Reflection Of My Paintings
My paintings are a reflection of my personal experiences and my imagination. My aim to paint is not
just to master the technique but to feel and connect with the subject.
By balancing the art of memory and personal experience, I create works that narrate a story. I believe
my works are just like novels. Each painting is a different chapter from my life. These visual
compositions may not be the exact representation of the particular event but they do symbolize the
incident. I create with daily, recognizable elements, a situation in which the viewer is also a part of the
work and he is confronted with the conditioning of his own perception and has to reconsider his biased
position.

where time is money, if I am able to make the viewer stop for a minute, I think I ve earned an
achievement. Many people do come to me asking me to explain me work because the mystery in the
work is upsetting them. The image will inspire you or haunt you. So if I m able to make the viewer
leave with an experience, I think I m happy.

Creating A Planner
Whether it s through memory loss, aging or sheer forgetfulness, it can be hard to remember your life s
To Do list. Life can be so stressful at times that you might want to forget what you need to do.
However, if you create a planner, you ll simultaneously free your mind to focus on task completion
instead. To create a planner you ll actually use, consider these three tactics.
1. Take a look at your goals.
Write down all the things you d like to accomplish this year. Whether the goal involves losing weight,
saving money or going on a vacation, write it down. In order to succeed with a goal, you ve got to
break it down into bite size chunks. When you break the big goal down and create a plan, you re more
likely to accomplish it. For example, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you have a family, they probably have their own schedules as well. It s not fun when you realized
you ve forgotten something important to attend or do. When you keep a planner, you ll have a better
chance of remembering important dates and tasks. Look at your planner as your personal assistant.
Just before you head to bed each night, pull out the planner and take a look at what you have
scheduled for the following day. If there are any additions, you ll want to write them down at this
time. This one habit can really help you center your mind and mentally prepare yourself for what the
day has to offer. A planner also takes the guesswork out of the equation. By maintaining a planner, you
ll know what s next.
3. Use visual cues.
If you love colorful stickers or brightly colored pens, use them in your planner. Visual stimulation can
really motivate you to look and see what s going on in your planner. If you love motivational quotes,
try to find a planner that has a few already etched in. It s all about incorporating the things you love so
you can accomplish the things you ve set out to do.
Overall, having a system to keep you organized is always beneficial in more ways than one. A planner
is merely the best tool to keep everything in one place. After using this tool for a few weeks, you ll
quickly realize how helpful it is and how much you need it in your

Nobody Never Gets To Heaven And Nobody Gets No Land Analysis
The quote from the book, Nobody never gets to heaven, and nobody gets no land (74), subtlety
explains an underlying detail to the grand theme regarding the American Dream in the story Of Mice
and Men by John Steinbeck. The statement mentioned by Crooks, one of the characters that had once
sought for the dream, sums up the theme that humanity keeps chasing the same objective of living a
successful life, yet it remains unachievable. The plot of the story revolves around George and Lennie,
a pair of migrant farmers that work towards their personal dream of owning personal land for by
working on a ranch where they must attempt to cooperate with the multiple personalities of the other
workers to gain enough money to leave the ranch for their dream. Throughout the story, multiple
characters strive for the American Dream, seeking fulfillment in their lives, but achievement of the
dream proved to be insurmountable by the experience of Curley s wife, George, and Crooks. Curley s
wife never accomplished her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Curley s wife relied on the possibility that her dream would come true, though the opportunity had
clearly passed while also living a life without any genuine friends. Likewise, George always
subconsciously felt that he could never own his own land with Lennie because there wasn t a
sufficient margin for error to accommodate for Lennie s inevitable mistakes. Finally, as strongly as
Crooks sought equality, he knew there was no real leniency for change because his position in life
would always be definite. Overall, an analytical reader of this story can reveal the darker, depressing
side to not only the book, but the American Dream as a whole. The audience can learn that no matter
how hard you try to change fate, the overall outcome will not be

What Is A Day At The Piqua City Pool Essay
A Day at the Piqua City Pool The spring of 2017 I came across a great summer job opportunity. My
best friend, Hailey McPherson, worked at the Piqua City Pool the summer before. She told me it was a
fun job and an easy way to make some money. Going into my junior year, I knew that it was time to
save up money for my future. Taking Hailey s suggestion into consideration, I went to the city
building to get an application. Once I got home, I started filling out the application and I was so
confused. The paper required so much information that I didn t know. Finally, I asked my mom for
help. When I had everything completed, I had to get three references. I went to all my coaches because
they are the people that know me best. Next, I went back ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My coworker broke up the ice and scoop it into a bowl. Then, they would hand the bowl to me and I
would dump it into the top of the machine. This job was very tedious and one of my least favorite
things to do. After that, I would pour the liquid into the slushy machine so it could freeze. Next, I
would fill the three washing sinks. The left sink was for warm soapy water and the middle sink was
empty for rinsing. The right sink was filled with diluted bleach. Right before open, 11:00, I would put
the hot dogs on the rollers. When the pizza arrived, I would put them into the warmers. When
everything was finished, my coworker and I would sit and wait for customers.
On most days the pool wasn t extremely busy. Typically, I would only get busy during adult swim s.
The kids piled in line waiting with their wet dollars. I usually was the runner, not the cashier. The
cashier took the money and sometimes made drinks. The runner would get all the food prepared. I
always had to be wearing gloves. Anytime I touched anything but food, I had to get new ones.
Usually, I had all the food prepared, but when it gets really busy we runout. Sometimes I would have
to heat up the pretzels or hot dogs in the microwave. I hated when that would happen because I would
have to run from the staff room back to the concession stand. After an adult swim, I had to fill up a
bucket with soapy water and go wash the tables outside. The kids made the worst messes! I found
things like dried cheese,

The Reality Of The Beholder From The Ancient Dialogues...
What is Reality? I plan on discussing each section of this essay; however, they do coincide with each
other in the topic. I will try to explain my reasoning on how they would question relates to one
another. First, what is the difference between appearance and reality? What is the reality of being in a
new place, instead of being in a society of other people around you? Does one person think they can
another s perception of their world? Does everything lead to good, and what is good in the eye of the
beholder from the ancient dialogues from Plato and Socrates? Lets starts from the beginning, by
distinguishing the difference between reality and appearances. Is it something that is done by everyone
on a daily basis? Whether it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another way of thinking of reality and appearance is the theory of idealism. Idealism is only things
that really exist are our minds and their ideas. An Irish Bishop named George Berkeley view of
idealism is ...though it were possible that solid, figured, moveable substances may exist without the
mind... yet how [could we] know this? Either we must know it by sense or by reason. (Rachels
Rachels, 2012, p. 128). Berkeley also goes to mention that our senses comes our knowledge of
sensations and ideas that come from the mind, and our reason is for us to believe in the existence of
physical objects that is a necessary connection between the physical world and our ideas. Another
approach is direct versus indirect realism, which deals with the perception of our reality or mental
state. Direct idealism deals with common sense and with the facts of things; however, indirect
idealism is the opposite of which it holds the idea of perception of something with our idea of an
object that we are aware of. Now, how is reflecting with Plato s story of the Allegory of the Cave, and
reality and appearance the same? In the story of the Allegory of the Cave, goes with the following
understanding of the Cave. The cave is a world where prisoners live chained to the ground, and the
captors cast shadows on the wall and these shadows construct reality for the prisoners. One of the
prisoners is freed by the

Brave New World Government
Government: this word is used to define the system that maintains the state and her people. This
system is run by officials who, hopefully, have the nation s best interest at heart; but these best
interests for a country often find themselves conflicting in their particular perspectives. In the novel
Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, the government has chosen to preserve the interest of state and
this dystopia is the result of mankind choosing the wrong faction in the conflict of interest. To clarify,
the principles, theories and arguments presented here in are democratic in orientation and not
communistic, because the arguments aim toward freedom and rights. Those in control in Brave New
World have misguided the nation s populace into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is quite possibly the biggest flaw in Huxley s Brave New World: mankind now controls and
predestines the people that inhabit their world, and the price for this control has become progress. A
society built on the basis of Community, Identity, Stability will never be able to face the ever
changing, fickle nature of humanity. In order to preserve control they must therefore eliminate
evolution. They have stolen evolution s format: the world and mankind will forever be stuck in the
small cage of Brave New World, and in essence this eliminates anything that is truly either brave or
new.
In conclusion, it is safe to say that Huxley s utopia went about achieving its status in the wrong way.
Mankind has lost its free will to the controlling powers of a system. This system cannot be called
government, as it is more akin in characteristics to slavery. Man no longer has freewill and order is
kept not through respect and intellect, but via degeneration and conduct. The former sections of this
essay present strategies and techniques used to maintain order in a society of individuals. Finally, it
may be argued that the Brave New World protects society by locking them in a cage of ignorance;
however, this is at the cost of freedom, and this is unacceptable. Mankind needs be free in order to
progress as has been explained. Protection is all well and good but not at the cost of

Living Space The Size Of Your Closet
How would you feel being confined to a living space the size of your closet? Animals in captivity are
often kept in situations vastly too small or unfit for their needs, for example elephants need about 100
acres of space, but the standard requirement is only about 1,800 sq. ft. (which isn t even a fourth of
one acre) (Cohn). Generally, you d start to question the effects this may have on mental and physical
health, as you probably couldn t fathom living in a broom closet. Captivity has a negative connotation,
bringing up thoughts of animals being held against their will, but by definition means animals that live
under human care . So most people could argue that their house pets aren t living in horrible, unfit
situations, although they re technically in captivity, just as elephants in a zoo. The benefits of captivity
(like in zoos or aquariums), as stated by Rick Block, is that it is a valuable source of public education
and can help promote conservationism and a better understanding of the effects we have on wildlife,
and can also help counteract animal endangerment through captive breeding, says Jeffery P. Cohn; on
the other hand it brings up questions on the conditions animals are kept in, like elephants in zoos,
which Cohn highlights, to the situations circus trained animals are put in, detailed by PETA, and CNN
and the Humane Society touch on the neurotic inducing effects captivity may have on killer whales.
The best way to combat the deterioration of animal

Oligopoly Market Failure
In micro economics market failure is characterized by resource misallocation and subsequent Pareto
inefficiency. Just as the invisible hand falters, so is the case that the unregulated markets are incapable
of solving all economic problems. In laissez faire economy, market models mainly monopolistic,
perfect competition and oligopoly are expected to efficiently allocate resources for the welfare benefit
of the society. However individualistic and selfish private interests divert the public benefits thereby
prompting government intervention to correct the imperfection which may lead to disastrous
economic impact. Although corrective intervention policies by government may not necessarily
address the underlying imperfection induced by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Competition failure or monopoly may result from natural monopoly where it costs incurred in
production becomes lower when only one firm is involved in production than several firms producing
the same output. In a monopolist market under production, higher prices become dominant
contributing to market inefficiency. Winston cites cases of misuse of monopoly power can lead to
market failures and sometimes may lead to acute shortage of essential commodities (130).
Coordination failures by private markets are perceived to contribute significantly in inefficiency.
Negative externalities like environmental pollution and positive externalities like focusing on public
benefits and ignoring the private benefits significantly contribute to market failures. Fundamental
questions have been raised to determine the appropriate time government intervention is required and
the magnitude of inefficiency to warrant supposedly intervention or to let the market correct itself.
Stiglitz, argued that inefficient government microeconomic policies to address the market gap often
tends to exacerbate the existing problem or yield unproductive results in the economy (34).
Market failure Correction The principal of Pareto efficiency dictates that market failure is a product of
making other individuals worse than they were found. To

Peaceful Resistance In Henry David Thoreau s Civil...
In a free society such as the United States, peaceful resistance usually comes in the form of peaceful
protests such as people marching in the streets or people staying put in a public area for symbolic
reasons. Peaceful resistance of this form is allowed because the government of this country seems to
support an ideal set forth in Henry David Thoreau s Civil Disobedience: That government is best
which governs least. In other words, the role of government is to protect the individual freedoms of its
people, and the constitution that the United States government adheres to works to protect those
individual freedoms, including the freedom of speech. Therefore, peaceful resistance in the form of
peaceful protests are protected by the constitution. And even when peaceful protests cause individuals
to break laws, these actions can bear fruits of justice and advancement within society.

Historical Reliability Of The Story Of Jesus
We often approach the Gospels with tightly held presuppositions. Many people, myself included,
believe that the Gospels are a reliable historical resource. The Story of Jesus documentary both
undergirds and challenges these presuppositions. The historicity of the Gospels is a thread which
underlies the entirety of the Christian faith. The reliability of the Gospels is integral to the life and
ministry of Christ. If the Gospels are not historically reliable we lose the largest historical witness to
Christ, therefore rendering our belief unprovable and thus void to the world at large. The historic
reliability of the Gospels is significant to the life and ministry of Christ because it is the very thing that

Copyright In Graphic Design Essay
The Importance of Copyright in Graphic Design
Copyrights are necessary for protecting the ideas of people. Protecting ideas mean that other people
are not given the right to make money off of one s ideas. Most of the time graphic designers, artist,
photographers, etc. go to school to be better at what they do and people stealing their ideas is
something that needs to stop. They pay to make more money in their future careers and people are just
taking that money away from them. It also causes people to lose their jobs.

Even though a copyright holder has rights in a work, those rights, with limited exception, cannot be
enforced through the courts unless the work is registered with the U.S. Copyright Office. Without

If your company owns a copyright on any work that s registered with the U.S. Copyright Office, it can
seek a court injunction that commands the infringing party to immediately cease and desist publication
or performance of the work in question. This action is immediate. It moves much more quickly than
criminal or civil proceedings against an infringing party, and it can at least stop additional losses due
to copyright infringement. (20) Wilhelm Schnotz writes in his article Pros Cons of Copyright Laws.
If a copyright has been infringed, the owner may sue the infringer in federal court, seeking an
injunction against future violations of the copyrights. The owner may recover actual damages, which
are losses plus the infringer s profits from use of the copyrighted work. Or, any time before a court
issues a final judgment, the owner can elect to receive a set amount in damages as defined in the
copyright statute, in lieu of actual

While American and British authors developed the two distinct schools of detective fiction, known as

The Alamo Essay
The Alamo
To the people of Texas and all Americans in the World:
I shall never surrender or retreat ... I Am determined to sustain myself as long as possible and die like
a soldier who never forgets what it is due to his honor and that of his country VICTORY OR DEATH.
This was a letter sent by William Barret Travis during the siege of the Alamo on February 24, 1836. It
was a cry for help to anybody and everybody willing to listen.
It all started in 1830 with Stephen Austin, a leader of American pioneers in the wild, living in Texas,
under the rule of the Mexican government, who had solved two major problems that the settlers had
with the government. The colonist were now allowed to keep slaves in Texas, even though no other ...

In the fall of 1835 Santa Anna had sent more troops, under the leadership of his brother in law General
Martin Cos, to Texas in order to enforce the immigration laws. Austin and some soldiers had
surrounded settlements in Mexican territory and were considered by the government to be rebels.
Mexico had no choice but to attempt to use military forces.
Thirty thousand Texans were willing to fight against a nation of seven million. They did not receive
any government aid from the United States but sympathetic Southern states secretly sent troops.
The war began with battle of the Lexington of the Texas revolution taken place on October 2, 1835.
This little battle consisted of one hundred Mexican troops sent to Gonzales, a town east of San
Antonio, to order the settlers to surrender their only cannon. The soldiers said come and take it and
eventually they killed one Mexican soldier. The war had begun.
More and more Texans answered the call to arms such as Ben Milan a soldier of the War of 1812,
James Bowie who was know for his knife, Sam Houston and Stalwart Davy Crockett both former
soldiers and congressmen. The name that would lead them all William Barrette Travis.

What Are Children Considered Adults
The topic of when children and teenagers should be considered adults is very controversial, and has
always been. However, the answer seems to be clear when you look at how the human body develops
and the changes it goes through; one is an adult once the body, especially the brain, is finished going
through the major developments of puberty and early years. Some may say that people could be
considered adults when they re just 16 years old, or sometimes younger than that. However, during
that time, a child will likely still be going through puberty, which causes the entire body to change and
grow. Sexual organs will develop, the child will grow larger, and hormones like testosterone will be
released into the body. There is an area in the brain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

developing under too much pressure can cause mental disorders, such as depression or anxiety. Put

The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board
The Sarbanes Oxley Act created the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) to

public interests in the preparation of informative, fair, and independent audit reports . (The PCAOB)
Although the PCAOB is a private sector organization, it has many government like regulatory

Many firms are upset by this rule because of its limitations. However, I believe that this new rule is a
good idea. Previous engagements between firms and clients have been given a large notice of when
the rule will be in effect. They are given plenty of time to finish their engagements. This new rule may
allow small firms more possibilities to increase their clientele. We may be moving away from having a
small number of large firms doing all the services to having many firms providing the services. Also,
Rule 3523 will ensure independence.
Another issue that has arisen since the establishment of the PCAOB is the increased compliance costs.
In 2007, the PCAOB has been awarded a budget of 136,429,000 dollars by the SEC. Of that amount,
79,514,000 dollars will be used to pay for salaries. (The PCAOB) The PCAOB s budget is paid by
public companies through fees and audit firms through fines. These fines can reach 100,000 dollars for
individual auditors and up to 2 million dollars for audit firms. Many firms have increased their audit
fees due to the increase in costs, partly due to the PCAOB. The PCAOB continues to grow each year.
Their powers and responsibilities continue to grow, which in turn will lead to a larger budget. The
SEC should take into consideration these additional fees for businesses and auditing firms when they
determine the salaries of employees. The average salary for each employee is over 150,000 dollars,

incomprehensible and poorly arranged words and messages. The problem of using slang in writing

Examples of components made using this process include gears and bearings (Kaushish, 2008).
The steps involved in powder metallurgy include production of powders, powder mixing, compaction,
sintering and finally secondary operations. Powder production is the first step, and it involves the
application of different methods (such as grinding or atomization) to obtain powders from metals or
non metals. The powder s chemical composition, size and shape are analyzed (Kaushish, 2008).
Powders are usually potential hazards, such as being flammable, and thus they should be handled with
safety precaution.
Mixing of powders usually involves the addition of alloying elements, pressing lubricant, binders, and
other substances. The uniform distribution of the particles is emphasized in order to obtain a processed
part with uniform density. Compaction involves forming the mixed powder into a compact of
desirable shape and size. Whereby, the powder is pressed in a rigid enclosure which comprises of die
and punches. Sintering involves using a protective atmosphere to heat the compact to a temperature
below the melting point of the major constituent. The secondary operations are finally used to obtain a
good finish.
Conclusively, powder metallurgy is a crucial manufacturing process that enables the production of
components which cannot be produced

my parents were summoned to school and I went to the hospital to get a cast. Devastation struck me as
the doctor proclaimed that I was not going to play sports until the cast came off. During the first few
days wearing the cast, I tended to sit around and wallow in self pity. Then, I realized that, if I was not
allowed to enjoy myself, I might as well do something productive. So, I picked up the book nearest
me, which happened to be Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief. I was dreading the hours of
boredom I was about to face. However, as I began to read, I realized that reading was more enjoyable
than simply running around. When I read, I was transformed into a new character every time. Each
book allowed me to experience a new lifestyle. No other form of entertainment was quite as thrilling.
Over the summer, my cast came off, but, due to the wonderful novels I read while my cast was still on,
I maintained a lifelong love of reading new

What Are The Achievements Of African Kingdoms Before...
African Kingdoms Before Europeans The achievements of the African kingdoms and cities were
better before the arrival of the Europeans. The Niger River created a place where all the kingdoms
could trade, since the kingdoms were all around it and made a way to transport goods. The salt and
gold trade was a way so one place that had to much gold and had very little of salt would get the salt
they need and the opposite for the other city state. Mansa Musa was so generous that he made the gold
worth go down by giving out so much gold. The western African kingdoms had achievements like the
salt and gold trade, the Niger River to help them trade along with, and Mansa Musa that gave out gold
and helped Mali become twice the size it was. The salt and

How Does Sheila Change In An Inspector Calls
Sheila is the most influential and pivotal character of the play An Inspector Calls . Sheila shows how
and to what degree a person or people in society can change and how it can affect people around each
other and the world. We are introduced to the Birling family just as they are all celebrating Sheila s
engagement to Gerald, son of Lord Croft. Sheila is initially presented an excitable girl in her early
twenties, ignorant, self centred and rather pleased with life . One could concur that Sheila is originally
a materialistic person as she seems to take a deep interest in the engagement ring Gerald has presented
her as she seems to lose all interest in conversation, afterwards declaring that she was listening . This
trait reflects that of her father at family table, it is clear Mr Birling is not just celebrating the happiest
night, of his life because of Sheila s supposed love ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He makes many references to the benefits of business due to the partnership between the Birling s and

horrid suicide of a girl named Eva Smith who killed herself by drinking disinfectant . Although this
method of suicide is truly horrid or any suicide at all for that matter, Sheila s initial reaction is very
dismissive, she simply responds to the inspector: I wish you hadn t told me, giving the reader the
impression that she is ignorant and uncultivated. However later she insists that Birling s staff are not
just workers and they re people . This remark shows a dramatic change in Sheila s behaviour as she is
presented to be very compliant by her Fathers rules, Sheila will you give the men a moment , (not

not dominated by patriarchy. Priestly purposefully

The Pros And Cons Of The Milky Way
E.T. phone home : this quote has been very popular for decades now (Verhoeven). Ever since Steven
Spielberg directed the movie E.T. in the 1980 s, this movie caused an up rise about extra terrestrial
life. Because of this movie, people started to realize other life might exist beyond our own planet. In
addition, this caused xenophobes to start rising around the world. With many so called encounters with
aliens in Earth s atmosphere for many millenniums now, does this serve as proof aliens exist? The
Milky Way in which we live in is expanding 3.25 million light years per second (Moskowitz). By the
time you finish reading this paper, the Milky Way will have expanded by 1.9 million light years. This
might be a lot but the closest galaxy to the Milky Way is 13.2 billion light years away. This means
there is a chance extra terrestrial life might exist by the time you finish reading this paper. While
saying this, the galaxy is made up of two hundred billion stars in which NASA has discovered. Each
of these stars has at least one planet orbiting it. By saying this if the Sun has one habitable planet
orbiting it, what is the chance of another star having a habitable planet circling it? Peter Behroozi, a
Hubble fellow at the University of California Berkley talks about this issue, For every grain of sand
there is, there are ten other planets out there like Earth (Cofield). Astronomers have only seen our

Advantages Of Binaural Beats
Binaural means to listen with two ears. In 1839, a physicist named Heinrich Wilhelm Dove discovered
that a person hears the sound of continuous beats when waves of two different frequencies are
introduced to his both ears simultaneously.
Since then binaural beats has kept gaining popularity. Especially, in the past few years a lot of people
have become too interested in it due to the buzz created by some advertisers that it can help people to
enhance their mind power.
Today people are widely using binaural beats for meditation because of its utility in taking a person

effective in changing one brain s state to a great extent still the benefits that I am going to write below
are not research based, these are just some common advantages lot of people have had with the use of

In The Heat Of The Night Analysis
In this paper, I will be explaining my thoughts on the Cavell arguments on classical and modernist
films about movies black and white in comparison to the movies in color, with the reference to Sunset
Boulevard (1950) and In the Heat of the Night (1967).
Cavell beliefs in movies black and white is that you pay attention to the details of the film, which
include the storylines, and the content of what it is in the frame, while movies in color can be
distracting; it is considered appealing and attractive, but it can take away from the subject matter of
the story. Cavell s states film has been moving into the modernist environment inhabited for
generations by the other major arts (Cavell 60); he continues to say that each arts among, had ... Show

Take for example the in the movie Sunset Boulevard (1950); the Norma Desmond s character (Gloria
Swanson), was portrayed a very rich woman who starred in a lot of silent movies back in her adult
life. Upon showing the inside view of her mansion, it was lacking the essence of opulence one would
expect, due to the movie being in black and white; the descriptions of her wealth and possessions
made by William Holden s character (Joe Gills) in my perspective did not do as much justice as it
would have been if it was screened in color. Even though, traditional movies move with times (Cavell
61), the same can be achieved in movies in color; take for example the movie secret garden (1949),
this movie started off with gloomy and similar effect as the Sunset Boulevard (1950); however, at the
end color was thrown in to lay emphasis on what the main idea of the movie was about the (garden).
Gardens are expected to be beautiful and make one feel at ease; my observation between both movies
is that one is dark and was meant to end that way in the mystery which it did, while the other started
off pained and ended in joy because the garden technically coming to life in full

Women, Ageism, and Poverty in Canada

Women, Ageism and Poverty in Canada
Women have benefitted greatly from the efforts of Feminism. The three waves of feminism have given
women the vote, control over their bodies, freedom of choice, the right to pursue higher education,
empowerment, the ability to identify areas of inequality, the right to attain male dominated jobs and
the right to expect equal pay for work of equal value. Women have fought hard to obtain the tools to
rise above the glass ceiling. For all that feminism has accomplished, there are still areas that need
more consideration. Until recently, feminism had concentrated on females who were in the
reproductive stage of their lives. The aging female was hardly considered. As the second wave of ...

The failure of second wave feminists to address ageism earlier in the women s rights movement has
resulted in a remaining gender based gap facing the older woman.
Women are burdened with many obstacles to achieve equality in the work place. In the corporate and
professional spheres, there are barriers to promotion, validation and acceptance. One of these
obstacles is ageism,
and the perceptions that older women work less effectively than young women and men. The CEDAW
(Convention
on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women) recognizes that women suffer ageism as one of
many forms of
discrimination (Begum, n.d. p. 1). For older women the stereotyped image is frail, doddering,
wrinkled and slow
both physically and mentally. Diversiton states that this is seen in greeting cards with phrases like over
the
hill and don t be an old fuddy duddy and jokes that are concerned with cognitive decline, death and
lack of
sexual interest. Emphasizing youthful appearance demeans being older.
http://www.diversiton.com/Ageism/AgeDiversity.asp) Older men are seen differently. According to
the blog
Cougar Women, men have silver hair while women have gray hair and older men are considered
distinguished
looking, while older women, no matter how beautiful, still just look older (Julie, April 22, 2011).
Gender ageism
can be directly attributed to male roles and attitudes.

Speech On Freedom Of Speech
Although the radical left should denounce social injustice, they often tend to forget the important
historical connection to freedom of speech. It is important to realize that, abolitionists, labor activists;
religious group minorities, communists and socialists, cultural critics, gays, and lesbians... all were
victims of limited free speech.(Gillman) Perhaps the lack of historical understanding of free speech
from the radical left is fathomable. However, a lack of historical knowledge of such an important right
remains unacceptable. Although, the events that shaped our forefathers unbreakable respect for our
first amendment were of high importance, such as the civil rights movement. Millennial s historical
reference for the fight for free speech has not been absent in the 21st Century. In particular, the battle
for equal marriage rights for Gay and Lesbians happened only at the turn of the century. Overall, if the
racial left can dismiss the historical importance of freedom of speech, it is no wonder they do not
realize the tremendous right college students risk losing.
College campuses demand equality amongst all students. In contrast, the daily wire reported that out
450 colleges in the United States 40 percent have free speech codes that go against the first
amendment (Devlin). Due to their government funding, universities must respect the first amendment.

King George III And The Quartering Act In 1765
Section 1: Ans 1: a. King George III: King George III, the British monarch, wanted to enforce the
proclamation and also keep peace with Britain s Native American allies. Britain owed a large debt
from the French and Indian War. He decided to keep 10,000 soldiers in the colonies. Keeping troops in
the colonies would raise that debt even higher. Britain needed more revenue, or income, to meet its
expenses. Earlier, he would pass these expenses as taxes, but later the parliament didn t allow him. b.

The Iraqi Culture Essay
The Iraqi Culture In recent years, the Iraqi nation has endured a crisis that will forever remain in the
hearts and minds of the Middle Eastern culture. However, the outcomes of the War on Iraq will not
change the long lasting and passionate traditions and memories that have been held in the country for
decades. One major event that happened in Iraq s history is that on October 3, 1932 Iraq was
established as an independent nation. Iraq has always been a country in which respect and generosity
have been highly valued and play an important cultural role in everyday life. Additionally,
approximately ninety five percent of Iraqis are Muslim, and therefore Islam is the official religion of
this nation (Gutierrez 1). Furthermore, Iraq is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the year of 1991, the phrase Allahu Akbar, meaning God is great, was added to the faithful flag of
Iraq (Culture of Iraq 2). Lastly, the War on Terror has been a very unfortunate happening for the entire
world, but even more so specifically for those living in the Middle East. After the United States
invaded Iraq due to the belief that they had weapons of mass destruction, Saddam Hussein was killed,
and the country was forever changed. Three of the many cultural practices in Iraq include food,
marriage, and education. In the Middle East the the traditional meal includes rice with soup or sauce,
and accompanied by lamb and vegetables (Culture of Iraq 4). Traditionally in Iraq, having an arranged
marriage at a young age was a standard procedure. As of roles in the family, girls were mostly taught
to take after the roles of their mothers, which was to take care of the household. On the other hand
boys were taught to be hard working and dominate. In Iraq, their schools teach children about religion
and were very strict. A critical factor in everyday life for them is to hold values and claim
responsibility for themselves and their families. The majority of Iraqis practice the Muslim religion
but there is still a small percentage of Iraqis that practice the Christian religion. For example, every
Friday afternoon, Muslims gather at the Mosque to pray (Ghabra 10). On the other hand, for
Christians, Sundays are a holy day for prayer

The Legalization Of Abortion In The United States
Abortion, one of the most controversial ongoing issues, has become common in the United States.
There are a lot of reasons defending the legalization of abortion. However, understanding the medical
information and perspectives on abortion can solve this controversial issue. Unlike the common
knowledge that abortion is performed in an unsafe setting and has the potential long term
complications, abortion is actually performed by professions and has few complications if it is
performed within twelve weeks of pregnancy. First of all, abortion is a method to terminate a
pregnancy by using medicine or surgery to remove the fetus from the uterus. It always has been a part
of human culture since long time ago. One of the most common reasons of ... Show more content on

However, the beginning of human life cannot be determined and extends beyond the knowledge of
medicine. The problem of the moral status of the fetus is done by experiences, religious and
philosophical beliefs, moral belief, and so on. Medicine does not ability to establish when the moral
status on the fetus occurs. Moreover, the fetus within 12 weeks is not fully developed, so arguing
about the fetus s moral fetus is somewhat unreasonable and unnecessary. According to Elizabeth
Harman, inaccessible facts determine a fetus s moral status. We can t ever know how to treat an early
fetus, because we can t be sure of its moral status. (Harman). Furthermore, the fetuses cannot feel pain
during abortion (Rosenfield). According to Stuart W. G. Derbyshire, necessary to the development of
pain experience is also yet to occur. (Derbyshire), and there is no evidence that brain and neurological
system are developed enough even at twenty four weeks for the fetus to experience pain (Rosenfield).
Arguing about something that has not proven is not right. Even though today s medical techniques
have been developing rapidly, there are certainly some concepts that cannot be proven with them.
Abortion may be performed naturally or artificially. Abortion that occurs within the first twenty weeks
is called a miscarriage and after twenty weeks is called a stillbirth. The types of surgical abortion
procedure are varied on the stage

Containment in Boxes
A box without hinges, key, or lid, yet golden treasure inside is hid.
J. R. R. Tolkien The box is a ubiquitous object, a box of some kind or another can be found in every
culture. For the purpose of this essay it will look at the box from a western viewpoint. Given the
perimeters of this essay I will confine the discussion of the box to Art Therapy, as it is made,
appointed or constructed in the art therapy context; and instead of clinical studies I will be using art as
examples. Boxes appear in all cultures and times, their uses range from hiding, to safe keeping; from
precious to the mundane, The coffin to the bread box. Boxes have become modern man s ways of
organising their office, house, garage, and under the bed secrets. You can shop at stores dedicated
entirely to boxes of all shapes and sizes; The Container Store in the USA, is a great example of this,
an almost obsessive need the Western modern man has to contain things. Might there be some deeper
unmet needs being communicated through this desire to contain the physical things in ones life? True
a way of organising, but could it also be a way of finding physical structure and space just by putting
on a lid and sliding it into a slot under a bed, or into a closet? The ability to controls one s own chaos
without too much work or introspection. Could it be possible that western people find organising and
putting things into containers de stressing because it gives the feeling of having

Persuasive Essay On Winning Games
The thrill of winning a trophy for the first time is always memorable, however, it brings up the
question: Is receiving an award for participating just as exciting? Participation awards are a topic
highly debated among those of all ages, with none agreeing on a single answer. Individuals who are
under the impression that they are essential believe they boost a child s confidence and self esteem.
This may be true in some cases, but these trophies could be doing more harm than good. Although in
the moment they may appear to be wholesome, they have a lasting effect on children as they grow
older. Many children put loads of effort into winning awards, which is belittled by participation
trophies that are not only unhelpful and unrewarding, but don t teach them the important values
learned by losing.
Of course, participation trophies take away from the true meaning of receiving an award and enjoying
the sport. Her daughter rarely showed up for her soccer team. She had a terrible attitude, Dweck says.
In spite of that, at the end she got a giant trophy and would have been devastated had she not (Turner).
Children who put no effort into the sport or activity they have joined still receive an award for being a
part of it. This is extremely unfair to those who actually worked hard to make their team successful
because it rewards the kids who were barely even engaged in the sport. We need look no further than
the 2011 World Series for the value of earning trophies

  • 2. Reflection Of My Paintings My paintings are a reflection of my personal experiences and my imagination. My aim to paint is not just to master the technique but to feel and connect with the subject. By balancing the art of memory and personal experience, I create works that narrate a story. I believe my works are just like novels. Each painting is a different chapter from my life. These visual compositions may not be the exact representation of the particular event but they do symbolize the incident. I create with daily, recognizable elements, a situation in which the viewer is also a part of the work and he is confronted with the conditioning of his own perception and has to reconsider his biased position. purpose of the work Frida Kahlo said I paint self portraits because I m so often alone, because I am the person I know best. • 3. Creating A Planner Whether it s through memory loss, aging or sheer forgetfulness, it can be hard to remember your life s To Do list. Life can be so stressful at times that you might want to forget what you need to do. However, if you create a planner, you ll simultaneously free your mind to focus on task completion instead. To create a planner you ll actually use, consider these three tactics. 1. Take a look at your goals. Write down all the things you d like to accomplish this year. Whether the goal involves losing weight, saving money or going on a vacation, write it down. In order to succeed with a goal, you ve got to break it down into bite size chunks. When you break the big goal down and create a plan, you re more likely to accomplish it. For example, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If you have a family, they probably have their own schedules as well. It s not fun when you realized you ve forgotten something important to attend or do. When you keep a planner, you ll have a better chance of remembering important dates and tasks. Look at your planner as your personal assistant. Just before you head to bed each night, pull out the planner and take a look at what you have scheduled for the following day. If there are any additions, you ll want to write them down at this time. This one habit can really help you center your mind and mentally prepare yourself for what the day has to offer. A planner also takes the guesswork out of the equation. By maintaining a planner, you ll know what s next. 3. Use visual cues. If you love colorful stickers or brightly colored pens, use them in your planner. Visual stimulation can really motivate you to look and see what s going on in your planner. If you love motivational quotes, try to find a planner that has a few already etched in. It s all about incorporating the things you love so you can accomplish the things you ve set out to do. Overall, having a system to keep you organized is always beneficial in more ways than one. A planner is merely the best tool to keep everything in one place. After using this tool for a few weeks, you ll quickly realize how helpful it is and how much you need it in your ... • 4. Nobody Never Gets To Heaven And Nobody Gets No Land Analysis The quote from the book, Nobody never gets to heaven, and nobody gets no land (74), subtlety explains an underlying detail to the grand theme regarding the American Dream in the story Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. The statement mentioned by Crooks, one of the characters that had once sought for the dream, sums up the theme that humanity keeps chasing the same objective of living a successful life, yet it remains unachievable. The plot of the story revolves around George and Lennie, a pair of migrant farmers that work towards their personal dream of owning personal land for by working on a ranch where they must attempt to cooperate with the multiple personalities of the other workers to gain enough money to leave the ranch for their dream. Throughout the story, multiple characters strive for the American Dream, seeking fulfillment in their lives, but achievement of the dream proved to be insurmountable by the experience of Curley s wife, George, and Crooks. Likewise, George always subconsciously felt that he could never own his own land with Lennie because there wasn t a sufficient margin for error to accommodate for Lennie s inevitable mistakes. Finally, as strongly as Crooks sought equality, he knew there was no real leniency for change because his position in life would always be definite. • 5. What Is A Day At The Piqua City Pool Essay A Day at the Piqua City Pool The spring of 2017 I came across a great summer job opportunity. My best friend, Hailey McPherson, worked at the Piqua City Pool the summer before. She told me it was a fun job and an easy way to make some money. Going into my junior year, I knew that it was time to save up money for my future. Taking Hailey s suggestion into consideration, I went to the city building to get an application. Once I got home, I started filling out the application and I was so confused. The paper required so much information that I didn t know. Finally, I asked my mom for help. The left sink was for warm soapy water and the middle sink was empty for rinsing. The right sink was filled with diluted bleach. Right before open, 11:00, I would put the hot dogs on the rollers. When the pizza arrived, I would put them into the warmers. When everything was finished, my coworker and I would sit and wait for customers. On most days the pool wasn t extremely busy. Typically, I would only get busy during adult swim s. The kids piled in line waiting with their wet dollars. I usually was the runner, not the cashier. The cashier took the money and sometimes made drinks. The runner would get all the food prepared. I always had to be wearing gloves. Anytime I touched anything but food, I had to get new ones. Usually, I had all the food prepared, but when it gets really busy we runout. Sometimes I would have to heat up the pretzels or hot dogs in the microwave. I hated when that would happen because I would have to run from the staff room back to the concession stand. • 6. The Reality Of The Beholder From The Ancient Dialogues... What is Reality? I plan on discussing each section of this essay; however, they do coincide with each other in the topic. I will try to explain my reasoning on how they would question relates to one another. First, what is the difference between appearance and reality? What is the reality of being in a new place, instead of being in a society of other people around you? Does one person think they can another s perception of their world? Does everything lead to good, and what is good in the eye of the beholder from the ancient dialogues from Plato and Socrates? Lets starts from the beginning, by distinguishing the difference between reality and appearances. Is it something that is done by everyone on a daily basis? Whether it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another way of thinking of reality and appearance is the theory of idealism. Idealism is only things that really exist are our minds and their ideas. An Irish Bishop named George Berkeley view of idealism is ...though it were possible that solid, figured, moveable substances may exist without the mind... yet how [could we] know this? Either we must know it by sense or by reason. (Rachels Rachels, 2012, p. 128). Berkeley also goes to mention that our senses comes our knowledge of sensations and ideas that come from the mind, and our reason is for us to believe in the existence of physical objects that is a necessary connection between the physical world and our ideas. Another approach is direct versus indirect realism, which deals with the perception of our reality or mental state. Direct idealism deals with common sense and with the facts of things; however, indirect idealism is the opposite of which it holds the idea of perception of something with our idea of an object that we are aware of. Now, how is reflecting with Plato s story of the Allegory of the Cave, and reality and appearance the same? In the story of the Allegory of the Cave, goes with the following understanding of the Cave. The cave is a world where prisoners live chained to the ground, and the captors cast shadows on the wall and these shadows construct reality for the prisoners. • 7. Brave New World Government Government: this word is used to define the system that maintains the state and her people. This system is run by officials who, hopefully, have the nation s best interest at heart; but these best interests for a country often find themselves conflicting in their particular perspectives. In the novel Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, the government has chosen to preserve the interest of state and this dystopia is the result of mankind choosing the wrong faction in the conflict of interest. To clarify, the principles, theories and arguments presented here in are democratic in orientation and not communistic, because the arguments aim toward freedom and rights. Those in control in Brave New World have misguided the nation s populace into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is quite possibly the biggest flaw in Huxley s Brave New World: mankind now controls and predestines the people that inhabit their world, and the price for this control has become progress. A society built on the basis of Community, Identity, Stability will never be able to face the ever changing, fickle nature of humanity. In order to preserve control they must therefore eliminate evolution. They have stolen evolution s format: the world and mankind will forever be stuck in the small cage of Brave New World, and in essence this eliminates anything that is truly either brave or new. In conclusion, it is safe to say that Huxley s utopia went about achieving its status in the wrong way. Mankind has lost its free will to the controlling powers of a system. This system cannot be called government, as it is more akin in characteristics to slavery. Man no longer has freewill and order is kept not through respect and intellect, but via degeneration and conduct. The former sections of this essay present strategies and techniques used to maintain order in a society of individuals. Finally, it may be argued that the Brave New World protects society by locking them in a cage of ignorance; however, this is at the cost of freedom, and this is unacceptable. Mankind needs be free in order to progress as has been explained. Protection is all well and good but not at the cost of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Living Space The Size Of Your Closet How would you feel being confined to a living space the size of your closet? Animals in captivity are often kept in situations vastly too small or unfit for their needs, for example elephants need about 100 acres of space, but the standard requirement is only about 1,800 sq. ft. (which isn t even a fourth of one acre) (Cohn). Generally, you d start to question the effects this may have on mental and physical health, as you probably couldn t fathom living in a broom closet. Captivity has a negative connotation, bringing up thoughts of animals being held against their will, but by definition means animals that live under human care . So most people could argue that their house pets aren t living in horrible, unfit situations, although they re technically in captivity, just as elephants in a zoo. The benefits of captivity (like in zoos or aquariums), as stated by Rick Block, is that it is a valuable source of public education and can help promote conservationism and a better understanding of the effects we have on wildlife, and can also help counteract animal endangerment through captive breeding, says Jeffery P. Cohn; on the other hand it brings up questions on the conditions animals are kept in, like elephants in zoos, which Cohn highlights, to the situations circus trained animals are put in, detailed by PETA, and CNN and the Humane Society touch on the neurotic inducing effects captivity may have on killer whales. The best way to combat the deterioration of animal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Oligopoly Market Failure In micro economics market failure is characterized by resource misallocation and subsequent Pareto inefficiency. Just as the invisible hand falters, so is the case that the unregulated markets are incapable of solving all economic problems. In laissez faire economy, market models mainly monopolistic, perfect competition and oligopoly are expected to efficiently allocate resources for the welfare benefit of the society. However individualistic and selfish private interests divert the public benefits thereby prompting government intervention to correct the imperfection which may lead to disastrous economic impact. Although corrective intervention policies by government may not necessarily address the underlying imperfection induced by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Competition failure or monopoly may result from natural monopoly where it costs incurred in production becomes lower when only one firm is involved in production than several firms producing the same output. In a monopolist market under production, higher prices become dominant contributing to market inefficiency. Winston cites cases of misuse of monopoly power can lead to market failures and sometimes may lead to acute shortage of essential commodities (130). Coordination failures by private markets are perceived to contribute significantly in inefficiency. Negative externalities like environmental pollution and positive externalities like focusing on public benefits and ignoring the private benefits significantly contribute to market failures. Fundamental questions have been raised to determine the appropriate time government intervention is required and the magnitude of inefficiency to warrant supposedly intervention or to let the market correct itself. Stiglitz, argued that inefficient government microeconomic policies to address the market gap often tends to exacerbate the existing problem or yield unproductive results in the economy (34). • 10. Peaceful Resistance In Henry David Thoreau s Civil... In a free society such as the United States, peaceful resistance usually comes in the form of peaceful protests such as people marching in the streets or people staying put in a public area for symbolic reasons. Peaceful resistance of this form is allowed because the government of this country seems to support an ideal set forth in Henry David Thoreau s Civil Disobedience: That government is best which governs least. In other words, the role of government is to protect the individual freedoms of its people, and the constitution that the United States government adheres to works to protect those individual freedoms, including the freedom of speech. Therefore, peaceful resistance in the form of peaceful protests are protected by the constitution. And even when peaceful protests cause individuals to break laws, these actions can bear fruits of justice and advancement within society. Many people, myself included, believe that the Gospels are a reliable historical resource. The Story of Jesus documentary both undergirds and challenges these presuppositions. The succinct wording makes it clear that San Francisco is a cold, dark city, and the allusion to its famous prison serves to reinforce how prevalent crime is in its society. We may be moving away from having a small number of large firms doing all the services to having many firms providing the services. Also, Rule 3523 will ensure independence. Another issue that has arisen since the establishment of the PCAOB is the increased compliance costs. In 2007, the PCAOB has been awarded a budget of 136,429,000 dollars by the SEC. Even though, traditional movies move with times (Cavell 61), the same can be achieved in movies in color; take for example the movie secret garden (1949), this movie started off with gloomy and similar effect as the Sunset Boulevard (1950); however, at the end color was thrown in to lay emphasis on what the main idea of the movie was about the (garden). The crucial turning point occurs when she went to go visit the hospital in District 8. There, through a series of bombings, is where she realizes why she needs to be the Mockingjay and why she is fighting against the Capitol. This realization stirs up an anger inside of her which sparks the threat, Fire is catching and if we burn, you burn with us! • 31. Speech On Freedom Of Speech Although the radical left should denounce social injustice, they often tend to forget the important historical connection to freedom of speech. It is important to realize that, abolitionists, labor activists; religious group minorities, communists and socialists, cultural critics, gays, and lesbians... all were victims of limited free speech.(Gillman) Perhaps the lack of historical understanding of free speech from the radical left is fathomable. However, a lack of historical knowledge of such an important right remains unacceptable. Although, the events that shaped our forefathers unbreakable respect for our first amendment were of high importance, such as the civil rights movement. Millennial s historical reference for the fight for free speech has not been absent in the 21st Century. In particular, the battle for equal marriage rights for Gay and Lesbians happened only at the turn of the century. Overall, if the racial left can dismiss the historical importance of freedom of speech, it is no wonder they do not realize the tremendous right college students risk losing. College campuses demand equality amongst all students. In contrast, the daily wire reported that out 450 colleges in the United States 40 percent have free speech codes that go against the first amendment (Devlin). Due to their government funding, universities must respect the first amendment. Colleges have the right to institute policies vested their interest in the safety and the progressiveness of ... • 34. The Iraqi Culture Essay The Iraqi Culture In recent years, the Iraqi nation has endured a crisis that will forever remain in the hearts and minds of the Middle Eastern culture. However, the outcomes of the War on Iraq will not change the long lasting and passionate traditions and memories that have been held in the country for decades. One major event that happened in Iraq s history is that on October 3, 1932 Iraq was established as an independent nation. Iraq has always been a country in which respect and generosity have been highly valued and play an important cultural role in everyday life. Additionally, approximately ninety five percent of Iraqis are Muslim, and therefore Islam is the official religion of this nation (Gutierrez 1). Furthermore, Iraq is a ... Lastly, the War on Terror has been a very unfortunate happening for the entire world, but even more so specifically for those living in the Middle East. After the United States invaded Iraq due to the belief that they had weapons of mass destruction, Saddam Hussein was killed, and the country was forever changed. Three of the many cultural practices in Iraq include food, marriage, and education. In the Middle East the the traditional meal includes rice with soup or sauce, and accompanied by lamb and vegetables (Culture of Iraq 4). Traditionally in Iraq, having an arranged marriage at a young age was a standard procedure. As of roles in the family, girls were mostly taught to take after the roles of their mothers, which was to take care of the household. On the other hand boys were taught to be hard working and dominate. In Iraq, their schools teach children about religion and were very strict. A critical factor in everyday life for them is to hold values and claim responsibility for themselves and their families. The majority of Iraqis practice the Muslim religion but there is still a small percentage of Iraqis that practice the Christian religion. For example, every Friday afternoon, Muslims gather at the Mosque to pray (Ghabra 10). On the other hand, for Christians, Sundays are a holy day for prayer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. The Legalization Of Abortion In The United States Abortion, one of the most controversial ongoing issues, has become common in the United States. There are a lot of reasons defending the legalization of abortion. However, understanding the medical information and perspectives on abortion can solve this controversial issue. Unlike the common knowledge that abortion is performed in an unsafe setting and has the potential long term complications, abortion is actually performed by professions and has few complications if it is performed within twelve weeks of pregnancy. First of all, abortion is a method to terminate a pregnancy by using medicine or surgery to remove the fetus from the uterus. It always has been a part of human culture since long time ago. One of the most common reasons of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the beginning of human life cannot be determined and extends beyond the knowledge of medicine. The problem of the moral status of the fetus is done by experiences, religious and philosophical beliefs, moral belief, and so on. Medicine does not ability to establish when the moral status on the fetus occurs. Moreover, the fetus within 12 weeks is not fully developed, so arguing about the fetus s moral fetus is somewhat unreasonable and unnecessary. According to Elizabeth Harman, inaccessible facts determine a fetus s moral status. We can t ever know how to treat an early fetus, because we can t be sure of its moral status. (Harman). Furthermore, the fetuses cannot feel pain during abortion (Rosenfield). According to Stuart W. G. Derbyshire, necessary to the development of pain experience is also yet to occur. (Derbyshire), and there is no evidence that brain and neurological system are developed enough even at twenty four weeks for the fetus to experience pain (Rosenfield). Arguing about something that has not proven is not right. Even though today s medical techniques have been developing rapidly, there are certainly some concepts that cannot be proven with them. Abortion may be performed naturally or artificially. Abortion that occurs within the first twenty weeks is called a miscarriage and after twenty weeks is called a stillbirth. • 36. Containment in Boxes A box without hinges, key, or lid, yet golden treasure inside is hid. J. R. R. Tolkien The box is a ubiquitous object, a box of some kind or another can be found in every culture. For the purpose of this essay it will look at the box from a western viewpoint. Given the perimeters of this essay I will confine the discussion of the box to Art Therapy, as it is made, appointed or constructed in the art therapy context; and instead of clinical studies I will be using art as examples. Boxes appear in all cultures and times, their uses range from hiding, to safe keeping; from precious to the mundane, The coffin to the bread box. Boxes have become modern man s ways of organising their office, house, garage, and under the bed secrets. You can shop at stores dedicated entirely to boxes of all shapes and sizes; The Container Store in the USA, is a great example of this, an almost obsessive need the Western modern man has to contain things. Might there be some deeper unmet needs being communicated through this desire to contain the physical things in ones life? True a way of organising, but could it also be a way of finding physical structure and space just by putting on a lid and sliding it into a slot under a bed, or into a closet? • 37. Persuasive Essay On Winning Games The thrill of winning a trophy for the first time is always memorable, however, it brings up the question: Is receiving an award for participating just as exciting? Participation awards are a topic highly debated among those of all ages, with none agreeing on a single answer. Individuals who are under the impression that they are essential believe they boost a child s confidence and self esteem. This may be true in some cases, but these trophies could be doing more harm than good. Although in the moment they may appear to be wholesome, they have a lasting effect on children as they grow older. Many children put loads of effort into winning awards, which is belittled by participation trophies that are not only unhelpful and unrewarding, but don t teach them the important values learned by losing. Of course, participation trophies take away from the true meaning of receiving an award and enjoying the sport. Her daughter rarely showed up for her soccer team. She had a terrible attitude, Dweck says. In spite of that, at the end she got a giant trophy and would have been devastated had she not (Turner). Children who put no effort into the sport or activity they have joined still receive an award for being a part of it. This is extremely unfair to those who actually worked hard to make their team successful because it rewards the kids who were barely even engaged in the sport.
