The Positive And Negative Implications Of Social...
The positive and negative implications of social networking sites. Introduction Social networking sites
have become a big part of our lives. These sites are indeed twofold, and their impact on society is both
positive and negative. My essay will, therefore try to answer both sides of the impact social
networking sites have in today s culture. A website article by (Shruti Tripathi Chopra 2015) stated that
in 2008 Facebook made and estimated $300 million, that rose to a profit in 2014 of $2.9. The positive
implications of social networking sites have no boundaries. Communication between people in the
past was, either over the phone or via letter, just to mention a few. (Pewinternet.org 2005) published
that just 7% of American adults used social networking sites, and then rising to 65% by 2015. As a
result, in this growth and popularity, jobs have been created to meet the demands of social networking
sites. It was surely inevitable, that the growth and impact of social networking sites would influence
how most of us live our lives today. A great way to share your recent photographs, ideas, general chat
or just keep in contact with loved ones who live far away, is through the social networking sites. This
being a very positive side, it has all but demolished the barriers that prevented loved ones from
frequent contact. Many, if not all academic institutes have embraced these sites, and they use them to
inform the public of current happening at their institute. This in many ways

Strategic Analysis Uk Retail Industry
Strategic Management Analyse Home Retail industry using PESTEL, scenarios, 5 forces and strategic

businesses around the world. They produce thousands of hundreds in revenues and they are some of
the biggest employers industries. WALL MART, IKEA, TESCO, ARGOS, MACYS, WALLGREENS

competitive industry. It has well known companies that are recognized for style, price, and costumer

products and price. But economic and legal aspects may be a reason for potential entrants to refrain to

home products are essential for having a good life style. For example, there is no substitute for: a

The Handmaid s Tale By Margaret Atwood Essay

October 19, 2016
In the society that we reside in today our voice is a source of power and our words allow us to have a
say in our lives especially for the female population. Many years ago a woman s voice was to be kept
at a whisper if even heard at all. We had no opinion on who we wanted to be or on how the world saw
us. We were simply women who took care of the children, cooked, cleaned, and catered to the men of
our home. But we broke out of that silence and women created a name for themselves, Independent.
We could do anything a man could do and maybe even better and we have now lived in that freedom
for many years. But author of the novel, The Handmaid s Tale, Margaret Atwood pulled her readers
attention showing them a world in which the woman s voice was again taken away. Atwood revealed
how powerful the voice is. In this novel women no longer have a say in what happens to them or their
bodies. They were forced to bare the children of the men they are assigned to and were stripped away
from their past lives. The only key to a small piece of freedom was through their language, through
their use of words to paint a different picture than the one in front of them. That is what main
character Offred did to survive the world she was living in. She paints pictures with her words and
even though she did not have power over her circumstance her words gave her an escape from
everything. It gave an escape for all the

Last 30 Week Research Paper
Over the last 30 days, I was challenged to change one of the behaviors I didn t like about myself. I
choose to start saving my money. I will first explain my research I found and then go through my plan
to save more. My goal is to have $1,000 saved at the end of the four weeks. Before I started this, I
went shopping about three to four times a week. Over the past 30 days I tried to cut down my
shopping, and budget myself. I will go through my four weeks, and explain what I did over the past 30
days to keep myself from spending money. The easiest way to save money rather than spending it is to
make sure that that you never get a chance to spend the money in the first place (Lewis step 1). By this
they mean you should have part of your money deposited into a saving account ... Show more content

Day 5 I go get my nails done which is all of my $40, then I buy lunch which is about $10. All the

$1,300 in my savings account. The fourth and final week, I tell myself that I am not going to spend
every penny of my budget this week. I go all the way to day four without spending money. On day
four I buy my brother s Christmas present (about $50) and lunch (about $15). On day six I go to Target

Taking Sides Clashing Views in Management
Introduction
Taking Sides Clashing Views in Management written by Marc and Vera Street diverse into some deep,
debatable topics. Upon reading each issue, it is clear that there is no right or wrong answer. Several
times I found myself torn on both sides; this is I was both for and against certain issues. I have always
tried to make decisions as informed as possible but realized that judgments are still personal and what
we believe in.
Issues
Issue 1: I do believe that corporations have a responsibility to society as a whole, not only to
maximize their own profits and benefit the economy but also to respect the community that they reside
in. They achieve this by not only providing employment, but also upholding an image. It is up to ...

corporations to use cheap overseas labor my first thoughts were yes because of my personal beliefs.
But upon further thought and through discovery, I realized that from a business point of view we as a
nation should still help promote economic globalization. In order to do so we need to outsource
production and encourage trade. However, because we are fiscally involved in another country s
economy that doesn t give American corporations the right to implement our laws and standards into
other countries business practices and laws. Just because we see child labor, unfair wages, and
violating overtime as immoral, doesn t mean that the host county does. However global labor
standards need to be unified.
Issue 3: Siding with Ira Kay, I agree with his position on the issue. The American Dream is to
essentially start from nothing, working up the ladder to gain money, power, and the image of a lavish,
executive lifestyle; resulting from hard work paying off and wages that compensate for it. Annual pay
and stock incentives for most executives will fluctuate with the company s performance, as well as
their personal efforts. If a cap was to be implemented on a CEO s salary, what would be the incentive
to stay at the helm of a corporation when the financial glass ceiling has been reached?
Issue 4: Does an employer s need to monitor workers trump employee privacy concerns? This is one
of these controversial issues where I agree with points from both sides.

The Quad Cities Area adult population generally fails to meet the USDA s recommended dietary
guideline of consuming at least five servings of fruits and vegetables per day, with only 35.7%
reporting meeting these guidelines (Professional Research Consultants, 2015). This policy analysis
will review current community efforts within the Quad Cities area that are concentrating on improving
fruit and vegetable consumption of area adults. Additional policy options to help increase access,

The USDA classifies the different food groups as fruits, vegetables, grains, proteins, dairy, and oils.
Each of these food groups has specific serving recommendations and other considerations regarding
food choices and consumption. In regards to vegetables, intake should vary among the subgroups dark
green, red and orange, legumes, starchy, and other. Servings per day should be 2 œ 3, depending on
personal needs. Having a variety of vegetables, as close to the whole form as possible, offers an
abundance of essential nutrients such as Vitamin C, A, K, E, B6, fiber, potassium, niacin, just to name
a few. Fruits offer similar nutrients as vegetables and should be consumed daily, ideally two servings a
day. Fruit juice can count as a serving of fruit as long as it is 100% fruit juice. However, the benefit of
fiber is lacking from this source and added sugar may be present. Ideally, it should have no added
sugar if choosing it as a serving of fruit (USDA, 2016).

resulted in the transformation of my thinking regarding a person, nursing, and environment while my
perception regarding the health remains same. Firstly, I discovered the importance of the concept of

Health I defined health as a physical, social, emotional, psychological and spiritual wellbeing of a
person which is vastly shaped by their environment. This definition falls under totality paradigm. This
is so because, according to totality paradigm, health is defined according to societal norms. Society
sets a benchmark for what health is. Hence, health can be measured as compared to the societal norm.
If the person deviates from the societal norm then the person is considered unhealthy. Similarly, I
mention in my definition that health is something that is maintained by the stability of different
aspects of the person. The benchmark of stability is usually set by society. My definition does not fall
into simultaneity paradigm because unlike my definition, simultaneity paradigm states that health is
not defined by the benchmark of society rather, health is defined only by a person, and only the person
knows what health means to them. Environment According to me, environment denotes a person s
surrounding including their family, community, culture, beliefs, and values. Environment shapes the
person s health and wellbeing as well as their own view towards the definition of being healthy. My
view on the concept of environment relates to Parse s (1987) totality paradigm. Totality paradigm
states that the environment is something within which the person exists. It influences the way in which
the person functions. Similarly, I believe that the environment of the

First Language Acquisition In Children

First language acquisition is the first words that the child speaks or says and it s the process by which
the child learn, speaks and write, and it is the initial stages of language development in humans
infants, children begin learning their language since they re babies with uncorrected grammar until
many years they will be able to learn the language with a perfect grammar after going to school and
have some support with their family, on the psychology side, Many of psychologist have a different
point of view in the first language acquisition and every psychologist have a different theory about the
language acquisition. And some of the theorists says that the language is acquired while the other
theorists said that the language is learnt, so every psychologist have a theory about the language
acquisition, and in my essay I will be talking about the first language acquisition for the child, and if

If change is forced on people normally problems occur. Change must be realistic, achievable and
measurable, so as managing director it is extremely important to understand how to engage
employees, and lead the business, in working around this change (TFG 2014). Change management
enables employees to adopt a change so that business objectives and outcomes can be achieved.
Whenever there is some sort of organizational change employees can experience varied levels of
discomfort. As managing director leading change requires juggling a number of psychological factors,
such as how employees think, how they perceive their current situation, how they will perceive a new
change (Price and Lawson 2008). To ensure the success of any change initiative, manager s efforts
should go first towards considering how your employees will perceive the change and approaching
this in the best way. Planning, leading organizing, negotiating and controlling are four management
functions that can be used and implemented to keep employees motivated towards company goals and
reassured about the businesses direction in a time of change.
Organizations are continually faced with a changing environment, therefore a need for a shift in
strategic direction, must be implemented. The successes of major organizational change initiatives are
almost always dependent on the incorporation of its workers and employees to help implement these
changes.

Is Prostitution A Victimless Crime
Is prostitution a victimless crime and should this affect its legislation?
As established earlier, a victimless crime is defined as a legal offense in which all parties consent and
no party is injured. I believe that this is a key thought to consider when discussing the legislation of
prostitution, because surely an act should only be illegal if there are directly negative impacts caused
it? If prostitution is in fact a victimless crime , does it even need to be considered a crime at all? A
crime can be defined as an action which constitutes an offence and is punishable by law, why should
prostitution constitute an offence if no one is harmed?
In the 1950s, Sir John Wolfenden led an investigation for the British government, looking into
whether or not prostitution (and homosexual acts) should remain as criminal acts. Wolfenden did not
question the immorality of the acts, but concluded that the law should be reformed because there must
remain a realm of private morality and immorality that is, in brief and crude terms, not the law s
business . Liberal thinkers tend to hold the same view, which was describe in an earlier publication by
John Stuart Mill, ...the only purpose for which power can be rightfully exercised over any member of
a civilised community, against his will, is to prevent harm to others . This quote is often used to
support the repeal of laws which make victimless crimes (e.g. laws against
prostitution/homosexuality). I agree with the view of Wolfenden and

How Water Affects The Health Of A Stream
Abstract Because streams play important roles in ecosystems and also provide drinking water for
humans, this experiment was performed to determine if water velocity affects the health of a stream.
For our purposes, water heath was determined by concentrations of dissolved oxygen. We predicted
that areas of higher water velocity would have a lower chlorophyll a concentration and higher
dissolved oxygen concentration. We collected six samples of water from Wild Basin Preserve in
Austin, TX, three from areas of still water and three from areas of running water. We measured the
dissolved oxygen concentrations of each sample using an YSI 550A Dissolved Oxygen Instrument and
measured the chlorophyll a concentrations of each sample using a DU 800 ... Show more content on

Streams in urban areas are vulnerable to the effects of deforestation, creation of roads, and the release
of toxins into the environment (Walsh et. al 2005). These anthropogenic activities affect the
biodiversity of ecosystems in streams and negatively impact the stream s health. This experiment was
executed for the purpose of diagnosing the health of a stream located in Wild Basin, a natural park in
Austin, TX. Our goal was to determine how the movement of water affects the quality of the water.
Measuring chlorophyll a concentrations is one way to determine the health of a stream, because it is
the main photosynthetic pigment in periphyton. Periphyton is a primary producer in stream ecosystem
and provides information about conditions within the stream. An abundance of periphyton positively
affects an ecosystem because periphyton absorbs metals and nutrients and provides a significant
component of the food resources to other species (Gray 2013). However, it is also important to
measure the concentration of dissolved oxygen in streams to determine the health. If the concentration
of periphyton is too high, there will be a large amount of primary and secondary consumers that
migrate to the location and deplete the concentration of oxygen. For our study, we hypothesized that
constantly moving water would have higher dissolved oxygen content because the movement helps
oxygenate the water

Failures And Failures Of The United Nations
The United Nations is widely regarded and respected as the most powerful institution that promotes
international cooperation and human rights action. In theory, actions implemented by and within the
United Nations are based on the mutual global goal of protecting international human rights and
preventing human sufferings. These actions are constituted through three main mechanisms: the
Treaty based system, the Human Rights Council, and Security Council and Humanitarian
Interventions, with the level of confrontation and seriousness in each mechanism increases
respectively. While aimed to serve the mutual goal of protecting human rights over the world and have
shown some successes, in a world of sovereignty, actions when implemented are in fact grounded by
the national interests of each state, including embracing its national sovereignty, concreting its
strategic relationships with other states, and enhancing its reputation in the international community.
This paper will analyze the successes and failures of each of the three mechanisms of the United
Nations regime, through which it aims to prove that when it comes to actions, states focus more on
their national, and in some cases, regional interests than on the mutual goal of strengthening human
rights throughout the world, thus diminishing the legitimacy of the whole United Nations system.
The first and least confrontational mechanism of the United Nations regime is the Treaty based
system, constituted by ten treaties on

in civil wars afterward. These civil wars lead to the rise of the Ashikaga clan and thus began the

traditions became popular again. Zen was mainly focused on rigorous discipline and personal
responsibility which influenced samurai and aristocrats, and merchants to place high value in loyalty,
courage and self control. This wasn t just a religion to these people but became centers of culture and

Japan s literati paintings where inspired by China, which was only connected with Japan through
Korea. One of the most famous painters of this style was Yosa Buson, using poetic ability with both

ukiyo e to depict the delights of the city. One of the most famous ukiyo e printmakers was Suzuki
Harunobu who influenced the development of polychrome prints. These prints were very sumptuous
and colorful and called nishiki e ( brocade pictures ). These prints were made of the best quality
materials and costly pigments and were not very common in the Edo period. Harunobu s genius in his
work is well shown in the Evening Bell at the Clock (Fig. 34 1). This print was based on a Chinese
series where the images depicted a certain time of day or time of year in the work. In Harunobu s
version, the subjects were beautiful young women and their activities in their daily lives. The two
women in the pint are seen from a regular Japanese elevated point of view, with one drying herself and
the other looking away at a clock. Private scenes like this were very common in ukiyo e. Before

Essay about Civil War
Civil War
During the American Civil War, which lasted from 1861 1865, over 620,000 accounted soldiers were
killed. Known as the quot;the first modern war quot;, historians generally agree that the reason for this
was because this was a time of transition for the military. Armies and Navies were still using tactics
where they would gather large forces of firepower to bear on the enemy. At the same time, weapons
were being developed which were accurate and lethal well beyond any arms of the earlier conflicts. As
a result of these two conditions many more casualties were sustained. Add to that the lack of medical
knowledge of disease and infection and the numbers truly began to grow. This paper is an overview of

Fuses could be either timed so the round would explode after a certain number of seconds had elapsed,
or were percussion so the ammunition would explode upon striking an object. Shells were generally
used as long range rounds, meant to explode among an advancing enemy or used to blow apart enemy

Solid shot was a kinetic energy round. Its speed and mass were used to penetrate walls, fort and armor.
To produce any type of casualty effect, the round would have to actually strike the target. Solid shot
was particularly used against ironclad ships where a shell would do little or no damage. During one
test an 8 inch Brooke rifle with 16 pounds of powder fired a 140 pound ball 260 yards and penetrated
eight inches of iron backed by 18 inches of solid wood.
While there are many accounts of troops charging bravely into a quot;hail of grape quot; there is little
fact in this. Grape shot was used very little on the land battlefield during the Civil War. The
ammunition encountered by the soldiers was called canister, one of the war amp;#8217;s most

Hamlet and The Spanish Tragedy
The parallels shown between Hamlet and The Spanish Tragedy demonstrate the influence Kyd s play
had on Shakespeare. The similarities can be seen throughout the plot lines and context of both plays.
While using the plays as different tools, both are used for expediting revenge. Shakespeare, through
the impact of Kyd s play, established and perfected an ideal plot for a play expressing revengeful
tragedy. The actions and thoughts that Hamlet shows greatly displays many characteristics from The
Spanish Tragedy. Hamlet models himself after Hieronimo in the way he approaches revenge.
However, Hamlet wants his victims to suffer not only on earth but in the afterlife. Kyd and
Shakespeare utilize both meta theaters to exact revenge and reveal guilt. The intention of a play within
a play by Kyd is used for the format of Hieronimo s death. It varies from that of Hamlet in layout and
context. Hamlet plans precisely how he will avenge his father s death and when he will strike. Hamlet
exclaims, When he is...about some act/ That has no relish of salvation in t / Then trip him...And that
his soul may be damned and black/ As hell (Shakespeare III.iv.94 100). Killing Claudius in a sinful
state will satisfy him, his father, and affect him by suffering in the afterlife as well. Hieronimo also
plots his revenge, but is solely concerned with achieve earthly revenge. The Spanish Tragedy includes
a play that is longer in duration than that of Hamlet. Kyd does this to allow the audience to

African American History For The Past Century
The African American History from the Late 19th Century through the Present course was very
informative and educational. This course offered a broader view at looking and analyzing the history
of African American in the United States. Though, I have read extensively and possessed a small
collection of books on the subject, this course has affirmed what I have already knew as well as
elevating my knowledge on the subject. The course also opened up new ways to look and understand
certain facts about African American s experiences since Reconstruction.
There could not be a better textbook for this course than Freedom on My Mind. As I stated in a
previous assignment, the textbook is a mini reference encyclopedia of African American history for
the past century. The supporting documents throughout the textbook support the authors arguments as
well as providing the foundation for many unanswered questions that academics and intellectuals
should seek find answers from the government and people in leadership positions.
Parallel conclusions can be drawn to events involving African Americans in the late 19th century and
throughout the 20th century to current events with the exception that a few cases many end up in the
court. Discriminatory practices are wide spread in every sector of the American society. The fights for
school desegregation may have been won in the courtroom but segregationists found a way to
underfunded black schools. Affirmative Action may have provided a

Lenses of Education
Education is a main factor that Socrates discusses throughout his trial in the Apology and in Meno.
One of the main factors discussed in both texts are the role of teachers in society and if Socrates is a
teacher. Socrates also relates past stories or experiences when giving his dialogues. This allows him to
explain his thoughts and reasons on certain topics. One final factor that plays a role in both the
Apology and Meno is the role of the gods through the dialogues. Teachers, stories, and the role of
gods all play a key role in the Apology and Meno as Socrates attempts to explain and expand upon his
views of education.
In the Apology Socrates states that he is not a teacher because he does not charge a fee, such as
Gorgias or Leontini do (pg. 24, 19 d e). Socrates does not consider himself a teacher because he does
not charge a fee, and he also does not preach what he does not know. According to Socrates, those
who have obtained great knowledge in certain subjects such as politics or poetry often come to the
conclusion that they have knowledge about everything and therefore can teach about anything the
choose (pg. 27, 23b). However, Socrates believes he is wiser than most because he does not preach
what he does not know. Rather, he looks for those who do know the answers and then questions them
to understand their thoughts about the topic. Thus, Socrates gains his education from questioning
rather than pretending just as Meno points this out in the Meno.

Md International
MD International is a private company that distributes medical equipment to government institutions,
agencies, and hospitals in countries located in Latin America and Caribbean. The main reasons why
MD International decided to work with this region were the falling trade barriers and governments
investments on the healthcare Industry. Companies that act as intermediaries between buyers and
sellers of different countries, such as MD International, provide a variety of valuable services for their
vendors. Vendors can rely on MD International because they have a deep knowledge and
understanding on the Latin America market and the regulations they need to comply with.
Additionally, manufacturers can increase their sales and profits without spending the time and
resources they would use if they were to develop a market themselves. They want MD International to
export their products because it helps them bypass government rules and regulations, market research,
and other costs that could arise. By giving MD International the power to export their products, they
focus more on manufacturing.
Welch Allyn Merritt founded MD International, envisioning a great potential in Latin America. He

Sovereignty
(1) Sovereignty means supreme and independent power or authority in government as possessed or
claimed by a state or community. (Dictonary.com)
First of all, Sovereignty is vital for any country to survive. Singapore s sovereignty is anchored by a
cohesive society, economic development and our military vitality. In addition, Singapore has always
placed a prime on its security and its security policy is built on the twin pillars of deterrence and
diplomacy , a rational affair that its leaders proponent. (Eugene Lim, 2013, para. 3).

Dilma Rousseff s Impeachment In Brazil
The current event I choose is about Brazil s impeachment movement towards President Dilma
Rousseff. The reason why Dilma Rousseff is facing impeachment is because a large portion of Brazil

involving the oil giant Petrobras is also known as the Car Wash Investigation that occur behind her

Many believe that congress is trying to look after themselves because of the Car Wash Investigation
and blaming everything on Rousseff for what happen and claiming that she could have used the
money for her pass reelection and no one would know but her. When congress voted to impeach
Rousseff and she did not stand a chance losing by a landslide now the senate where they will check on
whether congress vote is true or not deny the impeachment. The reason why I choose this current
event is because it reflects back on the reading called Never Meant to Survive by John H Costa
Vargas. In the reading Vargas talks about Brazil myth. According to the existing myth, Brazil is a
polity characterized by the relative unimportance of race both as a cognitive moral category and as a
determinant of one s structural social position (104). In other words, what Vargas is saying that Brazil
is still based on a social hierarchy and how the power stays within the same social class. When
congress got caught with the scandal behind Rousseff back they blamed everything on her to sustain
the power. Brazil is known for having hundreds of Favelas where poverty is at its extreme. As talked
in class the rich and elite earned money are not invested in poor society, but rather back to themselves
or somewhere elsewhere. When Dilma Rousseff was in office the economy was at the best and before

Gay Liberation Movement Research Paper
Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, All our progress is unfolding, like a vegetable bud. You have first an
instinct, then an opinion, then a knowledge as the plant has root, bud, and fruit. Trust the instinct to the
end, though you can render no reason (). This quote is a great representation of how the Gay

was a major milestone for the United States, this was the first step towards acceptance. The movement
did not pick up speed until the 1960 s but many years before that in 1920 s individuals started to speak
up about their rights in the gay and lesbian community. December 10, 1924 the first Society for
Human Rights started up in Chicago (American Experience). The Society for Human Rights published
the first ever book in America that retained to gay and lesbian relationships, Friendship and Freedom

Racial Discrimination In Education Case Study
Discrimination According to the free advice staff (2016), racial discrimination in education refers to
any harassment of students based on race, color, or national origin (Para. 1). The actions of
discrimination are nothing new. Discrimination takes on many forms and have occurred over many
years. Discrimination has even been brought back to focus through the media coverage of current
events. Discrimination of the 1950 s represented an age of equal opportunities in education. One such
educational opportunity pursued was at the University of Texas Law School where a student wanted
admission but because of his color was denied access. The fight for equal education is then established
and the case of Sweatt v Painter begins. The Reason cited in Complaint Sweatt v Painter is a case that
shifted equality in education to new standards of admission and enrollment for African Americans.
The complaint in this case was in the automatic application denial of admission for Herman Marion
Sweatt to the University of Texas Law School. According to the state law of the time, blacks could not
have access to the University. The institutions way of resolving the issue was to offer him acceptance

Metamorphosis Kafka Analysis
The title of the story The Metamorphosis , by Franz Kafka is misleading. Merriam Webster defines
metamorphosis as the change of physical form, structure or substance, especially by supernatural
means, a striking alteration in appearance, character or circumstance . While there is an obvious
change in the appearance of the character Gregor Samsa, it becomes apparent after reading the story,
that his appearance is not the only thing that transforms. In the story, Gregor wakes up one morning to
realize that he has changed into a giant insect. Not only did he transform into a creature, but he was
also stripped of his humanity. The author Franz Kafka uses this symbolism to focus the reader s
attention on one character that mirrors himself and his life. Both Kafka and Gregor are traveling
salesman from Prague, experience dysfunctional personal relationships throughout their life and suffer
from psychological conditions including alienation and isolation. Franz Kafka s life, a heartbreaking
story of human conflict, parallels with the main character of metamorphosis, Gregor Samsa.
Franz Kafka was born into a middle class German speaking Jewish family from Prague, Bohemia,
now the Czech Republic. Although Kafka obtained a degree in law, he spent his short adult life
working as a traveling insurance salesman. He considered this job as a bread job , a job performed to
only pay bills. At the time Kafka wrote Metamorphosis he had been employed for four years. In
parallel, Kafka s main character in the Metamorphosis possessed a job as a traveling salesman for four
years to pay off the family debt and support them. He is dissatisfied with his job, which is noted when
he says O God, he thought, what a demanding job I ve chosen, day in, day out on the road... (Kafka
p.612). I have to deal with the problems of traveling, the worries about train connections, irregular bad
food, temporary and constantly changing human relationships, which never came from the hear, To
hell with it all! (Kafka p.612). The metamorphosis of Gregor liberates him from his dreaded job, as
well as, releases him from his financial obligation to his parents.
Kafka s writings are significantly influenced by his conflicted relationships with both his

Of course a prospective sunk cost is different and, as we mentioned earlier, would certainly affect the
firm s decisions looking forward.
How do we know which costs are fixed and which are variable?
Over a very short time horizon say, a few months most costs are fixed.
Over such a short period, a firm is usually obligated to pay for contracted shipments of materials.
Over a very long time horizon say, ten years nearly all costs are variable.
Workers and managers can be laid off (or employment can be reduced by attrition), and much of the
machinery can be sold off or not replaced as it becomes obsolete and is scrapped.

● amortization Policy of treating a one time expenditure as an annual cost spread out over some

● marginal cost (MC) extra unit of output.
Amortizing large capital expenditures and treating them as ongoing fixed costs can simplify the

way can make it easier to understand the tradeoff that a firm faces in its use of labor versus capital.

The Corruption And Greed That Infested French High Society...
The Pere Goriot, illustrates the corruption and greed that infested French high society during the
Bourbon Restoration. Honore de Balzac who was a right winged conservative, depicts post
revolutionary Paris as a place of corruption, greed, and dysfunctional families. The class system was
more fragile than ever before and if one was willing to do what it takes, they could have the
opportunity to make it into the Parisian Elite. With Feudalism abolished in France, you no longer had
to be born in the first estate to live the lavish life of the social elite. As a steadfast conservative and
opponent of the Revolution, Balzac depicts this new social mobility as something that corrupted
French Society. The Bourbon Restoration allowed for your wealth to be the main factor in what part of
the social strata you belonged, not what family you were born into. The abolition of feudalism coupled
with the emergence of capitalism in France furthermore allowed for people to more easily move up the
social ladder. The social structure was a volatile one, people were making and losing money all the
time and Balzac illuminates on how much people struggle to live lavishly. The fragile social structure
was not liked by conservatives who were used to never having to worry about dropping out of the elite
or people joining it. He illustrates the Parisian people as pitiless, selfish, and egocentric. Not only does
he show that the Parisian elite were cold blooded people who only cared about money and

many that are still abundantly present in society today. Transcendentalism is shown in the way people

Learning Style And Characteristics Of English As A English...
Introduction
Whether one wants to travel, find a job, or find entertainment, the English language will most likely
be somewhat involved. This comes as no surprise since English has been referred to as the unofficial
language of globalization (CorrĂȘa De Almeida). Globalization is attractive to many because, it is the
interaction and integration among the people, companies, and governments of different nations
(Globalization 101, 2016). With this in mind many seek to learn English to gain better job
opportunities or to simply have access to worldly entertainment. English as second language (ESL)
education techniques now become the center of attention in order to satisfy the demand for effective
English learning as a foreign language. ESL education techniques must take into consideration student

Theme Of The Book Thief And The Things They Carried
Do you like war? Do you despise war? Have you ever attempted to help someone during a war,
probably not though? In The Book Thief, there is a girl named Liesel who were adopted by Hans and
Rosa Hubermann and they helped harbor a Jew during WWII. In The Things They Carried, is about a
soldier named Jimmy Cross who adores an English major named Martha and then one of the soldiers
gets shot and assassinated which makes Jimmy forget about Martha and become a better leader. In The
Book Thief and The Things They Carried have some similarities and differences and some of them I ll
explain with literary devices. The theme for The Book Thief is death/war/brutality and the theme for
The Things They Carried is to focus on what s more important than yourself. For my opening body
paragraph, one important literary device that both authors used is symbolism. In The Book Thief,
Markus Zusak starts of the symbol around the end of the book. Even though The Book Thief is a
morbid and a demonic book which has a lot of war and death in it, the dominoes represents how they,
were falling like dead bodies in the living room. (410). Well, in The Things They Carried, it also has
the same symbol which relates back to dominoes and how Tim protested against the war, but not
enough to be considered a pacifist. Also, how he thought about, Ho Chi Minh a Communist stooge, or
a nationalist savoir, or both, or neither?... What about SEATO and the Cold War? What about
dominoes? (38). That showed how the

Gwendolyn Brooks s The Mother
Gwendolyn Brooks is a famous, African American poetess who is famous for making a social
commentary upon the urban society in which she lives. Clearly seen in three of her more popular
poems, the mother , a song in the front yard , and What shall I give my children? Who are poor? ,
Brooks uses the struggles of impoverished motherhood to comment on the stymied lives of adult black
women. This is obviously evident in her use of the tone of hopelessness, which transcends all three
poems in differing forms that stem from regret in the mother , worry and overprotectiveness in a song

the joy of motherhood, longs for the child she almost had, saying, believe me, I knew you, though
faintly, and I loved, I loved you/ All (5). In an attempt to take a more positive outlook on the mother
tries to justify herself saying how much better the child s life would be, that as a mother she would
never have the chance to neglect or beat/ Them... (4). The story behind the mother is just one example
of hopelessness that Brooks prominently saw throughout her community, obviously this feeling of
regret and lament was prevalent throughout many women who, although chose to have abortions,
were not done out of not wanting the child, but by force in order to keep a job, house, or some other
commitment in which carrying and properly raising a child would be near impossible. Another very
powerful version of the overall tone of hopelessness in Brooks plays is the feeling of hopelessness that

Treatment Of Women In Othello
Women In Society
In Shakespeare s play Othello , women are often represented as pure, while being misunderstood as
adulterous because of the men, often leaving them in powerless positions and manipulated by men.
Women are viewed as adulterous in society s eyes, but mainly in Othello s eyes because of the lies that
were feed to him. Othello believes people s perception over the truth perception meaning he took Iago

The Cultural Identity Of The African American Community
The African American community has sat at the end of a discriminatory lens from the moment they set
foot in the United States. For that reason, black communities have undergone the process of
community building to ensure that all members feel a sense of belonging.
Race, gender, nationality, ethnicity, poverty, and sexual orientation, all play a role in developing one s
identity and more often than not, these multiple identities intersect with blackness. Being that
American society has deemed colored people and populations as minoritarian subjects, African
diaspora people can be seen making safe spaces for themselves to survive as individuals and as a part
of communities.
Stuart Hall s Cultural Identity and Diaspora focuses on the current issues of identity, cultural practices
and cultural representations. He analyses the visual representations of Afro Caribbean s and challenges
the notions of identity from African and European places. Hall then goes on to explain how Caribbean
cinema has chosen to both, refute and embrace European influence. He presents two different forms of
thinking about cultural identity. In the first position, Hall defines cultural identity in terms of one,
shared culture, which people with a shared history and ancestry hold in common. The first model uses
stable, unchanging and continuous frames of reference and meanings to present the idea of shared
culture, history, and ancestry rooted beneath more superficial imposed selves (Hall, 223).

Explain Why We Should Continue To Continue For Exploration...
I think that we should continue to pursue exploration of Mars because there could possibly be life out
there that we do not know about, it inspires people to to gain more education, and another option just
incase ours gets destroyed.
My first reason is because there is a possibility that there is other life and natural resources on mars.
For example, new medicines, technology, signs of water, and living bacteria can result in research that
benefits people on Earth. Maybe, this new technology can prevent radiation problems and developing
improved vaccines. It might be possible to help us address a new cure for diseases.
My second point is that it inspires people to gain more education. Space exploration has inspired many
great minds to work

Positive Impact Of Technology
Technology is always advancing, and people use it almost everywhere. It s used in jobs, homes, and
everyday life. Recently technology also has made an immense impact on the way people learn. Many
people have different opinions on how to use technology, and if it is a good tool for information. Some
believe the use of the internet can help with creativity, and comprehensive. Other believe that through
using internet imagination is lessened, and that it leaves students not understanding what was read.
Technology can have positive, and negative results, it also had many different tests and studies done to
see the impacts. When using technology for learning, many people have explained the positive
outcome that is made. It was shown that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although there was positive impacts from video games, there was negatives as well. Playing violent
videos has lead to people becoming more aggressive in real life, and leading kids to be less sensitive
to real life problems (Wolpert). When reading, and finding information is done online students won t
read as fully as they need to. A university professor has explained that Google is not enough to find
the information you need, and if the teachers don t help the kids slow down and read deeply, they won
t comprehend what they are reading (Simpson). If students aren t understanding what they are reading,
because they have not read deeply enough, it will not benefit their learning. Wiring classrooms for
internet access does not enhance learning (Wolpert). Another downside to technology is false
information, and distraction. With internet always at your fingertips, it is obvious that it can cause
distractions keeping you from learning, and the information you receive may not be the most valuable
either (Skovira). Many believe that the internet is not going to have the resources you need, and that
using technology isn t going to better anybodies learning. To demonstrate the impacts of technology
on our learning, good and bad, researches have completed studies and tests. In one study, researchers
were able to predict future laparoscopic surgeon, based upon the skill they exhibited while
participating in video games. Another study included

An individual s relation with others in their surroundings, may be enhancing or rewarding, or even set
a boundary in a way for them to belong, however sometimes an individual s environment can be too

It is a world of pretence filled with the illusion of fairytale. Baz Luhrmann creates the world of
ballroom dancing to be very stylised, intimate and gracious. This can be seen in a scene of dancers in
black and white at the beginning of the movie, with the silhouette of the dancers. The choice of song
The Blue Danube Waltz by Johann Strauss II supports the glamorous world of ballroom dancing. The
costumes of the ballroom dancers used in the movie are cartoonish in the way they look, where girls
wear feathers, elaborated hairstyle, all puffed up and very bright coloured dresses. However behind
the gracious and attractive exterior, there is a world filled with corruption and intrigue. The shouting
of spectators supporting their preferred dancers such Come on number 100..! takes away the prestige
of the ballroom dancing, in contrast to the gracious songs and dance moves in the ballroom. It turns
out that the ballroom dancing world as a world of competition, where you need to conform to the
dances and where individuality is impossible. The important value of Winning at all cost that entraps
people, restricting them from being themself.
Baz Luhrmann creates Scott Hasting as a rebel, who dares to dance his own steps, dazzling the
audience with his samba routine earlier in the movie. When Scott decided to do his own Flashy crowd
pleasing steps the technique of camera shots in slow motion and freezes frames are used to

  • 2. The Positive And Negative Implications Of Social... The positive and negative implications of social networking sites. Introduction Social networking sites have become a big part of our lives. These sites are indeed twofold, and their impact on society is both positive and negative. My essay will, therefore try to answer both sides of the impact social networking sites have in today s culture. A website article by (Shruti Tripathi Chopra 2015) stated that in 2008 Facebook made and estimated $300 million, that rose to a profit in 2014 of $2.9. The positive implications of social networking sites have no boundaries. Communication between people in the past was, either over the phone or via letter, just to mention a few. (Pewinternet.org 2005) published that just 7% of American adults used social networking sites, and then rising to 65% by 2015. As a result, in this growth and popularity, jobs have been created to meet the demands of social networking sites. It was surely inevitable, that the growth and impact of social networking sites would influence how most of us live our lives today. A great way to share your recent photographs, ideas, general chat or just keep in contact with loved ones who live far away, is through the social networking sites. This being a very positive side, it has all but demolished the barriers that prevented loved ones from frequent contact. Many, if not all academic institutes have embraced these sites, and they use them to inform the public of current happening at their institute. This in many ways ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Home retail in the UK is very big, developed and competitive industry. It has well known companies that are recognized for style, price, and costumer services. A new competitor can get easily to the market competing with better services, design products and price. But economic and legal aspects may be a reason for potential entrants to refrain to enter into the UK market as it represents a fairly large investment. Potential entrants need to penetrate into the market with a new kind of service or product. Example: Argos use catalogues to make sales through the market. • 4. The Handmaid s Tale By Margaret Atwood Essay Ni Robi McNair Cuny Ela Ms. Milliner EES21QH 09 October 19, 2016 In the society that we reside in today our voice is a source of power and our words allow us to have a say in our lives especially for the female population. Many years ago a woman s voice was to be kept at a whisper if even heard at all. We had no opinion on who we wanted to be or on how the world saw us. We were simply women who took care of the children, cooked, cleaned, and catered to the men of our home. But we broke out of that silence and women created a name for themselves, Independent. We could do anything a man could do and maybe even better and we have now lived in that freedom for many years. But author of the novel, The Handmaid s Tale, Margaret Atwood pulled her readers attention showing them a world in which the woman s voice was again taken away. Atwood revealed how powerful the voice is. In this novel women no longer have a say in what happens to them or their bodies. They were forced to bare the children of the men they are assigned to and were stripped away from their past lives. The only key to a small piece of freedom was through their language, through their use of words to paint a different picture than the one in front of them. That is what main character Offred did to survive the world she was living in. She paints pictures with her words and even though she did not have power over her circumstance her words gave her an escape from everything. It gave an escape for all the ... I will first explain my research I found and then go through my plan to save more. My goal is to have $1,000 saved at the end of the four weeks. Before I started this, I went shopping about three to four times a week. Over the past 30 days I tried to cut down my shopping, and budget myself. I will go through my four weeks, and explain what I did over the past 30 days to keep myself from spending money. The easiest way to save money rather than spending it is to make sure that that you never get a chance to spend the money in the first place (Lewis step 1). By this they mean you should have part of your money deposited into a saving account ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On day 1 buy gas, which is about $30. Upon reading each issue, it is clear that there is no right or wrong answer. Several times I found myself torn on both sides; this is I was both for and against certain issues. I have always tried to make decisions as informed as possible but realized that judgments are still personal and what we believe in. Issues Issue 1: I do believe that corporations have a responsibility to society as a whole, not only to maximize their own profits and benefit the economy but also to respect the community that they reside in. They achieve this by not only providing employment, but also upholding an image. It is up to ... But upon further thought and through discovery, I realized that from a business point of view we as a nation should still help promote economic globalization. In order to do so we need to outsource production and encourage trade. However, because we are fiscally involved in another country s economy that doesn t give American corporations the right to implement our laws and standards into other countries business practices and laws. Just because we see child labor, unfair wages, and violating overtime as immoral, doesn t mean that the host county does. However global labor standards need to be unified. Issue 3: Siding with Ira Kay, I agree with his position on the issue. The American Dream is to essentially start from nothing, working up the ladder to gain money, power, and the image of a lavish, executive lifestyle; resulting from hard work paying off and wages that compensate for it. Annual pay and stock incentives for most executives will fluctuate with the company s performance, as well as their personal efforts. If a cap was to be implemented on a CEO s salary, what would be the incentive to stay at the helm of a corporation when the financial glass ceiling has been reached? Issue 4: Does an employer s need to monitor workers trump employee privacy concerns? This is one of these controversial issues where I agree with points from both sides. ... Health I defined health as a physical, social, emotional, psychological and spiritual wellbeing of a person which is vastly shaped by their environment. This definition falls under totality paradigm. This is so because, according to totality paradigm, health is defined according to societal norms. Society sets a benchmark for what health is. Hence, health can be measured as compared to the societal norm. If the person deviates from the societal norm then the person is considered unhealthy. Similarly, I mention in my definition that health is something that is maintained by the stability of different aspects of the person. The benchmark of stability is usually set by society. My definition does not fall into simultaneity paradigm because unlike my definition, simultaneity paradigm states that health is not defined by the benchmark of society rather, health is defined only by a person, and only the person knows what health means to them. Environment According to me, environment denotes a person s surrounding including their family, community, culture, beliefs, and values. Environment shapes the person s health and wellbeing as well as their own view towards the definition of being healthy. My view on the concept of environment relates to Parse s (1987) totality paradigm. Totality paradigm states that the environment is something within which the person exists. It influences the way in which the person functions. Similarly, I believe that the environment of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Change must be realistic, achievable and measurable, so as managing director it is extremely important to understand how to engage employees, and lead the business, in working around this change (TFG 2014). Change management enables employees to adopt a change so that business objectives and outcomes can be achieved. Whenever there is some sort of organizational change employees can experience varied levels of discomfort. As managing director leading change requires juggling a number of psychological factors, such as how employees think, how they perceive their current situation, how they will perceive a new change (Price and Lawson 2008). To ensure the success of any change initiative, manager s efforts should go first towards considering how your employees will perceive the change and approaching this in the best way. Planning, leading organizing, negotiating and controlling are four management functions that can be used and implemented to keep employees motivated towards company goals and reassured about the businesses direction in a time of change. Organizations are continually faced with a changing environment, therefore a need for a shift in strategic direction, must be implemented. The successes of major organizational change initiatives are almost always dependent on the incorporation of its workers and employees to help implement these changes. A ... • 14. Is Prostitution A Victimless Crime Is prostitution a victimless crime and should this affect its legislation? As established earlier, a victimless crime is defined as a legal offense in which all parties consent and no party is injured. I believe that this is a key thought to consider when discussing the legislation of prostitution, because surely an act should only be illegal if there are directly negative impacts caused it? If prostitution is in fact a victimless crime , does it even need to be considered a crime at all? A crime can be defined as an action which constitutes an offence and is punishable by law, why should prostitution constitute an offence if no one is harmed? In the 1950s, Sir John Wolfenden led an investigation for the British government, looking into whether or not prostitution (and homosexual acts) should remain as criminal acts. Wolfenden did not question the immorality of the acts, but concluded that the law should be reformed because there must remain a realm of private morality and immorality that is, in brief and crude terms, not the law s business . Liberal thinkers tend to hold the same view, which was describe in an earlier publication by John Stuart Mill, ...the only purpose for which power can be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilised community, against his will, is to prevent harm to others . This quote is often used to support the repeal of laws which make victimless crimes (e.g. laws against prostitution/homosexuality). I agree with the view of Wolfenden and ... How Water Affects The Health Of A Stream Abstract Because streams play important roles in ecosystems and also provide drinking water for humans, this experiment was performed to determine if water velocity affects the health of a stream. For our purposes, water heath was determined by concentrations of dissolved oxygen. We predicted that areas of higher water velocity would have a lower chlorophyll a concentration and higher dissolved oxygen concentration. We collected six samples of water from Wild Basin Preserve in Austin, TX, three from areas of still water and three from areas of running water. We measured the dissolved oxygen concentrations of each sample using an YSI 550A Dissolved Oxygen Instrument and measured the chlorophyll a concentrations of each sample using a DU 800 ... These anthropogenic activities affect the biodiversity of ecosystems in streams and negatively impact the stream s health. This experiment was executed for the purpose of diagnosing the health of a stream located in Wild Basin, a natural park in Austin, TX. Our goal was to determine how the movement of water affects the quality of the water. Measuring chlorophyll a concentrations is one way to determine the health of a stream, because it is the main photosynthetic pigment in periphyton. Periphyton is a primary producer in stream ecosystem and provides information about conditions within the stream. An abundance of periphyton positively affects an ecosystem because periphyton absorbs metals and nutrients and provides a significant component of the food resources to other species (Gray 2013). However, it is also important to measure the concentration of dissolved oxygen in streams to determine the health. If the concentration of periphyton is too high, there will be a large amount of primary and secondary consumers that migrate to the location and deplete the concentration of oxygen. For our study, we hypothesized that constantly moving water would have higher dissolved oxygen content because the movement helps oxygenate the water ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In theory, actions implemented by and within the United Nations are based on the mutual global goal of protecting international human rights and preventing human sufferings. These actions are constituted through three main mechanisms: the Treaty based system, the Human Rights Council, and Security Council and Humanitarian Interventions, with the level of confrontation and seriousness in each mechanism increases respectively. While aimed to serve the mutual goal of protecting human rights over the world and have shown some successes, in a world of sovereignty, actions when implemented are in fact grounded by the national interests of each state, including embracing its national sovereignty, concreting its strategic relationships with other states, and enhancing its reputation in the international community. This paper will analyze the successes and failures of each of the three mechanisms of the United Nations regime, through which it aims to prove that when it comes to actions, states focus more on their national, and in some cases, regional interests than on the mutual goal of strengthening human rights throughout the world, thus diminishing the legitimacy of the whole United Nations system. At the same time, weapons were being developed which were accurate and lethal well beyond any arms of the earlier conflicts. As a result of these two conditions many more casualties were sustained. • 20. Hamlet and The Spanish Tragedy The parallels shown between Hamlet and The Spanish Tragedy demonstrate the influence Kyd s play had on Shakespeare. The similarities can be seen throughout the plot lines and context of both plays. While using the plays as different tools, both are used for expediting revenge. Shakespeare, through the impact of Kyd s play, established and perfected an ideal plot for a play expressing revengeful tragedy. The actions and thoughts that Hamlet shows greatly displays many characteristics from The Spanish Tragedy. Hamlet models himself after Hieronimo in the way he approaches revenge. However, Hamlet wants his victims to suffer not only on earth but in the afterlife. Kyd and Shakespeare utilize both meta theaters to exact revenge and reveal guilt. The intention of a play within a play by Kyd is used for the format of Hieronimo s death. It varies from that of Hamlet in layout and context. Hamlet plans precisely how he will avenge his father s death and when he will strike. Hamlet exclaims, When he is...about some act/ That has no relish of salvation in t / Then trip him...And that his soul may be damned and black/ As hell (Shakespeare III.iv.94 100). Killing Claudius in a sinful state will satisfy him, his father, and affect him by suffering in the afterlife as well. This course offered a broader view at looking and analyzing the history of African American in the United States. Though, I have read extensively and possessed a small collection of books on the subject, this course has affirmed what I have already knew as well as elevating my knowledge on the subject. The course also opened up new ways to look and understand certain facts about African American s experiences since Reconstruction. There could not be a better textbook for this course than Freedom on My Mind. As I stated in a previous assignment, the textbook is a mini reference encyclopedia of African American history for the past century. The supporting documents throughout the textbook support the authors arguments as well as providing the foundation for many unanswered questions that academics and intellectuals should seek find answers from the government and people in leadership positions. Parallel conclusions can be drawn to events involving African Americans in the late 19th century and throughout the 20th century to current events with the exception that a few cases many end up in the court. Discriminatory practices are wide spread in every sector of the American society. The fights for school desegregation may have been won in the courtroom but segregationists found a way to underfunded black schools. Affirmative Action may have provided a ... • 23. Lenses of Education Education is a main factor that Socrates discusses throughout his trial in the Apology and in Meno. One of the main factors discussed in both texts are the role of teachers in society and if Socrates is a teacher. Socrates also relates past stories or experiences when giving his dialogues. This allows him to explain his thoughts and reasons on certain topics. One final factor that plays a role in both the Apology and Meno is the role of the gods through the dialogues. Teachers, stories, and the role of gods all play a key role in the Apology and Meno as Socrates attempts to explain and expand upon his views of education. In the Apology Socrates states that he is not a teacher because he does not charge a fee, such as Gorgias or Leontini do (pg. 24, 19 d e). Socrates does not consider himself a teacher because he does not charge a fee, and he also does not preach what he does not know. According to Socrates, those who have obtained great knowledge in certain subjects such as politics or poetry often come to the conclusion that they have knowledge about everything and therefore can teach about anything the choose (pg. 27, 23b). However, Socrates believes he is wiser than most because he does not preach what he does not know. Rather, he looks for those who do know the answers and then questions them to understand their thoughts about the topic. Thus, Socrates gains his education from questioning rather than pretending just as Meno points this out in the Meno. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Merriam Webster defines metamorphosis as the change of physical form, structure or substance, especially by supernatural means, a striking alteration in appearance, character or circumstance . While there is an obvious change in the appearance of the character Gregor Samsa, it becomes apparent after reading the story, that his appearance is not the only thing that transforms. In the story, Gregor wakes up one morning to realize that he has changed into a giant insect. Not only did he transform into a creature, but he was also stripped of his humanity. The author Franz Kafka uses this symbolism to focus the reader s attention on one character that mirrors himself and his life. Both Kafka and Gregor are traveling salesman from Prague, experience dysfunctional personal relationships throughout their life and suffer from psychological conditions including alienation and isolation. Franz Kafka s life, a heartbreaking story of human conflict, parallels with the main character of metamorphosis, Gregor Samsa. Franz Kafka was born into a middle class German speaking Jewish family from Prague, Bohemia, now the Czech Republic. Although Kafka obtained a degree in law, he spent his short adult life working as a traveling insurance salesman. He considered this job as a bread job , a job performed to only pay bills. At the time Kafka wrote Metamorphosis he had been employed for four years. In parallel, Kafka s main character in the Metamorphosis possessed a job as a traveling salesman for four years to pay off the family debt and support them. He is dissatisfied with his job, which is noted when he says O God, he thought, what a demanding job I ve chosen, day in, day out on the road... (Kafka p.612). I have to deal with the problems of traveling, the worries about train connections, irregular bad food, temporary and constantly changing human relationships, which never came from the hear, To hell with it all! Honore de Balzac who was a right winged conservative, depicts post revolutionary Paris as a place of corruption, greed, and dysfunctional families. The class system was more fragile than ever before and if one was willing to do what it takes, they could have the opportunity to make it into the Parisian Elite. With Feudalism abolished in France, you no longer had to be born in the first estate to live the lavish life of the social elite. As a steadfast conservative and opponent of the Revolution, Balzac depicts this new social mobility as something that corrupted French Society. The Bourbon Restoration allowed for your wealth to be the main factor in what part of the social strata you belonged, not what family you were born into. The abolition of feudalism coupled with the emergence of capitalism in France furthermore allowed for people to more easily move up the social ladder. The social structure was a volatile one, people were making and losing money all the time and Balzac illuminates on how much people struggle to live lavishly. The fragile social structure was not liked by conservatives who were used to never having to worry about dropping out of the elite or people joining it.
