Final Ideas
After carrying out research into many existing magazines, and also research into my target
audience, I now have clearer ideas on how I should make my practical pieces.
FrontCover:
After looking at many existing magazine front covers, I know I have to include many
conventions in my work. For example, I will definitely have the models looking directly at
the camera. Also, I will have the main sell line related to the model, for example it could be
their name. I also will sure that I place the pug in an inconspicuous area so it does not
distract the reader’s attention from the main elements of the front cover. I would like my
front cover to look professional and similar to existing magazines.
Contents Page:
My contents page should be clear and detailed, and have all the necessary information. I
have decided to include an editor’s letter, as I think that will make my magazine seem
friendlier, and give it an appropriate mode of address. I will also be separating the articles
into different categories and having a box for each one. This will make it easy for the
audience to find an article they want to read. Having the information separated will also
make my contents page look more professional. I will also be including images in my
contents page, as this makes it more visually enticing.
Double Page Spread:
I have decide to make the double page spread an interview, and have one side as a large
image of the artist. This is common in many pop music magazines, as the audience always
want to find out more about their favourite celebrity. I will have the headline as a pull
quote, as this will draw the audience and make them want to read on. I will use typical pop
colours such as pink and yellow in the double page spread, to tie in with the fun and bright
brand identity of my magazine.
