Pronunciation is the bridge between you and a native English speaker. It is the first thing that anyone notices about you, when you start to speak. It connects you. Without clear pronunciation, messages can get lost or confused. The listener might even start to feel frustrated because they don't understand what is being said.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.
This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

PREPARING…
Don’t forget to submit your
reflection for this RLC.
3. Check Out the Modules Link. Scroll Down To Find Important Study Lists
for this RLC
here
Submit your reflection
4. Remember all key vocabulary
learned in each Unit/Lesson can be
found in the Vocabulary tab under
Quick Links on the main course
page.
5. Be sure to review the grading
rubrics for the writing, speaking
and English reflection sections of
the final exam so you know
assignment expectations and how
your work will be graded!
6. Where Can I Find The Final Exam?
The Final Exam has two sections - Parte 1 and Parte 2.
Notice it is called “Proyecto Final de Español Uno”
Parte 1 includes the Escribir, Hablar and English reflection.
Parte 2 includes the Reading and Listening comprehension test (You MUST do
this in one sitting).
7. We’ve Learned So Much…What Should You Concentrate On?
To create a focus of study, imagine you are going to take a trip to Costa Rica and
stay with a family. Next, think about the theme of each unit of study for this
year/semester.
Unidad 1 - Basic Conversation Unidad 5 – El Tiempo Libre
Unidad 2 – Mi Escuela Unidad 6 – La Comida
Unidad 3 – Mi Casa Unidad 7 – De Compras
Unidad 4 – Mi Familia Unidad 8 – La Comunidad
8. Where Should You Begin…
Revisit your Proyecto Final assignments (Proyecto Final Unidad 1/2/3
and Proyecto Final Unidad 4/5/6). Read/listen to your teacher’s
feedback.
Revisit all Escribir assignments for all units of study. Read your
teacher’s feedback and put in your notes what needed to be corrected
so you have this information available.
Review the Escribir assignments with multiple options. For the ones you
did not select, put in your notes how you would have responded to them
based on what you learned in the lessons and Course Announcements.
9. If you were to visit Costa Rica and live with a family, think about 3-4 sentences from each unit
that you could use to talk about your trip.
Where are you going and why?
How will you get there?
What do you need to have to travel to another country and what other items will you take?
What transportation will you use while there?
Where do you live?
What is the house like?
What do you do in the rooms of your host family’s home?
What is your host family like? (Adjectives to describe, tell ages…)
What activities do you do in the city and what places do you visit?
What is your school like?
What do you study and do in each class?
What time does your school begin and end?
What do you eat?
What do you and your family like to do in your free time?
Where do you shop?
What do you like to buy?
How much do things cost?
What are some places around the community you like to visit?
10. ALL VERBS MUST BE
CONJUGATED IN THE PRESENT TENSE
This is the only verb tense conjugation we learn in Spanish 1!
You can also use the present progressive tense you learned in
Unit 8.
Any other verb tenses will result in significant points being
taken off.

What are some of the places
in your community? What do
you do at these places?

17. Use the word “hay”
to tell where
things are in the

Don’t try to translate word for word from English to Spanish!
If you find yourself trying to say statements like “I went…” “I saw…” “I ate…”
STOP and remember everything stays in the present tense.
27. IMPORTANT TIDBITS ON THE SPEAKING –
THIS IS SEPARATE!
When you create your comparison statements for the Speaking section, remember your primary goal
is to demonstrate you can use the vocabulary and phrases you have learned to create grammatically
correct sentences.
Keep your statements simple! Don’t try to translate word for word English to Spanish!
Examples
En Costa Rica, la gente come la cena a las nueve de la noche pero en mi casa mi familia come la cena a
las seis de la noche.
En Costa Rica hay un bosque lluvioso. En mi ciudad hay un bosque pero no hay un bosque lluvioso.
En carolina del norte, hay el invierno, la primavera, el verano y el otoño. En Costa Rica no hay el
invierno y el otoño. En Costa Rica llueve mucho durante seis meses del año.
28.
29. You may complete the two parts at different times, but Parte 2 must be completed in one
sitting. You cannot save it and come back to it later.
You can complete Parte 2 (Leer y Escuchar) first if you want to.
Part 2 - The Leer and Escuchar exams are not timed. However, DON’T leave the
exam on idle and try to return. You will get locked out and it can’t be reset.
If you attempt to switch tabs to go to an outside source to Google information, you
will get locked out!
You will be able to listen to audio prompts as many times as you need to!
30. You need to complete BOTH parts of the entire final exam as they are both graded and
averaged together to form your “Final Exam Average” which is 25% of your final grade.
That means if you ace Part A and forget to do Part B, a zero will be averaged to the
first grade to cause you to have an overall failing grade
Please read the directions carefully, especially for Part A (the first link).
This is especially true for the Hablar (speaking)
part of the exam.
It is NOT you reading the questions and answers
of the Web 2.0 project you create!
31. •You may use your notes to complete all parts of the final
exam. HOWEVER, you may not use any dictionaries, Google
translate, other people (outside resources).
•You should only have one program running and only
have one tab open in your browser.
•DO NOT click on anything outside of the final exam
parte 2 while the final exam is open because it may
cause it to freeze. There are no resets.
•Do not leave your computer unattended or idle for a
long period of time as it will log you out of the exam.
