Predicting Employee Churn: A Data-Driven Approach Project Presentation
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products
1. In what ways does your media
product use, develop or
challenge forms and
conventions of real media
products?
2. Front cover
I based my front page
on that of ‘Spin’
magazine’s special
edition cover with
Azealia Banks. I
chose to aim my
magazine at a very
similar target
audience to ‘Spin’ as
I like the simple look
of magazines aimed
at an ‘indie’
audience.I made sure the cover was neither too masculine nor too
feminine by using neutral colours in the photo with a bold red
masthead. The use of red instead of blue or pink (which are
associated with specific genders) allows for both genders to be
targeted equally.

4. Contents
Again I decided to base
my contents page on
one in ‘Spin magazine.
The Spin contents was
in black and white so I
too made my image
black and white. I
continued with the
neutral colour scheme
(besides the masthead)
as I felt it gives the
magazine a more
sophisticated look . Nearly all magazines I looked at had the title
of the magazine on the contents page so I stuck with that. I also
included the issue number and date which most magazines put
on their contents pages.

6. Double page spread
Again, my double page spread was based off ‘Spin’. However I
decided to not follow this one completely. For example I did not
make my image black and white due to already having a black and
white contents page. I also included my masthead on my double
page spread which ‘Spin’ does not and used two collums of article
rather than one.

8. Like most magazines, I used a constant colour scheme
throughout my magazine to keep the house style consistant.
I also used Direct mode of address in my front cover image.
Direct mode of address is used im most magazines as it
connects the audience to the magazine. My contents page
clearly displayed the features of the magazine in a simple
way. This was slightly unconventional as magazines such as
NME have quite a crowded contents page, however as I ws
basing my magazine on ‘Spin’ I decided to follow their
simplistic style.
