Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2. Contingency Plan
Potential
Problem
Effect on Production Control/mitigation
Filming
outside
All of my film will be filmed outdoors
this means the weather will have a
big impact on if I can film. If it is
raining, I won't be able to film
because the rain could damage the
equipment.
To try and minimise the chances of bad
weather while filming I will check the
weather forecast the day before we are
set to shoot and if it is raining the
morning of, I will cancel filming and
reschedule.
Unwanted
noise
Filming outside means there will be
a lot of unwanted noise like cars,
people, trees rustling and wildlife
because of this I will have to edit out
all of the unwanted noise.
There will be no dialogue in the movie
so I will be able to easily edit out all the
unwanted sound and put in the correct
sound effects.
actors My actor could drop out last
minute.
If my actor drops out, I can reschedule
to a day that they can make it to or
make sure I have someone who can take
their place.
3. Contingency plan
Potential Pro

Effect on Production Control/mitigation
transport We will be filming at my house
and transport there is very
limited because there isn't many
busses, and they stop very early.
I will have to spread filming over a
few days so that we aren't filming too
late, and they can make the bus home
in time or make sure that they can
be driven to and from my house so we
can film as late as we need.
Production
time
how long I have to get everything
done will affect how long I have to
spend on each stage of production.
I will get all the filming out of the way as
soon as possible so I can spend as much
time as I need on editing and
improvements.
Health
and safety
if someone gets hurt/injured during
filming it will impact how long we
have left to film and if we can even
continue filming.
I will make sure there is nothing around
that we can trip over before crew get to
location and I will make sure we have
first aid supplies.
4. Technical Problems
Potential
problem
Effect on Production Control/mitigation
Equipment Equipment might not work so I
won't be able to film on the day
planed.
Test all equipment is working when
I get it and the day before filming
so it's not a surprise on the day and
I can fix/find an alternative to use
or reschedule filming to a day I
have working equipment.
Software I need to use specific software
(Premier Pro) to edit my work so
if I need to do work at home or
the software crashes, I can't do
any work.
I will make sure I get all my work
done in lesson, so I don't have
anything to do at home and restart
the software straight away if it
crashes.
Wi-Fi The wi-fi is very temperamental
in college so sometimes it drops,
and we can't do anything for a
while.
I can try using another computer
because sometimes it's just the
one computer the wi-fi won't work
for or I will have to wait for the wi-
fi to work again.
5. Technical Problems
Potential
problem
Effect on Production Control/mitigation
Power If the batteries in the camera run
out of charge, I can't film any
longer.
I will make sure I have a spare
charged battery or if I don’t have
another battery, I am filming at my
house so I will be able to recharge.
Ability I might not be able to film or edit
things in certain ways if I don't
have the skills/ability to do it the
way I want.
I will conduct experiments so I can
practice different types of shots I
want to do and editing techniques
so I can make it look how I want
before I go into production.
Backing up If I don't backup my work, I could
lose it all and have to restart.
I need to remember and double
check my work is saved at the end
of each lesson.
storage If I run out of storage, I need to
spend time finding a new SD card
or removing some of the things
that have been filmed.
I will check that the SD card is
cleared before I start using it, so I
won't run out of storage.
6. Experiments plan
• I want to practice getting different shots through
windows at different angles, so I know what will
work and look best.
• I will practice and learn to use a stabiliser
because it will make filming my film a lot
easier ang go smoother.
• I want to do some sound effect experiments as
there will be no dialogue in the film just
background noises. So, I want to experiment to
see what items work best to get the sound
I want.
7. Setting up the stabiliser
• The first experiment I did
was learning how to set
up the stabiliser because
I have never used this
piece of equipment
before now. Stephen
showed me how to set it
up, so the camera was
balanced, and he showed
me the basic controls of
the 3rd setting on the
stabiliser.
8. Technique 1
• For the first experiment I did with the stabiliser I used the
third setting where I can move it in all directions to get my
shot in frame. I made my friend walk past a wall in a straight
line so I could track her with the camera. This will be the main
setting I use for my film especially for the moving shot I am
planning.
9. Technique 2
• For the second experiment I did using the stabiliser I used the
first setting which makes the camera spin around while
staying in the same position. I’m not sure if I will use this in
my film but I thought it was something useful to know Incas I
do incorporate this.
10. Technique 3
• The last experiment I did with the stabiliser was using the
second setting that makes the camera only move up and
down. I want to use this specific setting to film the shots from
outside through the window of my room on the second floor
of my house.
11. Sound
• For sound experiments I recorded some different sound for the outdoor
scenes and the creepy noise that you’ll hear at the end of the film.
• For the outdoor sounds I recorded some from the back of my house where
you can hear birds and trees rustling, and I went out to the road to record
cars passing. I did this to see which sounds I liked best but after listening
to them I think I’m going to layer the different sounds together.
• For the creepy sound towards the end of the film I tried using a few
different things till I found something that made a noise I thought sounded
creepy enough. The first way i tried was rustling some paper which just
sounded like static. The other way I made the creepy noise was I shook my
window so it made a weird creaking noise and I thought that worked really
well.
• I have no idea how to get the audios on here
