1. EVALUATION QUESTION ONE
In what ways does your media product
use, develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real media products?
2. Here I have looked at some basic layout of
magazines to get a general idea of how it is set
out normally on magazine there is at masthead
to promote the brand followed by a main focus
point. On the front of the magazine to entice
readers there is normally offers.
To relate to the basic magazine layout
I’ve used a bold masthead so it stands
out on the cover. I have also used a
main image at a high quality also
making sure that text is bight and
bold throughout my magazine. But
also making sure that the colours
scheme stays the same throughout the
magazine to show consistency. I have
put my image in the middle of the
page to allow the rest of the context to
go around it. The difference with the
basic layouts is that my magazine is
laid out different because of my target
audience.
3. I really like the colours scheme within my
magazine as it is bright and bold like the
examples at the bottom. I think by using the
bright, bold colours it worked well with my
target audience which are teenage girls. I also
chosen to keep the idea of the magazine looking
busy and over crowed which would entice
readers. I also like my main image as it looks like
the examples beneath; it is bold and sticks out of
the magazine. I chose to use boxes as it allowed
me to keep information neat and tidy which
allowed the boxes to flow around my main
image.
When creating my magazine I used a range of ideas
and felt this allowed me to expand my ideas. I
would say that my magazine has a basic
conventional structure but I have also adapted that
structure so that I’m able to suit it more to my
target market. By using teenage magazines they
have helped me structure and inspire my final
product. As I’m appealing for a UK market it is vital
that I used up coming trends and artist this would
allow me to reach out to more supports in the UK
liking those artists.
When creating my front cover it was vital to make sure that I used offers which would entice a wider
range in audience also this would allow more people to be interested in my product. As most conventional
teenage magazine would offer beauty and clothing it was vital that I made sure that I offered music offers
instead as I was producing a music magazine.
4. Main Picture Covers Masthead
Masthead: Special font with a high impact
white colour which stands out on the pink
background.
Cover Lines, especially in boxes
which is highlighted in a ‘house
style’ blue box with bold pink text.
Fixed by pull quotes.
Main Cover line: has much larger font size and goes
across the side of the page. Has an underline effect
separating it from its subheading. Blue writing stands
out from white background.
Cover Picture: are placed in
boxes to allow them to
stand out on the page. The
subject has a typical pop
and girly styling.
Main cover picture is of a major
international star and relates to
main article topic. It is anchored by
the main cover line.
Bar Code
Pull Quote: ABC font and BLUE
colour to make it stand out.
Tilted at a slight angle.
Competition: round ‘box’ with
yellow boarder and pink or blue
text to make it stand out.
Magazine’s Cover Price and Date Of Publish
Looks out at reader
5. When creating my magazine I felt that it was important to
make sure that I used columns like the examples. I chose
to use them as they allowed me to create a layout of my
magazine. I have used a drop shadow beneath the boxes
to allow them to stand out. Then bold colour background
to section the magazine out. I have also used a constant
colour scheme as I feel like these colours work well
together. To improve I should add more images as it is
important for a contents page to look busy and I would do
this by adding pictures of products to entice readers. I felt
when doing my magazine I used the conventional ideas as
well as using my own to develop my contents.
I used the main image of the front
cover to show that the story is
important. I have also decided to
make sure that I highlighted other
important story's to entice the
reader.
When doing the task it was important to make sure the text was readable. I also used column's as it allowed me to layout
similar to the magazines which I had researched. I also like the fact the contents is not too over crowed although if I was
to do it again I would added more picture as that is normal what a contents is like. I also used a found advert to show that
I’m relating my magazine to my target audience.
6. From my research I have looked at
basic, typical double page spread.
Theses allowed me to develop my ideas
so that I would be able to format and
sort out the layout of my produced.
Following my research into teenagers magazines, I found that there was a
similarity in the colours which flowed through. I have used the same colour
scheme throughout my magazine as it shows consistency, I then chose to
use a bold headline as this would interest the reader. I have also used a
Straight forward approach to basic magazine cover and then interpreted my
own ideas.
When creating my layout I used columns
to structure my text and to used two
different colours to show a
conversation. I also used the same
model from the front cover of my
magazine for the double page spread to
show consistence. To improve I could
change the colour of the dark text to a
bright colour so it is easier to see.
