Vicarious Liability
Seminar 7
Vicarious Liability
The problem question deals mainly with the issue of Vicarious Liability and Negligence. In order to
advise Jerry one would have to explore the rules of vicarious liability, relevant statute law and case
law which may apply.
Vicarious liability has been defined as the person who commits a wrong must be an employee and not
an independent contractor, the employee must have committed a tort and the tort must have been in
the course of employment.
The doctrine of vicarious liability is a public policy that holds employers liable when a tort is
committed by an employee in the course of their employment. This means that a victim of a tort can

[1969] 2QB173 Cooke J s judgment was that The fundamental test to be applied is this: Is the person
who has engaged himself to perform these services performing them as a person in business on his
own account? This was been determined by using a mix of factors: for example, does the employee
provide his own equipment and does he hires his own helpers? It also looks at what degree of financial
risk he takes and to what degree of responsibility he has. It also takes into account how the employee
is paid and whether the employee can work for another. In this case it was held that Mrs Irving was
employed under a series of contracts of service and therefore was an employee of the company.
Although, Jerry regards Peter as self employed within his organisation, it would be fair to state that
given the control test above, Jerry does have control over Peter by stating that if ever Peter is not
available when he wants him he will never employ him again. Peter is free to work for others but does
not do so. Therefore the case of Yewens v. Noakes (1880) 6 QBD demonstrates the control that

Barnes and Noble Strategic Audit
Strategic Analysis: Barnes Noble Executive Summary Barnes Noble is a key player in the Book Retail
Industry. This mature industry has been experiencing slow growth over the last several years, much
slower than overall retail sales. Barriers to entry into this industry are quite high, and suppliers have
modest influence over booksellers. The introduction of the Internet has brought about many changes
to this industry. It has increased rivalry, buyer power, and substitutes. Spending time surfing the net is
one of many substitutes to reading books nowadays. Other technological advances, such as VCR s and

purchases per U.S. household grew just 0.6 percent from 1996 to 1997. During the same period, the
U.S. population grew approximately 1 percent. This statistic shows that the U.S. book market is
growing slower than the population. #61491; The 1998 Consumer Research Study on Book

growth in book sales continues to slow. This survey found that it was the upper income ( $75,000)

sales. According to the Book Industry Study Group, the study suggests that the book industry appears
to react counter cyclically to the overall economy. In good times, consumers may spend their
disposable income on other forms of entertainment or on more expensive durable goods. This study

Well to begin, instead of a scene from a class episode, I would choose a specific show itself, and that
would be Angels in America for this particular question. First off, after analyzing as well as doing
more researches on this film, the authorial intent of Angels in America is that Tony Kushner, the
author, wants to use the style of epic theater, where there are multiple, overlapping scenes as well as
political theater inspired by Brecht, to create this play. Having a style of political theater in this play of
Angels in America, Kushner wants the audience to view the characters as having personal identity and
sexual orientation responsibility. It is also where the society will judge based off of what they see but

Ancient Maya Religious Practices and Beliefs Essays
Almost every aspect of Maya life was centered on religion. These ancient Mesoamerican peoples
worshipped many gods and goddesses; this was part of their daily lives, despite class differences in
their sophisticated society. Religion served as a basis for the government and social life. Priests and
shamans played an important role in their government, conducted religious ceremonies, and made
sacrifices to the gods. The Maya believed in the supernatural, and used this belief to explain life and
their universe. Every object, whether it is part of nature or man made, was considered sacred and

rivers and could be entered through caves or bodies of water. Despite the various characteristics and
features the Maya believed their ancestors, spirits, and gods resided in all three realms and worshiped
them. Like any religion, the Mayas had religious leaders to lead the community spiritually. Priests and
shamans guided the religious practices of the Maya and were of great importance to the survival of the
civilization because they would help the people please the gods. Shamans were mainly commoners
and looked after those in their local community. Much like medicine men of the Native American
tribes, shamans used their knowledge of plants to act as doctors amongst the people and cure illness. It
was the job of the shamans to perform rituals, decipher events, and tell the future so the people were
able to know the will of the gods. Unlike shamans, priests were of the elite class and took part in much
larger matters. Many elite class sons became priests because they could not all hold a political office.
Priests who were full time specialists in religious matters emerged as Maya society became larger and

Atticus Finch Real Courage
Is the courage you show real if not demonstrated in the pursuit of victory or to defend your pride? In
the eyes of Harper Lee, the author of To Kill a Mockingbird, and her character Atticus Finch, it is. For
them, courage is more than a fight on a battlefield for your country or performing a dangerous feat so
that you can remain in a position of power, continuing to live a life of prosperity and success. Lee and
Atticus see it as the possession of the strength needed to maintain your morals even when they are
challenged by neighbours, friends, and your own family. Through Atticus s defence of Tom Robinson

Atticus views her struggles with her morphine addiction as admirable enough, but Atticus and Lee
made a point of showing that Mrs. Dubose wanted to die as free as the mountain air (148), unlimited
by the medications in her blood. As Mrs. Dubose embarks on her dramatic fight to have her body back
under her control, Atticus recognises two things about the intense older woman, both regarding the
bravery it took to attempt what she did. Firstly, he becomes aware that Mrs. Dubose is sick and was
already doomed to meet her death in the near future. In spite of this, she decides that she had had
enough of her addiction and wants to become just herself again, not just an ill woman who relies on a
substance to numb the pain she is feeling. Secondly, Atticus realizes that Mrs. Dubose is not only
fighting the withdrawal of the drug itself, but also against her own body s pain that the morphine was
meant to numb. She takes the medication to escape the hurt of living, yet wants nothing more than to
bring herself back to a world where she is in control of her own fate and fortune. Lee s writing Mrs.
Dubose into the story presents courage as facing the demons you know will eventually cause your
downfall, all while holding your head high. To Atticus, Mrs. Dubose s actions and choices define her
as a brave and honourable person, even if she never agrees with his views. After her death, Atticus
continues to have respect for her and the personal

Bel Canto Opera Essay
Opera in the Romantic Period was a time when opera changed drastically, especially in the country of
Italy. The recognition of singers as being important, almost irreplaceable, in the art of bel canto opera
changed the idea of a vocalist in opera forever. A singer s voice was prized and Italian composers, like
Rossini, Donizetti, and Bellini wrote operas and works to showcase the voice, it s color, range and
agility. These Italian composers were moving away from the normal style of composition of the time,
and the composer Rossini, who set the stage for many other followers. Many of the operas written
during this time are still performed today and are highly acclaimed. For the most part, before Italy

Canto was a form of singing that was pretty much defined by three Italian composers: Rossini,
Donizetti, and Bellini. These three composers had huge success in Italy and their operas are still being
performed to this day. These captivating operas like Il barbiere di Sivilglia, Lucia di lammermoor, and
Norma are three of the most popular and challenging operas that singers can be involved in. These
three composers really set the stage for the rise of Italian opera. Rossini is probably the most popular
composer of this era. His works are many and are extremely popular. Rossini was born in Pesaro in

Earthquakes, They Destroy, Kill, And Demolish
Earthquakes, they destroy, kill, and demolish. Earthquakes have been recorded for a long time.
Records have been and always will continue to be recorded for centuries. Earthquakes are recorded by
instruments called seismographs. The recording that they make is called a seismogram. These drum
sized tubes of decades of earthquakes are more than likely stored in science labs. Earthquakes
however, are the releasing of stored energy from plate tectonics. Plate tectonics is the study of 7
massive pieces of rock called continents. They build up energy from pressurized rock that is pushed
against each other. When it releases it is like ripples in the water but those ripples are about 10 times
the size, plus the waves can go through the earth and hit outer parts of the earth on the other side. Yet,
because of different types of materials, the waves will never pass straight through the earth. The thing
that powers plate tectonics is convection currents.
The crust (the farthest and the outer est layer of the earth and the one we know and love because it is
helping us not to die) and the upper part of the mantle (that is a loll squid of different density and
different types of metals) make up the lithosphere. It also holds up the plate boundarys where Pangaea
split into 7 massive pieces of rock. The three different types of plate boundaries are convergent

though it could have cost her her job. I admire Meredith s bravery because amidst a shooting at the
hospital, she took care of her hurt friends and, even watched her husband, Derek, get shot. Another
time, there was a fire nearby the ocean, and Meredith dove into the freezing water to save a little girl,
almost dying in the process. Meredith s strength is remarkable after all the terrible things that have
happened in her life , like her mother dying, the hospital shooting, a plane crash that took her sister s
life, the death of her friend George, and her husband s shocking car crash that resulted in his death.
She carries on while raising two children and saving people s lives everyday. What I really admire
about her is that you can see her struggle and the way she deals with the pain. Thats what makes her
such a realistic character because she isn t some super hero. The

Bhutanese People Should Go Back To Bhutan
Many old Nepalese, Bhutanese people wish to go back to Bhutan.
Why do these people wish to go back to their motherland, Bhutan? By the end of 1990, people who
lived in the southern part of Bhutan were forced to leave their land. They started to move in Nepal and
lived in there for almost 19 years as refugees in refugee camp. Bhutanese had dream to go back to
their own country, but their dream remained unfulfilled. The Bhutanese government prevented
Nepalese, Bhutanese people from entering in Bhutan. Their journey of third country resettlement
begins when Nepalese government also refused to give citizenship of Nepal as they claimed they are
poor country. Many Bhutanese people lose their hopes of returning back to Bhutan and decided to
immigrate to the United States with the help of International Organization and Immigration agency in
Nepal. Culture, religion, and land were the most important reasons for them, but the Bhutanese
government did not let them in.
Bhutanese people wish to return to Bhutan because they want to practice their own culture. Many old
Bhutanese people follow their culture strictly under any circumstances. For example, old Bhutanese
people have not forgotten to follow their culture eventhough it has been more than decade of living in
a foreign land like in the United States. After being settled in the United States, Bhutanese people had
to adopt American culture in order to survive in American society but it is still hard for them to accept

Hallucinogenic Drug Addiction
Human life is mostly a collection of sensations and perceptions, the byproduct of our interactions with
our environment as we do the things necessary for survival. Much of our success in life seems to
depend on accurately perceiving the dangers and opportunities we are presented with. In the modern
age of information processing, we are more dependent than ever on the perceptive capacity of our
brains. By using hallucinogenic drugs, a person intentionally alters their brain s ability to accurately
perceive the stimuli it receives, producing an altered state of consciousness in which they have
experiences with little or no basis in reality. There are many documented risks and side effects
associated with the abuse of these drugs. (National Institute ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

With the increasing costs, both financial and ecological,...
With the increasing costs, both financial and ecological, of fossil fuels, fuel efficiency in vehicles has
become an increasingly important factor. Vehicle manufacturers and designers are exploring
alternative fuels, with electric, hybrid and hydrogen powered vehicles being looked at as viable
alternatives. Solar power has been somewhat overlooked but has the ability to become widely used
because it is both clean and economical. The advantages over fossil fuels are obvious: Solar power is
renewable, cannot be exhausted and doesn t cause pollution. Fossil fuels are becoming increasingly
scarce and expensive. Solar seems like a logical alternative. As such, it is being considered by private
companies and government think tanks as a partial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Battery packs are still heavy, bulky and expensive but the costs of solar power are coming down while
the cost of gasoline keeps going up. A number of different vehicles from sports cars to vans to golf
carts have had solar panels added to flat surfaces, primarily their roofs. Some of the vehicles are
ordinary cars which have been modified for solar; others are highly futuristic. The picture below is a
good example of a futuristic design. The vehicle, called car on a stick was designed to be used as a
streetlight when not being driven, which accounts for the one sitting at a higher elevation in the
picture, as opposed to the one on the ground. It would also save on parking. Of course, this design is
only an idea at this point, but it gives some interesting possibilities for vehicles (and cities) of the
future. Source: http://www.designboom.com/contemporary/solarpoweredvehicles.html Albuainain
Page 2 of 5 So far, the size, weight and efficiency of PV panels, and the need for a storage battery,
which is large and heavy, has limited the range of most such vehicles to 30 50 miles between charges
(designboom). In order for PVCs to become more practical, engineers will have to increase their
efficiency. Current cells have an average efficiency of about 20% (Perch 2013). Ideally, the efficiency
would need to be at least 30% to be sufficient to provide enough energy to keep the car running for a

Themes In Snowpiercer
Bong Joon ho s 2013 science fiction film, Snowpiercer, based in a graphic novel of the same name,
offers a look into a frozen future where the last of mankind lives on an evermoving locomotive. It s a
contemporary film focused around the theme of classism in society, driven by metaphors for where we
are and where we are going. With an almost mashup of Orwell meeting the 99%, the story focuses on
the inhabitants of the suppressed population of the train s tail section, led by Chris Evans Curtis,
revolting against the forward living. The film s narrative in relation to its theme is the focal point of
the film and it s main driving force. By using a linear narrative, Joon ho allows the story to move
forward as the characters move towards the front of train. With each decision Curtis makes, the
blocking of his movements is always in a forward motion. He is always looking forward because he
has a definite purpose and only second guesses in a scene (the only scene) where he looks forward and
backward toward two separate outcomes of one decision as the camera follows his head movement in

I hadn t seen Chris Evans outside of his Marvel ventures and was impressed by his ability to make his
heavily flawed character seem charismatic. It s easy to see why the tail sectioners choose to follow
him; he is the the one they deem smart and driven enough to lead them to their journey s end. I can t
tell if it s the way he meant the character to be portrayed and that s just Evan s natural charismatic
nature showing through but it adds a layer to the character that makes his decisions and emotions seem
more concrete. The rest of the cast does a great job of carrying out action beats in relation to the
workings of the class and machinery present in the film s screenplay. I do feel that some other
characters expositions are not layered enough to evoke any emotion and that does take away from the

Melting Pot In America
California has continued to be a state for newcomers to come and establish themselves in America. To
be a foundation and a way of life, I would call California the melting pot of our melting pot in
America. In reviewing California s history, one can see that California has made great strides towards
trying to give the citizens the freedom to sole their own issues. One of these solution brought together
by the people of that time was the San Francisco Union Labor Party. In the 1900 s, San Francisco
organized what is known today as a labor movement, which was established through the development
of the Metropolis of the West. It was clear that California, especially San Francisco, did not
experience this slow and steady, but a fast growth towards becoming a metropolitan area; especially
during the Gold Rush, many people were came to California in search for gold and new land. Some of
those sellers who were lucky enough to have found gold even settled in San Francisco to invest in the
open real estate, manufacturing and general trade. The newfound gold, which led new rich settlers to
San Francisco, created an abundance of people; and, once there an abundance of people, crime
becomes a large possibility. With a growing city, is crucial that the city establish foundations within
the city to keep public harmony, especially public safety. As specialists on San Francisco s waterfront,
and in her production lines and shops, the best way to win a superior life was to sort out and

Depression and Its Causes
The purpose of this essay is to give a critical overview of the current treatment approaches offered to
individuals experiencing a mental health problem. The mental health problem that will be discussed
throughout the essay is depression. The chosen treatment that will be examined is, antidepressant
treatment, by taking in to account the issues associated with this particular treatment.
Additionally, the essay will deliver an understanding of mental health and illness by focusing on the
underlying perspectives (biomedical). According to Reynolds et al. (2009, p. 8) compared with other
areas of health practice, the mental health field is particularly subjected to heated debate . Therefore,
the essay will attempt to look at the contemporary issues within mental health care by drawing on
relevant research.
There are various theories and understandings given to the term mental health . A previous
understanding given by the Health Education Authority (1997, in Tilford and Cattan, 2006 p. 17)
defined mental health as the emotional and spiritual pliability which allows us to enjoy life and to
survive pain, disappointment and sadness. It is a positive sense of well being and an underlying belief
in our own, and others , dignity and worth . However more recently, mental health has been defined by
the World Health Organisation (2011) as a state of well being in which every individual realises his or
her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work

Research And Analysis Of Secondary School Students
RESEARCH FINDINS AND ANALYSIS
4.1 INTRODUCTION
This chapter shows the results from both quantitative and qualitative research methods. This research
is implemented by completing questionnaires by secondary school teachers and students. The
questionnaires were completed by 200 teachers and 144 students. Also, four secondary school teachers
(from private and public secondary schools) participated in the qualitative research method (semi
structured interview). The interviews were via telephone.
The purpose of this chapter is to present the data collected from both research methods, give analyses
the data and discuss the result.
4.2 THE FINDINGS AND DATAANALYSIS FROM INTERVIEWS
The interviews involved four teachers, two from private secondary schools while the other two were
of public schools. Two teachers taught ICT in their respective schools, one taught chemistry and the
last taught mathematics respectively. The interview took place from 3rd to 11th November 2014. The
details of the interview can be seen in Appendix B, C, D, E.
From the interview, everyone that participated seems to have confidence with the use of ICTs
infrastructure. According to every participant, they own a personal computer (PC) and have access to
internet at home either via the use of the mobile data or access to a network modem. All the teachers
said that they surf the internet at least an hour per day and at least four days a week to search for
information such as articles and e journals; watch or

River Tees Drainage Baisin Essay
River Tees Drainage Baisin
The river Tees flows from the Pennines in Cumbria, northwest England, to the North Sea via Tees
Bay. Its length is 130 km / 80 miles. Its port, Teesport, handles in excess of 42 million tonnes of water
per year. Its main tributaries are the Lune, Balder, and Greta. There are many factors affecting the
drainage baiins of the River Tees, many of these are human factors.
Water Barrage and Watersports: Much of the water nearing the sea is polluted with industrial waste,
sewage, and chemicals. The Tees Barrage, which opened in 1995, enables a 16 km / 10 mile stretch of
the river to provide clean, non tidal water. The barrage was built to improve the river s watersports ...

There are several reservoirs in the river basin used to store water to be used for later use. The
reservoirs also helps in flood control. Water levels can rise very quickly following a rain storm.
Storing water in the reservoir reduces flooding in the lower course.
Farming and Irigation Water: A major land uses in the upper Tees is rough grazing for sheep. The land
is too steep to use machinery, the growing season too short and the soils too thin and acidic For
growing crops and so not much water is needed for irigation in comparison to the River Severn. Only
where the land is less steep is the pasture improved by fertilizers, the occasional crop is grown,
requiring some irigation water from the Tees.
Hydro Electric power: There are no power plants along the Tees.
There are also many natural factors affecting the hydrology of the River Tees drainage basin, these
include:
Geology: There is a succession of falls, where the river traverses a hard series of black basaltic rocks,
the water flows fast her due to the steep down slope, the impermiable smooth rocks also allow fast
flow and no infiltration, and so at times of heavy percipitation the water level at these points in the
river will rise sharply and the power and speed of the river will increase. At flatter areas of these
basaltic rocks the river can flood easily.

to remain in isolation from the foreign sectors of the world. Once industrialized and more robust, it

example when Americans conspired and overthrew the Hawaiian queen Liliuokalani. Americans were
use to getting what they wanted. They had influences over king Kalakaua of Hawaii at the time into
releasing land which no native Hawaiian had the right to own. A few dozen American and European

Louis Armstrong Concert Analysis
Watching Louis Armstrong s live performance in Berlin during the year 1965 was a pleasure,
especially because I am a great fan of his music. Throughout the concert in Berlin, Armstrong and his
chamber orchestra played 13 different pieces. With the exception of Jewel Woods entrance on vocals
for two songs, the makeup of the chamber orchestra did not change throughout the concert. As a
result, the cello, clarinet, drums, piano, trombone, and trumpet remained vital parts of each song
throughout the concert.
Armstrong and his All Stars quickly began their first song, Sleepy Time Down South, before formally
introducing themselves. This song allowed the audience to prepare for the concert as the tempo was
consistently adagio. The song also gave each instrument in the chamber orchestra the opportunity to
each warm up with a song that was completely dolce and legato in fashion.
Next, the chamber orchestra quickly transitioned to a vivace song that was performed con fuoco and
was named Indiana. In this song, every instrument was given an uptempo solo to showcase the
performer s immense talent. The dynamic throughout was forte in fashion and did not vary from
beginning to end.
After Indiana was performed, the chamber orchestra transitioned to a more dolce and pesante Black
and Blue. Throughout this song, each performer played softly, keeping the dynamic at a piano level
until Armstrong s trumpet began to raise the dynamic to a more mezzo piano level. The song s

Free Community College Should Be Free
Free is a word with a powerful appeal. And right now it s being tossed around a lot, followed by
another word: college. (Kamenetz). The debate surrounding free community college for all is
becoming rather controversial. Since there has been no law set in place federally some states are
taking aim. Washington has a scholarship program called Washington Promise that supports what this
act is all for. As the world continues to flatten, it seems the only way to compete in the globalized
economy is by higher education. Even though the funding is large, the first two years of community
college should be free to all. The Washington Promise, a scholarship program in place to provide
scholarships to high school seniors who graduate from a Washington high school, is a way to help
students in the Yakima Valley attend college and graduate with an A.A degree which helps stress the
importance of liberal arts, and help decrease what Thomas Freidman, the author of The World is Flat,
calls the education gap at the bottom.
Although I believe the first two years of community college should be free to all; many people would
disagree. One of the biggest controversies surrounding the issue of free community college is the
enormous cost it comes with and how it will be funded. According to Emily Deruy, the author of the
article The Debate over Free Community College, The chances of community colleges nationwide
becoming free are slim. The White House has said it would cost the federal

Conformity And Obedience To Authority In Cool Hand Luke
Social influence plays a big part in how a person acts in a situation. A person s behaviour that has been
influenced can be shown in 2 ways: Conformity, which is when a person changes their attitudes and
behaviours to fit in, and obedience to authority, which is when a person obeys orders from someone
who has a higher status than them. This essay will look at and analyze examples of conformity, non
conformity, and obedience to authority in the movie Cool Hand Luke. Cool Hand Luke It looks at the

informal but polite way that it was an accident. Boss Paul then goes up to the prisoner, hits him, and

authority involves the ditch outside of the prisoners resting house. After running away for a second

The Medicine Bag Short Story Analysis
Many people have grandparents. Some passed and some alive, but for most, at least once in their
lifetime their grandparents or parents have embarrassed them in public. They might say exceptionally
loud that you have a cute girl on your phone or they just have a funny appearance in the society they
are in. In Virginia Sneve s short story, The Medicine Bag, the main protagonist Martin has a Sioux
Native American Grandpa who comes from a culture that is a lot different than the modern world.
Martin s Grandpa wears different clothes, looks different, acts different from the community, and
overall just stands out. Given these circumstances, Martin is embarrassed for his Grandpa and himself.
As the story continues on the most dynamic character in this short story would still have to be Martin.
The reason why Martin is not only the main protagonist, but is also the most dynamic, is because
throughout the story he pushed the truth about his culture from his life, was embarrassed by his
Grandfather s presentation, and didn t know the history of an important symbol of his heritage. Once
he finally experiences an important scene with his Grandpa and has the talk about the past, Martin
changes into a person that respects his culture, isn t embarrassed by his Grandpa, and also learns more
about the symbol of his heritage that put Martin on a path to manhood.
One of the Aspects that changes about Martin throughout the story to make him the most dynamic
character is his respect towards

Viability Of Recycling Aluminum Lab Report
The Viability of Recycling Aluminum
Seth Smith*, David Fahey, Experiment 4, CHEM 111 520
Introduction
In this experiment, metathesis, redox, single displacement, and decomposition reactions were
observed and recorded to follow the path of recycled aluminum. The percent yield of the aluminum
was also calculated to compare the actual yield with the theoretical yield. The entire concept of
aluminum recycling was also observed and successfully reproduced.
Materials and Methods
The experiment began with the measurement of 0.9300 g of aluminum pieces. The aluminum pieces
were then placed inside a 250 mL beaker along with 50 mL of 1.4 M KOH solution and a stirring bar.

This is characteristic of a redox reaction. The fumes that were a product of the reaction were sucked
away by the vacuum apparatus. Ten minutes into heating and stirring, the color of the mixture changed
from a cloudy grey, to a very dark grey color, and finally to a black, murky color. When the mixture
was filtered through the aspirator, the filtered content was much lighter in color and clearer in
appearance due to the dark residue being filtered out. Next, the 20 mL of 6.0M sulfuric acid was
added to the filtered solution and a chemical reaction occurred.
2 KAl(OH)₄ (aq)+H₂SO₄ (aq)→ 2 Al(OH)₃ (s)+K₂SO₄ + 2 H₂O (l)
The metathesis reaction that occurred was partially neutralized by sulfuric acid. The solution was
filtered after the reaction and heated to prevent solids from forming. After heating and filtering the
product, another metathesis reaction occurred:
2 AL(OH)₃ (s) + 3 H₂SO₄ (aq) → Al₂(SO₄)₃ (aq) + 6 H₂O (l)
In this third reaction, the aluminum hydroxide was neutralized by the sulfuric acid. The solution was
submerged in an ice bath which caused the alum crystals to precipitate. The following chemical
equation represents the changes that occurred when the solution was submerged in the ice

How Does Ebola Affect The Human Body

originates from infected fruit bats. But, they believe that the Ebola virus moves in populations with

Ebola has been located in many different African countries. Since 1976 there have been around 21
outbreaks of Ebola virus reported. However, in the 2014 outbreak, there was known to be more cases
and more deaths of Ebola than all of the historical outbreaks combined together five times more. Your
chances of getting Ebola are very slim. However, if you are or if you have been in a place where there
has been a recent outbreak of Ebola disease your chances are at a higher risk. Scientist believe that the
first person that received Ebola was a two year old in southern Guinea. Since 1976 to 2016 there have

fluid and blood loss that can cause hypotensive shock which causes death in most of the Ebola

providing a wide range of strong, famous women in history to defend her argument of a strong,

This was been determined by using a mix of factors: for example, does the employee provide his own equipment and does he hires his own helpers? To be a foundation and a way of life, I would call California the melting pot of our melting pot in America. In reviewing California s history, one can see that California has made great strides towards trying to give the citizens the freedom to sole their own issues. One of these solution brought together by the people of that time was the San Francisco Union Labor Party. In the 1900 s, San Francisco organized what is known today as a labor movement, which was established through the development of the Metropolis of the West. It was clear that California, especially San Francisco, did not experience this slow and steady, but a fast growth towards becoming a metropolitan area; especially during the Gold Rush, many people were came to California in search for gold and new land. Some of those sellers who were lucky enough to have found gold even settled in San Francisco to invest in the open real estate, manufacturing and general trade. The newfound gold, which led new rich settlers to San Francisco, created an abundance of people; and, once there an abundance of people, crime becomes a large possibility. With a growing city, is crucial that the city establish foundations within the city to keep public harmony, especially public safety. • 26. Depression and Its Causes The purpose of this essay is to give a critical overview of the current treatment approaches offered to individuals experiencing a mental health problem. The mental health problem that will be discussed throughout the essay is depression. The chosen treatment that will be examined is, antidepressant treatment, by taking in to account the issues associated with this particular treatment. Additionally, the essay will deliver an understanding of mental health and illness by focusing on the underlying perspectives (biomedical). According to Reynolds et al. (2009, p. 8) compared with other areas of health practice, the mental health field is particularly subjected to heated debate . Therefore, the essay will attempt to look at the contemporary issues within mental health care by drawing on relevant research. There are various theories and understandings given to the term mental health . A previous understanding given by the Health Education Authority (1997, in Tilford and Cattan, 2006 p. 17) defined mental health as the emotional and spiritual pliability which allows us to enjoy life and to survive pain, disappointment and sadness. It is a positive sense of well being and an underlying belief in our own, and others , dignity and worth . However more recently, mental health has been defined by the World Health Organisation (2011) as a state of well being in which every individual realises his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work ... Its length is 130 km / 80 miles. Its port, Teesport, handles in excess of 42 million tonnes of water per year. Its main tributaries are the Lune, Balder, and Greta. There are many factors affecting the drainage baiins of the River Tees, many of these are human factors. Water Barrage and Watersports: Much of the water nearing the sea is polluted with industrial waste, sewage, and chemicals. Water levels can rise very quickly following a rain storm. Storing water in the reservoir reduces flooding in the lower course. The land is too steep to use machinery, the growing season too short and the soils too thin and acidic For growing crops and so not much water is needed for irigation in comparison to the River Severn. Only where the land is less steep is the pasture improved by fertilizers, the occasional crop is grown, requiring some irigation water from the Tees. Hydro Electric power: There are no power plants along the Tees. There are also many natural factors affecting the hydrology of the River Tees drainage basin, these include: Geology: There is a succession of falls, where the river traverses a hard series of black basaltic rocks, the water flows fast her due to the steep down slope, the impermiable smooth rocks also allow fast flow and no infiltration, and so at times of heavy percipitation the water level at these points in the river will rise sharply and the power and speed of the river will increase. At flatter areas of these basaltic rocks the river can flood easily. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. Louis Armstrong Concert Analysis Watching Louis Armstrong s live performance in Berlin during the year 1965 was a pleasure, especially because I am a great fan of his music. Throughout the concert in Berlin, Armstrong and his chamber orchestra played 13 different pieces. With the exception of Jewel Woods entrance on vocals for two songs, the makeup of the chamber orchestra did not change throughout the concert. As a result, the cello, clarinet, drums, piano, trombone, and trumpet remained vital parts of each song throughout the concert. Armstrong and his All Stars quickly began their first song, Sleepy Time Down South, before formally introducing themselves. This song allowed the audience to prepare for the concert as the tempo was consistently adagio. The song also gave each instrument in the chamber orchestra the opportunity to each warm up with a song that was completely dolce and legato in fashion. Next, the chamber orchestra quickly transitioned to a vivace song that was performed con fuoco and was named Indiana. In this song, every instrument was given an uptempo solo to showcase the performer s immense talent. The dynamic throughout was forte in fashion and did not vary from beginning to end. After Indiana was performed, the chamber orchestra transitioned to a more dolce and pesante Black and Blue. Throughout this song, each performer played softly, keeping the dynamic at a piano level until Armstrong s trumpet began to raise the dynamic to a more mezzo piano level. The song s ... • 32. Free Community College Should Be Free Free is a word with a powerful appeal. And right now it s being tossed around a lot, followed by another word: college. (Kamenetz). The debate surrounding free community college for all is becoming rather controversial. Since there has been no law set in place federally some states are taking aim. Washington has a scholarship program called Washington Promise that supports what this act is all for. As the world continues to flatten, it seems the only way to compete in the globalized economy is by higher education. Even though the funding is large, the first two years of community college should be free to all. The Washington Promise, a scholarship program in place to provide scholarships to high school seniors who graduate from a Washington high school, is a way to help students in the Yakima Valley attend college and graduate with an A.A degree which helps stress the importance of liberal arts, and help decrease what Thomas Freidman, the author of The World is Flat, calls the education gap at the bottom. Although I believe the first two years of community college should be free to all; many people would disagree. One of the biggest controversies surrounding the issue of free community college is the enormous cost it comes with and how it will be funded. According to Emily Deruy, the author of the article The Debate over Free Community College, The chances of community colleges nationwide becoming free are slim. The other prisoners see that if they don t address the authorities as Captain or Boss, negative consequences will follow. To avoid these negative consequences, the acknowledge Captain and the Bosses as authority and obey their demands. Another example of obedience to authority involves the ditch outside of the prisoners resting house. After running away for a second time, the Bosses start to treat Luke like a slave. Some passed and some alive, but for most, at least once in their lifetime their grandparents or parents have embarrassed them in public. They might say exceptionally loud that you have a cute girl on your phone or they just have a funny appearance in the society they are in. In Virginia Sneve s short story, The Medicine Bag, the main protagonist Martin has a Sioux Native American Grandpa who comes from a culture that is a lot different than the modern world. Martin s Grandpa wears different clothes, looks different, acts different from the community, and overall just stands out. Given these circumstances, Martin is embarrassed for his Grandpa and himself. As the story continues on the most dynamic character in this short story would still have to be Martin. The reason why Martin is not only the main protagonist, but is also the most dynamic, is because throughout the story he pushed the truth about his culture from his life, was embarrassed by his Grandfather s presentation, and didn t know the history of an important symbol of his heritage. Once he finally experiences an important scene with his Grandpa and has the talk about the past, Martin changes into a person that respects his culture, isn t embarrassed by his Grandpa, and also learns more about the symbol of his heritage that put Martin on a path to manhood. The percent yield of the aluminum was also calculated to compare the actual yield with the theoretical yield. The entire concept of aluminum recycling was also observed and successfully reproduced. Materials and Methods The experiment began with the measurement of 0.9300 g of aluminum pieces. Ten minutes into heating and stirring, the color of the mixture changed from a cloudy grey, to a very dark grey color, and finally to a black, murky color. When the mixture was filtered through the aspirator, the filtered content was much lighter in color and clearer in appearance due to the dark residue being filtered out. Next, the 20 mL of 6.0M sulfuric acid was added to the filtered solution and a chemical reaction occurred. 2 KAl(OH)₄ (aq)+H₂SO₄ (aq)→ 2 Al(OH)₃ (s)+K₂SO₄ + 2 H₂O (l) The metathesis reaction that occurred was partially neutralized by sulfuric acid. The solution was filtered after the reaction and heated to prevent solids from forming. After heating and filtering the product, another metathesis reaction occurred: 2 AL(OH)₃ (s) + 3 H₂SO₄ (aq) → Al₂(SO₄)₃ (aq) + 6 H₂O (l) In this third reaction, the aluminum hydroxide was neutralized by the sulfuric acid. The cause of the Ebola virus results in damaged vascular cells that are formed from the blood vessels, damage to the liver, large amounts of viruses in the blood etc. Ebola causes uncontrollable bleeding and, that eventually leads to fluid and blood loss that can cause hypotensive shock which causes death in most of the Ebola infected victims.
