How To Mark A Book By Mortimer Adler
In How to Mark a Book, Mortimer Adler argues that it is necessary to annotate books. That way, one
is actively reading whereby he/she can articulate the hierarchy of information given. The content of
the article features what it means to truly own a book, provides many strategies for marking up a
book, and states that there are no excuses for marking up a book. Adler articulates that the reader
needs to truly own a book so that he/she can fully understand what he/she is reading. He states that the
only way that one can own a book is not only by purchasing the book so it can be written in, but by
actually writing in it as well. Adler argues that writing in a book assures that the reader is reading
actively. He claims that marking up a book

What Is An Explainer Video Essay
What is an Explainer Video?
An Explainer Video is a marketing technique that uses short videos to teach a skill, explain a product,
or demonstrate a service. These videos range from 2 4 minutes long. They are meant to be fun, light,
and entertaining. The point is to capture an audience s attention. These videos are user friendly. They
might feature catchy songs or phrases that will help the video stick to memory. Explainer videos
feature in advertisements on many streaming services. They are showcased on social media. Explainer
videos will be anywhere they can sell a product or service. They increase the popularity of the site
because most consumers would rather watch a video than read about a product.
The Different Types of Explainer Videos
With any marketing scheme, there are always different formats to obtain the maximum response.
Live Action: This type of Explainer video features real people acting out a scene to sell a product. The
actor might dress a certain way or act a certain way to get their point across. This works best for
companies that are attempting to sell a physical product. This type of advertisement works well for
people oriented services because people relate to the actors in the video.
Animated: This is the most popular Explainer video type. This type of marketing works best for
software and other computer products. They rarely deal with physical items, and stick to more creative
ways to express their products.
The Whiteboard: This type of

A Man Who Indoctrinated A Fascist Regime
No other figure in history can boast the embodiment of infamy than that of Adolf Hitler. A face that
requires no introduction is either one of two things: a reputable individual, or a formidable one. It goes
without saying that Hitler wasn t anything other than the latter. In this essay, I will be investigating the
odyssey of a man who indoctrinated a fascist regime and assumed the position of a dictator for all
time.
Hitler first entered the political arena in 1933, via exploitation of the legislative system, something he
would later dismantle as leader. His appointment as Chancellor by German President, Paul Von
Hindenburg, came as a surprise, after Hindenburg previously refused Hitler s request for the position.
He assumed the role during the political turmoil the country was facing at the time (as a consequence
of the conditions in the 1920s and early 1930s), this corresponded with the approach and policies that
Hitler advocated as leader of the Nazi party. Following the death of President Hindenburg in 1934,
Hitler assumed the role of leader. During this period of transition, he actioned the Enabling Act (23rd
March), giving himself an array of authority, for example: the governing body instated Hitler with a
consecutive four years in power as autocrat, thereby instating a position where he could amend the
constitution as he wished it to be. Hitler abolished the remaining political associations, and by doing
so, ensured his dictatorship over the new totalitarian

Louisana Clean Air Act Essay
For this research paper, I chose to discuss the Louisiana air quality and its effects on the community. I
was raised here in Baker, Louisiana which is north of Baton Rouge. Growing up I noticed something
very striking and odd. We are overly exposed to chemical plants and their outputs. Driving around
Baton Rouge at night and seeing a distant flame I often wonder what it really was. I wonder how this
was affecting the community. How was this affecting our health? Upon doing research, I discovered it
is called upset emissions. Upset emissions are unplanned events which release VOCs into the air. The
Bucket Brigade which is an anti energy group refers to emissions as accidents. Every year they release
an annual report which gives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

1909 when Standard oil of New Jersey choose Baton Rouge for a refinery. It was envision that it
would strengthen the company s domestic market capabilities. Energize LA is Louisiana s fuel and

The Negative Effects Of Marijuana
In today s society, Marijuana has become one of the most widespread illegal drugs. It continues to be
the most abused substance among adolescents. By the time these young people graduate from high
school, more than 40 percent of them will have tried marijuana at least once. The main chemical used
in marijuana that causes addiction and creates the emotional high feeling is called
tetrahydrocannabinol or THC. This chemical is known to encourage the release of dopamine, which
stimulates the area of the brain connected with pleasure, the THC in marijuana can cause many
negative side effects later. The younger the youths, the more damaging it could be for them to use the
marijuana drug. This essay will provide five facts from the videos Messing with Heads, Marijuana and

judgment occurs anytime anyone uses marijuana. It is the same effect as driving a car while

CANADA
Canada is a multi cultural country as it is home to many races and ethnicities. As of 2011, the ethnicity
with the largest number of population is none other than Filipinos. According to www.cic.gc.ca (2012)
Filipinos are in the first place as having the largest population of immigrants who are permanently
residing in Canada. The growth of Filipinos living in Canada has been showing a positive trend, as
there are only 11,011Filipinos in 2002 as compared to the 34,991 permanent Filipino residents in
2011. This would also come as a positive prospect for Jollibee to expand to Canada. Having potential
customers who probably have the same customer base with customers in Philippines would benefit
Jollibee because it might reflect the success Jollibee has in the Philippines. The number of Filipinos in
Canada is another opportunity for Jollibee to deliver a taste of home to Canadian Filipino residents.
In accordance with euromonitor s (2014) research, Canadians have been constantly on the lookout for

North Dallas Forty vs. Any Given Sunday Essay example
Any Given Sunday and North Dallas Forty, made over 25 years apart, are two of the most famous
football movies ever made. Both of these movies focus on an examination of American values as seen
through the lens of a professional sport, both on and off the field. Any Given Sunday and North Dallas
Forty do indeed have many striking similarities. Furthermore, it seems that both movies try to give a
detailed depiction on the corporate mentality of modern day professional football; while at the same
time, still working to deliver a traditional, likeable sports flick. Though there is a large time gap
between the two films, they have similar messages and much in common.

Both films focus on characters struggling to stay successful in professional football and deal with
pressures off the field. In North Dallas Forty, Phil Elliott is in such terrible shape, so in order to get
through a game, it requires drugs, tape, and much padding. He is only able to compete in games when
he is hopped up on painkillers, which are conveniently provided to him by management. His cynicism
and independent spirit is looked upon as troublesome by team coaches. Eventually, the Bulls
management team benches Elliot after manipulating him to help train a fellow teammate. Many
similar things happen in Any Given Sunday. Cap Rooney, an older quarterback struggles to succeed,
as the new owner balks at renewing his contract. However, unlike Elliot, Rooney s coach fights for his
spot on the team and wants him to play for the Sharks. Unfortunately, he ends up getting hurt and is
replaced by a third string rookie quarterback. Just as management in North Dallas Forty gives away
drugs, the doctor in Any Given Sunday also saw nothing wrong with administering drugs to assist
players in making sure they got on the field no matter what.
Both movies demonstrate the fact that the game of football has changed from a true sport into a
business. In its own way, each film shows the passing of older generations and

The Planned Parenthood Debate
The U.S. Senate blocked a bill to defund Planned Parenthood and channel federal dollars to other
health care providers and community health centers that do not perform abortions on Monday.
The bill calling for defunding of Planned Parenthood was introduced by Freshman Senator Joni Ernst,
R Iowa, who ran an anti abortion campaign last year.
The American taxpayer should not be asked to fund an organization like Planned Parenthood that has
shown a sheer disdain for human dignity and complete disregard for women and their babies, she said
on Monday in a floor speech.
The vote on the bill was 53 46, 7 votes short of the 60 votes required to proceed and for debate to open
on the bill. The votes fell mostly along party lines.
Planned Parenthood provides health care services besides abortion like cervical cancer screenings,
contraception, testing for sexually transmitted diseases, and birth control counseling to approximately
2.7 million women a year at over 700 affiliated health centers across the country. It receives more than
$500 million a year in Medicaid reimbursements and $60 million in grants for family planning
services. However, U.S. law prohibits the use of federal funds to perform abortions. Donated fetal

The Virtual Rat Pro Version 3.0 Program By Wadsworth...
Participants These three experiments aim to explore the various aspects associated with extinction
procedures. To facilitate these experiments, we used the Sniffy the virtual rat Pro Version 3.0 program
by Wadsworth Cengage Learning. This program attempts to accurately simulate some of the
psychological processes and behavioral phenomena found in rats. In this program, all of the subjects
are always starved for food, regardless of how much it has eaten. This simplifies the process of
operant conditioning by reducing the amount of time required to simply wait for the virtual rat to be
hungry again.
For the following experiments, 22 virtual rat subjects, each supervised by its own experimenter, were
subjected to operant conditioning techniques, followed by extinction, secondary reinforcement and
spontaneous recovery. Since the same program was used for each of the 22 subjects, all the virtual rats
can be considered to be identical to one another. Additionally, as a result of the food deprivation
programming, all virtual rats are ready for the presentation of food as a reinforcer. Although each
experiment consisted of 22 rats, the rats in experiment three are the same rats that were used in
experiment one. Therefore, the total number of subjects is 44 instead of 66 because the same virtual
rat subjects are used in two of the three experiments. In order to collect and monitor the relevant data,
the program has various windows that display important information. The two

George Pullman And Economic Depression
Economic depression took a big toll on America, causing events like the Panic of 1893 which created
the collapse of railroad overbuilding, which further led to the collapse of many banks. This depression
affected George Pullman s company, causing him to take actions, making more of an impact than he
ever thought. George Pullman was an American engineer and industrialist who founded his company.
He created a community and environment that his workers lived and worked in. His company played a
big role in the labor movement because they were a prime source for transportation. Overtime,
companies grew and continued to grow by opening mines, overflowing the market with minerals such
as silver. Faster construction meant building more railroads so more goods could be shipped. Building
more railroads meant having more transportation and soon enough, the production rate was
significantly lower than the sell rate since companies had more deliveries from the railroads. When
economic depression hit, Pullman had to make some changes that would benefit the company but not
the people of the community. Economic depression sparked conflicts that resulted in the Pullman
Strike. George Pullman failed to create a compromise that would solve the worker s unfair wages,
poor working conditions, and the lack of voice they had, and this resulted in a halt on the labor
movement. Because of economic depression, George Pullman was forced to make changes in order to
keep his company thriving. He then

A Research Project On Colon Cancer
Research Project Outcome
Colon cancer claims the lives of 12 Australians each day and is the second largest cancer killer (1).
Colon cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer in the Australian population after the age of 50. It
is essential that Australian men and women are aware of the aggressiveness and severity of the disease
(2) and the primary preventative methods. The Indigenous Australian population, in comparison to the
non indigenous population, have a higher prevalence of the disease and experience higher mortality
rates (3). Due to the lack of medical resources and awareness, men and women living in rural areas
have an increased risk of developing colon cancer (4). For these reasons, I have decided to conduct an
investigation on the significance, the primary preventative methods and the impact they can have on
the health and awareness of the Australian population.
I conducted my initial research by investigating the internet and books, both of which encompassed
the anatomy of the stomach and allowed me to gather a greater understanding of Colon Cancer. Bowel
cancer is a malignant growth that develops most commonly in the lining of the large bowel. The vast
majority of bowel cancers develop from growths called polyps . Not all polyps become cancerous. The
larger that a polyp grows, the more likely it is to become malignant (cancerous). Polyps can be easily

The Publication of Financial Reports
Over the years, annual reporting has undergone drastic changes. It is becoming increasingly important
as the readers are not limited only within certain geographical boundary but expanding internationally.
With globalization, public listed companies must ensure more transparency and more accurate
information. This has led to publication of their reports on their websites making people all over the
world easy access to their performance. Today not only financial reporting are becoming important
part, but a company has to include non financial reports as well. Yet, needless to say, interest for most
stakeholders in the annual reports have always remained the financial section of the reports. Hence
need for more comprehensive reporting arises. Birth of financial reporting took place when many
people started contributing small amounts of their money towards a common stock to achieve a
common goal. Thus, financial reporting is a sensitive report that can drive the image on success of a
business. It displays soundness of their business in globally competitive business world. Thereby,
determining the choice of investors to invest their capital in various companies. Financial reports are
either guided by the rules and principles of US GAAP or by the accounting standards of IFRS. IFRS
being more flexible comparing to US GAAP, is seen to be increasing in its popularity as accounting
standards adopted by businesses. Nevertheless, their underlying assumptions have been the same. And

Theme Of Cyrano De Bergerac
True to Even the Dead A man true to his word never betrays a friend. Edmond Rostand develops this
in Cyrano de Bergerac through the character Cyrano. Even after Christian dies, Cyrano does not tell
Roxane that it was him writing the love letters. Roxane knows it was Cyrano, yet he continuously
stays true to Christian. Rostand demonstrates the concepts of a true friend never betraying through the
actions of Cyrano when Roxane realizes that he had been writing all of the love letters.
Roxane realizes: And all these fourteen years, he has been the old friend, who came to me to be
amusing.
Cyrano: Roxane!
Roxane: It was you.
Cyrano: No, no, Roxane, no!
Roxane: And I might have known, Everytime that I heard you speak my name!
Cyrano: No It was not I (5.1.248 253)
Even though Roxane realizes that it was Cyrano writing the letters, he never betrays Christian. An
honorable friend will not betray his companion. An honorable man will always keep his word and stay
true to his friend no matter what happens. Rostand coveys this through the Cyrano s tone and actions,

A Little Brief Background On The Family Farm By Sylvia...
Sylvia Bojcvuk, born to Alexander and Albina Bojcvuk on their family farm on January 19th, 1928 in
Ukraine. Little did this young baby girl know she was about to endure a tragic, yet adventurous life
that would impact generations. A little brief background on Ukraine at the time of Sylvia s youth in
1941 Germany and Romania invaded Ukraine changing the country to Romania, then 1944 Soviet
soldier s invaded naming it back to Ukraine, which seems to come full circle to today with the
constant battle of Russia attempting to merge Ukraine into Russia for good. Unfortunately, Soviet
soldiers have a dark history of raping many of the young girls when they invaded Ukraine in 1944.
Sylvia was sixteen at the time and her mother and father hid her in their local farm, this constant
hiding lead to Albina decided they could no longer remain in Ukraine, which is the beginning of
Sylvia Bojcvuk s pilgrimage to a better life. The Bojcvuk family began by taking a train out of
Ukraine, hoping to go South where both Sylvia s older brother and sister currently resided, but the
Soviet soldiers were blocking passage to the South so they had to go west, leaving behind Sylvia s
brother, Adolf, and sister, Eleanor. Unfortunately, Sylvia was never again reunited with her siblings.
Adolf Bojcvuk later died of brain cancer in the 1980 s, and Eleanor Bojcvuk resides in Romania today
in her ninety s. Taking the train west, the Bojcvuk s resided in Austria where Sylvia attended nursing

How Did Napoleon Influence The French Revolution
The French revolution is notably the start of the creation of modern Europe. Within this revolution, the
country experienced a drastic change in power and in government. Along with the French Revolution,
the rise of Napoleon, played a huge role in the changes in Europe economy. Under napoleons rule and

Similar to the American Revolution, the French revolution was influenced by enlightenment ideas
particularly the concepts of popular sovereignty and inalienable rights. With a high percentage of the

wasn t until Russia left the continental system that the French would engage in a full scale battle. This

casualties which would then be considered the Battle of Borodino. Russians set fire to the city, forcing
Napoleons army to starve, due to harsh weather freeze, and die off. This action became the defeat and
end of the Napoleonic Wars. Both the rule of Napoleon and the French Revolution caused great chaos

law in France in modern day. The Modern French government would not have been developed without

Purification Of Purification And Purification
When examining the purification data in Table 4, we can analyze the different methods of purification
of LDH and determine how effective each methods is in order to ultimately purify LDH.
Unfortunately, there are two different definitions of purification: one is have a high end yield of the
protein, while the other is having a high end concentration without any contaminating proteins.
Furthermore, in order to achieve one type of purification, the other one has to be given up. The very
first purification step involved the 65% ammonium sulfate cut that resulted in a highest protein
concentration out of all the purification steps. The protein concentration went up from 3.925mg/ml
from the clarified homogenate to 28.11mg/ml, which is resulted of the pelleting out of the LDH and
reducing the volume from 114mL to 5.7mL. Furthermore, the 65% pellet cut was able to recovery
46% of the LDH, while purifying it by 6.8 fold. Also, this step was able to remove 65% of the total
proteins, while retaining 35% of it. Due to the increased purity and 46% recovery of LDH we can
conclude that most of the removed total protein was non LDH, contaminating protiens. Unfortunately,
since this was only the first purification step, the amount of comtaminating proteins is still fairly high
as depicted in Figure 14, where the 65% cut pellet contains several dark bands besides the one at
35kDa. The second purification step involved the affinity chromatography column that resulted in a

Overview Of The Baron Armand De Valfort
When I opened the door, in front of me, stood the Baron Armand de Valfort. At least, it was the name I
read on the card he handed me with a prompt gesture, unintended to be aggressive, nor demeaning. He
appeared forthright, knowing what he wanted, and his deportment reflected authority and confidence.
The Baron was a middle aged man, and middle could have applied to most aspects of his
physiognomy. He wore gold rimmed spectacles, anchored on the bridge of his strong hooked nose,
below which, shined fleshy lips. The cut of his elegant clothes showed in every couture, the mark of a
rich Paris tailor s hand. You are Captain Walter Morsirisse, n est ce pas? he said, with a flat voice,

Examples Of De-Escalation
The Mental Health Commission of Canada stressed the importance on verbal communication and de
escalation strategies and techniques when dealing with PMI (7). As mentioned before, PMI have
feelings that police will mistreat them; therefore, it is the concern of the responding officer to
eradicate these feelings (13). By doing so, they are removing themselves as a perceived threat to the
PMI, therefore also decreasing the likelihood of a violent encounter. There are countless studies
showing the success of verbal de escalation techniques, but it takes a quick thinking, and most
importantly, a trained individual, to successfully implement these (12). Verbal techniques of de
escalation can be implemented by following the LOWLINE model (14). This ... Show more content

Also, getting the PMI to say yes has been an often go to for first responders when dealing with PMI in
crisis. Studies show anger dissipates if you can get the person to agree with you, such as saying things
like You are angry because of XYZ, is this right? creates a situation where the PMI most often
responds with yes (16). In relation to that, another useful verbal de escalation technique is to develop a
feeling of shared interests. Studies show that people are more likely to agree with those who they
share commonalities with, so a mutual interest is an important thing to establish (16). This can involve
asking the PMI do you like dogs? If the PMI responds yes, the officer could say Same here, [PMI s
name]. I have a few pet dogs, their names are Jack and Jill. If the PMI responded no, then officer must
respond accordingly, as adaptability is a key communication skill in situations such as these (15). Not
only is this engaging in conversation which could distract the PMI from their anger, but it also
establishes to the PMI that the officer wants to get to know them, and has genuine interests with him

The Death Of Socrates By Plato
Phaedo is an account of events before and after the death of Socrates as written by Plato in the form of
dialogue. This dialogue is an expression of various arguments and beliefs on the theme of mortality.
Phaedo was one of the men present to witness the death of Socrates, and before the execution, they
had engaged in conversations with which Socrates expressed his ideas on death, the soul, and the
belief in the existence of an afterlife. Plato s philosophical idealism is expressed in Phaedo in some
ways. For instance, one could apply the cyclical argument that any living being is eternal with the soul
as the imperishable aspect. Plato expresses that the soul gives continuity as it moves on to the next

The religious life in the Roman world experienced a lot of transformations with time. The changes can
be observed through the literature depending on when it was written. For instance, some revolutions
are noticeable in Book 6 of Virgil s Aeneid and Apuleius s The Golden Ass.
Book 6 of Aeneid is a sort of prophecy as Virgil gives an account of Aeneas journey to the
Underworld. The author s imagination gives an insight into the nature of punishments for sin and that
lack of adherence to the virtues of the religion results in dire consequences. The gods are portrayed as
being temperamental and are willing to exert their wrath on the human race. The gods demand
sacrifice and obedience from the human race which they proclaim superiority over. The underworld
defines the afterlife whereby the people are rewarded depending on the kind of lives they lived on
earth. The Underworld is described to have many sections, and the people are judged depending on
their virtuosity. This religious belief embraces Orphism as there is the presence of Orpheus, a priest.

Abstract
Photoluminescence is light emission that form after the absorption of photons. Dye act as a light
absorber. Organic dye is one type of dye, have a small band gap and use as semiconducting material. It
will excite the excited electron after absorb light as energy from highest occupied molecular
orbital(HOMO) to lowest unoccupied molecular orbital(LUMO). The energy of photon must be
greater than energy of band gap in order to excite electron. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Dye always acts as a light absorber. Dye will absorb light to excite the excited electron state from
HOMO to LUMO. So absorbed of photons will be happened and dye will fall back from LUMO to
HOMO. So emission of photon will be happened. So the wavelength during absorbance and emission
process can be identified by using Photoluminescene (PL) spectrometer. By knowing the wavelength
we can determine the concentration of dye. Ruthenium dye is one of the organic dye where it contains
small band gap, so it only needs small energy to excite the photon from LUMO to HOMO. So if the
dye absorb red colour it will reflect blue colour (refer figure 1). Figure 1: a wheel of colour to estimate
absorbed light based on colour of dye
Objectives
1. To speculate range of absorbed and reflected wavelength of light by Ruthenium based dye based on
its colour
2. To characterize photoluminescence property of the dye using Photoluminescence(PL) spectrometer;
usng radiation source which energy is based on the speculated absorbed wavelength
3. To estimate energy loss via radiative recombination i.e., recombination of electron with hole in the
lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) of dye.

Divorce
Introduction
Divorce is a legal action between to married people to end their marriage (Meyer, 2015). Divorce is a
social problem in today s society; it has become an epidemic (Alwin McCammon, 2003). In fact, it is
very common for couples to get divorce (Alwin McCammon, 2003). There are several types of
divorce: at fault, no fault divorce and summary divorce (Meyer, 2015). No fault divorce requires
neither husband nor wife to obtain divorce; reasons are commonly known as incompatibility,
irreconcilable differences and irremediable breakdown of marriage (Meyer, 2015). Divorcees can
transfer individual income if all assets were kept separate or income gained during the marriage
(Uunk, 2004). This type of policy helps with the financial consequences that divorce has (Uunk,
2004).
Today, getting married seems to be an old way of thinking (Amato Hohmann Marriott, 2007). Social
influences by the media have encouraged the idea of betrayal and dissolvent of marriage (Rosenfeld,
2014). Internet site have blogs about the thrill of cheating on your partner (Rosenfeld, 2014). Cultural
differences have also influenced marriage (Rosenfeld, 2014). Studies have shown there is a correlation
between social media and the increase in divorce (Rosenfeld, 2014).

MACQUARIE ISLAND ELEPHANT SEAL?

1.0 Introduction
1.1 Problem Statement
Over a century ago the elephant seal population on Macquarie Island survived a period of severe over
harvesting. The practice of hunting seals for food, oil and skins had a high demand in the market and
was largely carried out by Sydney based gangs (Bradshaw et al, 2003). During the early 1900 s
Macquarie Island was declared a nature reserve and the hunting of seals came to a halt. After cessation

It was found that after the cessation of sealing, the population on Macquarie Island began to recover.
Hindell and Burton (1988), reviews the history of sealing at Macquarie Island and the number of
elephant seals post sealing and pre sealing, and found that although the population of the elephant seal
slowly recovered, the number of seals that returned to the island was distinctively less than prior to the
commencement of sealing. There is still ongoing research on whether this was due to the seals being
too frightened to return back to the island (Burton Van Den Hoff, 2002).
3.2 Habitat Requirements and Food Source
Research shows that elephant seals come to shore mainly to breed and moult and prefer sandy or stone
beaches (Carrick and Ingham, 1960). On Macquarie Island, the elephant seal breeds mainly on the
northern tip of the island where there is an extensive beach area that is easy for the seals to come
ashore (Carrick and Ingham, 1960). However, dotted around the entire island there are also other
colonies of substantial numbers on other sandy beaches (DPIWE, 2003).
Located south of Macquarie Island are important feeding areas for the elephant seal. The elephants
seal main source of food is deep water squid and fish that is found near shore (Bradshaw et al, 2003).
Research shows that the elephant seal mainly like to

Pros And Cons Of Voter ID Laws
The idea of obtaining a voter ID and presenting it at polls to vote is a concern amongst Republicans
and Democrats. Republicans believe that a voter ID should be required at polling areas and create laws
in support of this notion, however Democrats believe that by passing these laws we deny the
constitutional right of citizens to vote, therefore rendering these laws unconstitutional. I for one
believe that we should have voter ID laws which required people show a form of ID at polling stations
to ensure that votes registered for a poll are that of a citizen and that of the one who is voting. Based
on the three articles from The Enduring Debate, debating whether we should have Voter ID laws, we
can see as to how voting fraud can be committed and how it s only use may possibly be used to push
the Republican agenda and disrupt the Democrats agenda. In John Fund s reflection, the Department
of Investigation went through a procedure to see how easy it was to commit voter fraud. The DOI had
sent out agents to show up at 63 polling places all who pretended to be voters who should have been
turned away by election officials; the agents assumed names of individuals who had died or moved
out of town, or who were sitting in jail. 61 instances, or 97 percent of the time, the testers were
allowed to vote. (Fund, pg 353) After gathering this evidence that voter fraud was possible and way
easier than it seemed, they published a report which accused the city s Board of Elections voting

John Brown Research Paper
Hello Everyone,
John Brown was a revolutionary abolitionist who felt very strongly about ending slavery. He was born
in 1800 and died in 1859. His birthplace was Torrington, Connecticut. He belonged to a very loving
family with very strong anti slavery beliefs. He tied the knot twice and brought forth 20 children from
those unions.
Brown had several business endeavors that failed. In 1842 he filed bankruptcy. He began working as a
conductor with the Underground Railroad in order to support the abolitionist cause. He also started the
League of Gileadites, which was organized to aid runaway slaves fleeing to Canada. He later moved to
a free black farming community in New York.
In 1856, at the age of 55, Brown and his sons moved to Kansas Territory, John Brown accompanied by
a small army of his four sons and two other men set out along the Pottawatomie Creek and brutally
murdered five men and boys whom they believed were promoting slavery. Later on Brown raided

In this essay, I will be investigating the odyssey of a man who indoctrinated a fascist regime and assumed the position of a dictator for all time. Hitler first entered the political arena in 1933, via exploitation of the legislative system, something he would later dismantle as leader. His appointment as Chancellor by German President, Paul Von Hindenburg, came as a surprise, after Hindenburg previously refused Hitler s request for the position. He assumed the role during the political turmoil the country was facing at the time (as a consequence of the conditions in the 1920s and early 1930s), this corresponded with the approach and policies that Hitler advocated as leader of the Nazi party. During this period of transition, he actioned the Enabling Act (23rd March), giving himself an array of authority, for example: the governing body instated Hitler with a consecutive four years in power as autocrat, thereby instating a position where he could amend the constitution as he wished it to be. Hitler abolished the remaining political associations, and by doing so, ensured his dictatorship over the new totalitarian ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I was raised here in Baker, Louisiana which is north of Baton Rouge. Growing up I noticed something very striking and odd. We are overly exposed to chemical plants and their outputs. Driving around Baton Rouge at night and seeing a distant flame I often wonder what it really was. I wonder how this was affecting the community. How was this affecting our health? Both of these movies focus on an examination of American values as seen through the lens of a professional sport, both on and off the field. Any Given Sunday and North Dallas Forty do indeed have many striking similarities. Furthermore, it seems that both movies try to give a detailed depiction on the corporate mentality of modern day professional football; while at the same time, still working to deliver a traditional, likeable sports flick. To facilitate these experiments, we used the Sniffy the virtual rat Pro Version 3.0 program by Wadsworth Cengage Learning. This program attempts to accurately simulate some of the psychological processes and behavioral phenomena found in rats. In this program, all of the subjects are always starved for food, regardless of how much it has eaten. This simplifies the process of operant conditioning by reducing the amount of time required to simply wait for the virtual rat to be hungry again. For the following experiments, 22 virtual rat subjects, each supervised by its own experimenter, were subjected to operant conditioning techniques, followed by extinction, secondary reinforcement and spontaneous recovery. Since the same program was used for each of the 22 subjects, all the virtual rats can be considered to be identical to one another. Additionally, as a result of the food deprivation programming, all virtual rats are ready for the presentation of food as a reinforcer. Although each experiment consisted of 22 rats, the rats in experiment three are the same rats that were used in experiment one. Therefore, the total number of subjects is 44 instead of 66 because the same virtual rat subjects are used in two of the three experiments. George Pullman And Economic Depression Economic depression took a big toll on America, causing events like the Panic of 1893 which created the collapse of railroad overbuilding, which further led to the collapse of many banks. This depression affected George Pullman s company, causing him to take actions, making more of an impact than he ever thought. George Pullman was an American engineer and industrialist who founded his company. He created a community and environment that his workers lived and worked in. His company played a big role in the labor movement because they were a prime source for transportation. Overtime, companies grew and continued to grow by opening mines, overflowing the market with minerals such as silver. Faster construction meant building more railroads so more goods could be shipped. Building more railroads meant having more transportation and soon enough, the production rate was significantly lower than the sell rate since companies had more deliveries from the railroads. When economic depression hit, Pullman had to make some changes that would benefit the company but not the people of the community. Economic depression sparked conflicts that resulted in the Pullman Strike. George Pullman failed to create a compromise that would solve the worker s unfair wages, poor working conditions, and the lack of voice they had, and this resulted in a halt on the labor movement. Purification Of Purification And Purification When examining the purification data in Table 4, we can analyze the different methods of purification of LDH and determine how effective each methods is in order to ultimately purify LDH. Unfortunately, there are two different definitions of purification: one is have a high end yield of the protein, while the other is having a high end concentration without any contaminating proteins. Furthermore, in order to achieve one type of purification, the other one has to be given up. The very first purification step involved the 65% ammonium sulfate cut that resulted in a highest protein concentration out of all the purification steps. The protein concentration went up from 3.925mg/ml from the clarified homogenate to 28.11mg/ml, which is resulted of the pelleting out of the LDH and reducing the volume from 114mL to 5.7mL. Furthermore, the 65% pellet cut was able to recovery 46% of the LDH, while purifying it by 6.8 fold. Also, this step was able to remove 65% of the total proteins, while retaining 35% of it. Due to the increased purity and 46% recovery of LDH we can conclude that most of the removed total protein was non LDH, contaminating protiens. Unfortunately, since this was only the first purification step, the amount of comtaminating proteins is still fairly high as depicted in Figure 14, where the 65% cut pellet contains several dark bands besides the one at 35kDa. The point when Peter Drucker, then a trainee bank assistant in Hamburg, initially contemplated the works of Sören Kierkegaard (1813 1855): the existentialist savant, theologist, religious writer and advocate of the Idea of Christianity, Kierkegaard was still moderately obscure. Drucker was captivated by the philosophy embraced by this philosophical independent, in particular, to utilize logic as an instrument for reflecting upon Christianity. Kierkegaard suspected that people existed in an element relationship as both profound creatures and individuals from society. As per Kierkegaard, it is conviction that instills our otherworldly existence with the conviction that we are not the only one, with importance, and with a flat out perspective, in particular God. The distinguishment on one hand that wickedness is a piece of human instinct and on the other that a sufferable coexistence is still conceivable got to be natural to Peter Drucker s own rationality. This gathering of Peter F. Drucker s papers investigates the crossing point between society, governmental issues, and financial aspects. Notwithstanding this grand objective, be that as it may, the papers themselves stay sensible, very meaningful, and brimming with stories and thoughts that make us ponder the business world around us. • 29. The Death Of Socrates By Plato Phaedo is an account of events before and after the death of Socrates as written by Plato in the form of dialogue. This dialogue is an expression of various arguments and beliefs on the theme of mortality. Phaedo was one of the men present to witness the death of Socrates, and before the execution, they had engaged in conversations with which Socrates expressed his ideas on death, the soul, and the belief in the existence of an afterlife. Plato s philosophical idealism is expressed in Phaedo in some ways. For instance, one could apply the cyclical argument that any living being is eternal with the soul as the imperishable aspect. Here, Aristotle expresses the need for the political leadership to work in liaison with the community to embrace virtuous living. The religious life in the Roman world experienced a lot of transformations with time. The changes can be observed through the literature depending on when it was written. For instance, some revolutions are noticeable in Book 6 of Virgil s Aeneid and Apuleius s The Golden Ass. Book 6 of Aeneid is a sort of prophecy as Virgil gives an account of Aeneas journey to the Underworld. The author s imagination gives an insight into the nature of punishments for sin and that lack of adherence to the virtues of the religion results in dire consequences. The gods are portrayed as being temperamental and are willing to exert their wrath on the human race. The gods demand sacrifice and obedience from the human race which they proclaim superiority over. The underworld defines the afterlife whereby the people are rewarded depending on the kind of lives they lived on earth. The Underworld is described to have many sections, and the people are judged depending on their virtuosity. This religious belief embraces Orphism as there is the presence of Orpheus, a priest. A Study On Observation Of Photoluminiscene A study on observation of photoluminiscene in Ruthenium based dye (cis diisothiocyanato bis(2,2 bipyridil 4,4 dicarboxylic acid)ruthenium (II)) Adlina Izny binti Ahmad Advanced Material Laboratory Faculty of Industrial Sciences Technology, Universiti Malaysia Pahang Kuantan, Malaysia Abstract Photoluminescence is light emission that form after the absorption of photons. Dye act as a light absorber. Organic dye is one type of dye, have a small band gap and use as semiconducting material. It will excite the excited electron after absorb light as energy from highest occupied molecular orbital(HOMO) to lowest unoccupied molecular orbital(LUMO). The energy of photon must be greater than energy of band gap in order to excite electron. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dye always acts as a light absorber. Dye will absorb light to excite the excited electron state from HOMO to LUMO. So absorbed of photons will be happened and dye will fall back from LUMO to HOMO. So emission of photon will be happened. So the wavelength during absorbance and emission process can be identified by using Photoluminescene (PL) spectrometer. By knowing the wavelength we can determine the concentration of dye. Ruthenium dye is one of the organic dye where it contains small band gap, so it only needs small energy to excite the photon from LUMO to HOMO. So if the dye absorb red colour it will reflect blue colour (refer figure 1). Figure 1: a wheel of colour to estimate absorbed light based on colour of dye Objectives 1. Wuaku SOCL 1020 Introduction to Sociology 8 January 2015 Table of Contents Introduction 3 Review of Literature 4 Conclusion 5 Reference List 6 Divorce Introduction Divorce is a legal action between to married people to end their marriage (Meyer, 2015). Divorce is a social problem in today s society; it has become an epidemic (Alwin McCammon, 2003). In fact, it is very common for couples to get divorce (Alwin McCammon, 2003). There are several types of divorce: at fault, no fault divorce and summary divorce (Meyer, 2015). No fault divorce requires neither husband nor wife to obtain divorce; reasons are commonly known as incompatibility, irreconcilable differences and irremediable breakdown of marriage (Meyer, 2015). Divorcees can transfer individual income if all assets were kept separate or income gained during the marriage (Uunk, 2004). This type of policy helps with the financial consequences that divorce has (Uunk, 2004). Today, getting married seems to be an old way of thinking (Amato Hohmann Marriott, 2007). Social influences by the media have encouraged the idea of betrayal and dissolvent of marriage (Rosenfeld, 2014). Kylie Fraser 16622393 Curtin University Word Count: 2500 1.0 Introduction 1.1 Problem Statement Over a century ago the elephant seal population on Macquarie Island survived a period of severe over harvesting. The practice of hunting seals for food, oil and skins had a high demand in the market and was largely carried out by Sydney based gangs (Bradshaw et al, 2003). During the early 1900 s Macquarie Island was declared a nature reserve and the hunting of seals came to a halt. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was found that after the cessation of sealing, the population on Macquarie Island began to recover. Hindell and Burton (1988), reviews the history of sealing at Macquarie Island and the number of elephant seals post sealing and pre sealing, and found that although the population of the elephant seal slowly recovered, the number of seals that returned to the island was distinctively less than prior to the commencement of sealing. There is still ongoing research on whether this was due to the seals being too frightened to return back to the island (Burton Van Den Hoff, 2002). 3.2 Habitat Requirements and Food Source Research shows that elephant seals come to shore mainly to breed and moult and prefer sandy or stone beaches (Carrick and Ingham, 1960). On Macquarie Island, the elephant seal breeds mainly on the northern tip of the island where there is an extensive beach area that is easy for the seals to come ashore (Carrick and Ingham, 1960). However, dotted around the entire island there are also other colonies of substantial numbers on other sandy beaches (DPIWE, 2003). • 37. Pros And Cons Of Voter ID Laws The idea of obtaining a voter ID and presenting it at polls to vote is a concern amongst Republicans and Democrats. Republicans believe that a voter ID should be required at polling areas and create laws in support of this notion, however Democrats believe that by passing these laws we deny the constitutional right of citizens to vote, therefore rendering these laws unconstitutional. I for one believe that we should have voter ID laws which required people show a form of ID at polling stations to ensure that votes registered for a poll are that of a citizen and that of the one who is voting. Based on the three articles from The Enduring Debate, debating whether we should have Voter ID laws, we can see as to how voting fraud can be committed and how it s only use may possibly be used to push the Republican agenda and disrupt the Democrats agenda. In John Fund s reflection, the Department of Investigation went through a procedure to see how easy it was to commit voter fraud. The DOI had sent out agents to show up at 63 polling places all who pretended to be voters who should have been turned away by election officials; the agents assumed names of individuals who had died or moved out of town, or who were sitting in jail. 61 instances, or 97 percent of the time, the testers were allowed to vote. Even older genres that have seemed to die out still have fans such as disco or polka. Many researchers discuss why people favor the music that they do. This has been a popular topic in music research considering how important music has become in everyday life. Music is played in the car, on the internet, on cellphones, and even behind commercials on television. It is hard to imagine a world without it. Music genres can be split into categories for what genders are dominating the majority of their listeners. Heavier music such as rap and rock seem to appeal more to a young male because of the reoccurring themes of aggression and independence. Whereas lighter music normally involves themes of emotion and love which a girl can better relate too. As mentioned above, I believe age, ethnicity, culture, and genetics all play a role in musical preference, but gender should not be left out. While some believe that music preference all belongs to the individual and not about fitting into the generic stereotypes. I disagree and believe that gender does take part in the music selection one makes. Literature Review Kelly D. Schwartz and Gregory T.
