Problem Solving

Problem Solving-Equipment
There are a number of different problems that could occur with the
equipment in my FMP. For example
1. My camera could break.
2. My camera could go missing.
3. My camera could run out of battery.
4. My camera could run out of memory space.
5. My microphone could break or get stolen.
6. My microphone could run out of memory space.
Problem Solving-Equipment
There are ways to prepare for these problems should they ever
happen. For example:
1. Bring backup camera
2. Keep camera on me at all times and never leave it
3. Bring charger and battery and charge battery camera before
4. Clear any unneeded videos and bring backup memory card
5. Keep an eye on microphone and bring spare
6. Use spare microphone for extra space.
Problem Solving-Equipment
What would be the impacts of these problems?
• Without a camera I will be unable to film my project. (Using my
phone is an option but I plan to use my video camera).
• If I don’t have enough memory space I won’t be able to take enough
footage I need to film my project.
• Without a working microphone I will be limited to camera
microphones and will not be able to get the best audio quality I can
get.
Problem Solving-Production
Production(or filming) is arguably the most important part of filming so
any potential problems, whether it is equipment related or not, should
definitely be taken into consideration. Possible problems are:
1. Don’t get permission to be able to film in certain areas.
2. College is closed, meaning other people can’t come in.
3. There is no equipment available to book.
Problem Solving-Production
However we can be prepared for these possible scenarios by following
these guidelines:
1. Make sure you have permission from teachers and/or staff to film in
college.
2. Try and make the project about working from home.
3. Use own equipment if possible.
Problem Solving-Production
These problems need back-up solutions because if they are left unattended it
could have a problematic effect on my project. These are the problems they
could cause:
1. Without permission I will have nowhere to film or will be forced to film in
a separate unsuitable location.
2. I will be unable to film the type of documentary I want and will have to
restart my concept from scratch.
3. Without the proper equipment I won’t be able to make any of what I
want to look or sound good enough.
Problem Solving-Lighting
Lighting is very important to any project, not just mine. Without the lighting
my project will look very dim and not interesting to look at. Important details
will not be as visible as they should be, the film also won’t be as pleasant or
pleasing to look at. There are three possible ways to fix this problem:
• Book lighting equipment
• Bring light from home
• Use natural lighting (maybe adjust with editing software during post)
Problem Solving-Ability
I have a range of abilities when it comes to filmmaking. I am able to edit the
project on my own devices. I can also work as a cameraman for certain
scenes where I am not in the frame or the scene at all.
For the audio I can make the camera man hold the microphone in his pocket
whilst we are filming the scene.
I can place the light in one part of the room for the best lighting whilst the
cameraman can stand next to it so the scene looks well lit and professionally
shot.
Problem Solving-Theoretical
1. The weather conditions could be to poor or unsuitable to film
outside.
2. Actors and crew might not be able to make it into college on the
day of filming.
3. Actors or crew might get injured or fall ill on set.
4. Actors could forget their line(s).
5. Actors could fall out with each other on set and refuse to film the
scene.
6. Someone could come in and interrupt the scene.
7. The room we film in could be too noisy.
Problem Solving-Theoretical
1. With poor weather conditions I will not be able to film any outside
scenes I had planned in the script.
2. I will be left stranded and will have to try and film the scene by myself
which would be impossible.
3. They could become too ill to film a scene or could have to be escorted to
the hospital or out the building.
4. If the actors don’t know their lines they will not know what to say in the
scene.
5. Without the actors getting along the chemistry between the actors will
not come across as real or authentic.
6. The scene will be ruined and not the way I want it to be.
7. It will be hard to hear what the actors are saying.
Problem Solving-Theoretical
1. To avoid a problem with the weather when filming, I will write most, if not, all of the
scenes to be set inside the building.
2. Find backup actors or make the actors ensure that they will be able to make it to
filming on that day.
3. Hold filming until they get better or replace them with another actor. Do a health and
safety check on the set to ensure the safety of the actors before filming.
4. To help the actors remember their lines I will provide them with a script behind behind
the scenes.
5. Encourage the actors to spend time with each other so they can get to know each
other before filming.
6. Film in classrooms or other private private parts of college where no one will come.
7. Film in quiet rooms where there are not many people.
Problem Solving-Post Production
1. I Might not have enough storage on my computer or device to store
footage for product.
2. All or my work could be lost or deleted.
3. My computer or device could break.
4. Footage could be unsuitable to use in film.
5. Device could get broken or stolen.
All these problems will have a similar impact on my essay. I will not be
able to edit my project either properly or at all. It is very important that
I find a way to prevent any of these problems from happening.
Problem Solving-Post Production
There are ways to prevent these problems from happening and protect my
project from a faulty post-production.
1. For enough space on my device for the footage, create storage on device
by clearing out unneeded content(photos, videos, etc.).
2. I could back up work on memory stick, iCloud or One-drive so it isn’t lost.
3. I should have work saved on a separate device with editing software so I
am still able to edit.
4. I will shoot the footage more than once to make sure there is a take that
is suitable to use.
5. In the event that my device is stolen or too broken to use, I will ensure I
have backed my work up to a separate device as well as One-drive or
memory stick in order to protect the footage.

I will be left stranded and will have to try and film the scene by myself which would be impossible. 3. They could become too ill to film a scene or could have to be escorted to the hospital or out the building. 4. If the actors don’t know their lines they will not know what to say in the scene. 5. Without the actors getting along the chemistry between the actors will not come across as real or authentic. 6. The scene will be ruined and not the way I want it to be. 7. It will be hard to hear what the actors are saying.
  • 12. Problem Solving-Theoretical 1. To avoid a problem with the weather when filming, I will write most, if not, all of the scenes to be set inside the building. 2. Find backup actors or make the actors ensure that they will be able to make it to filming on that day. 3. Hold filming until they get better or replace them with another actor. Do a health and safety check on the set to ensure the safety of the actors before filming. 4. To help the actors remember their lines I will provide them with a script behind behind the scenes. 5. Encourage the actors to spend time with each other so they can get to know each other before filming. 6. Film in classrooms or other private private parts of college where no one will come. 7. Film in quiet rooms where there are not many people.
  • 13. Problem Solving-Post Production 1. I Might not have enough storage on my computer or device to store footage for product. 2. All or my work could be lost or deleted. 3. My computer or device could break. 4. Footage could be unsuitable to use in film. 5. Device could get broken or stolen. All these problems will have a similar impact on my essay. I will not be able to edit my project either properly or at all. It is very important that I find a way to prevent any of these problems from happening.
  • 14. Problem Solving-Post Production There are ways to prevent these problems from happening and protect my project from a faulty post-production. 1. For enough space on my device for the footage, create storage on device by clearing out unneeded content(photos, videos, etc.). 2. I could back up work on memory stick, iCloud or One-drive so it isn’t lost. 3. I should have work saved on a separate device with editing software so I am still able to edit. 4. I will shoot the footage more than once to make sure there is a take that is suitable to use. 5. In the event that my device is stolen or too broken to use, I will ensure I have backed my work up to a separate device as well as One-drive or memory stick in order to protect the footage.
