Parallelism In Patrick Henry s Speech To The Virginia...
The prominent patriot Patrick Henry once said, I know not what course others may take; but as for me,
give me liberty or give me death! (Henry 7) implying that a life without liberty is not a righteous life.
Henry s quote is included in his popular oratory, Speech to the Virginia Convention , in which he
discusses with the colonists who were under the tyrannical reign of the Crown. Throughout his speech,
Henry lists all of the discrepancies the thirteen colonies had with Great Britain, concluding that there
is no other option, but to retaliate instantaneous. In Patrick Henry s Speech to the Virginia Convention,
he utilizes amplifying loaded words and coherent parallelism in order to influence the assembly to
unify and reciprocate.
Throughout the entirety of his speech, Henry presents amplifying loaded words to bring to attention
the predicament between the two opposing sides. Loaded words are terms of influence by employing
positive or negative connotations. For example, Henry claims in paragraph five, We have petitioned;
we have remonstrated; we have supplicated... (Henry 5). He particularly targets the verb of the
sentences by altering their meaning, to add a kick to the phrase. Rather than state, We have asked; we
have protested, we have begged, Henry offers more potent terms, such as petitioned, remonstrated and
supplicated, to emphasize how perilous the situation between the two countries is, compelling them to
take action. He continues to underline

Acetabular Labbulu Research Papers
The hip is a very versatile joint that allows a high degree of movement, although not quite as great as
the shoulder. Being a ball and socket joint, it allows flexion, extension, adduction, abduction and other
ranges of motion to occur. It is the second largest weight bearing joint in the body, only the knee can
bear more weight. It involves a complex system of bones, ligaments, and nerves to cause the
movements needed to get the body in motion. Although the hip is such an important joint many things
can go wrong if not taken care of properly, especially when it comes to the bones of the joint. The two
bones that make up the hip joint are the pelvis, also known as the hip bone, and the femur. The pelvis
is the socket portion of what we call ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These muscles help the joint stay stable and are the power behind the movements associated with the
joint. The muscles can be grouped into four groups (!). You have the anterior, posterior, adductor, and
abductor groups. The muscles in the anterior group are the psoas major, iliacus, rectus femoris, vastus
intermedius, vastus larteralis, and vastus medialis. These muscles help to lift the leg, sit up, or kick a
ball (!). Next is the posterior group which assist in things like standing, walking, and running. Biceps
femoris, semimembranosus, and semitendinosus are the three muscles of the posterior group. The
adductor group is the muscle inside of the leg that help move the leg toward the body. These muscles
are the adductor longus, adductor brevis, adductor magnus, pectineus, and gracilis. Lastly you have
the abductor group which move the leg away from the body as in a split. These are the piriformis,

Examples Of Perseverance In A Long Way Gone
There may be as many as 300,000 child soldiers, hopped up on drugs and wielding AK 47s, in more
than fifty conflicts around the world. Ishmael Beah used to be one of these child soldiers , Ishmael
Beah is a child who lived most of his childhood in the war . He is one of the first to tell his story in his
own words according to http://www.alongwaygone.com/index.html and his memoir A Long Way
Gone . The war had made ishmael have perseverance in the long run , inference that he was
brainwashed by the war and that ishmael was a very hopeful child always wishing for better days.
Ishmael showed perseverance during his time in the war when in his memoir A Long Way Gone it
stated on page 179 Leslie had told me that I was to be repatriated and reinstated into normal society. I
was to live with my uncle. Those two weeks felt longer than the eight months I had spent at the Benin
Home showing that he had only spent eight months getting over everything he went through in the war
in two years , therefore it showed how much he could overcome in such little time and how he went
through very difficult things in a matter time and still had perseverance through it all. Another
example of how he had perseverance was stated in the book on page 88 We were leaving our friend, or
as my grandmother would put it, His temporary journey in the world had ended. We on the other hand
had to continue. Showing how hard it was for Ishmael to have to keep going on but still continued

The Great Terror Robert Conquest Summary
With Robert Conquest s first edition of The Great Terror published in 1968, critics acclaimed that his
work was a spotlight on the atrocities wrought by the Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin. Since then, with
new sources and statistics coming forward, there have been two reassessments published by Conquest.
Regardless of edition, the author attempts to provide the reader a gripping account of Stalin s mass
purges where millions were murdered and millions more were sent to Soviet prisons in brutal,
inhumane conditions. Furthermore, to give the reader a well rounded view of this period Conquest
writes about more than just the gulags. He shares his research on the Moscow Trials, the vicious
methods for obtaining false confessions, life in the labor camps, and much more. These topics all
provide for a bleak picture of life in the former Soviet Union during the reign of the dictator Stalin. ...

As with any other use of first hand accounts, the reader is presented with a more potent form of
storytelling that is easily diluted when the author describes the action for the audience in their own
words. For example, Conquest quotes Polish politician Zbigniew Stypulkowski to describe the
appalling conditions in the Soviet prisons where with cold and hunger and almost no sleep, a man
becomes like an automaton his eyes are bright, his legs swollen, his hands trembling. In this state he is
often convinced he is guilty (pg. 125). By using such striking quotes, Conquest accomplishes two
things. First, using eyewitness accounts better retains the reader s attention by placing them directly in
the action with those who lived it. Second, these testimonies give more credibility to the author s work
by showing that the author s interpretations and the real life events support each

A Polytheistic Religion
Being a polytheistic religion, Hindus worship multiple Gods. Although a lot of the different gods are
said to be different avatars of the trimurti, in a sense, each God represents an ideal quality or role one
must follow to in order to follow their Dharma. As shown in a lot of the readings each God has a
different quality and these qualities in a sense serve as model behaviors a true believer must follow in
order to follow the path of Dharma. For example, Goddess Durga, is considered to be a very good role
model of Feminist movements in India. It is said that she represents the the violent and destructive
qualities of the Mother Goddess (Shakti). She is known to protect mankind from the evil by destroying
evil forces such as selfishness, anger,

History In 1822, when Brazil won its independence, Poland did not exist on maps of the political
world. In the years 1795 1918 the Polish lands were occupied countries by neighboring countries
Russia, Austria and Prussia. The struggle for independence, taken by another generation of Poles,

performance in Paris, issued in favor of participants of the November Uprising (1831), he exclaimed:
Vive la Pologne! It ts successor in turn, Peter II, agreed to accept the membership of Polish émigré

the Société Nationale des Amis et Polonaise de la Pologne. In the year1907 at the Second International
Peace Conference in The Hague, the representative of Brazil Ruy Barbosa, a prominent lawyer and
politician, in his fiery speeches repeatedly advocated the restoration of Poland s independence. Not
surprisingly, that Brazil was the first country in Latin America, which announced that it recognizes the

Gothic Elements Of Gothic Literature
the use of gothic description to provide accounts of pleasuring horror stories. Some of the most well
known works of horror included the Arabian Nights and Ferdinand Count Fathom (pg. 591). Other
known gothic stories, particularly, From the Romance of the Forest by Ann Radcliffe, and The Castle
of Otranto by Horace Walpole, also provided a sense of terror to their readers (pg. 591). In these two
novels, architectural environments conveyed a sense of dread, fear, and terror by incorporating
literally elements that invoked frightening and horrifying sensations, which gave these stories, a
horrific pleasure that its readers desired. One of the most notable literally elements used in the two
poems was the use of gloomy scenery to set an ominous atmosphere that contributed to the poem s
sense of horror. For example, in the Castle of Otranto, Lord Manfred announced to Isabella he desired
her hand in marriage and then proceeded to pursue her. At that same instance, it was written, when the
moon, which was now up and gleamed in at the opposite casement, presented to his slight the plumes
of the fatal helmet, which rose to the height of the windows, waving backwards and forwards in a
tempestuous manner, and accompanied with a hollow and rustling sound (Walpole 587). This
description illustrated Manfred s character to appear more horrifying and evil, which built onto the
amount of fear that was being experienced. Similarly, in, The Romance of the Forest, after Adeline

The Negative Aspects Of Fast Food
Fast food is the most popular food in the United States. There already is over 200.000 restaurants in
America, such as Jack in the Box, McDonald s, In and Out, and have 50 million people Americans eat
at one of them in a single day, and fast food industries can earn $200 billion as their profits for every

society class, but also they provide multiple flavor available for people choosing. However, America
has the most obese people compared to any other single country, the main reason is that people cannot
control themselves for eating fast food, which contains a high calorie and fat. If people intake of fat
and calorie excessively, which will lead to people have health problems, such as obesity, heart attack,

can give people benefits that other restaurant cannot, such as saving time for waiting the food be

and it offers a variety of options that positively benefit society.
Nowadays, time is as valuable as treasure in most people s eyes, which nobody dares waste. However,
food is required for everyone in order to intake the energy, which means it is difficult to avoid wasting
time while eating in the restaurant or cooking at home. Therefore, fast food will be a good option for
those people. It s no doubt that fast food can help people save much time. In the article Advantages
and Disadvantages of Fast food Every Foodie Must Know illustrates the time convincement of fast
food compared with the home cooking. Home cooking require people to spend time for shopping in

Behavior Change Assignment Analysis
Behavior Change Assignment My goal for this behavior change assignment is to get at least seven
hours of sleep for at least five nights a week for at least two weeks. I set my goal to be at least seven
hours because that is the recommended number of hours of sleep a adult should have each night. I
wanted to make this behavior change because I find myself feeling tired and exhausted throughout the
day because of the lack of sleep I get. I also wanted to make this behavior change because I began to
take naps in the afternoon. After waking up from these naps, I felt even more exhausted and tired than
before I took the nap. I m hoping that by getting more sleep at night that I can eliminate naps so I can
use my time for something more productive. This behavior goal wasn t a easy habit for me to change.

naps from my day and using that time to do homework in order to go to bed earlier. What influenced
me in order to implement this goal was that I was getting sick of always feeling exhausted and tired

easiest and 10 being the hardest, would be a 6. I knew the goal was going to be a little challenging

Leadership Self-Analysis Essay
As a leader in our church, after attending the program in Clinical Pastoral Education, I
learned so much about self. Self awareness is a major growing edge in anyones
leadership skills. Especially if you are trying to be successful and effective with your
congregation, family and in the community.
I learned that when dealing with conflict, I had the tendency to shy away or pretend as
though the conflict is not happening or that it didn t exist. This behavior would lead to
some unattended and unhealthy issues within my self. My peers were able to recognize
my actions when conflicts occurred and would question my response and actions.. It was

Therefore, in order for my organization or ministry to be
successful, I must always be honest about my weaknesses and create a safe environment
so that others may experience that safe haven in order for us to build a trust with one
another.
I believe if trust is absent, the foundation for building goes out the window. I agree
with Patrick Lecioni, members of great teams trust one another on a fundamental,
emotional level, and they are comfortable being vulnerable with each other about their
weaknesses, mistakes, fears, and behaviors.
When we as leaders are able to embrace such a bond with a team, this creates a safe
environment for sharing, venting, and expressing true feelings about new ideas and
thoughts.
So with all of that put in place, it is important for leaders to start off being
honest about their weaknesses and strengths. Hopefully, this would open the floor for
other team members to be honest about theirs.
We will set the ground rules, which would included boundaries and will know that we
are to be committed to factors set in place. Each team member should express openly
what team means to them and what do they call a team.
We should be clear about what each person is expecting from the team and if they
agree with the terms addressed. We should always revisit our ground rules to make sure
we are moving forward with our goals and our time frame

The Economics Of Renewable Energy
This paper reports on the microeconomic aspect of obtaining the energy that is present in the
environment. A number of factors including the rapidly growing demand for energy to fuel economic
development, the need by countries to diversify their energy production into environmentally
sustainable supply sources while concurrently taking into careful consideration climate change, energy
security and economic factors have all served to greatly contribute towards the current accelerated
private and public investment in renewable energy. While numerous countries around the world have
been able to design attractive incentive structures that aim at inducing private investment in obtaining
the renewable energy that is present in the environment, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cost of producing renewable energy from the environment has undergone a significant decrease of
the past 15 20 years as a result of drastic enhancements in not only the economies of scale, but also the
technology that is related to production. Renewable energy s future prospects are noted to be even
more promising in light of the continually falling costs involved in producing this energy as well as
the growing awareness of the energy and environmental security benefits that these technologies
provide.
Renewable energies have variously been defined as those energies that are easily derived from simple
natural process and can be constantly replenished from these sources without exhausting these
sources. This form of energy is usually derived either indirectly or directly from the sun or from the
geothermal heat that is that present from deep within the earth (Jordan Korte, 2011).
The growing global concerns pertaining to the issue of climate change and the effect that this is having
on the planet have led to growing interest in the renewable energy technologies. This is exemplified
by the fact that a number of industrialized countries have over the years moved to make significant
investments in developing countries aimed at developing renewable energy sources under the
provisions of the Clean Development Mechanism that was included in the Kyoto Protocol (UNEP,
2008). Developing countries are investing in renewable

The Aftermath of Colonial Rule in The Dragon Can t Dance
The effects of colonialism are ingrained into every facet of society in Trinidad. The novel The Dragon
Can t Dance written by Earl Lovelace, has many aspects of a postcolonial society, from the way
people act on a day to day basis to the traditions upheld during Carnival. There is enough evidence to
argue that the town and all its residents are experiencing postcolonialism, or the aftermath of colonial
rule. Three central time frames in the novel will support this: before Carnival, during and after
Carnival, and after Aldrick s six year term in prison. These scenes in the novel depict this theme and
demonstrate the postcolonial values that still dominate Calvary Hill. Postcolonialism also affects
Pariag and is demonstrated by how he is treated by his neighbors. Finally we will deconstruct the idea
of the Carnival and figure out the relationship of this to the Postcolonial Theory and how this is a
reflection of colonial rule. Postcolonial theory focuses on the aftermath of colonial rule and the way
former colonizers and colonized people interact in society. In many instances of postcolonialism the
original culture of the colonized is lost through cultural colonialism. Mimicry is an effect of this in
which the colonized people begin to take on the customs of the colonizers. Another is hybridity when
the two cultures are are mixed and a new

for wealth for Europe. In addition, the la Plata figure is fearful of a snake, which represents the fear
that the money could be stolen. It is rumored that Bernini put the la Plata figure in front of his rival s

The North American Free Trade Agreement Essay
The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) is an agreement negotiated by three countries;
Canada, Mexico, and the United States. The main purpose of NAFTA is essentially to reduce trade
barriers in order to promote international commerce, and open up different industries to trade, in
particular textiles, agriculture, and automobile sectors. The introduction of NAFTA completely
transformed North American economic relations and led to unparalleled cooperation between the U.S.
Canada and Mexico. This research paper will look at the positive and negative impacts of NAFTA and
examine whether or not it has been overall successful in promoting economic growth in its member
nations. In order to answer this question, I will examine the effects of NAFTA on the U.S., Mexico
and Canada by focusing on the macroeconomic impact of NAFTA, its influence on different economic
sectors, and the dynamics of free trade between the developed economies of the U.S. and Canada and
an undeveloped country, Mexico Macroeconomic Effects The formation of NAFTA put together a $19

that NAFTA has advanced the economies of its members. Trade in the region has increased
dramatically from 1993, from around $290 billion to around $1.0 trillion in 2016 (Source). Other

The Tragedy Of The Iliad
Homer in The Iliad explained the scenes of the Trojan War. Both sides had many great heroes to fight.
The Greeks had Menelaus and Achilles. Trojans had Hector and God like Paris. Even though heroes
on both sides had many qualities, but I chose Hector as my partner. I chose Hector to defend me on the
fields of Troy in battle.
Hector was prince of Troy. He was son of Priam and brother of God like Paris. Even though he had a
lot of qualities to be chosen as a partner, the main reason I chose him as my partner is that he never
forget his duties, he always did the right thing, and he always remind his other Trojan fellows about
their duties. Following are some of the scenes from The Iliad which served as the reasons why I chose
him as my partner in the battle.
God like Paris with the help of Aphrodite got Helen and vanished from the fields. The Trojans were
feeling insecure as their leader left them at the battle fields alone and was having a good time with
Helen. Hector was the one who went to Paris and reminded him of his duties and told him that how his
deeds made The Trojans ashamed of themselves in front of The Greeks. Hector said, Evil hearted
Paris, beautiful to look upon, woman mad and false of tongue. How much better if you had never
been! Better far than to bring shame on us like this. Now the long haired Greeks will laugh at us and
say that our beautiful hero has no heart in him or courage. (Homer 48)

Exploring Inferential Statistics and Their Discontents
What are degrees of freedom? The degrees of freedom (df) of an estimate is the number or function of
sample size of information on which the estimate is based and are free to vary relating to the sample
size (Jackson, 2012; Trochim Donnelly, 2008).
How are the calculated? The degrees of freedom for an estimate equals the number of values minus
the number of factors expected en route to the approximation in question. Therefore, the degrees of
freedom of an estimate of variance is equal to N 1, where N is the number of observations (Jackson,
2012). Given a single set of six numbers (N) the df = 6 1 = 5.

What are your options if your dependent variable scores are not normally distributed? Transformation
of data using a logarithm, square root, reciprocal, or some other function assists in normalizing the
data and correcting for heteroscedasiticy, nonlinearity, and outliers when one or more variables are not
normally distributed (Abrams, 1999; Bland Altman, 1996). The extent of the deviations from
normality determines the specific transformation used. A moderate difference in normality uses a
square root transformation, more substantially non normal uses a log transformation, and severely non
normal would use an inverse transformation (Abrams, 1999). The aim of data transformation allows
for changing the non normal distributed population data into more useful variable and is not
uncommon as the basic statistical summaries such as the sample mean, variance, z scores, histograms,
etc., are all transformed data and require the data follow a particular distribution (Bland Altman, 1996;
Trochim Donnelly, 2008).

John s Cafe
Introduction
Many successful businesses stem from one simple good idea. Someone with a bit more vision than
average mechanise flow in the market. Mr Yip notices that existing producers are failing to provide
the benefits that consumers are really looking for. This research focuses on a particularly successful
business idea which resulted in the foundation of John s Cafe, one of the largest home coffee shop
companies in the around Melbourne. Large coffee shop was built on 10 Little Bourke Street
Melbourne where rates were cheaper and or competitive and people could park easily. Mr Yip built his
business on the philosophy We do a little, you do a little, together we save money which meant that
the customer became part of the production process. All this allowed for long production runs, which
provided economies of scale and growth whilst maintaining the quality of the finished products.
Instead of increasing the numbers of service personnel when the business grew, he kept the numbers

Reality Pans Labyrinth Essay
Perception alters reality pans labyrinth. The film El Laberinto del Fauno by Guillermo del Toro is
constantly contrasting the fantasy world with the harsh world of reality. These light hearted scenes
represent the joyful, free Spain that could exist with the fall of fascism, whilst the world of reality with
its brutal nature represents the fascist nation of Spain. As the film nears its conclusion, the two worlds
begin to merge, revealing that the type of world that may be present in the future differs for each
person depending on how they perceive the events and world around them. The first instance in which
the alteration of form to suit views in the film is the transformation of the mantid transforms into a
fairy, to suit the needs of what Ophelia views it to be. This shows how the desires of a person lead to
the alterations of reality to meet their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Ophelia decides to refuse the fauns request and walk away, captain Vidal enters the centre of the
labyrinth, revealing that he is not capable of seeing the faun, as he heads towards Ofelia without
question. This yet again shows how those who cannot perceive Spain as being free in the future are
incapable of seeing the fantasy aspects of the film, representing the free Spain of the future. This is a
key scene as Vidal himself is the embodiment of fascism, which explains why he cannot see Spain as
being free, due to the fact that freedom and fascism cannot be symbiotic, as the rise in one will always
result in the fall of another. This is portrayed through the use of a POV shot, from Vidal s perspective,
showing Ofelia talking to no one, making her appear to look mad. This emphasises the fact that those
who couldn t see Spain as being a free country, believed those who fought for it to be insane. By doing
this Del Toro confirms the fact that only those who believe in the fantasy world that is a free Spain are
able to notice

Chris Owings Speakout Analysis
Outside of rostering Judge, Harper, Trout, and Cano, there are plenty of cheaper, under the radar
options that have been maintaining consistency. Here are a few standouts. Chris Owings: Owings is
truly a jack of all trades. Wherever the DBacks need him, he is there, whether he plays outfield,
shortstop or second base, although his primary role is shortstop. Drafted by the Diamondbacks in 2009
out of high school. He made his major league debut in Sept of 2013. He spent sometime prowling
around the Diamondbacks system but it looks like he is here to stay. In 28 games, Owings is batting
.311 with 21 RBI s and 5 HR. His salary has gone up in both DK and Fanduel, he is currently sitting at

Beethoven Essay
The rise of Ludwig van Beethoven into the rank of history s greatest composers was paralleled by and
in some ways a consequence of his own personal tragedy and despair.
Beethoven s family was of the Flemish origin. His mother, Maria Magdalena, died after a long illness
when Beethoven was only 17. He was not the only child in this family though. He had 2 brothers and
1 sister, both to which were disorganized and unruly. His family was always in constant need of funds.
Beethoven showed his extraordinary musical talent at an early age. His father hoped he could induce
his child s development and make him more like Mozart, and possibly bring in some money for the
family which was desperately in need.

He began to study with other teachers and soon became very popular in Vienna. Some were pleased
with his performances, but others were embarrassed by his arrogance and bad manners.
In the late 1790 s, Beethoven discovered an increasing buzzing and humming in his ears and it sent
him into panic, searching for a cure. In 1802, he wrote a letter to his brother describing his anguish.
He asked his brother to read the letter at the funeral. His suffering had a brief respite when he soon fell
in love with a young countess, and dedicated a song to her called Moonlight Sonata . Even after this,
she did not marry Beethoven.
By October 1802, he had written the Heiligenstadt Testament confessing his deafness, and suicidal
considerations.
By about 1800, Beethoven was mastering the Viennese High Classic style. Although Mozart had first
perfected the style, Beethoven did extend it to some degree. Having displayed a wide range of his
piano writing, he was also beginning to forge a new voice for the violin.
Beethoven s deafness landed him into a major cycle of depression. In his Testament, he reveals his
malaise that was sending him to the edge of despair. He speaks of suicide in the same breath as a
reluctance to die. Having searched vainly for a

Reoccurring Themes Of Evil In The Fellowship Of The Ring
The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines evil as morally reprehensible and causes harm . Some will
debate that evil is an inherited trait, while others will argue that evil is acquired over time. Throughout
J.R.R. Tolkien s first part of The Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring , there are reoccurring
themes of evil and corruption, most of which surround the One Ring, and can vary depending on who
possesses the Ring. While both natural evilness and developed evilness are demonstrated, The
Fellowship of the Ring suggests that evil is not inherited, but acquired over time. Evil is prominent
throughout The Fellowship of the Ring . Shortly after Boromir suggests that they use the Ring against
Sauron, Elrond responds saying that the Ring, is altogether evil (267). The Ring was crafted with the
sole purpose of evil. This is seen in the inscription on the Ring which says, One ring to bring them all
and in the darkness to bind them (50). This script shows that the ring was created to draw other to
darkness , which is often used to symbolize evil. While the Ring itself is evil, it is the only truly evil
thing in Middle Earth: For noting was evil in the beginning. Even Sauron was not so. (267).
Throughout The Fellowship of the Ring , there is a close correlation between the one ring and evil, as
Elrond says, The very desire of it corrupts the heart (267). When Gandalf the Grey suggests that Bilbo
leaves the ring behind before he goes on his journey, Bilbo

Argumentative Essay On Youth Sports
Youth Sports
Have you ever seen 7 year old s play soccer? Some leagues have them play three on three. What can
you expect from a kid playing that young? You have heard coaches yelling commands at the kids to
keep them on track. During the same time, you probably have heard the coach during a time out or a
break in the game raising his voice; what they should be doing and what they are doing wrong. This
has brought up the debates over the past years involving youth sports and whether you should let your
child play or not. Tee ball, soccer, football, volleyball, basketball, is among the sports parents
contemplate to sign their child up for. Some of that debate also includes what is the perfect age they
should start playing sports. If your child is under 10 years old you should not put your child in youth
sports because; there is a lot of bad coaches, parents interfering with the coaches and officials during
games, and coaches only want to win on game day. As a matter of fact, you can hear or read evidence
of bad coaching in youth sports. The coach called one player a f*****g retard in front of his
teammates. (Coben, Harlan. That s Not Coaching. It s child Abuse . Opinion World. Bloomberg). You
have probably seen it firsthand. A coach throwing their clipboard, yelling at a child for missing up,
and even telling the kids at halftime what they did wrong instead of what they did right. Every year if
you keep up with youth sports around the nation, not just your state, you can read about how parents
are complaining about having a bad coach for their child, how they did not play, how they were not
taught the sport. Some coaches are only coaching because they signed up their child to play a sport
and they believe they can teach him and others the sport. Knowing the sport, and knowing how to
teach the sport are two different things. Some believe they need to run their program for 10 and under
like a boot camp and yell at the kids and talk down to them in front of other kids. Most coaches in
leagues are not certified to coach so anyone can be a coach, if you pass a background check. This
process does not make every person who signs up their child for youth sports very confident. A coach
who usually volunteers is a

Embalming In American Culture
The term embalming is a familiar one in today s society; however, many people are unaware of what
happens during its process. Depending upon the family s wishes, a body may or may not be
embalmed. Culture can also play a part in making that decision. Embalming is a simple process with
rich history that does wonders for a body and families.
The history of embalming goes all the way back to the Civil War. Those who were left needed an
efficient way to take care of the fallen bodies. Dr. Thomas Holmes was the first person to practice the
French s embalming techniques in America. Since families wanted to bring their loved ones bodies
home, this preservation tactic proved worthy. Eventually, many soldiers pre paid to be embalmed in

Some families want to see their loved one for the last time as if they are sleeping. Embalming makes
this possible. The chemicals give the skin a natural color, along with makeup and other fixings
(Godfrey). For many families, this last memory of their loved one is very important (Embalming).
In rare circumstances, various cultures do not embalm the dead. Islamic and Jewish cultures refuse to
embalm the deceased. It is seen as disrespectful to the body. Bodies are buried within 24 48 hours of
their deaths. Hindus do not bury the dead at all; rather, they are burned. Catholicism requires that a
body is buried as soon as arrangements are made. Due to these speedy burials and requirements,
embalming is not necessary here. In fact, embalming is looked down upon in these cultures (Gray).
Despite common beliefs, embalming is a short process. There are two main parts: internal and
external. First, the blood and other bodily fluids are replaced with embalming fluid. To do this, a small
incision is made to the neck and the two veins are brought up. The body cavity is punctured and cured
as well. Once the inside of the body is completely embalmed, the focus returns to the external parts.
The jaw is shut, the eyes are fixed, and any work to rebuild the face is done. Then makeup is applied.
The hair styling is left up to the cosmetologist in most cases (The Embalming

Dickman, C. R., Australian Nature Conservation Agency, University of Sydney, Invasive Species

Canberra, ACT: Australian Nature Conservation Agency.
Content Summary
In this book the authors review impact of feral cats. Feral cats have major or minor impacts on the
Australian native wildlife some of which are competitive, amensal, and predatory. The Competitive
impact caused by cats is on large predatory species by loss of prey. Amensal impact is most likely
cause by transmission of diseases. And predatory impact on native wildlife has been identified by
historical evidence. Many conclusions can be made from this evidence. Mammals make up a large
part of a feral cats diet. They target mammals weighing up to 2kg, and birds up to 1kg. But they prefer
prey weighing less then approximately 200grams in Mainland Australia. ... Show more content on

like they are important and shows them they are making a valued contribution. If what you re told
relates to a forthcoming event, such as a birthday or holiday, remembering this for the next time you

By being approachable and a good listener it gives the child confidence to speak to the individual
should there be anything wrong where they need to confide in someone.
Conversely, if the Teaching Assistant is in a bad mood, possibly conveyed by poor body language, or
if they are distracted when a child is talking, thereby giving mixed messages, it can have a negative
impact on the child. If a child is talking and the Teaching Assistants body language shows they are not
fully listening, such as if they are looking away or talking over them, this passes on the message that
they are not interested in what the child has to say and the child may not bother taking the time to
speak to the Teaching Assistant again in the future.

The Bacteria Escherichia Coli ( E. Coli )
Question 1
In the past scientist have used the bacteria Escherichia coli (E. coli) in Synthetic Biology to allow the
bacterial species to recognise and respond to light frequencies providing greater knowledge of
complex biological systems (Levskaya et al. 2005). E. coli is a suitable chassis to express Green
Fluorescent Protein (GFP) as the bacteria s plasmid helps to establish GFP (Chavshin et al. 2013). The
bacterial plasmid is a maltose binding protein that helps E. coli and GFP fuse together and allows for
detection of gene expression and controlling internal environments (Feilmeier et al. 2000). As GFP is
a useful biological indicator due to its fluorescent structure (Mazzola et al. 2005) and through the
ability of E. coli responding to light, GFP is easily expressed through the process of light stimulation
(Lee, J et al. 2013). Through the unique structure and functions found within E. coli, it allows for
successful expression of GFP making E. coli a suitable base organism.
Question 2
Jellyfish (Aequorea victoria) naturally produce GFP (Zupen et al. 2004) allowing for extraction of the
organisms genes and protein to engineer a bacteria that can produce GFP. Scientists are able to blind a
bacterial species for example E. coli with GFP by cloning the genes found within jellyfish that
produce Green Florescent Protein and insert it into a chosen bacterial species (Zupen et al. 2004).
Through the expression of the GFP gene in other organisms, synthetic biology can be

debated about topics in the world right now . Drones are used by the government in war, by Amazon
to deliver packages but when they government uses them, they use drones in war instead of the
military jets. They are also used to monitor cites and towns in America which made people feel like
their space is being invaded. we don t want the government hovering over our cities and towns 24/7
and tracking everywhere that everyone goes (source A). Which raises the question are these drones
actually bettering us as a nation or just another thing that needs to die off. I feel that drones have the
same effect as the regular artillery has but us americans do not have to die in battle. Drones can be

Legal experts are concerned about the potential for drones to violate people s rights to privacy under
the Fourth amendment to the U.S.constitution (source A). Drones are an invasion of privacy because
they are flying over you watching every single thing you do and the government already has a lot of
control over us and this would be too much. In addition there have been dozens of near misses
between drones and planes, at airports in New York, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C.(source A). Its
a another thing when they are being used in different country against our enemies, but when it s
putting our people in danger it is a problem that needs to be regulated. Some states have actually
already started to regulate drones from what happens when flyaways , drones that have software
glitches and escape from the operators, crash into buildings and trees which are hazardous to our

Bad Pride Research Paper
Could too much pride be a bad thing or is pride a good thing? Pride is taking pleasure from the person
s own achievements. I say pride could go both ways. Let s say you are playing a baseball game and
you make a good play, you would have a rush of self accomplishment that makes you feel good
because people are congratulating that play. Pride could also make people do something to make sure
their pride is still there, but I believe that pride is a good thing.
People will be proud of many things such as: owning a home or graduating college because they knew
it was going to be hard but they persevered. Although pride could be a good thing, there are also many
definitions of pride as it states in article 1, John Amodeo Ph.D., MFT Why Pride Is Nothing to Be
Proud Of , A feeling that you are more important or better than other people and inordinate self
esteem. So many people will be so prideful that they won t ask for help or admit that they were wrong.
Pride could have a huge ego inflation that causes overconfidence and arrogance. They could be so full
of themselves that it will be hard to admit you were wrong because they were so desired to be right. ...

Affirming our human dignity and allowing others their dignity, we become more available to relish
our lives and enjoy connecting with others as equals. Pride is a burden we don t need. When it said
pride is a burden it is saying that without pride we would connect with people and we all would work

Music Day
Music affects people in various ways. Ones reaction to music differs from person to person. It can
evoke emotions of both joy and happiness. Music can stir up old memories of different times, places,
and people. In the U.S. a major part of life is music, as stated by Natalie Guice Adams and Pamela J.
Bettis, American institution that can tell us something about ourselves, like jazz, baseball, and
cheerleading, are also not static but being created anew with each generation. (Remix 240.) One can
see how large of a role music plays in people s lives, and that s why I m proposing a holiday based on

Everyone from popular artists to local bands would hit the stage and play just for the love of music.
Free concerts available in just about every town for everyone to enjoy. This would give people a
chance to go hear their favorite music artists. This opens up the idea of travel on Music Day. People
and their families may want to go see a performer who is far away, and what better way to go on a
small family vacation. I can just hear it now, Hey Kids pack your bags were going to New York City
for Music day. The key to this aspect of the holiday is for all the concerts to be free of charge, so that
way everyone who wants to has the option to go listen to professional musicians. Whether it is the
symphony, a bluegrass show, a solo pianists, the latest rap artist, or even a heavy metal band
performances would be taking place all day so there is always something for everyone. Parents can go
down to the jazz club, or check out an oldies concert while the kids see the local punk bands
performing just down the block. This event would of course be massive and require a lot of planning
and thought, but a holiday celebrating the joy music brings to our lives is well worth that. Plus Music
Day would be a holiday everyone would look forward to. Going to concerts is fun and exciting.
People pay big bucks to see professionals do their thing on stage and walk away feeling like they got
the best out of their money. The free concerts would be gain public popularity in no time at all,

  • 2. Parallelism In Patrick Henry s Speech To The Virginia... The prominent patriot Patrick Henry once said, I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death! (Henry 7) implying that a life without liberty is not a righteous life. Henry s quote is included in his popular oratory, Speech to the Virginia Convention , in which he discusses with the colonists who were under the tyrannical reign of the Crown. Throughout his speech, Henry lists all of the discrepancies the thirteen colonies had with Great Britain, concluding that there is no other option, but to retaliate instantaneous. In Patrick Henry s Speech to the Virginia Convention, he utilizes amplifying loaded words and coherent parallelism in order to influence the assembly to unify and reciprocate. Throughout the entirety of his speech, Henry presents amplifying loaded words to bring to attention the predicament between the two opposing sides. Loaded words are terms of influence by employing positive or negative connotations. For example, Henry claims in paragraph five, We have petitioned; we have remonstrated; we have supplicated... (Henry 5). He particularly targets the verb of the sentences by altering their meaning, to add a kick to the phrase. The Great Terror Robert Conquest Summary With Robert Conquest s first edition of The Great Terror published in 1968, critics acclaimed that his work was a spotlight on the atrocities wrought by the Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin. Since then, with new sources and statistics coming forward, there have been two reassessments published by Conquest. Regardless of edition, the author attempts to provide the reader a gripping account of Stalin s mass purges where millions were murdered and millions more were sent to Soviet prisons in brutal, inhumane conditions. Furthermore, to give the reader a well rounded view of this period Conquest writes about more than just the gulags. I agree with Patrick Lecioni, members of great teams trust one another on a fundamental, emotional level, and they are comfortable being vulnerable with each other about their weaknesses, mistakes, fears, and behaviors. Analysis Of The Book The Dragon Can t Dance Essay Elinor Johnson, Brandi Cathey World Literature Amanda Bryan November 24, 2015 The Aftermath of Colonial Rule in The Dragon Can t Dance The effects of colonialism are ingrained into every facet of society in Trinidad. The novel The Dragon Can t Dance written by Earl Lovelace, has many aspects of a postcolonial society, from the way people act on a day to day basis to the traditions upheld during Carnival. There is enough evidence to argue that the town and all its residents are experiencing postcolonialism, or the aftermath of colonial rule. Three central time frames in the novel will support this: before Carnival, during and after Carnival, and after Aldrick s six year term in prison. These scenes in the novel depict this theme and demonstrate the postcolonial values that still dominate Calvary Hill. Postcolonialism also affects Pariag and is demonstrated by how he is treated by his neighbors. Finally we will deconstruct the idea of the Carnival and figure out the relationship of this to the Postcolonial Theory and how this is a reflection of colonial rule. Postcolonial theory focuses on the aftermath of colonial rule and the way former colonizers and colonized people interact in society. In many instances of postcolonialism the original culture of the colonized is lost through cultural colonialism. Mimicry is an effect of this in which the colonized people begin to take on the customs of the colonizers. Another is hybridity when the two cultures are are mixed and a new ... The degrees of freedom (df) of an estimate is the number or function of sample size of information on which the estimate is based and are free to vary relating to the sample size (Jackson, 2012; Trochim Donnelly, 2008). How are the calculated? The degrees of freedom for an estimate equals the number of values minus the number of factors expected en route to the approximation in question. Therefore, the degrees of freedom of an estimate of variance is equal to N 1, where N is the number of observations (Jackson, 2012). Given a single set of six numbers (N) the df = 6 1 = 5. Transformation of data using a logarithm, square root, reciprocal, or some other function assists in normalizing the data and correcting for heteroscedasiticy, nonlinearity, and outliers when one or more variables are not normally distributed (Abrams, 1999; Bland Altman, 1996). The extent of the deviations from normality determines the specific transformation used. A moderate difference in normality uses a square root transformation, more substantially non normal uses a log transformation, and severely non normal would use an inverse transformation (Abrams, 1999). The aim of data transformation allows for changing the non normal distributed population data into more useful variable and is not uncommon as the basic statistical summaries such as the sample mean, variance, z scores, histograms, etc., are all transformed data and require the data follow a particular distribution (Bland Altman, 1996; Trochim Donnelly, 2008). In 1802, he wrote a letter to his brother describing his anguish. He asked his brother to read the letter at the funeral. His suffering had a brief respite when he soon fell in love with a young countess, and dedicated a song to her called Moonlight Sonata . Even after this, she did not marry Beethoven. Some will debate that evil is an inherited trait, while others will argue that evil is acquired over time. Throughout J.R.R. Tolkien s first part of The Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring , there are reoccurring themes of evil and corruption, most of which surround the One Ring, and can vary depending on who possesses the Ring. While both natural evilness and developed evilness are demonstrated, The Fellowship of the Ring suggests that evil is not inherited, but acquired over time. Evil is prominent throughout The Fellowship of the Ring . Shortly after Boromir suggests that they use the Ring against Sauron, Elrond responds saying that the Ring, is altogether evil (267). The Ring was crafted with the sole purpose of evil. This is seen in the inscription on the Ring which says, One ring to bring them all and in the darkness to bind them (50). This script shows that the ring was created to draw other to darkness , which is often used to symbolize evil. While the Ring itself is evil, it is the only truly evil thing in Middle Earth: For noting was evil in the beginning. Even Sauron was not so. (267). You have heard coaches yelling commands at the kids to keep them on track. During the same time, you probably have heard the coach during a time out or a break in the game raising his voice; what they should be doing and what they are doing wrong. This has brought up the debates over the past years involving youth sports and whether you should let your child play or not. Tee ball, soccer, football, volleyball, basketball, is among the sports parents contemplate to sign their child up for. Some of that debate also includes what is the perfect age they should start playing sports. If your child is under 10 years old you should not put your child in youth sports because; there is a lot of bad coaches, parents interfering with the coaches and officials during games, and coaches only want to win on game day. As a matter of fact, you can hear or read evidence of bad coaching in youth sports. The coach called one player a f*****g retard in front of his teammates. (Coben, Harlan. That s Not Coaching. It s child Abuse . Opinion World. Bloomberg). You have probably seen it firsthand. A coach throwing their clipboard, yelling at a child for missing up, and even telling the kids at halftime what they did wrong instead of what they did right. Every year if you keep up with youth sports around the nation, not just your state, you can read about how parents are complaining about having a bad coach for their child, how they did not play, how they were not taught the sport. Some coaches are only coaching because they signed up their child to play a sport and they believe they can teach him and others the sport. Knowing the sport, and knowing how to teach the sport are two different things. Some believe they need to run their program for 10 and under like a boot camp and yell at the kids and talk down to them in front of other kids. Most coaches in leagues are not certified to coach so anyone can be a coach, if you pass a background check. In rare circumstances, various cultures do not embalm the dead. Islamic and Jewish cultures refuse to embalm the deceased. It is seen as disrespectful to the body. Bodies are buried within 24 48 hours of their deaths. Hindus do not bury the dead at all; rather, they are burned. Catholicism requires that a body is buried as soon as arrangements are made. Due to these speedy burials and requirements, embalming is not necessary here. In fact, embalming is looked down upon in these cultures (Gray). Despite common beliefs, embalming is a short process. There are two main parts: internal and external. First, the blood and other bodily fluids are replaced with embalming fluid. To do this, a small incision is made to the neck and the two veins are brought up. The body cavity is punctured and cured as well. Once the inside of the body is completely embalmed, the focus returns to the external parts. The jaw is shut, the eyes are fixed, and any work to rebuild the face is done. Then makeup is applied. Canberra, ACT: Australian Nature Conservation Agency. Content Summary In this book the authors review impact of feral cats. Feral cats have major or minor impacts on the Australian native wildlife some of which are competitive, amensal, and predatory. The Competitive impact caused by cats is on large predatory species by loss of prey. Amensal impact is most likely cause by transmission of diseases. And predatory impact on native wildlife has been identified by historical evidence. Many conclusions can be made from this evidence. Mammals make up a large part of a feral cats diet. • 36. The Bacteria Escherichia Coli ( E. Coli ) Question 1 In the past scientist have used the bacteria Escherichia coli (E. coli) in Synthetic Biology to allow the bacterial species to recognise and respond to light frequencies providing greater knowledge of complex biological systems (Levskaya et al. 2005). E. coli is a suitable chassis to express Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) as the bacteria s plasmid helps to establish GFP (Chavshin et al. 2013). The bacterial plasmid is a maltose binding protein that helps E. coli and GFP fuse together and allows for detection of gene expression and controlling internal environments (Feilmeier et al. 2000). As GFP is a useful biological indicator due to its fluorescent structure (Mazzola et al. 2005) and through the ability of E. coli responding to light, GFP is easily expressed through the process of light stimulation (Lee, J et al. 2013). Through the unique structure and functions found within E. coli, it allows for successful expression of GFP making E. coli a suitable base organism. Question 2 Jellyfish (Aequorea victoria) naturally produce GFP (Zupen et al. 2004) allowing for extraction of the organisms genes and protein to engineer a bacteria that can produce GFP. Scientists are able to blind a bacterial species for example E. coli with GFP by cloning the genes found within jellyfish that produce Green Florescent Protein and insert it into a chosen bacterial species (Zupen et al. 2004).
