson (1984) suggest that much of the conducted research on the etiology of schizophrenia is consistent with the vulnerability stress model. The vulnerability stress explains that individuals have different levels of vulnerability to the mental illness schizophrenia. These levels are determined by the interaction between biological, social and psychological factors. The research of Neuchterlein Dawson (1984) proposed that vulnerability results in the development of problems if there was a presence of environmental stressors. This proposal states that if there is great vulnerability, low levels of stress might be sufficient to cause problems. On the other hand, if an individual possess less vulnerability, problems only arise with higher levels of stress. The first weeks of the course we have tackled the question of how different social science fields studied and interpret the history of Africa. When reading Africanizing Anthropology it gave us an insight of how the field of anthropology was changing the way they conducted studies in order to maximize the information and better interpret it. Many fields of sciences from anthropology to political scientist would analyze Africa through western lenses (Schumaker). This meant they saw Africa as a resource for the west nothing more than that. Thus when reading Africanizing Anthropology we see how much more information they were able to gather just by changing the way they would collect the information. We also see helpers and interpreters being Africans which helped the anthropologist get to villages and towns where they can really gather useful and accurate information. Nonetheless, we can argue that the African interprets and helpers were not given enough credit, yet this is the beginning of change within the social sciences. After analyzing how social scientist gathered and interpreted the continent of Africa we go into the question of modernity within Africa.
