Marketers, Rev Your Engines: Facebook Topic Data is Available Now DataSift
Marketers who want their message to stand out from the noise today are seriously challenged. To create truly compelling content that resonates with the right audience, you need a serious edge. Marketers have had great insights into paid Facebook content and corporate-owned pages, but never what people share and engage with directly in their news feeds. How should marketers today curate effective content for their relevant audience?
With insights from Facebook topic data you can get the edge you need
Topic data is what people share and engage with directly in their Facebook news feeds, and for the first time it is now available through a number of DataSift certified social companies and agencies listed on our partner portal. This is the first time that you as a marketer or agency can define a topic (your brand, competitors, events, etc.) and understand the audience around that topic.
Jason Rose, DataSift's SVP Marketing, will host our next live webinar where brand marketers and agencies will learn:
How Facebook topic data enables you to understand more about your target audience
About new strategies to reach targeted demographics that we revealed for a major automotive launch using analyzing topic data
How you can be one of the first to begin leveraging topic data from Facebook’s 1.44 Billion monthly active users

The new era of bots, multi-channel messaging solutions, dynamic routing and a...Nicola Junior Vitto
We are entering a new era where it seems that everything can be managed via chatbots (instead of apps full of “messy” UIs).
Messaging is becoming “liquid”, channels are increasing, for P2P messages SMS are falling down while Whatsapp and other IMs surpassed every other communication channel in history.
What will be a possible future? How can we organize and aggregate everything, solving the complexity and gaining momentum from all the opportunities?
A quick look at two important, relevant and intertwined tools of strategic brand management: brand architecture and brand positioning.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

In his public lecture, Christian Timmerer provides insights into the fascinating history of video streaming, starting from its humble beginnings before YouTube to the groundbreaking technologies that now dominate platforms like Netflix and ORF ON. Timmerer also presents provocative contributions of his own that have significantly influenced the industry. Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

details of the event.
The traffic picked up
just after RIM
announced the news
on the 9pm Sunday
ECT (which is 2am
Monday UCT, as
shown on the plot). The
high level of interest
lasts for an hour or so,
then declines over

Increasing time intervals to

The RIM stock opens on
Monday significantly below
the Friday close price level
and keep falling in the first
20 min. It is rather
predictable, considering the
nature of the news and the
sentiment of comments
from previous evening.
However, the sentiment of
social media content
switches to positive value
around 14:45(09:45 ECT),
despite price still falling.
5 min latter the stock price
reaches the support level at
15.88. This level is tested
again after 15:20 and
holds, as the sentiment of
social media content
remain positive.

Data aggregation
Conclusion:
By analysing a flow of the social media content we gain two interesting pieces of information.
1. We can see immediately what is the crowd reaction for the news.
a) The significance of the news event is proportional to the spike of traffic generated.
b) The difference between positive and negative sentiment indicates if the reaction to the news is
positive, negative or indifferent.
2. An increase of positive sentiment preceded the moment when a stock price had stopped falling and reached
a support level.
a) Did the market decide at this point, that the price has been discounted enough? Certainly the
sentiment of the social media content could suggest so.
b) Looking at the Monday morning chart we can see that the sentiment level of social media content
being an interesting indicator showing emotions of the crowd. Furthermore, this information can be
traced using very short time frames (even 5 min).

The social media content can be
used as an indicator of Dow
Jones Industrial Average price.
In this example rapid increase in
traffic associated with a negative
sentiment precedes directly a
drop in price by 50 points.
