The August Revolution ( Russian ) Essay
The February Revolution (Russian: Февра́льская револю́ ция; IPA: [fʲɪvˈralʲskəjə rʲɪvɐˈlʲutsɨjə], known
in Soviet historiography as the February Bourgeois Democratic Revolution[2]) was the first of two
revolutions in Russia in 1917. It was centered on Petrograd (now known as St. Petersburg), then
Russian capital, on Women s Day in March (late February in the Julian calendar).[3] The revolution
was confined to the capital and its vicinity, and lasted less than a week. It involved mass
demonstrations and armed clashes with police and gendarmes, the last loyal forces of the Russian
monarchy. In the last days, mutinous Russian Army forces sided with the revolutionaries. The
immediate result of the revolution was the abdication of Tsar Nicholas II, the end of the Romanov
dynasty, and the end of the Russian Empire. The Tsar was replaced by a Russian Provisional
Government under Prince Georgy Lvov. The Provisional Government was an alliance between liberals
and socialists who wanted political reform. They set up a democratically elected executive and
constituent assembly. At the same time, socialists also formed the Petrograd Soviet, which ruled
alongside the Provisional Government, an arrangement termed Dual Power.
This revolution appeared to break out spontaneously, without any real leadership or formal planning.
Russia had been suffering from a number of economic and social problems, which were compounded
by the impact of World War I. Bread rioters and industrial strikers were

Obedience and Disobedience in A Few Good Man
In the heart of nation s capital, in a courthouse of the U.S government, one man will stop at nothing to
keep his honor, and one will stop at nothing to find the truth. This tagline helps to sum up the tone of
the film A Few Good Men. Two soldiers caught in the middle of right and wrong will keep there hope
and loyalty high as they wish for the best. Will the instigator of it all be pressured through his own
anger to reveal the truth? Rob Reiner presents Col. Nathan R. Jessep as having an exaggerated self
opinion while using his power for evil, based on dispositional factors. Lt. Daniel Kaffee uses his
Harvard law education to represent two Marines who are being charged for murder in the movie A

The author exemplifies the ways that disobedience helps the society and its contribution to furthering
the human race but notes on the fact that blind obedience may eventually account for the end of
civilization. A private office meeting is ordered by Col. Jessep between him, Lt. Jonathan Kendrick,
and Lt. Col. Matthew Andrew Markinson to discuss the Santiago situation. After a few brief words
among the three, Jessep makes his authority known by ordering Kendrick to train Santiago, while
threatening to kill him if Santiago is not well prepared. With Markinson having noticeable doubts
about Jessep s command, the colonel orders a private meeting alone with Markinson. By starting the
conversation off soberly, Jessep asks Markinson what he thinks of Kendrick. Markinson replies by
saying his opinion does not account for much. Jessep then proceeds to explain his reasoning for
having Santiago stay on the base. With a self conceited tone, Jessep begins reminiscing on his and
Markinson s life together, and ends the conversation on a selfish note, saying that he had been more
successful than Markinson and that any feeling of tension and embarrassment had no importance to
him. Jessep shows his true malevolence in this scene, while directing it towards Markinson and
Kendrick. Milgram confers his opinion on the presence of authority when he says, The experimenter s
physical presence has marked impact on his authority (223). Milgram states that without

How Did British Colonization Affect The Development Of The...
Main Idea 1
Seventeenth century Spanish, French, Dutch, and British colonizers embraced different social and
economic goals, cultural assumptions, and folkways, resulting in varied models of colonization. Spain
sought to establish tight control over the process of colonization in the Western Hemisphere and to
convert and/or exploit the native population. French and Dutch colonial efforts involved relatively few
Europeans and used trade alliances and intermarriage with American Indians to acquire furs and other
products for export to Europe. Unlike their European competitors, the English eventually sought to
establish colonies based on agriculture, sending relatively large numbers of men and women to
acquire land and populate their settlements, while having relatively hostile relationships with
American Indians. The British American system of slavery developed out of the economic,
demographic, and geographic characteristics of the British controlled regions of the New World.
Reinforced by a strong belief in British racial and cultural superiority, the British system enslaved
black people in perpetuity, altered African gender and kinship relationships in the colonies, and was
one factor that led the British colonists into violent confrontations with native peoples. The New
England colonies, founded primarily by Puritans seeking to establish a community of like minded
religious believers, developed a close knit, homogeneous society and a thriving mixed economy of
agriculture

Quality is a broad term that encompasses various aspects of nursing care (Montolvo, 2007). The
National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators [NDNQI] is the only national nursing database that

nursing care at the unit level (Montolvo, 2007). Nursing s foundational principles and guidelines

Each of these interventions will positively impact patient outcomes and reduce errors. According to
The Joint Commission [TJC], proper patient identification is best practice for decreasing mislabeled
specimens (The Joint Commission as cited by Sims, 2010). National Patient Safety Goal [NPSG],
01.01.01 states that healthcare providers should use at least two identifiers to identify patients. For
example, the patient s full name and date of birth is used to properly identify a patient (The Joint
Commission, 2014). According to Kim et al., (2013), developing a standardized specimen handling
system has the potential to reduce errors.

Southern White Supremacy and Black Civil Rights 1863-1877...
Having endured the brutality of slavery and the uncertainty of war, America s blacks enjoyed a period
of relative respite during the years 1863 1877. With slavery abolished, the South underwent
reconstruction within every component of its unsteady structure. However, one must measure the
success of this reconstruction with the criteria of political, social and economic changes in mind. The
amendments of the 1860s gave blacks greater political freedom, but were only upheld by the military
force of the Northern army; blacks developed their first education and religious institutions, but only
within a segregated framework; and economically, the black population worked long, hard hours
though in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the Reconstruction years of 1863 65, a considerable proportion of blacks occupied several
Deep South governments. In Louisiana, for example, African Americans made up 42% of the lower
and 19% of the upper houses. However, these numbers do not accurately reflect the influence wielded
by blacks in this period. Very few blacks held top positions, and in five Southern states no black
whatsoever held a major office during reconstruction. Furthermore, one must recognise that this
progression came about in an environment of intense pressure, in which any successful blacks were
subject to white violence and widespread animosity. Furthermore, once in the house, the blacks found
that they had far less speaking time and thus far less influence that their white counterparts. This was a
matter of procedure: governmental power is inevitably measured by experience, of which the blacks
had none but it is important to note that the black politicians were operating in an environment that
was far from equal. Thus, one can see that although blacks made considerable progress into politics,
their development was cut short by white activity. Unequal influence inside and violence outside
government ensured that the African American politicians were prevented from working effectively
even in their limited posts. However, the fact that these people even had the remote chance of

Nature And Theories In Management Accounting
CHAPTER TWO
LITERATURE REVIEW
2.1 Introduction
This chapter begins by looking at the literature that will give considerable information about
Management Accounting and the practices of Small and medium Enterprises, bringing out the
interdependence and interrelation of one to the other.
2.2 Overview of Management Accounting
Management accounting was first known as cost accounting. This origin was reflected in the earlier
title for practitioners of cost or works accountants (Wilson and Chua, 1988). Accounting historians
have long endorsed the view that cost accounting is a product of the industrial revolution (Johnson,
1981). For example (Wilson and Chua, 1993) claimed that cost accounting was practiced by the
mechanized, multi process, cotton textile factories that appeared in England and United States around
1800. This point of view was consistent with Garner (1947) who pointed out that cost accounting had
emerged only after eighteenth century as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This change has resulted to a range of modern management accounting. This is evident through the
adoption of innovative modern management accounting techniques like Cash Flow analysis, Activity
based costing, cost volume profit Analysis, Balanced Scorecard, Standard costing among others. This
new techniques seem to be gradually adopted by Ghanaian SMEs.
Management accountant is less likely to take decision but rather provides data which is aids
management in decision making. Management accountant deals with future outcome. It helps in
planning the future because decisions are always taken for the future course of action. Many theories
have been developed to management accounting, among them which this study seeks to address is the

The Searchers Movie Essay
The movie, named The Searchers, produced in 1956 starring John Wayne. It was directed by John
Ford and the list of characters had many stars. I chose this film because of the many examples of
concepts learned in cultural anthropology. Ethan Edwards, played by John Wayne, returns to his
brother s house in Texas after his service in the Confederate Army. His adopted nephew, Martin, meets
him and Ethan says Folks might mistake you for a half breed. This racist comment was the first of
many by Ethan although Martin s phenotype was that of a white man. The Comanche warriors stole
cattle and while the men were looking for the cattle, the Comanche burned Ethan s brother s house and

Brad rode off to get revenge and was killed. Martin and Ethan continued to follow the Comanche.
Ethan refers to the Native American males as bucks. This is a derogatory term used in an attempt by
Caucasians to make the Native Americans seem less than human. Due to the ignorance of the
Comanche culture, Martin buys a wife with a hat. Ethan speaks Comanche enough to find out Martin s
wife knew where Scar s band was at. He spoke to her harshly to find out what she knew. His syntax
was different than the language Look spoke. Look ran off in the night and left a trail to follow. They
found a burned out village and Look was dead in a tepee. They left the dead and rode on. At a
government holding area the pair found four girls who had been rescued. They had been enculturated
into the Comanche culture. They were acting in a way that Ethan said they were not white anymore.
They had been culturally assimilated into the Comanche society and their ethnicity was the Comanche
culture. Ethan attempted ethnocide by killing buffalo. He said the buffalo won t feed Comanche this
winter . Martin stopped him from killing more buffalo. The commentary said Ethan did something

The Incarceration Of The Correctional System
The correctional system in America is an umbrella term referring to a range of mandates that entails
the management, supervision, and rehabilitation of convicted offenders. These mandates are often
carried out through incarceration, probation, or parole, while prisons are the most popular correctional
agency in America. Prisons in America were among some of the first public buildings established in
the New World. Early prisons were not considered houses of punishment, but were rather referred to
as temporary holding cells. The history of U.S. prisons from the late 1700s to the late 1800s was
marked by a shift from a penitentiary system primarily concerned with rehabilitation to one concerned
more with warehousing prisoners. The failure of reform minded wardens to justify rehabilitation
caused state legislatures to set economic profitability as the new goal for prisons. The first prisons in
the United States were established as penitentiaries to denote their prisoners as religious penitents.
Early penitentiaries gained global attention for their goals of perfecting society. Despite their high
moral aims, the facilities soon became overcrowded, dirty, and dangerous. Maintaining the behavior
and control of the inmates became their primary focus. It was after the American Revolution that
imprisonment as a form of criminal punishment became a widespread in the United States. The
Jackson Administration use rehabilitative labor as a penalty during the American Civil War.

Human Rights And The Rights
What exactly are Human Rights, can they be violated? Many people don t pay too much attention to
this global issue, however the violation of human rights is a tremendous and current problem. All
human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and
integrity and should act towards one another. Human Rights will be rights that you have basically in
light of the fact that you are a human. In the event that you went around and asked diverse individuals
What is Human Rights? you would get a variety of answers. A human right should not be taken away
by nobody under any circumstances. Mr. Romulo once stated that The Universal aim is to achieve
respect for the entire human race, not just for the dominant few . The global human rights
development was strengthened when the United Nations general get together conceded to the
Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10, 1948.The Universal Declaration of Human
Rights was created, alongside the thirty rights that all individuals are approved to. At the point when
the United Nations turned into a universal government it should keep countries from future clashes
including observing human rights internationally. Throughout the world human rights have been
abused and looked over by the cruel masses of society. Every human being is born with rights or civil
rights at least. Civil rights contain freedom of press, speech, assembly: the right to vote, most

Essay about Osteoarthritis and the Ideal Treatment
Osteoarthritis and the Ideal Treatment
Osteoarthritis, or degenerative joint disease, is a form of arthritis characterized by the breakdown of
cartilage within joints. Cartilage serves to provide cushion at the ends of bones, and when the cushion
is not sufficient, as in osteoarthritis, the bones rub together. As a result, osteoarthritis sufferers are
constantly plagued by stiff, swollen, and inflamed joints
(http://www.arthritis.org/answers/diseasecenter/oa.asp). It is a relatively common condition, with an
estimated 20 million American sufferers, most of whom are elderly

Glucosamine can be synthesized for commercial use from crab, lobster, or shrimp shells (Ghosh,
Smith, and Wells, 1992). Those with allergies to shellfish need not worry, because the allergy is to the
meat, not the shell (http://webmd.lycos.com/content/article/1707.50223). In the making of the
supplemental tablets, glucosamine is combined with sulfate or hydrochloride. The recommended
dosage is usually between 1000 and 2000 milligrams a day, and glucosamine is often taken in
conjunction with chondroitin, which is shown to enhance treatment results.
How does it work?
Glucosamine stimulates production of glycosaminoglycans and proteoglycans, the two essential
building blocks of cartilage. Advocates of the treatment say that artificially synthesized glucosamine
supplements can jumpstart glucosamine production within joints. Choindroitin is made of many of the
same molecules as glucosamine, and essentially serves the same purpose. The long lasting pain relief
and functional improvements that are reported by users of the supplement come as a result of anti
inflammatory agents, an increase in cartilage building activities, and a reduction in the enzymatic
destruction of cartilage. Along with a termination in the progression of joint damage, reversal of
damage is also highly likely. The rapid pain relief upon initiation of a glucosamine

Explain The First Cause Argument
The first cause argument is based on cause and effect, it attests that the universe must have a cause,
and that this cause is God. The first cause argument is also known as the cosmological argument. The
universe could not have come into being without something that started it. Therefore, this argument
does show that God exists. This essay will analyse the first cause argument, provide proof of why God
is shown that he exists by the first cause argument and, explore the objections and counter objections
that people have when it comes to this argument.
The first cause argument shows the existence of God through the statement that the universe must
have a cause and as result, it is impossible for there to be an infinite cycle of causes so therefore, God
exists because he is the first cause. The strength of this argument is that it indicates the need for
something in order for there to be a beginning, but why conclude that this Something is God? I

We have the gift of existence, and our existence was attained from our causes. If things and people
came into existence using their own nature without it being passed down to them through other people
there would be no need for a first cause but, people do not exist from their own nature which means
that they have a cause which goes to show that there is Indeed a first cause and that this cause must be
God. The universe only has beings that do not exist on their own essence, that are not eternal or
necessary, all beings in the universe need a cause. Beings that are not self explanatory, eternal or
necessary are called dependent or contingent. Furthermore, a being who is self explanatory is called a
necessary being. Dependent beings need causes. If the independent being does not exist, then all the

Homer Hickam In The Movie October Sky
October Sky is a movie that teaches us a lesson in perseverance, pursuing our goals, and turning our
dreams into reality. Homer Hickam, the main character, was such a person. When he was confronted
with obstacles that caused failure, Homer continued to try. In this essay I would like to explore the
relationship with his teacher, Ms. Riley, why Homer was chosen to go to the science fair instead of his
friends, and Homer s relationship with his father.
Homer had someone who believed in him before the Rocket Boys even started shooting off successful
rockets. Her name was Frieda Riley. Ms. Riley was Homer s 1th grade teacher. Since the time when
Homer brought the rocket into school, she provided Homer with encouragement. She also convinced
Homer and the Rocket Boys to join the science fair. On Homer s 18th birthday, she gave him a book
on rocketry. Homer said it was the best present anyone had ever given him. Because of a mining
accident, Homer was forced to quit school and work in the coal mine. Ms. Riley didn t want to speak

Homer became the leader because he was interested in rocketry the most. After they won the school

The Consumption Of The Livestock Industry
Have you ever realized that grain fed to livestock could be used to feed starving children? Plump,
hormone injected cattle feed on grain and drink precious purified water while frail, emaciated children
with bacteria swollen stomachs scrounge for food in the streets of Ethiopia, their sunken eyes and
cracked lips manifesting their chronic dehydration. Livestock production is causing more ethical
problems that most realize. In addition to contributing to the starvation of children, the livestock
industry is a major culprit in terms of the unscrupulous treatment of animal as well as the destruction
of the environment and its natural resources. The cattle themselves are often kept in overcrowded,
unsanitary living conditions. Moreover, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Bonnie Liebman s Nutrition Action Health Letter cover story he states: About 60 to 70 percent of
soybeans and a slightly higher percentage of corn goes for animal feed rather than as feed for humans
or other uses. Distressing findings in the study prove food that could potentially save lives is being
grown to feed cattle that are likely going to be eaten by fast food restaurant frequenters. Each time an
American consumes a hamburger from McDonalds they are not only wasting money on a ninety nine
cent greased heart attack, but are also potentially starving a child. The statistics prove that individuals
can certainly make a tremendous difference in world hunger. Some may argue that such restaurants
provide essential employment opportunities, or that livestock industry workers need their careers as
well. However, complete abstinence from meat isn t the only option to solving the issue. For example,
if families in the US chose not to eat it on Meatless Mondays, the amount of grain used to feed cattle
could be reduced drastically. Hence, vegetarianism can certainly have a considerably positive impact
on such issues. David Pimentel, professor of ecology in Cornell University s College of Agriculture
and Life Sciences, states, If all the grain currently fed to livestock in the United States were consumed
directly by people, the number of people who could be fed would be nearly 800 million. Thus, it

The Mexico City Olympics in 1968 was a different yet similar incident where racism, closely related
to anti Semitism in the way society views the rights of people of all races and kinds. United States

U.s. Government Budget Deficit And Debt
There are many original and ingenious opinions and analysis related to a topic on U.S. government
budget deficit and government obligations and liabilities. As a result of the economic circumstances

hypotheses of what future may bring to the American people. Therefore, I would like to face deeply

also assume there are new challenges taking place as the consequence of rising government debt.
To provide evidence to the current U.S. government budget deficit and government external debt
situation we should take a closer look at the government budget deficit, national and personal debt in
the country. First, I am going to start with a definition of U.S government deficit: It is essentially the
difference between what the U.S government spends in any fiscal year and the revenues it takes in.
Any time the spending exceeds the revenues, the federal government runs a deficit. As many may
already know the United States must increase its revenue or reduce expenses during the next decade in
order to farther debt and loss of creditability in the world financial markets. There are several ways to

Is Cassius The Most Despicable Character In Julius Caesar
The Most despicable character in Julius caesar
Cassius in the play of Julius caesar to me is the most despicable character in the play because he
manipulates a lot of people and basically lies and cheats his way to get the things he wants and he
does even more things to show that he s the most despicable character. One of the reasons that Cassius
is a despicable characters is that he manipulated brutus and it took time to manipulate him because in
the play brutus is a stoic and a stoic is a person who shows no emotions so throughout the play you
can see cassius manipulating brutus time and time again ( Brutus, and Caesar /what should be in that
Caesar ?/why should than name be sounded more than yours,) (1,2,142) this is just one example ...

if you still don t believe that cassius is a despicable person their are many more reasons like him
leading and gathering a group of conspirators against Julius caesar in the play you can see cassius
gathering up all the people he has convinced/manipulated against Julius caesar
( This, Casca; this Cinna; and this Metellus Cimber ,) (2,1,97) in this point of the play
Cassius is gathering up the conspirators so they can plot against Caesar and his downfall and they
eventually fulfill compare this to is to real life conspirators being like a pack of wolfs just finding a
weak prey to feed on and in the play the alpha wolf would be cassius and his poor weak pray is Julius
Caesar And now the final reason why I think that cassius is a despicable character he lead to caesar s
downfall not only did cassius just kill caesar at the end but throughout the play all he s done has led up
to this, from manipulating brutus all the way from him stabbing caesar at the capitol ( Et tu, Brute?
Then fall Caesar!) (3,1,78) so everything cassius has done has led up to this terrible moment in which
caesar has fallen and this is just typical murder nothing else this can be compared to lincoln s
assassination by john wilkes booth or John F kennedy s assassination by lee harvey oswald there s
nothing more to say about this it was just plain

The Pros And Cons Of Mass Shootings
The First Amendment of the Constitution says that the Congress cannot make a law that forces people
to follow one religion or prohibit free speech. It also says that people have the right to hold peaceful
assemblies to make a change. This allows people to have opinions and express them freely as long as
they are peaceful.
The article connects to the First Amendment because the NFL players are protesting what they believe
in and using freedom of speech. If Congress made a law to throw players in jail who kneeled during
the national anthem it would violate the United States Constitution. But, while the First Amendment
protects them from being sent to jail, they could still be fired from the NFL. By this point, however, it
would be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This article talks about Venezuela s President Nicolás Maduro wanting to rewrite the country s
constitution, originally written in 1999. The exact changes that would be made to the document are
not known, but citizens and leaders of both Venezuela and the United States, including President
Trump, believe it will make the government too much like Cuba s. Cuba has a communist government
that controls everything. There will be a vote that many people plan on boycotting, and there have
been many protests from all the people who do not want the President of Venezuela to go through with
the changes. These strikes are dangerous and have ended up killing many people.
The Twenty Sixth Amendment of the Constitution reduces the voting age to eighteen years old. It says
that a citizen who is eighteen or older cannot be denied the ability to vote by any state because of their
age. Until this, in most states, citizens had to be twenty one years old to vote.
The article and this amendment connect in certain ways. Many Venezuelans do not like their President
s plan to make changes to their country s constitution. If something like this were to happen in the
United States, and citizens were angry at the idea, the people s voice would need to be heard. With the
voting age at eighteen years old, more people could vote against the plan to show the government just
how many citizens disagree with making changes to the

Data Mining And Association Rule Mining
2. Background and Literature Review
The purpose of this chapter is to show an in depth review of the topics, areas and works related to the
research presented here. we conduct a brief but comprehensive in depth review of data mining and
association rule mining approaches and techniques, followed by a focus at interestingness quality, and
redundancy issues related to association rule mining. This review sets the basic work for our research
and the proposals made here.
2.1 Data mining
Data Mining technique is the result of a long process of studies and research in the area of databases
and product development. This evolution began when business data and companies was stored for the
first time on computer device, with continuous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2.2 Frequent Pattern Mining
In this part, we introduce frequent pattern mining by giving an overview of the problem, including a
formal definition, the description of some practical applications and a survey of the most renowned
and influential algorithms proposed for solving this problem.
2.2.1 Overview
Frequent pattern mining and association rule mining were first introduced in 1993 by Agrawal et al.
[15]. Informally speaking, association rules can be seen as if then rules: e.g. if a person buys cheese,
he or she also buys beer. A measure that is often associated with association rule mining is that of
support: the some of customers for whom the rule holds, or rather the relative number of customers
buying all items occurring in the rule (the so called underlying pattern or itemset) [16]. Basically, the
objective is to find those items in a data set that commonly co occur, based on a certain minimum
support value. Besides itemsets, it s also possible to mine more complex patterns, such as trees and
graphs.
2.2.2 Definition The formal definition of frequent pattern mining and association rule mining in a
relational setting is the following:
Let db be a transaction table with schema R = {I1,I2....... In}, in which each Ii is a binary attribute.
The attributes in db correspond to items and the rows in db correspond to

The Constructivist Theory and Brain Development Essay
The idea of epigenesis has become well known as an integral part of the constructivist theory which
states that neural activity within the brain is largely spontaneous, driven by genetic and molecular
instances (Mareschal, D., Johnson, M.H., Grayson, A., 2004). However, after birth, the neural activity
is influenced by sensory and motor experience and the outside environment (Mareschal et al, 2004).
Epigenesis is what the constructivist theory is about, the interaction between genes and the
environment. A study done by Petersen et al used PET, or positron emission tomography, to
understand the responses of native English adult speakers to written stimuli in the form of English
words, pseudowords or words that had no meaning but could ... Show more content on

During development, the temporal lobe is most responsible for responding to auditory (hearing)
information, however for those who cannot hear, this section was used for a different sense (Mareschal
et al, 2004). This shows that the temporal lobe in the brain, although genetically made to hear, had
used the child s sensory experience to become prominently involved with visual processing, or in
other words, adapted to the environment that the child was in. If the brain was already made for
development and not influenced by the outside world and environment, it would seem to be nearly
impossible for a hearing part of the brain to adapt to only visual processing. Lastly, there was a study
done by Mills that tested language acquisition in children, which also showed a link to epigenesis in
development. This study concluded that with experience, certain types of processing in the brain are
performed by more localised regions of the cortex (Mills, D.M, Coffey, S.A, Neville, H.J., 1993). The
researchers collected data from ERPs that suggested processing of small words and control stimuli is
spread over a large area of the cortex at first, however, this processing narrows to an area over the left
temporal lobe only when the child s vocabulary reaches about 200 words, regardless of the child s age
(Mareschal et al, 2004). One could argue that if this narrowing of processing of words happens at a
particular age, then that area of the

The American Prairie A Known Wonder
By: Avani Pammidimukkala #20 and
Tanvi Prem #24
Due Date: May 26th, 2016
Introduction When people think of the American Prairie, they think of a dull, and grassy full biome.
But, the American Prairie is an extremely fascinating biome. At first glance, this grassy biome may
look really dull and boring, but if you look deeper into it and feel nature playing its daily roles in this
prairie around you, then you will see how unique this biome is.
Location
The American Prairie is usually located at mid latitudes, such as the middle of North America.
Covered with grasses and numerous wild flowers, this area of land is huge. On the American prairie,
trees grow that well, due to the lack of not too much rain. But, there are still some trees, and if they are
there, they are regularly scattered very far apart. The American Prairie is located from the Great Plains
to southern Texas and Mexico that forms an area that looks like a triangle. This ... Show more content

Currently, this biome is experiencing a lot of human impact that affects the environment greatly. The
increased agricultural use of soil has created erosion, and its quality is going down. This is causing the
Bison and Pronghorn that live on the prairie to become almost extinct. The American Prairie grassland
is disappearing due to dividing up the land for farming and urban development. Dividing up the land
for farming is bad because the animals of the grasslands don t have any way to move around. Prairie
animals are also being endangered. When the prairie grassland is converted into cropland, it reduces
the food source for many wild animals. This can lead to migration or possibly the starvation of the
animals. Hundreds of animals have been hunted for valuable body parts. Also, bison have been hunted
for their meat. This caused animals to near extinction. Humans have also done much more damage to
this biome,

Were Those Promises Legally Enforceable Promises
Has anyone ever broken a promise to you? Were those promises legally enforceable promises? Why or
why not? Yes, it happens to me several times. For example, my promise me and my big brother
different time to bring us at Place Boyer to teach us to ride the bicycle, but he never did this (we were
children when he promised us). There are other promises that people have broken to me. They promise
but they do not respect the engagement. Some of them were not enforceable and some of them were.
There are some which did not have any legal obligation, but there is some contract which could have
been legally promised because they could be considered as a tort or a breach of the promise which
could be harmed. For example, when I was a young boy a person

Descriptive Essay About Stress
Memoir Assignment Utter bewilderment fills those curious about the past, but the ones who make an
attempt to relate it to the future; are the ones who possess a blessing, yet a curse. Those who wonder
about the future have all experienced one thing; stress. Stress is present in all life, including mine, but
the feeling is much more potent in some than others. It is taken upon my soul to hate when others
make assumptions about my personal stress, without knowing the cause... which has occurred from
the time I stepped on this planet. Personally speaking, stress is not present in my life for the reasons
many might think, such as school and homework. The ones who assume those things about myself
have only etched my bare surface. Lost in my thoughts, I slammed the door behind me, as I exited my
home and waved over to my friend who stood in my driveway; patiently waiting with his loving
german shepherd. I skipped along the yellow brick pathway: laid by the previous owners, and then
onto the main street, accompanied by my friend or otherwise known as the boy next door. His
grandmother lives across the street from me in a luxurious, stone home, concealed in pine trees, as he
then visits me when he is at his grandfather s. The regular street is surrounded by expensive homes
with impeccable gardening. My favorite of which is a house with an intricate fountain in the middle of
the driveway, as it reminds me of a past neighbor I had that I was quite fond of. I have grown quite

The Lackluster Town of Holcomb
Henry David Thoreau once wrote, A man s interest in a single bluebird is worth more than a complete
but dry list of the fauna and flora of a town (Thoreau). Truman Capote, author of In Cold Blood,
disagrees with Thoreau s sentiment and utilizes his description of Holcomb, Kansas to produce an
illustration of a rustic village within the minds of his audience. Capote portrays the town as utterly
average as well as drab and dreary in nature so that he can convince the audience that Holcomb was
nothing more than a haphazard hamlet and to foreshadow the coming drama (para. 2). Through an
ingenious application of vivid imagery, superfluous syntax, fantastic figurative language, as well as a
tone laced with melancholy, the speaker effectively demonstrates that Holcomb is nothing special and
induces a feeling of normalcy and simple serenity within the audience while simultaneously
foreshadowing the future turmoil. In the excerpt from In Cold Blood, Capote couples intriguing
imagery with his gloomy and, at times, dull tone to emphasize the fact that Holcomb, like Maycomb,
the setting of Harper Lee s novel To Kill a Mockingbird, is a desolate place deprived of drama as well
as to foreshadow that change is coming to the tiny town. Capote uses imagery to paint a picture in the
minds of his readers of a ghost town utterly destitute of life and completely isolated in the wilderness
of Arkansas. When the speaker monotonously says, ...irrelevant sign, this one in flaking gold on a

Ego Theory and Bundle Theory Essay
Intro to Philosophy
Ego Theory and Bundle Theory Derek Parfit s views on personal identity and the Ego and Bundle
Theory are all summarized in his article Divided Minds and the Nature of Persons . In his article,
Parfit explains the distinction between Ego theory and Bundle theory and provides several arguments
against Ego Theory. Although it proves to be very difficult to believe the Bundle Theory, Parfit s
critique is convincing and well thought out. In order to defend the Bundle Theory of personal identity
Parfit begins to describe it and differentiates it from Ego Theory. Parfit states that there are two
theories about what persons are or what a person s personal identity really is. According to Ego
Theory, each person has an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Parfit asks if that copy is still you or has the real you actually died? He then asks; what if only 1% of
your cells were replaced? Many would say if only 1% were replaced, the person would still be you but
at what percentage of cells is the new being no longer you? Parfit argues that the question is irrelevant
and that these are not here two different possibilities, one of which must be true. These are merely two
different descriptions of the very same course of events. To further support the bundle theory, Parfit
references split brain cases. A split brain case is what happens when the corpus callosum connecting
the two hemispheres of the brain is severed to some degree in order to treat severe epilepsy. A person
with a split brain shows to have two separate streams of consciousness. Ego Theory would argue that
there are two separate egos but only one person. When separating ego from person does Ego Theory
still hold valid? Parfit and the Bundle Theory state that this is an example of a different awareness of
events occurring at the same time, not different egos. According to Parfit there is no person involved.
Parfit s distinction between Ego theory and Bundle Theory and his arguments against Ego theory are
convincing. He uses many example to help support his claim. Both his thought experiment and the
split brain cases support the idea of bundle theory and disprove the more common Ego

Ancient Works of Art in Fred Kleiner’s Gardner’s Art...
In Fred Kleiner s Gardner s Art Through the Ages, he has listed some of the oldest and most ancient
works of art discovered from different archeological site, which were later transferred to various
museums. As we delve deeper into the chapters, we discover how art forms evolve across different
time lines from the art of the Paleolithic period to the arts of the near East and Egypt. The works of art
across the different timelines also indicate the kind of culture people have, because such culture can be
seen in how they present their arts. Therefore, there is a clear development that is happening back
then, because of the evolution of the arts and the presentation of the artists based on their culture.
Taking everything into consideration, this project aims to discuss how arts develop throughout the
different timelines the Paleolithic period and the Ancient near East and Egypt and how such art forms
present the cultural context of the artists.
Paleolithic cave painting Historically, it is always argued that the cave paintings during the Paleolithic
period are one of the oldest recorded pieces of art. These include the hand imprints and spotted horses
cave painting in Peche Merle, France, the Halls of Bulls wall painting in Lascaux, France and the
animal paintings in the Chauvet cave. While they are located in different locations, there are some
common traits in these paintings. First, the cave paintings estimated to be between 13,000 and 15,000
years old, which means

the preface of the book Kleinknecht states not to mistake this work for a case against immigration in

  • 2. The August Revolution ( Russian ) Essay The February Revolution (Russian: Февра́льская револю́ ция; IPA: [fʲɪvˈralʲskəjə rʲɪvɐˈlʲutsɨjə], known in Soviet historiography as the February Bourgeois Democratic Revolution[2]) was the first of two revolutions in Russia in 1917. It was centered on Petrograd (now known as St. Petersburg), then Russian capital, on Women s Day in March (late February in the Julian calendar).[3] The revolution was confined to the capital and its vicinity, and lasted less than a week. It involved mass demonstrations and armed clashes with police and gendarmes, the last loyal forces of the Russian monarchy. In the last days, mutinous Russian Army forces sided with the revolutionaries. The immediate result of the revolution was the abdication of Tsar Nicholas II, the end of the Romanov dynasty, and the end of the Russian Empire. The Tsar was replaced by a Russian Provisional Government under Prince Georgy Lvov. The Provisional Government was an alliance between liberals and socialists who wanted political reform. They set up a democratically elected executive and constituent assembly. At the same time, socialists also formed the Petrograd Soviet, which ruled alongside the Provisional Government, an arrangement termed Dual Power. This revolution appeared to break out spontaneously, without any real leadership or formal planning. Russia had been suffering from a number of economic and social problems, which were compounded by the impact of World War I. Bread rioters and industrial strikers were ... • 3. Obedience and Disobedience in A Few Good Man In the heart of nation s capital, in a courthouse of the U.S government, one man will stop at nothing to keep his honor, and one will stop at nothing to find the truth. This tagline helps to sum up the tone of the film A Few Good Men. Two soldiers caught in the middle of right and wrong will keep there hope and loyalty high as they wish for the best. Will the instigator of it all be pressured through his own anger to reveal the truth? Rob Reiner presents Col. Nathan R. Jessep as having an exaggerated self opinion while using his power for evil, based on dispositional factors. Lt. Daniel Kaffee uses his Harvard law education to represent two Marines who are being charged for murder in the movie A Few Good Men. Lt. Cdr. JoAnne Galloway ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The author exemplifies the ways that disobedience helps the society and its contribution to furthering the human race but notes on the fact that blind obedience may eventually account for the end of civilization. A private office meeting is ordered by Col. Jessep between him, Lt. Jonathan Kendrick, and Lt. Col. Matthew Andrew Markinson to discuss the Santiago situation. After a few brief words among the three, Jessep makes his authority known by ordering Kendrick to train Santiago, while threatening to kill him if Santiago is not well prepared. With Markinson having noticeable doubts about Jessep s command, the colonel orders a private meeting alone with Markinson. By starting the conversation off soberly, Jessep asks Markinson what he thinks of Kendrick. Markinson replies by saying his opinion does not account for much. Jessep then proceeds to explain his reasoning for having Santiago stay on the base. With a self conceited tone, Jessep begins reminiscing on his and Markinson s life together, and ends the conversation on a selfish note, saying that he had been more successful than Markinson and that any feeling of tension and embarrassment had no importance to him. Jessep shows his true malevolence in this scene, while directing it towards Markinson and Kendrick. Milgram confers his opinion on the presence of authority when he says, The experimenter s physical presence has marked impact on his authority (223). Milgram states that without ... • 4. How Did British Colonization Affect The Development Of The... Main Idea 1 Seventeenth century Spanish, French, Dutch, and British colonizers embraced different social and economic goals, cultural assumptions, and folkways, resulting in varied models of colonization. Spain sought to establish tight control over the process of colonization in the Western Hemisphere and to convert and/or exploit the native population. French and Dutch colonial efforts involved relatively few Europeans and used trade alliances and intermarriage with American Indians to acquire furs and other products for export to Europe. Unlike their European competitors, the English eventually sought to establish colonies based on agriculture, sending relatively large numbers of men and women to acquire land and populate their settlements, while having relatively hostile relationships with American Indians. The British American system of slavery developed out of the economic, demographic, and geographic characteristics of the British controlled regions of the New World. Reinforced by a strong belief in British racial and cultural superiority, the British system enslaved black people in perpetuity, altered African gender and kinship relationships in the colonies, and was one factor that led the British colonists into violent confrontations with native peoples. The New England colonies, founded primarily by Puritans seeking to establish a community of like minded religious believers, developed a close knit, homogeneous society and a thriving mixed economy of agriculture ... NDNQI Action Plan NDNQI Analysis and Action Plan: Adams 5, Inpatient Rehab Unit Savetria Nicole Palmer Walden University NURS 2006 Section 13, Topics in Clinical Nursing September 21, 2014 Quality is a broad term that encompasses various aspects of nursing care (Montolvo, 2007). The National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators [NDNQI] is the only national nursing database that provides quarterly and annual reporting of structure, process, and outcome indicators to evaluate nursing care at the unit level (Montolvo, 2007). According to The Joint Commission [TJC], proper patient identification is best practice for decreasing mislabeled specimens (The Joint Commission as cited by Sims, 2010). National Patient Safety Goal [NPSG], 01.01.01 states that healthcare providers should use at least two identifiers to identify patients. For example, the patient s full name and date of birth is used to properly identify a patient (The Joint Commission, 2014). According to Kim et al., (2013), developing a standardized specimen handling system has the potential to reduce errors. Figure 1. Steps to properly identifying a patient for specimen collection. • 6. Southern White Supremacy and Black Civil Rights 1863-1877... Having endured the brutality of slavery and the uncertainty of war, America s blacks enjoyed a period of relative respite during the years 1863 1877. With slavery abolished, the South underwent reconstruction within every component of its unsteady structure. However, one must measure the success of this reconstruction with the criteria of political, social and economic changes in mind. The amendments of the 1860s gave blacks greater political freedom, but were only upheld by the military force of the Northern army; blacks developed their first education and religious institutions, but only within a segregated framework; and economically, the black population worked long, hard hours though in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the Reconstruction years of 1863 65, a considerable proportion of blacks occupied several Deep South governments. In Louisiana, for example, African Americans made up 42% of the lower and 19% of the upper houses. However, these numbers do not accurately reflect the influence wielded by blacks in this period. Very few blacks held top positions, and in five Southern states no black whatsoever held a major office during reconstruction. Furthermore, one must recognise that this progression came about in an environment of intense pressure, in which any successful blacks were subject to white violence and widespread animosity. Furthermore, once in the house, the blacks found that they had far less speaking time and thus far less influence that their white counterparts. This was a matter of procedure: governmental power is inevitably measured by experience, of which the blacks had none but it is important to note that the black politicians were operating in an environment that was far from equal. Thus, one can see that although blacks made considerable progress into politics, their development was cut short by white activity. Unequal influence inside and violence outside government ensured that the African American politicians were prevented from working effectively even in their limited posts. However, the fact that these people even had the remote chance of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nature And Theories In Management Accounting CHAPTER TWO LITERATURE REVIEW 2.1 Introduction This chapter begins by looking at the literature that will give considerable information about Management Accounting and the practices of Small and medium Enterprises, bringing out the interdependence and interrelation of one to the other. 2.2 Overview of Management Accounting Management accounting was first known as cost accounting. This origin was reflected in the earlier title for practitioners of cost or works accountants (Wilson and Chua, 1988). Accounting historians have long endorsed the view that cost accounting is a product of the industrial revolution (Johnson, 1981). For example (Wilson and Chua, 1993) claimed that cost accounting was practiced by the mechanized, multi process, cotton textile factories that appeared in England and United States around 1800. This point of view was consistent with Garner (1947) who pointed out that cost accounting had emerged only after eighteenth century as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I chose this film because of the many examples of concepts learned in cultural anthropology. Ethan Edwards, played by John Wayne, returns to his brother s house in Texas after his service in the Confederate Army. His adopted nephew, Martin, meets him and Ethan says Folks might mistake you for a half breed. This racist comment was the first of many by Ethan although Martin s phenotype was that of a white man. • 9. The Incarceration Of The Correctional System The correctional system in America is an umbrella term referring to a range of mandates that entails the management, supervision, and rehabilitation of convicted offenders. These mandates are often carried out through incarceration, probation, or parole, while prisons are the most popular correctional agency in America. Prisons in America were among some of the first public buildings established in the New World. Early prisons were not considered houses of punishment, but were rather referred to as temporary holding cells. The history of U.S. prisons from the late 1700s to the late 1800s was marked by a shift from a penitentiary system primarily concerned with rehabilitation to one concerned more with warehousing prisoners. The failure of reform minded wardens to justify rehabilitation caused state legislatures to set economic profitability as the new goal for prisons. The first prisons in the United States were established as penitentiaries to denote their prisoners as religious penitents. Early penitentiaries gained global attention for their goals of perfecting society. Despite their high moral aims, the facilities soon became overcrowded, dirty, and dangerous. Maintaining the behavior and control of the inmates became their primary focus. It was after the American Revolution that imprisonment as a form of criminal punishment became a widespread in the United States. Many people don t pay too much attention to this global issue, however the violation of human rights is a tremendous and current problem. All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and integrity and should act towards one another. Human Rights will be rights that you have basically in light of the fact that you are a human. In the event that you went around and asked diverse individuals What is Human Rights? you would get a variety of answers. A human right should not be taken away by nobody under any circumstances. Mr. Romulo once stated that The Universal aim is to achieve respect for the entire human race, not just for the dominant few . The global human rights development was strengthened when the United Nations general get together conceded to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10, 1948.The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was created, alongside the thirty rights that all individuals are approved to. At the point when the United Nations turned into a universal government it should keep countries from future clashes including observing human rights internationally. • 11. Essay about Osteoarthritis and the Ideal Treatment Osteoarthritis and the Ideal Treatment Osteoarthritis, or degenerative joint disease, is a form of arthritis characterized by the breakdown of cartilage within joints. Cartilage serves to provide cushion at the ends of bones, and when the cushion is not sufficient, as in osteoarthritis, the bones rub together. As a result, osteoarthritis sufferers are constantly plagued by stiff, swollen, and inflamed joints (http://www.arthritis.org/answers/diseasecenter/oa.asp). It is a relatively common condition, with an estimated 20 million American sufferers, most of whom are elderly (http://webmd.lycos.com/content/article/1668.50297). Glucosamine can be synthesized for commercial use from crab, lobster, or shrimp shells (Ghosh, Smith, and Wells, 1992). Those with allergies to shellfish need not worry, because the allergy is to the meat, not the shell (http://webmd.lycos.com/content/article/1707.50223). In the making of the supplemental tablets, glucosamine is combined with sulfate or hydrochloride. The recommended dosage is usually between 1000 and 2000 milligrams a day, and glucosamine is often taken in conjunction with chondroitin, which is shown to enhance treatment results. (http://webmd.lycos.com/content/article/1677.57489). How does it work? Glucosamine stimulates production of glycosaminoglycans and proteoglycans, the two essential building blocks of cartilage. Advocates of the treatment say that artificially synthesized glucosamine supplements can jumpstart glucosamine production within joints. Choindroitin is made of many of the same molecules as glucosamine, and essentially serves the same purpose. The long lasting pain relief and functional improvements that are reported by users of the supplement come as a result of anti inflammatory agents, an increase in cartilage building activities, and a reduction in the enzymatic destruction of cartilage. Along with a termination in the progression of joint damage, reversal of damage is also highly likely. The rapid pain relief upon initiation of a glucosamine ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Explain The First Cause Argument The first cause argument is based on cause and effect, it attests that the universe must have a cause, and that this cause is God. The first cause argument is also known as the cosmological argument. The universe could not have come into being without something that started it. Therefore, this argument does show that God exists. This essay will analyse the first cause argument, provide proof of why God is shown that he exists by the first cause argument and, explore the objections and counter objections that people have when it comes to this argument. The first cause argument shows the existence of God through the statement that the universe must have a cause and as result, it is impossible for there to be an infinite cycle of causes so therefore, God exists because he is the first cause. The strength of this argument is that it indicates the need for something in order for there to be a beginning, but why conclude that this Something is God? I conclude that this ... If things and people came into existence using their own nature without it being passed down to them through other people there would be no need for a first cause but, people do not exist from their own nature which means that they have a cause which goes to show that there is Indeed a first cause and that this cause must be God. The universe only has beings that do not exist on their own essence, that are not eternal or necessary, all beings in the universe need a cause. Beings that are not self explanatory, eternal or necessary are called dependent or contingent. Furthermore, a being who is self explanatory is called a necessary being. Dependent beings need causes. Plump, hormone injected cattle feed on grain and drink precious purified water while frail, emaciated children with bacteria swollen stomachs scrounge for food in the streets of Ethiopia, their sunken eyes and cracked lips manifesting their chronic dehydration. Livestock production is causing more ethical problems that most realize. Distressing findings in the study prove food that could potentially save lives is being grown to feed cattle that are likely going to be eaten by fast food restaurant frequenters. Each time an American consumes a hamburger from McDonalds they are not only wasting money on a ninety nine cent greased heart attack, but are also potentially starving a child. The statistics prove that individuals can certainly make a tremendous difference in world hunger. Some may argue that such restaurants provide essential employment opportunities, or that livestock industry workers need their careers as well. However, complete abstinence from meat isn t the only option to solving the issue. For example, if families in the US chose not to eat it on Meatless Mondays, the amount of grain used to feed cattle could be reduced drastically. Hence, vegetarianism can certainly have a considerably positive impact on such issues. [15]. Informally speaking, association rules can be seen as if then rules: e.g. if a person buys cheese, he or she also buys beer. A measure that is often associated with association rule mining is that of support: the some of customers for whom the rule holds, or rather the relative number of customers buying all items occurring in the rule (the so called underlying pattern or itemset) [16]. Basically, the objective is to find those items in a data set that commonly co occur, based on a certain minimum support value. Besides itemsets, it s also possible to mine more complex patterns, such as trees and graphs. 2.2.2 Definition The formal definition of frequent pattern mining and association rule mining in a relational setting is the following: Let db be a transaction table with schema R = {I1,I2....... • 25. The Constructivist Theory and Brain Development Essay The idea of epigenesis has become well known as an integral part of the constructivist theory which states that neural activity within the brain is largely spontaneous, driven by genetic and molecular instances (Mareschal, D., Johnson, M.H., Grayson, A., 2004). However, after birth, the neural activity is influenced by sensory and motor experience and the outside environment (Mareschal et al, 2004). Epigenesis is what the constructivist theory is about, the interaction between genes and the environment. A study done by Petersen et al used PET, or positron emission tomography, to understand the responses of native English adult speakers to written stimuli in the form of English words, pseudowords or words that had no meaning but could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During development, the temporal lobe is most responsible for responding to auditory (hearing) information, however for those who cannot hear, this section was used for a different sense (Mareschal et al, 2004). This shows that the temporal lobe in the brain, although genetically made to hear, had used the child s sensory experience to become prominently involved with visual processing, or in other words, adapted to the environment that the child was in. If the brain was already made for development and not influenced by the outside world and environment, it would seem to be nearly impossible for a hearing part of the brain to adapt to only visual processing. Lastly, there was a study done by Mills that tested language acquisition in children, which also showed a link to epigenesis in development. This study concluded that with experience, certain types of processing in the brain are performed by more localised regions of the cortex (Mills, D.M, Coffey, S.A, Neville, H.J., 1993). The researchers collected data from ERPs that suggested processing of small words and control stimuli is spread over a large area of the cortex at first, however, this processing narrows to an area over the left temporal lobe only when the child s vocabulary reaches about 200 words, regardless of the child s age (Mareschal et al, 2004). On the American prairie, trees grow that well, due to the lack of not too much rain. But, there are still some trees, and if they are there, they are regularly scattered very far apart. Capote portrays the town as utterly average as well as drab and dreary in nature so that he can convince the audience that Holcomb was nothing more than a haphazard hamlet and to foreshadow the coming drama (para. 2). Through an ingenious application of vivid imagery, superfluous syntax, fantastic figurative language, as well as a tone laced with melancholy, the speaker effectively demonstrates that Holcomb is nothing special and induces a feeling of normalcy and simple serenity within the audience while simultaneously foreshadowing the future turmoil. In the excerpt from In Cold Blood, Capote couples intriguing imagery with his gloomy and, at times, dull tone to emphasize the fact that Holcomb, like Maycomb, the setting of Harper Lee s novel To Kill a Mockingbird, is a desolate place deprived of drama as well as to foreshadow that change is coming to the tiny town. The works of art across the different timelines also indicate the kind of culture people have, because such culture can be seen in how they present their arts.
