The Obesity Epidemic Of Obesity Essay
Introduction
Obesity is becoming an outrageous and alarming health issue in today s society. Children are rapidly
getting engulfed by this pandemic every day. According to the book Public Health 101: Health People
Healthy Populations, pandemic can be defined as, An epidemic occurring worldwide, or over a very
wide area, crossing international boundaries and affecting a large number of people (Riegelman,
Kirkwood, 2015). The World Health Organization estimates that 43 million children worldwide are
overweight or obese, with the United States leading the numbers (WHO, 2016). About one in three
children and teenagers in America are obese. Obesity can lead to a variety of other serious health
issues, such as diabetes, heart disease, asthma, high blood pressure, and other health risks. Finding
effective interventions and programs to reverse obesity rates is essential. Obesity is one hundred
percent preventable and treatable.
Intervention Strategy 1: Obesity Prevention Programs
Childhood obesity is continuing to grow at a rapid and dangerous pace. It is vital for the population to
be educated on practicing a healthy life style to prevent obesity. A study done by C. Nathan Marti, Eric
Stice, and Heather Shaw (2006) evaluates the effectiveness of childhood prevention programs in a
variety of different settings. The study was funded by the US Agency for Healthcare Research and
Quality (AHRQ) and the National Institutes of Health. There have been a variety of childhood obesity

The Wells Creek Impact Structure
The Wells Creek Impact Structure: Impact Melts produces shock metamorphism in the target rock.
Michael A. Burklow
Department of Geology, University of Tennessee at Martin, Martin, Tennessee 38237, USA
Abstract
The Wells Creek structure was formed by a meteorite impact in Cumberland, Tennessee (36°〖23〗^
N,87°40 W) which is the northern part of Middle Tennessee. This region is known as the highland rim.
The younger and older strata is exposed in two areas in the highland rim which means the older
sediment has been eroded and much of the younger sediment remains. The impact produced a variety
of structural features. The circular central block contains a circular core of megabreccia about 1520
meters (Ford, 2012). The impacted breccia is monomitic breccia, which is the result of rock
deformation from the impact event. The breccia from Wells Creek is homogenous breccia that has
been under intense movement and very high confining pressures. The angular Horst is an upthrown
block between the two fault blocks and the inner Graben is a downthrown block near the central block
(Ford, 2012). The larger impact structure is an anticline which is boarded by a second ring Syncline of
the wells creek basin structure (Ford, 2012). The shock wave releases are large amounts of energy
from the central point of impact moving outward forming ring anticlines and synclines. The impacted
breccia matrix consists of angular fragmented chert, limestone, and dolomite. The wells creek

Change Management Plan
Running head: CHANGE MANAGEMENT PLAN
Building a Culture for Sustaining Change at CrysTel
Student Name
University of Phoenix
Introduction
A reliable change management plan is often required to overcome workplace resistance when
employees are presented with a new way of doing things. Change management is a strategy designed
to transition from the status quo to some new ideal way of doing business. CrysTel, a growing
telecommunications company, finds itself in a very dynamic industry that along with frequent
advances in technology will dictate that it adapt to rapid and persistent changes. Developing a
successful change management plan for CrysTel will have three distinct goals: optimize flexibility,
promote innovation, and sustain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regular feedback and proactive counseling help to effectively close information gaps between
employees. The Marketing department suffers most from performance feedback at CrysTel. They do
not have a strong mentoring process in place and there is an issue with delegation of responsibility
here. 360 Degree Feedback provides accurate performance feedback to staff members who receive
feedback from a boss, coworkers, and direct reporting staff. Done appropriately, it can boost
performance and provide recognition and motivation (Debare, 1997). Because feedback is intimately
related to the goal setting process, it involves the same behavioral outcomes: direction, effort, and
persistence (Kreitner, 2003).
Employees of Technology Development department at CrysTel are encouraged to approach a conflict
resolution committee to address unresolved conflicts. Conversely, the Sales and Delivery department
only allows conflicts or issues to be raised only during the semi annual performance review. This was
indicative of a lower score than the other departments in this area on the climate survey.
Multifunctional roles carried out by members of this department causes overlapping efforts and
undefined responsibilities. Inadequate communication and teamwork make conflict resolution
difficult. Problem solving is the only style that represents a purely win–win orientation (McShane,
2004). Problem solving tries to find a mutually beneficial solution for both

To Live is to Be : Existentialism in Heart of Darkness, Lord Jim, and The Importance of Being Earnest
During the modernist era of literature; a recurrent theme was prevalent in their works of art. The idea
of existentialism revolving around the notion that you first experience life before you can begin to
exist and understand yourself. This ideology stemmed from the main fear of the era; the end of the
century. The fear of the unknown; the fear of what was to come in the following century (if it came)
allowed for this ideology. When you believe time is running out, it puts a lot of things into perspective

They, above the Council in Europe, you know mean him to be (29). Throughout the entire trip people
keep praising Kurtz (except the general manager) and this prepares Marlow for a very impressionable
first impression. Marlow keeps thinking about Kurtz as this ideal man in the dark jungle. This of
course is all shattered when Marlow meets him. Marlow, having hoped to meet someone who would
not have been corrupted by the exposure of the jungle, meets Kurtz near death. This is moment of
meeting is crucial for Marlow because it is turning point for his ideals. They meet the harsh truth that
even the most idealistic, charismatic ones can be corrupted. Marlow loses his faith in his home and
everything they represent because when he goes back, Marlow refuses to speak with people. He walks
around disenchanted by the propaganda that Europe spews about Africa; and he is embittered that the
people back home can not see through it. This shows how experiences shape who you become and
how you identify in the world because that is the difference between Marlow and the common person
back home: Marlow experience the Congo firsthand and therefore will always identify with those
events. Similarly, Kurtz s values and perception of himself change through the realization of his final
moments in his iconic last words: the horror, the horror (116). Kurtz, although having started off as

Presidential Election Scenarios
The Presidential Election of 2016 is making an impact in, on, and around America. Military and War
on Terror is a topic that is based on where the government is sending troops; when they are going; and
why they are going to these places. The government has also allowed us to open many prison camps
that hold prisoners from places like Iraq, and the Middle East countries. The leaders that are going to
have to make these decisions and have our lives in their hands that are coming are either, Hillary

Similarities Between Roark And Keating
The Fountainhead, a story of man s struggle and perseverance to succeed in a dog eat dog world.
Howard Roark and Peter Keating, two men with similar goals, to become the greatest architect yet the
two take completely different paths to achieve this goal, but who really achieved true success. The
answer is simple, Howard Roark was the only one to achieve true success in the end. The paths of
these two men were very clearly divided, Keating choose one of kissing butt and sacrificing all his
morals just to succeed while Roark chooses a path of kick butt honesty and staying true to himself.
The first example of this is in the college. The Dean of Stanton expels Roark for designing modernist
architecture and refusing to draw architecture the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this case, Keating falls in love with Dominique Francon, daughter of the esteemed Guy Francon,
owner of the firm Keating works for. However, when Dominique meets Roark and the two fall in love,
she ignores all of all of Keating s advances; even more so when Dominique discovers Roark s true
architectural prowess. The two then became secret lovers in the bedroom despite Dominique
continually ruining Roark in public. But then, as all else goes, Roark falls on hard times again.
Another journalist, Ellsworth Toohey creates an elaborate plan to have Roark ruined. The plan was to
hire Roark to build a temple then sue him for his creation. And of course Roark loses the court case,
causing him to lose all of his money and Dominique. Meanwhile Keating is probably sitting up in a
fancy penthouse drinking fancy alcohol and continually designing meek and unoriginal pieces of
architecture. And to had a cherry on top to the already tragic sundae, Keating and Dominique wed,
leaving Roark broke, heart broken, and

Susan Sontag s The Allegory Of The Cave
When was the last time you looked at a photograph and actually thought to yourself Wow! I actually
fully understand the image I am currently viewing. ? If you haven t ever done that before then you are
with 99.99% of the population. However, if one views a well crafted and carefully planned photograph
they will actually honestly understand it. I qualify Susan Sontag s claim that All possibility of
understanding is rooted in the ability to say no. Strictly speaking, it is doubtful that a photograph can
help us to understand anything due to conflicting reasons. On one level, Sontag is correct because
when people view an image they look at it in an extremely basic and simple way without looking at it
from a different perspective. Most viewers wouldn t be able to see the real reason the photographer
has shot the photo. It would be the literary equivalent of someone reading The Allegory of the Cave
literally like a story about prisoners in cave staring at shadows instead of looking at the true meaning
of the analogy. Despite this, Sontag can be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

people were moved by the image and understood it so well that some people even volunteered at
refugee camps like the ones she lived in. The photograph proved that people can truly understand a
photograph if given an image of excellence. Photographer Margaret Bourke White further clarifies my

Browned and lightly charred on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside, a perfectly grilled steak has
the power to make grown men cry. But on the contrary a dry, overcooked steak can ruin someone s
day. With so many ways to get it wrong, it s no wonder grilling a steak can be so hard. There are many
types of steak cuts, meaning the part of the cow that the steak actually comes from. Steakhouses use
cuts that come from the Longissimus dorsi and the Psoas major. The Longissimus dorsi are a pair of
long, tender muscles that run down either side of the spine of the steer, outside the ribs, all the way
from the neck to the hip ( High End Steaks ).There are four types of steaks that should be considered
when buying steaks. The ribeye, coming from the rib area of the cow, the strip, cut from the rear end
of the cow, the tenderloin, cut from the psoas muscle, and the T bone, which is a piece of tenderloin
and strip separated by a T bone. These four types of steaks are they types of steaks that will usually be

To tell how well the steak is, a meat thermometer will need to be used to check the temperature of the
steak. The doneness of the steak goes from rare to well done. To tell how done the steak is, stick the
meat thermometer into the meat, a steak that is rare will be at 130 degrees while a well done steak will
get to 165 degrees before removing from the grill ( How to Grill ). One of the most important steps is
letting the steak rest. If the steak is cut right after coming off the grill it will become dry because all
the juices inside the steak will leak out. After the steak has rested for about five to ten minutes, the
steak can be cut and combined with more seasoning if desired to add more

1. Analyzing Airbus Objectives
Airbus had a reputation for innovative design and technology. All Airbus planes employed fly by wire
technology that substituted computerized control for mechanical linkages between the pilot and the
aircraft s control surfaces. This technology combined with a common cockpit design permitted cross
crew qualification (CCQ) whereby pilots were certified to fly similar aircrafts, thus offering flexible
scheduling in flight crews on various models, leading to better pilot utilization and lower training
costs. These features helped explain why Airbus had received over half of the total large aircraft
orders for the first time in 1999. However, despite the gains in market share, Airbus still did not have a
product to compete with the monopoly of Boeing s 747 in the VLA market.
This comprises the main reason why Airbus is interested in building the A3XX. It attempts to create a
dominant design that the market for large planes may pledge allegiance to, moving from simply
product innovations to process improvements for the VLA. It does intend to just replicate the 747s and
achieve a jumbo jet with the same capabilities. Rather, it aims to increase the seating capacity and
reduce costs for the operators by so much more than what Boeing s alleged monopoly holds, with the
objective of seizing the market

The Testing Of Salivary Biomarkers
Introduction: Although the testing of salivary biomarkers has yet to take hold in clinical settings, the
research surrounding this science is promising. Ideally, in the future, patients will be able to submit
saliva samples to their doctor or dentist to be tested for a variety of conditions which can be detected
based on particular proteins or enzymes, et cetera. The hope is that these tests could lead to early
disease detection and treatment. In this report, you will find the ways in which saliva can be gathered,
as well as the known biomarkers for specific diseases, and the shortcomings and hopes for research in
this field.
Saliva Composition and Function: In this article, author Karthikeyan Murthykumar discusses the
composition of saliva, as well as its ability to protect the mouth, and aid in digestion. The study
performed identified the following details regarding saliva composition and function: Saliva is
excreted through three different glands: parotid, submandibular, and sublingual. It is comprised of
about 99% water, but contains a mixture of ions and proteins, such as sodium, potassium, calcium,
chloride, magnesium, bicarbonate, phosphate, albumin, and some polypeptides. Before saliva is
excreted through the glands, it is isotonic to blood plasma. However, once it exits the ducts of the
glands, it is hypotonic. It is this hypotonicity that allows us to perceive flavor, by then mixing with
ions and dissolving gustin. Gustin is a salivary protein which

This segregation and precipitation of the secondary phases can change the mechanical properties of

minimize the formation of the Nb rich Laves phases and consequently, reduce its susceptibility to
solidification cracking. Therefore, it is also important to investigate the phase transformation process.

The 1950 s Cartoon Version Of A Cinderella Story
Everyone has surely heard of some version of a Cinderella story. These stories may be somewhat

,A few of the main themes that are shared are love, good versus evil, and wealth. These themes are
present in all of the Cinderella stories and through these stories, the themes also show reality by

Wealth is also a main theme in Cinderella stories; it shows how people do crazy things in order to
have money, nice things, and to be superficial. Most of the women at the ball are mainly there to
marry a Prince most likely so that they may become wealthy and have everything that they have ever
wanted in life. Sometimes this is similar in real life seeing as to how some women try to find rich men
and to marry them by love, but in actuality all they are after are the man s money. It shows also how
people do crazy things for wealth by how the step mother and step sisters react to sensing that
Cinderella would end up with the Prince. They tried to hurt her, physically, emotionally, and mentally.
They also lied and tried to trick people and it just goes to show how money changes people. In real
life, this theme compares to how wealth corrupts people; showing how with the more money people
receive, they usually become even more selfish, and continue to want more and more wealth. It shows
the superficial side of wealth as well seeing as to how within the Cinderella stories show how fake the
step sisters become when trying to manipulate the Prince. They are truly evil, yet make their selves
appear as nice just in order to receive what they want, which is wealth. This is also prevalent in today
s society, because everyday people can fake a smile, look fake, and completely change everything

The Technology And Its Performance Advantages
Abstract
Nanofluids are another sort of warmth exchange medium, containing nanoparticles (1 100 nm), which
are consistently and steadily distributed in a base liquid (Wang Mujumdar, 2007). Down scaling or
scaling down has been a late major pattern in cutting edge science and innovation. Builds now
manufacture miniaturized scale gadgets, for example, micro channel heat exchangers, and small scale
pumps that are the measure of dust bits. Further significant advances would be gotten if the coolant
streaming in the smaller scale channels were to contain nanoscale particles to upgrade heat exchange.
Nanofluids innovation will in this way be a rising and energizing innovation of the 21st century. This
paper gives explanation on the nanofluids technology and its performance advantages. It likewise
depicts case of potential applications and characterizations of nanofluids. At long last, future
examination on the fundamentals and utilizations of nanofluids are great (Wang Mujumdar, 2007).

Awakened to the Psychological Concepts Portrayed in Film The film Awakenings is an emotional film
that tells the story of a doctor, named Dr. Malcolm Sayer played by Robin Williams, who starts work
at a chronic hospital in the Bronx during the late 1960 s. As he examines patients at the hospital
though he comes to observe a good many of them are experiencing the same symptoms of a being in a
catatonic and unresponsive state yet still having the ability to react to certain stimuli. One patient in
particular, named Leonard Lowe played by Robert De Niro, catches Sayer s attention and he decides
to administer a new drug known as L Dopa in hopes of saving him from his coma like state. The drugs
works and soon all of the once statuesque patients are reanimated, but only for a short time, and sadly
soon Leonard and the rest of his fellow patients regress to their original catatonic state. However,
although this films proves to be deeply emotional with an extremely touching story many concepts
that relate to psychology are also present within it as well. Some concepts present within the film
Awakenings are that of the principle of ethics, the frustration aggression theory, conformity, and also
the idea of empathy altruism.

An Exegesis Of Genesis 3 Essay
The following essay I will be conducting an exegesis of Genesis 3; 1 12 in its ancient and modern
context. I will be analysing themes that run throughout the text and the importance of these themes in
identifying the meaning of this passage. Genesis 3 revolves around the fall of creation, in this essay I
will analysing the fall and the roles the characters play in the fall and evaluate the fall of humanity and
the implications this has modern society.
Serpent is repeated throughout the Bible for example, Deuteronomy 32:33 ( Their wine is the venom
of serpents, the deadly poison of cobras. ) and Job 20; 14 ( yet his food will turn sour in his stomach; it
will become the venom of serpents within him. ) These are a few examples of this repetition , suggests
that the serpent is important within the Bible however he is always mentioned in reference to evil. The
serpent plays an important role in this passage , as he the instigator of the fall in which he tempts Eve
to eat from the forbidden tree. He challenges the credibility of God by convincing Eve to eat from the
tree, which presents God as being devious which contradicts the omnibenevolent God presented by
Christianity. John E. Toews agrees as he argues that at the conclusion of the dialogue the issue is can
God be trusted? Has God been completely truthful with humans? A pious question about God is really
a very cunning question because it forces the woman to render a judgment about God. The serpent

Bay area in the 1903 Cuban American treaty in which the United States gained the right to control the
Cuban territory while at the same time recognizing the Cuban state sovereignty (Nofi, 112). In the
year 1970, the United States began to use part of the Guantanamo Naval Base as a detention camp for
Cubans and Haitians that were caught in the high sea trying to get into the United States illegally
(Gott, 78). However, the detention camp later became a political tool, which politicians used for their

In the year 2004, Cuban diplomats accused the United States government for contriving the
international law by denying the prisoners in the Guantanamo Bay the right to challenge their
detention through legal action. The diplomats said that the U.S. government had to try the
Guantanamo Bay prisoners, or repatriate them to their home countries where they would be tried. For
this reason, the Cuba diplomats called for a UN investigation into Guantanamo Bay to find out if
rights were being violated. After the investigation, in 2007, the United States gave out a report in
which they said that the US violated the international law especially the provision on the international
covenant on civil and political rights (Bravin, 97 98).
In the year 2006, the United Nations unsuccessfully called for the closure of the Guantanamo Bay
Detention Camp (Bravin, 65). In response to the accusations made against the United States for
violating the rights of the Guantanamo Bay prisoners, former President Bush responded to his critics
by saying that the United States was not obligated to grant constitutional rights to the prisoners in
Guantanamo Bay because, Guantanamo Bay Prison is located outside the United States. Bush also
said that the United States had not violated any provision of the Geneva Convention since the Geneva

Analyzing Sylvia Path s Daddy
Daddy Analyzation The poem Daddy by Sylvia Path is a very dark poem. The poem is about both the
narrator s father and her husband. The narrator must have relationship problems because she is very
conflicted in this poem. Both of these seem to have a struggling relationship with her. She compares
her dad to a number of things: vampire, devil, and a fascist. Throughout the poem, she only speaks of
her daddy and suddenly turns the table and starts talking about how she s killed two men. These two
men were both killed by the narrator. In the beginning, when talking about her father s death, the
narrator makes it sound like her just died of natural causes. But by the end it sounds like she killed
him and her husband. In this poem, the narrator had a struggling relationship with her father.
In this poem, the narrator goes back and forth about her relationship with her father. One moment, she
hates him and criticizes the way he treated her, and the next she praises him. In lines 65 67, Path
states, But no less a devil for that, no not/Any less the black man who/ Bit my pretty red heart in two,

Path writes, At twenty I tried to die/ And get back, back, back to you, (Lines 69 70). I m pretty sure
this person may be bipolar because within five lines she has different emotions for her father. In these
lines, she is explaining how she wanted to die, so that she could be with him again. Why would she
want to be with him again after all the so called horrible things she claimed her did? She says such
horrible things about him, especially when she compares herself to a Jew and her father a fascist in
lines 32 53. She even says she tried to die which probably means she attempted suicide. This proves
that she has had a struggling relationship with her father because she can t even decide whether or not

Assault In David Lurie s Disgrace
In Disgrace, two instances of sexual assault occur, albeit the outcomes of these assaults could not
contrast more. After the first, the novel s protagonist, David Lurie, finds himself in the middle of a
well publicized scandal due to his unconventional relations with a student; after the second, Lurie is
indirectly affected by the rape, as it is his daughter, Lucy, who is the victim of the despicable crime,
and never receives justice. Lurie was not ashamed of his actions previous to his daughter s rape, but
after she is assaulted, he sees the situation in an entirely new light, as it is his own child being violated
by men. However, he and Lucy have completely different beliefs on how the matter should be
handled. Although he is familiar with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He repeatedly insists that Lucy press charges against her attackers while she maintains her defence of
saying he wasn t there, and you don t know what happened (134). With Lurie continuing to bombard

to the police: ʻWhat if this is the price one has to pay for staying on? ... They see me as owing
something. They see themselves as debt collectors, tax collectors. Why should I be allowed to live
here without paying? Perhaps that is what they tell themselves (158). As suggested by Barnard, Lucy
is accept[ing] her fate as a symbol of the redistribution of power in post apartheid Africa and sees her
rapists as gathering apartheid debts , as her attackers were black (Barnard 74). Lucy also says that her
decision to stay silent is Freedom of speech. Freedom to remain silent (Coetzee 188). With this
reasoning, she is silencing herself as a rape victim and accepting the consequences of the attack by
deciding to keep one of the attackers children she becomes pregnant with , in addition to marry her

The Effect Of Temperature And Ph On The Enzyme Activity Of...
The Impact of Temperature and pH on the Enzyme Activity of Catechol Oxidase in Solanum
Tuberosum Samples Abstract The role of an enzyme is to catalyse reactions within a cell. The enzyme
present in a potato (Solanum Tuberosum) is catechol oxidase. In this experiment, the enzyme activity
was tested under different temperature and pH conditions. The objective of this experiment was to
determine the ideal conditions under which catechol oxidase catalyses reactions. In order to do this,
catechol was catalyzed by catechol oxidase into benzoquinone at diverse temperatures and pH values.
The enzyme was exposed to its new environment for 5 minutes before the absorbance of the catechol
oxidase was measured at 420 nm using a spectrophotometer. The use of a spectrophotometer was
crucial for the collection of data in this experiment. When exposed to hot and cold temperatures, some
enzymes were found to denature causing the activity to decrease. Similarly, when the pH was too high
or low, then the catechol oxidase enzyme experienced a significant decrease in activity. It can be
concluded after completing this experiment that the optimal pH for catechol oxidase is 7 and that the
prime temperature is 20º C. Due to the fact that the catechol oxidase was only tested under several
different temperatures and pH values, it is always possible to get a more precise result by decreasing
the increments between the test values. However, our experiment was able to produce accurate results
as to the

Spread Of Diversity
The drastic spread within the world religions has been causing a great deal of diversity in today s
society. Due to the spread, as well as the diversity there has been formed lots of stereotypes which in
its length has created conflicts between both religious and nonreligious groups. Despite the tragic
facts, people are still sticking to their religions and the question is: Why?
Today s society, especially in the west, has grown to become more and more secular. It is said that this
is due to our governments. Since religion is about faith, moral and voluntary associations they mean
that if the government would be controlled by religion it would be forced to implement religious acts.
That could often lead to unnecessary conflicts that eventually

Castration Is Young Boys From 1600 To 1800 In Italian
In the year 1600 to 1800 in Italy, Castration is young boys was very common. Castration is the
surgical removal of the testicles, which gave allowed males to have the vocal range of a woman and
the lung capacity of a man. This practice however had to be allowed by the parents of the child.
Parents did this in hopes that their children would grow up to be an accomplished opera star. Opera
stars who had been castrated were paid the highest of all musicians. Parents could be doing this for the
possible benefit of their child, or to reap the benefits of having a wealthy child. Musical art is not
worth the personal and physical obstacles encountered by the castrati. While gaining a superior
singing voice, the boy will lose the ability to have children.

The Success Of Any Business
The success of any business can be traced back to management. For this reason, managers need to be
able to adapt to and address the changing needs of not only their customs, but even more importantly,
their employees. Change is always occurring, and the manner in which an employee s needs are
attended to in present day society, is rather different from that of 100 years ago. The development
from the 19th and early 20th century management strategies, to the current management
understanding, was not a change that occurred overnight. It was a gradual movement from the earliest
management philosophy, the Classical Perspective, to the Scientific Management Approach, to today s
Humanistic Perspective. Developed in the 19th century, the Classical Perspective addressed the issue
of maximizing efficiency. Historically, during this time period, a majority of people in the workforce
were immigrants with no previous training or knowledge of the jobs they were set to perform. Thus,
managers were burdened with the task of converting these unskilled workers into employees who
performed their jobs correctly and in a timely manner, despite cultural barriers, in attempt to turn
businesses into efficient operating machines. The problems in industry during this time, such as
managing huge unskilled labor forces in factories, dealing with complex production systems, and
managing an expansive manufacturing operation, were the sole focus of the Classical Perspective.
This perspective did not

Bowling For Columbine Gun Violence Analysis
The Influence of Gun Violence in America Will there ever be an end to gun violence? Bowling for
Columbine is a documentary by Michael Moore that demonstrates how gun violence is transforming
America into a dangerous country. Michael Moore plays with the emotions of the American public by
centering his documentary on the tragedy of Columbine. He explores the reasons as to why gun
violence is at an all time high in America by listing his ideas in a personal way rather than being
professional like in most documentaries. However, the way that he directs his film captured my
attention and made me question as to why there is so much gun violence in America. Although, the
film does center on the affects of Columbine, Moore looks deeper into the cause of gun violence. His
documentary style is to hit the emotions of the public and to wrap the facts into his point of view.
Some of the interviews that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just by connecting his title to the Columbine incident, he is using Ad Miscordium, an emotional
manipulation. This helps with getting the support of people who have children or those who remember
the incident. The first half of the movie was filled with the patriotic approach of argumentum ad
populum. Many of the interviewees defended their gun carrying with their right of arms. That it was
their duty to protect the ones they love and to be equipped for their safety. When they were asked
about just contacting the police a woman declared that it was better to cut out the middle man and
protect their own. When the cause of Columbine was approached every reason was a hasty
generalization. For example, when the public, mainly the religious groups, blamed Marilyn Manson as
the cause of why the two boys inflicted violence at Columbine. On the other hand, I do believe that
Moore could have done more research for the film instead of forcing emotion throughout the entire

Essay on The Holy Bible
Suffering and The Book of Job
Life is difficult. Suffering...is not an exception to the human condition, it is the human condition
(Gomes 405). The question of why life can be unjustly cruel is asked today and has been asked since
the beginning of time.
And where is God in the midst of hardship? Is He non existent, as the pagan statement, It s Chance
alone that moves and rules our lives implies (Neiman 442). Or is God only partially in control of
situations, as Harold Kushner concludes, writing, there are some things God does not control (462). Is
all suffering a direct result of our own actions, as David Neiman offers ( He who is suffering and
believes in a God of justice, must also blame himself for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Job, a righteous man devastated beyond imagination, cries out to God in a way many can identify
with. He expresses his anger toward God (10:8), feels separated from God (13:24), and demands an
answer form God (10:2). However, the reader can observe Job s struggle with his righteousness. He
claims his innocence and even presents to God specific deeds he has done throughout his life (29:1
25). But then he constantly comes back to the same question: But how can a man be just before God?
(9:2). This profound question is crucial to our understanding of our relationship to God and our
acceptance of His will. As good as Job is, when he sees himself in the light of God s perfection, he
realizes that he is just as wretched as the next guy. God owes him nothing.
God s very first words to Job, Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge? (38:2)
speak clearly to all people. The problem of man s existence is that he does not know what is going on
in the universe beyond the veil of mystery, and is unaware of the workings of God (Neiman 443). God
has a perfect understanding of justice, an omniscience that we cannot fathom, and, as Biblical history
has shown, God has perhaps used people unfairly to accomplish his will. For believing Christians,
God performed the most unfair act of all by allowing Christ, His son, to be mocked, tortured, and

Essay on A Comparison between Billy Liar and Shirley...
A Comparison between Billy Liar and Shirley Valentine
I have just been studying Billy Liar and performing it as part of my mock scripted drama GCSE, and
have been asked to compare this theatre script to the film script of Shirley Valentine. I have already
given the first difference between these two scripts; one is a theatre script and the other is designed
specifically for the big screen.
Billy Liar was originally a novel written by Keith Waterhouse, who with the help of Willis Hall made
it into a theatre script in the
1960 s. Billy is an imaginative youth who is fighting to get out of his complacent, cliché ridden
background. He was born and brought up in a town in Yorkshire and lives with his father, Geoffrey,
mother, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shirley leaves without informing Joe and leaves him to fend for himself for two weeks. On the plane
Jane meets a man and goes off with him leaving Shirley on her own. Slowly
Shirley rediscovers herself and meets a bar owner called Costas who she has an affair with. By the end
of the two weeks Shirley does not want to leave and makes the decision to stay behind in Greece and
get a job. Joe on the other hand wants her back but she refuses, and in the last scene of the play we see
that Joe makes the effort and goes out to Greece to win Shirley back.
Because both scripts are designed for different purposes the dialogue in each one is very different. In
Billy Liar the dialogue is quite lengthy and quite adult, proper and formal in the way it is constructed.
This would be down to the time at which it was written.
In the 1960 s the Lord Chancellor was very tough on censorship. Any swearing or even slightly risqué
images were changed or censored completely. The strongest word used within the play is probably
bloody which Geoffrey says a lot and even this, is a bit close to the bone . Whereas when Shirley
Valentine was written there was not such a strong censorship law. In Shirley Valentine there is a lot of
risqué language and many sexual innuendoes. The dialogue is a also very brief, there is no need for
such long and perfectly formed

Bringing Chicago to Life
Carl Sandburg describes Chicago as a tough and hefty city. Chicago is portrayed as a proud city, a city
proud to be so strong and cunning whereas other cities of the time were not. Chicago is characterized
by the people and workers who live in it. Sandburg loves Chicago even though it is a brutally tough
city. Sandburg uses imagery, personification, and punctuation to characterize the city as an actual
person.
Sandburg uses imagery that gives Chicago the reputation of being wicked, crooked, and brutal. The
author gives references of when people have called the city such names. Sandburg says, And they tell
me you are crooked and I answer: Yes, it is true I have seen/ the gunman kill and go free to kill again,
(line 8 9). Not only did Sandburg write this line to give an example of one of the things people call his
city but he is also saying yes I have seen it happen, Chicago can be dangerous. Despite what people
say about his city he still describes it as proud. Sandburg sneers, Come and show me another city with
lifted head singing so proud to be/ alive and coarse and strong and cunning, (14 15). Sandburg defends
his city while some people think it is cruel and harsh he describes Chicago as proud of those
characteristics. Sandburg portrays Chicago as wicked, crooked, and brutal, but takes pride in living in
a city that is so tough.
Sandburg uses personification to describe Chicago as an actual living person. The author characterizes
Chicago as various types of workers.

Enid Schildkrout s Into The Heart Of Africa
Into the Heart of Africa was an infamous exhibition at the Royal Ontario Museum in 1989 that made
its way into textbooks as an example of cultural appropriation. The exhibition advertised itself as the
first major African exhibition in Toronto and aimed to be a critical examination of the relationship
between Ontario and Africa at the turn of the century (Burret 2004: p. 127). Through the juxtaposition
of provocative colonial imagery and artifacts with critical texts and ironic captions, the exhibition
challenges dominant colonial narratives regarding Africa (p. 132). Yet, within a few months of its
opening, the museum made national headlines with accusations of racism, cultural appropriation, and
the propagation of old colonial stereotypes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Young, 2009). From a post colonial perspective, this practice is both harmful and hegemonic
systematically devaluing the cultures of minority groups and casting them as exotic or mysterious.
While this is far from the original intent of Into the Heart of Africa , Anthropologist Enid Schildkrout
argues that it is inevitable that it becomes perceived this way with its ambiguity and reliance on irony
and juxtaposition, built upon unrealistic, and untested, expectations about the audience (Schildkrout
1991: p. 16). Some scholars argue that despite the exhibition s intentions, members of the general
public do often trust museums as authoritative sources, and were thus shocked by exhibit s the violent
images and seemingly colonial presentation of African artifacts. (Burret 2004, p. 139). Others draw
attention to the lack of involvement of the African Canadian community, arguing that this led to a
detachment between the curators of the exhibition and the needs and perspective of both its audience
and subject matter (Burret 2004, p. 141). Regardless of the true cause, it is clear that there are many
lessons to be drawn from this experience from the importance of community involvement to the value
of a clear presentations of themes and curatorial

Bucho s Use Of Cinematography In Desperado
Throughout Desperado cinematography is exhibited in a multitude of various ways that limits the
percentage of the diegesis that is shown. It is the deciding factor that determines what will and what
will not be in the film. The aspects of cinematography are utilized in constructing our emotions of the
film, directing our focus, and in creating the entirety of the space.
The camera is the main element in cinematography that directs our attention in different scenes. For
example, in the beginning of the film we see Bucemi enter a bar. As he tells the story of the unknown
man who killed everyone in the other bar, the camera goes back and forth to Bucemi s and the
bartender s face. This is done so that the auidience s attention is mainly on their facial expressions as
the story is being told. Another example is when the main character tells Carolina that Bucho s men
killed the women he loved and shot him in the hand. In this scene, a close up distance is used to show
only the mariachi s face. That way our concertation is solely on his face and the emotions that are
displayed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

truck that they drove approaching. The truck stops in front of him and the audience gets a close up of
Carolina s face. This shapes the audience s feelings in a way in that causes them to feel satisfied that
the mariachi and the girl will stay together. Another example is when Bucemi informs the bartender of
what he experienced in the other bar. There is a flashback of the event that shows the mariachi
walking into the bar. A shadow is casted over his face which alludes to his menacing and threating
character. This causes the audience to feel that he is dangerous and

Children are rapidly getting engulfed by this pandemic every day. According to the book Public Health 101: Health People Healthy Populations, pandemic can be defined as, An epidemic occurring worldwide, or over a very wide area, crossing international boundaries and affecting a large number of people (Riegelman, Kirkwood, 2015). The World Health Organization estimates that 43 million children worldwide are overweight or obese, with the United States leading the numbers (WHO, 2016). About one in three children and teenagers in America are obese. Obesity can lead to a variety of other serious health issues, such as diabetes, heart disease, asthma, high blood pressure, and other health risks. Finding effective interventions and programs to reverse obesity rates is essential. Obesity is one hundred percent preventable and treatable. Intervention Strategy 1: Obesity Prevention Programs Childhood obesity is continuing to grow at a rapid and dangerous pace. It is vital for the population to be educated on practicing a healthy life style to prevent obesity. A study done by C. • 3. The Wells Creek Impact Structure The Wells Creek Impact Structure: Impact Melts produces shock metamorphism in the target rock. Michael A. Burklow Department of Geology, University of Tennessee at Martin, Martin, Tennessee 38237, USA Abstract The Wells Creek structure was formed by a meteorite impact in Cumberland, Tennessee (36°〖23〗^ N,87°40 W) which is the northern part of Middle Tennessee. This region is known as the highland rim. The younger and older strata is exposed in two areas in the highland rim which means the older sediment has been eroded and much of the younger sediment remains. The impact produced a variety of structural features. The circular central block contains a circular core of megabreccia about 1520 meters (Ford, 2012). The impacted breccia is monomitic breccia, which is the result of rock deformation from the impact event. The breccia from Wells Creek is homogenous breccia that has been under intense movement and very high confining pressures. The angular Horst is an upthrown block between the two fault blocks and the inner Graben is a downthrown block near the central block (Ford, 2012). The larger impact structure is an anticline which is boarded by a second ring Syncline of the wells creek basin structure (Ford, 2012). The shock wave releases are large amounts of energy from the central point of impact moving outward forming ring anticlines and synclines. The impacted breccia matrix consists of angular fragmented chert, limestone, and dolomite. The wells creek ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Change Management Plan Running head: CHANGE MANAGEMENT PLAN Building a Culture for Sustaining Change at CrysTel Student Name University of Phoenix Introduction A reliable change management plan is often required to overcome workplace resistance when employees are presented with a new way of doing things. Change management is a strategy designed to transition from the status quo to some new ideal way of doing business. CrysTel, a growing telecommunications company, finds itself in a very dynamic industry that along with frequent advances in technology will dictate that it adapt to rapid and persistent changes. Developing a successful change management plan for CrysTel will have three distinct goals: optimize flexibility, promote innovation, and sustain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Regular feedback and proactive counseling help to effectively close information gaps between employees. The Marketing department suffers most from performance feedback at CrysTel. They do not have a strong mentoring process in place and there is an issue with delegation of responsibility here. 360 Degree Feedback provides accurate performance feedback to staff members who receive feedback from a boss, coworkers, and direct reporting staff. Done appropriately, it can boost performance and provide recognition and motivation (Debare, 1997). Because feedback is intimately related to the goal setting process, it involves the same behavioral outcomes: direction, effort, and persistence (Kreitner, 2003). Employees of Technology Development department at CrysTel are encouraged to approach a conflict resolution committee to address unresolved conflicts. Conversely, the Sales and Delivery department only allows conflicts or issues to be raised only during the semi annual performance review. This was indicative of a lower score than the other departments in this area on the climate survey. Multifunctional roles carried out by members of this department causes overlapping efforts and undefined responsibilities. Inadequate communication and teamwork make conflict resolution difficult. Problem solving is the only style that represents a purely win–win orientation (McShane, 2004). Problem solving tries to find a mutually beneficial solution for both ... To Live is to Be : Existentialism in Heart of Darkness, Lord Jim, and The Importance of Being Earnest During the modernist era of literature; a recurrent theme was prevalent in their works of art. The idea of existentialism revolving around the notion that you first experience life before you can begin to exist and understand yourself. This ideology stemmed from the main fear of the era; the end of the century. The fear of the unknown; the fear of what was to come in the following century (if it came) allowed for this ideology. When you believe time is running out, it puts a lot of things into perspective and allows for you to realize that while you might have certain values in life there are moments that will either solidify them or ... Throughout the entire trip people keep praising Kurtz (except the general manager) and this prepares Marlow for a very impressionable first impression. Marlow keeps thinking about Kurtz as this ideal man in the dark jungle. This of course is all shattered when Marlow meets him. Marlow, having hoped to meet someone who would not have been corrupted by the exposure of the jungle, meets Kurtz near death. This is moment of meeting is crucial for Marlow because it is turning point for his ideals. They meet the harsh truth that even the most idealistic, charismatic ones can be corrupted. Marlow loses his faith in his home and everything they represent because when he goes back, Marlow refuses to speak with people. He walks around disenchanted by the propaganda that Europe spews about Africa; and he is embittered that the people back home can not see through it. This shows how experiences shape who you become and how you identify in the world because that is the difference between Marlow and the common person back home: Marlow experience the Congo firsthand and therefore will always identify with those events. Similarly, Kurtz s values and perception of himself change through the realization of his final moments in his iconic last words: the horror, the horror (116). Howard Roark and Peter Keating, two men with similar goals, to become the greatest architect yet the two take completely different paths to achieve this goal, but who really achieved true success. The answer is simple, Howard Roark was the only one to achieve true success in the end. The paths of these two men were very clearly divided, Keating choose one of kissing butt and sacrificing all his morals just to succeed while Roark chooses a path of kick butt honesty and staying true to himself. If you haven t ever done that before then you are with 99.99% of the population. However, if one views a well crafted and carefully planned photograph they will actually honestly understand it. I qualify Susan Sontag s claim that All possibility of understanding is rooted in the ability to say no. Strictly speaking, it is doubtful that a photograph can help us to understand anything due to conflicting reasons. On one level, Sontag is correct because when people view an image they look at it in an extremely basic and simple way without looking at it from a different perspective. Most viewers wouldn t be able to see the real reason the photographer has shot the photo. It would be the literary equivalent of someone reading The Allegory of the Cave literally like a story about prisoners in cave staring at shadows instead of looking at the true meaning of the analogy. All Airbus planes employed fly by wire technology that substituted computerized control for mechanical linkages between the pilot and the aircraft s control surfaces. This technology combined with a common cockpit design permitted cross crew qualification (CCQ) whereby pilots were certified to fly similar aircrafts, thus offering flexible scheduling in flight crews on various models, leading to better pilot utilization and lower training costs. These features helped explain why Airbus had received over half of the total large aircraft orders for the first time in 1999. However, despite the gains in market share, Airbus still did not have a product to compete with the monopoly of Boeing s 747 in the VLA market. This comprises the main reason why Airbus is interested in building the A3XX. It attempts to create a dominant design that the market for large planes may pledge allegiance to, moving from simply product innovations to process improvements for the VLA. It does intend to just replicate the 747s and achieve a jumbo jet with the same capabilities. Rather, it aims to increase the seating capacity and reduce costs for the operators by so much more than what Boeing s alleged monopoly holds, with the objective of seizing the market ... • 13. The Testing Of Salivary Biomarkers Introduction: Although the testing of salivary biomarkers has yet to take hold in clinical settings, the research surrounding this science is promising. Ideally, in the future, patients will be able to submit saliva samples to their doctor or dentist to be tested for a variety of conditions which can be detected based on particular proteins or enzymes, et cetera. The hope is that these tests could lead to early disease detection and treatment. In this report, you will find the ways in which saliva can be gathered, as well as the known biomarkers for specific diseases, and the shortcomings and hopes for research in this field. Saliva Composition and Function: In this article, author Karthikeyan Murthykumar discusses the composition of saliva, as well as its ability to protect the mouth, and aid in digestion. The study performed identified the following details regarding saliva composition and function: Saliva is excreted through three different glands: parotid, submandibular, and sublingual. It is comprised of about 99% water, but contains a mixture of ions and proteins, such as sodium, potassium, calcium, chloride, magnesium, bicarbonate, phosphate, albumin, and some polypeptides. Before saliva is excreted through the glands, it is isotonic to blood plasma. However, once it exits the ducts of the glands, it is hypotonic. It is this hypotonicity that allows us to perceive flavor, by then mixing with ions and dissolving gustin. Gustin is a salivary protein which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, an adequate selection of the welding conditions can minimize the formation of the Nb rich Laves phases and consequently, reduce its susceptibility to solidification cracking. Therefore, it is also important to investigate the phase transformation process. Nowadays, researchers are evaluating the use artificial intelligence techniques to characterize microstructures. Most of the women at the ball are mainly there to marry a Prince most likely so that they may become wealthy and have everything that they have ever wanted in life. Sometimes this is similar in real life seeing as to how some women try to find rich men and to marry them by love, but in actuality all they are after are the man s money. It shows also how people do crazy things for wealth by how the step mother and step sisters react to sensing that Cinderella would end up with the Prince. They tried to hurt her, physically, emotionally, and mentally. They also lied and tried to trick people and it just goes to show how money changes people. In real life, this theme compares to how wealth corrupts people; showing how with the more money people receive, they usually become even more selfish, and continue to want more and more wealth. It shows the superficial side of wealth as well seeing as to how within the Cinderella stories show how fake the step sisters become when trying to manipulate the Prince. • 16. The Technology And Its Performance Advantages Abstract Nanofluids are another sort of warmth exchange medium, containing nanoparticles (1 100 nm), which are consistently and steadily distributed in a base liquid (Wang Mujumdar, 2007). Down scaling or scaling down has been a late major pattern in cutting edge science and innovation. Builds now manufacture miniaturized scale gadgets, for example, micro channel heat exchangers, and small scale pumps that are the measure of dust bits. Further significant advances would be gotten if the coolant streaming in the smaller scale channels were to contain nanoscale particles to upgrade heat exchange. Nanofluids innovation will in this way be a rising and energizing innovation of the 21st century. This paper gives explanation on the nanofluids technology and its performance advantages. It likewise depicts case of potential applications and characterizations of nanofluids. At long last, future examination on the fundamentals and utilizations of nanofluids are great (Wang Mujumdar, 2007). Introduction Purpose In this unit, the research paper makes a forty percent of the final grade and therefore this final report is significant to attaining the final grade. In this case, every student is mandated to complete a research proposal for a topic that makes the final project report. Bukuts Fort Mill High School Awakened to the Psychological Concepts Portrayed in Film The film Awakenings is an emotional film that tells the story of a doctor, named Dr. Malcolm Sayer played by Robin Williams, who starts work at a chronic hospital in the Bronx during the late 1960 s. As he examines patients at the hospital though he comes to observe a good many of them are experiencing the same symptoms of a being in a catatonic and unresponsive state yet still having the ability to react to certain stimuli. One patient in particular, named Leonard Lowe played by Robert De Niro, catches Sayer s attention and he decides to administer a new drug known as L Dopa in hopes of saving him from his coma like state. The drugs works and soon all of the once statuesque patients are reanimated, but only for a short time, and sadly soon Leonard and the rest of his fellow patients regress to their original catatonic state. However, although this films proves to be deeply emotional with an extremely touching story many concepts that relate to psychology are also present within it as well. Some concepts present within the film Awakenings are that of the principle of ethics, the frustration aggression theory, conformity, and also the idea of empathy altruism. • 18. An Exegesis Of Genesis 3 Essay The following essay I will be conducting an exegesis of Genesis 3; 1 12 in its ancient and modern context. I will be analysing themes that run throughout the text and the importance of these themes in identifying the meaning of this passage. Genesis 3 revolves around the fall of creation, in this essay I will analysing the fall and the roles the characters play in the fall and evaluate the fall of humanity and the implications this has modern society. Serpent is repeated throughout the Bible for example, Deuteronomy 32:33 ( Their wine is the venom of serpents, the deadly poison of cobras. ) and Job 20; 14 ( yet his food will turn sour in his stomach; it will become the venom of serpents within him. ) These are a few examples of this repetition , suggests that the serpent is important within the Bible however he is always mentioned in reference to evil. The serpent plays an important role in this passage , as he the instigator of the fall in which he tempts Eve to eat from the forbidden tree. He challenges the credibility of God by convincing Eve to eat from the tree, which presents God as being devious which contradicts the omnibenevolent God presented by Christianity. John E. Toews agrees as he argues that at the conclusion of the dialogue the issue is can God be trusted? Has God been completely truthful with humans? A pious question about God is really a very cunning question because it forces the woman to render a judgment about God. The serpent could be seen as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Michael Kinsley, Time Magazine reporter, Embryonic stem cell studies are controversial because they involve the destruction of human embryos. However, fertility clinics destroy far more human embryos than stem cell research ever would, yet they are not controversial. (http://www.time.com) Pro stem cell research scientists have found that citing fertility clinics as a similar field severely lessens the educated opposition against their work. This is because most pro life advocates and mainstream Christians are advocates for the use of fertility clinics to help struggling couples get pregnant. They view fertility clinics as a place to help create life, not take it. In this, I speak from personal experience, as many of my Christian friends and relatives have been in and out of fertility clinics throughout the years, attempting to procreate a being to love, raise, and care for. • 26. The Effect Of Temperature And Ph On The Enzyme Activity Of... The Impact of Temperature and pH on the Enzyme Activity of Catechol Oxidase in Solanum Tuberosum Samples Abstract The role of an enzyme is to catalyse reactions within a cell. The enzyme present in a potato (Solanum Tuberosum) is catechol oxidase. In this experiment, the enzyme activity was tested under different temperature and pH conditions. The objective of this experiment was to determine the ideal conditions under which catechol oxidase catalyses reactions. In order to do this, catechol was catalyzed by catechol oxidase into benzoquinone at diverse temperatures and pH values. The enzyme was exposed to its new environment for 5 minutes before the absorbance of the catechol oxidase was measured at 420 nm using a spectrophotometer. The use of a spectrophotometer was crucial for the collection of data in this experiment. When exposed to hot and cold temperatures, some enzymes were found to denature causing the activity to decrease. Similarly, when the pH was too high or low, then the catechol oxidase enzyme experienced a significant decrease in activity. It can be concluded after completing this experiment that the optimal pH for catechol oxidase is 7 and that the prime temperature is 20º C. Due to the fact that the catechol oxidase was only tested under several different temperatures and pH values, it is always possible to get a more precise result by decreasing the increments between the test values. For this reason, managers need to be able to adapt to and address the changing needs of not only their customs, but even more importantly, their employees. Change is always occurring, and the manner in which an employee s needs are attended to in present day society, is rather different from that of 100 years ago. The development from the 19th and early 20th century management strategies, to the current management understanding, was not a change that occurred overnight. It was a gradual movement from the earliest management philosophy, the Classical Perspective, to the Scientific Management Approach, to today s Humanistic Perspective. Developed in the 19th century, the Classical Perspective addressed the issue of maximizing efficiency. Historically, during this time period, a majority of people in the workforce were immigrants with no previous training or knowledge of the jobs they were set to perform. Thus, managers were burdened with the task of converting these unskilled workers into employees who performed their jobs correctly and in a timely manner, despite cultural barriers, in attempt to turn businesses into efficient operating machines. He claims his innocence and even presents to God specific deeds he has done throughout his life (29:1 25). Joe on the other hand wants her back but she refuses, and in the last scene of the play we see that Joe makes the effort and goes out to Greece to win Shirley back. Because both scripts are designed for different purposes the dialogue in each one is very different. In Billy Liar the dialogue is quite lengthy and quite adult, proper and formal in the way it is constructed. This would be down to the time at which it was written. In the 1960 s the Lord Chancellor was very tough on censorship. Any swearing or even slightly risqué images were changed or censored completely. The strongest word used within the play is probably bloody which Geoffrey says a lot and even this, is a bit close to the bone . Enid Schildkrout s Into The Heart Of Africa Into the Heart of Africa was an infamous exhibition at the Royal Ontario Museum in 1989 that made its way into textbooks as an example of cultural appropriation. The exhibition advertised itself as the first major African exhibition in Toronto and aimed to be a critical examination of the relationship between Ontario and Africa at the turn of the century (Burret 2004: p. 127). Through the juxtaposition of provocative colonial imagery and artifacts with critical texts and ironic captions, the exhibition challenges dominant colonial narratives regarding Africa (p. 132). From a post colonial perspective, this practice is both harmful and hegemonic systematically devaluing the cultures of minority groups and casting them as exotic or mysterious. Some scholars argue that despite the exhibition s intentions, members of the general public do often trust museums as authoritative sources, and were thus shocked by exhibit s the violent images and seemingly colonial presentation of African artifacts.
