What is mean by Field trip &
Excursion
 Field trips or excursions are defined as
educational experiences conducted during
school hours and planned by a teacher to
correlate with the regular classroom
instructional program. Field trips should be
an integral part of classroom instruction.
The experiences gained during field trips
should give relevance and meaning to
knowledge.
Need and significance of Field

• Providing first-hand experience
• Stimulating interest & motivation in science
• Giving meaning to learning and
interrelationships
• Observation and perception skills

• Choice of the place of excursion
In planning for excursion, the top most priority should be
given to the wise decision about the place of excursion.
Generally it should be based upon its relevance to the
subject and topic being currently dealt with in the
classrooms.
 Preparation for Excursion
• permission of the authorities
• proper arrangements of transport
• correspondence and confirmation about the reservation of rooms
in hotels, rest houses or guest houses etc
• The aims and purposes of excursion should be made clear to the
students.
• proper arrangement for the food
• Full cooperation of the students must be secured in the
management of all the affairs concerning excursion.
Precautions for Field trip &
Excursion
• The teacher should try to keep his students under control
and is perfect discipline especially when they are out for a
visit in a group of places involving some risk.
• During excursion the teacher should take all precautions
about the lodging and boarding facilities as well as for the
health of all members of the excursion team.
• It is also the responsibility of the teacher to see that
everyone from the excursion team as well as what is being
carried or collected from the excursion remain safe and
intact.

concerning their experiences and knowledge gained during excursion.
• It helps all the schools students besides those going on excursion, to
drive useful educational advantages and also providing a good
platform in the matter of self expression.
