Biopure Case Summary
Biopure Case Intro
This case is on Biopure Corporation, a privately owned biopharmaceutical firm, competing in
emerging field of blood substitutes with two new products: Hemopure for the human market and
Oxyglobin for the animal market. The United States Food and Drug Administration approved
Oxyglobin on February 5, 1998. The approval of Hemopure is not expected until late 1999 or
early 2000. The company must decide whether to release Oxyglobin immediately or to wait until
Hemopure has established itself in the marketplace. The key protagonist is Carl Rausch, the
president and CEO of Biopure. When proposing actions or solutions, Carl will need to convince the
executives of the company, including Dr. Ted Jacobs and Andrew (Andy) Write. Ted, the vice
president for Human Clinical Trials, thinks Biopure should wait to release Oxyglobin. Andy, the
vice president of Veterinary Products, thinks the company should release Oxyglobin immediately....

One issue is that the animal market is smaller and more price sensitive than the human market, so
Oxyglobin will sell at lower prices. If Oxyglobin is released before Hemopure, it might create an
unrealistic price expectation for Hemopure because the two products are very similar in physical
properties and appearance. Another issue is that Biopure does not have experience releasing new
products and one of its competitors in the human market, Baxter International, has the experience. A
third issue is that the stakeholders of the company want the company to go public in the near future
and the decision could impact the success the initial public

Anne Bradstreet And Edwards
From the writing at home to the speeches at church, Anne Bradstreet and Jonathan Edwards are
two religious authors during the Puritan Times. A woman poet of a time against woman s
independence and a preacher of full religion devotion, Bradstreet and Edwards concept of religion
were presented similarly but not alike. Bradstreet s aspects of religious views were focused upon
praising God and loving her family and husband. Edwards perspective of his sermons were strongly
influenced by religionabout praising the Lord or to suffer in hell if not. Bradstreet s poems, Upon
the Burning of Our Home and To My Dear and Loving Husband , expresses emotional tone and
gratefulness towards God. Edwards sermon, Sinners in the Hand of an Angry God , indicates the
power of God and anger he has towards the non believers. Anne Bradstreetand Jonathan Edwards

Industrial Revolution Essay
The forces that have affected change in nations around the world have always brought about
something good and negative. Those forces have been different, yet important revolutions that have
taken place in the past four centuries. These drastic and radical changes have been brought about
by revolutionaries who desired a free society in which free trade, free markets, and free labor
existed for the common man. These revolutions imply sudden forceful change, however, there is
also evolutionary changes in society that are gradual and develop over time, which bring about
many positive advancements. The French Revolution enhanced a new order of power as the

The Third Estate soon declared to be the National Assembly , which should determine France s
future. Outbreak soon came into play on July 14, 1789 as Parisians attacked a medieval armory
in which the people cut of the head of a commanding officer and paraded it through the streets.
This was to be known as Bastille Day, which declared a new era of liberty, equality and fraternity.
A declaration was established to guarantee all French citizens nation liberties and all men
equality under law, also known as The Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen . The
revolution connected with the concept of the people of a nation and, eventually, gave women
rights for divorce, hold property, be educated and have careers. Unfortunately, by early 1793
Louis XVI lost his head to a guillotine and sparked war with its neighbors. After his execution, a
group known as Jacobins wanted to extend the revolution which lead to a horrific bloodbath of
over 40,000 people known as the Reign of Terror. Until one man named Napoleon Bonaparte
administrated order and security for social reform by allowing religious practice. Napoleon also
named himself as the emperor and ended the revolution at the helm. This was not inevitable
because of the violent nature to revolt and go against irrational laws. The French Revolution was
not one that had no losses, but was far reaching to Europe and a wide spread of individual

Breast Lift Research Paper
A breast lift, referred to also as a mastopexy, is a form of cosmetic surgery that raises and firms
the bosom. It does this by the removal of excess skin. Once the unnecessary skin is taken away
from the chest, the surrounding tissue is then tightened and is reshaped by the doctor. This process
will support the new contour of the breast. Having this procedure will enhance your appearance if
the upper half of your body has dropped and no longer looks as if it is situated where it once was.
Over the course of time, a woman s breasts change. The youthful firmness and shape that you once
enjoyed can disappear. In its place, you can be left with droopy and sagging breasts that suffer
from a loss of skin elasticity. This can occur as a result of fluctuations in weight, pregnancy, ...

Do your research first and if you feel it is an operation that would suit you well, go for it.
A breast lift is a viable option for the female patient who is physically healthy and has maintained
a stable weight for an extended period of time. It is also the right choice for the woman who is
bothered by sagging breasts that have lost their volume and shape. If your chest is flatter, is
pendulous looking, or has an elongated shape, you may make an eligible candidate. Having
realistic expectations about the procedure is important. It is also recommended that a person who
decides to have this operation does not smoke.
If after your take your brassiere off, your nipples drop below the crease in your bosom, this may be
a suitable procedure that will enhance your upper body. If your nipples and your areolas point in
a downward direction or if you have enlarged areolas or stretched skin across your bosom, a
breast lift could improve your figure. If one of your breasts hangs lower than the other, a

An Interview With National State Television And Radio Company
Last year, in an interview with National State Television and Radio Company (VGTRK)
journalist Vladimir Solovyov, Vladimir Putin said Crimea has always been and remains Russian,
as well as Ukrainian, Crimean Tatar, Greek (after all, there are Greeks living there) and German
and it will be home to all of those peoples. As for state affiliation, the people living in Crimea made
their choice; it should be treated with respect, and Russiacannot do otherwise. Since 2014, Russia
and Ukraine have battled over the territory of Crimea, an area in eastern Ukraine stocked with large
amounts of gas and oil. Despite Crimea being in Ukrainian territory, Russia has invaded the region
and claimed it as their own. Although, this conflict in Crimea may be rather new, Ukraine and
Russia share a deep and complex history. In order to study the crisis occurring in Crimea, it is
important to look at not only the problem at hand but also the history, motives, perspectives, and
solutions. Furthermore, the issue cannot be put into context without information on international
relations as a whole, background information about each country, and the role of NATO.
To begin we must look at the topic of international relations. What is international relations?
Multiple theories have developed around this topic, but a general statement mentions it as the study
of conflict and cooperation by international two actors. This concept further explains how two

Mealworms Lab Report
Zophobas morio Preference between a vanilla or coffee abstract
Tylar Lauby
Tuesdays at 6pm
23 September 2014
Abstract Zophobas morio, also known as mealworms, is the larva of the beetles called
tenebrionid beetles. These beetles have a tendency of mainly eating grass and sticks, and they
also tend to burrow. This lab study is to find out if the Z. morio prefer the smell of coffee
abstract or the sweet vanilla abstract. The way we did this study was by taking a habitat with
oats in it and see what side the mealworms would prefer (the coffee side or the vanilla side). My
conclusion of what side the mealworms preferred is the vanilla abstract over the coffee. This might
have been so because they may have liked the sweeter smell ... Show more content on

The mealworms seemed to have preferred the side with vanilla more than coffee. In the scientific
method you have several steps that take place. These steps include observe, develop questions, test,
collect information, analyze the findings, form conclusions, share results, and finally conduct more
research (Schiff, 2015). We have done all of these besides conduct more research. More research
needs to be done in order to find out more accurately if these test findings are accurate. I question
my findings because the abstracts are both human creations making me wonder why they would go
to either or if they had the diet that they do. After finding information about the mealworms I would
have changed my hypothesis to them wanting to go over to the coffee abstract more. This is
because it s more of a natural food and it isn t has sweet smelling as that of vanilla abstract. The
test results surprised me when after the first test. This is because I figured the mealworms
would go to vanilla because of the sweeter smell. But surprisingly they went to the coffee side
more. The second and third test the mealworms went more of where I originally thought. I
figured that all three of the test would be more like the last test was like. Mealworms can be a
pest in a house. They can get into your flour, corn meal, or any other type of house grains
(Arizona, 1997). This is why some students did their testing on some other surfaces so we could see
that they can survive in more than just

Pros And Cons Of Donald Trump
I will build a great wall and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me and I ll build them very
inexpensively. I will build a great, great wall on our southern border, and I will make Mexico pay
for that wall. Mark my words. Is this what we want the next president of the United States to do? I
believe we should stop Donald Trumpfrom being able to do this and choose to vote for Hillary
Clinton.
First off, Donald Trump is a businessman not a politician. He treats all people of color as if they
are immigrants or terrorists. Trump says he wants Americans to feel safe from immigrants, but
he really wants america to be a white only country. Treating woman with no respect is not what
we want for our future. If he becomes president he wants to end Obama s two illegal executive
amnesties. He will insure that all all immigration laws will be enforced. Anyone who enters the
U.S. illegally is subject to deportation, also he will make sure all illegal immigrants will be
deported the minute they are issued to be. One of the main ways he will be doing this by getting
rid of job benefits since so many illegal immigrants come to the U.S. looking for jobs. ... Show

his life in tranquility, deprived of any further responsibilities of ruling the kingdom. Deciding to
distribute his kingdom between his three daughters, King Lear challenges them to a game of
flattery. This leads to Cordelia, his youngest and most beloved daughter being disowned and Kent,
his trusted advisor and good friend banished from the kingdom. The Earl of Gloucester is left
baffled and discusses it with his illegitimate son, Edmund, who hands his father a forged letter.
Edmund frames his legitimate brother, Edgar, with this letter speaking of him wishing for his
father s death. In the second act Regan, Lear s daughter, visits Gloucester with her husband
Cornwall, after hearing rumors. Edmund uses this as a ploy for him to get rid of his brother.

Pros And Cons Of Water Desalination
Water is the nerve of life. It affects the food, energy, environment and health of billions of people
living on the planet earth. Large populations living in vast arid areas around the world suffer from
water scarcity. With exceedingly limited resources of water, about 200 million people distribute the
Arab countries in North Africa, and the Middle East depends mainly on fossil groundwater that is a
non renewable resource. However, modern technology provides them a gift Desalination it is the
technique of removing salt and other impurities from seawater in order to make it suitable for human

Approximately 75% of the Arab population live below the water scarcity level, half of them live
under the level of 500 m3/cap./year (UNISCO 2015, p78). Some argue that people live in this
region can rely on groundwater. However, groundwater is already exhausted and under high
pressure by the growing population. Moreover, boreholes and wells are vulnerable to quality
reduction, pollution and seawater infiltration (Alghariani 2003). Accordingly, people should
depend on desalination as a reliable and practical alternative. For Example, recent estimates
indicate that up to 25 million m3 of desalinated water produce daily worldwide, of which almost
two thirds the production and 77% of all Desalination plants located within countries of the Middle
East and North Africa (Lattemann and Höpner 2008). Another example, Qatar is an Arabian
country with nearly no water (74 mm/year of precipitation rain). However, the water consumption
in this country considered among the highest (430 L./cap./year) worldwide, and almost all water
come from Desalination (Al Attiya 2012). In short, for water scarcity regions such as Arab region,
desalination will be the best sustainable and secure source of

The Era Of The Baroque Era
According to Greenberg (2009), the Baroque era is estimated to be the time period spanning from
1600 until 1750. The year of Sebastian Bach s death, 1750 which is notably and associatively used
as a timeline reference that ends this overly extravagant period of creativity. This timespan became
an era of expressive exuberance of primal human emotions as secularization, the study of scientific
reasoning and intellectual rationale characterized the societal environment. Religion no longer
dominated and controlled the subject matter and stylization of artistic expression, yet it did not
disappear, it merely stepped into the background. The Classical era is estimated to be the time
period spanning from 1750 until 1827. Similarly 1827, the year of Beethoven s death is used to
mark the ending of another era. Within this timespan, society transitioned from overly ornate to a
more defined sophisticated culture with the introduction of the Enlightenment 1730 1780. The
Enlightenment s ideals for the betterment of mankind gave rise to Cosmopolitanism and an
international blurring of musical lines. European mercantilism gave rise to a growing middle class
whose social importance became equal to that of the aristocracy and the high clergy. The middle
class s increased finances allowed them the purchase of real estate and the knowledge of leisure
time with the desire to be entertained. Classical musicbecame more accessible to the middle class as

Elizabeth Cady Argumentative Analysis
Elizabeth Cady Stanton was a suffragist, an abolitionist, an activist, and a leader in the women s
rights movement (Biography 2). During the Civil War, Elizabeth strived to end slavery, but after
the war, she concentrated on women s rights, especially the women s right to vote. She was an
excellent writer, and she used this skill to write the Declaration of Sentiments, which proposed
giving women the right to vote (Elizabeth 2). Stanton was the president of the National Woman

that women are now allowed to vote in the United States. Although I am not a woman, I have

The Causes of Sleep Deprivation
In Western cultures, the biggest cause of sleep deprivation is stress mostly as a result of being
sick, overworking and shift working, drugs, or examinations (Pinel, 2014). Sleep loss can lead to
impairment in decision making. Two studies have been conducted that look at twenty four hours of
sleep deprivation and focus on the effect it has on making complex decisions. Essentially, what is
the effect of total sleep deprivationin decision making? In 2009, David Schyner and his
colleagues had the opportunity to subject fifteen participants to a total of twenty four hours of
sleep deprivation. They set up their experiment by asking participants to make a decision
between two choices and then again between three choices after a day of sleep loss. Researchers
found that participants had a decreased ability to make integrative decisions between two choices,
and the three choice tasks were significantly harder to make more so than the two choice task.
MRIs of the participants showed an overall decrease in five regions of the brainin of task specific
activity versus a full night s rest. Affected brain areas were the superior parietal lobe, which
functions in spatial orientation; the superior frontal gyrus and the middle frontal gyrus, which
function in self awareness in coordination with senses and processing higher information,
respectively; the orbital frontal, the cognitive aspect of processing decision making; and the inferior
and medial polar frontal, which operates in

Throughout the history of African Americans, there have been important historical figures as well

The Battle of Olustee, also known as the Battle of Ocean Pond, only lasted for a single afternoon,

Don t Pay Attention On How The Media Portray Us
I also learn that we don t pay attention on how the media portray us in television. Two of my
favorite shows on television are Scandal and Empire. I now learned that those shows are bad for
black American community. Those show the black community in a negative light. For example
empire, the show is about a black drug dealer who got out of the ghetto and became a multi
millionaire and his wife at the time took the plea for him and went to jail for sixteen so he could

community don t accept that so his father don t respect him, he have daddy issues and the

Maslow s Humanistic Approach Theory
Maslow s Humanistic Approach theory was based solely on what motivates people to reach our
highest potential. He believed that individuals have set motivation systems and individuals
achieve a set of needs by passing these motivation systems. Maslow believed these stages were
set in a hierarchal order and that the lowest system must be accomplished before moving up. He
believed there to be eight stages in his hierarchy. He believed that every person is capable to
move up the hierarchy as long as there basic needs are encountered and they have the desire to
reach the highest potential. According to Maslow, only a small percentage of the population
reaches the level of self actualisation (NetMBA, 2002). The first stage of Maslow s hierarchy...

Until she meets a man that can provide this basic need in life, she will continue feeling lonely
and will continue being desperate for this need. Sex can help boost your spirits through mood
elevating endorphins. Without the benefit of these natural pick me ups, you might be prone to
feeling low (Streicher, 2017). Even though she has dated men in the past, they have not met her
needs in a man and therefore she has not been motivated to move up the hierarchy. Even when
she thought she found a man that met her standards, she would still end up hurt and would fall
down the hierarchy back to stage one. It is proven in the scenario that Ruth also likes her men
intelligent, as she believes that if this individual is intelligent, they will understand her as an
individual better and they will pursue and motivate her to reach the self actualisation that she
needs. When Ruth believed she found the one and continued to chat online with him for hours
upon hours, her basic need for sex was skipped until she met him in person as she believed that
all of her other basic needs were already met. The next stage that Ruth had to undergo in this
relationship were her safety needs. As she continued to talk to him online and did not have any
sense of suspiciousness towards him not being whom he said he was, her safety needs towards
him were encountered. They safety needs were also met when Ruth gave out her address for her

Negative Effects Of Urban Development On The Environment...
Beaches are some of the most romanticized places on the planet, for good reason; however, the
encroachment of humans onto beach and coastal habitats has resulted in several negative outcomes.
At Santa Monica State Beach (and adjoining pier), one of the most popular and polluted beaches in
California, the impacts of urban development, industry, and other man made problems have caused
mass pollution in the surrounding environment. The effects this pollution has on the coastal
wildlife, water quality, and human health are catastrophic to the ecology and natural habitat of the
beach. The beach began to decline in the early twentieth century with the construction of the Santa
MonicaPier in 1909 after sixteen weeks of construction that on its own resulted in many tons of
concrete being poured into Santa Monica Bay (City of Santa Monica, 2015). Over the next few
decades land developers, and beach goers alike contributed a toxic combination of chemicals,
bacteria, and trash that has resulted in Santa Monica Bay having several dead zones (Heal the Bay,
2015), which devastate the marine life population.
Geology of Santa Monica Beach There is relatively little information on the natural geological
history of Santa Monica State Beach; however, there is an explanation as to why. The beach was
one of the very first beaches in California to be artificially doctored starting in the early twentieth
century. The carousel manufacturer, Charles I.D. Looff, purchased the land directly south

Superbowl Essay
The Story of The NFL Shop Family The Superbowl is one of the most widely watched television
events in the nation every year. Unlike many other sporting events, the Superbowl is not
watched by fans of the sport alone, but by just about anyone with access to a television. Growing
up, my brother was the only avid sports fan in the house, but every year the whole family would
crowd around the TV to watch The Superbowl. My brother excluded, we did this not out of real
interest for the sport of Football, but because we wanted to see all of the brand new (and
hopefully emotionally arousing) commercials that air during the Superbowl. Through the years,
the Superbowl has actually become known for this aspect. Recently certain websites have even
began holding an annual ranking for the best and worst Superbowl commercials each year.
Though I wasn t particularly interested in the Superbowl last year, one commercial still stands
out to me almost eight months later. It is a commercial for nflshop.com, and it seems to convey
the story of a family that begins as Vikings fans but over time expands into a family of Vikings,
Bengals, Eagles, Steelers, and Cowboys fans. Depending on the viewer s perspective on the
commercial, in its short 30 second duration the advertisement either tells the story of a touching
progressive family molded by life experiences or of a very noncommittal family with various
impractical team affiliations. Either by alienation or affection the commercial conveys a very

National Hockey League Case Study
The National Hockey League (NHL) was founded on November 1917 with only five teams.
Now, in 2017, the NHL has grown to thirty one teams and the NHL Stanley Cup Finals are
broadcasted to more than 150 countries and watched in more than 300 million homes. As the
league and its and revenue grew, players began to want union representation in order to negotiate
for higher salaries and increased benefits. There was an initial attempt to unionize in 1957 when
Detroit Red Wings Captain Ted Lindsay took action with New York Lawyer Milton Mound.
However, it was not until 1967, under the leadership of Maple Leafs Bob Pulford, that the National
Hockey LeaguePlayersAssociation (NHLPA) was developed. By 2003, a year before one of the

Due to rising tensions between the NHL and NHLPA and a general mistrust felt by players
toward the league, the two organizations were unable to negotiate a new CBA and the NHL
2004 2005 season was cancelled. The issue at hand was to negotiate a new CBA between players
and team owners where both parties were satisfied. Historically, renegotiations were able to be
worked out without too much conflict. In 1992, players had been given full control over the
marketing rights to their images while arriving at a compromise of a shorter CBA contract
length of 2 years. In the 1994 1995 season, the union agreed to the rookie salary cap, unrestricted
free agency system, and modifications to the salary arbitration process. However, the 2004
renegotiation was different. The league wanted to further cut costs and limit the growth of players
salaries by introducing a salary cap and linking salary to revenue. These propositions were met
with extreme opposition from players who believed that salaries were not the cause of the league s
financial instability. As a result, the survival of the historic NHL, whose revenue exceeded $2
billion, was left to negotiation between Gary Bettman, commissioner of the NHL, and Bob

Paving the Way: How Financial Aid Awareness Affects College Access and Success
Literature Review
October 2008 In a time of ever rising college costs, financial aid is critical to increase college
access and success. Federal, state, and institutional aid programs help to ensure that students can
afford higher education regardless of economic background. Financial aid is most effective when
students and families learn about it early enough to make the right choices and plans about high
school coursework, family savings, work and earnings, and college options. This literature review
explores the questions of how and when students and families learn about college costs and
financial aid, and how the timing and substance of that information ... Show more content on

The Mongols And The Mongol Rule
Notorious for their barbaric manners and their brutal tactics of invading and plundering, the
Mongols are commonly associated with a strictly negative reputation and despised for it. Although
this negative image remains associated with their history, with hindsight, historians have been able
to shed light on a positive perspective of the Mongols and their success creating the largest Empire
in world history. This paper will argue that although they were regarded as violent, invading
strangers and initially given few rights, their image in history has changed because the Mongols
were not simply a destructive people; despite lack of historical evidence and documentation,
historians have found they had many positive influences on Asia. Under Mongol rule there was an
improvement of status for many peoples, religious tolerance, and an increase in the trade of
products, culture, and knowledge. The Mongols are known for living a traditionally nomadic
lifestyle and their lack of permanent settlements or even a unified written language makes studying
them difficult for historians. Most of the surviving sources are found in foreign accounts of those
that they came into contact with. Once they began conquering and expanding their vast empire,
most of the permanent cities they created were later on eventually destroyed by their enemies. As a
result, the history of the Mongols is not very well documented. Additionally, most of the available
information on the Mongols is

Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit Case Study
Criteria 1: Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit
Ohio developed this Motion Picture Tax Credit in 2009 to motivate film industries to choose
Ohio as their location and Cleveland has been the popular city to film movies in. Marvel Studios
would thrive under this tax credit because Eligible productions can receive 30 percent on
production cast and crew wages, as well as other eligible in state spending (Ohio Film Office, 2009).
$300,000 must be spent on filming for this tax credit to apply to film producers. Of course, Marvel
Studios spends in the millions, so that would not be a problem.
Through this tax credit, Hollywood has been brought to Cleveland. In a 2016 article, John Kasich s

Costs in Hollywood tend to be much higher than most places and this is causing Hollywood to
leave Hollywood. Ohio is winning the battle ever since this tax credit was passed because $400
million went towards the economy. Jobs have been created and Cleveland is not losing money
from this $40 million tax credit. Marvel Studios is a big name movie industry that could perform
even better. By moving to Cleveland, Marvel will increase production while saving money.
Producing movies will be better for everyone as jobs and money will be created in Cleveland while
Marvel continues to produce top notch movies. In the end, this criterion is the most important
because the tax credit gives the filming producers the incentive to come to Cleveland.
Criteria 2: Cleveland s Access to Capital/Resources
Different companies have thrived in moving their headquarters to Cleveland and one of the tech
companies named JumpStart is one of them. Access to capital is one of the reasons why
JumpStart thrived because people were investing in them. Also, Ohio has 150 of the Fortune 500
companies and Cleveland is one of the major cities where these companies belong (Kuhel, 2017).
The Midwest is growing with Cleveland at the center of it, so that is an aspect that Marvel Studios
could thrive in.

The Fashion Design Of Chanel
It has been over a century since Mademoiselle Chanel, determined to reform the concept of
femininity as much in style as in the essence, commissioned the chemist Ernest Beaux to develop
what will become the symbol of international perfumery. Chanel No. 5 is unquestionably the most
legendary ever made fragrance, described as an opera of olfactory art. Independent, unconventional,
and provocative, CocoChaneltransformed her unfamiliar name into an obligatory reference point
for fashion design of the twentieth. As an icon of female strength, she translates the complexity and
elegance that characterize the woman, with the creation of what would become the scent par
excellence. Her way of conceiving the perfumeis peculiar. When asked where to put the perfume
she replies: A woman should wear a fragrance wherever she expects to be kissed ( A Woman ). Coco
also launches what turned out, according to the instructions of the designer, had to embody a
concept of femininity timeless, unique, and fascinating. The avant garde idea of Chanel breaks
every scheme imagining her fragrance for a modern and independent woman, far from the
stereotype that envisages she should perfume of roses. Hence, Chanel No. 5 is the first perfume that
rejects the convention and symbolizes the technological and cultural innovation, furthering the
women s empowerment.

instead, as somewhat critical. As he prepares psychologically for death, he briefly toys with the idea
of the existence of the soul and the afterlife but rejects that possibility. In calm, he informs his
daughter, Janet, about details concerning his house.
Moreover, in both stories, the characters commit some mistakes in their lives. In How I Met My
Husband , Munro shows that Edie tells the story of her past and present life and how she realizes

she seems superiority around Mrs. Peebles who feels tired of being a wife and a mother. Edie

The Expectations For A Nursing Home
Nursing homes are places where people go who either can no longer care for themselves or
never were really able to without special professional care. With this being said, the expectations
for nursing homes are set high because no one wants their loved one to be left alone in a place far
from home that isn t healthy for them. My visit to The Renaissance wasn t at all like I expected it
to be. The expectations for a nursing homeshould be clean, in a safe and quiet area, and also I
think it should have the some of the best nurses working for them. As I was walking outside
looking at the building before I walked in I can tell that everything is very well kept to maintain
a good appearance to the outsiders. Then I walked in to speak with the receptionist for the
visitors pass, the lobby looked very nice, the smell was amazing, and everything was very
organized and clean. There was only one flaw about the lobby; the receptionist was on the phone
the whole time I was trying to speak to her about the work there. Usually, there s an exception
when the lady behind the desk answers the phone for a customer but she obviously had to have
been speaking with a friend or family member because of the way she spoke to them. This was
extremely rude and inappropriate.
I received my visitor s pass and made my way to the other door to where everyone is. The first
thing the hits you when your open the door is the smell. This smell was very bad; it was a smell of
urine and bowel movements.

Why Canada Should Fund The Military
The society one lives in today is controlled by the flow of money. The use of wealth dictates the
entire world, and as a result, power, success, and improvement come with the logical and thoughtful
control of money. So why does Canada strive for success if the government can t cut funds towards
useless motions? The Canadian government should fund the military less. As of 2016, the
Canadian government spent $19 billion, roughly 1.35% of Canadas total GDP funding the military.
Recent political debate has run into this topic: is spending $19 billion on the Canadian military
logical? The disposition of this argument held in this essay believes it is not, and subsequently
believes significant cuts in the military s budget need to be made. The reason... Show more content

Higher priority motions than the military need funding. A first example of a motion that has a
higher priority need for funding than the military is the economic stability of the Canadian
government. As shown in the previous paragraph, Canadian economy is struggling and extremely
vulnerable. To ensure a stable life for Canadian citizens, the government should take the
responsibility to take care of its citizens, hence, funding the Canadian military less. A second
motion that would use military funds more efficiently is the funding of environmental
preservation. Due to the large quantities of CO2 being released into the atmosphere at an
exponential, and thus, alarming rate, the average global temperature is rising. Scientists say that
if the current release of carbon keeps up, dramatic effects such as more droughts and heat waves,
a massive rise in sea levels and more intense hurricanes are impossible to avoid. The Canadian
government cannot ignore the fact that the country s current path is headed for disaster, and money
needs to be directed towards this motion before it s too late. A final example of a motion that is far
more urgent than the funding of the Canadian military is funding the poor. Regardless of efforts
Canada has tried to minimize poverty rates, huge amounts of people are still stuck with low income.
4.9 million people are categorized as poor in Canada, 3 million of which are children. It is
irresponsible of the Canadian government to use money ineffectively when so many people are
barely hanging onto their prosperity. In summary, motions such as ensuring economic stability,
ensuring environmental preservation and funding the poor, which are far more urgent than that the
military, need

Integumentary System Lab Report
Several tests were conducted on the patient to test her body systems; the systems tested were the
integumentary, nervous, musculoskeletal, endocrine, digestive, respiratory, cardiovascular,
immune, urinary, and reproductive. While not all tests were directed at each system individually,
the results recorded give an indication of performance and can be looked at in more detail. The
Integumentary system was tested in the Calories in, Calories out module, the my Flexibility test,
and the Germs module. While evaluating this experiment, data recorded shows the patient is not
taking in enough fruits and vegetables. Insufficient intake of these food groups can play a part in

The skin is composed of the epidermis and dermis. The epidermis, being superficial skin, while
the dermis is the tissue layer underneath that supports the epidermis. Collagen and elastic fibers
are contained in the dermis to give the skin strength and elasticity. Collagen fibers are very
strong and resist stretching, but can be easily bent or twisted. Elastic fibers permit stretching
and then recoil to their original length. The elastic fibers provide flexibility, and the collagen
fibers limit that flexibility to prevent damage to the tissue. Environmental factors or physical
changes can affect the skin s strength and elasticity. The distortion of the dermis that occurs
over the abdomen during pregnancy or after substantial weight gain can exceed the elastic limits
of the skin. The resulting damage to the dermis prevents recoiling to its original size after
delivery or weight loss. Most of the collagen and elastic fibers at any location are arranged in
parallel bundles oriented to resist the forces applied to the skin during normal movement. These
bundles in the skin result in patterns called cleavage lines (The Integumentary System, 2015).
When the patient pushed the bar down during the experiment to understand the patient s ability
to stretch, the cleavage lines on the patient s skin acted upon the movement to bent downwards.
Although, if the patient were to have had a physical change in the skin such as an injury, weight
gain, or weight loss it could affect the patient s ability to bend all the way to the ground. A cut
parallel to a cleavage line will usually remain closed and heal with little scaring. A cut at right
angles to the cleavage line will be pulled open severed elastic fibers recoil, resulting in greater
scaring. For these reasons, surgeons choose to make small incisions parallel to cleavage lines (The

Essay about Journey Of The Magi
T.S. Eliot s Journey of the Magi
This Christmas poem is about the Epiphany and was created the very year of Eliot s conversion to
Christianity (Fleisner, 66). Therefore the theme of religion is an important one if we are to analyse
the poem correctly. In the book of Ephesians in the Bible, Paul describes the rebirth of the world
upon Christ s death, emphasising the Ephesians new life (2:4 5). This theme of death and rebirth is
present in the poem Journey of the Magi, which, I will argue, is structurally and internally divided
into three stages; corresponding to the Sacrament of Penance: contrition (guilt), confession and
satisfaction.
To understand this poem, one has to understand the impact that Christ had on the World. At the time

In keeping with the first stanza which elaborates the difficulties of the journey, Eliot does not depict
the primary aspect of satisfaction (the fulfilment of penance) in stanza two, but rather the secondary
aspect, which, according to the Oxford Bible Dictionary is a amp;quot;medicinal
purpose...[assisting] the penitent to resist relapse into the same kind of sin in the future. amp;quot;
Thus, after their amp;quot;hard time, amp;quot; the Magi arrive at dawn in a amp;quot;temperate
valley,/ Wet amp;quot; and amp;quot;smelling of vegetation amp;quot; (lines 21 22), symbolic of
the new life attained from their penance. Apart from this, it is interesting to mention Eliot s
wonderful imagery of the amp;quot;three trees on the low sky, amp;quot; (line24) not only
representing the Magi, but also the three crosses of the Crucifixion, as line 27 suggests, of the
Roman soldiers dicing for Jesus robe and the amp;quot;old white horse, amp;quot; (line 25)
galloping madly away, could represent Judas, and the silver he was paid for betraying Jesus.
However, the white horse could subsequently be associated with death, evoking images of the
Crucifixion and the great disaster that event was for Jesus followers.
The second stage of the Sacrament, the actual confession, takes place in the final stanza when the
narrator starts his confession to the

Abortion Should NOT Be Legal In The United States
With the presidential election being over and the White House along with the Congress having a
big shift from democratic control to Republican control now we the people bring up questions such
as what s going to happen with gun control now, what about the affordable care act, will gay
marriage stay legal, and finally what about abortion. With new laws that have come through that
limit the time period in which a woman can get an abortion some people may wonder if it will
stay legal much longer especially for such a strong republican government that we have right now
they will not waste time trying to get as much done as I can while there is a strong republican
party in the capital. However with abortion is it such a bad thing that we make that illegal in this
great country.
Now I know with your first argument that it s a mother s choice it s her choice of her body she
is the one who has control she is the parent of whatever is inside of her. The statements maybe
true but if only for certain things like for example if the child wants to jump all over their mother
their mother can say no it is her body her choice she is in control and she is the parent, but that is it

The father should also have a say in the abortion but that s not all. If the person that is getting the
abortion is under age then it is also up to the parents of not only the mother but also the father
and even then it is about the child and the child should have a chance at a life and if the family
didn t want the baby they could have gave the baby up for adoption yes i know people say that if
you just throw the kid in a home that they will be there forever and not get adopted. Yes sadly
this is true a lot of kids even now don t get adopted but it would give the world more people to feed
it with new ideas.

Death and We Real Cool Essay
Death and We Real Cool
The sluggard s craving will be the death of him, because his hands refuse to work (Proverbs
21:25). The Bible makes a very clear statement in this passage as to how being lazy can be the
cause of one s death. We Real Cool is about seven African American high school dropoutswho want
everybody else to think that they are cool. These teenagers explain how they stay out late playing
pool, fighting, sinning and drinking. Though they think they have everybody else fooled, they
know themselves that the destructive behavior they are taking part in will lead to their death. In We
Real Cool, Gwendolyn Brooks uses denotation and sound devices to suggest that although some
African Americans may often think ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ingenious way Brooks uses denotation in this poem helps explain that although some African
American teenagers may often think of themselves as being cool for dropping out of school,
staying out late, fighting, and drinking they know in actuality that these corrupt things they are
taking part of will lead to a broken, shortened life.
Brooks uses sound devices to suggest that although some African Americans may often think of
themselves as being cool for dropping out of school, which gives them time to engage in sinful
activities will inevitably result in a broken, short life. Brooks uses pauses in the middle of lines
called cesura s to aid in helping the audience see how the brokenness of ideas and sound contributes
to the brokenness felt by these African American teenagers.
We
Lurk late. We
Strike straight.
Here, in lines 5 6, it is obvious when read how the brokenness in the middle of the line contributes
to the meaning of the poem. Brooks also uses run on lines to emphasize in sound the fact that when
African American teenagers decide it is cool to drop out they are beginning a headlong run into
death. The never ending brokenness that is shown by the run on lines gives these misbehaved
teenagers an excuse to sin and

Buzz Aldrin, John Glenn, And Neil Armstrong
Buzz Aldrin, John Glenn, and Neil Armstrong have all made a huge impact on space exploration
and astronomical advancements in the world. With the help of these three men, the United States
gained knowledge about space exploration and rockets. These three astronauts advanced America
as a nation because they were pioneers in an unexplored place. The advancements from John
Glenn, Neil Armstrong, and Buzz Aldrin all helped America in the Space Race in the late 20th
century. John Glenn was born on July 18, 1921 in Cambridge, Ohio. After he graduated, in 1942
he enlisted in the Naval Aviation Cadet Program thus joining WWII. He flew 59 combat missions
during his time in the war. He later became an astronaut for NASA, and on February 20th, 1962,...

Root Cellar Theodore Roethke Analysis
Theodore Roethke s poem Root Cellar has one stanza, and eleven lines total. Upon first reading
the title, I admit that it doesn t strike me as very original. This poem can very well be a
description of the author s cellar; a snapshot of an event being held in said cellar. The author
begins with telling us that nothing would sleep in [the] cellar . At first I pondered why the
author would put that part in at the very beginning, but as I read on I found that the beginning
was the correct placement; it pulled the reader (me) in, and had me asking, Why wouldn t
anything sleep down there? Was it hot? Musty? Dark? The author describes the cellar as dark, and
uses similes, dank as a ditch and, roots ripe as old bait to describe the... Show more content on

They then go on to describe the rotting roots, the decomposing leaves, the lime, etc. to further
the feeling of disgust when one thinks of such a place. The last two lines threw me for a loop
however. Nothing would give up life: Even the dirt kept breathing a small breath. Suddenly, my
thoughts of disgust transformed to more positive ones. Instead of thinking, Why would anyone
allow something to become so disgusting? , I think about how the leaves and the roots refused
to go away. The shoots continued to hang, low and in the way; the leaves and roots continued to
make their presence known by giving off the strong smell of decomposing matter. After reading
the poem, I m still not 100% sure on what the theme is. There was a shift from negative to
positive in the last three lines, and lots of imagery. Even then the poem still comes across as
abstract and slightly vague. The author could be describing their life; maybe the run down cellar
and decaying roots are representations of an unhappy or dysfunctional childhood. Maybe, in
writing this, they are accepting that those memories will never go away, but they don t define who
they are. Or maybe the author is describing a time when they went to get something from their
cellar, and realized how disgusting it was. As always, it s whatever the reader wants it to

seems perfect, but the woman still finds herself a bit depressed. Her husband chose to change

Essay on Satires in We and Master and Margarita
During Russia s transition to communism in the early 20th century, conflict and unease

Zamyatin starts the book with D 503 excitedly explaining his current project, the INTEGRAL, and
why exactly it and his records are so important. On page 3 for instance, D 503 quotes the newspaper
s morning announcement:
A thousand years ago your heroic forebears subjugated the whole of planet Earth to the power of
OneState. It is for you to accomplish an even more glorious feat: by means of the glass, the
electric, the fire breathing INTEGRAL to integrate the indefinite equation of the universe. It is for
you to place the beneficial yoke of reason round the necks of the unknown beings who inhabit other
planets still living, it may be, in the primitive state known as freedom. If they will not understand
that we are bringing them a mathematically infallible happiness, we shall be obliged to force them
to be happy.
This state of mind can certainly be compared to the very early days of the revolution, which
Zamyatin involved himself quite willingly, before the Bolsheviks and Mensheviks split and began
to fight one another. When they fought as a group against the tsar and aristocracy, they were
adamant that everyone should be like them, should

  • 2. Biopure Case Summary Biopure Case Intro This case is on Biopure Corporation, a privately owned biopharmaceutical firm, competing in emerging field of blood substitutes with two new products: Hemopure for the human market and Oxyglobin for the animal market. The United States Food and Drug Administration approved Oxyglobin on February 5, 1998. The approval of Hemopure is not expected until late 1999 or early 2000. The company must decide whether to release Oxyglobin immediately or to wait until Hemopure has established itself in the marketplace. The key protagonist is Carl Rausch, the president and CEO of Biopure. When proposing actions or solutions, Carl will need to convince the executives of the company, including Dr. Ted Jacobs and Andrew (Andy) Write. Ted, the vice president for Human Clinical Trials, thinks Biopure should wait to release Oxyglobin. Andy, the vice president of Veterinary Products, thinks the company should release Oxyglobin immediately.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One issue is that the animal market is smaller and more price sensitive than the human market, so Oxyglobin will sell at lower prices. If Oxyglobin is released before Hemopure, it might create an unrealistic price expectation for Hemopure because the two products are very similar in physical properties and appearance. Another issue is that Biopure does not have experience releasing new products and one of its competitors in the human market, Baxter International, has the experience. A third issue is that the stakeholders of the company want the company to go public in the near future and the decision could impact the success the initial public ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since 2014, Russia and Ukraine have battled over the territory of Crimea, an area in eastern Ukraine stocked with large amounts of gas and oil. Despite Crimea being in Ukrainian territory, Russia has invaded the region and claimed it as their own. Although, this conflict in Crimea may be rather new, Ukraine and Russia share a deep and complex history. In order to study the crisis occurring in Crimea, it is important to look at not only the problem at hand but also the history, motives, perspectives, and solutions. • 9. Mealworms Lab Report Zophobas morio Preference between a vanilla or coffee abstract Tylar Lauby Tuesdays at 6pm 23 September 2014 Abstract Zophobas morio, also known as mealworms, is the larva of the beetles called tenebrionid beetles. These beetles have a tendency of mainly eating grass and sticks, and they also tend to burrow. This lab study is to find out if the Z. morio prefer the smell of coffee abstract or the sweet vanilla abstract. The way we did this study was by taking a habitat with oats in it and see what side the mealworms would prefer (the coffee side or the vanilla side). My conclusion of what side the mealworms preferred is the vanilla abstract over the coffee. This might have been so because they may have liked the sweeter smell ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The mealworms seemed to have preferred the side with vanilla more than coffee. In the scientific method you have several steps that take place. These steps include observe, develop questions, test, collect information, analyze the findings, form conclusions, share results, and finally conduct more research (Schiff, 2015). We have done all of these besides conduct more research. More research needs to be done in order to find out more accurately if these test findings are accurate. I question my findings because the abstracts are both human creations making me wonder why they would go to either or if they had the diet that they do. After finding information about the mealworms I would have changed my hypothesis to them wanting to go over to the coffee abstract more. This is because it s more of a natural food and it isn t has sweet smelling as that of vanilla abstract. The test results surprised me when after the first test. This is because I figured the mealworms would go to vanilla because of the sweeter smell. But surprisingly they went to the coffee side more. The second and third test the mealworms went more of where I originally thought. I figured that all three of the test would be more like the last test was like. Mealworms can be a pest in a house. I will build a great, great wall on our southern border, and I will make Mexico pay for that wall. Mark my words. Is this what we want the next president of the United States to do? I believe we should stop Donald Trumpfrom being able to do this and choose to vote for Hillary Clinton. First off, Donald Trump is a businessman not a politician. He treats all people of color as if they are immigrants or terrorists. Trump says he wants Americans to feel safe from immigrants, but he really wants america to be a white only country. Treating woman with no respect is not what we want for our future. If he becomes president he wants to end Obama s two illegal executive amnesties. • 15. The Era Of The Baroque Era According to Greenberg (2009), the Baroque era is estimated to be the time period spanning from 1600 until 1750. The year of Sebastian Bach s death, 1750 which is notably and associatively used as a timeline reference that ends this overly extravagant period of creativity. This timespan became an era of expressive exuberance of primal human emotions as secularization, the study of scientific reasoning and intellectual rationale characterized the societal environment. Religion no longer dominated and controlled the subject matter and stylization of artistic expression, yet it did not disappear, it merely stepped into the background. The Classical era is estimated to be the time period spanning from 1750 until 1827. Similarly 1827, the year of Beethoven s death is used to mark the ending of another era. Within this timespan, society transitioned from overly ornate to a more defined sophisticated culture with the introduction of the Enlightenment 1730 1780. The Enlightenment s ideals for the betterment of mankind gave rise to Cosmopolitanism and an international blurring of musical lines. The Causes of Sleep Deprivation In Western cultures, the biggest cause of sleep deprivation is stress mostly as a result of being sick, overworking and shift working, drugs, or examinations (Pinel, 2014). Sleep loss can lead to impairment in decision making. Two studies have been conducted that look at twenty four hours of sleep deprivation and focus on the effect it has on making complex decisions. Essentially, what is the effect of total sleep deprivationin decision making? In 2009, David Schyner and his colleagues had the opportunity to subject fifteen participants to a total of twenty four hours of sleep deprivation. They set up their experiment by asking participants to make a decision between two choices and then again between three choices after a day of sleep loss. Researchers found that participants had a decreased ability to make integrative decisions between two choices, and the three choice tasks were significantly harder to make more so than the two choice task. MRIs of the participants showed an overall decrease in five regions of the brainin of task specific activity versus a full night s rest. Affected brain areas were the superior parietal lobe, which functions in spatial orientation; the superior frontal gyrus and the middle frontal gyrus, which function in self awareness in coordination with senses and processing higher information, respectively; the orbital frontal, the cognitive aspect of processing decision making; and the inferior and medial polar frontal, which operates in ... Two of my favorite shows on television are Scandal and Empire. I now learned that those shows are bad for black American community. Those show the black community in a negative light. For example empire, the show is about a black drug dealer who got out of the ghetto and became a multi millionaire and his wife at the time took the plea for him and went to jail for sixteen so he could become what he is. His three sons are all broken. Andre, the oldest went to an Ivy League college and is now working in the empire but he is messed up, he has bipolar disorder and his father never showed him love, the middle child Jamal is gay and you know most people in the black community don t accept that so his father don t respect him, he have daddy issues and the youngest one Hakeem, is messed up also because he has mommy issues because cookie went to jail and never really took care him because she was behind bars. Cookie is a strong loyal woman and her money and power hungry. She is full of attitude. Everyone loves her. Basically the show is just full of black stereotypes. Beaches are some of the most romanticized places on the planet, for good reason; however, the encroachment of humans onto beach and coastal habitats has resulted in several negative outcomes. At Santa Monica State Beach (and adjoining pier), one of the most popular and polluted beaches in California, the impacts of urban development, industry, and other man made problems have caused mass pollution in the surrounding environment. The effects this pollution has on the coastal wildlife, water quality, and human health are catastrophic to the ecology and natural habitat of the beach. The beach began to decline in the early twentieth century with the construction of the Santa MonicaPier in 1909 after sixteen weeks of construction that on its own resulted in many tons of concrete being poured into Santa Monica Bay (City of Santa Monica, 2015). Over the next few decades land developers, and beach goers alike contributed a toxic combination of chemicals, bacteria, and trash that has resulted in Santa Monica Bay having several dead zones (Heal the Bay, 2015), which devastate the marine life population. Their writing techniques and themes in their poetry allow them to stand out amongst other poets at the time. With the unique aspects and images these poets write about, they distinguish the similarities between themselves and contain different intensities in their poetry. While Li Po has a more relaxed tone to his poetry, Tu Fu deals with the serious aspects of life such as war, poverty, and suffering. It contains more creation, tu tsao, and his writing styles have a modern twist to them. He also brought the chin t i form to popularity, making it a poetic statement. One characteristic of Tu Fu poems is that he incorporates and parallels two totally different topics together. For example, in his poem River Stop Tu Fu parallels the river and clouds to his heart and his mind. Rivers flow my heart doesn t try to keep up; clouds remain slow as my imagination. • 43. Why Canada Should Fund The Military The society one lives in today is controlled by the flow of money. The use of wealth dictates the entire world, and as a result, power, success, and improvement come with the logical and thoughtful control of money. So why does Canada strive for success if the government can t cut funds towards useless motions? The Canadian government should fund the military less. As of 2016, the Canadian government spent $19 billion, roughly 1.35% of Canadas total GDP funding the military. Recent political debate has run into this topic: is spending $19 billion on the Canadian military logical? The disposition of this argument held in this essay believes it is not, and subsequently believes significant cuts in the military s budget need to be made. The reason... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Higher priority motions than the military need funding. A first example of a motion that has a higher priority need for funding than the military is the economic stability of the Canadian government. As shown in the previous paragraph, Canadian economy is struggling and extremely vulnerable. To ensure a stable life for Canadian citizens, the government should take the responsibility to take care of its citizens, hence, funding the Canadian military less. A second motion that would use military funds more efficiently is the funding of environmental preservation. Due to the large quantities of CO2 being released into the atmosphere at an exponential, and thus, alarming rate, the average global temperature is rising. Scientists say that if the current release of carbon keeps up, dramatic effects such as more droughts and heat waves, a massive rise in sea levels and more intense hurricanes are impossible to avoid. The Canadian government cannot ignore the fact that the country s current path is headed for disaster, and money needs to be directed towards this motion before it s too late. A final example of a motion that is far more urgent than the funding of the Canadian military is funding the poor. Regardless of efforts Canada has tried to minimize poverty rates, huge amounts of people are still stuck with low income. 4.9 million people are categorized as poor in Canada, 3 million of which are children. It is irresponsible of the Canadian government to use money ineffectively when so many people are barely hanging onto their prosperity. In summary, motions such as ensuring economic stability, ensuring environmental preservation and funding the poor, which are far more urgent than that the military, need ... The skin is composed of the epidermis and dermis. The epidermis, being superficial skin, while the dermis is the tissue layer underneath that supports the epidermis. Collagen and elastic fibers are contained in the dermis to give the skin strength and elasticity. Collagen fibers are very strong and resist stretching, but can be easily bent or twisted. Elastic fibers permit stretching and then recoil to their original length. The elastic fibers provide flexibility, and the collagen fibers limit that flexibility to prevent damage to the tissue. Environmental factors or physical changes can affect the skin s strength and elasticity. The distortion of the dermis that occurs over the abdomen during pregnancy or after substantial weight gain can exceed the elastic limits of the skin. The resulting damage to the dermis prevents recoiling to its original size after delivery or weight loss. Most of the collagen and elastic fibers at any location are arranged in parallel bundles oriented to resist the forces applied to the skin during normal movement. These bundles in the skin result in patterns called cleavage lines (The Integumentary System, 2015). When the patient pushed the bar down during the experiment to understand the patient s ability to stretch, the cleavage lines on the patient s skin acted upon the movement to bent downwards. Although, if the patient were to have had a physical change in the skin such as an injury, weight gain, or weight loss it could affect the patient s ability to bend all the way to the ground. A cut parallel to a cleavage line will usually remain closed and heal with little scaring. A cut at right angles to the cleavage line will be pulled open severed elastic fibers recoil, resulting in greater scaring. Therefore the theme of religion is an important one if we are to analyse the poem correctly. In the book of Ephesians in the Bible, Paul describes the rebirth of the world upon Christ s death, emphasising the Ephesians new life (2:4 5). This theme of death and rebirth is present in the poem Journey of the Magi, which, I will argue, is structurally and internally divided into three stages; corresponding to the Sacrament of Penance: contrition (guilt), confession and satisfaction. The author begins with telling us that nothing would sleep in [the] cellar . Instead of thinking, Why would anyone allow something to become so disgusting? , I think about how the leaves and the roots refused to go away. The shoots continued to hang, low and in the way; the leaves and roots continued to make their presence known by giving off the strong smell of decomposing matter. After reading the poem, I m still not 100% sure on what the theme is. There was a shift from negative to positive in the last three lines, and lots of imagery. Even then the poem still comes across as abstract and slightly vague. The author could be describing their life; maybe the run down cellar and decaying roots are representations of an unhappy or dysfunctional childhood. Maybe, in writing this, they are accepting that those memories will never go away, but they don t define who they are.
