2. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? In my media product, a music magazine I have used typical conventions used in real magazines such as competitions and free giveaways which are to persuade my target audience to buy the magazine. As magazines usually star the main focus inside the magazine on the front cover, in this case as it is a music magazine I have displayed an image of the artist being interviewed on my double page spread. On my contents I have enlarged a picture of the artist to make him the main focus in my magazine. My contents has a simple layout like most magazines.
3. How does your media product represent particular social groups? In my magazine I have used representations to identify with lifestyles such as anti-authority, experimentalist and materialistic through images and fonts. I have used images which have graffiti in the background to identify with both anti-authority and experimentalist. This is shown as graffiti is creative and artistic which represents both dance culture itself and experimentalist as creativity is related to this. It also represents anti-authority as graffiti is illegal which relates to anti-authority. |I have also used paint splatters which are similar to the graffiti used in the backgrounds of images.
